Brittany: You're kidding, right?

Mackenzie: No, Brittany, I couldn't be more serious.

Billy: Mac, you really want to be on camera this summer?

Mackenzie: Exactly.

Brittany: Why?

Mackenzie: I saw how much fun you had last year and I wanted to be part of it.

Billy: Mac, I thought you were –

Mackenzie: Camera shy?

Billy: Yeah.

Mackenzie: It's time to get over it this year and not worry about it.

Billy: I don't know if that's a good idea.

Mackenzie: Will your family have a problem with it?

Billy: No, they will be fine.

Mackenzie: It'll be fantastic. Don't you think?

Billy: Yeah.

Mackenzie: What's the matter, Brittany? You're looking a little green.

Jill: Okay. You got me here. This better be good.

Jack: Hello to you too.

Jill: Save the pleasantries. I don't like to be threatened.

Jack: And you came anyway. You feeling insecure? It wasn't too long ago you did me a so-called favor and I promised to pay you back.

Jill: For what?

Jack: Have you forgotten the day that you saved me from Phyllis?

Jill: Oh, for the -- is that why you dragged me over here?

Jack: You damn near destroyed a promising relationship.

Jill: We'll see about that.

Jack: Yes, we will, no thanks to you.

Jill: Are you telling me you're still on the warpath about that?

Jack: No, not anymore. Now that I have the ammo to blow you out of the water.

Jill: Have you been drinking, Jack?

Jack: No, although I have to admit a bottle of champagne would go with this moment.

Jill: Would you please get to the point?

Jack: The cat's out of the bag. I know about you and Sean.

Victor: I did not mean to upset you.

Sharon: You're saying you know my husband better than I do.

Victor: You think when it comes to Newman Enterprises I would know better than anyone what he's capable of? He likes both assignments.

Sharon: Both of them.

Victor: It was not my idea he take on both assignments, all right? But he's fascinated by both of them.

Sharon: That's not what he told me.

Victor: Because he made you a promise. He didn't want to break it.

Sharon: You're saying he would rather put the expansion on hold only if I gave him permission.

Victor: Exactly.

Sharon: Why wouldn't he ask me?

Victor: Because he doesn't want you to feel pressured.

Sharon: Obviously that's not a problem for you.

Victor: I'm simply here to tell you what your husband's preferences are.

Sharon: I don't think it's what Nicholas wants. I think it's about what you want.

Nikki: Honey, if you need to go to work, go ahead. I'll tell your father to call you if he comes back up here, which he may not. He clearly wants nothing to do with me as possible.

Nicholas: I'm sorry I put you in the middle of this Larry Warton situation.

Nikki: I promised to help.

Nicholas: I'm glad you found him a job, but if you hadn't things would be a whole lot better between you and Dad.

Nikki: Maybe, maybe not. Eventually.

Nicholas: Maybe Larry can stay on the right track and Dad will chill out a little bit.

Nikki: Your father chill out? I don't think so.

Nicholas: Yeah, you're right. Well, I’m going to talk to Dad and see if I can get him to back off a little.

Nikki: Honey, don't bother. Just focus on your own life. I'm really proud of you sacrificing your plans for the coffee house to help Sharon.

Nicholas: I want to help you and Dad too.

Nikki: I know you do. Your father and I will always have issues. If it wasn't Larry Warton, it would be something else.

Nicholas: But –

Nikki: But nothing. We've muddled through up to now and we will just keep muddling. Go to work. Talk to you later.

Nicholas: I love you, Mom.

Nikki: I love you, too.

Malcolm: Mr. Checkitive.

Neil: Hey, Malcolm, what are you doing here?

Malcolm: Dropped some proofs off downstairs, was in the neighborhood and thought I’d come by.

Neil: I can only spare a couple of minutes too. How you been?

Malcolm: Not bad, not bad. I haven't been this excited about the last day of school since I was a shorty myself.

Neil: Talking about the promise you made Olivia filing the papers until after school was over?

Malcolm: That's right. Nate is upset about me not making it to the parent-teacher softball game.

Neil: Mamie told me you have been seeing Nate behind her back. Don't you think that's a little dangerous? What if she finds out?

Malcolm: She almost did, Neil.

Neil: Did she? When?

Malcolm: Couple weeks ago at the coffee house. Mamie and I planned an accidental encounter. Everything was cool until sure enough, Olivia came marching in.

Neil: What happened? Mamie got Nate out of there in time. Of course, Olivia and I exchanged words like we always do.

Neil: A little piece of advice okay, man? Stay away from her. I don't want your big mouth to get you in trouble.

Malcolm: Lose the battle, win the war?

Neil: Exactly. Right now things are going according to plan. Don't blow it.

Alex: Excuse me, Dr. Kimbrough?

Dr. Kimbrough: Yes.

Alex: My name's Alex Perez. I'm an attorney. I was hoping you could help me. I want to talk to you about certain practices of Lawson Medical. I have some questions.

Dr. Kimbrough: You're from Newman Enterprises?

Alex: Why do you ask?

Dr. Kimbrough: I'm aware there's a litigation going on.

Alex: You heard.

Dr. Kimbrough: Yes, I did. I don't think I should be sitting here with you.

Alex: I'm sure you feel as I do that patients deserve the best medical care. I believe they should get it. I believe doctors should give care, not withhold it.

Dr. Kimbrough: What are you implying?

Alex: I just want to talk to you.

Dr. Kimbrough: I'm sorry. I can’t.

Alex: Doctor, please don't leave.

Dr. Kimbrough: I have to go.

Victor: I want you to understand that this is not about what I want.

Sharon: Yes, it is.

Victor: No, it isn’t.

Sharon: You never accepted your son's decision to do something on his own.

Victor: That's not true. I am extremely proud of both of you, what you have done with these coffee houses.

Sharon: Yet you put these two very tempting projects in front of him. If only he could do one right after the other.

Victor: That's not possible.

Sharon: You designed it that way.

Victor: Because your husband is qualified for both projects. It's as simple as it is. I've taught him well. He wants to handle these projects, no one else, okay? He knows he and his sister one day will take over Newman Enterprises and I want Nicholas to be ready.

Sharon: You're twisting my arm.

Victor: I'm simply asking you to look at it from a different perspective. Trust me, this would be an excellent experience.

Sharon: That's my point exactly. You should let Nicholas decide for himself.

Victor: I'm trying to convince you this is the right decision. Anyway, look at it from my point of view or a different point of view. All I’m asking of you is you support your husband in case he makes the decision to take on both projects.

Sharon: I promise you that I am going to speak to Nicholas about this.

Victor: You have a nice day.

Mackenzie: You're okay with this, aren't you, Brittany?

Brittany: Sure. I'm just surprised, after all this time you want to be on camera.

Mackenzie: You're the reason I came up with the idea.

Brittany: Me?

Mackenzie: Yeah. You said you and Billy working together would create really good drama, a couple that broke up, trying to be friends.

Brittany: What does that have to do with you?

Mackenzie: What would make it really interesting is if Billy's new girlfriend were there, too.

Brittany: You're right about that, Mac. That definitely would make it more interesting.

Billy: Mac, you being camera shy was not the only thing that kept you behind the scenes last summer.

Mackenzie: I know. All of that has been taken care of. Don't worry.

Billy: It has?

Mackenzie: Yeah.

Billy: Listen, let's head back to my house. We can talk more.

Mackenzie: Okay. Bye, Brittany.

Billy: See ya.

Malcolm: Neil, I hear you, man, I do. I don't want to ruin my chances in court. For now I will keep it low profile.

Neil: What about Nate?

Malcolm: Look, I don't like the fact that I have to stay away from my son, but the end is in sight. With any luck it's only a matter of time that my judgment will come through to let me see my son. I think I can hold off until then.

Neil: Good. I'm glad to hear it. In the meantime, you have Alex to keep you company while you wait.

Malcolm: Yes, I do. She's a beautiful distraction at that.

Neil: Have you popped the question to her?

Malcolm: No, I'm kind of doing a little dance around that one.

Neil: While you were dancing, did you manage to pick up an engagement ring?

Malcolm: Not yet, not yet. I did manage to do some shopping at some jewelry stores.

Neil: What's that big smile about?

Malcolm: She amazes me. I learn something new about that lady every day. The more I learn about her, the more she blows me away.

Neil: Any big surprises?

Malcolm: Put it this way, you wouldn't know it by looking at her, Neil, but that woman has come a long way in her life. Growing up her family didn't have a lot of money. Not that you and I were living large as kids, but I think her situation was really bad.

Neil: That must be why she's so dedicated to this HMO case. She wants to fight for people who can't fight for themselves.

Malcolm: And on top of that has looks that can kill. I'm not mad at that lady at all.

Alex: Hello, Olivia.

Olivia: Alex, what a surprise.

Alex: I'm here on business.

Olivia: You have a busy schedule. Don't let me keep you. Something I can do for you?

Alex: I understand you asked Malcolm to postpone the visitation hearing.

Olivia: That's right. I was concerned the stress would affect my son's schooling.

Olivia: I don't want to talk about my son with you. But since you did bring up Malcolm, how are the two of you doing? Have you managed to take your relationship beyond the stage that everything is casual and fun?

Alex: I didn't realize the word "fun" was in your vocabulary.

Olivia: If you're getting serious about Malcolm, you should take my advice. Before you get too deep, look beyond the handsome exterior.

Alex: I'll keep that in mind.

Olivia: The integrity and character in that family went to his brother.

Alex: I'm surprised you still think highly of Neil.

Olivia: Neil is a good man. Believe me, Alex, I've been in your shoes. In the beginning it's a fairy tale with Malcolm. Once you're past his blinding charm and good looks, watch out. You will see the real Malcolm Winters.

Alex: I'm not under the illusion that Malcolm is a perfect person. The only one lying is you, Olivia. You're so confident you know what's right and what's wrong.

Olivia: I'm sure being a lawyer you'll tell me it's all relative, all values and morals.

Alex: Not everything is cut and dried. You think you have the corner on truth no matter how many people disagree with you. I can promise you this: If the Bible was right about pride going before fall, then you're in for a big one.

Nikki: If you're looking for Nicholas, he left.

Victor: What do you mean he left?

Nikki: He was anxious to get to the office. He did fill me in though.

Victor: So you know.

Nikki: About his concern for Sharon, yes. I'm glad he reached out to you for help.

Victor: Are you?

Nikki: After all, like you said, our children are our last remaining link.

Victor: We're always worried about the children. That's part of the territory. I have to be going.

Nikki: Victor, wait a minute. Why does it have to be this way? Why must there be this wall between us?

Billy: All right. New rule. From now on when we're in my car, I'm in charge of the radio.

Mackenzie: Did I turn it up too loud? It's a good song.

Billy: Remind me to buy you the CD. Then you can listen to it all you want with the headphones on.

Mackenzie: I got a little carried away.

Billy: Yeah.

Mackenzie: I can't help it. I'm in a good mood.

Billy: Obviously. What's the deal?

Mackenzie: Because I'm going to let the world know I'm crazy about Billy Abbott.

Billy: Mac, what about your mom? This is a huge promotion. She's bound to find out.

Mackenzie: I'm not worried. The most amazing thing happened.

Billy: What?

Mackenzie: When I got home, I was upset about Brittany.

Billy: Part of the summer campaign?

Mackenzie: I wasn't mad at you. I wish there was some way I could spend all summer with you.

Billy: So you have an idea.

Mackenzie: My grandma did. Billy, it's so cool. Because of her, I'm free from my mom, just like that.

Billy: How?

Mackenzie: She talked to her lawyer and she's filing papers to be my legal guardian. Isn't that awesome? I'm free from my mom.

Billy: For real?

Mackenzie: Nothing but a formality left.

Billy: Mac, that's awesome! Congratulations!

Jack: What's going on between you and our cyber stud?

Jill: You need to know?

Jack: I was picking up signals for some time around. You were probably chasing around the poor guy until yesterday I saw you and Sean swapping spit. You could be a lot more discreet.

Jill: You know what? I do not need to explain myself.

Jack: Perhaps you don't need to explain what I next saw, the two of you leaving together hand in hand.

Jill: You're spying on me? What did you do, turn into a Peeping Tom?

Jack: I didn't see you leave but glad you didn't deny it. Katherine is fascinated by your adventures. Has she met your new boy toy?

Jill: That's it. You called Katherine. She told you I didn't come home last night.

Jack: I wish I had thought of that. Thanks for the info. This is more than a little play date you're having with the young tyke. This is a full out roll in the hay. You would be making a big mistake to ignore me now.

Jill: You act like this is some kind of weapon, Jack. What are you going to do?

Jack: Nothing. I'm going to give you another chance.

Jill: How do I spare myself?

Jack: You stay away from Mackenzie Browning.

Jill: What does she have to do with this?

Jack: I know you're telling everybody you don't care they're back together. You're not fooling anybody. You hate that sweet, innocent girl as much as you always have. Am I wrong?

Sharon: Hi, honey.

Nicholas: Hi, good looking. I didn't know you were coming in here.

Sharon: I just had a visit with your father. I wanted to talk to you right away.

Nicholas: What did he say?

Sharon: He had all sorts of reasons to work on both those projects. I don't know why you can't work on one, concentrate on Crimson Lights for a while and work on the other.

Nicholas: He's up against the clock.

Sharon: If he tried, he could get an extension.

Nicholas: I've been working these numbers on our expansion plan.

Sharon: Oh, wow. That's great. Look at all this information.

Nicholas: There's a lot involved, especially since we're talking about going out of state. I really underestimated how much time I have to stay away from home. We're talking two new coffee houses. Between construction, training new managers and distribution, I'll be spending half my life on the road.

Sharon: That much. We're just going to have to make sacrifices and do what we need to do.

Nicholas: I'm wondering if the timing is right. We were apart for so long. I just got home.

Sharon: What are you saying? You don't think that I can deal with things on my own? That if you leave, I won't be able to keep it together?

Olivia: Don't worry, the coast is clear.

Dr. Kimbrough: Sorry, Olivia.

Olivia: You were looking for Alex Perez?

Dr. Kimbrough: You know her?

Olivia: Unfortunately. She left a couple minutes ago.

Dr. Kimbrough: That's a relief.

Olivia: Sit down. I hope you don't think I'm prying but what were you two talking about?

Dr. Kimbrough: She's representing Newman Enterprises and they filed suit against Lawson Medical.

Olivia: She's badgering you because you're working for them?

Dr. Kimbrough: She tried, but I didn't let her get to me. Lawyers, always waiting for you to make a false move.

Olivia: False move?

Dr. Kimbrough: I've about had it with Lawson. It would serve them right if I did spill my guts.

Olivia: About what?

Nikki: Why are you looking at me as if I said something ridiculous?

Victor: Are you seriously asking me this question?

Nikki: Yes.

Victor: You have no idea why there's this wall between us?

Nikki: Victor, we've been so close. We've shared so much and now it's like ice.

Victor: And you don't know why.

Nikki: I know you don't agree with some of the things I've done.

Victor: No kidding. No kidding.

Nikki: You've meant more to me than anybody in my entire life. I don't know why you have to treat me like the enemy.

Victor: Stop all of this sentimental crap. Last summer, do I need to remind you, you invest $35 million to save the business of a man I despise? Then I warn you about that Larry Warton fellow. He's a felon. What do you do? You defy me.

Nikki: I did not defy you.

Victor: What do you call it?

Nikki: What's done is done.

Victor: And you wonder why there's a wall between us. Have you forgotten your involvement with Diane Jenkins' baby? That baby's here because of you. You know that.

Nikki: Victor, I admit I made serious errors in judgment. I regret that. I just don't know why that makes you have to hate me.

Malcolm: You know, Neil, it's actually kind of funny. With everything that Alex has going for her, she can still be as vain and insecure as half the models I work with.

Neil: I haven't seen that side of her.

Malcolm: This morning we're talking about prom photos, right? I told her how goofy I looked. Remember the jerry curl look I had going on? I asked if I could see her prom pictures. Out of nowhere she's all edgy and short with me. I back up. What is it? Is it a female thing?

Neil: I don't know. It might be another answer.

Malcolm: Oh, yeah? Like what?

Neil: You said money was tight when she was growing up, right? Prom dresses aren't cheap. Maybe she couldn't afford to go.

Malcolm: You think?

Neil: Do I think? Prom's a big deal for most people, especially girls. I bet you stirred up some old feelings in her.

Malcolm: Yo, man, you might be on to something. Sure everybody is embarrassed when they look at old photos. I think there's more to it. Now I feel bad. Neil, I feel like I took my size 12 and put it deep up in my mouth.

Neil: It's an honest mistake. I'm sure Alex doesn't hold it against you.

Malcolm: I hope not. Once again I have to give it to you. This is the second time you done bailed me out. I have to pay you for your insight. I have to pay you for being my love doctor.

Neil: Cash money, no checks. [Phone ringing] Neil Winters. I'll be there. Sorry, my man, I have to take care of something.

Malcolm: Can I kick it for a minute? I want to check my messages.

Neil: You do what you want.

Malcolm: Yo, Neil.

Neil: Yeah.

Malcolm: Thank you. Alex really means a lot to me. I don't want to do anything to mess it up.

Neil: I know.

Jill: Jack, why are we wasting time talking about Mackenzie Browning? I said I'd let her work behind the scenes this summer. I admit I'm not thrilled she and Billy are back together. My relationship with my son is way too important to jeopardize it again by getting between her and Billy.

Jack: See that you don't. I mean it, you get in her way, you cause her any trouble at all, I will play the Sean card.

Jill: The Sean card?! What will you tell him? I have no secrets from Sean.

Jack: I wasn't talking about telling him.

Jill: Who then?

Jack: Phyllis. She doesn't know the extent of your relationship. I guarantee you she would.

Jill: That's supposed to scare me? She will find out eventually.

Jack: When she does, she will be in a very influential position.

Jill: How?

Jack: You think I'm vengeful. We know how impulsive Phyllis is. We both know she and Sean have a bit of history together. Now I could restrain her impulses or I could just let her loose, see how creative she wants to be in using this against you.

Alex: We have to stop meeting this way.

Malcolm: Hey, beautiful. Am I glad to see you.

Alex: We just saw each other an hour ago.

Malcolm: I can't stand being away that long. I'm weak in the knees. I need a doctor. I'll tell you what it is though.

Alex: What?

Malcolm: I can't get enough of this beautiful little face of yours, these beautiful eyes and definitely can't get enough of these luscious lips. What?

Alex: You are a man of great strength.

Malcolm: Says who?

Alex: Not me, necessarily. With Olivia. I ran into her at the hospital. I'm telling you, I don't know how you do it. That woman has such an attitude.

Malcolm: Did she hassle you?

Alex: A little.

Malcolm: I want to give her a piece of my mind something awful.

Alex: But you can't.

Malcolm: I have to keep it cool while this visitation thing is going on.

Alex: It's hard now but it'll be worth it in the end.

Malcolm: I hope so.

Alex: I have to talk to your brother.

Malcolm: You just missed him. I don't know when he's coming back.

Alex: That's okay. I'll just leave him a note. Any particular reason you're here?

Malcolm: Maybe.

Alex: More of that top secret stuff?

Malcolm: You know what? Y'all lawyers ask way too many questions.

Alex: Because you don't give me any answers.

Malcolm: Don't worry your head.

Alex: I can get it out of you.

Malcolm: You could if I were on the witness stand but I'm not. You have a beautiful day and I'm going to be like Casper the ghost and get lost.

Alex: Malcolm, you can tell me.

Malcolm: Bye.

Alex: Malcolm.

Victor: You want to be just friends.

Nikki: Why not? We've been everything else to each other. We've been married, divorced, lovers, enemies. From the moment we met, there was always an emotional agenda.

Victor: Now you think we should be friends.

Nikki: Yes. After all that we've shared and still share, the feelings I have for you and I think you still have for me. Victor, I know you're going to say that's over. Things have happened. It's time to put that part of our lives behind us. Fine. We'll move on. Why can't we move on as friends? Isn't that better than being enemies?

Victor: Why the hell do you do these things? Why do you do these things?

Nicholas: Baby, of course I didn't mean it that way. I know you'd be fine if we were apart. You can do anything. You're amazing.

Sharon: I hope you're not just saying that because I really am fine.

Nicholas: I know you're fine, okay? I'm sorry. But I have to go to work. I'll see you tonight, all right? You are so fine. And you're mine.

[Sharon screaming and sounds of struggle]

Matt: No, no. You're not going anywhere, sweetheart. You hear me? I've waited too long for this. It's payback time.

Sharon: God, when will this nightmare be over? When?

Brittany: There you are. I've been looking all over for you.

Jill: What is it, Brittany?

Brittany: I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first?

Jill: Good news. I can use all I can get now.

Brittany: I talked Billy into being part of the Glow by Jabot House this summer.

Jill: That is good news. What's the bad news?

Brittany: Mackenzie wants to be in front of the camera this time. You don't look surprised.

Jill: Mackenzie used something to her advantage.

Brittany: What?

Jill: Forget it.

Brittany: No, I'm not going to forget it.

Jill: Excuse me?

Brittany: Last year Mackenzie was scared to death to be on camera. Maybe you can still use it. Come on, Mrs. Abbott. What's Mackenzie’s little secret?

Mackenzie: I could stay like this forever.

Billy: Yeah, me too. Mac, can I ask you something?

Mackenzie: Sure.

Billy: Well, it's about your mom.

Mackenzie: What about my mom?

Billy: Well, you never told me why you ran away. I'm sorry. None of my business.

Mackenzie: It's just I've kept it in for so long.

Billy: Mac, you don't have to be afraid. I'm here for you.

Mackenzie: I know. You're right. I think it's time that I told you what happened.
