John: I would to a very thorough investigation before taking this step.

Carol Chen: I have, Mr. Silva.

Victor: John, when can you get me out of here?

John: About an hour.

Victor: Then what?

John: After the police continue this insanity and file charges, we'll have a bail hearing.

Carol Chen: I won't allow charges to be filed until Mr. Newman's prints have cleared.

John: You're joking.

Carol Chen: I am not.

John: Do you realize who this man is? Mr. Victor Newman is one of the most outstanding businessmen in the world. If there were outstanding businessmen in the world.

Carol Chen: Mr. Silva, are you saying the rules don't apply to him because he's rich and powerful?

You don't want to stay at your father's house?

Tricia: I don't feel safe. There's no escaping Mr. Newman.

Come to the station. We'll let the prosecutor take it from here. I have to run upstairs for a second.

Alex: Those two weren't serious, were they?

Malcolm: Alex, the two of them, they got a ton of history.

Alex: And now?

Malcolm: Now it's over.

Alex: What are you saying, Malcolm?

Malcolm: Neil broke things off with Olivia.

Neil: Hi. Coffee break?

Olivia: Tea.

Olivia: Nope.

Olivia: Whatever.

Neil: So how are you?

Olivia: Well I’m not doing too well, Neil.

Neil: Sorry.

Olivia: Are you?

Neil: We shouldn't do this. You're obviously upset.

Olivia: Don't I have a right to be? I want to know the truth. I want to know why you broke up with me.

Neil: I told you.

Olivia: Because you're getting in over your head.

Neil: You don't believe me?

Olivia: No. No, I don’t. If you don't give me the answers, I will get them somewhere else.

Neil: What does that mean?

Olivia: I went to see your brother.

Neil: Olivia, why would you bring Malcolm into this?

John: Of course my client isn't above the law but he's a high profile individual.

Carol Chen: Mr. Silva, you are wasting your time and mine. I take these charges very seriously.

John: You're doing this by the book.

Carol Chen: You’d better believe it.

Victor: John, don't argue with her. If they're not going to press charges, let's go.

John: We can't.

Victor: What do you mean we can't?

John: This is a stalling technique. Now that Miss Chen has arrested you, you will be processed and booked, and then she can hold you until the charges are filed.

Victor: How long will I be here?

John: At least overnight. Isn't that right, Carol?

Jack: With the holidays coming on, I have been inundated with catalogues. I throw most of them away but somehow this one jumped out at me.

Nikki: I remember toys like this.

Jack: So do I. I was eight years old. I had a wooden fire engine just like that. My favorite toy. I couldn't get enough of it.

Nikki: When you were eight.

Jack: I guess you have some idea where I’m going with this.

Nikki: Jack, the little boy who got our baby's heart, he's eight.

Jack: This catalogue made me think of him. I thought I would send him one.

Nikki: What's the question?

Jack: Do you think it's appropriate?

Nikki: Why wouldn't it be?

Jack: When you brought little Jack by so I could meet him, I promised myself I would stay in better touch with him and somehow I dropped the ball there.

Nikki: Jack, you've had a lot going on.

Jack: Then a gift showing up suddenly out of the blue.

Nikki: I will never forget the look on your face when you put your arms around that little boy. And when he told us that we were his guardian angels; we lost our little boy, but we were able to give the gift of life to another little boy. That's a miracle. And if you want to keep that bond of love by giving him this gift, you should do it. It'll mean so much to him.

Jack: You're real good for me, you know that?

Nikki: Well, I try.

Jack: You want me to put your name on the gift card?

Nikki: No, no. This is your idea. It should be your gift.

Jack: Why are you looking at me that way?

Nikki: No reason.

Jack: You sure?

Nikki: You're a very sweet man. Send the gift. I know he will love it.

Jack: I just want him to know I'm thinking about him. I care.

Nikki: He knows. Believe me, he knows. And this will be a good start to build more of a relationship.

Jack: I'll have it shipped today.

Victoria: Ryan, I don't want to put you on the spot.

Ryan: You're talking about our wedding. I'm supposed to be up on the altar with my guitar and a tux?

Victoria: Of course not. Record it.

Ryan: Professionally?

Victoria: Yeah, sure.

Ryan: We don't have much time.

Victoria: You can do it. I know you can. Come on. It'll make the ceremony even more special.

Ryan: In that case, I'll make it happen.

[Doorbell sounding]

Victoria: Hi.

Lauren: I am so sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner.

Victoria: I have been going crazy too. Family crisis.

Lauren: Sorry, anything I can do?

Victoria: Are you here about the dress?

Lauren: Yeah. I'm afraid I have some bad news.

Phyllis: Hey, what does a girl have to do to get your attention around here?

Jack: Depends on the girl.

Phyllis: You want a late lunch?

Jack: I have a meeting -- you know what? I might be able to get out of this meeting. Jennifer, can you call Dan Rutherford and see if we can delay our meeting -- he's on his way. Okay. That's all right. Yeah. Sorry, babe. Too late.

Phyllis: That's okay. Everything in here is for a little kid.

Jack: Yeah, yeah, some neat stuff in there, isn't it?

Phyllis: Yeah. Who you shopping for? Abby's too young for these toys. There aren't any other little children in your family. Is it a secret?

Jack: No, no. Actually I should have told you about this a long time ago.

Alex: So Neil called it quits?

Malcolm: According to Olivia, yeah.

Alex: She's certain there's another woman.

Malcolm: There wasn't lipstick on the collar or anything like that.

Alex: Neil didn't give her an explanation?

Malcolm: No, I guess not.

Alex: This must be driving Olivia nuts.

Malcolm: She was tripping. I can tell you that.

Alex: Why would he do this?

Malcolm: I don't know.

Alex: Has Neil said anything to you?

Malcolm: We haven't talked in a while.

Alex: It would seem strange Olivia would open up to you.

Malcolm: She was pretty upset. Maybe she needed to vent.

Alex: Still, I can't imagine your brother doing such a thing.

Malcolm: You know, Alex, my brother's no saint.

Alex: What do you mean?

Malcolm: I mean, we all have skeletons in our closet. I won't even go there. It's all in the past.

Alex: I'm sorry things didn't work out.

Malcolm: So am I. I was really thinking this could be the best thing for all of us.

Alex: What is Olivia going to do?

Malcolm: I don't really know. I mean, if she's smart, she would try to forget about Neil.

Alex: But you don't think that's likely.

Malcolm: Alex, she's in serious pain. But when she’s hot and bothered by something, she won't let it drop for anything.

Alex: What are you saying?

Malcolm: If there's another woman, you best believe Olivia will find out who it is.

John: Mr. Newman's been booked?

Carol Chen: We are running his fingerprints now.

John: He's not running from the law and you know it.

Victor: John, you're not going to convince her. Any way to counter this?

John: I'll go to the judge and get a writ of habeas corpus.

Victor: Do it now.

Paul: Hey, John, what's going on?

John: You're not going to believe it.

Paul: What's up?

Carol Chen: Who are you?

Paul: Paul Williams.

Carol Chen: You work for Mr. Newman?

Paul: That's right. Who are you?

Victor: This is Miss Chen. The Assistant D.A. I've been arrested.

Paul: You can't be serious.

Victor: I'm quite serious. What do you have for me?

Paul: I just came from the apartment.

Carol Chen: What were you doing there?

Paul: I overheard her talking to the police earlier.

Victor: What did she say?

Paul: They asked if she would like to go back to the apartment with them. At first she refused. Then she changed her mind suddenly and I followed her.

Carol Chen: Despite my order to halt surveillance?

Victor: What did you find?

Paul: I found Tricia in the workout room alone. I saw her stuffing something in her purse.

Victor: Did you see what it was?

Paul: No.

Victor: What about the police?

Paul: I tried to convince them to search her bag. Whatever is in there is damn important.

Victor: Important enough for Tricia Dennison to go back and get it.

Paul: Exactly.

Victor: Miss Chen, you are not convinced this allegation against me may not be true. You want to find out the truth, don't you? Why don't you go back to the apartment and find out what Tricia Dennison took from me. That way you could substantiate your claim or help my case.

Carol Chen: Perfect timing. Mr. Williams tells me Miss Dennison took something from Mr. Newman's apartment. I want to find out what it is.

Officer: I'm not sure that's possible.

Carol Chen: Why not?

Officer: Miss Dennison disappeared.

Matt: There she is. Tricia, you are a freakin' genius.

Tricia: I'm tired.

Matt: You should be on cloud nine. Accusing Victor Newman of rape. Did you see his face? He couldn't believe it.

Tricia: Do you think the charges will stick?

Matt: Yeah. I bet they will. You played it out beautifully, doll. Old Money Bags is going down. This time for real.

Olivia: Don't you dare raise your voice to me.

Neil: There was no reason to see my brother.

Olivia: Afraid your image will get tarnished? Your brother doesn't think you're perfect. None of us do.

Neil: It has nothing to do with it.

Olivia: Who does? Everything was going along great.

Neil: Until we made love.

Olivia: And that changed everything? I'm sorry, Neil. I'm sorry this is so uncomfortable for you. I can't walk away from this whole thing.

Neil: But you can.

Olivia: No, I can’t. You won't let me. None of this makes any sense. I mean, one minute you're into me. Next you're doing an about-face and break it off? The least you can do is tell me why. I need answers, Neil. What happened?

Neil: I'm sorry. What's worse, if only I’d waited, things might have worked out for us. Now you feeling as you do, it probably never will.

Phyllis: Wow. I had no idea you and Nikki came so close to having a child.

Jack: I'm sorry. I should have told you.

Phyllis: It must have been painful.

Jack: Well, the one good thing to come of it all is knowing that because our boy lost his life, another boy was given his life.

Phyllis: That's a beautiful thing, organ donation. It's something almost everyone can do. I'm sure it didn't stop the yearning in your heart.

Jack: That took a long time. But now the boy gives me a lot of comfort.

Phyllis: Right. Do you see him often?

Jack:  No, a couple of times. Once when he was a baby. Back in January, I was kind of in a bad way and Nikki brought him and his mother to see me.

Phyllis: In January? What was troubling you?

Jack: I don't know. I was feeling sorry for myself. I was lonely. This is before you and I got things --

Phyllis: I should hope so. So you're giving this boy a gift.

Jack: I haven't told you. He's eight years old and his parents named him Jack.

Phyllis: Wow.

Jack: Wow.

Phyllis: So it's been almost a year since you last saw him. What provoked you --?

Jack: I saw the catalogue, and it came to mind.

Phyllis: Just a coincidence?

Jack: I think about him all the time, actually. Look, I know where you're going with this. You're wrong. Sweetheart, you're dead wrong.

Carol Chen: hen you went to the elevator?

Officer: Miss Dennison is gone.

Paul: You checked her father's house?

Officer: She wasn't there.

Paul: She knows her allegations will not stand.

Carol Chen: Tricia was scared Mr. Newman would --

Paul: Isn't it obvious what's going on here?

Carol Chen: You weren't supposed to be in the apartment.

Paul: I have just as much a right --

Carol Chen: You barging in made her feel more threatened.

Paul: Why, because I work for Mr. Newman?

Carol Chen: Yes.

Paul: Why did she change her mind and decide to go to the apartment when that was the place she was allegedly traumatized?

Carol Chen: You don't have to answer that, officer.

Paul: Because she can’t.

Carol Chen: Mr. Williams, I'm warning you. Did you find evidence?

Officer: A torn dress and underwear.

Carol Chen: Were they taken to the lab for analysis?

Officer: Yes.

Carol Chen: What do they find?

Officer: They support Miss Tricia’s version.

Olivia: You screwed up, Neil. What I don't know is why. I need to know who or what broke us up.

Neil: Hey, Liv, you might --

Alex: We need to talk.

Neil: Alex, what are you doing here? What's wrong?

Alex: As if you don't know.

Neil: Let's go on the patio.

Alex: Neil, what the hell were you thinking?

Neil: What are you talking about?

Alex: Breaking up with Olivia.

Neil: What --

Alex: Malcolm told me and now he wonders and according to Malcolm, Olivia will find out what it is. Why did you have to break up with the woman in the first place?

Neil: I think you know the answer to that.

Lauren: I know you had your heart set on a custom made gown. If we worked around the clock with fittings, it just wouldn't be ready in time.

Ryan: So what now?

Lauren: We have a fine bridal department at Fenmore’s.

Victoria: Yeah, of course, you know what? I'll stop by and take a look around, try some stuff on.

Lauren: That won't be necessary.

Victoria: You didn’t.

Lauren: I did. The bridal department is coming to you. You ready?

Ryan: Ready when you are.

Victoria: No. You go.

Lauren: You're not even married and she's ordering you --

Ryan: We're not even married and she's ordering me around.

Lauren: You better get used to that.

John: He won't give us a writ until your prints are cleared.

Victor: How long will that be?

John: He's given Miss Chen twenty-four hours.

Paul: A full day?

Carol Chen: Mr. Silva, the evidence against your client is mounting.

John: What evidence?

Victor: Analysis of my fingernail scrapings and Tricia Dennison’s dress.

John: That supports her claim?

Victor: Yes.

John: How?

Victor: That's what we're going to find out.

Paul: To top it off, she's missing now.

John: Doesn't that tell the police something?

Victor: Let me make one thing perfectly clear right now. I want results. I'm sick and tired of this, okay? Paul, you try to locate Tricia Dennison. Perhaps we're lucky and she left a paper trail behind. While you're at it, look at the surveillance tapes. I think the evidence on that will clear me.

John: What surveillance tapes?

Matt: One question, doll, what are we doing here? Wouldn't it be better to get the hell out of Dodge?

Tricia: I'm waiting until it starts.

Matt: You could go after the rest of the Newmans. Why press your luck? You cut off the head of the snake, the rest of the body dies.

Tricia: Maybe I shouldn't run. My case would be stronger if I testified.

Matt: I don't know about that. Pretty much faked everyone out. You piled up a mountain of evidence. Why take a chance? You've got him right where you want him, plus you have a ton of cash. I say let's start a new life.

Tricia: New life?

Phyllis: You're a mind-reader now.

Jack: No. I can see the wheels turning in that beautiful head of yours.

Phyllis: That's a bad thing?

Jack: I don't want you to get the wrong impression.

Phyllis: Like what?

Jack: That I am somehow reaching out to this boy because of our situation, that I’m connecting somehow.

Phyllis: I have no problem if you want to have a relationship with this boy. I think it's beautiful. I just --

Jack: Wait, wait. Stop, stop. I don't want you to think I’m hiding bitterness and regret. I'm not. I have been very honest with you where my heart is. I'm fine where things are with us. I'm more than fine. I am a very happy man. And I am very grateful for what we have. I am so sorry if I've made you question that in talking about this.

Phyllis: I love you. I love you more than you could possibly know.

Jack: That's my appointment.

Phyllis: Okay.

Jack: You all right?

Phyllis: Mmm-hmm. I'm fine. I'm fine.

Alex: What are you implying, Neil?

Neil: I think you know, Alex.

Alex: Nothing happened between us.

Neil: Are you forgetting --?

Alex: That was one kiss, and now you're making matters worse.

Neil: Breaking things off.

Alex: It could have worked. You care about each other.

Neil: The reason I got involved with Olivia in the first place was to forget about you. As soon as that became clear, I had to break it off with her.

Alex: You didn't think about the consequences.

Neil: Hold on a second. I did. I did think about the consequences. For Olivia’s sake, but she is an amazing lady, and I couldn't string her along like that.

Alex: You had no choice.

Neil: That's right. Now do you understand?

Alex: Neil, how did we ever get in this position?

Victor: John, you knew I installed a surveillance system in my apartment when Diane Jenkins was living there.

John: Which you reactivated when Tricia moved in.

Victor: Is there a problem with that?

John: The video portions are probably admissible.

Victor: What about the audio portions?

John: That's not so cut and dried.

Victor: Let's deal with that later. I want you and Paul to look at the surveillance tapes and you will see that not only did I not make any advances to Tricia Dennison, she came on to me.

John: What about the physical evidence?

Victor: I have no idea where that came from. I did nothing to her, nothing.

Ready, Mr. Newman?

Victor: Ready for what?

Taking you to a holding cell as soon as we impound your personal effects.

Victor: All right. John, you and Paul phone my family before it gets on the news, all right?

John: Of course. What happened with the phone call?

Paul: I contacted my credit card source. Tricia was just at the bank. She closed all her accounts and took everything in cash.

John: No paper trail.

Paul: The woman doesn't plan to stick around.

John: Okay. I have to contact Victor's family.

Paul: I'm going to check those tapes. There has to be proof in there somewhere.

John: Glad you're looking at those first. We have to find out for certain what we're up against.

Paul: All right. Talk to you soon.

Matt: What is it, Tricia? What's wrong?

Tricia: Today's paper.

Matt: Nothing on Newman yet.

Tricia: No. But there's an article on Ryan and Victoria.

Matt: So what about them?

Tricia: They're getting married.

Matt: You already knew that. You saw the announcement.

Tricia: Yeah, but I didn’t know it was so soon.

Matt: So what if they're getting hitched. It doesn't change anything, does it? Does it?
