[ Giggles ]
Christine: Well, I have to hand it to you. You certainly know how to pick 'em.
Paul: What, brides?
Christine: That, too, but i was referring to honeymoon locales. I mean, I've never even heard of nevis, but this island is beautiful, and the hotel is perfect.
Paul: And you, mrs. Williams... are perfect.
Christine: Thank you.
Nigel: Mr. And mrs. Williams.
Paul: Hi, nigel.
Nigel: Ah. For your picnic on the beach, our kitchen has prepared a selection of caribbean delicacies. I think you'll find both the food and the locale beyond compare.
Paul: Just like the company, huh?
Nigel: Indeed, sir.
Paul: Shall we?
Christine: Okay.
[ Indistinct conversations ]
Nigel: Just follow me.
Phyllis: Tim... the water's perfect. What are you waiting for? Come in.
Tim: Phyllis, I-I told you, i can't -- not with this thing on.
Phyllis: [ Scoffs ] Well, you don't have to go underwater. Just wade in a few feet.
Tim: I like sitting by the edge of the pool.
Phyllis: Uh-huh.
Tim: Besides, it's time.
Phyllis: It's time? It's time for what?
Tim: Drinks.
Phyllis: Wonderful. Maybe a tropical drink is just what you need to loosen you up, dr. Tim.
[ Groans ] Oh, no. It can't be.
[ Indistinct conversations ] Ahh.
[ Coughs ] I can't believe this. My first real vacation in years, and look who's here.
[ Sighs ] You will be sorry, christine. You will be very, very sorry.
Victoria: [ Moans ] Cole.
Cole: Yeah? Expecting someone else?
Victoria: What are you doing here?
Cole: Well, I live here, remember?
Victoria: No. I mean why aren't you in boston?
Cole: Well, why aren't you in the office? Now, don't tell me you're playing hooky.
Victoria: Hardly. Pulled an all-nighter last night. I was just taking a nap before going back. Why didn't you call me and tell me you were coming home? Or didn't you think I'd care?
[ Dialing ]
[ Ringing ]
Miguel: Abbott residence.
Victor: Hello, miguel.
Miguel: Mr. Newman, how may i help you?
Victor: Miguel, I'm trying to locate my ex-wife, and I have just learned that she's out of town. Do you have any idea where she went?
Miguel: No, I don'T.
Victor: She didn't say anything to you about her destination?
Miguel: No, not a word.
Victor: Huh. I guess she left town without... notifying anyone.
Miguel: Uh, frankly, mr. Newman, I think she preferred that none of us knew where she was going.
Victor: I see. Okay. Thank you, miguel. What's going on with you, nikki? And why this mystery?
Phyllis: [ Thinking ] So, christine's here -- cricket and paul on their little honeymoon. Damn! Of all the places in the world, why here? How could this happen? That's it. I'm leaving.
Tim: What? What, phyllis?
Phyllis: Nothing.
Tim: Did you just say you were leaving?
Phyllis: I don't know.
Tim: But we just got here, and you've been going on and on about how beautiful nevis is and how much there is to do around here. Why would you want to leave?
Phyllis: You know something? You're right. Why should I leave?
[ Scoffs ] The more I think of it, the more I realize this could get very, very interesting.
Tim: Am I supposed to understand this?
Phyllis: No. I understand it.
Victoria: Hey, you!
[ Water splashes ] Come on in! The water's great.
Ryan: Okay. Let's pass on the skinny-dipping, okay?
Victoria: What's the big deal? We used to be married once, remember? We know all the intimate details, although I wouldn't mind a refresher.
Ryan: You never give up, do you?
Victoria: Are you coming in?
Ryan: Thinking about it.
Victoria: Well, while you're thinking about it, take into consideration this. And if that doesn't convince you...
[ Giggles ]
[ Laughs ]
Victoria: Were you trying to surprise me? Is that why you didn't call me and tell me you were coming home today?
Cole: Well, actually, I wasn't sure if we were gonna wrap things up in time, but we did, so we caught the first flight out this morning.-
Victoria: You and nina?
Cole: Yeah.
Victoria: How'd it go?
Cole: Uh, the research? Better than I had hoped.
Victoria: Was nina any help?
Cole: Well, if she hadn't flown out and pitched in the way she did, I certainly wouldn't be here now.
Victoria: Well, remind me to thank her next time I see her.
Cole: So, how are things with you? Putting in a lot of hours at the office, I gather.
Victoria: That's the price of success, or so they tell me.
Cole: So, is that all you did while I was away -- work?
Victoria: Mostly.
Cole: Mostly? I, uh... found these draped over a chair by the pool. Did you lose your bikini, vicki?

[ Knock on door ]
Nick: Hey, dad. You got a minute?
Victor: Hi, my boy. What can I do for you?
Nick: Well, you can say yes to what I'm about to ask you.
Victor: If you're referring to your request to function as leo's assistant while he's negotiating in copenhagen...
Nick: Actually, that wasn't my question, but since you brought it up, have you made a decision yet?
Victor: I'm giving it some serious consideration.
Nick: Meaning you haven't decided? That's fine. That's fine. I am not gonna pressure you. But I know you're gonna make the right decision.
Nick: Alright. Well, let me get to the real reason why I'm here. It's about sharon and me.
Doris: Sharon. What a nice surprise.
Sharon: Hi, mom. How are you?
Doris: Can't complain.
Sharon: Me, either.
Doris: Well, you seem in a real fine mood.
Sharon: I am. I have to ask you something. Do you have any plans for tonight?
Doris: Oh, well, some of the people at rehab are going to a movie. I thought I'd join them.
Sharon: Think again. You're going to a party -- a very special party. It's for a very special occasion.
Cole: This is your bikini, isn't it, vicki?
Victoria: I went skinny-dipping. No one was around.
Cole: Well, if no one was around... why did you take your suit off by the pool? You could have just gone up there in a robe.
Victoria: I didn't get the urge to go skinny-dipping until I got to the pool. It's no big deal. I just like the freedom of swimming in the nude.
Cole: You... walked back here in the nude?
Victoria: It was dark. No one was around. Besides, would it have been the end of the world if somebody had seen me without my bikini on? Any more questions, officer?
Cole: Uh, just one. How come you never skinny-dip with me?
Victoria: Because every time I'm in the mood, you're cozying up to your computer. You're not exactly the soul of spontaneity.
Cole: You know, I, uh -- I tried, uh, calling you last night, and you weren't here or at the office.
Victoria: I was out by the pool.
Cole: You said you pulled an all-nighter.
Victoria: I went back to jabot after I was through swimming.
Cole: I know that, uh, nina tried calling ryan last night. It was no luck. Apparently, he was out, too. It's interesting, isn't it?
Victoria: What are you getting at?
Cole: Phew. Boy. I'm beat. Think I'm gonna take a shower.
Victoria: Be my guest. Cole, by the way... welcome home.
Cole: It's nice to be home.
Tim: Phyllis, talk to me.
Phyllis: [ Thinking ] You and your wedded bliss, cricket. Yuck! What can I do? Tim... uh, there's something I have to do, okay? I'll meet up with you later.
It's totally normal
Paul: So, beautiful, you ready for dessert?
Christine: Oh. Yeah. I don't know if I have room after this incredible feast we've just had.
Paul: Mm. Hotel really went all out, didn't they?
Christine: Oh, yeah. The eggplant and avocado casserole was so good.
Paul: Oh, that was so good.
Christine: And the sweet peppers and lobster baked in coconut milk.
Paul: Speaking of coconuts, how 'bout the fruit platter?
Christine: Mm.
Paul: Try some of this. You like that?
Christine: Very much.
Paul: I'm talking about the fruit.
Christine: Oh, yeah.
[ Chuckles ]
Paul: How 'bout another tropical delight -- a little pineapple, perhaps?
Christine: Mmm. Before I have any more, there's something I'd like to do first.
Paul: Really?
Christine: Where's your champagne glass?
Paul: Oh.
Christine: To my incredibly wonderful, romantic husband.... and to the beginning of a long, happy life together.
Nick: Since the 19th was our 6-month wedding anniversary, i figured we'd celebrate by going out to dinner to the colonnade room.
Victor: Aha.
Nick: But we never made it. We got sidetracked.
Victor: Hmm.
Nick: So we figured we'd go tonight instead, only now there's a whole new set of plans.
Victor: What's that?
Nick: I thought this occasion should be celebrated with our family. I mean, six months is a pretty damn big milestone to me. And who better to celebrate with than the people who've been behind us all along? So, how 'bout it, dad? Can you make it out to our place and toast the old married couple?
Victor: [ Laughs ] The old married couple?
[ Laughs ] My boy. Well... it so happens I'm free tonight, and I would love nothing more than to come over there if that is what you and sharon would like.
Nick: We would like that very much, dad, for several reasons.
Victor: Does that include your mother?
Nick: Of course.
Victor: Well, you know you're out of luck. She isn't in town.
Nick: What? When will she be back?
Victor: I was not informed.
Nick: Oh, man. I hope she'll be back by tonight.
Victor: Well, couldn't you postpone it for a day or two?
Nick: No. No, I'd rather not.
Victor: Well. Do I sense some urgency?
Nick: Well, kind of. Alright. Listen, dad, if there's a change of plans, I'll get back to you. If not, I'll just see you tonight, okay?
Victor: Bye, my boy.
Victoria: So, little brother, what brings you to my office?
Nick: Two things. Did you know mom went out of town?
Victoria: Mm-hmm. How'd you find out?
Nick: Dad just told me.
Victoria: God. It must really bug him.
Nick: What do you mean?
Victoria: I just think it really gets to him that mother took this trip and he doesn't know where she is. Did he quiz you about who she went with?
Nick: She went with someone?
Victoria: Maybe.
Nick: Victoria, will you quit playing these games? Last week you were acting all coy about mom taking a horseback ride with someone, and now you're doing it with this trip? That's enough. Spit it out. What's going on?
Victoria: Okay. I did call the office of someone who I thought she might have gone with.
Nick: And?
Victoria: Turns out she wasn't with him.
Nick: Okay. Does that mean she went alone or she went with someone else?
Victoria: [ Sighs ] I don't know, nicholas. My hunch is she went alone.
Nick: Alright. Alright. I'm not gonna get all caught up in your speculation. All I want to know is, is when is she getting back?
Victoria: Who knows? Maybe today. Why?
Nick: I want her to be with the rest of the family tonight to help sharon and me celebrate.
Sharon: You see... it's not just the marriage we're celebrating. I'm sure nick has something else in mind.
Doris: What?
Sharon: An announcement. He's gonna tell the family we're having a baby.
[ Door unlocks ]
Ryan: Honey. You're back.
Nina: Hi, honey!
Ryan: Talk about timing. I was just about to give you a call in boston.
Nina: Oh! Well, we managed to finish up late last night, and i caught the first plane back this morning. I would have been here a half an hour earlier if I could have gotten a cab at the airport.
Ryan: You should have called. I would have picked you up.
Nina: Oh, no. I thought you were at work. I didn't want to pull you away from anything important.
Ryan: No, no. I decided to work at home today.
Nina: Well, I'm glad you did. Mwah! So... how's my boy?
Ryan: Oh, he's good, except he misses his mommy.
Nina: Ohh. I can't wait to give him a hug. Where is he?
Ryan: He's out with larry and his dad hiking the nature trail. He should be back by mid-afternoon.
Nina: Tell me the truth. He's grown a foot, hasn't he?
Ryan: Come on, honey. You've only been gone a few days.
Nina: Yeah, I know, but still...
Ryan: So, tell me how it went in boston. What happened while you were away?
Nina: [ Chuckles softly ]
Phyllis: Excuse me. Excuse me. Whoa. Hey.
[ Chuckles ] Hi. Excuse me. My name is christine williams, and I'm on my honeymoon, but i locked myself out of my room. Could you let me in?
Paul: So...salty girl...
Christine: [ Chuckles ]
Paul: ...Are you thinking what I am?
Christine: How wonderful a shower would feel right now?
Paul: Mm-hmm, not to mention a nap afterwards.
Christine: Oh, yeah. That is exactly... what I had in mind.
Paul: Let's go.
Christine: Okay.
[ Water running]
Paul: [ Speaking indistinctly ]
We are the thrivers.
"The young and the restless"
will continue.
Victoria: I thought you and sharon were going out tonight, just the two of you. At least that's what sharon told me when I saw her earlier.
Nick: We're still gonna have our own private party at the colonnade room. Why are you looking at me like that?
Victoria: Are you sure there's not something more to this than you're telling me?
Doris: Are you sure about this, sharon?
Sharon: Yes, mom. Nicholas is going to make the big announcement tonight. In fact, it was his idea. He felt that this anniversary was the perfect occasion to get our families together and share our happiness.
Doris: That's lovely. Still...
Sharon: Mom, my husband said that he felt we've been cutting the family off too much lately and that it was time we -- look, what really matters is that after tonight, everything will be out in the open. Nick's family will finally know about the baby. And I can stop worrying about... see, mom? I told you. I was right all along. I knew that if I didn't push nick too hard, he would eventually come around. Our marriage is gonna be okay. Everything is gonna be okay.
[ Water running ]
Phyllis: [ Thinking ] That ought to get rid of them.
[ Running stops ]
Paul: I'm gonna shave. I'll be out in a minute.
Christine: Alright. I'll be waiting. Aah! Aah! Aah! Oh, my god!
Paul: What's going on?
Christine: There's something in the bed! It's -- it's slimy and it's -- go look!
Paul: What do you mean, there's something in the bed?
Christine: [ Breathing heavily ]
[ Gasps ] Oh, my god.
Paul: Oh, my god. What the hell is it?
Christine: What is it doing in there?
Tim: Phyllis, where have you been? I've been looking all over for you.
Phyllis: You wouldn't believe it if I told you.
Nick: So, will you be there tonight?
Victoria: Sure.
Nick: What about cole? Is he back from boston?
Victoria: Yeah, he's back, but you better ask him yourself. My husband's not too thrilled with me right now.
Nick: I'm not even gonna ask why.
Victoria: Thanks. So, you still haven't answered my question.
Nick: What question?
Victoria: Well, I just get the feeling that more is going on tonight.
Nick: Vicki, I already told you.
Victoria: Okay, okay. Fine. Forget I asked.
Nick: So, do you think mom's gonna be back by tonight?
Victoria: It's hard to tell. You got to admit, though, she's one smart lady.
Nick: Why do you say that?
Victoria: Well, she didn't tell anyone where she went. I mean, everyone's curious, especially dad. He's asking everyone where she is.
Nick: So?
Victoria: Nicholas, come on. Dad is showing that he has more interest in mother's life than he's willing to admit. I mean, he practically grilled me to find out her whereabouts, especially when he thought that she was going off with this other man. I wouldn't be surprised if -- nicholas, are you listening to me?
Nick: Oh, sorry.
[ Snaps fingers ]
Victoria: You didn't hear a word I said.
Nick: I heard some if it.
Victoria: Look, if you're not gonna give me the courtesy of listening when I talk --
Nick: Sis, I am sorry. I just have a lot on my mind, okay?
Victoria: So do I. I just thought that what I was saying was important. Apparently, you didn'T.
Nick: Alright. I'm all ears now.
Victoria: [ Sighs ] Let's just drop it.
Nick: Where are you going?
Victoria: I am going over to the ad department to give them these proofs. I'll see you tonight.
Nina: It's really amazing how much work we accomplished, ryan.
Ryan: Well, it sounds like you and cole put in a lot of hours.
Nina: Yeah, we did, but it was easy. We got so caught up in what we were doing. It's really fascinating. I keep trying to figure out how he's going to incorporate my research into his, you know, stories and his settings, and i am always wrong. He comes up with these great twists and turns. I guess that's what makes him so successful, you know? He draws you in into his characters and his stories. It's mesmerizing. He's really a talent.
Ryan: You really enjoy working with him, don't you?
Nina: Well, I consider it an honor, working so closely with someone that I admire and respect so much, yeah.
Ryan: You know, you have not said a word about boston. I hear it's a great place.
Nina: Oh. Well, I liked what I saw of it. I was always working. I didn't get to explore it too much. What about you?
Ryan: What about me?
Nina: Well, what'd you do while I was away?
Ryan: Same old stuff -- work, work, work, and more work.
Nina: You poor thing. You put in so many hours -- almost as many as cole.
Ryan: [ Chuckles softly ]
Nina: Look, I better unpack. I've got some presents in my suitcase for phillip, and I want to put them on his bed so he can tear into them when he gets home.
Ryan: Nina... let me take that for you.
Nina: Thank you. It's good to be home.
Ryan: Mm. It's good to have you home. You're not using too much are you, hon?
Nigel: I don't know what to say, mr. Williams. Nothing like this has ever happened at our resort.
Paul: Well, it happened this time.
Nigel: Yes, sir.
Christine: How in the world could a dead octopus get in our bed?
Nigel: I have no idea. I'm certain no one from the hotel could have done it. It must have been a prank.
Paul: Well, that doesn't make any sense. We don't know anybody here.
Nigel: Are you sure?
Paul: Of course I'm sure! We're thousands of miles away from home.
Nigel: Well, then I can only assume that the prankster put it in the wrong room. I'll send someone up immediately to clean and... see what I can find out.
Christine: [ Sighs ]
Tim: Phyllis... you still haven't told me where you were.
Phyllis: You were looking for me? Why?
Tim: Well, you seemed so preoccupied all day, and then you just suddenly disappeared. I was concerned.
Phyllis: About me?
Tim: Why? Does that surprise you?
Phyllis: There was no need.
Tim: But you still won't tell me where you were.
Phyllis: No.
Tim: [ Sighs ] You said i might not believe you.
Phyllis: Uh, I doubt you would.
Tim: Why not?
Phyllis: Can we drop this?
Tim: Phyllis... you're grinning like the cat who swallowed the canary.
Phyllis: That's exactly how i feel, doctor -- like one happy little pussycat.
[ Knock on door ]
Victoria: Hi, sharon. Come on in.
Sharon: Hi, victoria. I was told my husband was here.
Victoria: Yeah, he was, but he left.
Sharon: Oh.
Victoria: Is there any special reason why you're looking for him?
Sharon: Did nick tell you about our dinner party tonight?
Victoria: Uh-huh.
Sharon: Well, you'll be there, I hope.
Victoria: Of course. So, um, what's the occasion for the party?
Sharon: Didn't your brother tell you?
Victoria: Oh, you know nick. He's not one for details.
Sharon: Well, we've been married for six months now. That's a pretty special occasion, wouldn't you say?
Victoria: Yeah, sure is.
Sharon: And we've never had the whole family over to our place for dinner, so we thought it was about time.
Victoria: That makes sense.
Sharon: Your family's really close, and nick and I always want to be a part of that.
Victoria: Of course you do.
Sharon: Why are you looking at me like that?
Victoria: Like what?
Sharon: I don't know. I'm just getting this feeling like you're... studying me for some reason.
Victoria: Why would I be studying you?
Sharon: [ Chuckles nervously ] I think I'm being paranoid.
Victoria: Do you have anything to be paranoid about?
Sharon: No.
Victoria: I know that things have been kind of rough for you and my brother lately.
Sharon: True. But not anymore... which is a big part of the reason for the dinner party tonight -- to show the family how together we are now. Look, I better run. I have a million things to do. I'll see you later, victoria.
Victoria: See ya. "Show the family how together we are now." What's going on with you, sharon? Or do I already know?
Paul: [ Sighs ]
Christine: [ Chuckles ] Paul, wait. What are you doing?
Paul: Well, I realize the housekeeper put on clean sheets and bedcovers and things like that. I just want to make... very sure there are no more surprises.
Christine: Uh-huh. I just still can't imagine how this would have happened.
Paul: Well, maybe what the manager said was right -- that this prank was intended for another guest. I mean, how could it be us? We don't know anybody here. And no one from home knew we were coming here on our honeymoon.
Christine: You know what? That is just it. We are on our honeymoon. And I am not about to let what just happened spoil another minute of it.
Paul: Now you're talking. Do you have any idea at all how much I love you?
Christine: Do you have any idea how much I love you?
Paul: I think we're both about to find out.
