Isabella: Yes, papa, I'm fi no, really, I am. Look, um, let's stick to paul. So after he dropped ricky off, are you saying he didn't stay with you and mama? So you don't know where he is right now? No, I'm sure he had his reasons. Okay, right, tomorrow. Okay, te amo

 Isabella: Are you happy now?

 Chris: Paul?

 Lynne: Chris?

Chris: Paul, are you in here?

 Lynne: I thought you and--

Chris: Don't even mention his name.

Lynne: But you told me you eloped.

Chris: Well, plans have a way of changing, don't they?

Lynne: What are you doing here?

Chris: Where is paul? I need to find him.

Lynne: I assume he's at home. He and his happy little family are moving to california tomorrow.

Chris: No, no one is going to california, not now.

Jill: We're not paying you $400 an hour to go running off to the dentist. Well, then you can damn well chew on the other side of your mouth until you havehohose contracts ready to sign. Now take two aspirin and get back to work.

 Liz: Dr. Jill?

Jill: Bloody lawyers. They charge you an arm and a leg, and then when they're halfway through your work and it'soooo late for you to take it to somebody else, they turn to other clients and start putting you off.

Liz: You're in a good mood today.

 Jill: No, I'm not.

Liz: Is there anything I can do to help?

Jill: No, mama. Thank you, but, no, I don't think so.

 Liz: Are you sure?

Jill: Are you sure you wouldn't mind talking about my birth mother?

Liz: You know I don't mind. Is there some problem with charlotte?

Jill: I don't know. I don't know, mama, and it is driving me crazy.

 Mac: Good morning.

Raul: Morning. You're hitting the wedding stuff this bright and early, huh?

Mac: I woke up with a few ideas, wanted to jot 'em down.

Raul: Uh-huh. Is billy still in bed?

Mac: He's not here. Left about 15 minutes ago.

Brittany: He couldn't take any more bridal talk, huh?

Mac: He had an errand to run.

 Brittany: Sure, he did.

Raul: The big day is coming up, right around the corner. Thank you.

 Brittany: Mm-hmm.

Raul: How are the plans coming?

 Mac: Pretty well, I think.

Brittany: Have you decided where to have the reception?

Mac: That's what I'm focusing on right now. I picked up some menus from a few different restaurants. They all have private rooms. I want to talk to billy so we can pick one out by tomorrow, put down a deposit.

Raul: Wow, you guys are really putting this shindig together in a hurry.

Mac: One major benefit of keeping it small and simple. I still can't believe it. In two weeks, billy and i will actually be married. It's gonna be the most amazing day of my life.

Kay: Oh, sorry to keep you waiting, billy. A catastrophe in the kitchen. Esther made eggs florentine all over the floor. Oh, never mind.

 Billy: It's no problem.

Kay: Oh, well, to what do I owe this pleasure?

Billy: My mom's not here, is she?

Kay: No, she left early fothe office.

 Billy: Good.

 Kay: I'm so sorry.

 Billy: For what?

Kay: Well, having to avoid your own mother this way. It's--I think it's terrible, especially during the most joyous times of your life.

Billy: Well, I might as well get used to it. I've always known that if I stayed with mac, I was gonna have to choose between her and my mom.

Kay: Well, still, I'm sure part of you would have hoped that jill would come around by now.

Billy: Well, anyway, I'm, uh, I'm not here to talk about my mom.

Kay: (Sighs) for a more pleasant reason, I hope.

 Billy: Yeah, you.

 Kay: Me?

Billy: You're one of the few people who's actually excited about this wedding, and I can't tell you how much that means to mac and me.

Kay: I wouldn't miss it for the world. I really wouldn'T. So how are the plans coming?

 Billy: Okay.

 Kay: Just okay?

Billy: Well, I, uh, I need to ask you for a favor, and I'm not entirely, uh, I'm a little uncomfortable. I didn't even tell mac that I was coming over here.

 Kay: Why not?

Billy: Because i have a good feeling she'd be pretty ticked at me.

Jill: I called the hotel, and charlotte didn't answer, so I kept calling. No charlotte. Finally, I had the front desk clerk go up and look, and she wasn't there.

Liz: Well, I'm sure the suite you got her is nice, but, jill, the woman does have a home.

Jill: Yes, I know she has a home, but she was back at the hotel this morning, mama. She sounded a little rough around the edges. She said she'd been out visiting friends. She even sounded a little put out that I was checking up on her.

Liz: Well, jill, from what you tell me, the woman isn't used to having someone concerned about her. It probably seems a little smothering at first.

Jill: Mama, a woman that age should not be out barhopping.

Liz: Oh, honey, you realize you may not be able to do anything about this.

Jill: Areouou saying she's hopeless? She's a hopeless alcoholic? Come on, mama, you don't know anything about her. You don't know anything about her.

Liz: Only what you told me.

Jill: She's not hopeless. You know, I might be able to get her into one of those really nice rehab places. She'd be comfortable there.

Liz: I'm not saying you couldn'T. I mean, some people want rehabilitation, but then some others have to be dragged there, kicking and screaming.

 Jill: Mama--

Liz: Oh, jill, seriously, how much do you know about this woman, I mean, really know? Have you talked to john abbott recently?

Ashley: You want to talk about it?

 John: What?

Ashley: Whatever's weighing on you. Something is.

John: I just wish I had some idea what to do.

 Ashley: Is this about jill?

John: I know you think I'm crazy worrying about her.

Ashley: Well, you can't protect her from herself, dad. You shouldn't even try.

John: Honey, I can't help it. I do not want to see her hurt.

Ashley: Anything new happen since we last spoke?

John: Yeah, I spoke to charlotte ramsey.

Ashley: Oh, her birth mother. Did she seem like a phony to you?

John: Well, it's nothing obvious, nothing that i could see right through, but there were false notes.

Ashley: Huh. Are you sure you hadn't already made up your mind?

Kay: Why on earth would mackenzie be angry with you for wanting to come and see me?

Billy: Mac says you wanted to help out with the wedding.

Kay: Are you having a little bit of trouble putting things together on such short notice? Because if you are, just mention my name and--

Billy: No, it's not that. You know, this wedding isn't gonna be some big production.

 Kay: Mm-hmm.

Billy: Still, the thing is, I, um...

 Kay: What, what, still what?

Billy: Well, this is, like, a huge deal for mac. It is for me, too, but it's different for girls, you know what I mean?

Kay: Oh, I was mackenzie's age myself once.

Billy: Right. What I'm trying to say is mac should have the kind of wedding she deserves. It should be something special, autiful. I really want to do that for her, and that's why I was wondering if maybe I could borrow some money.

Kay: Well, what kind of money are you talking about?

 Billy: 5 grand.

 Kay: 5 grand?

Billy: I know it's asking a lot, but I-- and I will pay you back, but I've got it all figured out. I can do it in installments. It might take me awhile, but I figure--

 Kay: Billy, billy, billy...

Billy: I can swing a couple hundred a month--

Kay: I cannot possibly lend you that amount of money, no.

 Billy: Oh. Okay, I-I understand.

Kay: No, I can't lend it to you because I would love to pay for the wedding myself. Please, may I? Please.

Brittany: So tell us more. Have you decided on a dress?

 Mac: Not yet.

Brittany: Well, you better get moving. A wedding's all about the dress.

Mac: I thought it was all about getting married.

Brittany: Well, you know what I mean. You want to look amazing, right?

Mac: Yeah, but I went to a few boutiques. Those gowns are so expensive, it's insane. So I just figured I'd get myself a basic white gown.

Brittany: You're buying off the rack?

 Raul: What, is that bad?

Brittany: Well, it's not good. Well, why don't you ask lauren? I'm sure she can help you find something and maybe even cut you a deal.

Mac: I don't want to be a nuisance.

Brittany: It's your wedding. You have a right to ask a favor or two.

Raul: She's got a point, C.C. Besides, didn't you say lauren was like your fairy godmother at both of your proms?

Mac: Yeah, maybe I'll talk to her.

Brittany: So what else have you come up with?

Mac: Well, let's see. I'm going to the flower market the morning of the wedding, pick out a few bunches of tulips.

Raul: I think it's pretty smart. Probably save yourself a couple of bucks.

 Mac: That's the idea.

Raul: Well, it sounds like you have everything under control.

Mac: Yeah, I guess I do.

Brittany: What about the wedding party?

Mac: Well, I'm not sure who billy's got in mind for his best man, though I do have my suspicions, and, uh, as far as maid of honor--

Brittany: Oh, wait, don't tell me. It's colleen, right? Another starry-eyed romantic.

Mac: Actually, I have someone else in mind.

 Raul: Who?

 Mac: Brittany.

 Brittany: What?

Mac: Yeah. How about it, britt? Would you be my maid of honor?

]

Lynne: God, chris, how do you feel now?

Chris: Knowing that you were right all along?

Lynne: Oh, come on, I would never say--

Chris: I know, but you could, you know that? You could say you told me so. I just didn't have the brains to listen.

Lynne: You know, don't talk like that.

Chris: I just feel so used and so stupid.

Lynne: You're not. You weren'T. You and paul were victimized.

Chris: Yeah, well, where is he? I have to find him. He's gotta know about this.

Lynne: Look, this might not be the right time. Thank god you found out now before you and michael got married.

Chris: I know, I know. Can you believe I trusted him? And that's the irony of it all. I mean, I finally, completely open my heart up to michael, and he finally felt guilty enough to tell me the truth.

Lynne: He doesn't get any points for confessing, not in my book. What he and isabella did to you and your marriage is beyond despicable.

Chris: He actually thought that it might be okay, that I might feel like he did me a favor.

Lynne: Have you talked to anyone else about this?

Chris: Yeah, I had the pleasure of letting isabella know that her perfect little world's about to crash and burn.

Lynne: When did you see isabella?

Chris: Last night. The second I got back from galena, I went straight to their apartment trying to find paul.

Lynne: And he wasn't there, obviously.

Chris: Oh, god, I wanted to kill her.

Lynne: Well, of course you did.

Chris: No, I mean it. I wanted to kill her. I wanted isabella dead. I actually threw her down on the couch, and I put my arms around her throat, and I started squeezing her neck. Lynne, you know I'm not a violent person, but when I saw that smug little look on her face, I-- I came as close as I ever have to murdering someone with my own hands.

Lynne: I'm sorry, chris. You don't deserve to go through this.

Chris: All that matters now is finding paul and making sure he knows exactly what was done to us.

Lynne: He wasn't home last night?

Chris: Or this morning, I went by there first, and either isabella isn't at home either, or she's hiding out. She's doing everything she can to keep me away from paul.

Lynne: Well, you let her try. It won't work forever.

Chris: Do you expect him here today?

 Lynne: I don't think so.

Chris: Okay, but he might come by, right?

Lynne: There is a chance. The movers are scheduled. He did finish packing yesterday.

Chris: Well, if I have to camp outside of his house, I will do it. I have to talk to him. He has to kn,, and the sooner the better.

Lynne: Look, you're welcome to stay here. I have to run out for a little while.

 Chris: That's fine, you go.

Lynne: Look, for what it's worth--

Chris: Lynne, please, all right? We'll just--we'll talk later.

 Lynne: Okay.

Isabella: You know what I want to do right now, michael?

Michael: No, you want to-- tell me-tell me, isabella, what do you want to do right now?

Isabella: I want to take the letter opener off your desk--

Michael: You know what? Don't go there, all right?

Isabella: Oh, you don't think I would? You don't think I hate you enough right now for what you did?

 Michael: Who told you?

Isabella: Who do you think? Your lovely ex-fiancéE.

Michael: Look, could we just table this--

Isabella: What the hell were you thinking, michael? I warned you. I warned you, but, no, you didn't listen. Why, why would you tell christine that we broke up her marriage? Was it to destroy my only chance of happiness, or was it to tear my little boy's family apart? Tell me, michael. I really want to know. What did I do to you to deserve this?

Michael: Isabella, this was never about you. It just--

Isabella: Oh, okay. Well, gee, that makes it so much better.

 Michael: Look, just let me--

Isabella: No, you look, you idiot, you look. I never asked for any of this. I was supposed to show up here, and waylay paul. That's it. That's all I agreed to. But, no, you swore if-if I did that, we would be even. Okay, I didn't plan to seduce paul, I didn't plan to fall in love with him, but I did, and you loved it. You cheered me on because it helped your cause, and the one thing, the only thing that you were supposed to do was keep your mouth shut. You owed me that.

 Michael: Isabella, please--

Isabella: No, damn it, we had won, michael. We had won. We were home free, about to start incredible new lives, but, no, you couldn't keep quiet. You ruined my life, and I hate you! I hate you for that. I hate you for all of that. I hate you.

 Michael: Wait! Isabella, stop.

Isabella: No, leave me-- I hate you. (Cries) why did you do this? Why? ó Ñ oh no! That's 56 grams of refined sugars coming at me. tt r r

dw t line and that's cacararag g .. feel a little bra I will only say this. And os playing were bel dnking andererhehe

Brittany: You want me to be your maid of honor?

Mac: I know we've never talked about it.

Brittany: I-I don't know what to say. Why me?

Mac: It would mean a lot to me if you were part of the wedding.

Brittany: You know, I'm really flattered, but, um--

Mac: Are you saying you don't want to do it?

Brittany: I don't think it'd be a very good idea.

 Raul: Why not?

Brittany: It's not something that you should pick just because it's convenient.

 Mac: Convenient?

Brittany: Well, yeah, I mean, you know, we're roommates and raul is my boyfriend, and, you know, maybe you figured, "hey, two birds with one stone."

Mac: That's not what this is about, brittany. I really want you there with me.

Brittany: Well, what about all that other stuff?

 Mac: What other stuff?

Brittany: Our history. Some of it's not exactly pretty.

Mac: I know, but we've come a long way. I mean, there was a time we could barely even stand to look at each other. I don't know how it happened, but somehow, we became friends.

 Brittany: Friends...

Mac: You might not be ready to admit it, but it's true. We've been through a lot together, brittany, good and bad. We know each other better than just about anyone. We rely on each other. We trust each other. Billy and me, raul and you, we're like f family now, and on my wedding day, who else would I want to be there with me but my family? So will you please say yes? Be my maid of honor.

Brittany: What you said, that was very touching, but my answer is no.

 Raul: Brittany, how can you--

 Brittany: No, I'm sorry, mac. I just--I can'T. I can'T. I hope I haven't offend d you.

Mac: Well, uh, I guess that's that. I'm gonna go.

 Raul: Mac, wait, don't--

Mac: No, no, it's okay. I have to, um, go to the stationary store, look at some invitations. I'll see you guys later.

 Raul: Why'd you do that?

Jill: Mama, why would you ask if I've spoken to john abbott?

 Liz: Oh, I just wondered.

 Jill: Well, I haven'T. Should I have?

Liz: Oh, I didn't mean anything like that.

Jill: When I left you and john together the other night at gina's, did he tell you something that I should know?

 Liz: No.

 Jill: Mama?

Liz: Jill, the people who really care about you are hoping that this charlotte person turns out to be someone who's really good.

Jill: I cannot believe how wound up everybody is getting because I said she drinks a little. I shouldn't have said anything at all.

Liz: Honey, when you first went to school, I told you to be careful, not to make friends with the first person who wants to make friends with you, to take your time. Do you remember?

Jill: No, but it sounds just like you.

Liz: It's just that when someone is really eager, it's a good idea to step back.

Jill: Who says charlotte was eager? I sought her out. I contacted her. She won't even tell me where she lives. Heck, I gotta stick her in a hotel to have any idea at all how to find her. Mom, I hear what you're saying, okay? But this isn't one of those times, and I'm so lucky to have found her. I really want to help her. (Intercom beeps)

Jill: Yes, elsiann. She is? Ask her to come in. It's, uh, it's charlotte. She's here.

John: Ashley, honey, it sounds like you're defending the woman.

Ashley: Not at all. I just know that it's easy to hear what you think you're going to hear.

 John: You think I'm beinprprejudiced?

Ashley: I think it's highly unlikely this woman's a fraud.

John: Yeah, but that's not what you said the other day.

Ashley: I know, I know, but I've given it a lot of thought, and you said that a search agency found this woman, right?

 John: Yeah.

Ashley: They have to be meticulously careful, I mean, for obvious reasons.

 John: Yeah, but, ash, there--

Ashley: One second, daddy, just say, for the sake of argument, that this agency finds this woman and says, "we found the child that you gave up for adoption. Would you like to meet her?" Now why would this woman say yes if she'd never given a child up for adoption?

John: Because it could happen. I mean, what if someone is open to the opportunities of financial gain? And they figure, "oh, let's see what happens," and someone like jill walks in, who works in an office like jill, and then they discover that she's an officer of the company. Bingo, she starts heining cash registers.

Ashley: Well, everything we're saying is possible because, I mean, basically, anything in life is possible, but it is highly unlikely, and you seem awfully worried for something that's so unlikely.

John: No, I'll tell you what's unlikely, charlotte ramsey has never had a child, but she did have an abortion, which left her unable to have children, and she is looking jill in the face and saying, "I am your birth mother." Now if you think that's possible, please, explain it to me.

celebrate the wholesome goodness

Raul: Why'd you say no to mac?

 Brittany: I had to.

Raul: What does that mean? You know she's totally devastated, right?

Brittany: Why are you getting so angry?

Raul: Look, I'm not angry. I just don't get it. Mac asked you to stand up for her at her wedding, which is a huge deal already because she's reaching out to you like that.

 Brittany: I know it is.

Raul: Well, what? Do you have a grudge against her or something?

 Brittany: No.

Raul: Then why did you turn her down?

Brittany: Because I'm not the right person for the job, okay?

 Raul: Oh, brittany.

Brittany: Why do you care so much? So the four of us aren't gonna be the picture-perfect wedding party.

Raul: You could have at least told her you'd think about it.

Brittany: I've made my decision. Can we dp p this now?

Raul: No, we can't, not until you explain yourself.

Brittany: Fine. You want to know the real reason why I said no?

 Raul: Yes.

Brittany: Because I don't want to be a hypocrite.

Raul: What are you talking about?

Brittany: Oh, you heard mac going on and on about how thrilled she is to get married and how excited she is about spending the rest of her life with billy. Well, as much as I want to be happy for her, I can'T.

 Raul: Why not?

Brittany: Because I don't believe in marriage anymore.

Raul: Hey-- hey, d s something happen?

 Brittany: My parents are separated.

 Raul: Since when?

Brittany: Right before I got back to genoa city. My dad didn't want to tell me, but I forced it out of him. I shouldn't be surprised. Couples never stay together. All that love and commitment stuff, sooner or later, it all disappears.

Kay: Oh, my, you're looking very introspective.

Billy: You sure you want to do this, mrs. C.?

 Kay: What?

 Billy: Pay for the wedding?

Kay: Yeah, of course I'm sure. That is, uh, if it's all right with mackenzie.

Billy: It is so unbelievably generous of you.

Kay: Well, it's my pleasure. All right, now tell me more about the wedding plans.

Billy: Well, mac's handling most of it.

Kay: Oh, that figures. (Laughs) in my experiences, um, asking, uh, the man what color the linen should be is a total waste of time.

 Billy: (Laughs)

Kay: The eyes glaze over, and there's--

Billy: Well, mac's been pretty good about keeping me outta that kind of stuff.

 Kay: Good.

Billy: She still wants me involved in most of the big decisions, but mostly, she's running the show, which is gonna be a much nicer show, thanks to you.

Kay: I really can't wait to see my granddaughter walking down the aisle.

Billy: Yeah, that makes two of us.

Kay: I get teary every time I think about it. You know, um, billy, we live in very uncertain times, so you and mackenzie should cherish every day that you're together.

 Billy: I promise, we will.

Kay: Good. Something just occurred to me.

 Billy: What?

Kay: Mackenzie never showed me her engagement ring.

Billy: That's because i never gave her one.

 Kay: Oh, I see.

Billy: I feel kinda bad about it, but mac and I talked, and we just don't have the money right now. I'd rather spend it buying the wedding bands.

Kay: Well, perhaps i could be of some assistance.

Billy: No, mrs. C., I can't take any more money from you.

Kay: Well, that's good because I wasn't going to offer you any more.

 Billy: What's this?

 Kay: Well, just open it.

 Billy: A diamond ring?

Kay: It was the engagement ring that mackenzie's grandfather gave to me.

Billy: This is beautiful, but I-I can't take this.

Kay: You most certainly can, and you certainly will. Mackenzie should have this. This is a family heirloom.

Billy: Wow, this-- this is, um, thank you.

Kay: Well, I hope the ring means as much to mackenzie as it did to me.

 Billy: I'm sure it will.

Kay: You know, seeing this, it, uh, just brings back so many memories.

Billy: I've never heard you talk much about mac's grandfather.

Kay: Where does one begin with him-- gary reynolds? He was a good man, exciting man, loved his son. Brock was the centerf f his life. So that's why it's appropriate that, um, mackenzie should have this ring.

Billy: Was it a good marriage?

Kay: Oh, we had some wonderful times. You know, not to say it was perfect, but then no marriage is.

Billy: More good days than bad, though, right?

Kay: Oh, definitely. A marriage is one of the greatest blessings of anyone's life, and it takes work. You have to stick with it through the difficult times, and, believe me, there... there are some very difficult times.

Billy: That sounds like a warning.

Kay: Hmm? No, no, no, no, not really. I know that you and mackenzie have a very deep love for one another, and I truly believe that you're going to have such a long, healthy, happy life, but promise me you will remember my telling you about cherishing each and every day. Never, never, never, never take one another for granted.

Billy: You don't have to worry about that.

Kay: I know I d't'T. I would be proud to have mackenzie wear this ring, and I'm sure her grandfather would feel the same way, too.

Billy: She's gonna love it. Now I just need to find the right time to give it to her.

Kay: Oh, well, considering that your wedding is only a few short weeks away, I would think there's no time to waste. So why don't you just get up and get at it?

 Billy: (Chuckles) thanks, mrs. C.

 Kay: You're welcome.

 Billy: Thanks for everything.

Kay: My pleasure, my pleasure. Oh, billy, billy, now just go and sweep my granddaughter right off her feet.

 Billy: Yes, ma'am.

Raul: Did your dad move out of the house?

Brittany: My mom. She's staying in a hotel.

Raul: What do you think happened?

Brittany: My dad said there was a misunderstanding.

 Raul: On whose part?

 Brittany: Take a wild guess.

 Raul: Your mom.

Brittany: I know there has to be more to it.

Raul: Why do you say that?

Brittany: Because I know my parents. They've had plenty of misunderstandings before. No one's ever walked out.

Raul: Well, maybe this isn't just about one thing, brittany. Maybe this is about a bunch of stuff that's been building up over the years. Your mom just can't take it anymore.

Brittany: No. Something happened. I know it did.

Raul: Have you talked to your mom?

Brittany: My dad asked me not to. Said he wanted some time to try to work this s out with her.

Raul: Well, good. That's a good sign, right? At least they're talking.

Brittany: I guess. I don't know why this is affecting me so much.

 Raul: Well, they're your parents.

Brittany: But their marriage has been a disaster for years. Somehow, they've always managed to stay together. They can't just give up.

 Raul: I'm sorry, baby.

Brittany: Now do you see why I can't be mac's maid of honor? How can I act like marriage is the greatest thing in the world when my own parents' marriage is falling apart?

Jill: Well, this is such a treat having both of you here together. Um, charlotte, this is my mama. Now please understand, that's what I've always called her, and that's not going to change. Mama has been saying how much she's been looking forward to meeting you.

Charlotte: Well, really, I feel the same way. Thank you, liz.

Liz: Well, it did seem only normal that I would want to meet you. I mean--

Jill: Oh, no, no, no. I think charlotte means thank you for raising me.

 Liz: Oh?

Charlotte: That's exactly what I meant you did a wonderful job with her.

Liz: Thank you. So you're from around here?

Charlotte: Oh, sure. That's why jill was born here.

 Liz: Uh-huh. That makes sense.

Jill: Um... where were you last night?

Charlotte: Out. Now listen, we've been over this on the phone. I like the hotel room. It's nice, but I've got to feel free to go and come as I please. Was she always this bossy?

Liz: I-I think I'm going to head out.

 Jill: No, please, don't go.

Liz: Oh, no. I've been wanting to go out and see katherine chancellor, and this is a good day for it.

 Jill: Mama, please stay.

Liz: It was really nice to meet you, charlotte, and I do hope I see you again.

 Charlotte: Yeah, sure, liz.

 Liz: Talk to you soon.

Charlotte: She seemed uncomfortable, my being here.

Jill: No. I mean, I'm sure she wasn't uncomfortable. It's just probably a little strange for her, this whole situation, you know. I'm sure she meant what she said about going to see katherine.

 Charlotte: Those two are friends?

Jill: Oh, yes, big-time.So how's the hotel suite? Is it to your liking?

Charlotte: Oh, love it. I ordered some room service. Hope you don't mind.

Jill: Oh! You go right ahead.

Charlotte: I haven't stayed in too many places that had room service, let alone a chocolate on the pillow.

Jill: Well, it's never too late to learn to live well.

Charlotte: Oh, amen to that. But I don't want to take advantage.

Jill: I want you to take advantage. You are my mother.

Charlot: : Oh, that's sweet of you. Thanks.

Jill: So where were you last night?

 Charlotte: I told you--out.

Jill: Yes, I know, but out where? Look, I am not trying to cramp your style here.

Charlotte: Well, it feels like it.

Jill: Well--okay, would you at least tell me where this favorite bar of yours is, just in case I need to get in touch with you?

Charlotte: You don't need to come looking for me. I can take care of myself.

 Jill: But what--

Charlotte: You need to get this straight, little girl. I'm not some doddering, helpless elderly person who's going to be treated like a child-- not by you or anybody else! Do you understand?

Ashley: Well, now that I can't explain. But, hey, from what you've told me, maybe some good will come out of this. Jill seems to be having the time of her life with this woman. For someone who doesn't know her that well, that's a distinct advantage.

 John: Ash...

Ashley: Well, it is, dad. Maybe thisomoman is a little needy and grateful to jill and treating her like a princess. That's a tailor-made situation for someone like jill who doesn't get along that well with that many people. Maybe jill wants to rewrite her life with a different storyline.

John: Ash, look, I really don't want to get into a discussion about jill's shortcomings. The point of this whole thing is this--if this woman isn't jill's birth mother-- and I don't see how she could be--then she's, very simply, a con artist.

Ashley: Well, if that's the case, then jill does need to know, 'cause that'll give her the choice whether or not she wants to keep looking for her real bir p parents.

John: Right, and I feel I owe her that.

Ashley: But do you have proof, dad? Because if you sound the alarm, and charlotte ramsey does turn out to be jill's birth mother, jill will never let you forget it.

John: No. You're right. I do need proof... and I think I know where to get it. Ocówwñ that's great. Go wash up.

Michael: All right. Can I let you go now? Is it safe? All right. All right.

Isabella: You are the stupidest, most pathetic man--

Michael: You know, can I get a word in here?

Isabella: What, are you gonna try and explain this? You gonna make excuses?

Michael: Yeah. I want you to understand why I did what I did. I just want you to understand.

Isabella: Yeah, I know why you did what you did. You hadn't self-destructed in awhile, and you thought maybe it was time.

Michael: I could not marry a woman like christine with that on my conscience.

 Isabella: Michael, save it!

Michael: All right! All right. You know what? I am sorry! I'm so sorry! I hope that helps!

Isabella: No, it doesn't help. You know why? Because it doesn't change the fact that you single-handedly destroyed both of our lives.

Michael: Oh, man. If I had to do it over, believe me, isabella, I would seriously reconsider involving anyone else.

 Isabella: How noble.

Michael: I blew it. And you know when? Two years ago. This was doomed. We should have known it from the start.

 Isabella: Oh, no.

You should have known it from the start. I was a pawn. My falling in love with paul had nothing to do with this. That was true, and that was pure, and I deserve it, and I deserve him.

Michael: I could not live a lie. I couldn'T... even if it meant losing the woman I love, I couldn'T.

Isabella: Well, I'm not gonna give up. I'm not losing paul to christine. If that woman wants a fight, my god, she's gonna get one. (Door opens)

 Chris: Paul?

 Andy: Hey, christine.

 Chris: Andy, hi.

Andy: Wow. You were about the last person I'd expect to see here.

Chris: I'm sorry if I startled you. I need to find paul.

Andy: Okay. You seem a little anxious here.

Chris: Do you have any idea where he is?

 Andy: Yeah. California. L.A.

 Chris: Already?

Andy: He gave me a call last night from the airport. I guess he's gonna drop the baby off with the in-laws, d d then isabella's gonna join up with him in a couple of days.

Chris: That just-- it doesn't make any sense. Why would he go without isabella?

Andy: He needed a little space. This is a pretty big step for him, chris.

Chris: So he's dropping ricky off. That means he's not staying with the braÑas.

Andy: No. Like I said, space. He needs some quiet time. He made a crack about camping at the beach. It's not like I thought he was serious.

Chris: I have to go. Thank you.
