Michael: can I get you something?
Victor: No, thank you.
Michael: I sense you're displeased.
Victor: You got that right.
Phyllis: I'm sorry. Did you just say something about us being traitors?
Victor: Indeed, I did.
Michael: Care to explain?
Victor: You know exactly what you have done.
Phyllis: No--no, we don’t. Can you help us out?
Michael: She is right. We don't have any idea what you mean.
Victor: Is that how you're gonna play it?
Phyllis: Play what? Vic--
Victor: You turned me in to the authorities. If that isn't treachery, I don't know what you'd call it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nick: What have I done to Dad? What are you talking about?
Sharon: Well, your sister here has been making all kinds of acquisitions.
Nick: What is this about?
Nikki: It's about you and your father, your feelings toward him.
Victoria: I'm not making wild accusations. Something's going on.
Sharon: Like what?
Victoria: I don't know, but I can feel it.
Nikki: Your sister has very strong convictions, obviously. But I think that you and your father really connected in Toronto like you never have.
Nick: That's true, Mom, but like I said, it was one moment.
Nikki: Fine. One moment, one step-- the first step of many to rebuilding your relationship.
Victoria: Really? Is that how it's gonna be, Nicholas? Can you look at our mother and tell her, honestly, that's the way things are? I don't think so.
Sharon: Nick, what's going on? Is there any truth to what Victoria’s saying?
Nick: It's hard for me to answer, since I don't know what she's saying.
Nikki: She's saying you hate your father... but I don't think that's true. Is it?
Victoria: Well? What are you gonna say? Do you have an answer for her, an honest one?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vanessa: Damon's going to Japan?
Neil: Apparently so.
Vanessa: How do you know this?
Neil: He mentioned it to a mutual friend.
Vanessa: Who?
Neil: Mutual friend happen to mention why Damon was going to Japan?
Neil: You see, I was hoping maybe you could tell me that.
Vanessa: Why are you so interested?
Neil: It's a long story.
Vanessa: Aren't they all? Listen; are you absolutely certain that this is not idle gossip?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damon: Pardon me, you and Neil? No. No, you're not.
Dru: Yes, we are
Damon: No, it will be a disaster. I need to go by myself. If word gets out about what I'm doing there--
Dru: It won’t. Trust me.
Damon: Why am I not reassured?
Dru: Listen, Damon, I don't want to be left out of the fold. I'm just as stoked about this as you are. Besides, let's face facts, I am your backup.
Damon: No, look-- "a," I don't need backup. "B," what happen if Neil sees me, hmm? How do you propose to explain that?
Dru: Well, actually--
Damon: Because he will, you know? It's not a he area. We can't just chalk it up to mere coincidence, all right? Not to mention, you'll be just a little bit tied up, can't you?
Dru: Yeah, but I can talk--
Damon: What are you gonna do, hmm? What are you planning to do? Are you gonna skip out on your wedding night to go chunting, hmm?)
Dru: Relax, okay. I've got it covered.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris: Oh, I do not need this.
Mary: Christine, it's Mary. I know you're in there. I asked the doorman. So would you please open up?
Chris: Mary, it's not a good time.
Mary: No, I promise, I won't take long.
Chris: I don't mean to be rude, it's just--
Mary: It's important, or I wouldn't have come.
Chris: Yeah, well, I've had a really long day, okay? I am dead tired.
Mary: All right. Well, then I'll do the talking. I know that Paul has moved out, but I'
Chris: You know what? Just--just stop. Please, the last thing I want to do is get into some big discussion about my personal life.
Mary: Well, then let's talk about Paul’s personal life.
Chris: What about it?
Mary: I don't know what's going on between you and my son. My son is moving on. And I'm here to warn you that he's not doing it alone.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul: Well, now this could be a positive thing. He could teach the reindeer how to defy the law of gravity.
Lauren: Oh, God. You know, it's just amazing to me, in this dicey economy, the kind of people that came in for a temporary holiday job. You know, it was sad.
Paul: Well, you know...
Lauren: So... what do you want for Christmas, little boy?
Paul: Well, maybe just to spend a little more time with the lady that runs Fenmore’s.
Lauren: And what are your qualifications?
Paul: Well, I tell you what, you hire me as Santa, and you can come over here and sit on my lap and find out for yourself.
Lauren: Oh. Well, now you're talking.
Neil: Uh, listen, Vanessa-- if I can call you that-- you seem kind of upset. I certainly didn't mean to touch a nerve.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vanessa: I've been such a fool, trusting that man again.
Neil: Trusting him about what?
Vanessa: You'll have to excuse me. I have someplace to go.
Neil: No, wait a minute. Let me buy you a refill. What are you drinking, a latte, right?
Vanessa: No, thanks. Really.
Neil: Oh, come on. You can spare me a couple of minutes, can't you?
Vanessa: Couple of minutes for what? We have nothing to talk about.
Neil: I think we do. I just gave you some important information.
Vanessa: So?
Neil: So how about returning the far?
Vanessa: Look, Mr. Winters—
Neil: Neil.
Vanessa: Neil, you volunteered that information. I didn't ask for it. Mean, it's not like we have any kind of relationship. I don't know you from Adam. So I hardly think I owe you anything. Besides, nothing to tell.
Neil: You know what I think? I think there's more going on between you and Damon than you care to admit-- a lot more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damon: Inviting me? To your wedding?
Dru: It's a good cover, you gotta admit.
Damon: You're out of your mind.
Dru: Why would be out of my mind? I mean, you are my business associate. Someone I work very closely with. Of course, I wanted to invite everybody from Jabot to the wedding, but somebody has to stay home and hold down the fort.
Damon: And I just happen to be going to Japan at the exact same moment? Drucilla, baby, what's wrong with you?
Dru: It's perfect, Damon. I mean, I've been talking to you about the wedding, then I tell you I changed the location. Everybody knows that you're Mr. Asian philosophy feng shui. Mr. Zen. You're going there on vacation.
Damon: And you honestly expect Neil to buy this?
Dru: Oh, he will buy it 'cause I'm gonna sell him on it. I can do that.
Damon: I had thought your fiancé was an intelligent fella.
Dru: He is, but I'm a very intelligent woman.
Damon: This is stupid!
Damon: Uh-oh.
Dru: "Uh-oh," what?
Damon: I told Phyllis.
Dru: Told Phyllis what?
Damon: That I was going to Japan. What if she told Neil?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nick: When did you hear me say I hated dad? Have you ever heard those words come out of my mouth?
Victoria: You didn't have to say it. The degree of antipathy and contempt was so evident... the utter lack of respect.
Nick: That's not the same thing as hate.
Victoria: Oh, so now we're playing word games? Mother thinks that this trip to Toronto was some miracle in the making. How can you, in good conscience, let her cling to that?
Nick: Why are you so determined to rip it away from her?
Victoria: Because I know the truth. You wanted me to be involved in your little plan. You wanted me to be a part of whatever it was you were gonna do, and I said no. You know what I think? I think you've already done it. It's happened, and now the rest of us just have to sit around and wait for the fallout.
Nick: What is it you think I did?
Victoria: I don't know. But when I saw our father on that doorstep all by himself, there was a look on his face that I had never seen before.
Nikki: Victoria, he had just come from meeting his father. He had a very traumatic experience.
Victoria: No, no, this is something more. I could tell. I could see it in his eyes. There was something troubling. It was more.
Sharon: Why do you say that?
Victoria: Because I'm his daughter, and I know him. I can read him, and I felt it. You' h his son, and you felt it, too. Now what I want know is what you had to do with it.
Nik: : You know, I refuse to accept any of what you're saying.
Victoria: I don't blame you, mother. I don't blame you. Why would you want to believe that your son could hate his father? But that's the way it is. It's too painful to believe any of that, but I gotta tell ya, if you think we've had painful times, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Nick: All right, just shut up, Victoria, all right? You shut up.
Victoria: What, Nicholas, did I push a button? Are you feeling guilty?
Nick: Get off my back, all right? I'm tired of this. I'm taking my wife to dinner. Let's go, Sharon.
Sharon: Uh, yeah. Of course, honey. Of course.
Nikki: Nice work. Are you happy now?
Victoria: You're gonna remember this conversation. You're gonna remember it real soon. At least you've been forewarned.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael: Victor, where is this coming from?
Phyllis: You think we turned you in?! Us?
Victor: One or both of you.
Phyllis: We were just talking about you, actually.
Victor: I'm sure you were.
Michael: No, Phyllis was talking about the problems she's having with--
Phyllis: No. No. No. No. No. No, that's personal, please.
Victor: Is it really?
Phyllis: Yes.
Michael: Will you stop acting like you know everything, Victor? It's obvious you don’t.
Victor: What I do know that I have a knife sticking in my back, Baldwin!
Michael: Phyllis and I didn't put it there.
Victor: Then who did? Only you and you know that both of us took a few steps to boost Safra's sales. No one else knew that.
Phyllis: Which, I have to tell you honestly, I still don't understand. We didn't need to crush anybody, but that's beside the point. I never told anyone.
Victor: Why I ever told you in the first place is beyond me.
Phyllis: Yeah, I wish to God you would have never told me. It's been a weight on my back ever since, but I never told my husband.
Victor: And is that why you came here, to unburden that weight with him, is that why?
Phyllis: No, I knew he was involved, and I faked him into admitting it.
Victor: At what time did you both realize that to save your own asses it would be best to turn me in? Did you make a deal with them, Baldwin?
Michael: As a matter of fact, no. I told the federal prosecutor to go jump in a lake.
Victor: What about you?
Phyllis: Christine asked me if I knew of any illegal activity at Newman Enterprises, and I told her no.
Victor: No one had the information. No one had the motivation that either one of you have. You, because you're married to Jack Abbott. And you because you're just a rattlesnake.
Michael: Oh, now we're at name-calling again. I thought we'd moved past that. Now listen, Victor, Phyllis and I did not rat you out. Phyllis doesn't want this coming out, especially since you brought her into the inner circle of those who need to know. If her husband finds out she knew and didn't tell him, her marriage is over. And I am in this up to my neck as much as you are if not more.
Victor: What deal did you make with the authorities in return for my scalp?
Michael: That always means copping to a lesser plea. I would lose my license to practice law. There is no scenario that you can come up with where Phyllis and I betray you. It just doesn't make sense on any level.
Victor: No one else would be motivated to go to the authorities. No one else had the information.
Michael: One other person does, but you're not gonna want to hear that.
Victor: What are you talking about? What are you talking about? What are you talking about?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris: I assume you're talking about Lauren.
Mary: Oh, then you know?
Chris: Lynne seems to think she's putting out feelers.
Mary: Well, I'm afraid it's beyond that, way beyond.
Chris: Meaning...?
Mary: It's true Lauren is the aggressor, but Paul isn't saying no.
Chris: Mary, why are you telling me this? I mean, do you think they're--
Mary: Dating? Dating, yes, that's exactly what I think.
Chris: So what? Paul and Lauren have been close friends for a long time. It doesn't surprise me that they'd want to spend time together. So, you know, if you're just here to stir things up...
Mary: It's true, Paul and Lauren are friends, but they've also been a lot more to each other. And my every instinct tells me that history is repeating itself.
Chris: I'm not interested on your speculations about Paul’s love life.
Mary: This is not just idle speculation.
Chris: Mary, just stop.
Mary: I walked into my living room the other day and I caught them kissing. Now how's that for friendship?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul: So tell me, how's the fish?
Lauren: Mmm, it's fantastic. I may even have to compliment Gina.
Paul: Oh, God forbid that happen. What?
Lauren: I don't know, just--
Paul: What?
Lauren: It feels really good hanging out together.
Paul: Very good, doesn't it?
Lauren: Yeah. And since this, you know, whatever it is, it's going along so nicely. What would you say about us seeing a bit more of each other?
Paul: Sounds great. I mean, what do you mean by "a bit"? Certainly not 12 1/2 cents.
Lauren: Why don't you take me up on my offer and find out?
Paul: Oh, your offer from the other night?
Lauren: I'm glad to see that you haven't forgotten.
Paul: Forgotten? How could any red-blooded American man forget an offer to move in with a woman like you?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gina: So when did those two arrive?
Johnny: Awhile ago. I think Dennis seated them. You were on break.
Gina: Has my brother been around?
Johnny: Danny? I haven't seen him lately. I'm not even sure he's in the building.
Gina: Good. I hope he doesn't have to go through seeing them.
Nick: Hey, Gina.
Gina: Oh, hi.
Nick: Is the founder's room ready?
Gina: Hey, listen, I have everything set up perfectly for you. Follow me.
Nick: Thank you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul: Oh, that's so much better. Thank you.
Lauren: Yes, thank you. Now we are talking about the guest room.
Paul: Oh, right.
Lauren: No, I'm serious. And it's just until you get yourself your own place. I mean, there is no reason for you to spend all this money on a hotel when you can be staying with me. And I promise you it'll be a lot more fun.
Paul: You know, as tempting as that offer is, I think I'm fine right where I am. As you said, it won't be long, and then I'll have a place of my own.
Lauren: Which I think will be very good for you, you know, fresh start. You're thinking about Chris.
Paul: Well, it is strange, you know. One day you're out shopping for engagement rings, and then... you find yourself out on your own again.
Lauren: You okay?
Paul: Well, as long as Chris and I aren't in sync, that's just the way it has to be. But it is rather disconcerting not to have any idea what the future holds.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gina: Here we go, Sharon.
Sharon: Thank you, Gina.
Gina: And what can I get you to drink?
Sharon: I think I'm gonna have an iced tea.
Gina: Nick, what would you like to have from the bar?
Nick: A scotch and water, please.
Gina: I'll be right back.
Sharon: Well, we came here to have a good time, remember?
Nick: Yeah.
Sharon: Well, we can talk about what just happened if you want to.
Nick: I really don’t.
Sharon: Okay, we'll talk about something else then.
Nick: No, we need to, because Victoria was right. I've been making a lot of threats for a long time trying to protect people from the truth. But you are my wife. You deserve to know what's going on.
Sharon: Nick, you're scaring me.
Nick: Well, it's scary stuff. You know how I've been saying that dad did something wrong? Well, that something was illegal, and it's gonna come back to haunt him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vanessa: Even if there was something going on between Damon and me, let me assure you, there isn't anymore.
Neil: Uh-oh. Have I stumbled into the middle of a lovers' quarrel?
Vanessa: Oh, please, give me a break, will you?
Neil: So then what you're telling me is that your relationship with damon is, um... strictly business.
Vanessa: I'm not telling you anything.
Neil: Well, I just assumed that--
Vanessa: Exactly.
Neil: I mean, you and Damon once worked together, right, at satine cosmetics? So when I first met you in my office, you did say that you had something very important to discuss with him.
Vanessa: Yes, friends do that, or haven't you heard?
Neil: And didn't you also say that you are currently employed by Peachtree pharmaceuticals?
Vanessa: Your point?
Neil: Nothing, except you have this important job, yet you're still here in Genoa City. So whatever your business was with Damon, evidently it's not finished.
Vanessa: If you're looking for a mystery, Mr. Winters, you should try the library. I mean, even if there was something mysterious going on, which there isn't, why would I tell you?
Neil: Ms. Lerner, you know why Damon is going to Japan, though, don't you? Can't you just tell me that much?
Vanessa: Oh, my, look at the time. I have to run. I would say it's nice seeing you again, but it wouldn't be true.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damon: If Neil is already putting the pieces together... how close are he and Phyllis?
Dru: They work together. I wouldn't call them bosom buddies.
Damon: But they talk, probably every day. Hey, when you sprang your idea about swapping out Trinidad for Japan, how did he take it?
Dru: Uh, he was a little surprised.
Damon: Just surprised? You didn't pick up on anything else?
Dru: No. No, all right. He acted a little strange.
Damon: Yeah, I just bet he did. Phyllis mentions I'm off to the Ryukyu Islands, all of a sudden you're all hot to go there, too, to the same obscure little archipelago in the far east. Thank you very much.
Dru: He is not gonna suspect anything, okay? And nobody knows why you're going to Japan at Newman Enterprises-- unless you said something to blabbermouth Phyllis.
Damon: I didn’t.
Dru: You sure you didn't mention the orchid?
Damon: No.
Dru: Well, then why you trippin'? Let's stick to the vacation story. It's completely reasonable, and Neil will accept it. Trust me.
Damon: I hate it.
Dru: You hate what?
Damon: The whole thing. It stinks, and your fiancé isn't a moron, or is he? No one can know, Dru. No one can know what jabot is looking into!
Dru: No one will know. Would you trust me?
Damon: That's the second time you've said that.
Dru: Said what?
Damon: "Trust me." In my experience, when a person leans too heavily on a particular phrase--
Dru: What do you want me to do, cancel the wedding?
Damon: Yes.
Dru: No. It's completely situated.
Damon: Well, that is your self-made problem. I don't want you to go! You're lying to Neil. You're flying completely blind.
Dru: Okay. Okay. You know what's fishy? If we cancel the wedding at the 11th hour. You want to talk about bringing suspicion to the situation.
Damon: Cancel it because I'm going. There you go. You tell him you just found out. It's too weird a coincidence, and you don't feel comfortable.
Dru: That's rich.
Damon: You know what? I don't care what you tell him.
Dru: You know, I'm not gonna tell him anything. I'm gonna tell him we're gonna get married in the Ryukyu Islands Japan. And like it or not, I am your ace in the hole. Now, darling, I got a lot to do here. I got a lot of errands. I gotta finish my packing, and I have to get a good night's sleep. Because that's a bear of a trip, and I don't want to look jet-lagged, you know, for my wedding photographs. You know what? You know what else? I'll see you at the airport. I'll be on the Newman jet, okay? Sayonara.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victor: What did you say? And I don't want to hear any of your self-serving theories now.
Phyllis: Victor. Victor, let him talk, please. Let him talk.
Victor: No, you tell me what he was gonna say.
Michael: Let me tell you what I was gonna--
Victor: No. No. No, let her. If you know the truth, you tell me. Who turned me in?
Phyllis: Please. Can you just help me out?
Victor: Who turned me in?!
Michael: It was Nicholas.
Victor: What did you say?
Michael: We believe it was Nicholas who contacted the authorities.
Victor: What did you say? You're accusing my son of turning me in? Is that what you have come up with? You son of a bitch. How dare you suggest that? You're accusing my son of turning me in?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sharon: You know this for a fact?
Nick: Yes.
Sharon: Bribery, the real thing?
Nick: I don't have my father on tape handing out cash or anything like that, but all the pieces fit together.
Sharon: And the guy from Nelsons stores?
Nick: Pete Hudson. This man has no reason to make all this stuff up, because he's gonna be in a lot of trouble, too. Then there's the sales figures and the fact that Dad called Ashley to warn her that things were gonna get real bad.
Sharon: Nick, are you sure that you're not just seeing what you want to see?
Nick: Don't you realize how relieved I would be if there was some other way for me to explain all this?
Sharon: But why would Victor cheat? I mean, honey, Newman Enterprises is huge. Safra's only a small part of it.
Nick: That's real simple. It's because he hates Jack so much.
Sharon: Nick, your father is able to separate emotion from business. He never would have accomplished what he has.
Nick: Except when it comes to Jack. Look, I'm sure my father thought it would be a lot of fun to destroy Jabot since it was so financially strapped. But what he didn't stop to consider was all the people that he would hurt other than Jack.
Sharon: John, Ashley, Brad.
Nick: And, Sharon, they're just the obvious ones. Look, Jabot is not a small company. Thousands of people are able to live and survive because of Jabot.
Sharon: Nick, companies fail, you know, it happens.
Nick: You're not understanding me. If you stack the deck, if you make the game unfair to your advantage, that is against the law.
Sharon: Well, are you sure it was bribery and not just a few incentives?
Nick: Look, I'm sure my father thought they were incentives, because lord knows he doesn't make mistakes. So he had to convince himself that what he was doing was harmless. But it wasn't harmless, Sharon it was cruel and unnecessary.
Sharon: I can't believe this is real.
Nick: I know you've been a real big supporter of his.
Sharon: And I still am, Nick. Look, I hear what you're saying, okay? I realize that you have evidence that you believe in, but, you know, I also think that you've been really down on your Dad lately. You've mentioned how he suffocates you and how you feel like you're always under his thumb.
Nick: This is way more than that.
Sharon: Look, its not easy working for your father, especially when he's a man like Victor Newman. It wouldn't be easy for anyone.
Nick: Sharon, I don't need any excuses. I've told you many times I can't have my children look up to me and respect me knowing that I work for some crooked company. I can't take pride in Newman Enterprises knowing that we are winning illegally. I just can't do that.
Sharon: Have you talked to your Dad about this?
Nick: Yeah, but he doesn't know what I know.
Sharon: All right, you said that this was gonna come back to haunt him.
Nick: The district attorney's office is investigating him as we speak.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul: Okay. All kidding aside, I just feel as though--
Lauren: Oh, you're not getting heavy on me, are you?
Paul: No, please. I need to say this. I don't want there to be any misunderstandings.
Lauren: Look, I know you're not in the position to promise me anything.
Paul: I'm not in a position to-- you knew.
Lauren: For the record, I'm not putting a label on this. I mean, of course, if I thought this was some sort of random rebound...
Paul: Yeah?
Lauren: Hell, I'd just enjoy the rebound.
Paul: I knew you were gonna say that.
Gina: Hi, you two.
Paul: Hi, Gina.
Gina: I didn't realize you were here. So how was everything this evening?
Paul: Oh, it was great.
Lauren: Yeah, the snapper was fabulous.
Gina: Good. Thank you, Lauren. So are you here on business?
Paul: Um, well... gee, if we're here on business, I plumb forgot my attaché case.
Lauren: I believe this is more of an exploratory meeting.
Paul: Yeah, see, we are exploring the possibility of, um... what exactly are we...
Lauren: I plumb forgot.
Paul: Two plumbs.
Gina: I get the hint, Lauren. Well, I'll just go and leave you alone to enjoy the rest of the evening.
Paul: Thanks.
Lauren: Thank you. Yes. Whoo! That was close.
Paul: You know, it's really hard to keep a secret in this town.
Lauren: Is that what we're doing, having a clandestine little fling?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris: This is really none of my business.
Mary: Well, Paul and Lauren were on the couch together. They didn't even hear the door open, they were so busy--
Chris: Yeah, okay. Okay, I get the picture. What were they doing alone in your house in the first place?
Mary: Well, evidently Paul was planning to stay there a few days while I was away on a retreat. But my trip was cancelled, so I came home early. I don't know who was more surprised, me or the lovebirds.
Chris: I don't need any more details, thanks.
Mary: Christine, I'm really not telling you all this to upset you. I just think you ought to know what's going on, laurel being the conniving opportunist she is.
Chris: Is Paul still at your place?
Mary: Unfortunately, no, and I don't know where he's living. I do have my suspicions, but it makes me sick to think about them.
Chris: I appreciate your concern. I think it's time for you to go.
Mary: Christine, do you still love my son?
Chris: Please leave.
Mary: If you do, you better make your move. Because mark my words, Lauren Fenmore is making hers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damon: What you gonna do now, Damon Porter?
Vanessa: Talking to yourself, Damon? It's a bad sign, you know.
Damon: Vanessa. How are you? What brings you over here?
Vanessa: Well, I just thought I'd make a little friendly visit, that's all. Didn't catch you at a bad time, did I?
