Renee: He's a loan shark, a thief. He's an extortionist. He's --
Keri: My father.
----------------------------------
Nora: Does that mean you're going to marry me?
Sam: No.
----------------------------------
Troy: "Patients have experienced an increased ability to contact the truth."
----------------------------------
Jen: I'm not pregnant.
----------------------------------
Cristian: You can never have Jen -- ever!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
[Captioning made possible by ABC, Inc., and Soapnet]
Cristian: Jen will never love you.
Al: Yeah?
Cristian: Not after what you did to her.
Al: Well, she'll never give you a baby, not after what you did to her.
Jen: No!
----------------------------------
R.J.: Max? You checking out the competition already?
Max: Are you kidding? This place can't compete with the Break Bar.
R.J.: Well, maybe not yet.
Max: Yeah, we'll see.
R.J.: Hey, you know I built Break Bar.
Max: I know it. Then you sold your share to me.
R.J.: And I was ready to let it go. That's why you got such a good price.
Max: And I thought it was because you couldn't say no to a pretty face.
R.J.: Right.
Max: Hey, what's the real story here, huh? What, you getting too much heat from the police over at Break Bar? You think things are going to change because you move over here?
R.J.: The police have absolutely no reason to trouble me.
Max: Excuse me?
R.J.: You heard me.
Max: Ah. So, what is this? You telling me that you're -- you're going legit?
R.J.: That is exactly what I’m telling you.
Max: Why?
R.J.: Why -- can't I have simply found a new respect for the law?
Max: No.
R.J.: Well, no, but I have found something that I do respect a great deal.
Max: What?
R.J.: My daughter.
----------------------------------
Keri: What?
Antonio: I've got something I want to give you to say thank you for submitting me for the award.
Keri: Oh, this is a beautiful lodge.
Antonio: How would you like to spend the weekend there?
Keri: Antonio, if I had known you'd do this, I would have submitted you for that award a lot earlier.
Antonio: I haven't even told you what we're going to do there yet.
Keri: Are we going to go for long walks in the woods?
Antonio: Maybe.
Keri: Are we going to come in all cold and covered with snow and warm up by the fireplace with hot chocolate?
Antonio: Hmm, maybe.
Keri: And what if the fire doesn't keep me warm?
Antonio: Well, then, I guess I’m just going to have to come up with another way.
Keri: Really?
Antonio: Mm-hmm.
Keri: Like what?
Antonio: You're just going to have to wait and see.
Keri: Ok. Ok. I just have one question.
Antonio: What?
Keri: How soon can we leave?
Antonio: Hmm. Not soon enough.
----------------------------------
Troy: Mrs. Buchanan. What are you doing here?
Gabrielle: Well, I -- I just signed up to be part of a medical study -- yours, apparently.
Troy: Wow. That's a surprise.
Gabrielle: Is there a problem?
Troy: No, no, no, no. Not at all. Look, Mrs. Buchanan --
Gabrielle: Oh, could you -- could you call me Gabrielle?
Troy: Ok.
Gabrielle: Thanks.
Troy: Gabrielle. Here, have a seat, Gabrielle.
Gabrielle: Thank you.
Troy: So, why did you choose to be a part of this study?
Gabrielle: Well, you may have heard that I recently left my husband.
Troy: Yes, I had heard that Asa faked his own death.
Gabrielle: Anyhow, I've decided to, well, start a new, more fulfilling life, one that contributes much more to society. And if that means being part of the advancement in medicine, then I’m very happy to help.
Troy: So you're not interested in the fee that you'll be paid?
Gabrielle: Fee? Oh, good heavens. I had no idea.
Troy: Really? Because, you know, it was mentioned in the ad.
Gabrielle: Oh. Well, if you have to give me a fee for legal reasons, I totally understand. But as I said, I’m simply here for the advancement of mankind. So, what is it that I can do for you?
Troy: Well, all you have to do is drink this.
----------------------------------
[Doorbell rings]
Sam: I'll get rid of them.
Lindsay: Oh -- just the person I wanted to see.
Sam: Lindsay, this is not a good time.
Lindsay: Ok, actually, that's all right because the person I wanted to see is Jen. Do you know where she is?
----------------------------------
Jen: Al! Al! Where are you, Al? Oh, my God. Is he dead?
Cristian: Jen, you don't know that.
Jen: He's not moving! Al!
Cristian: I got to get down there.
Jen: No, I'll go. I'll go.
Cristian: No.
Jen: It is my fault --
Cristian: Jen, you're pregnant!
Jen: Cristian --
Cristian: Look, we don't have time to argue, ok? I got to find a way to get down there, ok, so just relax. Hang on, Al. I'm coming. I'm coming to get you.
Jen: Al!
Cristian: It's the only way down.
Jen: No, it's too steep!
Cristian: I have to make it.
Jen: Be careful.
Cristian: Call 911.
Jen: Hello? Yes, I need help. My friend's hurt. Please, we're at the quarry north of Llanview. Please. He's not moving. I don't -- I don't know. I don't know! Just please send somebody!
----------------------------------
Sam: Jen's not here. Did something happen?
Lindsay: Well, she had a rough day --
Sam: Lindsay --
Lindsay: But she's fine.
Sam: She's fine?
Lindsay: She's fine. Really, Sam, why do you always assume the worst? I want to see her. I thought she might be here.
Sam: Well, she's not.
Lindsay: So you say.
Sam: And as long as she's fine --
Lindsay: And she is.
Sam: Then good night, Lindsay.
Lindsay: Oh. Well. How cozy.
Sam: Go, Lindsay. That way.
Lindsay: Actually, it's a really good thing that Nora’s here because that means she won't be showing up at Troy’s later and we might have a little privacy.
Sam: Good night, Lindsay.
----------------------------------
Gabrielle: So -- ahem -- what's supposed to happen?
Troy: Well, actually, I can't tell you because it would influence your reactions.
Gabrielle: Oh. But it's harmless?
Troy: Completely. And I want you to know that anything that happens in this office is completely confidential.
Gabrielle: Well, that's a bit worrisome.
Troy: Well, I'd understand if you wanted to leave.
Gabrielle: Isn't there another trial I could be part of?
Troy: Not one that would help mankind, no.
Gabrielle: What about the fee?
Troy: I thought you weren't interested in the fee.
Gabrielle: Of course I'm interested in that. It's the only reason I’m here.
Troy: I hadn't realized.
Gabrielle: Asa left me, my son hates me, and the love of my life despises me beyond comprehension.
----------------------------------
R.J.: Here.
Max: Since when do you have a daughter?
R.J.: Since about, oh, a few weeks ago.
Max: What?
R.J.: Her name is Keri Reynolds, ok, and she is a professor at Llanview University.
Max: Wait a minute. Keri Reynolds?
R.J.: Mm-hmm.
Max: I think Al may have her for a class.
R.J.: You and Al are speaking again?
Max: Yes, we are.
R.J.: Oh. What happened? Hell freeze over?
Max: No. I finally caught on to what Gabrielle is, and I think he did, too.
R.J.: Oh. It only took the better part of a year.
Max: I just hope he doesn't follow in his old man's footsteps. No woman's worth what I went through.
R.J.: Hey, hey, be careful how you talk about women, ok? My daughter is one of them.
[Max laughs]
R.J.: Fine, fine. Who are you laughing about, huh?
Max: R.J., The protective dad. What are you going to do -- waiting out on the porch with a shotgun?
R.J.: Well, yeah, I need one. This one's loaded.
Max: Excuse me?
R.J.: He's -- he's a cop.
Max: Hey, what do you care now that you're on the straight and narrow, unless --
R.J.: Max --
Max: Antonio Vega?
[Max laughs]
R.J.: Max, I told you to stop your grinning, all right?
Max: Oh, no, no, no, no.
R.J.: Max, just shut up. Just shut up.
Max: Wait, wait, wait -- no, wait, wait. Tell me, what happened when she found out that she's dating her father's worst enemy?
R.J.: She does not know that I know him, ok? I'm doing everything I can to make sure she does not find out how much we hate each other.
----------------------------------
Renee: Hi. I hope you guys will order something special because it's on the house.
Keri: What?
Antonio: Why?
Renee: I owe Ms. Reynolds an apology.
Keri: Oh, Renee, it's ok.
Renee: No, no, no, it isn't. I was out of line when I refused you that table. Your father may not be a person that I am terribly fond of, but compared to an ex-husband of mine, he's looking pretty good these days. So I would appreciate it if you would accept my apology.
Keri: Of course. Thank you.
Renee: Enjoy.
Antonio: She refused to serve you?
Keri: Yes.
Antonio: Because of your father?
Keri: Yes.
Antonio: I -- I think it's time you told me who your father is.
Keri: I was hoping this could wait.
Antonio: Why?
Keri: Because when I tell you who he is -- even my father asked me not to tell you who he is.
Antonio: He -- he knows who I am?
Keri: I didn't tell him your name, but he knows you're a cop, and he thinks that all cops hate him.
Antonio: Well, cops only hate bad guys.
Keri: Right.
Antonio: Is he a bad guy?
Keri: No. At least I don't think so. But you probably know him by reputation.
Antonio: Don't you know how crazy I am about you? No matter who your father is, it isn't going to change that.
Keri: I'm crazy about you, too.
Antonio: So no matter who your father is, we can deal.
Officer: Antonio -- excuse me, but, Officer Vega, I've got that information you wanted.
Antonio: Perfect timing, as usual. Excuse me.
[Phone rings]
Keri: Hello?
R.J.: Hey. Are you busy?
Keri: I was. Why?
R.J.: I want you to come by 10 South Street for a minute.
Keri: Oh. I don't know if I can.
R.J.: I have a surprise for you.
Keri: I'll try.
R.J.: Try hard, ok? It's -- it's important.
----------------------------------
Antonio: How many were you able to get?
Officer: All of them.
Antonio: Great. Thanks. Oh. I didn't think I took that long.
Keri: No, you didn't. I -- my father just called.
Antonio: Oh. Did he tell you not to tell me who he is?
Keri: He wants to see me tonight. I was thinking maybe we could go by after dinner?
Antonio: Oh, "we"?
Keri: I think it's time you finally met.
Antonio: Honey, I’d -- I would love to, but --
Keri: But you do have to go to work.
Antonio: Yeah. I -- I’ll meet him next time. I promise.
Keri: Well, you've made me feel like it's going to be easy.
Antonio: It will be.
Keri: See you later.
Antonio: Ok.
----------------------------------
R.J.: Ok, Max, it's time for you to get out.
Max: Why?
R.J.: Because Keri is coming by.
Max: So, what, I can't meet her? Introduce me.
R.J.: No. You will say something about Vega.
Max: No. Scout's honor -- I won't say a word, promise. Come on, half the people in this town know how much you hate Vega. It's just a matter of time before one of them tells her.
R.J.: Well -- well, a lot can happen in a matter of time, all right? Max, you know as well as I do that Vega’s luck with women is almost as bad as yours. Huh? I mean, he gets them but he doesn't keep them. Even your sister figured out that the loser was a loser, all right? So Keri will figure it out eventually, right? Hey, even you finally figured out Gabrielle.
Max: Oh, yeah, after she had me run around in circles doing whatever she wanted.
R.J.: Not everyone falls as hard as you.
Max: Yeah, while all the while she's planning to frame me for murder.
R.J.: Well, not everyone's as stupid as you, either. Especially not my daughter.
Gabrielle: Oh, doc, it's hot in here. How do you work in this humidity? Ok, I married Asa to get back at Max.
Troy: I see.
Gabrielle: So I seduced Max. It's just that I -- I fell in love with him, you see. And then Asa started pressuring me and pressuring me to make sure that Max would go to jail. But I couldn't do that to Max.
Troy: You couldn't, huh?
Gabrielle: No, of course I couldn't. Of course I couldn't do that to Max. I -- well, you see, it left me only one thing that I could do.
Troy: And what was that?
Gabrielle: Doc -- doctor, do -- do you remember that day that I asked you about Asa’s heart medicine?
Troy: I do.
Gabrielle: Well, I only did that as a ruse, you see, to cover my tracks.
Troy: Is that so?
Gabrielle: You see, I realized how desperate this situation really was and that there was only one thing I could do. I had to kill Asa myself so that Max and I could live happily ever after.
Troy: And then what happened?
Gabrielle: Well, of course, I lost my nerve. And then, of course, that old coot went and died all by himself -- or at least I certainly thought he was dead, didn't I?
Troy: But then he came back.
Gabrielle: Oh. Oh, boy, did he come back. Oh. He came back with a vengeance, and he left me with nothing -- absolutely penniless.
Troy: I'm sorry to hear that.
Gabrielle: So this -- this fee -- you're going to give it to me in cash, right?
Troy: Yes, I will.
Gabrielle: Oh. Hey, could you tell me how much it's going to be?
Troy: I believe that that was mentioned in the ad.
Gabrielle: Oh, that's not going to be enough. No, no, you see, that's not going to be near enough.
Troy: I'm sorry. That's very unfortunate.
Gabrielle: There's got to be something I can do with this Bo I must be able to sell it somehow without going to prison, right?
[Knock on door]
Lindsay: Troy?
Troy: You know what? Excuse me just for a second.
Lindsay: Hi.
Troy: Hey.
Lindsay: Can I talk to you for a minute?
Troy: Uh –
----------------------------------
Jen: Cristian, is he all right?
Cristian: Al -- Al, can you hear me?
[Sirens]
Cristian: You're going to be fine, man. The ambulance is coming. You'll be ok.
Jen: Cristian? Is he ok? Cristian?
----------------------------------
R.J.: Hey. You made it.
Keri: I said I would try.
R.J.: But you also said that you were busy.
Keri: Well, I was, but my boyfriend had to work, so --
R.J.: Really? What does he do?
Keri: He's a cop.
Max: You don't say.
R.J.: This is Max, and Max was just leaving.
Max: Yes --
R.J.: Weren't you, Max?
Max: I have a club I need to tend to. Break Bar.
Keri: I thought that was your club.
Max: Oh, it was. R.J. and I were partners, but he was kind enough to sell me his share.
Keri: You did? Why?
Max: Well --
R.J.: Well, Max had a run of bad luck, you know, and I -- I took pity on him.
Max: Oh, yes, he did. You're so generous. Thank you, thank you, sir. Thank you --
R.J.: That's enough. That's -- you can go.
Max: Oh, good-bye. Oh, Keri? I -- there's a bartender that works in my club -- his brother's a cop.
R.J.: Good-bye, Max. Bye-bye.
Max: Listen, it was so nice to meet you.
Keri: It was nice to meet you.
Max: And, listen, if you decided to dump that boyfriend of yours --
R.J.: Max, don't even think about it.
Keri: That's quite an offer, but I have no intention of dumping my boyfriend.
Max: Really? You don't say. Well, my loss. Nice meeting you. Bye-bye.
R.J.: Bye. Stay away from him, please.
Keri: Don't worry.
R.J.: Well?
Keri: So --
R.J.: What do you think of the new club?
Keri: This is what you wanted to show me.
R.J.: Yep. Yeah. So, do you -- do you like it?
Keri: Yeah, I love it. It looks great.
R.J.: Good. I'm glad you approve.
Keri: I do, but why did you name it Capricorn?
R.J.: For you. That's your birth sign, right?
----------------------------------
Antonio: You're sure everything's in order?
Officer: You need backup?
Antonio: No, no, this is one job I'm going to do by myself. R.J.'s finally going to pay for what he did to my brother. Let's get out of here.
----------------------------------
Cristian: Jen, it's ok! He's breathing! Al's breathing!
[Sirens]
Cristian: But he's bleeding pretty bad!
Jen: But is he going to be all right? Cristian?
Cristian: I don't know. You got to make it, man. You better make it through this.
[Sirens]
Fireman: Where's the vict?
Jen: He's down there.
Fireman: What happened?
Jen: He fell.
Fireman: You got the harnesses?
Second fireman: Yeah, I got them.
Jen: He was fighting with my boyfriend.
Fireman: Where's your boyfriend?
Jen: He's down there. He went after him. Please, you've got to help him.
Fireman: We'll get him.
Second fireman: Let's go.
Jen: He fell because of me.
----------------------------------
Lindsay: Everything's falling into place.
Troy: Just the way you planned it, huh?
Lindsay: Yeah. Jen will be happy with Al, he'll always love her, and someday I'll make her understand that I only had her best interests at heart.
Troy: Absolutely.
Lindsay: So?
Troy: So?
Lindsay: Am I going to see you later?
Troy: I'd love to. I'll tell you what -- why don't you meet me at my place in a half an hour?
Lindsay: I'll see you in 29 minutes and 60 seconds.
Troy: You better.
Lindsay: Ok.
----------------------------------
Gabrielle: Dr. MacIver, I'm so glad you've come back in. Look, about those things I said, I -- I don't know why I said them.
Troy: You mean about Max plotting with you to kill Asa?
Gabrielle: Yes. Maybe I was just giving vent to all the horrible things that people have been saying about me and I was being ironic. But you knew that, right?
Troy: You were being ironic, huh?
Gabrielle: Yeah. And wanting to do this for the money -- heavens. That's the furthest thing from my mind.
Troy: I'll bet you were just being ironic again.
Gabrielle: Yeah. Of course. Although I don't really know why. Such heavy irony isn't really my style. Must be all the stress.
Troy: Must be.
Gabrielle: So, ok, when -- when does this experiment start?
Troy: Well, actually, it's already over.
Gabrielle: Well, I -- I -- I didn't feel a thing.
Troy: Well, that's great. So, remind me again, why did you choose to take part in this study?
Gabrielle: Oh, for -- for the -- for the betterment of mankind and for furthering medical advancement, yes.
Troy: Great. My assistant will be in touch to do the followup. Thank you very much, Gabrielle.
Gabrielle: Doctor, I have no idea what I did to help, but I'm glad I could be of service.
Troy: Oh, you were. Oh, before I forget -- your fee.
Gabrielle: Please, no.
Troy: No, no, no, no, no. Please. I insist.
Gabrielle: Ok. Well, I certainly hope others will benefit from my sacrifices here today.
Troy: Don't you worry. Others will definitely benefit.
----------------------------------
Nora: What did she want?
Sam: It doesn't matter.
Nora: It doesn't matter?
Sam: No. Because we're not going to talk about it.
Nora: We're not?
Sam: No. Not when you look this beautiful. And not when we're about to make love for the first time.
Nora: It really does seem like the first time, doesn't it?
Sam: Yes.
Nora: I unplugged your phone. And I turned off your cell phone. And I turned off your beeper.
Sam: You thought of everything.
Nora: Yes. Yes, I did.
----------------------------------
Keri: Capricorn is my sign.
R.J.: Good. I thought so.
Keri: How did you know that?
R.J.: Well, your mother and I were together in the spring, so I -- I added nine months and -- Capricorn.
Keri: Oh.
R.J.: You know, Keri, I want you to believe that I never would have left your mother like that with a child.
Keri: R.J. --
R.J.: If I’d have known -- I don't know what I would have done. I mean, I was on my way to prison. But I like to think that I would have thought of something.
Keri: Well, you are here now, so that's all that matters.
R.J.: Yeah, and I'm going to make it up to you. That is what this club is about.
Keri: Naming it Capricorn.
R.J.: Oh, no, much -- much more than that. See, this club is squeaky clean. Absolutely legit, aboveboard, on the level.
Keri: So Break Bar wasn't?
R.J.: Well, yes, it was, for a long time. But it didn't start that way. And I want you to be proud of me so that you can -- you can hold your head up when you tell the people in this town that -- that you're my daughter.
Keri: Even my boyfriend?
R.J.: When the time is right.
Keri: You're serious?
R.J.: Keri, I don't know what I did to deserve you. I don't think I did anything. But I'm going to start deserving you right now, so I'm going to show you that I'm a man worthy of knowing.
Keri: You are a man worth knowing. And I'm glad you're cleaning up your life because I don't want anything to happen to you. You're my father.
R.J.: So -- do you like it?
[Keri giggles]
Keri: Yeah. Yeah, I do. But, you know, something is missing.
R.J.: Well, with you here, it looks 100% better.
Keri: Something else. I'll be right back.
R.J.: Ok.
R.J.: And what good tidings have you brought me today?
Antonio: Building code violation, zoning violation, health department violation. You'll never open this place.
----------------------------------
[Knock on door]
Lindsay: Troy, it's me.
[Knock]
Troy: Coming.
Lindsay: Hi.
Troy: Hey.
Lindsay: Have you seen Jen?
Troy: No, I haven’t.
Lindsay: Huh. Because I went up to Christian’s apartment and she wasn't there.
Troy: Well, maybe she's just out.
Lindsay: No one was there, and her cell phone is turned off.
Troy: I'm sure she's fine.
Lindsay: I just want to make sure she's fine, and I want to tell her that this is all for the best.
Troy: She knows.
Lindsay: What if she doesn't?
Troy: She will. Just give her time.
Lindsay: Do you know that you are the only person that understands me?
Troy: I'm going to go pour us some wine.
Lindsay: Not yet.
Troy: Not yet?
Lindsay: Uh-uh.
Lindsay: Do you know we're not the only people that are spending time together tonight?
Troy: Is that so, huh? What's that supposed to mean?
Lindsay: Well, earlier when I was looking for Jen, I stopped by at Sam’s, and Nora was there.
Troy: Nora was there, huh?
Lindsay: Mm-hmm. And they were looking very cozy.
Troy: Well, that doesn't concern us now that we're together.
Lindsay: Are you really over Nora?
Troy: You can count on it.
----------------------------------
Sam: Nora?
Nora: Sam -- Sam: Hmm?
Nora: When I asked you to marry me and you turned me down -- no, no. You were right to turn me down. You were. I understand. I just want to make sure that you understand that married or not, I want to spend the rest of my life with you.
Sam: I want that, too.
Nora: I want to start my life over with you. I want to start my life over right now.
Singer: I've earned my sin nearly spent my soul I’ve lost my way until now on the world's edge I have found a door on the world's edge I can see again may the three guide my passage let it carry me home may the three guide my passage towards the island of light returning my elf uniform.
----------------------------------
R.J.: My paperwork is in, and this place is up to code.
Antonio: That says different.
R.J.: Fine. Then I’ll just have to go downtown and straighten this out.
Antonio: What, grease some palms?
R.J.: I am legit. These charges are false.
Antonio: Says you.
R.J.: Look, I am going to open my club. You are not going to stop me.
Antonio: I already have.
R.J.: Vega, listen to me. You do not want to fight me. Not now.
Antonio: Why? You going to get one of your goons to go after me like you did my brother?
R.J.: Your brother was a stoolie, and whatever he got he deserved and more!
Antonio: Don't you walk away --
Keri: Antonio, what are you doing? What are you doing to my father?
----------------------------------
Jen: How is he?
Paramedic: We don't know the extent of his injuries.
Jen: He's going to be ok, isn't he?
Paramedic: We don't know.
Jen: Oh, my God. What have we done?
----------------------------------
Nora: I love you, Sam.
Sam: I love you.
Nora: I wish this night would last forever.
Sam: We're going to have many nights like this, I promise.
Nora: How many?
Sam: How about every night for the rest of our lives?
Nora: Deal.
Singer: I can see again
----------------------------------
Lindsay: Do you know how happy I am? Hmm? I -- oh -- it's just so good for me to be with somebody who doesn't want Nora, you know? I -- I didn't know how good until now.
Troy: You deserve a man all your own.
Lindsay: That's you.
Troy: That's right. All those other men -- they didn't know how to treat you like I do.
Lindsay: No, they didn’t.
Lindsay: I almost feel sorry for Nora.
Troy: You do?
Lindsay: Mm-hmm. Because clearly everything that's happened between us has been quite the blow. I mean, did you see her face? Did you see her face when she walked into your apartment and found out that we were sleeping together? Priceless.
Troy: Well, she is just going to have to get used to it because you and I are together now. And I think that that calls for a toast. Don't you?
Lindsay: Why don't you let me help you?
Troy: Oh, no, no, no. You stay right here. You deserve to be waited on. Especially after everything you've done for your daughter.
[Music plays]
Lindsay: It's so nice to have somebody finally realize it.
Troy: How could I not? It's the absolute truth.

>> On the next "One Life to Live" --
R.J.: I am Keri’s father.
Natalie: What do you think you're doing?
Viki: Jessie, I would like to adopt you.
Troy: I'm sure I’ll believe everything you tell me tonight.
