Victor: Why don't you try him at home? No, no, I need to speak with him right now. Thank you. [Knock on door] Come in.
Neil: Hi. Are you available?
Victor: Yes, Neil, what is it?
Neil: I know you tested the waters a bit with Miss Perez.
Victor: She wants to come work for us?
Neil: Given the right offer, yeah.
Victor: Why don't you talk to Legal? You know best where she fits in. You know what her capabilities are.
Neil: Absolutely. I'll get right on it.
Victor: Miss Perez likes it in Genoa City after all.
I'm afraid there's no answer at Keith Dennison's house.
Victor: Wait a minute. What's going on here?
Vitals every 20 minutes, please.
Tricia: Did my father have a stroke?
Reese: We can't be sure until we have a CAT scan and run a few tests.
Tricia: Is that what you think it is?
Reese: Do you know when this occurred?
Tricia: I just found him like this this morning.
Reese: When was the last time you saw him in his normal state?
Tricia: He had a headache last night and he went to bed early. It wasn't even dark out.
Reese: We'll know more soon. Let's get him to radiology. Excuse us, Tricia. We need to give him a CAT scan.
Paul: Well, thanks for coming right over.
Isabella: I wasn't waiting by the phone.
Paul: You're still in Genoa City.
Isabella: I wouldn't read too much into that. I still haven't decided what to do next. Good thing you called. I was feeling neglected. I kept telling myself you were just giving me space. Anyway, I'm here now and obviously you have something on your mind. Go ahead, tell me why I'm here.
Paul: I wanted to see you.
Isabella: And that's all.
Paul: You're upset. Look, Isabella, if you're expecting some major pronouncement.
Isabella: A little pronouncement would do.
Paul: I still feel like I'm living in limbo.
Isabella: How do you think I feel?
Jill: Placement tests on the two new fragrances.
Jack: I don't have time.
Jill: You don't look busy to me.
Jack: Let it go. I'm being polite.
Jill: Fine. You can read it for yourself.
Jack: Thank you. Now if that's all.
Jill: Actually no. I'm confused about this party you're throwing. How did I make the list?
Jack: Feel free to stay home.
Jill: I assume it's because Sean's in with Phyllis. Here's my question, I'm confused.
Jack: What else is new?
Jill: The invitation said formal dress but it's a Latin theme. Which is it?
Jack: It's both.
Jill: I don't understand it.
Jack: The food and music is Latin. The dress is formal.
Jill: Tuxes and tacos? It's mishmash.
Jack: People of all nationalities have formal parties.
Jill: This is typically Phyllis to be provocative and --
Jack: Shut the hell up about Phyllis.
Malcolm: You really been through it, haven't you?
Phyllis: I wasn't the one who wanted kids so badly, remember?
Malcolm: Yeah, yeah, I know. But Jack.
Phyllis: He's devastated.
Malcolm: Well, hey, you know what? He's still got you and you have each other. Now that says a lot.
Phyllis: Not a baby.
Malcolm: There are other options, Phyllis.
Phyllis: Listen, Malcolm, don't do that, okay? Michael was here and he already gave me that pep talk. I know if we want kids down the road, there are ways.
Malcolm: Yes, there are. I'm sure Jack is aware of that too.
Phyllis: You know, people want different things in life. They have different expectations. We're talking about a man who desperately wanted children and now he can't have them, not with me at least. And, you know, I'm just wondering if Jack wants me at all anymore. Maybe he's having second thoughts about everything.
Paul: You sound very impatient.
Isabella: I'm starting to be.
Paul: Isabella, what do you want me to say to you?
Isabella: You know what, Paul? I have loved you and comforted you, given support to you in every way I can think. I get in return a man clinging to a wife who doesn't want him anymore. I'm supposed to stick around on the off chance you might get over your guilt and decide how you feel about me? It doesn't work that way. If what I have to offer isn't good enough, you tell me now. At least I will leave with some dignity.
Paul: I understand.
Isabella: James used to say that. It drove me crazy.
Paul: I'm sorry.
Isabella: Paul, I don't want apologies. Tell me what is in your heart. What do you want?
Paul: You have been on my mind a lot lately. You know, I can't get the thought of how this whole thing played out with Chris out of my mind. Yes, I feel guilty. I don't know what to do about it. I have so many things swirling around in my head.
Isabella: Where does that leave us? When will you start stop beating yourself up and start living your life again? Any time soon?
Neil: You seem very anxious to get a hold of Keith Dennison.
Victor: I am indeed.
Neil: Ryan told me Tricia is out of the hospital.
Victor: She's staying with her father and she's going to therapy. Therefore she's supposedly on a short leash.
Neil: You question the arrangement?
Victor: I question Keith Dennison's ability to control his daughter.
Neil: You know, Victor --
Victor: Hold that thought. Connie, did you take down Keith Dennison's cell phone number? Do you have it? Try him there. Thank you.
Matt: Assuming your dad is going to be in here for a while, we have to make plans. Get it together, will you? You have a chance to do something now.
Tricia: Like what?
Matt: You heard the doctor, if they got to him in time, he could be out in a matter of weeks.
Tricia: Do you think he'll pull through?
Matt: I can't guarantee he won't. We don't have a lot of time, doll. You better use it wisely.
Tricia: I can't think to make any plans.
Matt: Come on, Tricia. You already thought of one.
Tricia: What are you talking about?
Matt: The idea of slipping poison into Ryan and Vicki's champagne. That was a good idea. You have to expand your vision. If we expand our heads a little, we can figure out a way to take care of all your enemies. The time is now, babe.
Tricia: You'll wake my father.
Matt: Let the doctors worry about him. You have to take care of yourself. No one else is, that's for sure.
Jill: Why are you yelling at me?
Jack: I will count to three and I want you out of here. One... Two...
Jill: What kind of hold does Phyllis have on you.
Jack: I am telling you to get out of here!
John: Will the two of you stop it?! I can hear you down the hall! What is going on here?!
Jill: I have no idea. Your son is totally out of control.
John: Jack, what is this about?
Jill: I made one comment about him and Phyllis and he went berserk.
Jack: She insulted Phyllis up and down.
John: This is not the time to say anything about Phyllis.
Jill: Really? Why is that?
Jack: Don't. We don't owe this woman any explanation at all.
Jill: Fine. Forget it. What a festive way to end the day.
John: So how is Phyllis?
Jack: She's fine. Physically, she's fine. She'll be released from the hospital probably in a couple of days.
John: Good. What about my son?
Jack: Meaning how do I feel about my engagement knowing Phyllis and I can't have a family together? That should be easy, huh? I love the woman. I want to marry her. But Dad, having a family together was part of that dream.
John: Oh, Jackie.
Jack: I don't know why I'm so torn about this. I love her. That should be enough.
John: Son, don't minimize the impact of this. I'm not pushing you either way. But you make sure that you're really honest with yourself about this and dig deep. Make sure that if you marry, there aren't unresolved issues. It's just going to bring more heartache to you and Phyllis.
Jack: Yeah. I've got to get to the hospital, okay?
Isabella: Paul, you're in a difficult place and I realize that. This is your life we're talking about. We're wasting precious time looking backwards.
Paul: Fine. Let's look to the future then. You want to pursue a relationship with me, am I right?
Isabella: Under the right circumstances, yes.
Paul: Exactly. Under the right circumstances. Those are the magic words. You have no idea how much I wish --
Isabella: That's your problem, Paul. You keep wishing. Why don't you make it happen?
Paul: I can't will myself to stop hurting. It doesn't work that way.
Isabella: Yes, it can.
Paul: Not with me.
Isabella: I will keep asking the question until I get an answer. Where does this leave us? What do you want to do, Paul?
Paul: Last time we talked, I asked you to -- I persuaded you to stay. And now in good conscience I just can't ask you to do that any longer. It's not because I don't care about you. I do. It's just not fair to put you in that position.
Isabella: I was wondering why you picked a restaurant. Now I know. You wanted to be somewhere where I couldn't tell you how I really felt!
Billy: I see you're hungry.
Mackenzie: I didn't feel like eating lunch earlier.
Mackenzie: Talk about being a downer being around those two.
Billy: I know we feel bad about Raul and Rianna.
Mackenzie: Do we seem selfish, caring about our own happiness?
Billy: We want people around us to be happy.
Mackenzie: You're right.
Billy: Exactly. I know that Raul and Rianna have broken up. Call me optimistic. I'm not giving up on them. I still hope they work things out. What?
Mackenzie: I don't know how they can.
Billy: It's just a breakdown in communication. I mean, wasn't it?
J.T.: Bad day?
Rianna: Barely.
J.T.: Mind if I sit here? Look, Rianna, I know that what happened with us back in the day is part of the reason you and Raul are having such a rough time. For what it's worth, I'm real sorry. If there's anything that I can do.
Rianna: I don't think there's anything.
J.T.: I can try.
Rianna: This is about what Raul did.
J.T.: Maybe if I have a talk with him.
Rianna: No. You don't even know what's going on.
J.T.: I hate seeing you like this. It reminds when we were together. I wish you would give me a chance to make up for that.
Phyllis: If Jack is reassessing the situation --
Malcolm: You don't know that's what's going on.
Phyllis: I think he was in shock.
Malcolm: Since then?
Phyllis: He sent flowers. He called. I didn't ask him to come by. But then again he didn't offer.
Malcolm: Why do you think that is?
Phyllis: I think deep down inside we both know there's nothing to say. A family was his dream.
Malcolm: Phyllis, you know, sometimes dreams, they do change.
Phyllis: Not always. Sometimes they just die.
Malcolm: Okay. You are going to stop talking like this, Phyllis. You are a fighter. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and fight.
Phyllis: I know. Listen to me, Malcolm. Jack can walk through that door and all these wonderful things -- he can say the relationship is all that matters. He can say I'll make peace with the situation. But is it real? Or is he saying it just to make me feel better?
How's my girl? How's both my girls? I swear you have never looked more beautiful.
Phyllis: What are you doing?
Jack: I'm trying to imprint this in my brain, this beautiful picture.
Phyllis: A father doesn't have to ask.
Jack: Hello. Hello. Oh, stretch. Oh, stretch. Oh, you are beautiful. Oh, you are just so beautiful.
Phyllis: I'm so glad I was able to give her to you, Jack. She's gorgeous. She looks like her dad.
Jack: Don't say that. She's just like her mom. She's beautiful. You don't want to look like your crusty old dad. I want you to be a spitting image of your mother. I'm already falling in love with you. You know, I think I've been waiting for you all my life.
Gina: I'm glad you're still here. Do you have Chris's address?
Paul: No, no, not on me. What do you need it for?
Gina: It's not for me actually. It's for my brother.
Paul: Danny?
Gina: Yeah. You see he called from Belgium. He has some photographs of Daniel he wants to send to her.
Paul: Where's this coming from? Did you tell him Chris --?
Gina: No, no. I didn't mention anything.
Paul: Why after all this time is Danny reaching out to Chris?
Gina: I don't think that's what he's doing. You know yourself, he's sent her photographs before.
Paul: The timing seems pretty damn suspicious.
Gina: I don't know what to tell you. I swear I didn't say anything about the two of you. Paul, maybe he just sensed something.
Paul: A mystical connection between Chris and Danny? Sure that's what it was.
Gina: Forget I asked. Bad timing, okay?
Paul: Mystical connection. So why didn't I think of that before?
Billy: I know something's up.
Mackenzie: It's not that simple, Billy. Okay. You remember when I was in the hideaway with Rianna? You brought Raul over there.
Billy: Yeah. Yeah, we left so they could work things out.
Mackenzie: Yeah. But that's not exactly what happened.
Billy: What did Rianna tell you?
Mackenzie: That Raul started pressuring her to have sex.
Billy: What?
Mackenzie: It was all about he couldn't handle that they had been together like that.
Billy: And he and Rianna haven't.
Mackenzie: Exactly. It turned into this big thing about "prove that you love me. If you love me, you'll do it. You did it with J.T." That kind of stuff. I guess it got pretty ugly. You didn't see it coming either.
Billy: No, no. I knew Raul was upset. I never thought he would do something like that.
Mackenzie: Anyway, that's what drove things over the edge. Rianna was so furious and that's how it ended.
Billy: I can't believe he would do something like that.
Mackenzie: That was my reaction too. Then after hearing Rianna --
Billy: There's no way she misread him.
Mackenzie: No, Billy.
Billy: Man, what the hell is wrong with him?
Mackenzie: I guess he got all insecure and then freaked out.
Billy: Makes sense the way they're acting.
Mackenzie: Billy, I am really worried about Rianna. She has had a rough summer. She's been around J.T. the whole time. And then she's trying to get over how he hurt her last year and now this? If that happened to me, I don't know what I would do.
Rianna: You want to help me?
J.T.: If I can.
Rianna: Why, J.T.?
J.T.: Because I'm kind of responsible for all this misery you're going through.
Rianna: No, you're not. Anyway, I'm not sure what you could do.
J.T.: Well, I'm not either. Maybe just take your mind off things. What do you say to going to a movie tonight.
Rianna: Are you kidding? Us going out?
J.T.: Why not? Eat popcorn, stare at the screen. Let somebody else get pounded on for a moment. It would be good for us.
Rianna: All right. Just a movie?
J.T.: You think I'm going to try something? No way.
Rianna: Just so we understand each other.
J.T.: You're Raul's girl.
Rianna: No, I'm not. Not any more.
J.T.: The two of you had a fight. You'll see each other eventually.
Rianna: When did you become Mr. Optimistic?
J.T.: Somebody has to be.
Rianna: No romantic comedy.
J.T.: No romantic anything.
Tricia: What did you find out?
Matt: The radiologist is reading it now.
Tricia: Shouldn't there have been a change?
Reece: Let me attend to your father.
[Cell phone ringing]
Reece: Turn the cell phone off.
Tricia: Hello.
Hello. Who's this?
Tricia: Who's this?
Oh, this is Mr. Newman's secretary calling for Mr. Dennison.
Tricia: He can't talk to you right now.
Reese: Before this happened did he have any symptoms? You mentioned your father had a headache. Did he at all seem disoriented?
Victor: Yes, Connie.
Victor: Did you get her name?
Connie: I was about to ask when she hung up. I called back and got his voice mail.
Victor: Kindly keep trying, Connie.
Connie: Yes, sir.
Victor: I have a bad feeling, Neil. I know Victoria's in the building. Have you seen Ryan?
Neil: I saw him right before I came up here.
Victor: Good. Then they're both here. That's good.
Phyllis: Thank you for coming by.
Malcolm: You're welcome.
Jack: Hey, sweetheart. Hey, buddy.
Malcolm: Jack. Good, good. I was on my way out. I will talk to you really soon.
Phyllis: Okay. Take care.
Malcolm: Yeah. You too. Later, man.
Jack: See you later. Talked to your doctor. He says you'll be out in a couple of days. Just in time for the party.
Phyllis: Yeah. The party. That's right. Our first official soiree. I was going to be the hostess and we were going to announce our engagement.
Jack: Yeah.
Phyllis: Yeah. But now --
Jack: But now what?
Phyllis: Jack, don't pretend that what's happened between the two of us doesn't change everything. I know what's been going on in your mind because it's been going on in my mind too. I can't give you that baby you so desperately want.
Jack: Phyllis, listen.
Phyllis: No. I know what you're thinking. Because I have been thinking it too. I mean, I'm sure we're both questioning whether to get married at all now. That's what you're thinking, isn't it?
Jack: Actually --
Phyllis: How? The deafening silence says it all.
Jack: We're both very emotional right now. Let's not make any decisions. Let's not jump to any conclusions. Yes. Yes, what has happened has had an impact. We still love each other. That hasn't changed.
Phyllis: That never changes. I will always love you. It has nothing to do with that. That's what makes it so tragic.
Jack: Wait, what do you mean?
Phyllis: Love can't bridge this gap. Love can only carry two people so far. Jack, I see this in your eyes. I know what's going on with you which makes me think there's only one thing to do, and I guess I'm the one who has to do it.
Neil: You really believe Tricia is that much of a threat?
Victor: I won't take any chances. Connie, would you put security on alert?
Connie: Yes, sir. You have a call from the doorman of the building you just bought, line one.
Victor: This is Victor Newman.
Isabella: We are through talking.
Paul: I can understand how you might feel that way. I thought of something after you left, something I haven't thought about in years. I haven't wanted to think about it in years.
Isabella: Before you even start, is this going to change anything? I've had it up to here about hearing how tormented you are.
Paul: Isabella, I'm not going until you hear what I have to say.
Jack: What are you talking about, Phyllis?
Phyllis: Jack, please. Don't tell me you haven't been thinking about us. Please don't tell me that. What might have been. I know what you've been dreaming. You've been dreaming coming to a hospital, to a hospital room just like this. One big difference, there's no baby in my arms.
Jack: We suffered a loss, okay? You're grieving, it's natural. You have to go through this when you lose something.
Phyllis: Or someone.
Jack: You haven't lost someone.
Phyllis: Yeah, I have. We both have. We'll never know her name. Our baby, a little baby girl. That's what I would have wanted.
Jack: This kind of talk --
Phyllis: Listen, Jack, I have to do this while I have the guts for both our sakes.
Jack: Do what?
Phyllis: I'm breaking off our engagement. I'm setting you free.
Matt: Here? Are you nuts? Let me rephrase that.
Tricia: Don't bother.
Matt: Bad idea, Tricia.
Tricia: Nobody will be here. It's the middle of the afternoon.
Matt: That doorman has serious doubts.
Tricia: He let me in. I have the shiny new key. We're divorced, remember?
Matt: If somebody walks in unexpectedly, we're screwed.
Tricia: I had to go somewhere to think. You wouldn't stop badgering me at the hospital.
Matt: Why didn't you go to your place?
Tricia: I don't want to go back, not after the way I found Dad this morning.
Matt: This is the wrong place. Anywhere but here. What do you think? Ryan is going to rush in here and comfort you? It's you and me, babe, remember? I'm all you've got.
Tricia: Thanks. That cheers me up.
Matt: First you need to calm down, all right? I know you're upset. You have to get past this. I don't care how grim your doctors look, your father could come out of it. Whether or not he remembers his own name he'll certainly remember to take you to white coats for talking to thin air.
Tricia: Even if you're right, I still have time.
Matt: Use it to our advantage. Don't blow your cover, not now.
Tricia: Maybe you're right. Go somewhere else. Just say you'll shut up.
