Josh: What happens next?

Olivia: Could you just lie next to me, sleep with me, and hold my hand?

James: We have to stay up and stoke the fire.

Daisy: Okay, so what? Do we just, like, take turns?

James: We... we got to stay up together.

Marina: I think that she's allowed a few screw-ups before we get mad at her.

Shayne: Why is she allowed a few screw-ups?

Marina: She gave you your life back.

James: You awake?

Daisy: Uh-huh.

James: You want to get up?

Daisy: No.

James: Listen to the birds.

Daisy: Wow, there are a lot of them.

James: It's so peaceful.

Daisy: Yeah. The fire went out.

James: Want me to make a new one?

Daisy: No, I want to stay right here.

James: So what did you tell your family you were doing?

Daisy: I told my Uncle Frank that I was going to the beach with some friends.

James: Friends?

Daisy: Yeah.

James: Nice one.

Daisy: He suggested we tell ghost stories.

James: Ghost stories? I know a couple.

Daisy: That's okay.

James: You expected home soon?

Daisy: Yeah, pretty soon.

James: Do you have to leave?

Daisy: In a little while.

James: I bet you're hungry. Let's get some breakfast.

Daisy: What?

James: Wait for it. Ta-da!

Daisy: Oh, wow.

James: I know it's not much, but next time we'll bring a pan, some eggs.

Daisy: You'll scramble me some eggs?

James: Yeah, I'll scramble you some eggs.

Daisy: No, actually, I want an omelet.

James: An omelet?

Daisy: Yeah.

James: I could do that.

Vanessa: Bruce, could you find out who's running the commercial department now? I don't know, so if there is anybody down there, could you just let me know, send them on up.

Billy: Hey there.

Vanessa: Hi.

Billy: You swamped?

Vanessa: Yeah, I am, a little. Dinah left in such a hurry and a flurry, she didn't exactly have time to, you know, make a list of upcoming events or day-to-day protocol. It's been awhile since I ran the station. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Billy: Well, you'll do it.

Vanessa: I don't know, really. She changed the day-to-day protocol. And you know, there's equipment I don't understand. I don't understand who's running the departments. There's only two tape decks. I mean, we're going to be shutting this studio down pretty soon.

Billy: Well, I bet you Dinah brought this into the 21st century, didn't she?

Vanessa: Uh-huh.

Billy: Yeah.

Vanessa: She did. She made wonderful changes. She really did. And you know, in her own life, too. She became a fine business leader. She became a good friend.

Billy: How about a good daughter?

Vanessa: Yes.

Billy: You miss her like crazy, I can tell.

Vanessa: Well, you know, it took us a long time, but we finally got there so that I was really her mom. She was really my daughter.

Billy: You're going to be okay.

Vanessa: Oh, you're not okay if your kids aren't okay.

Billy: Hey, hey, Dinah’s tough. Dinah's real tough. She's going to land on her feet.

Vanessa: Billy, I hate that she's alone.

Billy: Yeah, I know.

Bill: Hey.

Shayne: What are you doing?

Bill: Just putting together the kitchen door frame.

Shayne: Do you know what you're doing?

Bill: Yeah, I know what I'm doing. How are you doing?

Shayne: Listen, Bill, I don't know what else to do besides just ask this. Do you know where Dinah is?

Bill: Shayne, I didn't even know she was leaving until I heard it on the news yesterday afternoon. I had no idea.

Shayne: She left kind of quick.

Bill: She came by the office after the wedding. I thought that was a little odd. But you know, it's Dinah. But I don't know, maybe she was coming by to say good-bye.

Shayne: She didn't say good-bye to me. She told me what she did, and I got angry. It's everything. It's involved with my mom, Jeffrey. She left, and I guess she came back sometime when I was gone. She... she left her wedding ring. And I really don't know what to do with it.

Bill: Sorry, man, I feel really bad for you guys. She is my sister. I'm glad she's not going back to jail.

Shayne: I wouldn't have let her go to jail, Bill.

Bill: I know, I know. Look, Shayne, I wish there was something that I could do or say, but I can’t. I thought you guys were very, very happy. And I still think that you're meant to be together.

(Cell phone vibrates)

Olivia: Is that you?

Josh: Yeah, I'm sorry, hold on. Hello.

Reva: Josh, I'm so sorry to bother you. It’s... it’s... I went to make coffee in the faucet in the kitchen, and that stupid sprayer thing got stuck again. And I tried to reach Matt, but I couldn't reach him. And...

Josh: Reva, just.... Reva, I... look, it's okay, you know, you can call me. Just... just... put a bucket underneath the sink where the water's leaking out and put some towels down. I got to get some clothes on. I'll be there as quick as I can.

Reva: I'm so sorry I woke you up. I should have called the plumber. But at this time of morning I wasn't sure that I could even...

Josh: Reva, it's okay. Don't worry about it, all right? I'll... I'm on my way. I'm sorry.

Olivia: It's okay.

Josh: I have to go.

Olivia: I know. Thank you. Thank you.

Josh: Yeah. Any time.

Josh: Okay.

Reva: Oh, bravo.

Josh: It's a beautiful thing, isn't it?

Reva: Yeah, well, you've always been very task-oriented.

Josh: Yeah, well I, you know, I like seeing things that need to be fixed and then fixing them. And then they work.

Reva: Well, thank you.

Josh: You're welcome.

Reva: We're very grateful.

Josh: No problem. Anything else I can do for you? You want the lawn mowed or the light bulbs changed?

Reva: No, I don't need anything.

Josh: I know those are things that you can do on your own. I'm just, you know, offering.

Reva: I... I don't need to you do any other work around here.

Josh: Okay, all right. Do you want me to stick around and keep you company? I can watch Colin for a bit.

Reva: No, you don't have to stay. But thank you. We're... we're... we're very grateful that you came when I called.

Josh: Sure, no problem. I guess I'll go check on Shayne and see if I can fix that problem.

Reva: Oh, good. Yeah, okay. Thank you so much, really.

Josh: Yeah, bye.

Reva: Bye. I wish I could have found your instruction sheet because it was really perfect. I don't want to have to depend on anyone for anything. And I know that everybody cares about me. I know they do. But nobody understands me the way you did. But you're not here. And I need someone. It can't be Josh, though, it just... Colin and I are going to go out.

Bill: So if Dinah contacts me-- I doubt she will-- is there anything you want me to tell her?

Shayne: I don't even know what I'd say. Something in between "I miss you like mad" and "stay the hell out of my life."

Bill: Been there.

Billy: Hey, guys.

Bill: Hey.

Shayne: Hey, Uncle Billy.

Billy: How are you doing, Shayne?

Shayne: I've been better.

Billy: Yeah.

Shayne: Listen, I'm going to let you guys talk, all right? I'll see you later.

Bill: I'll call you.

Shayne: All right.

Billy: Is he okay?

Bill: Nope.

Billy: No, yeah, well neither is your mom.

Bill: I guess Dinah did it again. Just when we all started to trust her, she let everyone down.

Billy: Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. She protected everybody, too. I mean, if it was somebody else we wouldn't be judging them as harshly as we're judging her. Besides, I would have nailed that guy with a stroller. I would have picked up a rock or anything.

Bill: Me, too.

Billy: Yeah.

Olivia: Hi. Have you heard from your mom? You know, we can't keep doing this. We live in a kind of a little town here. We're going to have to deal with each other?

Rafe: Why?

Olivia: Because trying to avoid each other is kind of stupid, don't you think? We don't have to like each other, but, you know, I would like to be able to walk into a store or restaurant or gas station and not feel like I have to turn around and walk out.

Rafe: Olivia, I don't mind you feeling that way.

Olivia: You're hurting, okay? I am hurting, too. Why...

Rafe: That's the only good thing about this whole thing.

Olivia: It doesn't bother you that I'm in pain?

Rafe: I'm not the one hurting.

James: So am I dropping you off at work today?

Daisy: Yeah, yeah, I'm on the schedule this afternoon. What are you doing today?

James: Well, my granddad is out of town, so I don't have to go to some stupid finance meeting.

Daisy: Nice. How about your dad? Where is he?

James: I don't know, and I don't care.

Daisy: All right. So what are you going to do tonight?

James: I never thought about it.

Daisy: Oh, yeah, well, I should see Ashlee. Well, maybe we could get, like, a group together, go see a movie.

James: Swim in my pool.

Daisy: Your pool, yeah.

James: Yeah.

Daisy: Yeah, okay, so I'll call everybody?

James: Yeah. Well, I guess this is it.

Daisy: Yeah. I'm glad we came camping.

James: Yeah, me, too. So guess what.

Daisy: Is this okay if we all come over to your place later?

James: Yeah. Yeah, whatever.

Daisy: I'll text you. I had a good time.

James: Yeah, me, too. Want to go again sometime?

Daisy: Yeah, okay.

James: Okay.

Daisy: Okay.

(Knock on the door)

Marina: Hey, what's up?

Rafe: Nothing. I'm just early for my parole meeting.

Marina: Oh. If you got a minute, sit down.

Rafe: Yes, ma'am. Thank you.

Marina: Uh-huh.

Rafe: What about you? What's going on?

Marina: Oh, I was just dropping lunch for my dad and Mallet.

Rafe: Oh, wow, that's really nice of you.

Marina: Yeah, well, you know families, they take care of each other.

Rafe: Right.

Marina: Speaking of my family, I hope my dad's being cool with this whole mentor thing. He can get...

Rafe: Oh, yeah. He's fine. He's completely cool. I promise.

Marina: You sure?

Rafe: Yes, definitely.

Marina: All right. Have you heard from your mom?

Rafe: No, I haven’t.

Marina: I'm sorry.

Rafe: It's fine. I mean... I mean, I didn't think I would miss her, you know. I'm supposed to be this big man and everything. But I kind of just want my mommy.

Marina: Hey, you don't have to be a kid to want your mom around.

Rafe: No, but when she left she just went. She didn't say good-bye.

Marina: I don't know, Rafe. You know, I think sometimes parents make choices and they don't really realize how it's going to affect their kids, you know? Sometimes... sometimes those choices that they make just suck for us. I know with my mom, when she decided to move of to California, I mean, I just felt like that was so selfish.

Rafe: See my mom and I were supposed to be so close, you know? And I mean, I loved her more than anybody, like, anybody, period.

Marina: Well, that's how I feel about my dad. You know, so we're lucky to have that.

Rafe: Not any more. Not for me.

Marina: Rafe, you need to understand something. Your mother, she loves you more than anything in the whole world. And you can never doubt that. You can never doubt that. Look at some of our friends, right? Okay, look at Ashlee. Her relationship with Doris? It's like the girl can't do anything to please her mom, and she tries so hard. You know, Ashlee loves Doris more than anything, right?

Rafe: That's true, yeah.

Marina: So all I'm saying is take a look around, man, because I don't know, as far as the parental department goes, I don't think we're doing that bad.

Daisy: Hi, Grandpa.

Billy: Hi. You going to do a little backpacking?

Daisy: No. Some friends and I, we went to the beach last night, and we had so much fun. We roasted marshmallows, we told scary stories. It just got so late, we thought stay here and watch the sunrise.

Billy: Oh, yeah, nothing like seeing the sun come up.

Daisy: Nope.

Billy: So how did you get home?

Daisy: I drove.

Billy: Oh. Well, didn't I just see you get out of James’s car in the parking lot?

Daisy: Oh, yeah. See, I drove home and he followed me there and then he brought me here.

Billy: But you left your sleeping bag in his car?

Daisy: Uh-huh.

Billy: Daisy, that's the worst lie I've ever heard.

Daisy: Yeah, it is, isn't it? Yeah, okay, James and I, we went camping. It's not that big a deal.

Billy: Camping?

Daisy: Uh-huh.

Billy: Were you careful?

Daisy: Grandpa.

Billy: No, I'm serious. Daisy, I know you're a big girl. You're going to do whatever you want to do. But you're still young enough to make bad choices. Now, my job is to protect you. So.

Daisy: We were careful.

Billy: Good. See that it stays that way.

Josh: Hi there.

Vanessa: Hi.

Josh: How are you?

Vanessa: I'm fine.

Josh: Good, I need a couple of things from you. First, if you know where Dinah is, and I'm assuming you do, if you could ask her if she would be willing to sign some annulment papers that might move the process along quicker.

Vanessa: I don't know where she is.

Josh: Okay, well, the second thing is, wherever she is, ask her to stay there and just stay away from my son. Thanks.

Vanessa: Look, excuse me. I just told you I don't know where she is. And she and Shayne are both grown-up, so why don't we let them make their own decisions about this.

Josh: Dinah's a mess, Vanessa. She always has been. You and I both know that she lied to my son.

Vanessa: She's trying to protect your family.

Josh: By letting Reva go to jail for something that she did.

Vanessa: She came clean.

Josh: Yeah, after she had Shayne all sown up, she came clean.

Vanessa: What did you say?

Josh: She manipulated Shayne. The same way she manipulates everyone else. You know that. She's dangerous, okay? I'm just saying I'm glad she's gone.

Shayne: Dad! Dinah's still my wife. If she came home today, I would take her back.

Josh: Son, I know you still love Dinah. I was just trying to make sure you don't get hurt again.

Shayne: Dad, I can take care of myself.

Josh: I know you can.

Shayne: Okay.

Josh: I just... I'm trying to...

Shayne: I think you should go. Please go. I'll call you later. I need to talk to Vanessa myself.

Josh: Okay.

Shayne: I apologize. He’s...

Vanessa: He's your dad. I'm Dinah’s mom.

Shayne: Where is she?

Vanessa: I don't know.

Shayne: Would you tell me if you did?

Vanessa: No, not if she'd asked me not to.

Shayne: Vanessa, I thought she loved me.

Vanessa: I know she loves you.

Shayne: Then why didn't she tell me before?

Vanessa: The way I see things is that Dinah had waited a really long time in her life to be the kind of person that she wanted to be. To do the kind of thing that she felt was right and good. And that it must have been really a terrible, terrible thing for her to make this last big mistake.

Shayne: No, I do not think it is a mistake. Killing that man. That was not a mistake. But if she would have told me, Vanessa, I could have. I could have...

Vanessa: You could have what? You could have kept her out of jail? You couldn’t. No one could have. And that's why I believe that she decided to carry this on her own, and she was just hoping, against hope, that it was all going to work out.

Shayne: I don't know what to do now.

Vanessa: I understand, but you'll figure it out.

Doris: What flavor?

Olivia: Vanilla.

Doris: And why are you eating it looking so depressed?

Olivia: Because I'm not lovable.

Doris: Is Olivia having a sad day?

Olivia: I'm having a very sad day because it's true.

Doris: What are you talking about?

Olivia: I'm not lovable. If I were, then I would have friends and I would have a relationship. But the fact that I don't just proves that I'm not.

Doris: You know what? You and I are going to have a very serious talk.

Bill: Reva, hey.

Reva: Hey, Bill.

Bill: How are you?

Reva: Hi, honey. I'm good.

Bill: I've been worried about you. I've been meaning to tell you that I'm sorry that I couldn't make it to Jeffrey’s funeral.

Reva: Well, you were on your honeymoon.

Bill: I just can't believe everything that's going on. I mean, his plane going down, he's gone. Then Shayne and Dinah finally get together. Then she's found guilty. I just... I'm sorry you had to go through all that.

Reva: Yeah, well, me, too.

Bill: Well, look, I know there's nothing I could say that could change anything, but I want you to know that Dinah did not mean to hurt you or Shayne.

Reva: I can't really talk about that right now.

Bill: I understand. I understand. And I'm sorry. I want you to know that I'm thinking about you. And if you need to talk or you need anything, I want you to just let me know, okay?

Reva: No, no.

Bill: Okay, all right. But if something comes up, I'm here. Lizzie's around.

Reva: It's okay.

Bill: Okay.

Reva: Okay. Oh, Colin. Hi, baby. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. You okay, right? You're okay. You are okay. We're all going to be okay. We're all going to be okay. Yeah, we're going to be okay. We're okay. You're okay, right? You're okay? Yeah. You're okay. You're okay.

Daisy: Okay, so Remy’s still on duty, so he's going to meet us later. I vote pool.

Rafe: I'm down for whatever, that's fine. Yeah.

Daisy: All right, okay? So I'll call James, let him know we're coming.

Rafe: Yeah, sure.

Marina: Are we doing something fun tonight that you want to invite your totally hip cousin to.

Daisy: We're swimming at the Spaulding’s.

Marina: Wow, I'll pass.

Daisy: I know, yeah.

Rafe: Can I have a water please?

Daisy: Yeah, we are out here. Go into the kitchen. There should be some.

Rafe: Fine.

Marina: So, isn't this going to be totally weird for you. I mean, James and Rafe hanging out together?

Daisy: Rafe is my friend.

Marina: I know, but you're totally dating James.

Daisy: Shhh! Could you say that louder? I want everybody to hear.

Marina: Sorry.

Rafe: Daisy, I'm going to meet you up a little bit later because I got some stuff I have so take care of.

Daisy: Yeah, sure. I get off in like an hour, so probably be, like, an hour and a half because I have to pick up Ashlee.

Rafe: Bye.

Marina: Bye. I love these romantic triangles.

Daisy: Stop it. Shut up.

Doris: Okay, so go down that list again. You have no relationship, friends..

Olivia: I have no friends. No relationship, that’s...

Doris: Right, relationship.

Olivia: That's the biggie.

Doris: All right. Relationships, uh-huh.

Olivia: Uh-huh. Well, I don’t. I mean, like Frank said to me that... that the reason Natalia left was probably, you know, because I'm me.

Doris: Yeah, she left him at the altar. Yeah.

Olivia: And then Phillip basically said that I'm not an easy person to love.

Doris: Ouch.

Olivia: Yeah. And then Buzz is like, well, everyone universally adores you.

Doris: Wait a minute that sounds like a good one, that last one.

Olivia: I don't want to be universally adored. I want to be... I want to be loved for me, just for who I am, flaws and all.

Doris: But you have that.

Olivia: No, I don’t. That's what I am trying to do that.

Doris: But you do.

Olivia: No, I don’t.

Doris: And I'm trying to tell you that you do. You have Ava and Emma. And I have Ashlee. Look, we have our daughters. And these girls have seen us at our worst and our best. I mean, let's face it, we are not the most lovable women on the planet. And... they still love us.

Olivia: I do have Ava and Emma.

Doris: Do you really need anything else?

James: Hey, what's up.

Rafe: Nothing, I was walking by and I seen you in here so I thought I'd said hi. I just want to let you know that I know about you and Daisy.

James: What?

Rafe: She didn't tell me, man. I figured it out myself. I'm not stupid, you know?

James: Listen, man, I didn’t...

Rafe: Look, it's cool. James, it's fine. Honestly, it's cool. I just... I mean, she and I are just friends, right? So it's not even my place to say anything. But I care about her. I care about her a lot. And it's not going to change. So I just want to make sure that she doesn't get hurt, you know?

James: Got it.

Rafe: All right. So we're all supposed to meet you up later, right? At your house?

James: Yeah. The more the merrier.

Rafe: All right, I'll see you later. All right.

James: See you, dude.

Shayne: Vanessa, why did she wait to tell me after we were married?

Vanessa: Well, I don't know, but all I can figure is that she... something happened. And she had to come clean. I... I really don't think that she was trying to trap you or anything.

Shayne: No, I don't think that either. I don’t. It’s... I just wanted this to be forever.

Vanessa: I know. We all did.

Shayne: When she left she put these on the bed, laid them out like they were unimportant.

Vanessa: No, no, no, no, no, no. It's not what you think. The way it goes is that the rings belong to the man. Listen to me. She wore them when she thought the two of you would be together. When she knew that you wouldn't be, she gave them back because rightfully they belong to you.

Shayne: I bought them for her. I picked them out for her. So whenever you see her, please give them to her from me, okay? Because I want her to have them. I do.

Vanessa: I will.

Shayne: Thank you.

Billy: You all need a hand?

Josh: Hey. No, actually, we're doing fine. And if you don't mind, I kind of need to work right now.

Billy: Well, wait, wait, wait, just one second. I need your attention for one minute here.

Josh: What?

Billy: Well, I'm going to do something. I was kind of going to put it off because everything that was going on, but I changed my mind.

Bill: Uh-oh.

Billy: I am going to marry your mom again. Now look, I know, but when Vanessa moved back to town, I swear, I knew I had made a mistake ever letting her go. And she and Matt broke up, I didn't think she was interested. But now, I think she just might be interested. So, yeah, I know it's a bad time. All the weddings and funerals and everything going on with Dinah and Shayne might make you wonder if I shouldn't wait.

Josh: No, don't wait. You should have done this a long time ago.

Billy: You read my mind exactly.

Bill: I'm not trying to rain on your parade here, but you... you sure Mom is going to want to marry you?

Billy: Yeah, I'm pretty sure.

Josh: Because you're such a catch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what? This might be the thing this family needs to bring us all back together.

Bill: Congratulations.

Josh: Congratulations.

Doris: Ashlee, sweetheart, it's Mom. I was wondering if we could meet for dinner or dessert before you go out with your friends? No occasion, I just... miss my daughter. (Cell phone beeps)

Daisy: "So when are you coming to my house?" Side work, then I'm out of here. (Cell phone beeps)

Daisy: "Are you going to wear that tank top?" I was planning on changing and bringing a swimsuit. (Cell phone beeps)

Daisy: "Bikini?"

Billy: Still here?

Vanessa: Yeah. Long day's ahead.

Billy: So you think you'll be working all the time, huh?

Vanessa: Yep.

Billy: Well, now, I think maybe you need distraction.

Vanessa: What kind of distraction?

Billy: Well, I was thinking of marrying you. Actually, I am going to marry you.

Vanessa: Oh. Well, were you thinking of asking me?

Billy: Oh, well, I hadn't worked that part out yet.

Vanessa: Well, do you think I'm going to know when you ask me?

Billy: Yes, you'll know. Yeah, okay, yeah. (Laughter) Okay, you should go back to work. Yeah.

Bill: Building a boat.

Shayne: Need some help?

Bill: Might be a little easier with two people.

Shayne: Let's do it.

Bill: Whoa, whoa, wait a minute now. You sure you ready to take part in this? Because...

Shayne: No, I'm not sure. I can't wait for my life just to kick back in. Besides, that framing job you did today?

Bill: Yeah.

Shayne: Yeah.

Bill: Whoa, whoa, wait a minute now. You think you can do better?

Shayne: With my eyes shut.

Bill: Oh.

Shayne: Let's do this.

Bill: Let's do it.

Shayne: Can't you get all three? It's going to be a long day.

Olivia: Not there.

Josh: Oh, hi.

Olivia: Hi.

Josh: I was just checking on you, you know. It seems like you had kind of a tough night last night.

Olivia: Well, I don't know. I think maybe you had the tough night. You know, I got you all... and then I didn’t.

Josh: Oh, you did.

Olivia: Well, I thought...

Josh: You think you did.

Olivia: Yeah.

Josh: I'll survive.

Olivia: You're a good friend.

Josh: Good friend.

Olivia: That's a good thing, no, because... really. I don't think I really appreciated it until just a little bit ago.

Josh: Well, I'm glad I could help.

Olivia: Can I call you if I need a friend?

Josh: Of course, you can. Any time.

Josh: I'll see you.

Olivia: Okay. Hi, Ava, it's me. Oh, it was so good to see you, too. Is Emma around? Can you put her on? Hey, jelly bean. You having fun? Good. I was just kind of hoping that maybe you were ready to come home.

Reva: There you go. You'll be fine, right there. We're all going to be fine now that we're all together. I feel safe here now. Now I feel like you're here with me. So what do you want to do, boys? Want to watch some TV?

Next on "Guiding Light"...

Buzz: I was wondering when you'd get here.

Jenna: You know I would never pass up a good road trip.

Buzz: Is this going to be a good one?

Jenna: It's about me, isn't it?

Marina: What are you doing?

Mallet: I took two weeks off. We are going on a well deserved family vacation.

Ed: I couldn't give Phillip a cure, so he's taken off to Mexico. We need to get him back.

Alan: You've come to the wrong place, Ed.
