(not entirely sure if this is the right date)

nick: So you still haven't said what's happened.

Victor: Evidently, charges are gonna be brought against me. I guess I made a serious error in judgment as to who I could trust.

Nick: What are you saying?

Victor: What I'm saying is i believe i know who did this to me.

Victor: You're awfully quiet.

Nick: I don't know what you want me to say.

Victor: I don't remember ever feeling quite like this.

Nick: I'm sorry about that.

Victor: Yeah. And I'm sorry about the error in judgment that is gonna cost me dearly.

Nick: I still don't know what's going on. I mean...

Victor: You remember christine blair, when she came to the plane, saying that she needed to talk to me?

Nick: Yeah, but she wouldn't say anything in front of me.

Victor: She represents the district attorney's office.

Nick: Right.

Victor: The question is, where did she get her information? Someone must have gone to the prosecutor. Who the hell would turn against me like this?

Nikki: Victoria, I don't like what i'm hearing from you.

Victoria: I don't like saying it.

Sharon: What makes you so convinced that there's some big secret?

Victoria: Because of the way they're acting. Nicholas and dad, both of them.

Nikki: What, all of this because your father asked you to leave the room so he could talk to nicholas?

Victoria: No, there's more. There's much more.

Nikki: Well, what? Tell us.

Victoria: I'm trying to tell you, but you won't listen.

Nikki: I'm gonna say what i said to nicholas-- I have not felt this much peace of mind for months, all because of the change that i see in your father and your brother.

Sharon: Victoria, how could you see that incredibly emotional moment with your father, talking about how nicholas led him out of the room, the son becoming the father... How could you hear that and not realize that things have changed?

Victoria: Because you're not looking at the whole picture.@ I am warning you, when you start looking at all the pieces put together, it's gonna be really grim.

Phyllis: Okay, I... I don'T... I don't understand this. You said that the feds were after you and victor. But now you're saying that we should be afraid of christine, too?

Michael: Not "too." Instead.

Phyllis: Instead of the feds?

Michael: They handed the case over to the D.A.'S office. It was purely a scheduling matter. A case of available manpower, timing, whatever.

Phyllis: Okay, so what you're saying is this is worse?

Michael: The federal prosecutor has got a lot on his plate. I was hanging on to the hope that they'd take a look at us and decide there wasn't a enough evidence.

Phyllis: And they passed it on.

Michael: Yes, which tells me that despite their lack of resources at the moment, they like the case.

Phyllis: Okay. So we... We haven't gotten through the first circle of hell?

Michael: Right. We're at the second circle of hell. Welcome. Going down.

Phyllis: Okay, all right, let me get this straight. Let me get this straight. So what you're telling me now is our fate is in christine's hands.

Michael: Yes.

Phyllis: Oh, my god, michael, do something to make her lay off.

Michael: No. It's a bribery case, phyllis. If i try to influence the D.A.'S office... I mean, figure it out for yourself.

Phyllis: Oh, my god. This has gone too far now.

Michael: Hmm?

Phyllis: I have to tell jack.

Michael: Tell jack what?

Phyllis: I have to tell him. I have to tell him everything.

Michael: Tell jack what? No. Whoa, stop.

Phyllis: That victor bribed people.

Michael: Phyllis, you're not telling jack anything.

Phyllis: Yes!

Michael: No, you're not telling him anything. You hear me? Nothing.

Neil: (Whistling)

dru: Hi.

Neil: Hey, you need a hand?

Dru: Yeah. Yes, indeedy.

Neil: Okay. Come on. Let me... Traveling very light, I see.

Dru: Man, don't be funny.

Neil: Okay, fine.

Dru: Don't be funny. Don't even start.

Neil: Zip it yourself.

Dru: Okay.

Neil: Where did lily go?

Dru: She went to fenmore'S. You know, to get some more wardrobe for the trip.

Neil: Wait. Now hold on a minute. What's wrong with the wardrobe-- all the items that she has in her closet?

Dru: See, men don't understand. You're clueless.

Neil: Are we now?

Dru: Yeah. Honey, do you realize we're leaving tomorrow for japan?

Neil: Yeah, i know we're leaving for japan, but first, I gotta go to the office and wrap up a few things.

Dru: Me too. Me too. And I'm gonna go through that stuff like a hot knife through butter.

Neil: Oh, yeah, and then it's sayonara, genoa city, hello, japan.

Dru: Baby, I am so excited i could pop.

Neil: Oh, yeah?

Dru: Yeah.

Neil: Well, are you ready to be excited even more?

Dru: What? What?

Damon: Ashley's at home now?

Brad: Yeah, she's resting. Still a long road ahead of her. The biggest challenge with ash will be keeping her from doing too much too soon.

Damon: I'm sure. Well, if there's anything i can do...

Brad: Ah, damon, you've already done it, believe me, especially now that you're on the verge of giving us this breakthrough that could save the company.

Damon: Easy. Let's just take that one step at a time, shall we say?

Brad: I hear the caution. But I also hear a hell of a lot of excitement in your voice. True or false? (doorbell rings)

jill: Charles, the door.

Charles: May I help you?

Kay: Is jill home?

Jill: Oh, you might as well let her in, charles. She won't go away until she's said and done whatever it is she wants to say and do.

Charles: I'll take your coat.

Kay: Thank you.

Kay: Well, nice to see you, too.

Jill: So much for having this house to myself.

Charles: Will there be anything else, ms. Abbott?

Jill: No, charles, thank you. But don't wander off. I may need you for something.

Kay: A male maid, hmm?

Jill: Katherine, katherine, a maid is a woman. Charles is my manservant. God, i love the sound of that.

Neil: Hmm-hmm-hmm.

Dru: Neil, do not keep me in suspense.

Neil: All right, you ready for this?

Dru: Would you come on?

Neil: Okay. We are going to japan in victor newman's jet.

Dru: Shut up. Victor newman's jet?

Neil: That's what i said. Victor newman's jet.

Dru: Oh, we're going to japan in victor newman's jet. We're flying to japan in victor newman's jet.

Neil: Yes. Yes, baby.

Dru: We're gonna see everything in... Whoo!

Neil: It's funny. You haven't said anything about work.

Dru: Work? So what about it?

Neil: Aren't you afraid that jabot's gonna fall apart if you're off playing newlywed across the pacific?

Dru: Man, in case you haven't noticed, we have been falling apart, okay?

Neil: Well, maybe by the time we get back, things will be lookin' up.

Dru: From your lips to god's ears, but don't let victor newman hear you say that.

Neil: Yeah, i won't.

Dru: Victor newman's jet.

Neil: I'll tell you what...

Dru: What?

Neil: Why don't we make a pact, you and me? Why don't we put all business issues completely out of our mind while we're gone?

Dru: Deal.

Neil: Hey.

Damon: Brad, I gotta say, I wouldn't have asked for the funds to travel to japan if i didn't think this extract had potential.

Brad: How much potential?

Damon: Well... Look, if i can duplicate vanessa's results in the lab, and if we can mass produce it in a cost-effective manner--

brad: I'm hearing a lot of ifs.

Damon: You should be. But the potential is huge.

Brad: Huge?

Damon: Yeah. I mean, don't make me over-promise before i've had a chance to test the stuff. But I've known vanessa forever. She wouldn't waste her time or mine if there wasn't quite a value here.

Brad: Man, oh, man.

Damon: You sound like you're excited enough for both of us.

Brad: Well, if this breakthrough is all that I'm starting to think it is-- a hair straightener that works this simply, this effectively, no harsh chemicals...

Damon: Be a beautiful thing.

Brad: Be a beautiful way to stick it to newman.

Damon: Yeah, sounds to me like they're having trouble enough of their own.

Brad: You've heard the rumors?

Damon: It's hard not to.

Brad: Yeah, even with fingers stuck in both ears.

Damon: Well, when the grapevine's buzzing that loud, it's kind of difficult to ignore.

Brad: And it's all true, every ugly detail.

Damon: So newman broke the law when they rolled out safra?

Brad: It's just a matter of proving it in front of a judge.

Damon: That's easier said than done sometimes, isn't it?

Brad: Not in this case. From what I understand, it was pretty blatant. Now that's secondhand information, but it's from a very powerful, very reliable source.

Damon: I'll be damned.

Brad: The day a criminal conviction gets handed down, jabot will file a massive civil suit. If, on top of that, we're ready to roll out with this breakthrough of yours, it'll be an incredible one-two punch, right in the wallet, where that greedy bastard will feel it most. If this all pans out, damon, we'll exact revenge on newman beyond my wildest dreams.

Damon: Revenge, is it? Well, it seems like you considered all the angles.

Brad: The toll that victor newman has taken on me, taken on my family... I want him to pay. Oh, god, how i want him to pay.

Want to feel clear,

Nikki: I don't like all this doomsday talk.

Victoria: Well, considering how nicholas feels about dad, I'm surprised he was able to offer the kind of support that he did.

Nikki: What do you mean? What are you saying?

Victoria: Nicholas hates him, mother.

Nikki: How can you say that?

Victoria: I am sorry, but it's true. That's the way it is. Tell her, sharon. Tell her she's wearing rose-colored glasses.

Nikki: I will not believe that there is that kind of antipathy.

Victoria: That's because you don't want to believe it. You're wearing blinders.

Nikki: Look, I admit, we have had some difficult times. Your brother does have divided loyalties. He feels close ties to the abbotts.

Victoria: He doesn't have divided loyalties. He's loyal to the abbotts.

Sharon: Oh, victoria, I don't know if I believe that.

Victoria: Then you don't know your husband very well. Think about it, sharon. Nicholas told me about a conversation the two of you had. He said that your loyalty either had to be to him or to dad. Do you remember that conversation?

Sharon: Well, yeah, but--

victoria: Doesn't that tell you something?

Sharon: Look, i have talked with nicholas at length. Before he went on this trip, I pleaded with him to give a victor a chance to reach out to him and to put all the bad feelings behind them, and seeing them now, I think that's what happened.

Victoria: You don't think that it's odd that they didn't come back together from the plane, that nicholas, instead of greeting his family, rushed in to make some kind of critical phone call? Did you ask him what the phone call was about?

Sharon: Yes, I did.

Victoria: And he didn't tell you anything, did he? He stonewalled, because that's exactly what both of them are doing. Something is going on here. It has to do with nicholas and dad, and it's ugly.

Victor: Do you have any answers?

Nick: Do i have answers? About what?

Victor: How this could have happened.

Nick: Is there some reason you're asking me?

Victor: No, i just felt you might have a different perspective on all this, you know?

Nick: Why?

Victor: Because i've been mentoring you, I've been preparing you to take over this company. You know the ins and outs.

Nick: There's a lot i don't know.

Victor: There are some things i've kept from you.

Nick: Yeah.

Victor: Because i wanted to protect you.

Nick: To protect me?

Victor: I had my reasons, all right?

Nick: Because you were worried something like this might happen?

Victor: Why are you asking me that?

Nick: You said charges were being brought.

Victor: Mm-hmm.

Nick: What are they?

Victor: For now you know all you need to, son.

Nick: How long do you think you can keep this under wraps?

Victor: Depends on what they have.

Nick: So you think they might not stick?

Victor: Any time the district attorney's office comes around, wanting to look at your company and prosecutors want to ask u questions, there's reason for concern.

Nick: So you think there may be some substance to christine's charges?

Victor: I don't think there's any substance to her charges.

Nick: You still haven't answered me.

Victor: There are only two people who could have done this.

Nick: Two people?

Victor: Yeah, two people who knew certain things.

Nick: About this criminal activity?

Victor: About this

alleged criminal activity, son. Two people i trusted. Why the hell i did that, I don't know.

Nick: Who are they?

Victor: Michael baldwin and phyllis abbott.

Nick: Phyllis? How the hell did she get dragged into this?

Phyllis: Did I hear you correctly? Did you just tell me what i could and could not do?

Michael: Yes, i am telling you what you could and could not do. You have to be reasonable.

Phyllis: I am trying to save my marriage, michael. I don't think there's anything unreasonable about that.

Michael: At what expense? Look, you are right. We should be concerned about where this case is going, but there's a very good chance there won't be enough evidence for a prosecution. In which case, people who go around throwing themselves on their swords in anticipation that everything is gonna go to hell, they will have done so for nothing, nothing. So if you go and spill your guts to jack, you might as well ask chris to sit there and write your confession down. It'll save you from having doing it again in court.

Phyllis: I-- I didn't bribe anybody. I didn't do that. If victor hadn't told me, I--

michael: He did. He did. He told you!

Phyllis: Is he gonna admit to anybody that he told me?

Michael: Oh, who knows?! It might happen, but you know what? There's a much better chance that it won'T.

Phyllis: Okay, so you-- what are the odds? You give me numbers. Give me something sound that i can make a decision on.

Michael: Phyllis, you know what? In this crazy world, everything is 50/50 when it gets right down to it.

Phyllis: That's not enough.

Michael: Okay. Okay. There's a 2% chance that jack will find out that you knew and didn't tell him.

Phyllis: Are you making that up?

Michael: Yes, i am. But don't you feel good?

Phyllis: Okay, I'm telling jack.

Michael: No. No, you're not!

Phyllis: Yes, i am. Get out of my way, i'm serious. Get out of my way, michael.

"The young and the restless"

will continue.

Kay: (Sighs)

jill: Oh, by all means, just make yourself at home.

Kay: Thank you. I will.

Jill: Can i offer you a... I guess not.

Kay: Actually, some water would be--

jill: Charles!

Kay: No, please. I really, uh... I really don't want to be waited on by your rent-a-hunk.

Jill: Never mind!

Kay: Oh, god, jill. Look at you.

Jill: What's the matter with me?

Kay: Well, you're drinking, for one thing, and alone. It's not good.

Jill: I don't have a problem with alcohol.

Kay: Yes, you do.

Jill: Well, that is a matter of opinion. You know what? Millions and millions of people drink responsibly, and I happen to be one of them.

Kay: Really? Well, if... If that fabric is any indication... God, jill, only a hopeless drunk would have anything upholstered in this.

Jill: Thank you so much for your opinion, mother.

Kay: Well, it's, you know, it's just a simple comment.

Jill: Do you have any recollection at all of how your mother's comments grated on your nerves?

Kay: No.

Jill: Really? So you're telling me that you greeted each and every unsolicited suggestion of hers with grace and gratitude?

Kay: Well, I suppose not.

Jill: Well, then?

Kay: But you are going to ruin this house, jill. You're simply ruining it. Look at this.

Jill: My god, there's just no accounting for taste.

I am going to make a statement with this house. It's gonna be a case of the new conquering the old.

Kay: Oh, lord. Lord. Lord. Lord. Lord. Lord. Lord. Lord.

Jill: You know something. As long as you're here dispensing advice, I have a bone to pick with you.

Kay: Pick.

Jill: Bobby marsino and the way you treated him when he stopped by the other day.

Kay: Yes, he came by to see if you had survived your hangover or you needed the services of a funeral home.

Jill: Oh, for god's sake, I was fine. And I'll tell you something else. If i choose to drink, I do not give you my headache in the morning, do i? That makes it my business.

Kay: Fine. Fine. Jill, please, let's just-- just-- let's not fight.

Jill: Well, number one, you shouldn't have been here. And number two, you should have been gracious to anybody who came to see me if you were here.

Kay: I really was not rude.

Jill: He said you behaved like some old mother lion or something.

Kay: Maybe so, but I was simply trying to protect you. He just seemed like some... Lowlife type that... Likes to dress flashy and pretend to be somebody he's not.

Jill: You are such a snob! Where do you get off?!

Damon: Man, i know how deeply you've been hurt by newman. If he did something illegal to try and destroy this company, I'm sure he'll get whatever he's got coming to him.

Brad: Well, a big part of that will be based on jabot's success at the expense of newman's cosmetics division.

Damon: You realize it could be years before a lawsuit the size of the one you're talking about gets settled. Jabot could be history.

Brad: That's why there's so much riding on this miracle product of yours. When do you leave for japan?

Damon: Tomorrow. I fly into okinawa, map out a strategy from there. Find out where in the ryukyus i can nail down a steady supply of this neofinetia root.

Brad: Well, do it incognito. It is absolutely critical that no one gets even the slightest whiff of what you're up to.

Damon: Well, about that, drucilla knows.

Brad: What?! How much?

Damon: Everything. She is on our team.

Brad: But her fiancé isn'T. Damn. If she lets anything slip...

Damon: She won'T.

Brad: Can you guarantee that? You don't think there'll be a little pillow talk on the honeymoon?

Damon: Drucilla is as anxious to bury newman as anybody at this company. She knows what's at stake here. Besides, while i'm in japan, she'll be off in trinidad celebrating her marriage. She's not gonna be a problem.

Brad: I hope you're right. What about your friend vanessa?

Damon: Nobody needs to worry about vanessa.

Brad: Then I'm leaving it up to you, damon. Good-bye and good luck. Come back a winner.

Damon: I'll do my damnedest.

Dru: What?

Neil: I was just wondering.

Dru: About?

Neil: When are you gonna tell me exactly where we're going in japan?

Dru: Honey, you know that's a surprise.

Neil: Oh, come on, baby. We're going there tomorrow anyway.

Dru: Okay. The ryukyu islands.

Neil: The ryu-who what? What the hell is that? I thought we were going tokyo.

Dru: No, too busy, too many tourists. We're going someplace exclusive, breathtaking.

Neil: It took my breath away. How'd you learn about all this?

Dru: I'm an international traveler, you know that. Internet, books, that's where I came up with the idea.

Neil: So books and the internet, huh?

Dru: Mm-hmm.

Neil: Okay, drucilla, why don't you tell me about, you know, what's really going on here?

Dru: What, you think there's more to it than just going to japan?

Neil: I don't know. Is there?

Dru: Honey, the main event is our wedding. And there is going to be nothing more important than standing next to you on our wedding day in my fabulous wedding dress professing my love, honor, to promise to cherish you for all of my days. We're gonna be a family-- you, me and lily-- and nothing is more important than that, nothing. X

Kay: Well, I'm sorry it bothers you, jill, but I do have my opinions, and they are based on many long years of experience.

Jill: Bobby marsino, while the truth is i don't know him very well, seems like a very charming gentleman. Okay, maybe he did come up through the school of hard knocks, but then so did I, mother.

Kay: Jill, you are a single, unattached woman. Now larry was a very lovely fellow. And yes, there were times that i felt very envious of the moments the two of you shared, but... Well, larry is gone, and this marsino is such a bad--

jill: Look, i'm not looking for a relationship with him. He's not even a friend, really.

Kay: My god, I'm glad to hear that.

Jill: But if he where a friend, I'd expect you to--

kay: See, now there you go. That's what you're hoping for, and I'm telling you, jill, you can do better. Look at yourself. Look at yourself. I mean, you're beautiful. You're intelligent. You have wit, but certainly not when you're sucking up on a glass of scotch. No, you have good standing in the community, but you won't if you're face down on the ground.

Jill: Oh, come on. Come on. I don't drink all that much.

Kay: Well, maybe you wouldn't drink at all if you were around the right people.

Jill: Oh, ho, ho! Yeah, like the bar at the country club isn't packed every single night. Come on, why are you haranguing me this way?

Kay: Because you're my daughter. I want the best for you.

Phyllis: Michael, I'm serious, move out of my way. This thing is taking off like wildfire, and if I don't talk to jack--

michael: You're not listening to a word I've said. You've not listened to a word i've said. Look, you are jumping the gun. You're pulling the rip cord while you're still in the plane. You've got to be smart.

Phyllis: I need to save my marriage, michael.

Michael: You know what? Sweetheart, I want you to be happy, i really do, but I would feel so much better about your marriage from outside of jail.

Phyllis: Okay, I don't want you to go to jail. That's not why i want to tell jack. I don't want you to go there.

Michael: You think if you tell jack, you confess to him, he won't go straight to christine with it?

Phyllis: I'm gonna tell him not to do it, really.

Michael: Oh, please.

Phyllis: No, no. I'm gonna insist. Besides, this is hearsay. What is he gonna say, "my wife told me that victor bribed a couple people"?

Michael: Yes, hearsay, not good in court. But to someone investigating a crime, it's a lead that could lead to another lead and so on and so forth. Look, phyllis, if you put me and victor in the big house, how are you gonna feel about yourself? You and I won't be friends anymore. Victor's gonna use a lot of really bad, bad words. You want that? You don't really want that, do you? Do you?

Nikki: What is the matter with you? Why are you so determined to take a beautiful moment and turn it into something ugly?

Victoria: You saw something beautiful. I saw something that made me sick.

Sharon: What?! How could you say that?

Victoria: Because of the betrayal.

Nikki: Betrayal?

Victoria: Yes, I think that's what we're seeing here, something cruel and incredibly hurtful.

Sharon: Are you talking about nicholas?

Victoria: Yes, sharon, I'm talking about nicholas. My god, where is your mind?! Think about the last couple of months, all the dire warnings, "be prepared. Something bad is gonna happen. Something horrible is about to come down."

Sharon: I told you I pleaded with nick.

Victoria: Oh, and you think your precious influence is just gonna turn things around? You think that 24 hours with dad in toronto is just gonna make all of the bitterness and accusations disappear? I see what's happening here. You don'T. I think the two of you are just too afraid to look this thing in the eye and see what's really going on.

Victor: There's no need for you to get all up in arms about phyllis abbott, all right?

Nick: Dad, how could you involve phyllis, of all people, in something as volatile as this?

Victor: Look, she has been loyal to me. I mean, she has shown that on several occasions.

Nick: This puts her in an impossible position with her husband and family.

Victor: Son, stop protecting that damn family, all right? I'm sick and tired of that. It is our family that's under duress right now and will be for some time. The question is how the hell do i deal with these traitors?

Nick: I don't think they're your biggest problem right now.

Victor: You're probably right. Dealing with the district attorney's probe that's gonna be the ggest problem.

Victor: Will you do me a favor? Obviously my attention is gonna be elsewhere. Will you take over the company for awhile?

Nick: You want me to run the company now?

Victor: Yeah, i think you're best prepared for it, you know, you and victoria. She'll be your right hand.

Victor: I know you and i have had our issues. But I think after this trip to my father, I feel closer to you again and I think... I know i can trust you.

Nick: You may feel that way now. I just don't know if it's time.

Victor: I know that you will do a hell of a job running this company, son, okay?

Nick: Yes, I wod. But are you sure?

Victor: I'm absolutely certain. You'll have support. You'll have advice. I see no problem. You know, my boy, I always wanted to have you fighting on my side, you know, making this company larger than it is, fighting battles together.

Victor: I just feel that we-- we can do that now, all right? We'll ride out this storm together.

Victor: Come here.

; ú ú ú ú ú7@çççwwççç

dru: Hey, closing up shop?

Damon: Yeah, matter of fact, that's precisely what I'm doing.

Dru: You must be so excited about jetting off to japan, looking for that neopanita-- penata.

Damon: Neofinetia orchid.

Dru: Neofinetia, yes, yes. That's what I meant, that stuff.

Damon: Yes, dru, I'm excited. The stakes are high for jabot. I must say, as a man of science, I am hugely intrigued.

Dru: Trip of a lifetime.

Damon: And you got one of your own coming up, don't you?

Dru: Yes, i do.

Damon: You got to be thrilled about the wedding. Hey, if I don't speak to you again before you leave, my very best wishes to you and neil.

Dru: That's very thoughtful of you, damon, but before you start offering congratulations, there is something i need for you to know.

Neil: Vanessa lerner, right?

Vanessa: Oh, you.

Neil: Yeah, me. You mind if I sit down for a minute?

Vanessa: Actually, yes. I'd prefer it if you didn'T.

Neil: Oh, come on. You're not gonna hold a grudge forever, are you?

Vanessa: I might.

Neil: Just because you came to my office and i didn't volunteer the information that damon didn't work for newman?

Vanessa: No, just because you let me go on and on about something that was clearly not your business.

Neil: Yeah, i know. I'm sorry about that, and I've felt terrible about it ever since.

Vanessa: I'm sure.

Neil: I have. Besides, eventually i did tell you that damon worked at jabot.

Vanessa: After I rambled on like an idiot assuming damon and you were colleagues, yes. Now if you don't mind, I really am very busy.

Neil: Um, listen. I didn't come here to darken your day.

Vanessa: Then why are you here?

Neil: Grabbing a cup of pick-me-up before heading over to my office to finish some work. I saw you, i thought we might chat a little.

Vanessa: Well, you thought wrong.

Neil: By the way, I hear your boyfriend is taking a little vacation.

Jill: Mother, believe me, I know how you feel. I have had this same discussion countless times with billy about mackenzie.

Kay: Don't go there, jill.

Jill: I'm not about to trash your precious granddaughter.

Kay: She's your niece.

Jill: Please don't remind me of that. The thing is i'm saying i know what it feels like to want things for your children when they don't really know about life yet.

Kay: Thank you.

Jill: But i am not a child. Come on, we missed that part of our journey. We can't recapture it. You can't lie in wait to see if my dates are suitable young men. That's the way you treat an adolescent, not a middle-aged woman.

Kay: Yes, but you are vulnerable. You know, in many ways, you are as naive as a teenager._

Jill: Excuse me?

Kay: I apologize not for one instant for wanting to protect you.

Jill: You can't protect me. And I suppose that i should be appreciative, but it's too late.

Kay: No. No. No. No, don'T. It's okay. I mean, don't bother. I know i sound like trouble, but I'm not. It's just, like you said, we have missed a great part of our journey. I can't pretend that we have it to do over again. Yeah, well, rort is outside waiting for me in the car.

Jill: I'll have charl get your coat for you.

Kay: No. No. No. No. Please, I don't want charles manserving me. Thank you. I can get my own coat.

Jill: Mother, i'm sorry.

Kay: Really? Then do me a favor, please. Don'T... For god's sake, don't ruin this house, and don't make friends with the bottle. It will ruin you. I know. I really don't know when i'm gonna see you again, jill. So i... I'll show myself out.

vanessa: What did you just say?

Neil: Oh, now you mind if i sit down? I said your boyfriend is taking a little vacation.

Vanessa: Boyfriend? Damon porter is a business associate.

Neil: Oh, well, you never really said what he was.

Vanessa: And I think I would know if he was planning a trip out of town.

Neil: I'm only repeating what i've heard.

Vanessa: Or are you trying to play head games with me?

Neil: No, i swear. I'm really... I'm telling you the truth.

Vanessa: Wouldn't that be a pleasant surprise?

Neil: In fact, the way I hear it, he's leaving very soon.

Vanessa: And clearly you're dying to tell me where he's going, so--

neil: I wouldn't exactly say that, ms. Lerner. But since damon obviously didn't tell you himself, I believe he's headed for japan.

Damon: Something I need to know about you and neil?

Dru: Well, there's been a change of plans.

Damon: What? You all didn't call off the wedding or something, did you?

Dru: No, everything's on schedule. We leave tomorrow.

Damon: Okay. You still getting married out of town?

Dru: Yes. Yes, but it won't be trinidad. You see, i changed the location, and neil said fine.

Damon: Okay. So where you all tying the knot?

Dru: That's what I need to talk to you about. Japan.

Damon: Japan?

Dru: Yeah, the ryukyu islands. Yeah.

Nikki: You know what? I've heard enough of this. I'm not gonna listen to any more.

Victoria: Fine, I won't say another word. I wash my hands.

Sharon: Wait. Did you say "betrayal"?

Victoria: Yeah, sharon. It's not a difficult word to understand.

Sharon: But you think that nicholas betrayed victor somehow.

Nikki: Where do you come up with this?

Victoria: Everyone has been trying to protect you, mother. We don't want to put you in the middle of this. But you have to understand how nicholas feels about dad.

Nikki: Don't say it. I don't want to hear the word "hatred" come out of your mouth.

Victoria: Fine, I won't say it. I wish that I could believe that all of this was true. I wish that I could believe in this miraculous turnaround. I love my father. I love my brother. I wish to god that there was no reason that we might have to choose between one or the other. Maybe you're both right. Maybe I'm way off base. I don't know. Nothing would make me happier, but that's really all I have to say on the issue.

Nick: What's going on in here?

Victoria: I'm gonna ask you something, and you better not lie to me. What have you done to dad?

Phyllis: Michael, listen. I'm not trying to betray anyone. You've known me long enough to know that i would never take you down.

Michael: But you're nervous. Believe me, I am nervous, too, which is not the best state of mind for making important decisions. Now let's just wait, see how this whole thing shakes out.

Phyllis: No. No. It's going to be too late.

Michael: Don't do anything rash. You've got to think. (Doorbell rings)

michael: You won't believe this.

Phyllis: Who is it? Who is it? Oh, my god.

Victor: Well, look who's here. Two traitors in the same place. How convenient.

"the young and the restless"...

Michael: There is no scenario that you can come up with where phyllis and I betray you.

Victor: No one else had the information.

Michael: One other person does.

Victoria: Why would you want to believe that your son could hate his father, but that's the way it is.
