Olivia: We want you to be okay.
Natalia: I know because we just can't help caring about each other, can we, Em?
Emma: Nope.
Reva: You're going to be a great father some day.
Shayne: How do you know?
Reva: Because you're a good person.
Shayne: Oh.
Reva: Don't you forget that.
Mallet: You're going to raise him. You've got all your family here, to support you. You're strong. I think this is the hardest thing I've ever done.
Olivia: Hey...
Lillian: What, did you run out of everything at the same time?
Mallet: No, Marina and I were just thinking that... well, I was going to tell you a lie, and there's no reason to do that because you'll probably find out soon enough. I've moved out.
Lillian: Why? No, it’s none of my business. I... does Marina's family know?
Mallet: I don't know. I don’t... I'm not sure. I haven't talked to her since I moved out.
Lillian: Mallet, well, I won't say anything.
Mallet: Thank you.
Lillian: Look, is there anything I can do for you?
Mallet: You can keep an eye on Marina for me.
Frank: Hey, baby girl. You got any orange juice because I've got a craving for orange juice. Rafe keeps drinking all mine.
Marina: There should be some in the fringe.
Frank: Ah, thank God. Good job, good job. Oh, nothing like a nice glass of orange juice. So what's going on? Oh, you need me to help you put that stuff in the basement?
Marina: No, it's all right. It's all Mallet's. He... he's going to be coming over to get it.
Frank: He's got a lot of stuff.
Marina: Yup.
Marina: It's all his stuff. Everything he owns. Except everything that he took with him yesterday.
Frank: Well, why is he getting rid of all this?
Marina: He's moving out.
Frank: I don't understand what you're saying. What are you talking about?
Marina: Dad, Mallet and I talked yesterday, and I can't explain all of the reasons to you right now. So I'm just going to need you to trust me, okay? But he's moving out. He's not going to live here anymore. And we are not going to be together anymore.
Frank: Wait, wait, hold, on a second here. I don't understand what you're saying here. What are you talking about? You guys have everything. You have everything. You have each other. You have this house. You have a baby. You've got good jobs. Come on... wait, wait. I know things have been tough at the restaurant, okay, but please, please, come on.
Marina: Please, Daddy, please, just trust me on this one, okay? It's just not right.
Frank: Just tell me what's going on. Just talk to your father. Listen, sweetheart, if you don't tell me, I'm... I'm going to go... fine, fine. I'm going to go... if you're not going to talk to me, I'm going to go find Mallet right now, and I'll get him to tell me everything that's going on.
Marina: No, Dad, please.
Frank: Oh, no. I'm not letting you guys make a mistake. Absolutely not.
Holly: Say, are those Buzz burgers as good as they used to be?
Blake: Hi, Mom.
Holly: I missed you.
Blake: No, you haven't missed me. You haven't called me at all.
Holly: You don't call me every day.
Blake: Who called who this time?
Holly: I've been meaning to visit, but you know, it's just hard to come by. So many memories.
Blake: They're not all bad, though.
Holly: No, most of them are good. You know, memories, they weigh you down.
Blake: I know. Kind of why I called you.
Olivia: Hello?
Natalia: Hi. So, I know two things about you. One, that you never make time to have breakfast at home. Two, that you really love to eat outside. Here you go. Would you like grapefruit or orange juice?
Olivia: Aren't you starting a new job today?
Natalia: Yes. But Spaulding offices don't open until 10:00, so I've got, like, two hours. You want to sit. Okay. I did... I did want to maybe take a walk around the building and go to the west side because I know that there's that beautiful...
Olivia: You got to stop, please. Please, we can't go back.
Natalia: I don't want to go back. I want to go forward.
Olivia: And that's what I'm trying to do. Honey, it's not going to happen. I can't let it.
Natalia: I know you feel that way now. But you're going to change your mind.
Olivia: Natalia...
Natalia: I know it's going to probably take a while. I know that. Because I am hearing what you are saying. I am. But I can wait. I can wait a really long time. I'm very patient. It's not like we haven't waited before. We waited forever to be honest with each other. We waited for Frank and Rafe to be okay. You waited for me to come back. And it took a little too long. And I'm sorry. I really regret that. I know I hurt you. But we love each other. And we can work it out. I have to... I have to stick to it. And I will. So, I'm going to leave you and let you have your breakfast. I'm going to get ready to go to my new job. Eat. I have some raspberry preserves here, and I know that they're your favorite.
Holly: So you like working in the restaurant.
Blake: I love it. The people, the pace. I tell everyone what to do. Besides, I never have to think about cooking.
Holly: Is he hiring?
Blake: If it means keeping you in town, he would.
Holly: Can't stay. I can't even stay put where I am.
Blake: I'm glad you're here now, though. I needed my mom.
Holly: Why?
Blake: Can we talk about it later?
Holly: We don't have to talk about it at all, but I get this feeling you have something you want to say.
Blake: I do. I do. I don't know what it is, though. Well, maybe I'll be able to figure it out if I go off and do a few errands.
Holly: Errands? I came all this way to run errands?
Blake: Well, you came early. You were supposed to come this afternoon. So why don't you just go visit, and I'll meet you for lunch, okay?
Holly: You're an odd child.
Blake: I get it from my mom.
Holly: And your dad.
Marina: There they are, bud. There's your friends, the ducks. Listen, I know that your daddy used to... Mallet used to bring you here a lot to see those guys. And now it's just going to be me, okay? Mommy's going to bring you. Mallet's going to visit us sometimes. But we're probably not going to see him so much anymore. I know. It's not because he doesn't love us. He does. He loves us very much. (Henry cries) I know. He just wants to make sure that he's doing the right thing for us. I'm so sorry I'm crying, bud, I just... sometimes grown-ups get sad, and we can't help it.
Lillian: Marina? You okay?
Marina: Hey, yeah. I was just telling Henry the story about the ducks, and I just started crying and I don't even know why.
Lillian: Oh, sweetheart, you don't have to pretend with me. I just... I just saw Mallet and he told me.
Marina: Why? Why does this have to happen?
Lillian: Oh.
Mallet: Okay, you're welcome.
Frank: What the hell is going on?
Mallet: Hi, Frank.
Frank: That's all you have to say for yourself. Because I just left Marina at the house and she was packing all your stuff up in boxes, and she just told me that it was over between the two of you. And you know what? And she wouldn't tell me why. So you know what? I decided to come down here and give you the opportunity to explain yourself, before I jumped to any conclusions.
Mallet: Okay. There are some things going on that have made it impossible for me to stay.
Frank: What things?
Mallet: At the moment, Frank, I'm not at liberty to say.
Frank: Okay, well, that's just not an acceptable answer.
Mallet: Well, Frank, that's the only answer I've got.
Frank: Okay. Well, guess what, Mallet? That is just not good enough. My daughter, man, she stood next to you and she vowed her love to you. And you vowed your love back to her. I know you, man. You're my best friend. You would never leave for no reason at all.
Mallet: I have reasons.
Frank: Okay, then just tell me what it is. Just tell me, Mallet.
Mallet: Frank, I can’t. Right now, I just can’t.
Frank: You did it again, didn't you?
Mallet: What? No, no, no, Frank, this is not the same thing.
Frank: You did it again. Well, you know what? I'm glad, man. I'm glad. I'm glad my daughter is finding out now before you completely break her heart.
Mallet: Frank, this is completely different!
Frank: Is it?
Mallet: Yes!
Frank: No, it's not! It's the same thing, Mallet! Get out of here. Get out of here. I never want to see you again. And I don't want my daughter to ever see your face again. Now go.
Mallet: Still got a pretty good slider.
Shayne: Pretty good slider and no use for it. Lucky me.
Mallet: I've been looking for you. I think we need to talk.
Shayne: It's going to be today.
Mallet: I wanted to say that I appreciate you stepping up for Henry and, you know, giving the doctor your medical history.
Shayne: We all want what's best for him, right?
Mallet: We do. We want what's best for him. That's why I wanted to talk to you. I want Henry to have a good life, and that's why I'm so glad that Henry has Marina because I can't imagine a mother anywhere in the world that could love him more.
Shayne: I agree.
Mallet: And Henry has a father, but it's not me. And as much as I would like to fill that role, you're here. And I know and you know that you want to be a part of Henry’s life. There's nothing I can do to stop that. And I wouldn’t. I mean, why would I do that? I wouldn't even try. You're his dad. I just... let me finish. Marina and I were talking about it, and we don't want Henry to end up in a place where he feels torn or confused. And we can't ask you to stay out of it. We wouldn't do that. I don't know how to stay out of it and be pushed to the outside. I don't think that that's good for anybody. So I've moved out.
Shayne: Mallet, wait, what about Marina? What are you doing?
Mallet: I love Marina. I'll always love her. But we... we love Henry. And I think that we have to do what's best for Henry. And I think you have to do that, too. I guess I've come here to tell you that it's time for you to step up, Shayne. Henry's your son. And you need to be his dad. So... you teach him how to throw that slider.
Lillian: He is such a beautiful baby. Oh, Henry. You don't think you and Mallet could maybe think things over, take some time. I mean, for Henry’s sake.
Marina: Everything we're doing is for Henry. Everything we have ever done is because we love him.
Lillian: That doesn't make sense, honey.
Marina: Mallet's not Henry’s father.
Lillian: Well, I know that. I mean, you adopted him. So you're not his biological mother.
Marina: Well, his biological mother is dead. Henry's father is Shayne Lewis.
Lillian: How? What?
Marina: Mallet adopted him in Bosnia. And by some crazy miracle, it turns out that he is Shayne and Lara’s baby. We've all known for a while now, and we thought that we could make it work. But it just keeps getting more complicated. You know, every day Shayne becomes more and more a part of Henry’s life. And Mallet and I just want to make sure that, you know, it's not...
Lillian: What, confusing? So Mallet is going to step aside so that Shayne can be the father and you're going to give up the man you love for this?
Marina: It's pretty stupid, huh?
Lillian: Yeah, it is stupid. But I... I think you're two of the bravest people I've ever known.
Frank: You know what? I'm going to get another one.
Olivia: Frank, you're about to be a papa again soon. You want to set a better example?
Frank: Knock it off, Olivia. I've had a crappy day. I don't need any lip from you.
Olivia: Right. I was... I was really just trying to be funny.
Frank: Stuff it.
Olivia: Okay.
Frank: How much?
Olivia: A cup of coffee.
Frank: Olivia.
Olivia: No, it wasn't a judgment. I was just pouring myself a cup, and I didn't know if you wanted one. And you know what? The muffins... well, the muffin, the one they have left, is really good here.
Frank: Believe it or not, this has absolutely nothing to do with you, Natalia or the baby.
Olivia: Okay.
Frank: But Marina and Mallet are breaking up.
Olivia: I'm... I had no idea.
Frank: Yeah, it came out of nowhere.
Olivia: Frank, I'm sorry. I thought they were happy.
Frank: So did I. Thanks.
Holly: Hey, Doc. Okay if I come in?
Ed: Oh, my. I never thought I would be so lucky as to run into you while I was here.
Holly: Well, I must have missed your call letting me know you'd be here.
Ed: (Laughs) Come on. I've been doing a research project. I didn't know how long I was going to be in town.
Holly: How long?
Ed: Just a couple more weeks, I guess. How about you?
Holly: Just today.
Ed: See, you were always harder to pin down than me. Always have been. Oh, my, you look just like you always look, beautiful.
Holly: Thank you.
Ed: So how is your life, what...
Holly: Different. Simple. I made a lot of changes a few years ago and found work that I like, a place to live that suits me, and I travel.
Ed: Sounds like you're free.
Holly: I am. Finally.
Blake: Oh, Frank, are those all for you?
Frank: Yeah, they are.
Blake: Frank, it's 10:00 A.M..
Frank: Blake, I'm not drinking those now. I'm drinking them tonight, all right? Right now I'm just heating a muffin and having some coffee. Is that okay?
Blake: What's up?
Frank: Marina and Mallet are breaking up.
Blake: What? Why?
Frank: They're not even giving me any reasons, or they don't want to.
Blake: Well, that's terrible. I mean, they're both nice people.
Frank: Exactly. So why don't they stick it out? Why don't they just try to figure the whole thing out? I mean...
Blake: Frank, maybe there's nothing to figure out. Sometimes people just... stop being together.
Frank: But that's so sad.
Blake: I know, but love doesn't always end happy.
Frank: Love should never end.
Blake: No, it shouldn’t. But sometimes it does.
I tried wishing on a star I'm still here
you're so far away across the water
said a prayer on my knee nothing happened that I can see
you're still across the water I said I'm waiting over there above
oh, I'm waiting on a miracle oh, waiting on a miracle
you'll do anything
to make them look.
Daisy: Hey, is Marina here? Because I got Lynn to cover lunch, but I just need to check with Marina. Where are you going?
Mallet: I'm moving out.
Daisy: Does Marina know?
Mallet: Yeah, yeah. We.. of course, she does. We talked about it.
Daisy: You're moving out today?
Mallet: Today, yeah.
Daisy: Okay, so you're just going to move out like that. Are you guys getting a divorce or...
Mallet: Well, yeah, I mean, we've agreed that I can't live here any more.
Daisy: That’s.... that's stupid. That sucks.
Mallet: Yeah. Yeah, it does. It really sucks.
Daisy: Everyone's going to be mad at you.
Mallet: I'm sure they will be, yeah.
Daisy: I'm mad at you.
Mallet: Daisy, I'm not very happy about the whole thing myself. You know, I think maybe one day it's all going to make sense to everyone.
Daisy: I'm going to miss you.
Mallet: I'm going to miss you, too.
Blake: Where do you want to go to lunch, huh?
Olivia: Holly? Oh, my gosh.
Holly: Hello, Olivia.
Olivia: What are you doing here?
Holly: Well, I came here because my little girl called me.
Blake: I needed my mom.
Holly: You have seldom, if ever, needed your mom.
Blake: See I'm a writing this book about love and passion, actually lost love. And I got all gooey and weepy and sentimental, and I needed my mother. I called her.
Olivia: You called your mom to talk about lost loves?
Holly: Well, you know, we are on the same wavelength because I went to see Ed today.
Blake: You did?
Olivia: Ed... Ed Bauer.
Blake: Oh yeah, she was married to Ed. One of her many loves.
Holly: Yes, way back.
Blake: Of course, then again, Daddy, that was... you were madly in love with Daddy, and I spent my entire life watching that turmoil, didn't I? It's okay, Olivia can know all about this because she's in the middle of a love life turmoil herself.
Olivia: That... that's true.
Holly: Why don't you join us for lunch? Tell me all about it.
Blake: Yeah.
Olivia: We could do it here, order room service. My treat.
Blake: You're on.
Holly: Great.
Blake: Let me get my key.
Shayne: Hey. Mallet just told me. Are you all right?
Marina: I have to be.
Shayne: Listen to me. Marina, I want you to know that I'm going to be there. I am going to be there for Henry. I am.
Marina: I know. I've always known that.
Shayne: Mallet was right. I do want to be part of his life.
Marina: You will be. You're his dad.
Shayne: Hey, buddy. Hey. How you doing?
Holly: Well, one thing I have learned, as time goes on, is sometimes you just have to let it go. I mean, relationships are good. They're bad. But when they're gone, you got to be ready to move on. It's like you let yourself become whoever it is you're going to be next. Then, of course, don't listen to me. I know I know nothing about relationships.
Blake: Thanks, Mom.
Holly: What?
Blake: I got to go somewhere. Why don't you just carry on. I'll come back before the food's cold.
Holly: She always was a strange child.
Olivia: (Laughs)
Holly: Your turn. So tell me about this tumultuous love affair. Do I know him?
Olivia: Her.
Holly: Her? Oh. Well, so what's tumultuous about it?
Olivia: I thought I met the love of my life. And then she left me, which seems to happen quite a bit. But then she came back. But she's pregnant with some man's baby.
Holly: Are you still in love with her?
Olivia: I have never loved anyone like this.
Holly: Oh my. It's amazing when that happens.
Olivia: Hmmmm.
Holly: Of course, it doesn't make it any easier knowing what to do.
Mallet: No, no, no, Tyson. It's not too soon. I'll take it. Absolutely. Thanks, thanks for thinking of me. Okay. Yeah. We'll touch base later, thanks. Hi.
Marina: Hey. We didn't think we'd see you today.
Mallet: Yeah, I didn’t... yeah, I called the agency to let them know if anything became available in the future, to think of me. And they called a little while ago. They have something overseas in Germany. And if I want it, then I can have it. But I'd have to leave tonight.
Marina: Oh, my God.
Mallet: Yeah, it's a lot. But it's probably better for all of us that I'm not hanging around.
Marina: What about your stuff?
Mallet: Yeah, I saw that, thank you. I saw. I got those boxes, thank you.
Marina: Okay. And I'll call a lawyer and get them to handle all the legal documents.
Shayne: If you'll excuse me, I'm going to let you two finish this in private.
Mallet: No, Shayne, it's okay. Really, it's all right. Because I have to go, and I have a flight in an hour. Do you... do you mind if I say good-bye to Henry?
Marina: He's squirming.
Mallet: Come here, wild boy. Come here. Listen, buddy. I got to go away. We're not going to be able to hang out together anymore, so we got to have a little father... we got to have a little talk. I want you to know that I love you. I've loved you since the minute they put you in my arms in Bosnia. You brought so many good, good changes to this town, Henry. Everybody loves you, and everybody needs you. Especially your mama. She loves you so much. She loves you with all of her heart. Do you know that? She is your mom. And I know that you have been calling me Da Da, which has been really wonderful. But you know what, Henry? I've just been kind of filling in, you know? Shayne's your dad. And he's going to be hanging around now to take care of you. But if you ever need anything big or small, you let your friend Mallet know, okay? And I'll come through for you. I will miss you. I'll never forget you, Henry. You are where you're supposed to be, okay? Bye, angel. I sure do love you. Take care of our boy. Okay.
Blake: Hi. Hi, Ross. I can't stay long because I'm having lunch with my mother and Olivia. So I'm writing a book about Jenna. It's wonderful, Ross. It's this huge, epic love story, and it's big and fantastic. I've been thinking a lot about love lately. Probably why I called my mother. I've been thinking about the kind of love my mom and dad had, you know? The crazy kind of love. You and I had that. And then it turned into comfortable love. We had the best of both worlds, Ross. We had both. That's so rare. Oh, my gosh. We were so lucky. I don't think I'm ever going to get that lucky again, Ross. I don't think it's going to happen. But I am looking forward to whatever comes next. But I want you to know, I think about you every day. All right. Bye, my love. Oh.
Ed: I was just wandering around. I saw you sitting up here, and I just wanted to... you know, check and make sure everything was okay.
Blake: I just come here to talk and cry.
Ed: Well, he was always a good listener.
Blake: Yeah, he still is.
Ed: And as long as he's not saying anything back, I guess you're doing all right, okay?
Blake: But he is.
Ed: What's he say?
Blake: Ed Bauer was my best friend.
Ed: No, he was the one who knew how to be a friend. Did he tell you anything today?
Blake: Well, we talked about love. And about how lucky we were to have had it.
Ed: I guess anyone who has had it is lucky.
Mallet: Frank, I applied for a job at the agency. And I got one. So I have to leave tonight. Actually, I have to leave right now. I've already said good-bye to Marina, and I've already said good-bye to Henry. I just came to turn in my badge.
Singer: You know no matter what you say you will be mine one day it's inevitable you know no matter what you do someday just me and you it's inevitable inevitable
Coming up on "Guiding Light."
Jonathan: Is this one yours? Because I don't want to eat your sandwich.
Reva: What are you doing?
Jonathan: Well, you were talking to him. I thought maybe I should say hello.
Marina: Hey, what's up?
Shayne: Thinking about some things. Namely, Henry.
Cyrus: This is it.
Remy: We'll have to work quick.
Cyrus: Well, I don't think anyone lives here.
Buzz: Looking for something?
