[Doorbell sounding]
Nikki: Good morning. Am I too early?
Victor: What are you doing here?
Nikki: I was hoping you would have an update on Nicholas and Sharon.
Victor: He came by last night and needed to talk.
Nikki: I'm glad he reached out to you. Are you all right?
Victor: I don't know. I have a headache and I'm dizzy.
Nikki: Are you coming down with something?
Victor: I don't know.
Nikki: Can I get you anything, aspirin?
Nicholas: No thanks.
Nikki: Are you sure?
Victor: I'm fine.
Nikki: All right. Well, I'll go. I'll see you later.
Victor: Okay.
Nikki: Oh, one other reason I stopped by, I want to make sure Tricia agreed to move out, right?
Victor: Mmm-hmm, she did.
Nikki: Thank God that chapter is over. You feel better.
Dr. Burns: Hello, Tricia. How are you this morning? Tricia, what's wrong?
Tricia: I don't think I can talk about it.
Dr. Burns: You're obviously very upset.
Tricia: I never thought -- I mean, he said that he wanted to help me get better.
Dr. Burns: Are you talking about Mr. Newman? Has he been putting more pressure on you to change therapists? Tricia, talk to me. Tell me what's happened.
Tricia: He raped me. Victor raped me.
Nicholas: Good morning. How's my girl?
Sharon: What's all this?
Nicholas: These are your favorite muffins from that place on Delancey. I got you these too.
Sharon: Thank you. They're lovely.
Dr. Thompson: I have some good news for you. Sharon, your release papers will be ready shortly.
Nicholas: Great, great. I tell you what; I'll run out to the ranch to get you a fresh set of clothes.
Dr. Thompson: Nicholas, before you go, there's something you and your wife need to discuss.
Sharon: What is it?
Dr. Thompson: This is very difficult, but I need to know what you'll want done with your child's body.
Neil: Thanks a lot. I appreciate that. Ryan, my man, who says breakfast meetings aren't productive? Is there nothing else we need to discuss?
Ryan: I have to get to the office.
Neil: I doubt Nick will be coming in today.
Ryan: You heard about Sharon losing the baby?
Neil: What a tragedy.
Ryan: We're pretty torn up about it.
Neil: I'm going to send flowers, let them know they're in my thoughts. Any idea how this is going to affect your wedding plans?
Ryan: Not really. Everything is up in the air right now.
Neil: You let me know if there's anything I can do.
Ryan: Olivia, good to see you.
Olivia: Good to see you too.
Ryan: What was that all about?
Neil: I just broke things off with Olivia.
Ryan: Wait, wait, wait. You just -- I mean, I knew you two had spent a little more time together, but I didn't realize things had gotten serious.
Neil: We were headed in that direction until I ended it. I'm sure you already know why.
Jill: Oh, God, I can't believe what we've done.
Sean: I can't believe we made love again and again and again.
Jill: And we were in our office all night.
Sean: Please tell me you aren't having second thoughts about what we've just done.
Jack: Do you always travel with this much equipment? This is my office. I told your mommy I would bring you here and she could pick you up. I'm going to put you in your playpen so you can watch Uncle Jack do his stuff. Look. I have a phone call for you. Hey, come on in. There you go. You okay?
Nikki: Well, I see you have company.
Jack: Yes, Abby, Nik; Nik, Abby.
Nikki: Brad and Ashley’s little girl?
Jack: Phyllis and I watched her last night while they had a night on the town.
Nikki: That was a call beyond duty.
Jack: What are favorite uncles for? Isn't she beautiful?
Nikki: She is gorgeous.
Jack: Hey, what is it? What's wrong?
Nikki: Oh, Jack, I have bad news. Nick and Sharon lost the baby.
Jack: Oh, God. Oh, God.
Ashley: Were you expecting somebody or can an old friend join you?
Olivia: Ashley, what a wonderful surprise. It is so good to see you. So how have you been?
Ashley: Amazing. You're not going to believe this but Brad and I worked out all our problems. Life is good again. I have to correct that, life is fabulous again.
Olivia: I'm so happy for you, and for Brad too.
Ashley: What about you? Are you and Neil getting closer and closer?
Olivia: Not exactly.
Ashley: Did you hit a bump in the road?
Olivia: It's more than a little bump.
Ashley: Oh, Liv, what happened?
Olivia: What Neil and I had, it's over -- really I shouldn't say it's over because it never really was.
Ryan: What is it I'm supposed to know, Neil?
Neil: The reason I broke up with Liv. Remember how hard I got on your case? I was in denial to my feelings for Alex. I wound up hurting innocent people.
Ryan: Talking about Olivia.
Neil: If I could have worked through this whole Alex stuff.
Ryan: You don't think you can start over?
Neil: Start over? Did you see Olivia just now? She was mad. Did it look like she wants to be my friend? I'm sorry. I shouldn't be taking this out on you of all people.
Ryan: Neil, I still think you're being too hard on yourself.
Neil: No, I’m not. I'm the bad guy here. Alex hasn't done anything wrong.
Ryan: She hasn't been honest with Malcolm.
Neil: She's in love with my brother. There's no doubt in my mind she's committed to that relationship.
Ryan: So Olivia has no idea why you broke it off.
Neil: No. The thought occurred to her there was another woman.
Ryan: How did you handle that?
Neil: I told her I wasn't having an affair, which she seemed to accept. Ryan, I can only hope that Olivia forgives me in time. Right now I wouldn't hold my breath.
[Knock on door]
Victor: Come in.
Paul: I got here as soon as I could. What's up?
Victor: Yes, Paul, thank you. I decided to move Tricia Dennison from my apartment to another apartment in Newman Towers. I want you to install the surveillance system immediately. You can do that while she's in therapy.
Paul: All right. I'll get right on it. Do you mind telling me why you want her moving out so quickly?
Victor: Let's just say she behaved inappropriately. And I have to stop all of that before it gets out of hand.
[Phone ringing]
Dr. Burns: Yes. Thank you. Police are here.
Tricia: I wished you hadn't called them.
Dr. Burns: After what you told me? I have no choice and neither do you. This has to be reported. Come in, officer.
Detective Joyner: I received a report for an assault. Who called?
Dr. Burns: I did, on behalf of my patient, Tricia Dennison.
Detective Joyner: What happened?
Dr. Burns: You want me to tell them for you? Tricia has lived under Victor Newman’s roof for some time now as a guest. Last night he raped her.
Detective Joyner: You're talking about "the" Victor Newman?
Dr. Burns: Yes.
Detective Joyner: We will need to hear the whole story from Miss Dennison.
Dr. Burns: Tricia, you must do this for your own sake. I know you're frightened.
Tricia: Victor threatened me. He told me not to say anything and now he did.*
Detective Joyner: We won't let this man harm you. If necessary, we will place you under protective custody.
Tricia: He'll find a way to get to me. I know he will.
Detective Joyner: Start from the beginning. Tell us what happened last night between you and Mr. Newman.
Sean: So do I get an answer now? Are you having second thoughts?
Jill: About last night?
Sean: About you and me kissing and making up.
Jill: Is that what we've done here? Reconciled?
Sean: I prefer to think of it as Jill Abbott coming to her senses.
Jill: On my sofa in my office?
Sean: Behind locked doors with a man who finds you incredibly desirable.
Jill: I should be having second thoughts, about 50,000 of them.
Sean: But you're not.
Jill: No, because I’m so happy. I feel so alive. It's stupid to worry about things you can't control.
Sean: Isn't that what I have been telling you all along?
Jill: Are you saying we could have avoided this if I listened to you in the first place?
Sean: You had to find it out for yourself. We're back together and that's all that matters.
Paul: What does that mean, Tricia was acting inappropriately?
Victor: She came on to me last night.
Paul: Oh, I see.
Victor: She's a very attractive lady, very dangerous. But I don't trust her. I know she's trouble. I have to get her out of the apartment.
Paul: You want her in the same building?
Victor: I want to keep an eye on her. I want you to install a surveillance system right away.
Detective Joyner: Mr. Newman said you would be moving out in the morning, how did you react?
Tricia: I was a little thrown. He came completely out of the blue.
Detective Joyner: Did you ask him why he was doing this?
Tricia: He said it was best for me that I be more independent.
Detective Joyner: Then what happened?
Tricia: He, um, got really tired, started to go upstairs. I asked him if I could just walk up with him to make sure that he was okay. I'm not supposed to go upstairs. But he didn't say no.
Dr. Burns: Take your time, Tricia.
Tricia: Then when we got to his bedroom, I turned to go and he asked me to stay. He said that he didn't want me to feel rejected because he was having me move out. But if I had my own place, it would raise fewer questions in others' minds.
Detective Joyner: Did you ask him what he meant by that?
Tricia: He said he let me move in because he wanted to help me get better. But lately his feelings toward me had changed.
Detective Joyner: Why did he think that?
Tricia: Because of what I told him lately. I told him that I bonded with him stronger. That it was a bond based on trust and friendship. You know what I mean. He had this look in his eyes. I didn't know what to do.
Detective Joyner: What happened next?
Tricia: I tried to get away. He grabbed me by my wrists and started kissing me. And I said, Victor, stop it. He was kissing me and ripping off my clothes.
Ryan: I will hold down the fort until you get back.
Neil: Thanks. Ryan thanks for listening.
Ryan: Any time, buddy.
Olivia: Why would Neil string me along like this?
Ashley: He's one of the nicest people. He wouldn't do this. This must be shocking for you.
Olivia: I don't understand it. If I had been smothering him, if I was pushing for some sort of commitment. No, I wasn't making any demands on him. I wish I could walk away from the whole thing.
Ashley: But you can’t.
Olivia: I just need some answers.
Ashley: Of course you do. You've wanted this for a long time.
Olivia: It felt so right. Especially making love for the first time. It happened sooner than we thought. It didn't happen just out of the blue.
Ashley: Did he give you an explanation?
Olivia: Things were going too quickly for him. If that was the case, we could have just slowed down. He wanted us just to be friends. I can't do that now.
Ashley: God. I wish there was something I could do.
Olivia: Yeah, well, so do I. But short of Neil getting his act together --
Ashley: Sweetie, I know how much you care for him. I also know he's a good man. He is, Liv, you know he didn't want to hurt you, which tells me he did what he did because he felt he had no choice. Why that would be, I have no idea. Do you?
Alex: What is on your mind?
Malcolm: I was thinking about Olivia.
Alex: What has she done now?
Malcolm: Nothing, nothing. Things have been civil between us.
Alex: Do you think it's too good to last?
Malcolm: The way things are lovey-dovey with her and my brother, who knows.
Alex: Things are that serious?
Malcolm: It has me thinking. Maybe you and I should invite them over for dinner or something. It might make things better for everybody, especially my son.
Alex: That's up to you. Actually, you know what? I have been doing a little thinking too.
Malcolm: Oh, yeah? About what?
Alex: My mom. I'd like to fly her here for Christmas. After all, we're getting married. It's high time the two of you guys met.
Malcolm: Baby, I would love that. That would be a great idea. Meeting moms, that's risky. What if she doesn't like your taste in men?
Alex: Oh, please, anyone I love she'll love. That means you have no reason to worry.
Malcolm: Come here.
Nicholas: Why don't we talk about this outside?
Sharon: No. Nick, I'm the mother, I have to be involved in this decision.
Nicholas: I was just trying to spare you --
Sharon: I don't want to be spared, okay? This is my child. This is my little girl.
Dr. Thompson: The options are cremation or burial.
Nicholas: Burial?
Dr. Thompson: I'll alert the funeral home. They're going to want to know if you'd like a funeral service.
Sharon: I want to think about that.
Dr. Thompson: I'll make the necessary arrangements and get your release papers.
Nicholas: Look, I wasn't trying to cut you out of that decision.
Sharon: When the doctor asked about the service, you almost said something. You don't want to have a funeral at all, do you?
Nicholas: No, sweetheart, it's not that. I didn't say anything because I didn't know what would be appropriate.
Sharon: And there's nothing more to it.
Nicholas: I think you and I both want the same thing here, and that is to make peace with what happened.
Sharon: I don't think I will ever be able to make peace with what happened. I just don't think that that's possible.
Nicholas: I want so bad to take away this pain you're feeling. I love you so much. And I’ll do whatever it takes to help you get through this. I don't care what it is. All you have to do is ask.
Detective Joyner: She’ll need to be examined.
Dr. Burns: Yes. Tricia, I want you to go with my nurse to our medical facility. We have doctors there, female doctors who are trained to take care of cases like these. I want to look you over, make sure you're okay, as well as collect evidence for the police.
Tricia: Oh, God.
Dr. Burns: I know. I know it's terribly upsetting. You understand why it's necessary, don't you?
Tricia: What exactly are they going to do?
Dr. Burns: Well, you'll be given a complete gynecological exam so the doctor can create a rape kit. She'll check for abrasions, signs of force. We will take photographs of your bruises and scrapings from under your nails.
Dr. Burns: You're all right with this?
Tricia: Yeah. Let's just get it over with.
Dr. Burns: My nurse is just outside. Just tell her what you want, okay?
Miss Dennison.
Dr. Burns: You're skeptical.
Detective Joyner: We are talking about Victor Newman.
Dr. Burns: You don't think my patient is true? I can verify a lot of what she's told you. Not only have I been in contact with Tricia, I have had a good deal of contact with Victor Newman. That man has injected himself into Tricia’s life and therapy in a most inappropriate way.
Detective Joyner: Inappropriate how?
Dr. Burns: Just yesterday she was telling me he was looking at her in a way that made her feel uncomfortable. I advised her to get out of that apartment. I wished I took stronger action. What I do know, officer, Tricia Dennison’s accusations should be given very, very serious consideration.
Malcolm: Are we going to make it happen, talk to Mom? What about your pops? Hmm? You want to call him too?
Alex: No. That is not an option.
Malcolm: Things are still strained between you two, huh?
Alex: Yeah. Let's say a family reunion is not in the cards.
Malcolm: Sweetheart, wait a minute. Since we're getting married, don't you think now would be the perfect time to try to make peace with your father?
Alex: You know, maybe you should think about doing the same thing.
Malcolm: Come again?
Alex: I know you have issues with your mom.
Malcolm: How did this get turned around on me?
Alex: Are you saying I’m wrong?
Malcolm: Baby, I think we should stick to making things better between you and your father.
Alex: Why are you pushing this?
Malcolm: I know what you told me. I know it had a huge impact on you.
Alex: Talking about my fear of commitment.
Malcolm: Baby, it almost broke us up once. I'm not going to say I’m not scared it will happen again.
Alex: Stop, stop. I told you I’m working on it. Right now I need to take a deposition.
Malcolm: You and a deposition. Okay, okay. I lose. I lose. You go be the hotshot attorney. But I'm going to be a man's man. I'm going to stay right here in the home and wait for the love nest to be delivered.
Alex: You do that.
Malcolm: Bye, baby.
Olivia: I don't have a clue what's going on in Neil’s head. I'm convinced there's a reason why he broke up with me so suddenly.
Ashley: What do you think it is?
Olivia: My first thought is it was another woman.
Ashley: Did you ask him about that?
Olivia: He denies it but I’m not so sure. I shouldn't be obsessing on this. Why would he do something like that to me? Why did you do this to me?
Sean: So, pretty lady, I have a question for you.
Jill: The answer is yes.
Sean: I love seeing you this way.
Jill: I love feeling this way. Thank you. Thank you for breaking through my defenses.
Sean: For future reference, please let me know what I did to get through.
Jill: It's not what you did but who you are.
Sean: You lost me.
Jill: When I was on my trip, I thought of you a lot. I tried to push you out of my head and I wouldn't have to miss you so much.
Sean: When you came back?
Jill: I tried to do the same thing. Even then I think it was beginning to dawn on me.
Sean: What?
Jill: You turn me on more than anyone has in a long time. Not just sexually. I love being with you. I love your spontaneity. So this may not last, but it's like you say, nobody can predict the future. I am going to enjoy everything I can right now. I'm going to do that from now on.
Sean: Wow.
Jill: You approve?
Sean: You want me to tell you how much?
Jill: I want you to show me how much.
Sean: Right here, right now?
Jill: The door is closed. There's nothing to stop us. Unless, of course, you think you can't keep up with me.
Sean: Be gentle with me. I'm not as young as I used to be.
[Doorbell sounding]
Malcolm: Just a second. I'll be right there, fellas. Man, I didn't think you guys were gonna make it. Olivia.
Olivia: Hi, Malcolm.
Malcolm: Hello. What are you doing here?
Olivia: Nate left his favorite sweatshirt here.
Malcolm: Come in.
Olivia: Thank you.
Malcolm: You know, Olivia, you really didn't have to make a special trip. I was planning on swinging by with this.
Olivia: That's all right. I was in the neighborhood and I thought I would see if you left for work yet. Thanks.
Malcolm: You're welcome. So how's it going?
Olivia: How's what going?
Malcolm: Life, work, you and Neil.
Olivia: I was wondering how long it would take for you to get around with that. You're probably thrilled what your brother did to me.
Malcolm: Slow down. I don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Olivia: You're just waiting to turn the screw. Why don't you just knock yourself out?
Jack: Oh, Nik, I can see this is tearing you apart.
Nikki: Sharon is devastated.
Jack: As I'm sure Nicholas is too.
Nikki: He doesn't want to admit it. I know he talked to Victor last night. The reality is you and I both know this is something you just have to get through. I can't think how long I carried around that empty hole in my heart after we lost our baby.
Jack: I remember.
Nikki: But that is in the past and behind us, right?
Jack: Right, right.
Nikki: Seeing you with Ashley’s little one, I’m so happy for you. So many positive things going on in your life right now.
Jack: Yeah, I’m truly a blessed man.
Nikki: You are. You found your soul mate. Pretty soon you're going to be married, and your dream of having your child is about to happen, Jack.
Nicholas: Feeling better?
Sharon: I'll be glad to finally get out of here.
Nicholas: I know. I'll run home and get your clothes. We're going to make it through this. I promise you that.
Dr. Thompson: Sorry to intrude. Sharon, your release papers are ready now.
Nicholas: Okay. I'll be back in a flash.
Dr. Thompson: It appears you're allowing your husband to reach out to you. I'm happy to see that.
Sharon: Dr. Thompson, did you order that paternity test?
Dr. Thompson: Sharon, you know how I feel. I still believe it would be best to let this whole matter drop. But yes, I've gone along with your wish to know who the father of your child was.
Paul: No, that's fine. You just let me know the minute the new system is in place. All right, thank you, Fred. That's it, Victor. The cameras should be up and running within the hour.
Victor: Thank you, Paul. I realize you may not see the wisdom of my action. Given what's happened it's the only appropriate action I can take. [Knock on door]
Victor: Come in.
Butler: Excuse me, Mr. Newman, there's a police detective here to see you.
Victor: Did he say what he wanted?
Butler: No, sir.
Victor: All right. Send him in.
Butler: Yes, sir.
Detective Joyner: I'm Detective Joyner. I would like you to come down to the station. I need to ask you some questions.
Victor: You need to ask me some questions concerning what?
Detective Joyner: Your relationship with Tricia Dennison.
Victor: Why is my relationship with Tricia Dennison any of your business?
Detective Joyner: Miss Dennison has made allegations against you.
Victor: What kind of allegations has she made?
Detective Joyner: She's accused you of raping her at your apartment last night.
Victor: Are you serious? This is absurd. Nothing like that happened.
Detective Joyner: Sir, will you come down to the station with me? Or do I need to get a warrant?
Paul: You want me to call in John Silva?
Victor: No, you don't call in John Silva. I'll come down with you. I can't believe this. This is absurd. This woman is insane. I have to stop her right now. Let's go.
