Is: Yes, michael. It'S... it's me.
Michael: ?
Chris: I'm kelly simmons.
Michael: Why?
Chris: Because christine williams wasn't exactly ready to come backcity yet.
Micha back. God. You're back.
Isabella: Are you saying you raped christine? Is that what you're telling me? That you forced yourself
Paul: Let's just say
it wasn't two mutually
adults making love, isabella.
Isabella: Oh, my god. You did. You raped her. Ould you please not use that word?
Isabella: Well...
Paul: You know, I'm not proud of i it's one of the darkest moments of my life.
Paul: I don't know. Maybe it was rape.
Isabella: I can't believe this.
Paul: Neither can I.
Isabella: How? How could this happen? You're... a man like you. How could you do such a thing?
Reese: Well, I gave you
some idea of the tests we were
going to perform on cassie
and what we hoped they'd reveal.
Nick: Whether there's a chance for a full recovery.
Reese: Or truthfully, nicholas, any recovery at all. We don't know how long cassie was lyinface-down in that pond. We do know that a very special inner reflex saved her from both drowning and freezing to death. Now what we needed to find out was whether the lack of oxygen had effectively destroyed the lines of communication between the body's nerve pathways and the brain. Now to test this, we applied various stimuli, and we looked for a response in cassie's brain waves.
Victor: And the results?
Reese: We're encouraged.
Nick: Why are you being so cautious?
Reese: Well, because cassie
is by no means home free.
And if we don't see
definite improvement soon,
I'm very much afraid
we could still lose her.
Olivia: Wes!
Wes: Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you.
Olivia: I didn't expect you'd still be here.
Wes: I was waiting for you.
Olivia: I'm sure I know why.
Wes: You think so?
Olivia: I have a feeling I'm in for a lecture.
Wes: Why would you think that?
Olivia: I'm sure you're furious that I told my sister what happened between us.
Wes: No lecture, I promise.
Olivia: Well, I know that you have unresolved feelings for her.
Wes: So?
Olivia: So it was a rotten thing to do without telling you.
Wes: Well, I'll admit that caught me by surprise, yes.
Olivia: Look. You know what?
If that's your nice way of
saying, "I'll wring your neck,"
just come out and say it, okay?
Because you weren't here.
You weren't standing there
looking at her!
She's playing you!
She's playing...
Neil: Guess who?
Dru: Denzel.
Neil: A little lighter shade of brown and a lot less money.
Dru: I give up.
Neil: The drucilla I know never gives up.
Dru: You smell good.
Neil: I missed you, baby. And that smell, that's the cologne that you gave me for christmas.
Dru: Yeah, I bought it in paris.
Neil: I know. So how was your day?
Dru: I had some stuff to do.
Neil: Oh, yeah? Well, my day was absolutely incredible, and you, baby, are responsible.
Dru: How so?
Neil: After our talk
this morning, I was inspired. Wait'll you hear about
the brainstorm I've had.

Nick: So you're saying you don't know how long cassie could be like this, looking like she's awake but just laying there staring straight ahead?
Reese: Yes, and that if she stays in this state much longer, what signs of neurological activity we've seen may begin to taper off. To what extent, I don't know.
Nikki: So she could be in a coma for a long time.
Reese: Or her brain stem which keeps her lungs and heart going may even fail over time.
Victor: In other words, we need to see improvement and soon.
Reese: That's right. And unfortunately, we're in a wait-and-see situation.
Victor: Thank you, doctor.
Reese: You will be the first
to know of any changes.
Nick: So that's it? She could live, she could die. You don't know? And there's nothing you can do for her? That's what you're saying to me?
Victoria: Nicholas...
Nick: No, I'm sorry, doc, but it's just not good enough.
Reese: Well, what would you propose I do, nicholas?
Nick: I don't know, man. That's your department. She's awake. It's not like she's dead. Do something, please.
Reese: Well, unfortunately, there isn't any medication or procedure that we can use to move things along. Believe me, I wish there were.
Victor: Son, will you calm down dr. Walker's on your side.
Nick: Don't tell me
to calm down.
That's my daughter in there.
Victor: Let me ask you, doctor. Do we know that cassie is incapable of speech and movement?
Reese: I don't understand the question, victor.
Victor: Well, is it that she can't talk? Or that she won't talk?
Reese: Well, under the circumstances, I'd say it's much more likely that physical trauma is responsible for her condition.
Victoria: Dad, she was face-down in that pond for god knows how long.
Victor: I'm perfectly aware of that, honey. I'm simply asking a question.
Reese: I understand
why you'd ask.
My only advice
is just don't go looking
for unusual explanations.
Nick: There's nothing more you can do? There's no more tests?
Reese: Nicholas, the test results were good. We saw brain activity where some people would say we probably shouldn't have. Let's just try and focus on that.
Nikki: Honey, the doctor's right. Let's just be grateful for the good news he's given us and pray there's more to come.
Reese: Okay.
>>Nikki: Thank you, doctor.
Victor: Yes, doctor. Thank you.
Nick: Why would you ask that? Why would you wonder if cassie won't talk?
Victor: Because she was very upset.
Nick: You're damn right
she was upset--
because her mother left,
and cassie couldn't handle it.
Victor: Son...
Nick: Don't "son" me. You've got a lot of nerve being here acting as if you care. Why don't you just leave?
Victor:Ouou start being careful about what you say, all right?
Nick: Fine. If you won't leave, then I will.
Victoria: Nicholas, wait.
Paul: You know, I've been asking myself that question for months. What kind of man am I that could inflict that kind of pain?
Paul: I went over to chris' because I was mad as hell. Because she didn't stop baldwin from showing up and announcing their engagement the way he did. Then we started arguing, and...
Paul: It just got out of hand.
Isabella: And tn n you two...
Paul: No, isabella, it wasn't like that.
Isabella: Well, then, how was it? I mean, she either invited you to the bedroom or not.
Paul: No, she didn't invite me into the bedroom. She went into the bedroom to get away from me.
Isabella: And you followed her in?
Paul: She cut me off. And I wasn't through talking to her. She slammed the door in my face. I was angry about baldwin. I I was angry about a lot of things.
Isabella: So you took your anger out on christine?
Michael: Christine, I can't believe it.
Chris: I realize it's a shock.
Michael: You're back,
and you're safe.
Do you have any idea
how worried I was about you?
There wasn't a day that went by,
not an hour when I wasn't
wondering how you were.
Chris: I'm fine. I've been fine.
>>Michael: How was i supposed to know that?
Chris: I didn't mean for you to worry.
Michael: How could I not? I haven't had a word from you in months. But... here you are. Standing right here in front of me.
Chris: I guess I don't have to ask if you've missed me.
Michael: (Laughs)
oh, no.
No, sweetheart.
You know, um,
I'm not big on religion.
But, you know, I...
I learned how to pray.
You know, I prayed and I prayed
that you would be safe,
and I prayed that you
would come home to me.
I have so many questions.
Chris: I'm sure that you do.
Michael: Where were you? Where did you disappear to? another person. Pull through. The bar life. Here in hopes of finding a
welcome back to "married by amde possible by fox broadcasting co. And friends of nci]
Wes: Is something wrong?
Olivia: I can't believe you did that.
Wes: Well, I had to do something to shut you up, and I really didn't think words were going to do the trick.
Olivia: Well, then I guess... I guess that's better than a talk.
Wes: Oh, you guess a kiss is better?
Olivia: Okay, okay. No, a kiss is definitely better.
Wes: Oh, you're not just
saying that so you won't
bruise my fragile ego?
Olivia: Your ego is the least fragile of any man I know.
Wes: And you're sure you're not upset with me?
Olivia: Upset with you? You should be upset with me. I'm the one with the big mouth.
Wes: You have a lovely mouth.
Olivia: Come on. Now because I blabbed to drucilla I'm sure it made it difficult for you to get through to her. I can just hear her now. "Do you want to be with my sister? You wanna be with me?"
Wes: No, olivia, let me talk for just a minute, all right? My discussion with your sister didn't go anything like you're thinking.
Olivia: You didn't argue?
Wes: No, we didn'T. We had a good heart-to-heart.
Olivia: Oh.
Okay, so...
things worked out between you.
Wes: Yeah, in a manner of speaking. I broke it off.
Dru: So tell me, what's genius boy come up with now?
Neil: All right, you ready for this? An african-american cosmetics line.
Dru: You know that's jabot's idea.
Neil: Well, so what? Any reason I can't have the same idea?
Dru: It's awfully coincidental. What's this going to be, part of newman's brash 'n sassy line?
Neil: Yeah. Either that or its own division. I already talked to victoria about it.
D dru: I'm sure you have.
Neil: She loves the concept, dru.
In fact, we already started
started the ball rolling.
It'll be a whole new market
for newman enterprises.
Dru: Oh, I'm sure, I'm sure.
Neil: It's about time that we target african-american women. Vicki loves the idea. I do, too, in case you can't tell.
Dru: Yeah, I can tell.
Neil: It'll be a real boost for us. Drucilla, what's up?
Dru: Nothing.
Neil: Are you sure? Are you all right?
Dru: Yeah, sure. Why wouldn't I be all right?
Neil: Well, I don't know, because you seem a little off.
Dru: Long day.
Neil: Tell you wh,, why don't you relax, kick off your shoes, and daddy'll turn on some music, pour you a glass of wine, and I'll give you one of my deluxe massages...
Dru: Some other time,
all right?
Neil: Some other time? What are you talking about?
Dru: You know, I'm really thrilled that I was able to inspire you. But you're gonna get me fired before I start with jabot. Thanks a lot. I'm gonna take a nice, hot bath, and then I'm going to bed.
Neil: Hey, now wait a minute! You can't go anywhere yet. You haven't even heard the best part.
>>Ictoria: You know, that was really unfair of you.
Nick: Was it? See, I thought it was really in control. Part of me still wants to rip his head off.
>>Victoria: Look, we both know
that dad loves cassie
and that he regrets,
as much as anyone,
what happened.
Nick: Well, I should damn well think so.
Victoria: Look, we're all in this together. Whatever issues our family is dealing with, they have to take a back seat to what's going on with your daughter.
Nick: How do I do that? I mean, it's all the same. Cassie never would have gone down to that pond if her mother hadn't left.
Victoria: You don't know why she was out there.
Nick: And sharon never would have left if dad wasn't trying--
Victoria: Look, you're being unreasonable. This is not a black-and-white, good-and-evil situation.
Nick: What do you mean?
Is there something
you're not telling me?
Nikki: If cassie doesn't come out of this...
Victor: Just don't say it. It's unthinkable.
Victor: Thank you.
Nikki: For what?
Victor: Thank you for your support.
Nikki: This whole situation is just destroying our entire family.
Victor: We can't let that happen, can we?
Nikki: I know you don't want to hear this, but I think it's in your hands.
Victor: How?
Nikki: Nicholas needs to know that the responsibility for all this is not on your shoulders.
Victor: I disagree.
Nikki: I know you do.
But when I hear the venom
and the contempt that comes out
of his mouth regarding you,
it just makes me sick.
I can't take it.
It's not right.
It's unfair.
Victor: Yeah. It sickens me as well. But I guess life ain't fair sometimes, is it? All we have to do is look at little cassie in there to know that's true.
Nikki: But you really think we're helping her situation by allowing nicholas to continue hating you?
Victor: Well, I'm hoping that sharon will come back.
Nikki: (Sighs)
more and more I think
that's a prayer that
is not going to be answered.
I really think we just need
to cut our losses.
Sharon is gone.
But we...
we can be there for cassie.
We can be the united family
that she needs.
But we have to tell nicholas
the truth.
Paul: It wasn't violent. I wasn't trying to hurt her.
Isabella: But you did. You must have. Otherwise she wouldn't have left town.
Paul: Look, it wasn't something chs wanted. It wasn't something that I wanted. And I certainldidn't go over there intending...
Isabella: So you're saying it just happened?
>>Paul: Isabella, I'm not trying to let myself off the hook. I know what I did, and it was wrong.
Paul: And it makes me sick
knowing that I am capable
of something like that.
So...
that's why I wanted
to see chris.
I wanted to apologize.
Isabella: And did you?
Paul: Yes.
Isabella: Then it's over.
Paul: Not for chris it isn'T.
Chris: We do have a lot to talk about.
Mhael: Uh, lynne... I'm sorry, but, uh... I'd like to have some time alone with christine.
Lynne: Only if that's what she wants.
Chris: I'll check in with you later, okay?
Lynne: Fine.
Michael: Man... I can't believe it. I can't tell you how wonderful this is.
Chris: It's good to see you, too.
Michael: You should have
called me.
I would have dropped everything.
I would have come to be with you
wherever you were.
Chris: I know. I just needed to be alone.
Michael: Right. I understand. I know what happened. I know what happened the night you left.
Chris: You mean with paul?
Michael: Yeah. Oh, I'd like to take my hands and wring his neck for taking advantage and manipulating.
Chris: How long have you known?
Michael: Long enough to g o over the shock. And, you know, you're back.
Chris: So then you're not angry?
Michael: No, with you?
Oh, no, sweetheart, no.
No, no, no, no, no.
How could I?
Uh...
you and paul
have a lot of history.
You have a lot
of unfinished business,
and I guess I should have known
from the way he'd been acting
that it was probably inevitable
that you two would have
some sort of encounter.
You know,
I guess what I'm trying to say
is I understand
if you were vulnerable
to him that night.
You know, a lot had happened.
Um, his kid
had just been baptized.
You and I had just had a fight.
I hated...
it kills me to think about it.
But I couldn't hold that
against you.
No, I just thank god
that the whole thing is over.

Olivia: Oh, god, wes. I'm so sorry.
Wes: Don't be.
Olivia: God, this whole thing is my fault. I'm responsible. I put you in this position.
Wes: Oh, no, liv,
you are not responsible.
And, listen, neither of us has
anything to feel guilty about.
Olivia: You came to m you wanted to talk. You just wanted to talk. You wanted a confidant. Not somebody to drag you...
Wes: Listen, remember. I told you. Drucilla--I already felt her slipping away. She didn't answer my marriage proposal. I figured that pretty much told me where things stood. Funny thing is, I never really took the time to think about myself. How did I feel? What did I want?
Olivia: I'm sorry. I'm not following you.
Wes: Look, liv, I am not
the type of man who would jump
into bed with the sister
of someone I'm crazy about.
It just... it wouldn't happen.
But it did.And then it dawned on me.
I'd already made my decision.
It didn't matter
what dru decides.
In my mind,
the relationship was over.
Dru: And that's how you really felt?
Wes: Well, maybe not consciously, but I guess I just hadn't sorted things out yet.
Olivia: Oh, and now youavave?
Wes: Definitely.
Olivia: How do you know you're not just rationalizing? How do you know you're not just trying to cover a broken heart?
Wes: Look, it is not easy letting go, but I'm telling you the truth.
Olivia: And you told dru all of this?
Wes: Well, I may have soft-pedaled it a bit, let her feel like she was making the call.
Olivia: Really? Maybe that was the truth.
Wes: But the point is,
it's over,
and I'm all right with that.
Olivia: How'd dru take it?
Wes: Dru, dru. Well, you know your sister, she likes things on her own terms. She didn't really want to accept it.
Olivia: Well, you two have been together for a really long time.
W: : Yeah, and I will always remember those years as some of the best of my life.
Olivia: People change.
Wes: Yeah. No, I think I made dru realize that if she's really honest with herself, it was over for her, too, maybe a long time ago.
Olivia: Because of neil?
Wes: Like it or not,
she made a choice.
And it doesn't mean I'm going
to turn my back on her.
I mean, if she and lily
ever need me, I will be there,
especially lily.
But as far as a love affair
thth your sister goes,
that's a memory.
It's like they say,
all good things
must come to an end.
Olivia: Are you sure this is what you really, really want?
Wes: I'm positive. And I have you to thank, olivia.
Olivia: Me?
Wes: Yes, you are the one who made me come to terms with what I was feeling subconsciously. Something about you. You're an amazing woman.
Olivia: I don't know what to say.
Wes: Speechless? Now that's a first. As much as I hate to, I think I'd better go.
Wes: You take care, dr. Winters.
Dru: There's a best part to all of this?
Neil: Once this project's up and running, dru, I want you to be involved.
Dru: Me?
Neil: Yeah, this is a cosmetics line for african-american women. Who better than you to represent? Look at you. You have a beautiful complexion.
Dru: Thank you, and whatwould you have me doing?
Neil: I want to use your fantastic, fabulous face in our print campaign. I want you to be part of this, baby.
Dru: You sure you're not just flattering me? Hoping to get me back into bed?
Neil: Well, not that I wouldn't love to do that, dru, but this is the real deal. Vicki and I want to get moving on this as soon as hananly possible. We want to know that you're on board with us.
Dru: Whoa! What about jabot?
Neil: I'm glad
you brought them up.
They haven't made
any firm offer, have they?
Like, you haven't signed
a contct?
Dru: No, no, but I'm meeting with jack and ash--
Neil: So that means that you're not committed.
Dru: Yeah. Yeah, I'm not committed. So you really want me?
Neil: Drucilla, baby, I would want you for this even if I didn't think you were the sexiest, most beautiful woman on the planet.
Dru: You know what, neil winters? You're exactly what the doctor ordered, especially today, especially now.
Victoria: I'm just saying that you need to lighten up on dad.
Nick: Why?
Victoria: Because it's the best thing for cassie right now.
Nick: No other reason?
Victoria: What other reason would there be?
Nick: Look, you want things to be nice for cassie, you keep dad away from me.
Victoria: You know I can't do that.
Nick: Whatever. Let's just don't talk about it anymore. It's making me mad, and I don't need that.
Victoria: You need your wife here, don't you? In spite of your differences, this must be really hard for you.
Nick: This isn't about me. Cassie needs her mother.
Victoria: It's about both of you. Do you have any idea where she might be?
Nick: No. Like I told mom,
she took out a bunch of cash
from the bank on the day
she left.
Makes it tough
to track her movements.
Victoria: Have you tried?
Nick: I haven't gotten detectives or anything like that, if that's what you mean.
Victoria: But you do want her to come back.
Nick: What are you getting at?
Victoria: Just wondering.
Nick: What?
Victoria: If a part of you
still thinks she might have
run off with diego.

Ready for turkey tuesday?
Victor: I just don't know what's the best thing.
Nikki: Well, the worst thing is for nicholas to go on hating you. The longer sharon is gone, the more he's going to blame you. It's a vicious cycle.
Victor: Suppose I go to him and tell him the truth. You want me to go tell him that his wife felt so empty that she came on to his father? If I tell him, it's going to set the stage for further conflict and problems. Neither he nor sharon will be the kind of parents they ought to be to their kids.
Nikki: Well,
I know you're not going
to agree with this either,
but I really wonder if sharon is
such a good influence on cassie.
Victor: Well, she's still cassie's mother, though.
Nikki: I know, but what kind of mother is that that just disappears? No phone calls, no communication at all to see how her kids are doing. I mean, why are we protecting somebody like that?
Victor: I don't want to protect sharon. It's that I want to protect the family. I want to protect noah and cassie.
Sharon: I know, but, victor, the reality is, sharon's gone. She has abandoned her family. There's no other way to look at it.
Victor: But, darling, her kids still need their mother.
Nikki: Well,
there are people around them
that can be their family.
We can be unified,
and we will never abandon them.
The more I think about it,
the more I'm convinced that
we just need to end this secret
and just let the chips fall.
Victor: Please, don'T. Please, don't do it now.
Nikki: Victor, we have to.
Victor: No, not now. Don't you understand how devastated he is right now? His little girl in there is fighting for her life. She may face a fate worse than death. If I tell my boy the truth now, it'll destroy him. I know it'll kill him.
Nick: I don't know, victoria. You know diego better than I do. Do you think they're off together somewhere?
Victoria: Well, obviously I don't know him as well as I thought I did, but, no, no, I don't think they are.
Nick: I don't think they are either, so let's drop it, all right?
Nick: I just wish sharon
would come home soon.
Victoria: You really need her here, don't you?
Nick: I will say that every little noise I hear, I hope it's sharon coming through the front door.
Victoria: I can't believe she could do this to you, to her children.
Nick: If she knew what was going on, she'd be here.
Victoria: She doesn't, and she isn'T.
Nick: Look, please, stop trashing sharon, all right?
Victoria: Seems like you're starting to soften up on her since she left.
Nick: I just realized how much pain she must have been in after dad tried--
Victoria: Oh, stop it. Just stop.
Nick: It takes a hell
of a lot to drive a woman
away from her kids.
That's all I'm saying.
Victoria: Well, don't expect me to start feeling sorry for her.
Nick: Maybe you should think about it.
Victoria: Nicholas...
Nick: What?
Victoria: Would you hate me if I went to the office for a little bit?
Nick: God, no, sis. Just go.
Victoria: There's some things I really need to check on.
Nick: Seriously, go. Just keep your cell on. I'll call you if there's any change.
Victoria: Okay. I love you.
Nick: I love you.
Nick: Dad! Why'd you have to ruin my life? God, sharon, where could you be? C" en it comes to haircolor,
Isabella: My god, paul.
What more does this woman want?
Paul: Oh,ooook, isabella. Please, don't blame chris. If you need to blame anyone, blame me.
Isabella: I'm just having a really, really difficult time with this.
Paul: Well, the whole thing is a disaster. I freely admit that.
Isabella: Are you telling me she can't let go? Even after you told her how sorry you were?
Paul: Isabella, what I did to chris, the emotional scars it caused, I mean, I don't know if she'll ever be able to forgive me.
Isabella:F f she's so messed up, why did she come back?
Paul: Because genoa city is her home. That hasn't changed.
Isabella: You still
feel responsible.
Paul: Isabella, i am responsible! You don't think I should be? I mean, I have been barely able to function since the night it happened.
Isabella: I know, I know. I just didn't know why.
Paul: You know, I thought that seeing chris and apologizing...
Isabella: You thought it would get rid of the demons. That's not gonna happen, paul. It's not gonna happen until you decide what's important to you. If it's ricky and me, if it's your own sanity, but you have to break the hold that this woman has over you, or she's going to destroy you. She's doing it already.
Chris: So how did you find out about it?
Michael: Find out?
Chris: About paul and me
sleeping together.
Michael: He didn't deny it.
Chris: No. Just answer the question, michael. I want to know who told you.
