[Phone ringing]
Mackenzie: Hello, Chancellor residence.
Billy: Hey, beautiful.
Mackenzie: I was just going to call you.
Both: I want to see you.
Billy: What do you want to do? Do you want to come over here? Do you want me to go over there?
Mackenzie: Maybe I should go over to your house.
Billy: Right away?
Mackenzie: Sooner.
Billy: Cool. I'll be waiting.
Mackenzie: Okay. Bye.
Billy: Bye.
Katherine: Well, what was that all about?
Paul: Good morning, Lynne.
Lynne: Hi. Good, you made coffee. Isabella is sleeping in?
Paul: You want a cup?
Lynne: Sure. Is she upset with what happened last night?
Paul: I'm sorry. I don't know what you are talking about.
Lynne: I wasn't feeling well but I can tell she wasn't thrilled with the news.
Paul: You sleep all right?
Lynne: I just needed a good night’s sleep.
Paul: That's good news.
Lynne: Paul, what is it? Something's obviously bugging you. You want to talk about it?
Paul: No, I’m okay. I just -- it feels like my life is slipping out of control, and there's nothing I can do about it.
[Knock on door]
Malcolm: Yo!
Neil: Hey, Malcolm.
Malcolm: Hey, yourself. I got those prints you want.
Neil: I could have sent a messenger to pick them up.
Malcolm: I wanted to thank you in person.
Neil: For what?
Malcolm: I took your advice last night. I dropped the fancy-schmancy plans I was making and made cozy plans with Alex. Neil, you're the man. You made the call.
Neil: What did you do?
Malcolm: Relaxed. Talked. It was comfortable.
Neil: Glad it worked out for you two.
Malcolm: It did, thanks for your advice. I have to come to you for advice more often, Dr. Lady Love.
Katherine: Judging by the look on your face, young lady, it appears to be a very good day.
Mackenzie: The best.
Katherine: Hmm, the best. What happened?
Mackenzie: Life is great again.
Katherine: Does this have to do with J.T.?
Mackenzie: No, Billy.
Katherine: Billy, no. Would you care to explain that?
Mackenzie: We're back together again. We had this big talk and sorted everything out.
Katherine: Last time we talked you said there was no way that you and Billy could solve your problem.
Mackenzie: We're all done. It's so incredible. I'm sorry I have to run out but I'm going to meet Billy at his house. I'll see you before dinner, okay? I love you.
Katherine: I love you.
Jack: Hey, top of the morning, kiddo.
Billy: You got that right.
Jack: So what's going on?
Phyllis: You know I’m going to grab something to eat at Gina’s.
Jack: You don't have to leave.
Phyllis: It's okay. I'll talk to you later, all right?
Billy: I didn't mean for her to split on my account.
Jack: She's fine. I take it this terrific mood of yours has something to do with that notorious elevator kiss?
Billy: Everybody knows, huh?
Jack: Just family and a few close friends.
Billy: My mom in particular. Of all people that had to be standing there when the doors opened.
Jack: I take it you and Mac are an item again.
Billy: We worked out our problems. I don't forget you called me over to Jabot. You're part of this reunion.
Jack: I may have something to do with it. Raul and Rianna said you had to talk. Obviously, they were right.
Billy: Whose idea was it to lock us up in the elevator?
Jill: What?
Katherine: What do you mean, what?
Jill: The moment I walked in the room you two clammed up. You can't fool me. I know what you two magpies were chatting about. The fact my son can't seem to learn from his past mistakes.
Katherine: I hope you have enough good sense not to threaten Mackenzie.
Jill: I don't know what you're babbling about.
Katherine: Everything is out in the open now. I'm telling you something -- no, I am warning you. Don't you ever think of terrorizing that child again.
Jack: The truth is the elevator was Phyllis's idea.
Billy: Really. Wow. That's pretty cool of her. I'll be sure to thank her.
Jack: Don't do it too publicly. I don't want her on the family firing line as much as she is.
Billy: You mean my mom.
Jack: You have to take Jill into account. She is your mother and she is not going anywhere. That is a fact.
Billy: No one is coming between Mac and me ever again.
Jack: Don't rub your romance in her face.
Billy: Jack, what can I do? We're going to be out of school for the summer. Mom's going to see us together all the time.
Jack: You definitely want Mackenzie working with us.
Billy: One way or the other we are going to be together. No more sneaking around. You and I know what happened. It was a complete disaster.
Jack: Brittany stopped by Jabot after you and Mackenzie left. Your mother told her everything. I mean everything.
Billy: Well, I’m sorry Mom dropped the bomb on her. I'm not sweating Brittany's feelings.
Jack: You think she should suffer a bit?
Billy: You don't?
Jack: There are enough people that have problems with your relationship with Mackenzie. A piece of brotherly advice: don't make it worse.
Billy: What do you mean?
Jack: Be cool for your sake and Mac’s. We know what Brittany is capable of when she's backed into a corner.
Billy: What are you suggesting?
Jack: I suggest you do what you can to disarm her.
Rianna: There you go.
Raul: Thanks.
Rianna: How do you feel this morning?
Raul: Fine. I hope you have medical training in your future with all the fussing you do over me.
Rianna: You will be my only patient. Did you talk to Billy?
Raul: I'm dying to find out what happened in that elevator.
Rianna: Maybe no news is good news.
J.T.: Hey, guys. Have either of you seen Mac?
Raul: Not since yesterday, why?
J.T.: I'm worried about her. In case you're wondering, she's forgiven me for not telling her what's on the tape. We're fine.
Rianna: What are you worried about then?
J.T.: I'm worried she will get crazy over Abbott again after seeing what's on that tape. But I don't have to tell you guys that do I?
Phyllis: Hi, counselor.
Alex: Hi.
Phyllis: Phyllis, Malcolm's friend.
Alex: I remember.
Phyllis: How is the legal profession treating you?
Alex: Well -- very well, thank you.
Phyllis: I find it fascinating what people do for a living. I think it takes a certain kind of personality to be a lawyer.
Alex: So they say.
Phyllis: What's wrong?
Alex: I'm not sure. You tell me.
Phyllis: What do you mean?
Alex: You obviously have something on your mind, Phyllis.
Phyllis: Yes, I do. It's simple, really. Remember the other day I told you I wanted to get to know you better? That's what I'm doing. Malcolm is very important to me and I want to know all about the special woman.
Lynne: Your life's out of control? Paul, what happened?
[Phone ringing]
Paul: Hello. Yeah, this is Paul Williams. What? So what are you going to do? Well, I’m sorry too. Okay. Thanks for letting me know.
Lynne: Problems?
Paul: That was the landlord from the building where I rented the apartment for Isabella. As it turns out, the current tenants decided to stay.
Lynne: Paul, there are plenty of places out there. I know you want this move to happen quickly.
Paul: That was yesterday. There's no rush now.
Lynne: What about Chris?
Paul: She is taking a job in Australia, and she isn't back until fall, at the earliest.
Lynne: Oh, no. Paul, I know she was upset about Isabella, but didn't you tell her you were moving her out?
Paul: It didn't make a difference. She turned the whole thing around on me.
Lynne: What do you mean?
Paul: Lynne, I don't really want to talk about it. We don't see eye to eye where Chris is concerned anyway.
Lynne: I'll get to the office. I'll see you when you get there.
Neil: Well, Malcolm, it sounds like your evening was a big success.
Malcolm: It was the first time in ages I opened up like that, Neil. I told that woman some things I buried real deep.
Neil: All your secrets?
Malcolm: Don't get ahead of yourself. I didn't open up like that. I let her take a peek at the real Malcolm Winters. She turned around and opened up herself. I have to give it to you, you had that girl pegged.
Neil: It surprises me that as long as you two have been together that you waited this long to have this talk.
Malcolm: Neil, we've had our ups and downs. It hasn't been the smoothest ride. None of that matters anymore. It just keeps getting better and better.
Neil: Mind if I ask you a question?
Malcolm: Sure, what's up?
Neil: Are both you and Alex committed to this relationship?
Alex: Phyllis, don't you believe in the old saying, what you see is what you get?
Phyllis: I'm sure there's much more to Alex Perez than meets the eye.
Alex: What do you really want to know, Phyllis?
Phyllis: Everything.
Alex: Then be patient. One day I’ll publish my memoirs.
Phyllis: Listen, Alex, you can talk to me. I'm not going to bite you.
Alex: Why don't you ask Malcolm how much I really care about him? That's what you want, isn't it?
Phyllis: I care about Malcolm platonically, of course. I'm in another relationship.
Alex: Your other relationship doesn't stand in the way of you being possessive of your male friend?
Phyllis: I look after those I care about, male or female.
Alex: I suspect you're the type of woman with plenty of male friends, very few females, right?
[Doorbell sounding]
Billy: Hey, you have to be careful you don't bruise the merchandise.
Mackenzie: Miss me?
Billy: Like crazy. I didn't think you'd ever get here.
Mackenzie: We have been apart for less than a day.
Billy: It seems like months.
Mackenzie: Me too.
Billy: I still can't believe this is happening. I don't think they have invented words to describe how I’m feeling.
Mackenzie: You don't need words. I know exactly how you feel. Same way as I do.
Billy: So, Jack's been pretty cool about the whole thing.
Mackenzie: Good, I’m glad.
Billy: Yeah. I am worried, though.
Mackenzie: About your mom?
Billy: And Brittany. She knows too.
Mackenzie: How did she take it?
Billy: Well, Jack didn't get into details, but I don't think she took it that well.
Mackenzie: Surprise, surprise.
Billy: Yeah. Well, you know what? I don't care. She's not my problem anymore. Chances are she'll latch on to somebody new.
Mackenzie: I wouldn't doubt it.
Billy: I have a guy in mind.
Mackenzie: Who?
Billy: J.T. don’t you think they make a perfect match?
Mackenzie: J.T.? No way. He's way too good for her.
Rianna: No, J.T. We haven't seen Mac or Billy.
J.T.: If you see her, tell her I’m looking for her, okay?
Raul: Sure.
Rianna: If he knew what we set up in the elevator.
Raul: He wouldn't be too happy. That's for sure.
Rianna: He seems to be genuinely concerned about Mac.
Raul: You surprised?
Rianna: J.T. Finally fell for a girl. It just happens to be one he doesn't stand a chance with.
Brittany: Hi.
J.T.: Hey, Brit, what's going on?
J.T.: This and that.
Brittany: This and that.
J.T.: Have you seen Mac?
Brittany: You sound concerned.
J.T.: What if I am?
Brittany: Yesterday you were so sure everything would be fine. What now? You afraid Mac will go back to Billy?
J.T.: Who said anything about Billy?
Brittany: You are so transparent. How could you possibly be doubting yourself now?
J.T.: You know something, don't you?
Brittany: They're together again.
J.T.: What?
Brittany: Mac and Billy. They kissed and made up.
[Doorbell sounding]
Sean: Good morning. Esther, isn't it?
Esther: You remembered my name.
Sean: May I come in?
Esther: Sure. I mean, yes, sir. Please come in.
Sean: Good morning, ladies.
Katherine: Yes, well, Esther, we have some shopping to do. Now.
Esther: Yes, ma'am.
Jill: Well, this is a surprise. What brings you by so early?
Sean: I wanted to see how you were doing this morning.
Jill: Not very well, I’m afraid.
Sean: Sorry to hear that.
Jill: If this turn of events weren't bad enough, I have to listen to Katherine rub it in. You warned me if I overreacted, I would lose my son and you're right.
Sean: You're letting it get to you again.
Jill: It's not in my nature to do nothing.
Sean: It's a high school romance. What is it between you and Mac anyway?
Jill: I don't know. Maybe it's that she's the granddaughter of the person I like least in this world. All I know is when she first walked into this house, I had a natural aversion to her. Maybe she wasn't the gold digger I once thought she was. She's Katherine’s granddaughter.
Sean: What is the problem?
Jill: When John and I divorced and he told me he was moving to New York.
Sean: Maybe it wasn't that easy for you.
Jill: It was one of my most difficult decisions in my life, allowing Billy to go with him. I second-guessed it for years. Every time I went to visit my son in New York, I could feel less and less connected to him.
Sean: Distance will do that.
Jill: I know. But the one hope that I had was that when he grew older, our relationship would improve. Only it didn’t. It just got worse. But this wonderful thing happened. John sent Billy here for a visit, and he was supposed to spend the whole summer here with me. I knew I had this mountain to climb. But oh, my God, I was willing to do anything, anything to break down the walls between us. And just as it was about to happen, in walks Mackenzie. And she finds a way to come in between Billy and me. And in one way or another, she managed to drive us further and further apart. And it's happening again, and I don't know what to do. You don't understand. You just think that I'm losing it, don't you?
Isabella: Good morning.
Paul: Good morning. I hope Lynne and I didn't wake you up with our little discussion.
Isabella: I was awake anyway.
Paul: Restless night? Yeah. Me, too. Look, there's no easy way to say this so I'm going to throw it out there.
Isabella: If you're talking about our kiss --
Paul: It was a horrible mistake.
Isabella: It was.
Paul: It was totally unprofessional. It's inexcusable of me to take advantage of you when you were in such a vulnerable state.
Isabella: Was I the only vulnerable one?
Paul: Okay. I was upset too. But that's no excuse. I'm sorry.
Isabella: Paul, I'm not the least bit offended. As far as I'm concerned, it was just a kiss. Quite frankly, one that I enjoyed. There's absolutely no reason for you to feel bad about anything.
Paul: I appreciate you making it easy for me. Still, Isabella, I crossed the line.
Isabella: Paul, there's no harm done. So tell me about this apartment you found me. Should I be packing?
Paul: Well, it turns out that's the other thing. That fell through. The landlord called me this morning.
Isabella: Does this mean you're going to start looking for another place right away? I mean, since Christine isn't coming home, is it necessary for me to move out? I feel safe and comfortable here. If I had a choice, Paul, I'd love to stay.
Billy: I can't believe you said that.
Mackenzie: Why? I wouldn't want J.T. to get mixed up with Brittany.
Billy: They make a perfect couple.
Mackenzie: She may suck him in if she turns up the heat.
Billy: You think J.T. changed.
Mackenzie: He has changed.
Billy: No way. He's still the same jerk he's always been.
Mackenzie: Maybe if you got to know him better.
Billy: That's exactly what I don't want to do. It drove me up a wall when I saw you with him.
Mackenzie: That's how I felt about you and Brittany.
Billy: J.T. can't be trusted any more than she can. Even now, it's not easy thinking about you spending time with him.
Mackenzie: We were just friends, Billy, nothing more.
Billy: Well, as of now, as far as J.T.'s concerned, out of sight, out of mind. Okay? You're not thinking of staying friends with him, are you?
Mackenzie: Billy, J.T. isn't the same guy he used to be. I really came to think of him as just a friend. You know what? If it really bothers you, I'll stay away from him.
Billy: You mean it?
Mackenzie: Of course I do. Nothing is worth messing up what we have. I have to admit though, I don't know how he's going to take this news.
Billy: What are you trying to tell me?
Mackenzie: Just that. I hope that I can break it to him gently.
Billy: Well, I'm sure he'll be fine with it. Come on. Let's get out of here. I can't wait to tell Raul and Rianna the good news. Actually, I feel like screaming it out, letting the whole world hear!
Mackenzie: Really.
Billy: Are you listening world?! Billy and Mac are together again! And we are in love! Huh?! Are you listening?!
Mackenzie: You're crazy.
Paul: Well, it's true, Isabella, there's no rush for you to leave now. I want to wrap up your case. It's been delayed long enough. I'm not going to get the wrong people upset.
Isabella: I know you'll try not to.
Paul: You said you trusted me.
Isabella: I do.
Paul: Well then, I promise you that whatever I do will not be traced back to you or me. And it's time you were able to live your life again without constantly looking over your shoulder.
Isabella: Thank you for letting me stay here. You don't know how much I appreciate it. As far as your work on my case, I caution you again, be careful.
Paul: As always. Well, I better get to the office. Isabella, about that kiss, it never should have happened and for a lot of reasons. I promise you, it won't happen again.
Phyllis: What a strange thing to say.
Alex: Is it true?
Phyllis: Well, what can I say? I just attract more males than females.
Alex: There's nothing wrong with that.
Phyllis: I'm sure you get your fair share of men.
Alex: I never really thought about it.
Phyllis: Malcolm is one of the special ones.
Alex: Yes, he's a very special guy.
Phyllis: How special?
Alex: If you want a guarantee nobody will get hurt, that's not what a relationship is for.
Phyllis: I just don't want to see Malcolm suffer.
Alex: That sounds almost like a threat.
Phyllis: Oh, no, I'm not threatening you. I'm just glad to hear your relationship with Malcolm is a two-way street. If you haven't noticed, he has it bad for you.
Malcolm: Well yeah, Neil. Yeah, we're committed.
Neil: Ah, you and Alex actually talked about commitment?
Malcolm: No, not in so many words. We have been dating for how long, months? That says it all, doesn't it?
Neil: It's not how long you date but the quality that really counts.
Malcolm: Call off the dogs, okay? You actually have a little stake in this. Since you played a little bit of the cupid thing on this, you want to make sure everything goes cool, right? Neil, take it from me. The only cloud on the horizon is the one that's been there for a very long time now.
Neil: You talking about your son, Nate, right?
Malcolm: Yep. Believe this if you can. Olivia talked me into holding off serving them papers. She doesn't want me to lay anything more on Nate until the end of school.
Neil: You're thinking of waiting.
Malcolm: Well, I’m going to wait, for a couple weeks anyway. It's really too bad. Nate's going to be all the way bummed out that I can't go to the softball game for Teacher Appreciation Day. We had a ball last year.
Neil: Why don't you show up anyway?
Malcolm: I can't do that. If Olivia finds out, all hell will break loose. I am fighting that woman for visitation rights. Right now that's more important than a softball game.
Neil: You're worried, aren't you?
Malcolm: I'm scared to death. It comes down to a judge's decision. Is he going to hear what you and I and Nate have to say or will Michael Baldwin twist it around?
Neil: From what I heard, I don't think Olivia has a chance of winning.
Malcolm: That may seem the way it seems, but you and I both know it ain't over till it's over.
Neil: What about Alex? Does she offer any words of encouragement? Malcolm, did you hear what I said?
Malcolm: Yeah, yeah, I heard what you said. You know what? Alex might be the solution.
Neil: Alex is already helping you.
Malcolm: I'm talking something major, man, so major, it could seal the deal.
Neil: What are you talking about?
Malcolm: Marriage, Neil.
[Phone ringing]
Isabella: Hello.
Michael: If Paul's there say it's a wrong number and hang up.
Isabella: He left for the office.
Michael: Great, we can talk. You having a good day?
Isabella: Not really.
Michael: Chris isn't coming home.
Isabella: I know.
Michael: That's good news for you.
Isabella: At least Paul said I didn't have to move out right away.
Michael: Why aren't you happy? Was he upset when he learned about his wife's change in plans?
Isabella: Obviously.
Michael: Did you comfort him?
Isabella: I did my best.
Michael: Good girl. It sounds like the perfect time to make your move. Let's hear some enthusiasm, Isabella.
Isabella: I would be more determined if Paul wasn't so determined to solve my case as soon as possible and get on with life.
Michael: What I observed between you two, I wonder why he's in such a rush.
Isabella: Me, too.
Michael: Not to worry. How can he solve the problem with James if there's no problem in the first place?
Isabella: He's a good detective, Michael.
Michael: You're afraid he will find out it's all smoke and mirrors.
Isabella: Exactly.
Michael: I'll handle it.
Isabella: How will you do that?
Michael: You leave that to me. You keep doing what you're doing. While Paul concentrates wrapping up the case, you concentrate on wrapping up Paul. Bye.
Sean: No, Jill, I don't think you're losing it. You're smothering the kid. You are allowing Mackenzie to come between you and Billy.
Jill: Sean, what can I do?
Sean: Have you ever thought of embracing the relationship?
Jill: No. No, that is the one thing I will not do!
Sean: All right, all right, fine. But if you keep doing what you're doing, you're just going to push Billy away. Perhaps forever. And you're going to push Billy and Mac together even more. Those are the very two things you're trying to avoid here. Are you listening to me?
Jill: Yes. Yes, I’m hearing you loud and clear. Everything I have been doing has only been making it worse.
Sean: Exactly. I'll see you at the office.
Jill: Yeah. I'll be there soon. Sean is absolutely right. He is absolutely right. I have got to find a more subtle approach.
J.T.: Billy and Mac are together again, just like that.
Brittany: What were you saying the other day? Oh, yeah, there was no chance Mac would get together with Billy again.
J.T.: You said the same thing about Billy.
Brittany: Well, we were both wrong. What do we do now?
J.T.: There's nothing to do, Brit.
Brittany: It's not over, J.T. It's never going to be over. I can't believe you're not more upset about this.
J.T.: What do you want me to do, Brit, kill myself?
Brittany: You really have a thing for her, don't you?
J.T.: If they want to be together, they're going to be together.
Brittany: I'll tell you one thing, JT, you may be able to take this lying down, but I can’t. I am not going to get mad, I am going to get even, just watch me.
