Jack: Well, I see I'm going to have to fire a few security people.

Victor: Don't do that quite yet. Let's talk first.

Jack: Fine. Mumble away. I got a few minutes.

Victor: You surprised to see me?

Jack: Actually, no. I figured you'd be by sooner or later.

Victor: I came by because you poisoned my son's mind against me. That's the most treacherous thing a man can do.

Jack: (Chuckles) I poisoned... you actually believe that, don't you?

Victor: If not you, then who else?

Jack: You know, Victor, I haven't had a particularly pleasant week myself. You see, a certain crooked businessman I know drew my wife into his ugly little plan to destroy my company. Because of that, I don't have a wife right now. So if you're feeling a little grumpy, join the club.

Victor: Your wife wasn't part of any--

Jack: She knew! She knew, and she didn't tell me. And that's enough for me. Now you've thumped your chest, you stomped around here. Now take a hike.

Victor: Oh, you think you're gonna get off that easy? Hmm?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nikki: Nicholas.

Nick: Hey, Mom.

Nikki: Just hold it, right there.

Nick: Look, I'm kind of in rush. What's up?

Nikki: Really? That's too bad.

Nick: Miguel pressed a suit for me. I have an important dinner tonight.

Nikki: Oh. With who?

Nick: Does the name Cameron Kirsten mean anything to you?

Nikki: I don't know. He's some software mogul. I read he was in town.

Nick: Yeah, that's the guy.

Nikki: Is this something your father asked you to take over for him?

Nick: As a matter of fact, he did.

Nikki: Well, that's a lot of responsibility. He must trust you very much.

Nick: Yeah. Well, I'm gonna get that suit. I don't want to keep the man waiting.

Nikki: Is this conversation making you uncomfortable? Because it should be.

Nick: What's going on, Mom?

Nikki: You know what's going on.

Nick: Is this about Dad?

Nikki: Nicholas, I know. I know about your father.

Nick: I'm sorry, Mom. I'm really sorry.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Doorbell rings)

Michael: Oh.

Michael: Sharon, it's not a very good time.

Sharon: Tell me about it.

Michael: Okay, so what happened? Did Kirsten blurt something out to Nick? Did he tell him about Denver, what happened between the two of you?

Sharon: No, no, no, thank God.

Michael: Okay, so all right, what's the problem?

Sharon: Now he has insisted on having dinner tonight with Nick and Nick's wife.

Michael: Oh.

Sharon: Is that all you can say?

Michael: Okay, it's not the ideal situation, but... unless you misread this man's reaction when you ran into him, maybe he didn't recognize you in the first place.

Sharon: Oh, no, no, he recognized me. And now that he realizes that I am Mrs. Nicholas Newman, he's more determined than ever to go through with this dinner tonight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dru: Honey.

Neil: Huh?

Dru: Lily and I are waiting for you in the limousine. We're growing moss under our feet.

Neil: Is it time to go to the airport already?

Dru: It's been time. What's the hold up?

Neil: You know, I'm just kind of doing some last minute stuff, cleaning my desk.

Dru: The desk looks fabulous. I can't wait to get on the Newman jet. Honey, pop the champagne, eat the caviar.

Neil: Hey, look at you. Guess what? I can't wait either.

Dru: Do you realize we're gonna be husband and wife again?

Neil: It's about time, baby, don't you think?

Dru: Oh, I forgot to tell you the news.

Neil: What news? What news is that?

Dru: Olivia called.

Neil: Yeah?

Dru: Cleared her calendar, she's going with us after all.

Neil: Hey, now. That is good news. Great news.

Dru: What about red? Are we giving her a lift to the airport?

Neil: No, Phyllis is gonna find her own way to the airport.

Dru: Baby, this wedding party keeps growing--two more guests.

Neil: Huh? Who now?

Dru: My boss Jack Abbott and Damon’s friend Vanessa Lerner.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Doorbell rings)

Damon: Hey.

Vanessa: Hey.

Damon: You're early.

Vanessa: Only a little. Thank you for offering me a ride to the airport.

Damon: Well, it's not a problem. You are supposed to be going as my date.

Vanessa: Oh, right. How would it look if I showed up alone, right?

Damon: Where are your bags?

Vanessa: Downstairs. I left them with the doorman. So you ready to go?

Damon: Well, there's no rush. The driver won't be here for a little while.

Vanessa: Really? So we have some time then?

Damon: Mm-hmm.

Vanessa: In that case, why not join me in a little send-off celebration? It's chilled.

Damon: No, thank you. Um, you go ahead, though.

Vanessa: Well, it's no fun by yourself. Come on, Damon. This could be exciting, you know? Us in Japan, working together again?

Damon: Yeah, I hear you.

Vanessa: Gee, Damon, don't sound so enthusiastic. You could give a girl a complex. You know, I'm sensing something's wrong.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael: Whoa, whoa, back up. How does Cameron Kirsten know who you are if nothing was said when he met with Nick?

Sharon: I went to see him.

Michael: What? Why would you risk that?

Sharon: Because Nick is insisting that I be at this dinner, and I had no idea what I'd be getting myself into. So I'm sorry if you don't approve, but I had to at least go and try and talk him out of it.

Michael: Well, that obviously backfired.

Sharon: The idea of tormenting me even more is obviously giving him some kind of sick pleasure.

Michael: Well, why... what makes you think that? What was said?

Sharon: Cameron was horrible to me. He treated me like I was some kind of whore. I mean, he--he insulted me, he threatened me.

Michael: All right, hold-- hold--hold on, right there. He threatened you?

Sharon: He said the only way that he would consider keeping his mouth shut is if I would give him something in return.

Michael: Sexual favors?

Sharon: Well, he didn't come out and say that, but I know damn well that's what he meant.

Michael: Well, in that case, we can have him arrested.

Sharon: No, we can't, Michael. We can't, because I don't want any of this to come out, not ever. God, all I want is for this guy to go away.

Michael: All right. Okay. Well, how long will he be in town?

Sharon: No idea. He's doing some huge deal with Newman Enterprises.

Michael: Do you know how that's going?

Sharon: I just want the guy to get out of town before he destroys my whole life for the sheer fun of it.

Michael: Do you really think this man is that vindictive?

Sharon: You should have seen what he did to my face in Denver. For no reason, out of the blue, he started hitting me with his fists.

Sharon: I'm afraid that once he has me trapped at that table, he's gonna blurt something out to Nick.

Michael: Sharon, I don't want to make light of your concerns, but I really don't think he would be that foolish. I mean, he's a businessman. He's in negotiations. This could be extremely lucrative for his company.

Sharon: He doesn't care out that, Michael. He would rather humiliate me. He gets more pleasure out of it. What am I gonna do? I can't go to this dinner tonight. I just can’t.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nick: So what, exactly, do you know?

Nikki: I know about the bribery, Nicholas. I know that he cheated.

Nick: That's gotta hurt.

Nick: How'd you find out?

Nikki: Well, you've been trying to warn me for months.

Nick: But you wouldn't listen to me. What changed your mind?

Nikki: Jack.

Nick: Jack came to you?

Nikki: Yes, he did. He filled me in on a lot of things, not just about your father.

Nick: Damn him.

Nikki: Don't you blame him. Don't you dare blame him.

Nick: Mom, you're acting like you're mad at me.

Nikki: Oh, why on earth would I be mad at you?

Nick: I don't know.

Nikki: How about a son's betrayal, does that ring a bell?

Nick: So you find out what dad did, yet, you're upset with me, not him?

Nikki: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Make no mistake; I am furious with your father. I've never felt such betrayal, but for you to compound this ugliness, it makes me sick. It makes me sick to my stomach that you could turn on your family this way.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jack: If you're considering violence here, Victor, I'd think again. You're in enough trouble as it is.

Victor: And you know all about that, don't you?

Jack: What, about the D.A.'s office being on your trail? Yeah, yeah, I know about that. All I can say is what took so long?

Victor: Where did they get their information?

Jack: Who knows? Could've stumbled onto it anywhere. You're a cheat, Victor. You're a crook. You've been getting away with it for years, only this time; you tripped over your own incredible ego.

Victor: You know, it's almost laughable, to be lectured by the likes of you about dishonesty.

Jack: Fine, don't listen to me. Listen to the jury when they do their job. Listen to the judge when he puts you away. Maybe the message will finally get through. You're a bad man, Victor, the kind society locks up.

Victor: You haven't denied using Nicholas against me.

Jack: Because it's preposterous. If Nicholas got wind of what you were doing, he did it on his own. If he turned you in, he deserves a medal. Maybe he's proof positive that the apple actually can fall far from the tree.

Victor: So you think my son turned me in?

Jack: I wasn't there. I don't know. Why don't you ask him?

Victor: This is your work, Jack Abbott. You can't take me on face-to-face, so you're using my son to humiliate me and my family.

Jack: How dare you bring up your family after what you've done to my marriage and my family? Tell me something, Victor, do you ever take any blame for any of your actions? Everyone knew--everyone-- the day you hired Michael Baldwin-- that you were up to something. Now you're bellowing like a wounded bull because you, what, you got caught, all the details are coming out? I can't believe it took so long. You're going down, my friend. You're going to jail, and your company's gonna self-destruct.

Victor: Now I know you're delusional.

Jack: I'm delusional, huh? You been reading the newspapers lately? The courts seem to be awfully anxious to snuff out white-collar crime--

Victor: Will you stop preaching?

Jack: You're going down.

Victor: Will you stop preaching? I'm here to find out whether I should confront my son or not.

Jack: Don't you dare hurt Nicholas. That boy has more integrity in his little finger than you'll ever dream of. But then, you've betrayed everyone else who ever gave a damn about you, which, by the way, includes my wife and yours. But then, why not punish the one guy; why not beat up the one guy who had the guts to say, "enough is enough"? That would be your style, too, wouldn't it?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Neil: So now it's Damon’s ex-girlfriend and Jack Abbott coming to our wedding. This is turning into quite a party. Who's coming next-- maybe Brad Carlton, huh?

Dru: No, because somebody has to stay behind and hold down the fort.

Neil: Are there any more surprises?

Dru: Like what?

Neil: Like maybe the Genoa City Philharmonic is gonna entertain us on the way over.

Dru: I love the philharmonic, but, no. Well, actually the more the merrier, right?

Neil: No, no, not at all. That's not gonna happen.

Dru: Sweetheart, these are my friends. They just want to participate in the blessed occasion.

Neil: You can stop right there, because you and I both know that this isn't about celebrating our blessed occasion.

Dru: I cannot believe you're taking issue with Jack Abbott, Damon and his friend Vanessa coming to our wedding.

Neil: Why would I want any of those people at our wedding? Do you know what really gets to me? The fact that whenever we talk about why they're all coming, suddenly you got super glue all over your lips.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vanessa: Okay, look, if you really don't want me going to Japan... I mean, if I'm just going to make you miserable...

Damon: Did I say that, Vanessa?

Vanessa: No, but that's how you're acting.

Damon: I'll tell you what, this whole trip has just gotten a little too complicated. That's all.

Vanessa: Do you know what we need?

Damon: What's that?

Vanessa: Something to break the ice between us. Look at me Damon. You haven't really done that since I've walked in.

Damon: I'm sorry.

Vanessa: Not very convincing.

Damon: Vanessa, whatcha want from me?

Vanessa: Well, a little warmth would be nice. I mean, I'm not some woman who showed up at your door selling magazine subscriptions.

Damon: No, no, you're certainly not that.

Vanessa: Well, see, that's better. It was almost a smile. I think you're ready for that icebreaker.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nick: Mom, I don't get this. I don't understand your attitude at all.

Nikki: At, that I don't share your moral indignation? What you don't seem to understand is that I have fought with everything in me to preserve this family-- your family-- but now you have made that impossible.

Nick: No, not me. Dad.

Nikki: I cannot believe that I was so naive that I actually thought that you and your father had a breakthrough in Toronto. Little did I know that you had already betrayed him before then.

Nick: Why is this my fault? I'm not the one who committed the crime.

Nikki: Because you dug and dug until you found dirt on your father, the man who loves you more than life itself, and then you handed that dirt on a silver platter to people who would use it against us. You're not just destroying your father here. You're destroying all of us.

Nick: I'm gonna say this again; I'm not the criminal here.

Nikki: Oh, God. What are you now, the conscience of the world? Don't tell me this had anything to do with justice. I know exactly why you did it. You did it to try to strike back at a father that you have had issues with since you were a little boy. You saw an opportunity to pay him back for what you thought was unfair treatment or him not letting you be your own person or whatever other twisted ideas you have in your little brain. Well, you did it. Congratulations. Are you happy? Do you feel better? Do you feel like a real big man now?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victor: It's astonishing how little you know me. After all these years of stealing from me, betraying me, cheating me and leaving me for dead-- stunning how little you know me.

Jack: Oh, brother. I know you think of yourself as a very complex person, Victor. You're really quite simple. You're greedy. You're greedy, and everything else stems from that. Nothing's ever enough. You always have to have more, and nothing, not kindness or love or human decency or, God forbid, respect for the law gets in the way of that.

Victor: Stop your hypocritical lecture about decency, kindness and honesty. You poisoned my son's mind against me.

Jack: And what about the wedge you drove between me and my wife? What is that, revenge?

Victor: You're using the confusion of a young man to get to me. That's the work of a coward, and cowards live in fear that someone is after them. And someone is. Just remember that.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael: Sharon, it really seems to me that it would be more dangerous to ignore this man, to not show up. If he is really as callous as you say he is, do you really want him ticked off and alone with your husband?

Sharon: So you're saying I have no choice?

Michael: I seriously doubt he would jeopardize his business dealings by spilling anything sordid to Nick. That being said, I think it would be safer for you to show up at this dinner. Look, he is toying with you, Sharon. This is gonna be unpleasant. It may even be degrading, but unless you're willing to threaten legal charges, there's nothing--

Sharon: No, no, definitely not.

Michael: All right, okay. Then you calm down, you go home, you get ready, and you solider through this evening. You gotta make the best of this. There's really nothing else to do this late in the day, all right?

Sharon: I guess you're right. You're right.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vanessa: Wow, I will say one thing for you, darling. You haven't lost your touch.

Damon: You neither.

Vanessa: Mmm. I'm sorry about what's happened between us the last 24 hours.

Damon: Me too.

Vanessa: Well, good. Then let's just forget about it.

Damon: Oh, now we gonna forget about it? You were pretty angry when you found out I was going to Japan.

Vanessa: Well, what did you expect? I got my feelings hurt. You didn't let me in on it. But truth be told, I'm really glad I'm going with you now.

Damon: Darling, it is extremely important that we appear as a couple.

Vanessa: Right, exactly. I mean, we wouldn't want anyone getting suspicious about why we were really over there.

Damon: No, no, no, no, secrecy is vital. I can't stress that enough.

Vanessa: Don't worry.

Damon: This entire project depends on it, all right?

Vanessa: I got it. And for the record, I understand why you debated whether to confide in me or not.

Damon: You do?

Vanessa: Of course. A woman who once shared your bed suddenly comes back into your life and wants to share a billion dollar idea. You wouldn't be human if you didn't wonder what I expected to get out of it.

Damon: And you said you wanted whatever was fair, yeah?

Vanessa: That I do, exactly. So it's all good. We're old friends, and I don't see a reason in the world why we both shouldn't enjoy this trip.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dru: Well, actually Damon and Jack do have some business while they're in Japan.

Neil: And since they're gonna be there anyway...

Dru: Well, it would have been against etiquette not to invite them, right?

Neil: Babe, why don't you tell me, what kind of business do Jack, Damon and Vanessa have in Japan?

Dru: Now, sweetheart, you know the rules. We don't discuss the details.

Neil: All three of these people have things to do? They just happened to have things to do over there?

Dru: Look, Vanessa is Damon’s date, I think. Why all the suspicion?

Neil: Well, first, you gotta admit that it's all a little sketchy here, don't you agree? I mean, you change the location of our wedding from Trinidad to Japan, and all of a sudden all these Jabot employees are popping up as our wedding guests. You know what? I have a strong hunch that there's more to this whole story. So if there's anything I should know...

Dru: Like what?

Neil: Now would be the time to tell me. I mean it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phyllis: Hi, victor. There you are.

Victor: You're looking for?

Phyllis: Yeah, I wanted to tell you, I'm taking a couple days off.

Victor: Hmm.

Phyllis: Yeah, you're aware that Neil and Dru are getting married in Japan?

Victor: Yes, they're taking my jet to fly there.

Phyllis: Well, I'm going, too.

Victor: I see.

Phyllis: I'm caught up on my work. There's no problem there.

Victor: All right, well, just don't worry about it. Just go, all right?

Phyllis: Okay, good, good. I'm sure you're glad to be getting rid of me.

Victor: Why do you say that? Have you talked to Michael?

Phyllis: No, why?

Victor: He convinced me that neither one of you are responsible for my legal problems.

Phyllis: I can't believe you'd think I'd turn you in.

Victor: Come in for a moment. I want to discuss something else with you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael: Ah, how'd you know I was missing you?

Victoria: I'm psychic. I'd have to be.

Michael: Okay, uh, I have been remiss.

Victoria: Yeah, you know, we had kind of a good time the other night, and then you don't call. It's kind of hard on a girl's ego.

Michael: I know. I wanted to reach for the phone so many times.

Victoria: So why didn't you?

Michael: There's so much going on.

Victoria: Yeah, tell me about it. I'm assuming you've heard the latest.

Michael: About what?

Victoria: My brother is running the company.

Michael: Oh, yeah. He apprised me personally

Victoria: That must have been special.

Michael: Very.

Victoria: Apparently my father is involved in some sort of legal situation, and he put Nicholas in charge.

Michael: So I gather.

Victoria: All right, I'm just gonna ask you straight out. Are you involved in this whole mess that my father is in, whatever it is?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victor: How are you doing?

Phyllis: Honestly?

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: Pretty bad. Jack and I broke up.

Victor: Yeah, he told me.

Phyllis: He did?

Victor: Mm-hmm, I just came from seeing him.

Phyllis: Oh, no.

Victor: Don't worry about it. No blood was shed.

Phyllis: Did you tell him that I had absolutely no involvement?

Victor: In the bribery? Yes, I told him. If you don't mind my saying so, Phyllis, I think you're better off without him.

Phyllis: Can we not talk about my marriage, please?

Victor: How much do you know about my son's involvement in all this? And, please, speak freely.

Phyllis: All right, I'll speak freely. Like Michael said, I think he seems like a likely candidate. He's been making some pretty dire statements for the last few months.

Victor: And he talked to your husband a lot.

Phyllis: He did?

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Phyllis: No, I mean, maybe some, but he didn’t...

Phyllis: Is Jack involved in this, too? Is Jack the one who turned you in?

Victor: No, I don't think it was Jack. I'm more and more convinced that it was my son.

Phyllis: That must be very hard to take.

Victor: I want to apologize for the damage my actions have done to your life, Phyllis. I should never have accused you of betraying me. I should never have told you about the bribery.

Phyllis: Well, I sort of begged you to tell me.

Victor: Yeah, I guess my need to talk about it overcame my good sense.

Phyllis: Yeah. Well, I'm obviously sorry for the way things turned out, but, um, if you needed to talk to somebody, I'm glad it was me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nikki: So what, you're just marching out of here, business as usual?

Nick: No, Mom, it's not business as usual, because I don't know how deep the dirt goes. But trust me, things are gonna change. I'm not gonna build my life or our family's business on deception and lies.

Nikki: Look, I don't disagree that your father shouldn't have done what he did. For the life of me, I don't know why he felt that was necessary.

Nick: Because he can't stand to lose.

Nikki: We could have dealt with it from within the family.

Nick: No, we couldn't, Mom. This wasn't some little backroom payoff. This was a multimillion dollar scandal. It's criminal.

Nikki: You know what? I hope that you never have a son who turns on you. I hope that you never have to feel the pain that your father is going to when this comes to light. And for your sake, I hope it doesn't kill him. Now get out of my sight. I can't bear looking at you. Go!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael: And you're asking me this question why?

Victoria: Well, you seem to be my father's fair-haired attorney these days. I would assume if there was an investigation going on, you would know about it.

Michael: Oh, so this isn't just a social visit?

Victoria: Excuse me?

Michael: This is what they used to call "a fishing expedition."

Victoria: Do you know what's going on with my father?

Michael: As much as I hate to avoid this question...

Victoria: You aren't at liberty to discuss it, huh?

Michael: Did you go to law school while I wasn't looking?

Victoria: Believe me, if I thought it would help...

Michael: You seem sad this evening.

Victoria: Do I?

Michael: How you handling all this?

Victoria: All what? I don't know what's going on, remember?

Michael: You know what I'm talking about.

Victoria: All right, I am scared for my father, and I could strangle my brother.

Michael: Why's that?

Victoria: Because I would bet you anything he's the one screwing over my father, and look who gets the reins.

Michael: Well, you know, it's certainly ironic.

Victoria: Is that all you have to say about it?

Michael: Okay, does it bother me that Nicholas is suddenly in a seat of power? You better believe it. But he's your brother, Victoria. He's family. Don't expect me to get in the middle of all of this and start choosing up sides. It's not my place.

Victoria: Michael Baldwin not stirring the pot?

Michael: Will wonders never cease?

Michael: Is there anything I can do for you? Two shoulders, no waiting. You don't even have to talk if you don't want to, because I know how it is when the whole world comes crashing down on you all at once.

Victoria: You're being so nice to me. I'm sorry. It’s...

Michael: Why?

Victoria: I shouldn't have come over here if I can't, you know...

Michael: What, what, you think the only relationship I can handle is fun and games?

Victoria: Is that what this is-- a relationship?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dru: Honey, I am stunned that we're having this kind of a conversation on the eve of our wedding.

Neil: Can you blame me for having questions?

Dru: I'm sorry. In my spirit I feel that this is about more than you asking me questions. Am I right?

Neil: Yeah, you're right. Phyllis and I had a little conversation earlier, and I just can't seem to get something out of my head.

Dru: What did she have to say?

Neil: Were you aware that she and jack have broken up?

Dru: What?

Neil: Yeah.

Dru: No!

Neil: You know what she blames it on? The burden of working for rival companies, having to keep so many secrets.

Dru: Sweetheart, listen, I know it's difficult to navigate our circumstances, but as long as you work for Newman-- sweetheart, listen to me-- and as long as I work for Jabot, we're going to have to have secrets, and we have to honor that. Now that doesn't mean we have to let the secrets come between us and how we feel about each other.

Neil: Yeah, well, I just wish I knew for a fact that that isn't gonna change.

Dru: It's not gonna happen, because we're not gonna let it happen.

Neil: That's the exact same thing that Phyllis and Jack said to each other.

Dru: Are you having second thoughts, hmm?

Neil: About our remarriage? No, not really. It's just hard, baby. You know, you hear about a friend's marriage taking such a bad nosedive, and it just makes you think. That's all.

Dru: Oh, baby you know, my mama always said, "think long, think wrong." Now I love you, and nothing is more important to me than our marriage-- you, me and Lily being a family again.

Neil: Oh, Dru, I feel the same way.

Dru: Well, then let's walk with faith, darling. Let's get up out of here. Our daughter is waiting downstairs in the limousine, and we have a whole new life ahead of us. Come on, lover.

Neil: All right, baby. (car pulls up)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nick: There you are. I was starting to worry.

Sharon: Am I really that late?

Nick: Yeah, but its okay. Where you been?

Sharon: I guess the time just got away from me.

Nick: Well, go get yourself changed, okay? Listen, I was thinking you should wear that blue dress. You know the sexy one I think you look so hot in.

Sharon: Isn't that a little revealing for a client dinner?

Nick: Yeah, but something tells me Cameron Kirsten’s got a bit of an eye for the ladies. It wouldn't hurt to charm him a little. So come on, let's go, okay? We don't want to keep the man waiting.

Sharon: Nick, there's something I need to discuss with you.

Nick: Let's talk about it in the car.

Sharon: No, it has to be now, before I get ready.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael: Oh, you know what they say about this kind of thing?

Victoria: No, no, I don’t. What do they say?

Michael: You try and put a label on something, and it's like the kiss of death.

Victoria: Really? Why is that?

Michael: I just don't want you to have any unrealistic expectations about me.

Victoria: What do you mean, "unrealistic"?

Michael: Well, you know, don't go putting me on any pedestals, you know.

Victoria: (Chuckles) you mean because of your big, bad reputation?

Michael: Oh, yeah, your family's tangled with me before.

Victoria: Oh, so I should be scared off because of experience?

Michael: Maybe we should change the subject.

Victoria: You're the one who brought it up.

Michael: Hmm, did I?

Victoria: You know, this is kind of amusing, because unless you're counting the gala, we haven't even had a proper date.

Michael: You're teasing me.

Victoria: Maybe. Don't ask me how I know this, but I get the feeling that you wouldn't hurt me.

Michael: Yeah, you're right about that. Certainly not on purpose.

Victoria: Then you have to do something for me.

Michael: What?

Victoria: I'm worried about my father. I think he's facing dark times. You have to protect him any way you can.

Michael: Well, let's just hope to God it doesn't come to that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victor: You just go on, Phyllis. I'm sure you have some packing to do. Enjoy yourself, have some fun, forget about your troubles.

Phyllis: Hey, victor, why don't you come, too? I'm sure Neil would be proud to have you there.

Victor: That's very nice of you to suggest that, but I have a feeling that the district attorney's office would consider that fleeing from justice, so thanks, but no thanks. I have a lot of things to do around here.

Phyllis: It was Nicholas.

Victor: Yeah, the evidence points to it more and more, doesn't it? It's so damn hard to accept.

Phyllis: I guess you'd have to hear it straight from his mouth.

Victor: Yeah, I guess I'd have to.

Phyllis: Sometimes it's best not knowing.

Victor: I think you may be right.

Victor: You have a good time, Phyllis.

Victor: Maybe it is best not knowing.

Victor: My boy. My boy... was it really you?
