Sharon: I promised myself that I wouldn't do this.
Nick: I know it must hurt-- cassie's rejection.
Sharon: She's afraid that if she lets me back in her life again I'll just disappoint her.
Nick: Can you promise that you won't? Can you guarantee that a month from now or a year when things get tough for you again that you won't just take off like you did last time?
Nick: Because if you can't make that promise, I'm not letting you anywhere near those kids. I'm not gonna let them go through that kind of pain and grief ever again.
Jill: After everything I just told you, you would say something like that to me?
John: Now, jilli I realize that this is a shock.
Jill: A shock? This is an understatement. You come here to my office, and you drive charlotte away, and then you tell me she's not my birth mother.
John: She isn'T.
Jill: Did you tell her the same thing? Is that why she left without talking to me?
John: Jill, she has much as admitted to me that I was right.
Jill: She would never do that. I'm gonna call that cab company and find out where she's gone.
John: Just stop. Jill.
Jill: That poor woman.
John: Jill, stop it! Now I am trying to spare you pain, a lot of pain. Now please trust me and listen to what I have to say.
Jill: Oh, I'm gonna listen to you, but then you leave me alone, because I have to find her and apologize for your atrocious behavior.
John: When I'm finished, I promise you, you will feel very differently about charlotte ramsey.
Kay: I really wish you hadn't come here.
Charlotte: I didn't want to.
Kay: Well, then why?
Charlotte: I just spoke with john abbott.
Kay: Why is that man meddling in my life?
Charlotte: He believes he's protecting jill.
Kay: What? Are you saying you know jill?
Charlotte: Yes, very well, in fact.
Kay: Oh, my god. What is going on?
Charlotte: Jill thinks I'm her birth mother.
Kay: She thinks you... really? (Laughing)
Kay: Oh, it couldn't happen to a nicer person. (Laughing)
Kay: Oh, god.
Brittany: That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
Raul: I'm not making this up.
Brittany: Colleen saw my mom kissing J.T.?
Raul: That's what she said.
Brittany: Well, obviously she was joking.
Raul: Well, according to colleen, she saw them together at the lodge.
Brittany: A few weeks ago, when my mom saw jill with my dad?
Raul: This was yesterday.
Brittany: Yesterday?
Raul: Yeah. Colleen was pretty upset.
Brittany: Well, maybe if she would stop jumping to ridiculous conclusions...
Raul: Hey, she swears she didn't do that.
Brittany: And that's enough for you? Come on, raul. This is a girl who's in love with J.T. Hellstrom. How smart could she be?
Raul: Easy. Come on.
Brittany: I'm sorry, but this conversation is so stupid.
Raul: Hey. Have you noticed anything strange about J.T. Or your mom?
Brittany: Like what?
Raul: Like have they been acting weird?
Brittany: J.T. Always acts weird. I don't know what you want me to say. I told y j J.T. And my mom spent time together while I was gone.
Raul: Yeah, but now you're back.
Brittany: So maybe what colleen saw was... like a good-bye thing. That makes sense, right?
J.T.: Colleen, you're crying. What's wrong? Is it your dad? Is he giving you a hard time about us seeing each other again?
Colleen: No.
J.T.: Sure?
Colleen: This has nothing to do with my family.
J.T.: Well, did something happen at school? Look, I know those kids can be jerks sometimes. If someone's hassling you, I want to know about it. Anybody gives my girl trouble, they're gonna have to answer to me. We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. That's cool. Open your gift. You know, maybe that'll make you feel better.
Colleen: A locket?
J.T.: Yeah, I didn't have time to put a picture of us in there yet.
Colleen: It's beautiful.
J.T.: Kind of matches that bracelet I got you.
Colleen: Why are you doing this?
J.T.: You have to ask? It's because I love you, colleen.
[ ] to believe that charlotte is an imposter? You're a cruel man.
John: Jill, she isn't your birth mother. She couldn't be-- yours or anyone else'S.
Jill: Stop it. This is not funny anymore.
John: Oh, believe me, I know that.
Jill: You know what? I have to leave.
John: Now, jill, stop it. Now you said you would listen to me. There was only one ramsey family in this town before you were born.
Jill: How do you know that?
John: Because I checked the county records thoroughly. Now if there was a second ramsey family in genoa city, they had to be living in a hole in the ground.
Jill: (Whispering) oh, my god.
John: But the ramseys on record were the ones I knew. They had two daughters-- charlotte and eileen. I dated eileen in high school. But charlotte had graduated before I even got to junior high, so I never met her.
Jill: I don't have time for this.
John: Jill, katherine chancellor knew her.
Jill: Oh, god. I knew that eventually this would all lead back to katherine.
John: Now just--just hold on. After graduation, charlotte went off to new york with stars in her eyes. Now she came back here a year or so later pregnant and alone. She did not want to keep the baby. So katherine helped her get an illegal abortion.
Jill: And katherine told you alththis?
John: Yes, and it went very badly. She almost died, and it left her unable to have a child. Now all of this took place before you were born.
Jill: God, what an ugly story. But then why should that surprise me, since it came from katherine? Anyway, it's all nonsense, john, because charlotte's name is on my birth certificate. And it is an official document filled out on the day I was born. John: Listen, don't you think I racked my brain about that? Listen, I even considered maybe some charlotte ramsey from somewhere else came wandering through genoa city and had her baby here.
Jill: Oh, my god. It just keeps getting worse, doesn't it? Not only is charlotte not my birth mother, now my birth mother is some transient piece of trash. That's what you're asking me to believe?
John: I don't know.
Jill: No, you don't know, and yet you're willing to take something that is so beautiful to me and ruin it. Why, john? You tell me why.
Kay: Oh, my god, jill thinks you are her birth mother. That is crazy. The woman has such--
Charlotte: It's not that crazy, katherine. When she had a search agency go looking for her real parents, they came up with... me.
Kay: You?
Charlotte: Yes.
Kay: And I suppose you took advantage of that little mistake?
Charlotte: It wasn't really a mistake.
Kay: Well, yes, of course it was, charlotte.
Charlotte: When they found jill's actual birth certificate, my name was on it.
Kay: Oh, my god. How did you pull that off? (Laughing) oh, you're incredible. No, I... no. It's no concern of mine. They're jill's problems. My god. I mean, if you're fleecing her, my dear, you just go right on. You do that. You rob her blind. You leave her broke in a ditch. Doesn't bother me at all. God, you talk about curiosity killing the cat.
C charlotte: You two really hate each other.
Kay: Yes, we do. Now you listen to me, and you listen to me well, charlotte. I bear you no ill will after all these years, but I must insist we go back to our original agreement.
Charlotte: You mean that i leave and never come back.
Kay: Yes.
Charlotte: Katherine, we need to talk.
Kay: No, we do not. There will be no talking.
Charlotte: Yes, there will be. Everything's changed. Please believe me. You need to hear this. a hard line about this.
Sharon: You're trying to protect the kids. I understand.
Nick: I do hope cassie gets over this. I want her to have a relationship with you again.
Sharon: You do?
Nick: Yeah. She needs to come to terms with what happened.
Sharon: Well, all of her resentment toward me, I don't blame her.
Nick: She's just really hurt. The anger's a cover, but it is going to be tough to get her to trust you again.
Sharon: I know. I wa t to thank you, nick.
Nick: For what?
Sharon: For being there for cassie when I couldn't be. She's lucky, you know, having a great father like you, boboth the kids are.
Nick: That's what being a parent is all about.
>H haron: Before I go, there's something I want you to know.
Nick: What's that?
Sharon: What I did to you and the kids and the whole family, I would give anything if I could take it all back.
Nick: It'd be nice if that was possible, but it's just not.
Sharon: I know.
Sharon: I have toccept that cassie just won't see me. But I was wondering if maybe...
Nick: You'd like to see noah.
Sharon: Does he know that I'm back?
Nick: I haven't told him yet, but I will soon.
Sharon: Does that mean you'll let me see him?
Nick: If he wants to.
Sharon: Do you think he will?
Nick: Yeah, he's gonna want to see you. He's too young to be filled with resentment.
Sharon: That's good. Thank you. I miss my little boy.
Nick: He misses you, too.
Sharon: As for cassie, I'm not giving up. There's so many things that I want to say to her. Maybe someday she'll give me the chance.
Nick: Maybe.
Brittany: I'm sure that's all it was. My mom and J.T. Decided to end their bizarre little friendship they formed while I was gone. And my mom wanted to thank J.T. For his support with an innocent kiss. Nothing more to it.
Brittany: Why are you looking at me that way?
Raul: I just wish I could say you were right.
Brittany: But...
Raul: Brittany, when I was talking to colleen at the coffeehouse, it was ob-- look, I-- she was really, really torn up. I have never seen her like this before.
Brittany: So you believe her.
Raul: Yeah, I do.
Raul: And I think you do, too.
Brittany: It never made any sense. I mean, why did she have to ask J.T. That day to go to the lodge? I mean, if she really wanted to find out if he'd heard from me, why didn't she just ask him on the phone? Why did she have to see him in person? Now I know why.
Raul: I'm sorry. Baby, I hated having to tell you this.
Brittany: No, I'm glad you did. I always knew J.T. Was slime, but he really topped himself with this one. And my mother-- I mean, how pathetic is she? Making out with a 19-year-old in public.
Raul: Brittany, I--
Brittany: No, I bet this has been going on for years-- all my dad's business trips, and my mom's afternoons at the country club.
Raul: All right, brittany, stop. You don't have to do this.
Brittany: Do what?
Raul: Put on this act, not with me.
Brittany: Hey, raul, you know what? Don't worry about me. I'm fine. If my parents want to make a fool out of themselves, let them. That's their problem, not mine.
Raul: Let me help you.
Brittany: Look, I don't need your help.
Raul: You can't ignore this. You have to deal with this.
Brittany: Oh, what are you, my therapist?
Raul: No, but I-- I think it's best...
Brittany: Don't tell me what's best for me! I'm gonna handle this my own way. And if you can't accept that, then leave me alone.
Colleen: You love me?
J.T.: I just said it, didn't I?
Colleen: You never have before.
J.T.: Well, I figured you already knew how I feel. But I thought I should, you know, say it. Officially, I mean.
Colleen: Why now?
J.T.: Felt like the right time.
Colleen: Is that the only reason?
J.T.: Well, yeah. So summer's coming up. It's gonna be great being able to spend so much time together. I was thinking maybe we could get started on those driving lessons I promised you. I'm a pretty good teacher, but I'm not sure how I feel about you getting behind the wheel of my car. I was also hoping maybe I could spend some time with your family, maybe get to know them a little better. Hos s that sound to you?
Colleen: You don't have to do that.
J.T.: Well, I want to. I know how much it means to you.
Colleen: Why are you doing this?
J.T.: Doing what?
Colleen: Being so... perfect?
J.T.: What, I'm usually a jerk?
Colleen: I just wonder where it's coming from.
J.T.: I guess it finally hit me how lucky I am to be with you. Not that I didn't feel that way before, but it's like-- what I'm trying to say is... this is coming out wrong.
Colleen: Go on.
J.T.: It's--it's like there's two versions of me. There's the guy that I am when I'm with you, and there's the guy that I am when I'm not with you. And the thing is, the second guy-- I don't like him so much. Because being with you, it makes me feel different, better... about everything, you know? You make me happy, colleen.
Colleen: No, J.T., Don'T.
J.T.: What is it?
Colleen: I saw you.
J.T.: Saw me?
Colleen: I was at the lodge, and I saw you kissing brittany's mom.
Claire: We've got teeratures today tee:0001b2
Nick: Cass, you gonna say hello to your mother?
Cassie: Hi.
Sharon: How are you, sweetie?
Cassie: Okay. Dad, when's noah coming home?
Nick: He's at joey'S. I'm gonna go pick him up in about an hour.
Cassie: Can I come with you for the ride?
Nick: Yeah, of course.
Sharon: Cassie, wait.
Sharon: I need to talk to you.
Cassie: About what?
Nick: Hey, you know what? Why don't we all go inside?
Cassie: No, dad. Whatever she needs to say, she can tell me right here.
John: Now, jill, I am not trying to hurt you, just the opposite. I'm trying to keep you from being hurt.
Jill: I know. I know. I'm sorry. I owe you an apology. I've been accusing you of things and I shouldn'T. It's unfair. 'Cause the truth is, knknow your heart is in the right place. I know you would never hurt me on purpose, but katherine would. Katherine is behind all this, and katherine has sold you a bill of goods.
John: No, she hasn'T. Now listen. When I first heard the name charlotte ramsey, I became curious. There was something about the ramseys in the past. And everything that I got from katherine, I had to pull out of her.
Jill: Don't be so naive. Katherine told you that whole vicious story because she can't stand to see me happy. And if she told one person, she has told a hundred others.
John: Oh, jill, she didn't tell me!
Jill: It's one thing to hurt me. It's another thing to go after my mother! God help me, john, I am gonna tear her heart out.
John: Now come here. Come back here!
Jill: If you hear... no. From charlotte, tell her to call me.
John: Jill, come back here! Damn it.
Kay: All right, charlotte, say what you have to say. Be brief, then leave.
Charlotte: You had a child, remember?
Kay: Yes, I had a child. Brock is the light of my life.
Charlotte: Hmm. Come on, katherine. This is me. I was there. There was another child.
Kay: Charlotte, don't do this.
Charlotte: Your marriage had been rocky. Gary reynolds-- oh, what a man he was.
Kay: Don't you dare mention his name.
Charlotte: The two of you needed some time off from each her. He went to europe for a whole year. Germany, wasn't it? Some big project. He took little brock with him...
Kay: I don't want to hear this.
Charlotte: You were hurt, angry and lonesome. You and I painted the town on a regular basis...
Kay: Stop!
Charlotte: Oh, come on. What's wrong with remembering the fun we had when we were young? Oh, the men, the wonderful men. Well, one, in your case. I couldn't get pregnant anymore... but you could, and you did!
Kay: Why are you doing this?
Charlotte: I have a reason, katherine. It has to do with your child.
Kay: No. No. No. No. You were to put that baby in the hands of peoplewho would see it was adopted by a good family. Then you were to take off somewhere and find yourself a new life with the money that I paid you, and you were never... (whispering) you were never, never to come back to genoa city.
Charlotte: You were so anxious for me to disappear.
Kay: Well, yes, and why not? You were a taker. I helped you in a very difficult time. You almost died, but I was there for you, and later, when I needed you, oh, you were there for me but with that hand extended, and you asked for money.
Charlotte: I'd been disowned by my own family. I had no choice.
Kay: I had no choice but to pay you. I also thought I could get rid of you at the same time.
Charlotte: And it worked for all these years.
Kay: Why are you back?
Charlotte: Fate, I guess. Who knew that jill would suddenly go looking for her birth mother?
Kay: Somehow you managed to forge your signature on that baby's birth certificate. But how'd you do that? You simply can't go down there and rifle through records and do whatever you want.
Charlotte: That's my whole point, katherine. This wasn't recent. I put my name on jill's birth certificate the day after she was born.
Kay: You what?
Charlotte: I tried to just drop the baby off. The people at the hospital wouldn't let me. Either I told them where I got the baby, or they were going to call the police. So I said it was mine. They didn't really care. They just needed a name to write down.
Kay: You... put your name on my baby's birth certificate?
Charlotte: You didn't want yours on it, did you? Wasn't that the whole point? What you paid me for?
Kay: Are you telling me... my baby was jill?
Kay: Oh, god.
Kay: Oh, god. Jill?
Raul: Now, brittany, listen to me. I realize that you're angry at your parents, and you have every right to be. They disappointed you. But I am not your mom or your dad, and just because they let you down doesn't mean that I will. My god, look. I'm never gonna walk away from you, you got that? And you can push me as hard as you want. I'm not going anywhere.
Raul: Now you can put up this brave front and pretend like none of this bothers you...
Raul: But as messed up as your parents are, and as much as they've hurt you, you still love 'em. I know you, brittany. And I know that underneath your tough skin, your heart is breaking.
Brittany: I don't give a damn about my parents, raul.
Raul: Baby, you don't mean that.
Brittany: Yes, I do! If they want to act like idiots, fine. I'm done with them!
Raul: Brittany.
Brittany: Look, I really appreciate everything you're trying to do, but I can't listen to any more of this. I've gotta go.
Raul: I'll go with you.
Brittany: No, I want to be alone. See you later.
J.T.: Colleen, listen to me.
Colleen: I don't want to hear it.
J.T.: You have to let me explain.
Colleen: Why? What could you possibly say to explain this? You were kissing brittany's mom. I mean, that's not beyond wrong. It's disgusting.
J.T.: I never meant for it to happen.
Colleen: Then why did it?
J.T.: It's a long story. Look, while brittany was away, things got really hard for her mom. Look, all I meant to do was help anita find her daughter, that's it.
Colleen: Anita? I remember when I was teasing you about calling her that. That was a while ago, J.T. How long has this been going on?
J.T.: The point is, colleen, it's over.
Colleen: Didn't look over to me at the lodge.
J.T.: It happened one time, colleen. One time, that's it.
Colleen: I don't get it, J.T. This woman is twice your age. What could you possibly get from her? Oh, my god. What you said before-- that it only happened--
J.T.: Colleen...
Colleen: You slept with her?
J.T.: Yes.
Colleen: I think I'm gonna be sick.
J.T.: Colleen, please.
Colleen: Oh, my-- you lied to me.
J.T.: No.
Colleen: No? Then what would you call it? You said that you were okay with taking things slow. I even asked you if you were okay with that. You said you were.
J.T.: I'm so sorry, colleen.
Colleen: My dad was right. I told him that you were not the kind of guy he thought you were, that you wou n never do anything to hurt me.
J.T.: I never wanted to hurt you, colleen, never.
Colleen: Too bad I found out, right? God, I waited so long for you to tell me that you love me, and when I finally do, it's out of guilt?
J.T.: No, I swear to you, everything I said to you was true.
Colleen: And why should i believe that?
J.T.: I'm not trying to make excuses for what I did. I know it was wrong. Colleen, I know that. Please, just... please give me a chance to make it up to you.
Colleen: How?
J.T.: I don't know. I don't know, but there has to be a way.
Colleen: I think you should leave.
J.T.: No. No, colleen.
Colleen: I mean it, J.T.
J.T.: What are you saying?
Colleen: I'm saying I want you to go.
Charlotte: Your baby got adopted, like you wanted. No one was ever goint to know about the society lady's little... mistake. Except now they have those search agencies.
Kay: No. No. No. No. This can't be happening, not now. This just cannot. It cannot be happening.
Charlotte: It wouldn't be, except that you told john abbott all about my little medical history.
Kay: I had no idea why he was asking all those questions.
Charlotte: Messed up a pretty nice deal.
Kay: You have known about this ever since that agency contacted you.
Charlotte: I put it out of my mind. I like jill. She's crazy about me. We were getting along like a house afire. No reason to think you were a factor.
Kay: But you knew! You knew!
Charlotte: Listen, if you'd kept your mouth shut when john started nosing around, you'd have kept your secret. I'd have had a daughter to care for me in my old age. Now it's all shot to hell.
Kay: Leave! Please, leave.
Charlotte: Are you all right?
Kay: No, I damn well... I damn well am not all right. You have no idea what... I've got to have a drink.
Charlotte: I need one, too. So we'll fall off the wagon together.
Kay: I want you gone!
Charlotte: Oh, come on, katherine, it'S...
Kay: Did you hear me?! I want you out of my house, and I mean instantly! You shouldn't have come back, charlotte. You promised me. You promised me!
Charlotte: I'm going! Calm down! I'm going.
Kay: Oh, god. It can't be jill
Kay: It's not true.
Kay: Oh, god. Oh, precious god.
Kay: Let it be anyone else but jill! Please, god. (Whispering) please.
Kay: Oh, god! Not jill! Not jill!
Kay: Oh. Please, god. Mnh-mnh-mnh.
Samantha: When we think of the food in a hospital cafeteria, we think of bland soups, premade sandwiches
Sharon: Sit down next to me, cassie, will you? Gosh, you're getting so big.
Sharon: I guess you're pretty mad at me, huh?
Cassie: Shouldn't I be?
Sharon: I'm not gonna ask you to forgive me. 'Cause even if you could, I could never forgive myself.
Cassie: Whatever.
Sharon: I heard about your accident.
Nick: Your aunt victoria and I told her everything.
Sharon: You can't imagine how horrible I felt when I found o you were in the hospital. I should've been there for you.
Cassie: Daddy was there.
Sharon: Yeah, I know, and thank god for that... and for all the love and the support that you got from your whole family. But I am so deeply sorry that I couldn't be there for you when you needed me.
Cassie: Turned out I didn't need you. I'm fine.
Sharon: I want you to understand something that's very important.
Cassie: What?
Sharon: What I did--leaving-- that had nothing to do with you or your brother.
Sharon: I love you guys so much, and it broke my heart that I couldn't be the mother that you deserved. Every single second that I was away my heart was aching for my two precious children.
Cassie: Dad, do I have to listen to this?
Nick: Let her finish.
Sharon: All this anger and resentment you feel toward me-- I deserve it. You have every right to be angry. And someday I would like to explain to you why I did what I did, but for now, you just know that none of it was your fault-- none of it. I'm the one who messed up, and it kills me that I hurt you.
Cassie: Are you done?
Sharon: Yeah, I'm done.
Cassie: I'll be up in my room, dad.
Jill: Katherine, you lying bitch! Where are you, katherine?!
Esther: What is all the noise?
Jill: Where is she?
Esther: I don't know. Stop yelling.
Jill: I'll yell all I want. Is she upstairs? Katherine!
Esther: Jill, please. She is not upstairs. She was do h here awhile ago. She had company.
Jill: Well, where is she now?
Esther: I have no idea.
Jill: Oh, my god. Help me roll her over. Help. Katherine.
Esther: Mrs. Chancellor.
Jill: Katherine, wake up. Wake up, I have something to say to you. Katherine! Katherine. Katherine.
Esther: I'll go call 911.
Jill: Right away. Quick! Oh, my god. Katherine.
Esther: This is esther valentine at the chancellor estate. Could you please send...
Jill: Katherine. Katherine.
