One Life to Live Transcript Monday 4/1/02 By Suzanne >> Previously on "One Life to Live" -- Natalie: I paid Allison to get out of town for good. Jessica: That's what you were doing? You were working with Allison to get my money? Jen: Yes, I’ll marry you. Nora: I do have feelings for you, and they're a lot stronger than I'm willing to admit. Viki: I hate my daughter! Niki: It worked! *********************************************** Seth: The car's right behind us. We got to pull over. Jessica: Where? There's only one lane. Seth: And there's no shoulders. We only have one choice. [Car accelerates] Jessica: Seth! Seth: Hold on, hold on! Jessica: Seth! Seth: Hold on! [Tires screech] [Alarm] *********************************************** Cristian: What up, my man? Chad: Hey. Cristian: Here you go. You're now officially driving this bus. Chad: What's with the formal wear? Cristian: "Formal"? What, you call this formal? Chad: Yes, it's formal. For you, it's formal. Cristian: I think you need to get your eyes checked. Chad: You're wearing a collar. You're looking snazzy, Cris. Cristian: Only because my work clothes are in the laundry, that's all. Chad: In the laundry? Cristian: Yeah. Chad: Right. Cristian: Right. Chad: What's her name? Cristian: You know what, man -- you got it all wrong. I'm simply staying here because I need to work on my project for Professor Reynolds' class. Chad: Oh, it's all clear to me now. So who's your study partner? *********************************************** Max: Al! Al: Hey, Dad. Max: Hey, you're looking stronger, healthier. Al: Thanks. Jen and me got a lot to look forward to. Max: And how is my future daughter-in-law doing? Looking more radiant than ever, I might say. Oh, and let me see this. Oh. I don't think I've ever seen my mother's ring look more lovely. Jen: Nice to see you, too. Max: So, has the happy couple set the date? *********************************************** Nora: I can't do this. Troy: Ok. Nora: I should never have opened my big mouth. I should never have told you I had feelings for you. It was completely irresponsible of me. Troy: It's the truth, Nora. Nora: Yes, it is the truth. But I can't do this. I can't let these feelings or whatever they are take me over. Troy: Why not? *********************************************** Natalie: Viki did not seem like herself. You're sure she's not sick? Ben: She's fine, she's fine. She's just overworked. Natalie: Well, yeah, I think running a newspaper would be hard enough, but all those committees she's doing -- Ben: Yeah. I'm -- I’m going to try to convince her to take some time off, you know, relax. Natalie: Yeah, well, if -- if she's home a little more, maybe I can spend some more time with her. Viki's voice: I hate my daughter! I hate this wild thing that has been passing herself off as my child, and I don't think I will ever feel anything different for that poor girl. Ben: I think some mother/daughter time is exactly what you both need. Niki: [As Viki] And now that you know how I truly feel about Natalie, I'm sure that's the way you'll feel about me. [Normal voice] Oh, man, Niki! You are so good! Yes! And you still do a better Viki than Viki does. Here's to me, kid. *********************************************** [Seth coughs] Seth: Jess? Jess, you ok? Jess, Jess, wake up. Jess, wake up. Allison: Wow. That's a lot of smoke. I can't see the car. Oh, no. There's the car. It's a total wreck. Oh, my God. Oh, my God, they're never going to walk away from that. Never. They've got to be, well -- dead. Seth: Hang on, Jess, I'm coming. Hang on, Jessica, I'm coming. [Seth coughs] Seth: Hang on, Jess. Come on, wake up, Jess, wake up. Wake up, ok? Come on, we've got to get you out of here. Come on. Come on. Get you out of here, ok? Come on! Ugh! Ok, don't worry. I'll get you out of here, ok? I'll get you out of here. Come on! Ugh! Ok. Ok. All right. I'm sorry, I’m sorry. I'm going to get you out of here. Got to get you out of here. Ok. Get you out of here. Sorry. *********************************************** Niki: [As Viki] whoa! Oh, my, you startled me. Ben: Sorry. You were pretty involved with that drink. Niki: What, that? Ben: You know, you usually don't turn to alcohol when you have a problem. Niki: Yes, well, this problem is new territory. Ben: This problem is about our family, and we will handle it together -- you, me, and Natalie. Niki: You didn't tell her, did you? Ben: I wouldn't do that. Niki: Oh. Ben: But I think eventually you would have to. Niki: No, I can't do that! Good heavens! Can you imagine? Having to tell my own child to her face that I can't stand the sight of her? That would destroy her! Ben: I don't think so. Natalie's pretty tough. Remember, she survived Roxanne. Niki: Exactly! Exactly. She's already had to have one mother who just despised her. I can't even imagine what this would do to her. Ben: Natalie hated you when she got here, and now she's learning to love you. Niki: Yes, well, you have to wonder why, right? Ben: I think it's pretty simple. She spent some time with you. See, it is impossible to spend time with you and not fall in love with you. And Natalie has also learned what it's like to have a real mother. Niki: Yes, well, real mothers don't have to manufacture their feelings. I do! Ben: Don't be so hard on yourself. Look, I know you're doing your best to let her into your heart, and I have faith in you. You know what you two need; you need to spend some time together. Niki: Oh, you are asking an awful lot, Ben. Ben: You're not going to feel this way about Natalie forever. Ben: And whatever you do, don't turn away from me. *********************************************** Troy: I don't get it. You admit that you have feelings for me, so what are you afraid of, Nora? Nora: I just -- oh, God. I can't act on these feelings, that's all. Troy: No, that's not all. Nora, you're not the only person whose feelings are involved here. Nora: I understand that. Troy: So then please, help me to understand. What is it? Is it because I look exactly like Colin? Nora: Oh, at first that may have been it, but not now, no. When I look at you, I see Troy. You're nothing like your brother. Troy: Well, not according to Lindsay. Nora: Oh, who cares about Lindsay? Colin was becoming sadistic and cruel and totally obsessed with me. You -- you're a healer. You're kind, you're gentle, you're compassionate, you're caring, you're -- and I know that your feelings for me are genuine. Troy: I'm glad you know that, Nora, because my feelings for you are genuine. Look, to Colin, you -- I don't know -- he made you into his fantasy woman. He never even really knew who you were. Nora: No, he never really knew my name. He called me Scarlet. Troy: I know. Look, I've seen the real you, Nora. I've seen the side that you don't always show the rest of the world. Nora: And you're still here? Wow! Troy: I like the fact that you're so difficult. I'm sorry. Did I say difficult? I meant complex. Look, Nora, I don't need some type of fantasy woman. To me, you're more than enough. Nora: Thank you -- I think. Troy: So what's standing between us now? Is it Lindsay? Nora: Lindsay's in jail. Troy: You know what I mean. Does it bother you that I slept with Lindsay? Nora: Yes. But not for the reasons you think. Troy: You know that I never loved Lindsay. Nora: Yes, I know that, I know that. But what you did to Lindsay was very Colin-like. You were cold and calculating and cruel, and there was -- I couldn't find that man in there that I knew, the man that saved my son's life. Troy: I'm still that same man. Nora: I saw a lot of Colin in there very clearly. Troy: Nora, Colin wasn't ways bad. You didn't know him before Lindsay got ahold of him. Nora: I know he saved my life. I know he nursed me back to health. He was a good doctor. Troy: Yes, he was. And this isn't an excuse, but I wanted the truth for Colin and I wanted the truth for you, and I did what it took to get that truth. Nora: And you told a lot of lies in the process. Troy: We can get past this, Nora. Nora: That's what I’m saying -- I don't think I can. Troy: Look far as me sleeping with Lindsay’s concerned -- Nora: Oh, no -- Troy: You made it very clear that you were unavailable. Nora: This isn't about your sleeping with Lindsay. Troy: Ok. Nora: Sam. It's about Sam. *********************************************** Al: Yeah, the date. You see, the thing about the date is -- look, Dad, Jen is in charge of setting the date and she's got a lot going on right now. Max: Oh, yes, your mother. I heard. It must be rough. But you're part of our family now, too, so if there's anything you need -- Jen: Thank you. Al's been really great. Cristian: Hey, Al. Al: Cris. Cristian: You mind if I steal Jen for a minute? We've got a lot of work to do on this project. Al: Go ahead. I'll be fine. Cristian: I got it all set up. Professor Reynolds said this site has all the links we're going to need. Jen: We need to scroll down. Sorry. Cristian: I got it. Jen: There it is -- "Crimes of passion." Cristian: "Commonly known as crimes of the heart." Jen: "In the case of a crime of passion, the guilty party cites love as his or her defense." Cristian: This isn't going to work, Jen. *********************************************** Max: Al, I am not in favor of long engagements. Al: Yeah, I hear you, Dad, but with everything that Jen’s going through right now, I don't want to pressure her. It just doesn't seem right right now. Max: Her mother? I got news for you, Al -- Lindsay’s going to be in jail a long time. Al: Yeah, I know, but, well, you only get married once, right, and I just feel like Jen needs a little more time to get closer to me. Max: You two are living together. How much closer can she get? This got something to do with your condition? Al: Well, Dad, we only made love the one time at the quarry, and it was -- it was amazing. Max: For you. Al: And for her, for both of us. It was really special. Max: Well, that's all you need to know -- that and the fact she wants to be your wife. Al: I want to be everything she wants, everything she needs, you know? Max: You are. She just said so. Al: Yeah, but I mean I want to be able to walk, and I'm going to be able to walk, but -- well, it may not happen soon enough to walk down the aisle, but, Dad, I do not plan on staying in this chair for the rest of my life. Max: And I believe you won't be. I believe that with all my heart. *********************************************** Natalie: Have you seen Seth? Chad: He'd better not show his face around me, Natalie. Natalie: Drop it, ok? He didn't come on to your precious little sister. Chad: And space aliens have just taken over the White House. Max: Seth is persona non grata, and he knows it. Natalie: He didn't steal your money, Mr. Holden. Max: Really? Was it part of a vast, right-wing conspiracy, maybe involving a blue dress? Natalie: Allison Perkins took that money, just like Seth told you. Max: Prove it. Or am I just supposed to accept this theory on Seth’s say-so? Natalie: Well, Allison just beat it out of town. Is that proof enough for you? *********************************************** Allison: It's me. Roxy: Did you get the big, fat check back? Did you stop those stupid kids? Allison: Oh, I stopped them, all right. Roxy: Oh, we've got to split, Ally girl, and I mean now. Allison: You stay right where you are. I'm coming. You hear me? I'll be there soon. And as soon as I get there, we're going to put the next part of the plan in motion. *********************************************** Seth: Somebody help! We're down here! Ok, middle of nowhere. Nobody's going to hear me. Jessica: Seth? Seth: Jess? Jess? Can you hear me? Jessica: My head. My head. Where are we? Seth: We were in the car, remember? We went over an embankment into the ravine. We're pretty far down below the road. You're going to be ok, ok? Jessica: Get -- get my phone, get my phone. Seth: Right, right, your phone. Of course. All right. Jessica: Seth? Seth? Seth: I can't find it, I can't find it. Jessica: Seth -- Seth: Don't worry, don't worry. I'm here, ok? It's going to be ok. You're going to be all right, ok? I'm going to get you out of this. I'm going to get you out of this. Somehow. *********************************************** Troy: I thought you told me that you and Sam were over. Nora: It's what he wants. If I had it my way -- I raked him over the coals once too often. Troy: Well, maybe he'll change his mind. Nora: No, he's not going to change his mind. I still love him. Troy: I know you do. Plus you have Matthew to think about. Nora: It's not -- I don't have an affection for him or an affinity for him. I love him. And I -- I -- I have to let him move on. Troy: You also have to let yourself move on. Nora: Well, that's just the thing -- I don't think I can. Not yet, ok? These feelings I have for him, they're not going to just disappear overnight. Troy: So, what are you going to do? You going to wait for him to come back? Nora: He's not coming back. I hurt him. I didn't think you could hurt someone that you love so much, but I did. I hurt him. Troy: What exactly did you do to hurt him, Nora? Nora: I wasn't satisfied with our wonderful life together. I had to go after Lindsay and I let you come after me. Troy: I don't know if I gave you much choice. Nora: I knew how you felt about me, Troy. I lied to Sam. Yeah, it was by omission, but that's semantics. I should've told him. And maybe if I had told him how much the truth meant to me, maybe he would've understood and we'd still be together. Troy: So why didn't you tell him? Nora: Because maybe he wouldn't have understood and then he would've tried to stop me -- or you. Troy: Look, Nora, I'm sorry that Sam got hurt. Nora: Hmm. Troy: And it makes me very sad to see you hurt. Nora: Hmm. Troy: But I don't apologize for what I did. Nora: No, of course not, because the end always justifies the means. Troy: Wait a minute here, Nora -- I didn't set out to hurt anyone. Unfortunately, some things just can't be helped. But I would like for us to move forward. Nora: That would be even worse for Sam. Troy: For Sam? You just told me that Sam doesn't want to be with you anymore. Oh, come on, Nora, you made a mistake. Big deal, it's a mistake! It's not your first and it's not going to be your last! People make mistakes. What are you going to do? You just going to pack it in and give up? Nora: No, of course not, but I just don't want to make another mistake right now. *********************************************** Niki: [As Viki] I'm not turning away from you. Ben: We are in this together. Niki: Yes, but you don't hate your own child. I'm her mother. It is so fundamentally wrong. Ben: You have shown her more love than she has known in 20 years. Niki: Oh, Ben, Ben. I really think I just need some time to sort all this out. You know, time. Ben: You know what I think is remarkable? That you went to Rae for help; you didn't turn your anger towards Natalie. That just shows how much you care. I just wish I knew how upset you've been. Niki: I was too ashamed to tell you. [Footsteps] Asa: Oh, Viki, Ben. Ben: Hey, Asa, we're kind of in the middle of something right now. Asa: I came by to see Al, but he wasn't at the Carriage House. Niki: Excuse me, Asa -- Asa: Look, as long as I have you both here, I’d like us to get together as a family, Jessie, too. I have some family things at the house she might want, or you, too. Ben: Sounds great. Asa: You'll tell Jessie and set things up? Ben: Yeah, as soon as I see her, I’ll tell her, but right now we're just kind of in the middle of something. Asa: Viki? You all right? Ben: She's fine. Let me walk you out. Thank you. Asa: Viki have a problem? Ben: No, she's fine, she's fine. I'll call you when I talk to Jess. Asa: Fine. Niki: [Normal voice] Yes! Ben: Wait; wait, we're in the middle of something important here. Niki: [As Viki] I need air. Ben: Well, just don't go, don't go. I never want you to be afraid to tell me what you feel. Niki: Oh, Ben, you don't know what you're saying. Ben: There's nothing you could say to me that would make me turn away from you. Niki: Oh, how can you not turn away from me when I just told you that my greatest fear is that I hate my own child? Ben: But you're dealing with it. Just let me help! Natalie turned your world upside down. It's only natural that you would have mixed feelings. Niki: Mixed? According to Rae, they're not mixed at all. I hate her! Ben: But you'll find a way to love her. Natalie was despicable when she showed up, but everything's changing now. Niki: No. No, I'm no better than Roxanne. Ben: Oh, that's ridiculous! Niki: No, it's not ridiculous because from the moment I realized what I was suppressing, I could not even bear to look at that girl. Oh, Ben, I need -- I need to get away. I need some time away. Ben: I just don't think that running away is the answer. Maybe if we go away for a weekend -- Niki: No, no, no, no, you don't understand what I’m saying. Please, I just need some time alone. *********************************************** Roxy: You know, you're creeping me out. Would you say something? Allison: Just drive, Roxy. Roxy: So you stopped Jessica from going to the police and telling them that we were scamming her, right? Right? Allison: I said I would and I did. Keep your eyes on the road. Roxy: What am I driving this hunk of junk for, anyway? Allison: It's going to rain. I don't like it when it storms. I don't like to drive. Roxy: Hmm, something that finally spooks you out. Allison: You're giving me a headache. Roxy: Well, then you drive. This is a lemon. Look at it, veering to the right. Allison: Keep your hands on the wheel, you idiot! Roxy: Ooh, something that spooks you out. Allison: You do that again and I'll give you something to be afraid of. Roxy: So what's the next move? Allison: Never mind. The less you know about it, the better it is for both of us. *********************************************** Jessica: Is that thunder? Seth: Yeah, it's going to rain. Hey, don't worry, ok? I'm going to take care of you. [Jessica groans] Seth: The only way out of here is back up the hill. Jessica: No, no, no. Please don't go. Seth: I have to go. I can hear you if you get scared, ok? Jessica: No, please -- Seth: Jess, I have to. We have to get you to a hospital, and the only way that's going to happen is if I go back up there and flag somebody down, ok? I'll be right back. Jessica: Please don't go. Please, Seth, don't go. Seth: Ok, ok. The storm's getting closer. We're going to have to move. I know it hurts, but can you stand up? Jessica: Yeah. Seth: Want to try? Jessica: Oh, no! Oh, my ankle! Seth: Ok, I got you. There we go. Ok, I got you. You're going to be ok. You're going to be ok. I'm going to take care of you, ok? *********************************************** Natalie: I asked Seth to meet me here. Max: Seth doesn't work here anymore. Natalie: Yeah, but maybe that can change. Here's $992 -- the exact amount that was missing when Seth made that deposit. Max: He sent you here to do his dirty work for him? Natalie: You've got Seth all wrong. He feels terrible about what happened. Max: He should. He's a thief. An unemployed thief. This is your money, isn't it? Natalie: He didn't steal the money, but he does feel responsible. Max: Hmm. Natalie: I mean, you trusted him with it. So that money should square things up. Max: Oh, and then what? Natalie: Can Seth have his job back now? Max: You got to be kidding. Chad, count that up for me, would you? I'll think about Seth’s job. Al: Well, Natalie, you seem awfully proud of yourself. Natalie: Things are looking up, Al. Looks like our little plan worked like a charm. Al: Your little plan. Remember that. Natalie: You know, I knew Seth and Jessica didn't belong together. I never would've doubted. Al: Whatever. Natalie: Don't forget -- no one can know about our little arrangement, ok? Al: Yeah, same goes for you, Natalie. Natalie: I just can't wait. Soon, the both of us are going to end up with the people we belong with. *********************************************** Jen: I'll just go find Professor Reynolds and I’ll get her to find us other partners. Cristian: That's not what I meant, Jen. You know, I keep trying to pretend that it doesn't bother me that you're marrying Al, but it does bother me. It bothers me a whole lot. Jen: Cristian, I'm sorry, but -- Cristian: I know what you're going to say. But I also know what it feels like when we touch, Jen. Jen: We shouldn't be doing this. Cristian: Yes, we should. Jen, I want to spend every minute that I can with you. I mean, all I do is pray that Al would get off his chair and walk again so you'd be free. Jen: But it's not going to happen, maybe never. Cristian: I'm not giving up on us, Jen. I can’t. Jen: You have to. It's over. Cristian: No. No, it's not over. It's not over until you and Al say, "I do" to each other. *********************************************** Chad: It's all there, boss. Max: Yeah, I figured. What do you make of this Seth conspiracy thing? Chad: Why would anybody bother setting Seth up? Max: I have no idea. This Allison Perkins is a real whack job from what I've heard. Chad: I don't know, do what you want, Max. But at least Seth works hard. And if he ever works around me, the guy's not going to get away with nothing, believe me. Max: Good. All right, money's all there, I'm understaffed, so if he promises to be like a choirboy, I will give Seth his job back. Al: Oh, Dad, that's great. Natalie: I can't wait to tell him. Max: I don't know if he realizes how lucky he is, having you two watch his back like this. I hope he appreciates it. *********************************************** Jen: You have to stop torturing yourself. Cristian: I can't help the way I feel, Jen, and I’m not going to hide it. You can't just make me stop loving you just like that. Jen: Cristian -- Cristian: I'm sorry. That's the way it is. *********************************************** Jen: Let's go home, ok, as soon as possible. I have a really long day tomorrow. Al: Ok, yeah, right now. We can go right now, ok? Jen: Ok. Al: I'm going to go. See you later, Dad. Max: All right, get home safe, you two. Natalie: Bye. Jen: Let's get married right away, ok? *********************************************** Troy: So you think that getting involved with me would be a mistake? Nora: Oh, I don't know what I think. Troy: I don't -- ugh! -- I don't care what you think, Nora. What do you feel? Nora: Overwhelmed! I feel overwhelmed, ok? So much has happened. I don't know, I just -- I -- I'm overwhelmed. Troy: Ok, you're right, you're right. So much has happened. But, Nora, if I could go back to when you and I first met, I wouldn't change anything. I would do everything exactly the same. Nora: Oh, I don't think I want to hear that. Troy: You know something, Nora -- I'm not always going to tell you what you want to hear. But I will guarantee you this -- I will always tell you the truth. Nora: And how can I be so sure? I've -- I've heard you tell Lindsay truths. Troy: You know how I feel about you. Nora: Don't feel that way about me. Troy: Oh, you don't have any right to tell me how I can or cannot feel, and please don't even try denying your feelings, Nora. It was no accident that I walked back into st. Ann's exactly when you needed me the most. Something brought us together. And I believe that that's where we were meant to be. And you know something else? Someday you will, too. *********************************************** Ben: Why are you shutting me out like this? Niki: [As Viki] Because Natalie is my problem. Ben: No, we deal with these things together. Niki: I just told you something so horrendous about the way I feel about Natalie. Why would you even want to be with me? Ben: I always want to be with you. Oh -- think of what we've survived so far -- cancer, hit men, Gina Russo. Hell, we even survived Asa. I thought I'd get a little smile out of you there. That's kind of the Viki I know. Let me help you. Niki: Oh, Ben. Ben: I know one thing I can do for this right now. Great, I got a machine. Rae, this is Ben Davidson -- Niki: No, no, no! You can't call her. You can't do that. Ben: Why not? What are you so afraid of? *********************************************** Nora: Wait a minute. Just wait a minute. Don't you start pulling that magnetic, mystical stuff on me. You came back to St. Ann's because you left your I.D. Troy: As far as you know. But it doesn't matter why I came back to St. Ann's, Nora. I'm just very glad that I was there to protect you from Lindsay. Nora: Well, so am I. And -- just don't go overboard with that cosmic, magnetic stuff. Troy: Whatever you say, Counselor. Nora: Good. Troy: Thank you for being so honest with me. Nora: God, thank you, for -- everything. Troy: Oh, I didn't give you everything yet. You want me to give you a lift home? Nora: No. Thank you. Troy: Ok. Nora: I'm fine. I'm confused, conflicted, overwhelmed, but I’m fine. Nora: Troy -- Troy: Good night, Nora. Nora: Good night. *********************************************** Natalie: You look pretty awful. Wish there was something I could do. Cristian: Not unless you could make Al walk again. Natalie: Look, I wish I could stop you from hurting, but I can’t. I know how much you love Jen. Cristian: Then you know it's not going to get better. Natalie: Ok, it's kind of a cliche, but some things, they happen for a reason, even when you don't know why. Cristian: No offense, Natalie, but you're making it worse. Natalie: Sorry. Well, I just -- I believe that very soon, we're going to be with the people we belong with. Cristian: Yeah. You believe in that bull, huh? Natalie: Have to. Or else how could I keep going? *********************************************** Al: I can't believe it's really going to happen. *********************************************** Roxy: What are we looking for, anyway? Allison: Stop the car. Roxy: What? Allison: Now, Roxy. Roxy: All of a sudden I got to stop the car? What's with that? Allison: I need some fresh air. You stay put. Allison: Drive. Roxy: Where? Allison: Far away. *********************************************** Seth: Ok. We'll wait here until it gets light out, and then I'll figure out how to get us some help. Jessica: Thank you. Seth: Just try and get some sleep, ok? Jessica: So tired. Seth: Everything will be better in the morning, ok? Don't worry. *********************************************** Niki: [As Viki] I know you're only trying to help. I'm sorry. I'm so on edge. Ben: I've never seen you like this before. Niki: I'm sorry, I’m sorry. I just overreacted. I -- I’m wrung out, and I know that everything's going to look so much better in the morning. Please, Ben, please, you go on upstairs. I just need a minute to myself. I'll be there shortly. Ben: Don't take too long. Niki: I won’t. Niki: [Normal voice] Oh, man. Now, that is a damn shame. What a waste. I could have such a lot of fun with the Doc. Whoo! Man, he's hot! But I got to keep my hands off him for a while. Got to work on my Viki. Keep working. Whoo! All right! So Ben and the shrink think that Viki hates her kid. Step one accomplished! Man, wouldn't they die if they knew the real secret. >> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "One Life to Live." *********************************************** >> On the next "One Life to Live" -- Al: I can't wait. I want to get married as soon as we can. Starr: I think the lady will think that we're a perfect family. Blair: Perfect. Todd: So you think I should tell Blair the truth, right? Antonio: I just want to make sure that I'm not making things worse for you. Ben: Where'd you go this morning? When I woke up, you weren't there. Back to The TV MegaSite's OLTL Site
