Victor: Hey, son.

Nick: Thought you were out.

Victor: Just for a moment. They way you're dressed, I assume you didn't go to the office today.

Nick: I've been busy. Here's the latest report on the southeast region.

Victor: By the way, I want to have a meeting soon with all of our top people to discuss the satine purchase. I hope that you'll be there.

Nick: I'm already on record. I think it's a bad idea.

Victor: I'll tell you what I think is a bad idea, son, you discussing our personal family problemsth jack abbott.

Nick: Jack abbott was my stepfather. He's a friend.

Victor: Jack abbott is, and he certainly is no friend of mine. This company is your inheritance, your birthright. Anyone who threatens it is the enemy.

Nick: Well, does that include you? Are you an enemy? Because you're doing things with this company that just don't make sense.

Nikki: Well, it's too late tonight. Just send them by the office in the morning. Okay, bye. Hi, I'm sorry. I was just about to come down and relieve you.

Victoa:A: Miguel is with cassie. Don't worry about it.

Nikki: You seem upset.

Victoria: Cassie had a nightmare.

Nikki: Oh, what was it about?

Victoria: Sharon abandoning her.

Nikki: Damn that woman.

Victoria: I had to give her a sedative so she could go back to sleep, and I walk downstairs, and the only thing I wanted, the only tngng, was for sharon to walk through the door so that I could strangle her. You know, it's funny how life works out sometimes.

Nikki: What do you mean?

Victoria: Because before I knew it, the door was opening, and there she was. The two of us were face-to-face.

Noah: Where is daddy? Why isn't he here?

Cassie: Well, he's working. He has a lot to do with mom gone.

Noah: I wish she would come home.

Cassie: No, you don'T.

Noah: Yes, I do. I miss mommy.

Cassie: Well, you shouldn'T.

Noah: Don't say that! She's our mom. I love her.

Cassie: You shouldn't feel that way. You shouldn't have any feelings for her at all. She left us, and she's not coming back.

Paul: Okay, then...

Paul: Paid receipts for the year 2000, so where do you think those go?

Lynne: Paid receipt box, of course.

Paul: Well, of course, that makes sense, now doesn't it? Hey, lynne. What are you doing here so late anyway?

Lynne: Hahad a hunch you might need a hand at the last minute. What did you think, I'd be off somewhere sulking, mumbling to myself about how you're making the biggest mistake of your life?

Paul: Oh, come on, we've been through all this. I-I explained--

Lynne: Sorry. Forget I said anything, okay? Why don't you give me some of those files, and I'll help.

Michael: Hey, ooh, wait a second! Wait, um, I'm getting married tomorrow morning, and I'm feeling a little generous, so, uh, enjoy. Thank you.

Michael: (Chuckles)

Michael: All right, so we have flowers and, uh, champagne. (Champagne cork pops)

Michael: Good one. Let's see, uh, oh, right, marriage license. Everything looks in order.

Michael: Okay, michael, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your wonderful life.

Since we're spouting clichés,

big guy,

don't count your chickens

before they hatch. What the hell are you doing he??

Wither thou goest, I go. Oh, well, uh, get the hell out of here. I don't need you right now.

Stop with the attitude,

or I might not

feel like helping. Ha, as if you could help me. (L(laughs)

we're joined at the brain,

michael--

twins forever. Not now, not tonight.

You think

you can just snap your fingers

and I'll disappear,

just like that?

I don't think so. Just get out now. You leave me alone!

(Imitates whining baby)

(sighs)

flowers...

champagne. Nice touch.

This oughta help

win the lovely lady over.

Oh, but wait.

She's already won.

You're marrying christine

tomorrow.

What is all this? I love her.

Oh, blah, blah, blah, blah,

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. She is the woman of our dreams, and I want this to be perfect.

Oh, god.

I understand.

You are having

a crisis of confidence.

You're getting very nervous,

and you should--

these ridiculous thoughts

you're having. Good afternoon. The decision's in for christopher young.He was charged with manslaughter in the death of little elijah lebine. But tonight young is a free man. We'll have reaction to the decision. The people vying to be canada's next prime minister are in our city tonight. John manley, sheila copps and paul martin will square off in a debate. And calling cards save you money on long distance calls right? Not all the time. The troubleshooter talks to one woman who found that out the hard way. . We'll explain tonight at six. ;

Victor: What do you mea I'm your enemy?

Nick: You talk about someone threatening my birthright? This idea of yours, of taking on jabot, is a waste of money and energy. It's bad business.

Victor: Son, this company is what it is because I have taken on the competition, whatever the competition was, and I've defeated them.

Nick: Newman has zero need to be in cosmetics, zero.

Victor: We're not talking about need. This is a business opportunity, all right?

Nick: That's bull. You're trying to crush jack abbott. With you, it's personal.

Victor: I'm running this company as I see fit, son.

Nick: You're cutting off their funds.

Victor: What do you mean, I'm cutting off their funds? Did I force them to borrow millions of dollars from me? Now it's time to pay the money back. That's fundamental, son.

Nick: Whatever. You're the boss. I'm just a peon.

Victor: I have always respected you. What are you talking about?

Nick: No, you haven'T.

Victor: Is this all because of our disagreement over the purchase of satine?

Nick: We finished?

Victor: No, son, we are not finished!

Victor: What the hell is the matter with you?!

Victor: How are the children?

Nick: Cassie's still having nightmares about sharon.

Victor: I'm very sorry to hear that.

Nick: Yeah, me too.

Victor: Have you had any contact with sharon or not?

Nick: She hasn't written, called, e-mailed, nothing, but I'm at the point now where I don't care. I'm just taking care of my kids. If this is the next stage of my life, then I'm jumping in and living it.

Victor: That's a good attitude, but I guess when sharon does come back, you're gonna have to make room for her.

Nick: Maybe in the kids' lives, not mine.

Victor: You mean there's no hope of reconciliation?

Nick: Not evenh thinking about that. I mean, who knows if she's coming back anyway?

Victor: You don't have any feelings for her anymore?

Nick: She's all yours. You can have her.

Victor: I've never wanted your wife. What are you saying, son?

Nick: Make sure you read that report.

Nikki: Sharon is back? Oh, I hope you let her have it.

Victoria: Believe me, I think my sister-in-law knows exactly where everyone stands.

>>Nikki: Including nicholas?

Victoria: Definitely including nicholas.

Nikki: Good.

Victoria: You know, it was amazing, the gall. She acted like she had every right just to waltz back here like nothing happened.

Nikki: Wait a minute, wait a minute, she's not still here, is she?

Victoria: Oh, no, no, I told her to get the hell out.

Nikki: How much did you tell her?

Victoria: You mean about cassie? I almost didn'T.

Nikki: But she knows? So how did she take that?

Victoria: She was pretty destroyed. She kept demanding to know where cassie was, and you know what? I gave that woman a taste of her own medicine. I told her how traumatized cassie's been, being abandoned by her mother.

Nikki: Yeah, her very selfish mother.

Victoria: I kind of let it slip that cassie was upstairs asleep in her bedroom.

Nikki: Oh, victoria, my god--

Victoria: No, no, she did not see cassie. I practically had to throw myself in front of her to keep her from charging up there, but she did not see cassie.

Nikki: This time. There'll be a next time. She'll be back.

Victoria: If she hasn't already gone straight to nicholas. Tv

Noah: You shouldn't talk that way about mommy.

Cassie: You don't believe me, but she's been gone a long time. You know, she didn't even come back when I was in the hospital.

Noah: She didn't know, cassie. She's coming back. She will.

Cassie: No, she won'T. If she loved us, she'd be here.

Noah: She told me she loved me in her letter, and she said it in yours, too.

Cassie: You know what? I bet she's glad to be away from us.

Noah: No, don't say that. You're wrong.

Miguel: Whoa, whoa, partner, hold on, it's all right.

Nick: Noah, what's wrong, buddy?

Noah: Cassie's lying. She's saying bad things about mom.

Noah: She's saying mom doesn't love us.

Nick: Come here.

Paul: I'm gonna miss you, you know.

Lynne: Same here.

Paul: We've spent a lot of years together.

Lynne: Yep.

Paul: And I guess you realize how much I appreciate everything you've done for me over the years, all the... the weekends and late nights and...

Lynne: Come on, paul, spare me the testimonial. I'm not retiring.

Paul: I think you'll really enjoy working for andy. He's, uh, he's a great guy.

Lynne: Yeah, I know.

Paul: I hope you realize that when I said I was gonna miss you, it's not just your work. I'm gonna miss our friendship more than anything.

Lynne: When are you guys leaving?

Paul: Well, we have a flight booked for L.A., Uh, in the next couple of days.

Lynne: You made the reservations yourself?

Paul: Yeah, I didn't want to bother you with it.

Lynne: I would have been happy to do it.

Paul: No, I know you would've, but, you know, this way it's all done, and...

Lynne: So this'll be your son's first plane ride?

Paul: Yeah. I hope he's crazy about it.

Lynne: Oh, I'm sure he will be.

Paul: Lynne, are you all right?

Lynne: Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?

Paul: Look at me. Please, turn around.

Lynne: What?

Paul: I am making the right decision, moving my family to california. I just wish you'd realize that and accept it.

Lynne: I'm trying.

Paul: Yeah, I know. I really want to part on good terms.

Lynne: Oh, boss, there's so much in this world I would do for you, but I can't change how I feel.

Paul: I know. Well, someday I hope that you'll be able to make peace with my decision.

Lynne: Someday.

Paul: So until then, you want to do me a favo

Lynne: Yeah. What's that?

Paul: Try and let it go.

Lynne: I wish I could as easily as chris has.

Paul: What do you mean?

Lynne: She called me earlier. She and michael are eloping tonight.

Michael: Go. Go away.

You know, this is so ironic.

You and christine.

No wonder you're freakin'. I'm not freaking.

Hey, I'm inside your head, too.

I know freakin' when I feel .. you leave me alone.

You must be sub-mental

if you think

this is gonna work.

Christine wants

a straight-arrow husband, not--

although I admire

these qualities

in you greatly--

a liar and a manipulator. I've changed.

Tell me about it.

Where's the fun

in being your dark side

when you don't

let me out to play? Those days are gone. I've turned over a new leaf.

Oh, yeah. Ha.

Well, except

for one little problem,

right, mikey,

that nasty little secret

from your past?

Michael: That's the one thing that's keeping me from having a clear conscience, the one thing that's keeping me from having the-- the honest relationship christine deserves.

Mm-hmm.

That, uh, connection

between you and isabella,

that-that could really

screw things up

if you were to, say,

tell christine. How can I keep that from her?

(Laughs)

you kill me sometimes.

You're such a moron. (Laughs)

Michael: You're serious?

Oh, comen,n,

don't tell me you think

that old saw about confession

being good for the soul

really works.

Give me a break. I don't want any secrets between us.

Oh, get real!

Every relationship with a woman

is based on secrets.

You know, a little white lie,

what harm could that do?

But, you-you let

this bad boy out...

(makes crashing sound)

crash and burn, baby. I know there is a risk in telling christine the truth, but if I don't come clean, I won't have the marriage I want.

You come clean, buddy,

and you won't have

a marriage, period.

Michael: Aw.

You focus on two things,

first, how much you desire

the delectable christine

and how she'll be all yours

from tomorrow on,

only if you keep

your mouth shut.

If you don't,

forget it.

Chris: Hey, why so serious? What's going on in that head of yours?

Nick: Come here, buddy.

Nick: Now I want you to listen to me, okay? Your sister wasn't lying.

Noah: You mean, what she's saying is true?

Nick: Well, I can understand why she thinks that's true, but your mother loves you very much. I know she does.

Noah: Cassie's saying she's never coming back.

Nick: Well, I gotta be honest, that's a possibility.

Noah: We need her.

Nick: Buddy, I know you do.

Noah: Cassie says I shouldn't think about her.

Nick: Well, that would be pretty impossible, now wouldn't it?

Cassie: But, dad, it hurts to think about her. That's just how I feel.

Nick: But you can't put her outta your mind, can you? Look, sweetheart, I know what you're going through. I do. You wouldn't be having these nightmares if your mother didn't still mean something to you. The reason you're so scared is that you're frightened of the chance that she may never come back.

Cassie: I just don't understand how she could do this to us.

Nick: I know. It-- your mom's got some problems right now.

Noah: What kind of problems?

Nick: Well, I can't get into it. I know how much you hate hearing this, you guys, but it's grown-up stuff.

Noah: Will she get better?

Cassie: We don't know that. We don't know anything except that she's gone.

Noah: But she wrote us letters.

Cassie: She didn't write dad one.

Nick: You know what? That's not important what is important is that we have each other, and that means that we gotta stick together. Look, guys, I-I need your help, okay? The last thing our little family needs right now is for us to be fighting with each other. So what do you say, you guys with me?

Noah: I love you, daddy.

Nick: I love you, too, buddy, more than you know.

Nick: You too, kiddo.

Cassie: I love you.

Nick: Come here.

Lynne: Paul, did you hear what I said?

Paul: Yeah, they're eloping. I heard.

Lynne: You know what I think? When chris knew you were moving to california, when she realized it was really final--

Paul: Lynne, please, don'T.

Lynne: Paul, it's true, isn't it?

Paul: Just drop it, will you?

Lynne: It's not too late. It's not.

Paul: Hey, um, would you do me a favor, and, uh, finish up everything around here?

Lynne: Yeah, sure. You go home. There's, uh, there's not much left to do.

Paul: Hey, thanks for all your help. I, uh, I'll give you a call when I get to L.A., All right?

Lynne: Have a safe trip.

Paul: Come here.

Paul: You know, there's so much more I want to say. I mean, uh, everything you've done for me, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Lynne: I know. I know. You just go on. I don't want to totally lose it.

Paul: Okay. I'll miss you.

Paul: Um, listen, um, about chris, are you sure she said tonight?

Lynne: I'm sorry. You're looking live at edmonton from our skytracker atop manulife place.Good afternoon. I'm lesley macdonald. Holocaust denier ernst zundel is one step closer to being deported from canada...after being declared a national security risk. And a california man accused in the deaths of his pregnant wife and unborn son has a new, very high profile, lawyer. Plus...flying the world's largest airline is now going to cost you more if you want a "paper" ticket. That's...on edmonton's global news at 5:30.

Michael: Well, here's my beautiful bride-to-be.

Chris: I'm sorry I took so long. I decided to skip the shower and soak in a luxurious bubble bath.

Michael: Ohh, I came this close to joining you.

Chris: Why didn't you?

Michael: Well, isn't there some superstition about a groom seeing his bride before the wedding?

Chris: (Laughs) so now we're superstitious?

Michael: I just don't want to make any mistakes.

Chris: What's all this?

Michael: Well, uh, I thought we would toast the moment, and, uh, you could choose a restaurant. Later, we could hit the town. I can't vouch for the nightlife since I've never been in galena before, but I--

Chris: You know what? Just relax.

Michael: Okay. Sorry.

Chris: Are you okay?

Michael: Yeah, yeah, sure.

Chris: You seem a little nervous and hyper. Is something wrong? Did something happen when I was in the bath?

Isabella: Honey, hi. You're hom w where's ricky?

Paul: Still at my mom'S.

Isabella: Oh, I bet she was happy to have extra time with him.

Paul: Yeah, she was. So how's the packing coming?

Isabella: Well, without you and ricky underfoot, I'm like a whirlwind. So you're taking a break? Are you going back to the office later to finish?

Paul: No, all done.

Isabella: Really? That was quick.

Paul: Yeah, it was.

Isabella: You know, I wish there was some way I could keke this easier for you, leaving behind this city and your work and people you love. You know, if anything's bothering you, I'm here. You can talk to me.

Paul: I know.

Isabella: You hungry? There's some leftovers. I could make you a plate.

Paul: No, not really. I'm fine.

Isabella: Hmm, all right. I'm gonna finish packing the photo albums, and you relax, and then I'll take a break when I'm done.

Paul: Okay.

Isabella: Okay.

Isabella: Ohh, I love this picture of the three of us. I think we should blow it up and frame it. We can hang it in the new house.

Paul: You know what I'm thinking? I'm gonna catch a plane for california tonight. (Door closes)

Nikki: Hey, look who's here. I wasn't expecting you.

Cassie: Dad said we could stop by, you know, to say good night.

Nikki: Well, I like that.

Victoria: Nicholas, are you okay?

Nick: Yeah, why?

Victoria: Um, just, I'm surprised to see you so late.

Nick: Well, I was gonna put the kids to bed, but I heard a rumor that miguel's got some fresh cookies up here.

Nikki: Aha. Well, I am h@@to report that the rumors are true.

Noah: Can we have some?

Nikki: Well... normally, I would say no this close to bedtime, but I guess so.

Victoria: But it's a special occasion, so, yeah, come on.

Nikki: That's right.

Victoria: Come on. Let's go in the kitchen. We'll get some milk and cookies.

Nikki: Thanks.

Nick: Thanks, sis.

Nikki: You okay?

Nick: Yeah. I'm gonna get through this. Listen, I need a favor.

Nikki: Sure.

Nick: I'm kind of having some problems I need to dealitith.

Nikki: What do you mean, problems?

Nick: Well, it's with my milwaukee coffeehouse. I need to make some phone calls. Can you keep the kids up here?

Nikki: Oh, honey, of course. We'll just bring them down later. That's fine.

Nick: All right, thanks, mom.

Nikki: Sweetheart, it's wonderful seeing you like this, pulling your life together.

Nick: Just taking care of my kids. Right now I'm all they got.

Michael: Well, miss nerves of steel, it just so happens that we're gonna be married in the morning, and I think being a little hyper is to be expected.

Chris: Wedding nerves, that's all, huh?

Michael: Maybe I should ask you how you can be so cool and collected.

Chris: Well, just because I'm a little more low-key doesn't mean I'm not as excited.

Michael: Let me do that.

Chris: Okay.

Michael: It's not every day a man gets married.

Chris: Hmm, unlike me, who's had two extravagzazas.

Michael: You said it. I didn'T.

Chris: You know what I'd really like to do tonight?

Michael: What's that?

Chris: Stay in, order room service, just be together. (Liquid pours into a glass)

Chris: Ow.

Michael: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Chris: That's all right. Are you sure you're not upset?

Michael: Hmm, about what?

Chris: That I mtitioned my past marriages.

Michael: Well, it wasn't exactly what I'd hoped you'd be thinking on the eve of our wedding.

Chris: Look at me. All that matters now is how close we've become and the promises we'll make to each other when we say our vows.

Michael: We are an unlikely couple, aren't we?

Chris: Considering our history, the fact that we're about to be married, I'd say it's nothing short of a miracle.

Michael: I'll drink to that.

Michael: You know, I still can't believe that this is for real.

Chris: Well, you'll see how real it is once the honeymoon's over.

Michael: (Chuckles) the honeymoon is never going to be over.

Michael: To miracles.

Chris: Miracles.

Michael: Sorry, I've been a klutz all evening.

Chris: It's-it's okay. After the way you'vehahanged and the man you've become, I think I can handle this one little flaw.

Michael: Look, I'm not perfect. I am far from it.

Chris: No, but you're close to perfect, at least to me.

Isabella: I don't understand. You want to leave tonight, alone?

Paul: Well, yeah, or we could all go.

Isabella: Well, I have to finish packing, and someone has to be here when the movers come.

Paul: All right. Well, then, maybe I should take ricky. I could drop him off at your parents'.

Isabella: Oh, paul, I don't know if that's a good--

Paul: I think they'd love seeing him, and that would give me a chance to look for a house. And who knows? I could get lucky.

Isabella: I don't know. This is just all so sudden.

Paul: Well, I know it is, but it didn't occur to me until now. I really think it's a good idea-- I mean, unless you're worried about being alone.

Isabella: No. No, of course not. Paul, is this about you needing space and some time to adjust to the change?

Paul: Yeah, I think maybe a little.

Isabella: Well, in that case, how can I say no?

Paul: All right. Great. Then I'll call the airlines.

Isabella: Paul?

Paul: Yeah? Does this have anything to do with your talk with lynne?

Paul: What do you mean?

Isabella: Well, did she say something that upset you more than you're letting on?

Paul: Well, like you said, it, uh, it was hard. It was hard saying good-bye, and I think you're right. I need some space, you know, for a little while until... until you can join me.

Isabella: That's all it is?

Paul: Yeah, I think so.

Isabella: Okay.

Paul: Okay. Our first step

Michael: Come on, one more. One more. One more. One more.

Chris: Really, I'm stuffed, thanks.

Michael: Oh, yeah. Well... how about we get out of here for a while? We walk our dinner off, check t the town...

Chris: Mm-hmm. You come up with the best ideas.

Michael: Yeah, I know. I will get your jacket.

Chris: Thanks. Uh, yeah, um... I wasn't just soaking in the tub.

Michael: You wrote this?

Chris: Yeah. They're my vows.

Michael: We're writing our vow?

Chris: We don't have to. I just thought that maybe we could.

Michael: No, no, I just-- I haven't written anything yet. It'll be hard for me to put how I feel about you into words... especially by tomorrow morning.

Chris: Well, the last thing I want to do is spoil our evening, so that love, honor and cherish thing, that's fine.

Michael: No. No, no, no. Look, you went through all this trouble. At least read them to me. Come on. I will--I will sit over here, and there will be quiet.

Chris: Okay. Here it goes.

Michael: All right.

Chris: "Michael, my love, sometimes it amazes me how epeply I feel about you. And it's all the more remarkable because of the long and twisted road we've traveled to get to this place. So many obstacles, very few people rooting for us, and yet here we are ready to start life's journey together. And it's because of more than just love. It's also due to trust. There was a time when I never thought I'd be able to trust you, but inch by inch, against all odds, you fought for my trust and eventually earned it back. You proved by your actions that you deserved it. Now there's nothing I can't share with you. I'm equally sure there's nothing you would ever keep from me." What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?
