Victor: You say you're moving out?
Tricia: I can't stay in this apartment one more night.
Victor: It was your idea to move in here.
Tricia: You made me feel I could count on your support.
Victor: You feel deceived?
Tricia: You watch me like a hawk. You set up that run-in with Larry Warton to entrap me.
Victor: Why would I want to entrap you?
Tricia: I won't stick around to find out.
Victor: Hold on for one second. Let me ask you something. If you say you're doing everything in your power to make strides, I would think you would welcome my scrutiny. Obviously, that's not the case. What are you afraid that I'll find out?
Traci: We're back together, honey. This difficult time is over. It's finally over. We can be a family again.
Colleen: Just like that.
Steve: We were close to resolving things when your mother left New York. We only needed to go a little further.
Brad: When did all of this happen?
Traci: Last night. Steve and I realized we had a decision to make, and we'd put it off long enough.
Steve: Traci called and the rest is history.
Brad: Congratulations to both of you.
Steve: Thank you.
Traci: Colleen, you're pretty quiet.
Colleen: How did you get Mom to forgive you? Did you promise her you would never cheat on her again?
Steve: That was part of it, yes. I made a very solemn pledge to your mother. I'll make the same one to you. Colleen, nothing means more to me than my family.
Traci: Honey, I know that this is pretty confusing. I know that things are changing really fast. But listen to me. Don't worry. Things will be back to normal before you'll even know it.
Jack: What is it you're afraid you'll do?
Ashley: Oh, nothing. I'm just babbling.
Jack: About some pretty heavy stuff. Does this have something to do with Newman?
Ashley: Why, would you stop --?
Jack: My God, you weren't kidding. You are looking for answers in all the wrong places. You're upset about Brad, at least I got to you before you turned to the guy. Oh, God, please tell me I got to you before you turned to the guy.
Ashley: Oh, God, he stopped by last night.
Jack: He was in this building? Lucky I didn't know. What did the moustache want? There's only one reason he sniffs around here. He still has the hots for you, and you know it.
Katherine: All right. How is everything coming in here?
Esther: Fine, Mrs. C. When are the guests coming?
Katherine: Soon.
Esther: I have to take out the food. Will you two finish the rest of the chores? I want them to be close together when we make the teddy bears.
Lauren: Well, you're certainly in high gear today.
Katherine: Over the top. I understand we had a visitor last evening.
Lauren: Yes. I know that I should have run it by you first. It was a special circumstance. Anyway she's left now. I hope you don't mind.
Katherine: No, not at all. I'm glad you make yourself feel right at home. Any chance of knowing who that guest might have been?
Lauren: I'd rather not get into that right now.
Katherine: Lauren, you are always so secretive.
Lauren: Am I?
Katherine: But that is what I like about you. Never a dull moment. [Doorbell sounding] I will get that. Well, hello. Come in, come in please. Do you know Lauren Fenmore?
No, I haven't met her. I heard so much about you.
Lauren: Is that good or bad?
Judging from the looks of you, you're Sharon?
Sharon: This is my mom, Doris, and my daughter Cassie.
Lauren: Hi. Very nice to meet you. Katherine tells me this is your third child?
Sharon: Yeah. We have a five-year-old. He has a play date.
Cassie: Noah wanted to come. I told him he couldn't.
Lauren: That's right, Cassie. It's girls only.
*Special delivery.
Malcolm: You're putting me on, right?
Alex: No, Malcolm.
Malcolm: You're going to be working with Michael Baldwin?
Alex: He offered me a job with his firm and I accepted.
Malcolm: This is unbelievable.
Alex: From what I’ve seen he's a total professional and his conduct has been above reproach.
Malcolm: It doesn't mean you have to work with the guy.
Alex: We've been talking for a while. He practices the kind of law I find interesting. His caseload has been overwhelming with Christine out of the country indefinitely.
Malcolm: When did this go down?
Alex: Yesterday. When I was deciding what to do about the offer at Newman, we were talking and he told me how to function at his firm, including pro bono work. It clicked for me and we made a deal right then and there.
Malcolm: Have you looked at this man's track record?
Alex: Yeah.
Malcolm: Have you talked to his clients?
Alex: Yes, and his former employers. He's not a perfect human being but he's a fine lawyer and attracts very interesting cases.
Malcolm: No. No, Alex, no. I don't like this. I don't like it at all.
Tricia: There you go again putting me under your microscope.
Victor: I asked a very simple question.
Tricia: It's a loaded question. I'm worried about a lot of things.
Victor: What are you worried about?
Tricia: I'm trying to get better. I have a long road ahead of me. You aren't making it any easier. That's why I'm moving out.
Victor: Look at me. Why don't you look at me? I can't hold you against your own will. But if I were you, I would think very carefully before I did anything
Tricia: You know what? I've made up my mind. I'm going to pack my bags and be out of here by the end of the day.
Cassie: Who sent all this stuff?
Katherine: Well, I'm not sure. Oh, it's from Nikki. Sharon, I'll let you do the honors.
Sharon: It's from Nikki. “Dear Sharon, I'm sorry I couldn't attend your baby shower. You know my heart is with you. Unfortunately, my body is back in Brazil. Things have gotten a little complicated here. I'm going up into the Amazon rain forest to see if I can go around the middleman and make a deal with the people who produce the ingredient I'm after. I'm not sure when I'll be home. Until then, give everyone my love and especially you and your baby. Love, Nikki.”
Cassie: I wish she could be here.
Sharon: Me too, sweetie. Me too.
Katherine: We're going to put it right here on top. And you can open it.
Brad: I know this is kind of tough for you right now. Take it from us grown-ups. Some day you will look back on all of this and you will see it's not as bad as you thought.
Steve: And you will be glad, it will work out.
Traci: Don't be angry.
Colleen: Who said I am?
Brad: I've seen you when you ain't angry, and this isn't it.
Colleen: Sorry I don't look right to you.
Brad: I didn't mean that.
Steve: We're going back to New York.
Traci: Starting high school.
Steve: You can hang out with your buds at the dance academy.
Brad: Sounds like there's a lot to look forward to back home.
Colleen: Is there?
Traci: Honey, it's going to be just fine. It is, you'll see. We're going to be a family again.
Steve: I'm not sure how that went.
Traci: I didn't expect her to jump up and down with joy.
Brad: She needs time. I'm sure once she's in her old surroundings, she will feel better about things.
Steve: From your lips to the big guy's ears. I'm going to see if she's ready to talk.
Traci: Steve.
Alex: Malcolm, this is my decision.
Malcolm: Alex, baby, this is really serious. Have you thought what you're getting yourself into?
Alex: I’ve thought about it --
Malcolm: You haven't. He's greedy and full of himself.
Alex: Will you calm down and look at the situation rationally? He's in desperate need of help.
Malcolm: Why you?
Alex: I'm glad I have this job. Being part of a private firm is appealing to me. This is a terrific offer. Michael tailored the position to make it too attractive.
Malcolm: My brother was willing to do the same thing.
Alex: He would do what he could, but there are limits.
Malcolm: In a company that size, look at the case you were just dealing with. You knocked the hell out of the HMO. What you have done will have an impact on the country for a long time. How can you feel you would be held back?
Alex: There are other exceptions. The merger and acquisitions? That's not the same thing.
Malcolm: Did you sign a contract with Michael Baldwin?
Alex: Not yet.
Malcolm: Good, because you're not going to. Not if I can help it.
John: I'm sorry, Victor, you don't have much of a case against Tricia Dennison.
Victor: What about my promise to her father that I would not take legal action against Tricia Dennison as long as he kept me apprised of her progress? Now he won't be able to do that.
John: I wish I could make that work for you. Keith's hospitalization does not give you jurisdiction over his daughter.
Victor: Can I ask a judge to wiretap the Dennison house?
John: That would never fly.
Victor: Damn it, there must be something we can do.
John: It's in your best interest not to pursue this any further. What if Tricia goes to the newspapers, accuses you of harassing her? That could lead to very bad publicity.
Victor: I would rather have her under my roof than let her roam the streets. This way I can monitor every conversation.
John: What are you talking about?
Paul: Every call in and out of here is secretly recorded.
John: Victor, you know that's illegal. If Tricia found out, she could charge you with invasion of privacy. Not just her but everybody she talks to on the phone.
Victor: Tricia Dennison is a very dangerous woman. She poses a threat to my family. I will do everything in my power to protect my family. You got that?
John: Victor, I'm an officer of the court. You know and I know that I can't be a party to this conversation any longer. Gentlemen.
Victor: I know -- I appreciate your continued support in this matter, but if you feel you have to leave, go ahead.
Paul: Our hands are tied. It's a stroke of luck Tricia has stayed here as long as she did. Now that she's changed her mind, we're back to square one.
You did the right thing.
Tricia: What are you talking about?
Matt: Moving out of Newman's pad. It's the right move.
Tricia: Why did I agree to move in with him?
Matt: It's probably my fault. I figured it was a good idea.
Tricia: So much for that theory.
Matt: Don't be so hard on yourself. You fooled everybody but in time I think you would have won over Sharon. Old man Newman, no way. He doesn’t miss a trick.
Tricia: I need some aspirin.
Matt: Tricia, everything is cool, all right? Hey, you got out of that apartment just in time. Will you try to get a grip?
Tricia: I can't because my head's going to explode.
Dr. Burns: Hello, Tricia.
Tricia: Hi, Dr. Burns.
Dr. Burns: Sorry I had to reschedule you. I hope this early session isn't too much of an inconvenience.
Tricia: No, that's fine.
Dr. Burns: Let's begin then, shall we?
Matt: Hey, I'll be right here with you. You have to do your part.
Hello. I'm not too late, am I?
Katherine: Cassie and I will take your gift. How are you? I suggest you get started. I love your hair.
Thank you.
Sharon: Hey, thanks for coming. Good to see you.
You look wonderful.
Sharon: Thank you.
Congratulations.
Sharon: Thank you so much. The food is really excellent, so help yourselves.
Victoria: Hi, you're still here.
Lauren: I extended my stay.
Victoria: Any reason why?
Lauren: You live in this city. You have seen interesting, handsome men running around here.
Lauren: What do you know. I'm out of punch.
Victoria: What do you know.
Cassie: Nikki sent Mommy something from the rain forest. Come on, I'll show you.
Lauren: Hello, Lynne.
Lynne: Lauren.
Lauren: Nice to see you. Who's your friend?
Lynne: Marissa Barton.
Lauren: How do you know each other?
Marissa: We work together.
Lauren: How are things at the office?
Lynne: They're good. Are you ready, Marissa? Don't let her fool you. It's so frustrating. I finally get rid of Isabella. Who comes waltzing back into Paul's life? Lauren Fenmore.
Traci: I wonder if Steve is making any progress with Colleen.
Brad: You and your husband look very happy, Trace. I'm so pleased for you.
Traci: Thanks.
Brad: I mean that.
Traci: I know you do. You don't have to keep saying that. You made your position very clear last night. I would like to thank you very much for all you've done for our family.
Brad: I'm just glad I could help.
Traci: Any luck?
Steve: Colleen won’t speak to me.
Brad: Don't take it too hard. She's not pleased with anyone right now.
Steve: She's cool with you too?
Brad: We had a talk last night.
Traci: What did you say to her?
Brad: I tried to straighten out things. I thought she understood why I was offering my support. I should have seen what was right there in front of me.
Traci: Ashley wasn't too far off the mark.
Brad: Maybe not. I told her I wanted to continue to be part of her life. I emphasized that her place is with the two of you.
Traci: I appreciate that.
Steve: So do I. Thanks, Brad.
Brad: Sure. What just happened now with Colleen?
Steve: I knocked on the door. She wouldn't answer. I have a feeling it'll be a long flight back to New York.
Brad: Would you mind if I give it a try?
Steve: It's fine with me.
Traci: I should probably get packed.
Jack: What did the moustache say his business was about?
Ashley: He said it was business.
Jack: What was his business about?
Ashley: I don't know. He never said.
Jack: He can smell vulnerable women a mile away. Considering you would turn to this man.
Ashley: He saw I was hurting, Jack, and was trying to be supportive. He's been a good friend to me.
Jack: A friend my --
Ashley: He's been a good friend and you know it. If it wasn't for your stupid vendetta, you'd see it.
Jack: Yes, from time to time he's convinced you he's a positive friend. This man does nothing without an agenda, not one --
Ashley: Are you finished? Are you done?
Jack: You don't want to talk about this, let's talk about Brad. Newman coming on to you doesn't surprise me at all. That's the way he works but Brad is your husband. His behavior is inexcusable. If he doesn't straighten up, he's going to answer to me.
Victor: Square one is unsatisfactory, Paul. Tricia Dennison refuses to stay with me. I'll have to take other measures. I don't want that woman to act without constraint.
Paul: How do you propose to do that and stay within the bounds of the law?
Victor: Good question. There has to be some way.
Paul: You think having Tricia stay here is paying off?
Victor: Oh, yeah. I was beginning to strip her defenses and reveal her real motives. The other day I took her to breakfast at the coffee house. I arranged an encounter with Larry Warton.
Paul: How did she react?
Victor: She was quite shaken. Her behavior became very erratic.
Paul: That troubles you.
Victor: Yeah. Because supposedly she's taking medication to prevent mood swings.
Paul: So what are you thinking?
Victor: I'm suspecting something. I'll get back to you, Paul.
[Knock on door]
Colleen: Go away.
Brad: Colleen, it's me. Would you open the door please?
Colleen: I don't want to talk to you.
Brad: Look, we don't have to do this right now. I'd really like a word with you before you go. I don't want to leave things like this between us. I see you're packing. I know you're disappointed in me. But I had to be honest. You belong in New York with your mom and Steve. You have a lot of good people on your side, sweetheart. You haven't lost a thing. You still have your parents, your home, your family and me. We all win.
Colleen: Just you by not having me around.
Brad: Oh, honey.
Colleen: I thought I could count on you. But you're just like the rest of them.
Brad: We'll talk soon, okay? Maybe a week or two. Or a month. Whatever it takes. But I am not dropping out of your life. Not ever again. You're my daughter, Colleen. I love you.
Dr. Burns: So you're moving out of Mr. Newman's apartment.
Tricia: It's not a good place for me.
Dr. Burns: You have every right to leave. I'm a little concerned about the quick decisions you have been making recently. For your therapy to be most effective, you have to maintain a consistent routine.
Tricia: You think this could harm my treatment?
Dr. Burns: Possibly. Are you sure living by yourself is what you want?
Tricia: Definitely.
Dr. Burns: It will be the last change.
Tricia: Yes.
Matt: You see that? She's giving you a funny look.
Matt: Quick, say something reassuring.
Tricia: There has been one constant in my life. It's been being here with you, as well as taking my medication.
Dr. Burns: I hope those see you through, as well as the rest of your life is calm and stable. Remember what I said, you have to establish a routine. The sooner the better. I'll have the nurse get your medication.
Tricia: Thank you.
Matt: Nice work, Trish. Very smooth.
Tricia: I didn't set off any alarms?
Matt: No, no, I don't think so. The thing you said at the end about the therapy and the meds, it was an excellent touch.
Tricia: What can I say? You taught me well.
Here you are, Miss Dennison.
Alex: I beg your pardon?
Malcolm: You're not working with that man.
Alex: This isn't your decision, baby.
Malcolm: I know more about Michael Baldwin than you do.
Alex: Just because you have a beef with that man --
Malcolm: Keep it real. You know that man is a snake.
Alex: Based on what?
Malcolm: How about the way he tried to take my son away from me?
Alex: Do you think I agree with all my clients?
Malcolm: How about the rest of his track record? He was part of that shady takeover.
Alex: It was a hostile takeover.
Malcolm: It's a fine line.
Alex: If you want to judge the man for that, why don't you take a hard look at the Abbott's? I don't see them handing the company back to Victor.
Malcolm: The last thing I want to do is argue with you.
Alex: You just want me to turn down Michael's offer.
Malcolm: Yes, I do.
Alex: You haven't given me a valid reason.
Malcolm: I have a bad feeling.
Alex: I have a good feeling, and it's my career.
Malcolm: That's it? Huh? End of discussion?
Alex: I love you, Malcolm, and I respect you, but working for Michael is what's best for me, and you'll have to accept it.
Malcolm: Alex, you know what's killing me right now? You are passing up an opportunity to work alongside people that you know and you trust like your future brother-in-law. You can share an office with a money-grubbing sleaze like Michael Baldwin? Alex, this makes me wonder if I know you half as well as I thought.
Ashley: Could you please just stay out of this?
Jack: You know I can't do that.
Ashley: Could you at least try?
Jack: Are you and junior at least talking?
Ashley: We talk all the time. It doesn't accomplish anything but we talk all the time. I hope the situation with Colleen doesn't --
Jack: I will see to it.
Ashley: There's nothing you can do, Jack.
Jack: I will light a fire under our little sister for her to make up her mind.
Ashley: Steve's in town.
Jack: That's good news.
Ashley: Maybe, maybe not. Brad went home and Steve and Traci were there. A short time later Steve took off.
Jack: Whether Steve and Traci get back together again, they will get back to New York and you will have your life back.
Ashley: I wonder what kind of life that'll be.
Katherine: All right, ladies. Ladies, it's about time to open the gifts.
Sharon: I should confess. I already opened one of them at home.
No fair.
Cassie: It was from me.
Sharon: Cassie wrote "the" most beautiful letter to the baby. I want everybody to know how much it meant to me.
Katherine: Esther, why don't you hand Sharon the gift from Nikki, all right? Okay. This should be very interesting. I would like to see what comes out of the rain forest.
Sharon: Okay.
Katherine: Oh, that's so sweet. That is so sweet. It's for the baby.
Lauren: Who knew there was such great shopping in the rain forest?
Katherine: That doesn't look like it came from a tree.
Esther: Cassie, you look so excited about the new baby.
Cassie: I can't wait.
Esther: What are you hoping for, a little brother or sister?
Cassie: I don't care really.
Esther: Not even a little bit?
Cassie: Whether it's a boy or a girl, it'll be the most perfect baby in the whole world.
Sharon: Get out. Get out now! Before I --
Matt: Before you what, huh? Sharon, I'm not going to hurt you or your precious little kid. I don't have to. I've already put my mark on both of you.
Cassie: Time for the next one.
Katherine: Good girl.
Why don't you grab that big package over there?
Steve: That was fast. Here, let me give you a hand.
Traci: Thank you. I think that's everything. Well, how did it go with Colleen?
Brad: We talked for a while. I'm not sure it did any good.
Traci: You did your best.
Brad: She's really hurting.
Steve: At that age things seem worse than they are. I'm sure you're right, Brad. She just needs some time.
Traci: I thought we would take a later flight back and stay here and have dinner with the family.
Brad: I'm not sure that's wise.
Traci: The sooner we get back to New York, the sooner Colleen can start healing.
Brad: Anyway, I told her I wanted to continue to stay in touch.
Excuse me, may I help you?
Victor: I'm Victor Newman. I'm here to see Miss Dennison.
Matt: No, I don't hey, Newman, you big, pompous jerk, I'd like to rip that moustache off and jam it right down your throat.
Victor: Something the matter?
Matt: What's the matter, Trish? Get us the hell out of here!
Tricia: It's okay. He can see me.
I'll be outside if you need anything.
Victor: You probably want to know why I’ve come to see you.
Tricia: To talk Dr. Burns into having me stay with you. Don't bother.
Victor: Have you discussed where you live with your psychiatrist?
Tricia: She says I should stay where I'm comfortable. If you want to ask her, be my guest.
Victor: Is that your medication?
Tricia: Yes.
Victor: They let you take them without a nurse being present? You know how important those pills are. Why don't you take them?
