Victor: Albert Miller?
Victor: Are you Albert Miller?
Albert: Who wants to know?
Victor: I'm Victor Newman. This is my son Nicholas.
Albert: Is that supposed to mean something to me? What are you, the chaplain?
Victor: No.
Albert: Good. I have no use for religion or God.
Victor: Well, perhaps he has no use for you.
Albert: You here to convert me? To save my soul before the hour of my demise? If so, I'm entirely disinterested. You can leave now.
Victor: No, Mr. Miller, we are not gonna leave now.
Albert: Who are you? Why the hell are you staring at me that way?!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nikki: Well, I have to say, you are the last person I expected to find on my doorstep.
Jack: Well, we hadn't talked in awhile. I wanted to touch base.
Nikki: Look, if this is about work, I know I haven't been at the office very much, but I've kept up at home.
Jack: It isn't about work.
Nikki: Oh.
Jack: How are you?
Nikki: I'm well. I'm very well, actually.
Jack: Honestly?
Nikki: Honestly. I have a lot of positive things going on in my life right now, the family's life. Look, if you are here as a prophet of doom and gloom, I'm really not up for it.
Raul: You're not going back to the club?
Brittany: That's right.
Raul: Well, because it's not reopening yet, or what?
Brittany: No, it is, tonight. Bobby's going all out. I just won't be there.
Raul: Why?
Brittany: You're looking a gift horse in the mouth?
Raul: You're doing this for me?
Brittany: Of course. Who else?
Raul: Wait, I can't believe this. You're actually gonna quit that damn club?
Brittany: Yeah, at least for tonight. Maybe for good.
Raul: Did you tell Marsino this?
Brittany: Right to his face.
Raul: I... I don't know what to say. I'm totally blown away, babe.
Brittany: So I take it that means you're happy?
Raul: Are you kidding me? This is the best news I've ever heard in my life.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phyllis: Hey, Michael. Michael, come here. I've been looking all over for you.
Michael: No, no. No can do. Phyllis, not now.
Phyllis: This is serious.
Michael: Look, whatever it is, it'll have to wait. I've got a situation right now.
Phyllis: I have a situation, too. Jack knows.
Michael: Jack knows what?
Phyllis: About the bribes.
Michael: Tell me I didn't hear you right.
Phyllis: You heard me right.
Michael: This is... this is... this is not good. This is really not good. Did you tell him?
Phyllis: Are you nuts?
Michael: It all makes sense.
Phyllis: What does? What does?
Michael: I had a little surprise visit last night from a federal prosecutor. They are on to us, Phyllis.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Glenn: I know this is a bit of a shock.
Chris: You could say that.
Glenn: You have a personal relationship with Victor Newman, and Michael Baldwin is your former law partner.
Chris: There has to be a mistake. I can't prosecute these two men. "Conspiracy to commit commercial bribery." God, commercial bribery.
Glenn: This is the case as Frank Becker handed it to me. Now there's plenty of work to be done before you're gonna be ready to go into a courtroom.
Chris: I can't do that. There's a conflict of interest.
Glenn: Not really, not if you have effectively terminated your partnership with Baldwin, which I believe you have.
Chris: Yes, I have, but... Glenn, I feel like I'm being put to a test.
Glenn: I suppose that's true. Yes, this is a test. Are you ready for it?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raul: Do you have any idea how much this means to me, that you would do this for me, for us?
Brittany: Sure took me long enough, huh?
Raul: Baby, listen, as much as I hated you stripping, I know that this wasn't an easy decision, and-- but I promise you, you will not regret it, Brittany, okay? Someday, you're gonna realize that walking away from that place was the best thing you ever did.
Brittany: Look, can we please not dwell on this? Like you said, it's tough, and I still don't know if it's gonna be permanent.
Raul: Hey, I'll take one night. And then another night, and then another night, until you finally forget all about that place. I'll help make you forget.
Brittany: Yeah, well, right now I wanna know about you. How's your blood sugar?
Raul: I'm on top of it.
Brittany: Did you test yourself again this morning?
Raul: Yep. Right after you and J.T. Left today.
Brittany: And...?
Raul: And I'm right back in normal range.
Brittany: Already?
Raul: Yeah. I stuck myself twice just to make sure. Two consistent readings of under 120.
Brittany: Yeah, but this morning, you were at 280.
Raul: Baby, don't worry about it. Everything's under control, I promise you.
Brittany: Did you eat something?
Raul: Yes, mom.
Brittany: Listen, you passed out--
Raul: I know, I know, I know. After last night, you have every reason to check up on me, but it's not gonna happen again. I promise you. I'm gonna start keeping a closer eye on things, okay?
Brittany: And you're gonna start taking better care of yourself, right?
Raul: Baby, I have such a good feeling how things are gonna be now that Marsino's is behind us.
Brittany: You really are thrilled I'm quitting, aren't you?
Raul: You have made the best possible decision you could have made for yourself.
Brittany: Myself?
Raul: Well, for us. We can finally get back to what we had. My God, baby, I have missed you so much.
Brittany: I've missed you, too, Raul.
Raul: Come here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris: I don't understand. Why is there a test?
Glenn: Because you are the brand-new assistant district attorney. You were in defense law for how long?
Chris: Since I went into practice ten years ago.
Glenn: Well, that is enough time to develop some bad habits.
Chris: And so the idea is if I can prosecute people I know, then I'm tough enough for the job?
Glenn: Tough enough, committed enough and impartial enough. If you can gather and present evidence that puts Victor Newman and Michael Baldwin in jail, providing they deserve to go to jail, then, Christine, I doubt anyone will ever question your credentials again.
Chris: Are my credentials being questioned now?
Glenn: You are the new kid, of course they are. Look, once you've done this work for a few years, I promise you, you will look at the new kids exactly the same way.
Chris: This is asking a lot.
Glenn: That's the idea.
Chris: Michael-- do you honestly believe that he helped Victor bribe people?
Glenn: Look over the evidence we have so far, and then you tell me.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Knock on door)
Raul: What do you want?
Bobby: Well, I'm here to see you, of course-- my favorite guy.
Raul: Yeah, right. You're here to try and talk Brittany into coming back to work, right? Uh, okay, here's the part of the bit where I tell you can't come in, but you come in anyway, right?
Bobby: Hey, you're catching on.
Raul: Yeah. Well, sorry to make you waste a trip, man, but Brittany’s not even home.
Bobby: Is that right?
Raul: Yeah. She left a little while ago. She came home, told me she wasn't gonna dance tonight or any other night, and then she took off.
Bobby: You're sure?
Raul: Hey, I watched her go, dude. You don't believe me? By all means, go take a look around.
Bobby: And you're not gonna tell me where she went either, right?
Raul: She doesn't wanna take her clothes off for fun or profit anymore, okay, big guy? Just deal with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nikki: Okay, I'm very curious. What are you doing here?
Jack: I heard Victor was taking a trip that Nicholas was going with him.
Nikki: Yeah. I think it's wonderful.
Jack: Wow is that wonderful?
Nikki: Well, maybe it's hard for you to understand, because you have a good relationship with your father.
Jack: What does that have to do with anything?
Nikki: Well, Victor doesn’t. Victor hates his father. In fact, he's believed his father's been dead all these years. I mean, he just recently found out that he's not. That's where they are right now.
Jack: They went to see Victor's father together?
Nikki: Well, I sort of made that happen. Victor wouldn't go without Nicholas, and I just pulled rank and told him he had to go.
Jack: Wow. This could get interesting.
Nikki: I just hope that something positive comes out of this. In fact, I think it already has. I mean, they're together-- father and son, spending time alone. I just so hope that they can bridge the gap between them.
Jack: Nikki, I hate to bring you down, but given what's happened between Victor and Nicholas lately, I think you're hoping for miracles.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victor: Am I making you uncomfortable, Mr. Miller?
Albert: You're making me irritated.
Victor: Is that right?
Albert: Oh, and you're a rude man.
Victor: I'm a rude man?
Albert: I don't know what you're doing here. If you're from some do-gooder visitation group or whatever, I value my solitude.
Victor: Do you now?
Albert: I've asked for no visitors. How did you get in here?
Victor: Let's just say I'm an influential man.
Albert: Oh, you paid someone.
Victor: No, I didn't have to pay anyone, Mr. Miller. There are enough bleeding hearts around here who don't want to see an old man dying alone, not even you.
Albert: Everyone dies alone.
Victor: Some more alone than others.
Albert: What did you say your name was? Speak up! (Coughs)
Victor: You may be used to giving orders, Mr. Miller, but I'm not used to taking them.
Albert: I want to know who you are.
Victor: I doubt that seriously.
Albert: I'm gonna tell you once more, leave now.
Victor: No.
Albert: Then by God, I will.
Victor: No, Mr. Miller, you won’t. I've come a long way to see you. This has been a very difficult journey for me. But those who asked me to come were right.
Albert: Who?
Victor: Those who implored me to come here.
Albert: Implored you?
Victor: You might say, I'm here under duress. Isn't that right, son?
Nick: Yeah, you could say that.
Albert: This is becoming... tedious.
Victor: So you're here all alone? No visitors, no friends, no family?
Albert: No.
Nick: You must have someone.
Albert: No.
Victor: Did you ever have family, Mr. Miller? You must have. Everyone does. Unless, of course, you grew up in an orphanage. And I doubt that seriously.
Victor: Does that make you uncomfortable, what I just asked you?
Albert: You are making me uncomfortable, and I've had quite enough of this.
Victor: Christian Miller. Does that mean anything to you?
Albert: No.
Victor: It means nothing to you, it has no significance?
Albert: I suppose you're going to tell me why it should mean something.
Victor: No, I think you already gave me the answer. It means nothing to you, nor has it ever meant anything to you.
Victor: Come on, son. I think I've learned all I need to.
Albert: I know why you're here. I know why you've come.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brittany: Thought you had class.
J.T.: Yeah, I'm in between. I've got to go to my next one in 20 minutes.
Brittany: Well, since that's about as long as I can stomach you...
J.T.: Hey, that is some apology there, princess. Real slick.
Brittany: What am I supposed to apologize to you for?
J.T.: For getting on my case about Marsino's. You acted like it was my fault the place got busted.
Brittany: Sorry.
J.T.: Wait a minute, what was that? I can't always hear when I'm so right. Come on.
Brittany: Stuff it, J.T.
J.T.: Oh, you're gracious, as always. So what are you doing here anyway?
Brittany: Well, where else am I supposed to go? I don't have school.
J.T.: I figured you'd be sleeping in. You were up all night.
Brittany: Not all night.
J.T.: Come on, admit it. You were as freaked out as I was. Although, I have to admit, I was really impressed by the way you handled things.
Brittany: When Raul crashed, you mean?
J.T.: Yeah. Yeah, you just grabbed that syringe and jammed it in his arm.
Brittany: Hypoglycemic shock. Raul needed glucose.
J.T.: Well, you kept your cool. You knew what you were doing. I sure as hell didn’t.
Brittany: Well, when you're with somebody who has diabetes, you better know what's what in case of an emergency.
J.T.: Yeah, well, Brittany, you handled it like a pro.
Brittany: It was actually the first time I ever had to deal with Raul passing out from an insulin reaction.
J.T.: That's what happens when he forgets to eat, right?
Brittany: Yeah, but it was more than that.
J.T.: Stress.
Brittany: Right. And he's been under a lot of that, thanks to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobby: I suppose you know why Brittany changed her mind, why she doesn't want to dance.
Raul: Do you know what a euphemism is, hmm?
Bobby: Yeah, sure.
Raul: Yeah? It's a nice way of saying something that's not so nice. "Dancing" is your little euphemism for "stripping." Hell, "stripping" is a euphemism for "getting naked."
Bobby: Yeah, yeah, all right. Everything's a euphemism for something. What's your point?
Raul: We're from different worlds, Marsino.
Bobby: You saying you're better than me?
Raul: Well, you think you're more real than I am.
Bobby: I'll ask again. What's your point?
Raul: Brittany doesn't belong in your world.
Bobby: I don't know. She seemed to fit in pretty well to me.
Raul: No, no, no, no. She got all caught up in the idea of being singer, and you took advantage of that. Right place, right time, it happened. But guess what, man, it's over, okay? We've had this little bump in our road, something to tell our grandkids about--maybe. Either way, it's done.
Bobby: You're a real piece of work, you know that?
Raul: Thanks.
Bobby: You know what? We really are different.
Raul: Tell me.
Bobby: Well, you see, I love women. I love everything about 'em. I love the way they look, the way they talk, the way they walk, the way they think. I find each and every one of 'em beautiful. But I really love when they're free, when they can do whatever it is they wanna do.
Raul: Same with me, man.
Bobby: No, no, no, no, no. You're different. You're like one of those hunters with their stuffed animal heads on the wall in the den. You gotta suck the life outta everything just to make it yours.
Raul: You know, I have to admit something-- Marsino, you're a more thoughtful person than I ever gave you credit for being. See, the only problem with you is that your thoughts are all screwed up.
Bobby: Hmm?
Raul: Brittany loves me, and I love her, all right? Now she had her little walk on the wild side, but that's over now. We're getting our lives back together. And, yeah, she doesn't own me, and I don't own her--
Bobby: Oh, you know what? I've heard enough of this. Let me clue you in on something. Okay, that girl loves dancing, stripping-- whatever you want to call it. There's no way she does it the way she does it and not love it. And she got a damn fine voice, too. And when she gets on that stage, she owns the whole place. You're either born with that, or you're not. And she's given up all of that, and why? Because you can't handle your own diabetes.
Raul: What?
Bobby: Yeah. Her little baby boy is too stressed-out to stay healthy. What do you think of that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phyllis: Michael, you're making me nervous.
Michael: No, I knew this was getting out of hand once Victor spilled his guts to you.
Phyllis: Okay, all right. Enough of that already.
Michael: You know, you'd be so much better off if you didn't know. We'd all be better off.
Phyllis: You think I don't know that?! I'm not arguing that point with you. I can't believe that I went to Victor and demanded that he tell me everything. What was I thinking?
Michael: What was he thinking going along with that?
Phyllis: Okay. The men in black came to see you.
Michael: Yes, I was so sure they didn't have anything that would stick.
Phyllis: Do they?
Michael: Well, the feds are no fools. They usually don't make a point of seeing you unless they're pretty damn sure of themselves.
Phyllis: Okay, so what do they want? What are they after?
Michael: Well, that's an easy one-- Victor. They want Victor.
Phyllis: So we should find him and we should warn him.
Michael: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We should do some damage control. I tried to get in touch with him but I can’t. Apparently, he's out. He's away.
Phyllis: So is Victor the only one they're after?
Michael: Well, they've got my name, too. But I'm not the one they're after. They're after the big man. They offered to go easy on me if I helped them out.
Phyllis: What'd you say?
Michael: Oh, I stonewalled as best I could. I may be a hired gun, but I'm loyal.
Phyllis: So who do you think ratted him out?
Michael: Oh, come on, Phyllis. Who do you think? Who's had a nasty chip on his shoulder from the day Safra showed so well against tuvia?
Phyllis: You really think Nicholas would do this to his own father?
Michael: Well, who would the other candidates be? I didn’t. You didn’t.
Phyllis: Right. Well, they're away someplace together on some father/son trip right now.
Michael: Oh, must be a laugh a minute.
Phyllis: Right. Right. Oh, my God. Maybe that's it. Oh, my God, I think that explains it all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris: There is not a lot of concrete evidence here.
Glenn: I disagree. The correlation between the anomalous spikes in sales and the department store chains whose corporate offices are either in Wisconsin or nearby, it's too close to ignore.
Chris: Nobody's opened it up yet.
Glenn: Someone will, if not Peter Hudson, then one of the others. There is smoke here, Christine. The fire can't be far away.
Christine: Nicholas Newman brought this to the feds. That is incredible.
Glenn: And we are gonna keep his name out of it for as long as possible.
Chris: Isn't there anyone else in the office that can handle this?
Glenn: Even if I had an experienced prosecutor sitting around making paper airplanes, I would still want you on this case.
Chris: All right, let me ask you something. Is there a political component here, adding the conspiracy charge just because it's Victor Newman?
Glenn: You mean, to make it a bigger case?
Chris: And to increase the penalties.
Glenn: If they bribe people, then they conspired, didn't they? You do the crime, you do the time. Now that is the attitude on our side of the courtroom. Now can I go into my insanely busy day knowing that you are on this case?
Chris: If this is what it's gonna take to prove to you that I'm serious about becoming a prosecutor, yes. I will go after Victor Newman and Michael Baldwin and anyone else who was party to this crime.
Glenn: Good. And thank you, Christine. I'm gonna assign you a couple of investigators. Now I want you to listen to me. You call me if you need any help, any advice at all.
Chris: I will.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nikki: Jack, what did I tell you? I don't want to hear doom and gloom.
Jack: I know. I know, I just-- I want you to be realistic.
Nikki: Can't I wish for a happy ending?
Jack: Oh, Nik. Nik. Nik. Nik.
Nikki: Look, I know you're still upset about Tuvia--
Jack: It's more than that. I am concerned about you.
Nikki: You don't need to be. I told you I'm feeling very positive right now. Is this about victor? You still want to believe that he did something horrible?
Jack: It's not what I want to believe.
Nikki: But it's what you think.
Jack: All the evidence points that way.
Nikki: Jack, there is no evidence.
Jack: What if there were? Nik, what if there were? How would you handle that? Could you deal with that?
Nikki: You know, this whole thing is based on your attitude. It's based on your hatred of Victor. There is no evidence!
Jack: That's where you're wrong. There is evidence, Nikki. And it's going to come to light very soon. I don't want you to be blindsided.
Nikki: Okay. You said what you came to say. You've warned me. So you can go now. Thanks.
Jack: Nik, I didn't just come here to mess with your head.
Nikki: I am not going to have you stand in my home and malign my husband. Please leave.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
J.T.: Thanks for the refill.
Brittany: Any time.
J.T.: Hey, what you said before about Raul being stressed out-- he and I talked about that.
Brittany: When?
J.T.: This morning after you left.
Brittany: Did he blame me?
J.T.: Well, he was filling me in about how it messes with your blood sugar level if you're a diabetic.
Brittany: Way to avoid my question.
J.T.: It's a stupid question, Brittany.
Brittany: Excuse me.
J.T.: Look, you can't go beating yourself up because Raul doesn't agree with the choices you've made. You guys aren't together anymore. You broke up, okay? You're not responsible for him. Yeah, you care. You probably always will. But Raul’s an adult, and it's his job to look after himself.
Brittany: Well, it's one thing to hear that.
J.T.: Well, start believing it. You can't control your ex, and he can't control you, Brittany.
Brittany: It's amazing. You actually sound like a grownup.
J.T.: Does that mean you understand what I'm trying to say?
Brittany: You're right. I can't control him. But I can't pretend that we're not still in a relationship. I can't ignore the kind of impact my decisions have on him.
J.T.: Right, which is a fancy way of saying what?
Brittany: Sometimes you have to make sacrifices.
J.T.: What kind of sacrifices?
Brittany: When you love somebody, when the things that you do are stressing him out to where he's keeling over and getting physically ill...
J.T.: What'd you do, Brittany? Did you quit Marsino's?
Brittany: Sort of.
J.T.: When, this morning? Raul said you went over there.
Brittany: I told Bobby that I wouldn't be performing when the club reopens tonight.
J.T.: What about tomorrow night?
Brittany: Maybe not then either, maybe not ever.
J.T.: You did all this for Raul?
Brittany: He thinks I did it for myself, for our relationship, which is fine. I don't want him knowing the real reason.
J.T.: Brittany, are you sure you're okay with this?
Brittany: I have to be. I can't let Raul get sick over some job.
J.T.: (Scoffs) it's amazing what you do for this guy, absolutely amazing.
Brittany: Well, wouldn't you do the same for Colleen?
J.T.: Yeah, I would.
Brittany: Well, then? Well, it must be more than 20 minutes. Don't you have to get going?
J.T.: Oh, yeah, damn it. Yeah, I forgot. All right. See you later.
Raul: Listen, taking care of each other is what people do when they're in love, you got that?
Bobby: Yeah, but with you it's a one-way street. She gives up something she loves and for what, so that you don't fall apart?
Raul: Whoa, who said I'm gonna fall apart?
Bobby: She thinks you will if she doesn't quit dancing. Look, don't give me that innocent look. It's exactly what you want her to think.
Raul: What are you talking about?
Bobby: You've tried everything you could possibly think of to get her to quit. You've ragged on her. You broke up with her. That didn't work. You had my place shut down, and that didn't work. Now you're pulling the old, "if you don't quit, it's gonna kill me" routine.
Raul: Where the hell do you get this?
Bobby: From Brittany. She's giving up something that she really cares about. What the hell do they teach you in that college of yours, how to play games? How to manipulate people into getting what you want? You know what? I've had enough of this. I can't even look at you.
Bobby: Hey, kid, I'll tell you something. In the school that I went to, we learned how to carry our own baggage, not to pass it off on someone else for them to carry for you.
(Cell phone rings) (ring) (ring)
Brittany: Raul?
Raul: Come home, please.
Brittany: Are you okay?
Raul: I need to talk to you.
Brittany: Raul, answer me. Are you having trouble again? 'Cause if it's your blood sugar--
Raul: It has nothing to do with my damn diabetes.
Brittany: Honey, are you sure? You're not acting like yourself.
Raul: Why do you always have to argue with me, Brittany?!
Brittany: Oh, I'm not. I'm not, okay? Don't stress. I'll be right there. I'm on my way.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michael: Phyllis, what do you mean?
Phyllis: Okay. Okay. Did I tell you that Nicholas came to see Jack?
Michael: (Chuckles) no, you didn't tell me Nicholas came to see Jack.
Phyllis: Yeah. He did it right before he left on his trip with Victor. And since that time, Jack has been in a totally different mood. It's like he's rubbing his hands together in anticipation for something to come, and all the while he's baiting me for information.
Michael: So you think Jack knows about this from Nicholas?
Phyllis: Yeah. I cannot believe that Nicholas would turn his father in to the Gestapo, and at the same time, he'd tell his archenemy about it.
Michael: You don't know that's what happened.
Phyllis: Are you kidding me? All the pieces fit, all of them. That's how Jack knows. And that's why he thinks I know.
Michael: Speculation.
Phyllis: Nicholas found out and he blabbed all the information--
Michael: Speculation, Phyllis.
Phyllis: Are you telling me you can't see what I see here?
Michael: You admitted nothing to Jack?
Phyllis: I admitted nothing. It killed me. God, I feel so guilty about it I can't believe it.
Michael: You have no reason to feel guilty. You weren't involved.
Phyllis: Oh, Michael. Michael, are you kidding me? I know what's happening. And I didn't reveal this information to my husband. If Jack finds out, my marriage is over.
Michael: Well, at least you won't go to jail.
Phyllis: That's right. I'm not going down for this. I mean, do you think that there's a chance that you could go down?
Michael: These are the big guys, Phyllis. They play for keeps. Hmm? If Nicholas did this thing, he set in motion something that can't be stopped. They're gonna try and bring us down. They have Victor in the crosshairs. They're not gonna hesitate to pull the trigger.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nikki: You say that you're worried about me, that you want to help me. You're not helping!
Jack: Nikki, you're wearing blinders.
Nikki: Will you please stop saying things like that?!
Jack: I can't stop.
Nikki: Why not? I'll tell you why-- because you hate Victor. It all goes back to that. You blame him for everything that happened to Ashley, and I completely understand that. If I were her brother, I would want to have somebody to blame, too.
Jack: That is not what this is about.
Nikki: All right, well, then what? If you have something, tell me. Otherwise, please go on about your day.
Jack: Answer something for me. How much money do you have invested in Jabot, I mean, since you first bought in?
Nikki: You already know the answer to that $35 million.
Jack: Your nest egg. The one thing, the money that keeps you independent from Victor.
Nikki: Where did you get that?
Jack: It doesn't matter. It's true, isn't it?
Nikki: It doesn't matter, because I have no need to be independent from Victor. Our marriage is very solid. We are very happy. We're getting along better than we ever have.
Jack: Well, I hope you take great comfort in that, 'cause that's all about to change.
Nikki: Will you stop?! I'm not gonna listen to this!
Jack: Nikki, the truth is about to explode all over the place. And it's gonna be ugly, and you're gonna be caught right in the middle.
Nikki: What are you talking about?
Jack: Okay, now I have your attention.
Nikki: No, not really. I'm not really listening. You say you're worried about me. Jack, I am worried about you. All these suspicions and delusions--they're really starting to take over.
Jack: No, they're not. Nikki, they're not. I can see I'm scaring you. That's not what I mean to do.
Nikki: Well, then don’t.
Jack: When does Victor get back?
Nikki: Why you want to know, so you can be on the spot to harass him?
Jack: I'm trying to help you.
Nikki: Oh. Well, thanks, Jack. With friends like you--
Jack: I am a friend, Nikki. One day you will look back on this conversation and know that. I want you to remember something else. Honey, I'm a phone call away.
Nikki: What is this about? What is it you think you know?
Jack: I know-- I know you're in for the shock of your life. I wish I could cushion that. There's no way I can.
Nikki: Oh, the broken record again. So that's all you're gonna say?
Jack: You don't want to hear what I have to say. Besides, I don't know all the facts. Somebody else is gonna have to tell you.
Jack: (Whispers) I'm a phone call away.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brittany: Raul, I got here as quick as I could.
Raul: Thanks.
Brittany: So why did you want to talk to me? Are you sure you're all right?
Chris: Phyllis?
Phyllis: Christine, you startled me.
Chris: You seemed startled before I said anything.
Phyllis: What do you want?
Chris: I'm looking for Michael. Rumor has it he was here.
Phyllis: He was. He no longer is, as you can see.
Chris: Any idea where he went?
Phyllis: No, I don't know. And even if I did, I don't think he'd appreciate my telling you.
Chris: Why not?
Phyllis: Well, the two of you sort of parted company, Christine.
Chris: I hate to break it to you, but we remain friendly.
Phyllis: All right, fine. Fine. You know, I'm busy.
Chris: Yeah?
Phyllis: Yeah.
Chris: You know, I'm an assistant district attorney now.
Phyllis: Does that mean I'm supposed to be afraid of you?
Chris: That would depend.
Phyllis: On what?
Chris: Whether you've been involved in a crime, Phyllis.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victor: You know why I'm here?
Albert: Are you a friend of Christian Miller?
Victor: No.
Albert: An enemy?
Victor: No.
Albert: But you had some connection with him.
Victor: Would you like to know something about Christian Miller?
Albert: Why would I want that?
Victor: Because he's your son.
