Victoria: Okay to come in? You're not gonna throw anything at me, are ya? Okay, well... I see my attempt at levity really has you rolling in the aisles.

Nick: I'm not much in the mood for levity, sis.

Victoria: Well, nicholas, I'm sorry. I just don't know what to say.

Nick: Well, if you walk in and catch your dad kissing your wife, it pretty much leaves you speechless.

Victoria: I just have such a hard time believing that.

Nick: Are you doubting me?

Victoria: No, it's just that it's hard to believe.

Nick: Well, I saw 'em, and he admitted it.

Victoria: You and dad talked about this?

Nick: I talked about it. He talked around it, but make no mistake, I saw what I saw. And guess what else? Dad admitted that it was all his doing. (Doorbell rings)

Victor: What do you want?

Diego: Do you have a moment? Thank you. I know your time is very valuable.

Victor: Since you know that, get to the point. Don't waste it.

Diego: It's about victoria.

Victor: What about victoria?

Diego: Mr. Newman, your daughter and i could have a good life together. But not unless you and i can find a way to get along. Can I convince you to give me a second chance?

Brad: How do I feel about your mommy? That's a question I've been asking myself for days. And the truth is, mommy and daddy are very sad at the moment. One look at you and all that disappears. You see, something happened. And at the time it seemed very important. But gazing down at you, what could be more important than your happiness? Unfortunately, mommy and daddy's problems won't just disappear. Your mommy hurt me very much, and I hurt her, too. And then there's olivia.

Lily: Girl, you're really psyched about this valentine day's dance.

J.T.: Why do people think I'm only after one thing?

Lauren: Oh, against my better judgment, I am.

J.T.: Heh.

Lauren: Okay.

J.T.: Thank you.

Raul: Hey, boss lady. What's up?

Lauren: Hey, meet your new colleague.

Raul: J.T.?

Lauren: Yeah. Yeah, come on. Look, I'd better go over to the other store. Will you hold down the fort? All right, and, uh, play nice.

Lauren: Bye, J.T.

J.T.: Bye.

Victoria: Dad said this was all his doing? What does that mean?

Nick: He took responsibility. He said he was the one that crossed the line.

Victoria: Well, sharon must have led him on somehow.

Nick: She's a beautiful woman, and you know how dad is.

Victoria: Oh, come on! She's his daughter-in-law. I mean, dad would... oh, god. This whole thing just makes me sick.

Nick: Yeah, tell me about it. You know, dad trdd to explain it all away.

Victoria: That he kissed sharon? How did he explain that?

Nick: He claimed he was under the influence.

Victoria: He'd been drinking?

Nick: He took a couple of pain pills that sharon gave him.

Victoria: You know, she shouldn't be passing those things out.

Nick: Well, then he got so upset that he forgot about the pills and had a stiff drink.

Victoria: Booze and pills. That's just great. How stupid can you get? I mean, obviously he wasn't thinking.

Nick: Not with his head, anyway. You know what? I'm just over this. I can't talk about me or this anymore. What's going on with you?

Victoria: You know what I can't help thinking about? Mom. I mean, what happens if she finds out?

Nick: I talked to mom. She wanted to know why I was so upset at dad.

Victoria: You didn't tell her?

Nick: No, but it's weird. She has this feeling that this involves her in some way.

Victoria: Where would she get that idea?

Nick: I don't know, but maybe she should know what's going on.

Victoria: Nicholas, it would devastate her. And I can't imagine there being much hope for that marriage.

Nick: Well, maybe she should just cut her losses and run.

Victoria: You don't really feel that way?

Nick: Sis, they've only been married a couple of months, and things are this messed up already?

Victoria: They were so happy. I mean, how did things fall apart so quickly? That's a stupid question. If anyone should know the answer to that, I should.

Victor: So how are things between you and my daughter at t m moment?

Diego: They've been better.

Victor: She's upset with both of us, isn't she?

Diego: If you and I could find some way to make peace, don't you think that would help?

Victor: You've got a point. It might.

Lily: So let's hear it.

Colleen: Hear what?

Lily: This plan of yours. The one I'm "in on."

Colleen: Ha. Shh. (Turns up music) you still don't have a date for the dance, right?

Colleen: Now you do. I'm going to tell my granddad we're going together.

Colleen: Yeah, he thinks it's good for me.

Lily: Hanging out with goofy boys your own age?

Colleen: Talk about clueless. Anyway, we'll take the bus, we'll go to the park, and meet a special someone.

Lily: J.T.?

Colleen: Yes, and 'l'll go on from there.

Lily: Well, what if your granddad catches us?

Colleen: As long as I'm with you, it'll be cool. What do you think?

Lily: You're getting to be a pro at sneaking around.

Colleen: Well, I wouldn't have to if my parents would chill out.

Billy: Chill out about what? Oops. Am I interrupting anything?

Brad: I'm not sure how it happened. Olivia and i had always been friends. Then your mommy got sick, and liv and I grew closer. It's not an excuse. I realize that. I guess that's why I know, deep down, it would never work.

Brad: Olivia is a kind, caring, wonderful woman. But she's not the person your mommy is. We know how special she is. I don't know what the future holds, baby.

Victoria: I mean, he was willing to put it all on hold and risk his life in some stupid plan of revenge, not to mention he got dad involved. I mean, I just don't understand this, nicholas. I'm not sure I ever will,and I'm not sure I want to try.

John: Son, it'll only take a minute.

John: You know I've made it very clear how I feel about that subject. This has to do with colleen.

John: Look, I'm not sure of my plans yet for tomorrow night, so I need you to drive her to and from the school dance.

Billy: Actually, I was just upstairs with her and her friend. They're going together.

John: Well, you can drive them both.

Billy: I'm not sure how that'll fly. They're planning on taking the bus.

John: Not anymore. I don't want them unsupervised for one moment.

Billy: Dad, it's totally safe.

John: This isotot open for debate. Now I need you to drive them to the school dance. Now is that clear?

Billy: Well, what's the big deal?

John: Look, son, I wish I didn't have to be concerned about colleen, but I've learned the hard way. She cannot be trusted. And I want to make sure there is no encounter with J.T. Hellstrom.

Colleen: No one's gonna drive us. We're gonna take the bus. We'll go to the park, meet in our spot and we'll go on from there. See? It's perfect.

J.T.: Colleen, look, I don't know.

Colleen: Look, if we really want to be together, we'll find a way to make it work. We can't be apart on valentine's day. We just can'T.

Brad: Pregnant?

Ashley: Yeah, they ran a blood test in the E.R.

Brad: Then it's true?

Ashley: Yeah, we're gonna have a baby.

Brad: Oh, my god, ash. What about when you fell, and the chemo. Did that--

Ashley: No, I talked to a doctor and he said that there's nothing to be concerned about for me or the baby. You know, maybe I shouldn't have told you right now, but, brad, I know you think that this changes everything. I don't want you doing all the right things for the wrong reasons. That wouldn't be good for anybody.

Brad: You might have heard everything I said to abby rlier...

Ashley: I know that you have your regrets. I heard that.

Brad: I'm not talking about regrets. Ash, I love you. I'll always, always love you.

Ashley: Do you really mean that?

Victor: So you want to be able to tell victoria that I've let bygones be bygones?

Diego: You won't regret it.

Diego: You know, I have to wonder. Is it lonely in that foolproof little world of yours?

Victor: Guittierez, you seem to have a very short memory, and right now you're tempting fate. If I were you, I would leave right now.

Billy: Dad, I don't blame you for being concerned, but there's no way that J.T. Would be caught dead at a high school dance. Besides, when I was upstairs with colleen and her girlfriend, the jerk's name never even came up.

John: Billy, of course it didn'T. She's not gonna mention his name to you.

Billy: In other words, you're still expecting me to be their chauffeur.

John: Son, I told you I may be busy tomorrow night.

Billy: Well, what about me? I'm busy, too.

John: Doing what?

Billy: We've got a lead on a loft apartment. We're supposed to check it out tomorrow night.

John: Well, I'm afraid you're not gonna be able to make it.

Billy: Come on, dad, we can't put this off. We need a place to live.

John: Billy, I thought I made this clear. This is not negotiable.

Billy: I'm 18. You can'pull this.

John: And I am still your father. Now you will drive colleen to that dance, and you will bring her home afterwards, and that's final.

Colleen: You do want to be with me on valentine's day, don't you?

J.T.: Of course I want to be with you.

Colleen: Okay, so we won't be alone, but who cares about all those other kids, as long as we're together?

Ashley: Abby's asleep. Wow, what's all this?

Brad: Well, it's not gourmet, but you need to eat something. That's an order.

Ashley: Well, yeah. What'd you do, find an all-night florist?

Brad: No, I raided the arrangement in the dining room.

Victoria: I didn't think you'd have a problem with it.

Nick: I really want that guyout of our lives.

Victoria: I wish I could sort my feelings out better. I mean, I felt so completely in love, and then it just turned to dust. And now I wonder if I ever was really in love with him. I mean, maybe I was just trying to convince myself of something.

Nick: Look, you fell for him. You fell hard. But I just think those feelings may not have been as deep as you wanted to believe.

Victoria: Well, they certainly weren't for him. I mean, it was all, "we'll get back to our love affair, sweetheart, just as soon as I get some revenge." I mean, what's up with that?

Nick: Questions I can't answer. Only one guy can. Maybe you should talk to him.

Victoria: I know. I just wish I could be more sure of what I want to say.

Nick: Things might become clearer once you see him.

Victoria: I just don't want to cling to something that's not there. But I just can't forget my hopes. I mean, I thought this was the real thing this time.

Nick: It's hard to let go.

Victoria: I mean, do I give up? Or do I just adjust? I mean, are my expectations too high? Do I really want to risk being alone for the rest of my life? Because that's kind of where I'm headed.
