Todd: Where's Blair? What did you do to her, Margaret? If you hurt her, I swear to God, I'm going to find a way to kill you.

Margaret: Oh, shut up, Todd. I swear, between you and Blair and all your stupid questions --

Todd: Just answer me. Is she all right?

Margaret: Well, that's up to you. She's safe and warm at the moment. But are you going to let her die before you give me a baby?

Blair: Somebody, anybody out there, can you hear me? I need some help. Somebody! Help me! Oh -- there's got to be a way out of here. There's got to be. Ugh. Oh. I'm going to die in here. I'm going to die in here.

Antonio: I'm sorry, Mami. It's over now.

Carlotta: Well -- what are you saying? That man, my son who came back, it wasn't really Cristian?

Antonio: Yes, Mami, that's what I'm saying.

Carlotta: No. No. No, no, no, no, no. No, that can't be. No. Who could do something like that? Tonio, are you absolutely sure?

Antonio: Mami, I -- I know this must be killing you. I know you want your son back. First, you lose me and then Cris.

Carlotta: You are my very own son in every possible way.

Antonio: You know, I -- I just have this feeling like -- what's the point in even thinking about it?

Carlotta: I have to think about it. Oh, Antonio, I can't help it. Something was wrong. I knew it. Natalie kept trying to make excuses, but I knew, I knew that there was something very, very wrong. But I wanted my son back so badly. No, this just doesn't make any sense.

Antonio: I know. I know, but that -- that man is not Cristian.

Carlotta: But maybe he knows where Cristian is.

John: No, I'm going to stick around for this Cristian Vega hearing. I'm expecting an envelope to come over from the hospital, all right? Can you get it here as soon as it arrives?

Officer: Yeah, okay.

John: Thanks.

Officer: See you later.

John: Okay, see you. Hi.

Evangeline: Hi. Just finished up with Judge Fitzwater. It's official -- Antonio is exonerated of Tico Santi's murder.

John: Well, good.

Evangeline: Yeah.

John: That's great. Yeah, I'm a little early for Cristian's hearing -- John Doe -- whatever his name is. Look, about yesterday --

Evangeline: I made a mistake.

John: Saying you were in love or expecting me to say it back?

Viki: I thought I might find you here.

Guard: Enjoy our hospitality while you can, dirtbag. This place is The Palace compared to Statesville.

Cristian: I'm going to pay for my mistake. It's the right thing to do. It's what Cristian Vega would do.

Natalie: How could I think that that was Cristian? What kind of a wife doesn't even know her own husband?

Viki: Baby, we all thought it was Cristian, all of us -- Antonio. Even Carlotta, his mother, thought so.

Natalie: But I slept with him, Mom. I let him take me into his arms.

Viki: Baby, you wanted to believe that it was Cristian.

Natalie: Oh, my God, but there were so many signs everywhere. He had a book with his entire life in it, and what wasn't in there, he was clueless.

Viki: That's all very easy to see in hindsight.

Natalie: Okay. But he couldn't paint. I mean, he gave me some line about how it wasn't the same life. It was all bull. You know, the real Cristian -- he loved to paint. He loved to paint. He never would have forgotten Roxy’s portrait. I mean, my God, it's so obvious. What is wrong with me?

Viki: Oh, come on, there's nothing wrong with you. Nothing at all is wrong with you. Baby, when someone that we love dies, especially, oh, my God, your husband, you're left so vulnerable. You know, if you weren't, then you probably never loved him at all, and I don't think you want to wish that away, do you?

Natalie: No.

Viki: No. You know, I know that Ben is gone, okay? I mean, his heart is beating in my chest. And yet, so often, out of the corner of my eye, I see him. I see him walk in the kitchen. I can feel him. I can feel his arms around me. In the middle of the night, I wake up sometimes and I think he's in the room with me. I hear his laugh in a crowd of people and -- I tell you, if somebody walked into this church right now who looked and sounded like ben, I would believe it, even though I know perfectly well that he's gone. If I could spend one more day with him, I would believe anything, because that's how much I miss him.

Natalie: Okay, so how do you go on, Mom?

Viki: Well, honey, you know, you just do. For me, I have my family, I have my work. Hey, I've got Ben’s heart. I know it seems impossible to you right now, but you will get through this, I promise you you will, because you're strong. Right now you have to do what you have to do, okay? You cry, you rage, you break things. But don't ever, ever blame yourself for what that impostor did to you.

Natalie: I used to think, you know, I -- for months, I wished that Cristian hadn't come back at all. That's what bothers me the most.

Viki: Is that because of the problems that you and Cristian were having? Or was it because of John McBain?

Evangeline: Everything about yesterday was a mistake. But at least now I know the truth.

John: What did I say?

Evangeline: It's what you don't say, John.

John: They're just words, you know? Sometimes I'm not good with the words.

Evangeline: That's not true. No, you choose your words very carefully. "I care," "I want to be with you," "This friendship I have with Natalie"? No. I should be so lucky to have that kind of a friend.

John: Now you sound like you're jealous.

Evangeline: I'm realistic. There's more to a relationship than this, at least the relationship that I want.

John: Okay. I thought we were, you know, taking our time, taking it easy.

Evangeline: We have been. But I know what I want now. And I won't settle for less.

John: Weren't you the one who said that you didn't want to get married?

Evangeline: John, marriage and love are two different things. Marriage is one thing, but love is everything. It's what I want. And if it's not going to work with you, then I can deal with it.

John: Please -- please don't go.

Cristian: I'm glad you came by. Look, I -- I need to apologize to you.

Antonio: Save it for the judge. It's just you and me now. If you're not him, you're not Cristian, then what happened to him? Where is he?

Antonio: Do you have any idea what it's like to lose someone?

Antonio: To say goodbye? Put up a headstone with no body? Watch your mother's heart break?

Cristian: I thought I could be Cristian. I wanted it.

Antonio: You wanted to steal his life?

Cristian: Look, I know what did was wrong. But I had nothing else. If I knew who I was, if I had a family, people to love me the way they loved Cristian, I'd be the luckiest man in the world.

Antonio: You're nobody.

Cristian: And now I never will be. I'm sorry, but the real Cristian died in Nevada.

Antonio: You'll never be him! You sorry son of a bitch. That's for all the pain you caused.

Natalie: I still have feelings for John. But, Mom, Cristian was supposed to be the love of my life, and, you know, when he came back -- when I thought he came back, it was so hard to be around him, you know? He was cold and distant, and he had all these secrets and this horrible rage. You know, and I wanted to be the perfect wife for him. But it was impossible. I mean, the worst that it got, the more horrible I felt. I mean, here I have this miracle, you know, my husband, he's back from the dead, and I can't even be happy. I can't even deal with him.

Viki: Maybe your instincts were telling you something.

Natalie: Well, I wish they would have talked a little louder.

Viki: You know the truth now. The man was a stranger. Okay? And I think maybe all those doubts you were having was just your own self-preservation trying to protect you, you know? And that's hardly a sign of weakness, baby. Quite the contrary, that's a sign of great strength.

Natalie: It doesn't matter. I mean, I've made such a complete idiot out of myself. I mean, I -- I wanted what I wanted. I wasn't going to let anybody tell me I was wrong, and I've embarrassed myself in front of everyone.

Viki: No, you have not. Darling, you loved Cristian. Honey, when you love someone like that, when you believe in them like that, even if they seem to be a stranger every once in a while, you don't give up on them. You never give up on them.

Todd: I'm not going to do a thing until I know Blair’s safe.

Margaret: Oh, stop talking about Blair. Don't push me, Todd. This is the last thing I need after the night I had.

Todd: Something happen?

Margaret: This is supposed to be our place. But then Blair found it. And it is never going to be the same. Well, I could have gotten over that. But then some stupid cow had to run out in front of my car and force me to hit her.

Todd: Cow?

Margaret: A girl. Some stupid, stupid girl. She should have known better than to run out into traffic. It was right in front of Rodi’s. Why didn't you ever take me to Rodi’s when we were dating?

Todd: We weren't dating.

Margaret: Oh, sure -- of course we were. You kissed me. Why, you don't just go around kissing people that you don't like. That's irresponsible.

Todd: So is kidnapping.

Margaret: You know, that kiss is the thing that started all of this. So, just remember, whatever happens, you started it.

Todd: Margaret, tell me where Blair is.

Margaret: You know, I'm still fertile. I checked the Internet. Yes, they say that we still have a window of opportunity if we get right to it.

Todd: I'm not going to do a thing until I know she's alive.

Margaret: Oh, she is alive.

Todd: Prove it.

Margaret: Why are you so difficult? Okay.

Margaret: Well, what are you waiting for? Talk.

Todd: Hello? Blair?

Blair: Todd.

Todd: Blair, can you hear me?

Blair: Oh, Todd. Yeah, Todd!

Todd: Yeah, it's me. If you can hear me, say something.

Blair: Todd! Todd!

Todd: There's no one there.

Margaret: Well, then she must be dead.

Blair: Todd!

Evangeline: What, John? You just told me not to leave, and now you're just staring at me.

John: I don't want this to be over.

Evangeline: We've been doing this dance for quite a while now.

John: Really? I didn't know we were on a timetable.

Evangeline: I'm a woman, John. We need to hear things out loud every once in a while.

John: You're the only one I want to be with. What more do you want me to say?

Evangeline: I can do this, because I can. I can be in this all the way, and you can’t. And it doesn't look like that's changing.

[Phone rings]

John: Yeah, it's McBain. Have Sullivan -- have him bring him over to the courthouse. Thanks. The D.N.A. test results are in.

Evangeline: Well, we know what they're going to say. Cristian's not Cristian, Natalie is alone again, and you need to figure out how you're going to handle that.

Man: Mr. Vega --

Cristian: That's not my name.

Man: Mr. Doe -- it's a crime not to identify yourself. It could add years to your sentence.

Cristian: Do you want me to make one up?

Man: You better start taking this seriously. I can't ask for clemency if you won't cooperate. Your future's at stake here.

Cristian: I don't have a future. I have no life. The only memories I have are the things that happened since I came to Llanview. But they're fake. I'm a fake. I don't have a clue what my name is. For all I know, I had a life somewhere. A family, maybe.

Man: Obviously.

Cristian: Obviously, it wasn't worth much, or it wouldn't have been so easy to forget.

Man: Don't you want to find out who you are?

Cristian: Why? I killed a man. I'm going to prison. I've got the next 50 years to figure that out.

Man: If you survive that long. Statesville's rough.

Cristian: The only thing that's real, the only thing that anyone needs to know about me is how much I love this remarkable woman. Her name's Natalie. She's all I know. She's all I had to live for. And now that's gone.

Viki: Natalie, honey, you will be all right. I promise you that, because you are strong and because you have such a loving heart.

Natalie: Is that why this hurts so much?

Viki: Sure. God, I wish there was something I could say to make this easier for you.

Natalie: You know, Mom, I just -- I wanted Cristian to wake up one morning and be the same man that I married. That's all I wanted.

Viki: I know. Oh, God, no one should have to say goodbye twice.

Natalie: Yeah. You did. You know, when Ben woke up out of the coma for a few hours, then when he died. You know what? If you could do it, I can do it, too.

Margaret: I gave her one of these before I left. It was working just fine. Oh, if your precious little Blair couldn't survive a few hours, well, that's not my fault.

Todd: Maybe she escaped.

Margaret: No.

Todd: Maybe she's on her way here right now with the police.

Margaret: It would have been impossible for her to get out of there.

Todd: Well, you don't know Blair. She's never going to let you win, Margaret.

Blair: Todd -- Todd, I'm here.

Todd: Give it to me.

Blair: I'm here, I'm here, I'm here.

Todd: Blair, are you okay?

Blair: I'm fine. I love you.

Todd: I love you, too.

Blair: Oh, Todd, you got to find a way out. You got to find a way out for Jack and Starr. They're going to need you.

Todd: Oh, now, come on now. Don't be ridiculous. They need us both.

Blair: I am so sorry.

Todd: Blair, don't you give up on me now. Do you hear me? Don't you dare give up on me now.

Carlotta: What did he say? Cristian's alive, isn't he?

Antonio: No.

Carlotta: You're lying. Or he's lying, because I can feel it. Somehow I know Cristian's alive.

Antonio: Mami, I felt it, too. But Cristian's gone, he's gone, and that man's on his way to prison.

Carlotta: That's not enough.

Antonio: I know, I know, but it's something.

Carlotta: Why did he do this?

Antonio: He doesn't know. He was brainwashed. He doesn't know where he's from, who he is.

Carlotta: Does he have any idea of the pain he's caused us and how much we believed him, how much we loved him?

Antonio: I'm sorry.

Carlotta: Oh, my sons -- oh, Lord, my sons, my precious sons --

Antonio: Cristian was your real son.

Carlotta: And you. You are my son, Antonio.

Antonio: I'm here. I'm here.

Viki: Oh, God, hear me, please. Help my children. Give them some peace, and don't let them suffer so much. And, Lord, please bring Todd home safely.

Margaret: Oh. Blair is just being melodramatic. She couldn't be dying.

Todd: Shut up!

Margaret: Do you want me to stop being nice to you, Todd? Huh? No. Go ahead. But I'm not listening to any more of your drivel. Try not to waste too much of your energy while I make the preparations.

Blair: Preparations? What is she talking about? What preparations?

Margaret: When I get back, I want you to be ready.

Blair: What is she talking about?

Todd: All right, she's gone. Where are you?

Blair: I'm locked in the trunk of her car in a garage somewhere. And, Todd, it's cold. It's so, so cold. I don't know if I'm ever going to get out of here.

Todd: Okay, okay. Don't think about that now. Just -- just close your eyes and listen to my voice, okay? I'll keep you warm. I want you to imagine that my arms are around you and I'm holding you really close. Maybe we're in our bedroom and there's a fire and that we're under the covers. Maybe the kids are there, maybe Jack's there, maybe he's -- you know, maybe he's pulled up the comforter up to his eyeballs so we think he's asleep so we'll let him spend the night with us. And -- oh, Blair, I'm so glad you didn't believe that note that I left you on our wedding day. I really thought you were going to hate me for sure.

Blair: Well, I tried to. But, you know, I felt something. I felt you -- I felt you reaching out for me.

Todd: I was. I talked to you every day, begged you not to give up on me.

Blair: Well, I tried. But you know what? I couldn't. That's why I stole Kevin’s airtime, and I thought maybe if you could just hear my voice when I was singing to you on New Year’s Eve --

Todd: Well, your voice kept me alive.

Blair: Were you sick?

Todd: I was in the hospital. Margaret shot me, and the wounds got infected.

Blair: Oh, my God.

Todd: No, no, it's all right. Don't worry, you kept me alive, and I'm going to do the same for you.

Blair: Todd, if you were shot --

Todd: Don't think about that now. I'm okay. We're going to get through this together, okay? We're going to keep each other alive. Margaret's no match for us, right? We're going to get through it and we're going to get married, just like we planned, okay?

Blair: Okay. Okay. Oh, Todd, I'm locked in the trunk of a car somewhere, and you're being trapped by some psycho woman God knows where, and how are we ever going to get out of this?

Officer: Here's that delivery you were waiting for.

John: Thanks for bringing it over.

Jessica: John, hey. Listen, what's going to happen to that fake at the hearing today?

John: The judge will probably throw the book at him. Yeah.

Jessica: Carlotta, hey. Hi. God, I am so sorry.

Carlotta: It's not your fault, mija. But my son Antonio is not capable of cold-blooded murder. In your heart, I know you know that.

John: Hey, hey. Hey.

John: Look; I've been thinking a lot about what you said to me about us.

Evangeline: I hope so.

John: Can you understand what I'm trying to say to you? Look, when the person you thought was going to be with you for the rest of your life suddenly isn't there, it takes time to --

Evangeline: I haven't been through that, John.

John: Can you be patient with me? Please?

Natalie: So, you tried to prevent this. I should have listened.

John: I just wish I would have seen it sooner.

Natalie: Yeah, it's okay. I wouldn't have believed you, anyway.

Viki: You ready?

Natalie: Yeah.

John: I'll walk you in.

Natalie: Thanks.

Carlotta: I have to keep telling myself that's not my son.

Antonio: You're not the only one, Mami. I can't help but see my brother.

Bailiff: All rise. The honorable Judge Howard lee presiding.

Judge: Be seated. This court will come to order in the matter of the commonwealth vs. John doe for murder in the first degree of Augustico Santi.

Todd: Hang on, Blair, just a little while longer.

Blair: I am not giving up without a fight.

Margaret: Oh, don't I look radiant.

Todd: That's right, sweetheart. Don't stop fighting.

Blair: I just want to be with you, Todd. I swear, I'll do anything, but --

Todd: Blair, you there?

Blair: It's just so cold. It's so cold in here.

Margaret: Oh, that's right, little one. Mommy's here. Oh, don't worry. I am never going to leave you. We are going to be there for each other, forever and ever.

Todd: Blair, I'm going to get you out of there. I don't care what I have to do.

Blair: Hey, you think there's a way?

Todd: Yes, there's one way. And don't worry, I'm not going to let you down.

Defender: Your Honor, I'd like to enter a plea of insanity. My client, John Doe, has no idea who he is. He swears he was programmed to kill Augustico Santi. He says that he has no memory of who he was before he came to Llanview. How can you punish a man who's suffered so much already?

Carlotta: How could they not punish him?

Judge: Has the defendant been examined by a psychiatrist?

Lawyer: No, Your Honor. He refuses to cooperate.

Judge: Young man, do you have any wish to say anything in your own defense?

Cristian: Yes, Your Honor.

Cristian: I'm sorry for what I did. I wanted to be Cristian Vega. But most of all, I wanted to be your husband, Natalie. I wanted to be the man you loved, the man Cristian would have been. That's why I couldn't kill Antonio. I'm not insane, Your Honor. I murdered Tico Santi. I need to pay for what I did. But nothing, no prison sentence, not even death can make up for the pain I caused. I'm sorry. I know it's not enough. But I swear to you, it's the truth.

Judge: I have listened to the defendant's attorney and to the defendant himself. I'm ready to rule. In the matter of the Commonwealth vs. John Doe, I hereby sentence the defendant to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Take him into custody.

[Judge pounds gavel]

Bailiff: All rise.

Antonio: Jess -- are you okay?

Jessica: Uh-huh.

Antonio: What is it, Jess? Tell me.

Jessica: Listen, I can't turn to you anymore after what I've done.

John: Hey. So, what are you doing now?

Evangeline: I don't know, John.

Natalie: I'm glad it's over.

John: So am I.

Viki: Let's go.

John: What the hell?
