Phyllis: You want to get married?

Jack: That's what I said.

Phyllis: To me?

Jack: I don't see anyone else in the room.

Phyllis: Okay. Very funny, Jack. Imagine us married.

Jack: I'm not joking.

Phyllis: Where's the ring?

Jack: I don't have one.

Phyllis: You can't get engaged without a rock.

Jack: I'm trying to be spontaneous. I thought you of all people would appreciate that.

Phyllis: This is just out of the blue, Jack.

Jack: It's not out of the blue. I love you. You love me. We're like a married couple already.

Phyllis: We haven't been together that long.

Jack: I have had time enough to know that I want to spend the rest of my life making you happy.

Phyllis: I need -- I have to think -- I have to think about this.

Jack: No, no. Sometimes you have to think about things. Sometimes you just have to act. We want this. We're ready for this. What are we waiting for?

Brad: Hi.

Ashley: Hi, Colleen.

John: There's my little beauty. How was your day?

Colleen: Fine.

John: I called Mrs. Martinez and she couldn't find you.

Colleen: I went for a walk.

John: Good, good. I'm glad you got out. There are a lot of kids in this neighborhood and before long, you will make some new friends.

Brad: What are you reading?

Colleen: Nothing.

John: Colleen, listen to me. Now I know this is a very, very difficult time for you. But we are all here for you. And we want to make things easier. You just ask, okay?

Ashley: So, gang, what's on the agenda for tonight?

Brad: Why don't we all go to a movie?

Colleen: There's nothing I want to see.

Brad: You know, I have a great idea. How about if we go for a swim.

John: That is a terrific idea. If I remember, you are quite a fish.

Colleen: Look, I know you're all trying to be nice. You don't have to baby-sit me. I'm not a little kid.

Brad: We know that, Colleen. I thought you might like to see my double back twist with a flip cannonball.

Ashley: It's a belly flop.

Brad: It's a cannonball. What do you say?

Colleen: Okay.

Brad: Great, why don't you run upstairs and change and I'll meet you by the pool. Well, go team.

John: No, Brad, no. That was your Victory. You handled her just right.

Olivia: This minimum annual figure.

Nobody expects to make that. We just put numbers in there. If you're willing to work hard, see a lot of patients, you will earn a very good living.

Olivia: I already earn a very good living.

You said you have a need for additional income.

Olivia: I am about to start a very expensive lawsuit for visitation of my son. Nate, my son, he's growing up and I want a better life for him.

That's admirable.

Olivia: Yeah. And expensive.

You're wondering about the bottom line.

Olivia: It's once I sign this contract, it means I'm on-board. And these payout percentages.

What, is there a problem?

Olivia: It's that I can't possibly see enough patients in a day to do better than I'm doing now. Is there any way to improve from this substantially?

Ryan: Thank you for stopping by, Keith. Can I get you anything, coffee?

Keith: No, no thanks. I assume this is about Tricia.

Ryan: I spoke with her psychiatrist. She seems to be pleased with her progress. I thought I would get a firsthand report from you.

Keith: The transition is remarkable.

Ryan: That's good news.

Keith: Yes, it is. For Tricia and for you.

Ryan: Which brings me to the other reason I wanted to see you.

Keith: You're anxious to finalize your divorce.

Ryan: It's just a formality at this point.

Keith: Ryan, you and I both know this marriage has been over for a long time now. You have been patient long enough. You have a right to get on with your own life.

Ryan: I'm glad we did this your way. If I asked Tricia to sign those papers before she was ready.

Keith: It could have set her back.

Ryan: Things worked out as you hoped.

Keith: I'm sure my daughter is on her way back to me.

Tricia: I've been thinking about our last session.

Anything in particular?

Tricia: What you said about learning to let go, not dwelling on things I can't control. I realized I do that a lot.

What are you going to do about that?

Tricia: Make a change.

You've made great strides, Tricia.

Tricia: Do you think so?

You see something you're not happy with, dedicate yourself to improving. Would you have done that when you first arrived here?

Tricia: No, I suppose not.

It's important for you to use that as motivation.

Tricia: That's what I'm trying to do.

You won't be able to move forward until you've faced your past. Otherwise it will always be there holding you back.

Tricia: But I have faced my past.

Not completely. There are doors you sealed off because you're afraid of what you'll find if you open them.

Tricia: You mean Tony's death.

Victoria: Trust me, by the end of the day, Ryan's marriage should be over.

Nicholas: He's confident she'll sign the papers?

Victoria: She seems she's ready to move on with her life.

Nicholas: What if she's not?

Victoria: There are other options. Don't worry. Ryan has assured me no matter what the divorce is going through whether Tricia wants it to or not.

Nicholas: I hope you're right, sis.

Victoria: So did dad show up at the barbecue?

Nicholas: Yeah, for a little while.

Victoria: Thought he might. How did things go?

Nicholas: Things were less tense but it was a holiday and they seemed to call a truce. I wish this thing with Larry Warton would blow over.

Victoria: Mother was thinking of giving him a job someplace else.

Nicholas: I heard.

Victoria: How do you feel about that?

Nicholas: Fine with me. It might be best for everyone.

Nikki: Mr. Silvestri, hello.

Your secretary said I could meet you here. Thank you for agreeing to meet with me.

Nikki: Yes. What did you want? You weren't specific on the phone.

I wondered if you could fill me in on what's going on around here.

Nikki: Have a seat. What has he said?

There was an episode with a Mr. Carlton with a missing letter?

Nikki: That was a misunderstanding. That got straightened out not after tempers flared.

He overheard a conversation between you and Mr. Carlton?

Nikki: Yeah, I know what you're talking about.

So it's true, you are thinking of terminating his employment.

Nikki: Perhaps it might be better if he worked elsewhere.

You mean another department at Jabot.

Nikki: No, I mean another company entirely. I have connections at Chancellor Industries. It might work out better for him over there.

I see.

Nikki: Would that be a problem?

I'm afraid it could be. The judge and the D.A. granted his probation conditionally. If there's an indication that Larry isn't holding up his end of the deal, it could be trouble.

Keith: When were you planning to visit Tricia?

Ryan: I wanted to see her now and get her signature on these divorce papers.

Keith: If you don't mind, I want to go with you.

Ryan: You're afraid she'll react badly?

Keith: I want to be there in case she needs extra support.

Ryan: That's not a bad idea.

Keith: You know, Ryan, I feel guilty with everything Tricia has been through. Why didn't I see this coming?

Ryan: Keith, there is no such thing as a perfect parent. I have screwed up many times as a father, but the important thing is my son knows I've done my best. Tricia loves you very much. Just be there for her. Focus on helping her get well.

Keith: I can't help noticing the irony in this.

Ryan: What, the two of us having this conversation?

Keith: Mm-hmm. For years, I didn't think you were good enough for my daughter. Well, I had it wrong. No man was more worthy than you. I'm sorry I misjudged you. No matter what happens, I wish you the best.

Ryan: Same to you.

Keith: We should go.

Ryan: Yeah.

I assure you, Dr. Winters, if you sign on with Lawson medical, we will make it worth your while.

Olivia: Can you make it more specific? (Cell phone ringing) excuse

excuse me. I have to take this in privacy.

Olivia: You stay here. I'll go in my office. Am I going too fast?

Alex: No.

Olivia: He's suspicious.

Alex: Olivia, you're doing fine. Take it slow and don't let him off the hook. You're doing a great job. (Knock on door)

Dr. Winters.

Olivia: Finished?

Please excuse the interruption. Where were we?

Olivia: You were telling me how rich I could get working for Lawson medical.

You still think about that night?

Tricia: All the time.

When you look back, what do you recall?

Tricia: I remember getting in my car, putting it in reverse. Hearing that horrible noise. And seeing Tony lying on the ground. Realizing what I'd done.

I was determined it was an accident.

Tricia: I'm not sure I believe that. I know how much I hated that man. I was consumed by it. When I got in my car that night, I was frantic. I was just trying to stop him from marrying my sister. At that moment, I might have been capable of anything.

Even murder.

Tricia: That was the lowest point of my life. I thought I had hit rock bottom. And then I met --

Go ahead say it.

Tricia: Matt Clark. There, I said it. There was never any Carter Mills.

I know this is painful, Tricia. We need to deal with the truth.

Tricia: I understand.

You were terribly confused and in the beginning this man was your life line.

Tricia: That was all part of his plan, to lure me in and make me become dependent on him. And then he showed his true colors. He made me feel like I was nothing. That's why I wanted to end it all. More than once.

But you're not in that place anymore.

Tricia: Thanks to you.

Don't thank me. This is your recovery, Tricia. I'm just here to guide you along a path.

Tricia: And you have. And I am so grateful for everything you have done for me. You know, I know that it could take the rest of my life to find peace. But thanks to the counseling and medication I've received here -- this is going to sound silly.

Try me.

Tricia: I almost feel reborn.

Victor: Did Victoria tell you about the reason for this meeting?

Nicholas: No, but I'm very curious.

Victor: Perhaps I should fill you in. How's the manufacturing complex coming along?

Nicholas: Well, I have been doing a lot of things. I haven't been able to devote as much time as I'd like to it.

Victor: Maybe you need a partner.

Nicholas: Okay. Who?

Victor: Someone very bright, very resourceful, proven track record and her name is on the building.

Nicholas: Victoria?

Victoria: Don't sound so surprised.

Nicholas: Just kidding. Yeah, it would be cool working with her.

Victor: So I have to tell you that as your dad, nothing would make me more happy than to see that the two of you accomplish more than I have been able to achieve. That would make me very, very happy.

Nikki: You're saying the judge might rescind Larry's probation?

In the court's eyes Larry would seem problematic and you're trying to get rid of him.

Nikki: Even if I'm recommending him for another job?

That's your call. I just want you to know all the facts. Thank you for your time. I'll let you get back to work.

Larry: Leo.

Hello, Larry.

Larry: What's going on?

Call me later.

Nikki: Come in, Mr. Warton.

Larry: Why was my probation officer here?

Nikki: To speak on your behalf.

Larry: Did it work?

Nikki: I suggested you working elsewhere but apparently that wouldn't fly with the judge.

Larry: I guess you made your decision. You don't want me around.

Brad: Sweetheart, have you seen Colleen?

Ashley: She went to change out of her suit. How was the water?

Brad: Fantastic.

Ashley: She had a smile on her face. I think she had a good time.

Brad: Yes, she did.

Ashley: I hear Mackenzie is going to be on camera.

Brad: It should bring a lot of attention her way.

Ashley: We need the boost.

Brad: Brash & sassy is riding high. Phyllis is to thank for that. That must please you to no end.

Ashley: She works for the competition, is seeing my brother, lives in my family home. Did you say this is this was a flash in the pan?

Brad: I still say it's a flash in the pan. It's a matter of time when Jack becomes immune to her charm and realizes you can't make a long-term commitment to someone so flaky.

Jack: I'm talking from the heart here.

Phyllis: I'm not questioning your sincerity.

Jack: Just my sanity?

Phyllis: Since when have you been so gung ho about marriage?

Jack: You sound like it's a death sentence. I'm asking you to walk down the aisle not down the plank.

Phyllis: Is this right for us?

Jack: What's going on here?

Phyllis: The whole idea of holy matrimony freaks me out.

Jack: Because of one bad experience.

Phyllis: Very, very bad experience. I was already married.

Jack: You haven't been married to me.

Phyllis: What about your family?

Jack: My family will come around.

Phyllis: After I'm tarred and feathered.

Jack: I have an answer for them too. We don't let them in on it.

Phyllis: What?

Jack: We have to tell them eventually I know. We don't have to announce it right away. Give them time to work your magic. Believe me, they will fall in love you -- with you the way I did. Well, not exactly the way I did.

Phyllis: I really -- I don't.

Jack: I know you're frightened. I know you're scared. I'll be standing right next to you.

Phyllis: Listen --

Jack: Just say yes. I know you want to say yes. Just say it. You'll make me the happiest --

Phyllis: Shh, stop it. Stop it. Oh, God, you made your pitch, okay? Back off.

Victoria: Well, I would say the future looks very promising for our family in all sorts of ways.

Victor: What do you mean by that?

Victoria: I was thinking out loud. We have to go. I'll miss my dinner reservations.

Victor: Should we go together?

Victoria: Why don't you go ahead. I have a few loose ends to tie up.

Victor: I'll wait for you.

Victoria: That's okay. You go ahead.

Victor: Your sister told me to get lost.

Nicholas: I told you she's stubborn.

Victor: I'll see you two later on.

Nicholas: All right, what was that all about?

Victoria: What?

Nicholas: The future looks promising in all kinds of ways. It's about mom and dad. Why don't you admit it. What are you up to? I know that looks all too well.

Victoria: Let's say there's something special in store for Dad's dinner.

Nikki: As I told Mr. Silvestri, I'm still exploring my options.

Larry: It seems there's two. I stay on and work here or I'll probably get sent back to prison.

Nikki: You're taking this better than I thought you would.

Larry: I have nothing to complain about. This job has been a great gig for me while it's lasted, especially considering the kind of guy I am.

Nikki: What do you mean?

Larry: Let's face it. I'm a high school dropout. I'm working here with all these movers and shakers. Even the guys down in the mail room went to college. So for me, this place is like a whole other world. And I got to be a part of that for a little while. Believe it or not, that really made me feel good. But I understand you've got to do what you've got to do, so I'll see you around.

Nikki: Wait, wait. Are you trying to make me feel guilty?

Larry: No, ma'am. You can believe whatever you want, especially if it keeps me from going back to the joint. But I did good work for you. I held up my end of the bargain. And if you ask me, that ought to be enough.

Nikki: You know what? You're right. You're right. This is my problem, not yours. Which means my options are down to one.

I didn't say you'd get rich. I just said you'd do well.

Olivia: Right.

Do you have any more questions?

Olivia: Yes. This payment schedule, I am not seeing --

you have nothing to worry about.

Olivia: You keep telling me that.

You're experienced which means you're less likely to cause mistakes. You have been in the trenches that less likely makes you to be an idealist.

Olivia: It puts doctors like me and insurers like you in an impossible position.

I wouldn't say impossible but difficult. There are ways around the inequities of the system.

Olivia: Tell me more.

As a contract provider, you would be given a list of those specialists affiliated with us. We want you to refer your patients to those doctors

Olivia: And?

We demonstrate our appreciation.

Olivia: Now we're talking. What else?

We have arrangements with certain large drug companies. We never ask you to harm your patients in any way. There is money available to doctors that prescribe certain name brand medications.

Olivia: Mr. Ingersoll, this is all very well and good. I need something more concrete.

Doctor, one of our biggest expenses is due to testing. As you know there are more tests available now than ever before. We need some way of controlling the expense of this technology.

Olivia: Like patients with a hang nail depending an MRI and genetic profiling.

Exactly. As a doctor you are the frontline defense against those abuses. For that, we're prepared to pay.

Brad: Ash, trust me. There's no way Jack's relationship with Phyllis will last. She can't commit, certainly not for the long term.

John: Long term or short, the fact remains that Phyllis is living in this house and that concerns me.

Ashley: You sound serious.

John: I don't think it's appropriate for Colleen to be living here. I think she's better off to stay with you two.

Brad: This has to do with Phyllis.

Ashley: Do you think this has to be Phyllis? As much as I dislike her, I think she will be careful around Colleen.

John: It's the same thing that bothered me since she moved in the house. Jack and she are not married and they are sharing a bed.

Ashley: I thought you came to terms with it.

John: I made my objections very clear. I was concerned what influence it would have on Billy.

Ashley: Now you're concerned about Colleen. 

 John: She's much younger, more impressionable. It's not a good environment for her.

Brad: Have you talked to Traci?

John: No.

Brad: John, I respect your opinion but there's something else you have to consider.

John: What?

Brad: This is Colleen's home away from home. This is where she's stayed. Considering what she's going through, I don't think she needs any more disruptions in her life.

John: That is a good point, Brad. Maybe for the time being, she should stay on here. But just to be safe, I am going to talk to Phyllis and remind her that there is a young girl living in this house and I will not tolerate her provocative behavior.

Ashley: Why don't you put your foot down and they can get their own place.

John: I've considered it. You know how much it means to me to have Jack living here and Phyllis seems to be happy.

Ashley: They go together like lemon juice and a paper cut.

Phyllis: Listen, I'm not trying to throw your proposal in your face.

Jack: What are you trying to do, Phyllis?

Phyllis: I'm trying to absorb this. This is a huge step.

Jack: You want me to back off, is that it?

Phyllis: I need you to let me have time to think.

Jack: I can't.

Phyllis: Why not?

Jack: Every time I look at your beautiful face, I imagine what it would be like to fall asleep with you every night.

Phyllis: You have that?

Jack: Not officially I don't, not on paper.

Phyllis: You don't know what you're getting yourself in to.

Jack: I don't care.

Phyllis: Marriage changes people.

Jack: I don't care.

Phyllis: I can already hear what people are going to say.

Jack: I really, really don't care what people think or say. You make me happy. You make me feel good.

Phyllis: Oh, God, marriage scares me.

Jack: This is life. This isn't a dress rehearsal. This is the only shot we've got. Yes, there is some risk. What would be the point if there wasn't?

Phyllis: Let's go.

Jack: That's not an answer.

Phyllis: I cannot give you an answer right now.

Jack: Phyllis, Phyllis, take the plunge. Take it with me.

Phyllis: Why do we need a piece of paper to tell us how we feel about each other?

Jack: This is more than a piece of paper and you know it or you wouldn't be so afraid. Either you love me or you don't.

Phyllis: Don't joke with me, Jack. You know I love you. I love you so much. That's why I have reservations about this. Does that make sense?

Jack: Not really. Look, here's what I think.

Olivia: You're prepared to pay, how?

You bill us for any number of things.

Olivia: Such as?

Consultation, protocol, attending a meeting or conference.

Olivia: And then what happens?

We reimburse you for costs or issue a check for service to a parent company.

Olivia: All I have to do --

keep your expenses down.

Olivia: You don't mean ignore symptoms.

I didn't say that.

Olivia: That's what you're saying, fewer tests?

If there's justification.

Olivia: How much justification?

We leave that up to the doctors to draw the line.

Olivia: The lower I draw the line, the bigger my bonus check.

That seems fair. We only want to stay in business. Understand, doctor, this conversation never took place.

Olivia: Of course. I hope you'll understand that I don't sign anything unless I sleep on it.

That's only fair.

Olivia: I'll be in touch with you with my answer.

We really want you onboard.

Olivia: I don't foresee any problems.

Excellent. I'll expect your call.

Olivia: You heard him.

Alex: Yes.

Olivia: Is that it?

Alex: That's it.

Nikki: Well, hello.

Victor: What are you doing here?

Nikki: I could ask you the same thing.

Victor: I'm having a dinner date with our daughter.

Nikki: That's strange.

Victor: Why?

Nikki: So am I.

I'm glad your outlook improved, Tricia. I do disagree with one thing you said. I don't believe it will take the rest of your life to find peace. It could happen quite soon, as long as you're willing to work for it. Yes, Marsha. One moment. Your father and Ryan are here. Do you want to see them?

Tricia: Yes, yes.

Send them in.

Keith: Hello, sweetheart.

Tricia: Dad. Ryan, it's good to see you.

Ryan: You too, Trish.

Keith: She looks terrific, doesn't she.

Tricia: Dad.

Ryan: Your dad's right. You look terrific.

Tricia: How's Philip?

Ryan: Good, good. He's in L.A., spending time with Nina.

Tricia: Tell him I said hello.

Ryan: I will. There's another reason I'm here. Now that you're feeling so much better, I think there's a matter we need to resolve.

Tricia: Our divorce.

Ryan: Are you okay talking about this?

Tricia: We need to clear the air.

Ryan: We do.

Tricia: Dr. Burns said that it's important that I talk about how I feel. When I think about our marriage ending, it makes me feel sad. I wasn't a good wife, and I know that. There were so many times that I could have done the right thing and I didn't. The right thing to do now is to let you go, so that's what I'm going to do. Do you have something for me to sign?

Ryan: There you go. You can look it over.

Ryan: Thank you.

Tricia: Well, I guess this really does mean I'm moving on, huh?

It's a big step, Tricia. You should be very proud of yourself.

Tricia: I am. And the next step is for me to get out of here.

Keith: Sweetheart, it will be wonderful to have you home. When you are ready.

Tricia: No dad, you don't understand, I am ready. I am checking myself out of the hospital today.
