Reva: I am really, really trying, but I miss you.
Jeffrey: I've almost got him.
Doris: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Mallet: Dinah, it's me. We got a problem.
Frank overheard us in the
parking lot, and he knows that
you're the killer.
Dinah: Paris, Rome, Tahiti.
Shayne: Tahiti? What are... what are you talking about Tahiti?
Dinah: Yes, yes, yes. It was our wedding today. I think we're wasting too much time in this room.
Shayne: This doesn't feel like a waste to me.
Dinah: No, I know, it was just.... it was our wedding today. I think we should go somewhere tonight. Let's go on a honeymoon.
Shayne: Go where, right now?
Dinah: Yeah. Yeah, why not? Our wedding was spontaneous. We should just grab a few things, hop a plane and go.
Shayne: Go where?
Dinah: I don't know. You're the one who wants a life full of adventure. We could go to Europe, South America.
Shayne: You mean right now? Right now?
Dinah: Yeah, you doing anything else in particular the next few days?
Shayne: Yeah, I was doing something else. I can think of one or two things to do right now. Come here.
Dinah: Please? Please? I don't care where we go. I just think that we should get out of here.
Frank: Oh, Mallet, good. These are Dinah’s forms, okay. When she comes in, the desk sergeant has to sign these. She's got two of them she needs to fill out here. There you go. This is where she's supposed to write down her confession and you can fill out the top portion.
Mallet: Right. You know, Frank, the way I see this whole thing is, you know, Dinah probably killed this guy out of self-defense.
Frank: Okay, there's no reason to doubt that. Listen, we're both on her side, Mallet. She's got priors she's going to have to deal with, but nobody in this department is going to press for big charges.
Mallet: Well, yeah, but that's left up to the courts.
Frank: Okay, you're right. But we have to follow protocol. We'll do everything we can to help her. Mallet, this case has been going on way too long. It's been hanging over both our heads for a very long time.
Mallet: Yeah.
Frank: All right so, I'm going to send a squad car to go pick her up.
Josh: You okay?
Reva: Yes.
Josh: Just asking. It's only been a couple days since Jeffrey’s funeral.
Reva: No, it's a good day. Today was a good day for me. It is a good day. I mean, they... the...
Shayne: Is that what you want? You want to hop a plane with me right now and fly off to parts unknown?
Dinah: Yeah.
Shayne: Yeah?
Dinah: It will make you happy. I think it would make us happy.
Shayne: Yeah. Yeah, okay, let's do it. Let's do it. Let's grab a bag and do it.
Dinah: You would really do that. Just like that?
Shayne: Of course, I would. If my wife wants to go on a spontaneous honeymoon, then my wife's going to get a spontaneous honeymoon.
Dinah: I can't believe you would do this for me.
Shayne: What do you mean you can't believe it? Baby, I would go anywhere in the world with you if you asked me.
Dinah: You're amazing.
Shayne: Oh, hold that thought. Hold it right up here for, like, a lifetime. Just let me make some calls, all right?
Dinah: Wait.
Shayne: No, no, no. Baby, I want to go, I do.
Dinah: I said wait. You don't understand. I don't want to go away on an exotic honeymoon. I want to go away because I have to. The cops are probably coming after me right about now.
Shayne: Well, then we better plan to go somewhere with a nonextradition policy because if that... what did you do?
Dinah: I killed that John Doe. And I'm so sorry. I never wanted to hurt you like this. ( Knock on the door ) Who is it?
Waiter: Room service.
Shayne: Come in.
Waiter: Special gift from the house for newlyweds.
Shayne: Wait, wait, you're telling... what are you telling me, exactly?
Dinah: Edmund, who I thought was Edmund, was coming after Henry. So I picked up the stroller and swung it as hard as I could.
Shayne: My mother went to jail for this. She got arrested, Dinah. She was facing a murder trial.
Dinah: I would not have let her go to prison. I know that about myself, never!
Shayne: But you would let Jeffrey set himself up to take the wrap for it to get my mother out of jail, for which he's dead for? My mom is a widow because of my wife? No, no. How could you keep this from me?
Dinah: Because I was scared. I sat on it. I thought it was going to blow over, and then everything got out of control.
Shayne: Yes, everything did. Jeffrey's dead. Colin's not going to have a father because of this. And you sat on it? You sat on it and just watched all this happen and did nothing? Dinah I... I put a ring on your finger today. You stood there next to me and allowed yourself to be accepted into my family, stood right next to my mother, accepted by her, and all along you knew what you had done? You knew what you had taken from her? What kind of person are you?
Reva: Would you mind maybe giving me a lift home because I just... I... I need a ride.
Josh: Sure.
Frank: Dinah Marler is a definite flight risk, so send a squad car and get her immediately.
Mallet: Oh, Frank, can I talk to you for a second?
Frank: Sure. Hold on one second.
Mallet: Sorry.
Frank: What's up?
Mallet: I'm thinking no squad car, Frank.
Frank: Why is that?
Mallet: Because it's Dinah. I mean, I have to check out her story. I have to recheck it, because what if she is covering for somebody. She could be covering for Reva, Shayne, who knows. And too much hoopla in this case. Let's just avoid it. No more of that craziness.
Frank: Okay.
Mallet: Yeah. So I'm just saying, let's figure out the facts first. Let's just get them straight and then we'll act.
Frank: All right, well this case has definitely taken its toll on a lot of families, especially yours.
Mallet: Yeah, so I think that's the way to handle it, don't you?
Frank: All right, you let me know when you get those facts.
Mallet: Okay, I will.
Marina: What's up?
Mallet: Hey, I was just... work issues.
Marina: My dad coming down on you?
Mallet: No, no.
Marina: He knows we've been fighting and, you know, he's a dad.
Mallet: Well, that he is, but no, I've got no problem with Frank. We're good. But you and I need to talk.
Dinah: It killed me when Jeffrey’s plane went down. I wished every day that it was me.
Shayne: But you kept the lie going. My God, Dinah, you went to Jeffrey’s funeral. You watched my mother have a meltdown.
Dinah: I ruin everything. I ruin everything that I touch.
Shayne: I can’t... I cannot understand how you could look me in the face-- knowing everything that I was going through with my mother-- and keep this information. I can't understand that.
Dinah: I know, and I've hated myself for that.
Shayne: Why didn't you say something, baby? Why didn't you say something? Because I gave you a million opportunities from the beginning to tell me the truth. I even told you that if it was you, if you were the one responsible, that I would protect you.
Dinah: Because I had been to prison. I couldn't go back.
Shayne: Do you think I would ever let you go to prison? Do you really think that? I would do everything in my power to keep you safe, Dinah.
Dinah: I know that. And I know you mean what you say. But you don't understand. Judges and jurors, they're not kind to former felons. No one can love me that much.
Shayne: I loved you that much. I still do. But I don't know if I can live with this.
Dinah: I know. I don't think you can. And I don't know if I can either, knowing how much I hurt you. And what I cost Reva. And really, I don't know why I would expect anything different. I ruin everything that I touch. When the whole town thought I was a monster, you were my friend. And you loved me, even when I didn't deserve it. You loved me. And I will never forget that. I am so happy that Henry is in your life forever. You are going to be a wonderful father. An I know that Lara is proud of you. She is.
Shayne: Wait, wait, where are you going? We were talking about...
Dinah: I'm going to go face what I've done. I'm going to speak up, and I'm going to admit what I have done. And I will deal with the consequences, whatever they are, because I deserve them.
Shayne: Dinah you need to...
Dinah: Shayne, stop. Shayne, I love you, so much. Thank you for everything you have given me.
Mallet: I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry for the way I acted during this investigation. Most of all I'm so sorry for the way I treated you. I want you to know that I believe in you.
Marina: Thank you.
Mallet: I never should have suspected you to begin with.
Marina: Well, what made you change your mind?
Mallet: I just realized that I've been a big fool.
Marina: And?
Mallet: And I promise to make it up to you.
Marina: I guess I'll see you at home.
Mallet: Yes, you will.
Remy: Thank you. Hey, buddy! Isn't it your wedding night?
Shayne: Yup.
Remy: You and Dinah have a fight?
Shayne: Something like that.
Remy: Okay. Don't make it too hard, man. It's marriage. You know, you got to work it out. It's not supposed to be easy.
Dinah: The aviator look is good on you.
Mallet: Dinah?
Dinah: I'm over here, Detective.
Mallet: Are you crazy? What are you doing here?
Dinah: Well, I'm here to turn myself in.
Mallet: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I was just on my way to find you.
Dinah: I'm here now.
Mallet: Uh-huh.
Dinah: I'd like you to cuff me.
Mallet: You want to go to jail?
Dinah: Yup.
Mallet: Oh, really, why do you want to go to jail?
Dinah: Because I ruin everything. And I need to be somewhere where I can't hurt people anymore.
Mallet: Uh-huh. We can fix this.
Reva: Okay. It started.
Josh: I think I should go.
Reva: Oh, really?
Josh: Yes, I'm guessing you're tired.
Reva: Well, that's what the coffee's for.
Josh: Um...
Reva: Please don't, go. Don't go. If you leave, I'm going to start talking to his picture.
Josh: I'll stay a bit then.
Reva: Okay. That's good. Because I really don't think I'm doing as well as I'd hoped.
Josh: It's okay.
Reva: I'm sorry.
Dinah: Mallet, you cannot fix this.
Mallet: Just hear me out.
Dinah: You can't fix it this time. No one can.
Mallet: Just hear me out this time, okay? Just hear me out. Now, it's only Frank and I, okay? We are the only two that know about this. So what I'm thinking...
Dinah: Shayne knows.
Mallet: Shayne knows? Shayne knows what? How did he find out?
Dinah: I told him.
Mallet: You told him?
Dinah: Yes.
Mallet: What did you tell him?
Dinah: I told him that I killed the man at the lake.
Mallet: Oh, dammit, Dinah, this changes everything. Has he told Reva and Josh?
Dinah: Yeah, you know why? Because they deserve to know. Really, everybody deserves to know. And I deserve to get what comes next.
Mallet: Would you listen to me?
Dinah: No, no. You listen to me. I ruin everything. Every life I touch. Everyone I care about.
Mallet: Listen to me, Dinah.
Dinah: No, I get it. I get it, I'm a screw-up. I'm a screw-up! I don't want to be, but it happened. You know, it constantly happens, so I need to be somewhere where I'm not hurting people that I care about.
Mallet: Uh-huh, okay, right. And you think being locked up is the answer? You think that's going to help? Talk about screw-ups. Think about this for a second. Think about the people that care about you. What about Bill? Huh? Do you think Bill wants to see his sister sent away to prison? What about your mom? What about Vanessa? How do you think she'll take all that, huh? And think about your friends, what about Remy?
Dinah: You know what, when I told Shayne...
Mallet: Hey, hey, what about Shayne? Let's not forget about Shayne. Don't you think Shayne has been through enough? Why don't you think about the people that care about you? What about me? You think I want to see you sent away? You think I want to see you locked up?
Dinah: I can't live here anymore. I can’t.
Mallet: Okay, then maybe you won't have to.
Reva: You know, it really was a beautiful wedding.
Josh: Yes, it was. Shayne looked so happy. And he looked like a grown man, didn't he?
Reva: Go figure.
Josh: Go figure. I remember when he was seven years old, he told me would he never get married because he was convinced he was going to live his life with the polar bears and no woman would understand.
Reva: I'm glad he changed his mind.
Josh: Me too.
Reva: Because marriage is one of the great joys of life. That's why I've tried it so many times.
Josh: You were just trying to get it right.
Reva: I think I got it right this last time.
Josh: Yeah.
Reva: I'm sorry.
Josh: Don't be.
Reva: I really didn't mean to bring things down.
Josh: I think I'm going to go.
Reva: Well, I'll come with you.
Josh: You don't want to come with me. Not where I'm going.
Reva: Where are you going?
Josh: Where am I going?
Reva: Uh-huh.
Josh: I... where am I going? I'm going to a bar, I think.
Reva: To a bar?
Josh: Yes, to shoot pool in a bar.
Reva: Well, I'll change my clothes.
Josh: No, wait a minute. You don't want to... is that something you want to do?
Reva: Watch you try to shoot pool? Absolutely.
Josh: Shouldn't you rest?
Reva: I can’t. I can't do that. I can't sleep. And if I stay in this house any longer just sitting here, I'm going to lose it. I really am. I had a great day today. The wedding was so wonderful. And it made me feel something that I haven't felt in a while, you know, joy and relief. And that would help me, you know, get through the night. I just need more of that to get through the night.
Josh: Okay, okay. Go change your clothes or whatever you want to do.
Reva: Okay. Besides I'm a better pool player than you are.
Josh: In what alternate universe?
Reva: I'm hanging in there, babe.
Jeffrey: Remember we used to argue all the time about who was tougher? Men or women? And no matter what I told you about military service or special ops, hand-to-hand combat, you just kept saying over and over, childbirth, childbirth, childbirth. I think you're right, you know. Because you are definitely one of the toughest people that I have ever met. So I'm going to try to be like you now.
Frank: Hey.
Marina: Hey.
Frank: By yourself again?
Marina: Oh, no, I was just going to head home to Henry.
Frank: Hopefully, this murder case will be over soon.
Marina: Yeah, it couldn't happen soon enough for me.
Frank: For me, too. You know, I hate the toll that this has taken on you and Mallet and the family and everything else. But don't worry. It will be over soon enough, okay?
Marina: Good riddance. I'll see you.
Frank: Yeah, bye, baby.
Dinah: I meant what I said. I can't live here anymore.
Mallet: Then you won’t. You're going to go away.
Dinah: I'm going to go away? Where am I going to go?
Mallet: You're not going to tell me.
Dinah: I'm not going to tell you?
Mallet: That's right. Now listen, if I can get you out of Springfield safely, do you have enough money?
Dinah: Yes, I have some.
Mallet: Okay, but do you have enough to make a fresh go because if not, we have to figure out how to get you some more.
Dinah: Where am I going to go?
Mallet: You're going to disappear. You're going to go far off the grid and you're going to go away, okay? You're going to go... you're going to go to another country. You've done it before. You've done it before.
Dinah: Yes, I've done it before.
Mallet: Okay, listen to me, listen to me. Do you want to go to jail? Good, so you're going to go away and you're not going look back and you're never coming back, okay? Now I can get to you the border, all right. I can do that. I'm working on that now. That's going to buy you a couple of hours or that's going to buy you a couple of days.
Dinah: Do you really want me to go?
Mallet: Do I want you to go? You've always been a big part of my life. And if I'm not going to see you again-- then whether you go to another country or you go to jail-- I would rather you be somewhere else in another country having your life, running free than sitting in some jail upstate rotting away in a 5x5 cell. Do I want you to go? You have to go.
Dinah: Okay.
Mallet: Okay.
Dinah: But I have to say some good-byes.
Mallet: No, you don’t. There's no time for good-byes.
Dinah: No good-byes, no go. And I turn myself in.
Remy: Hey.
Dinah: Hey, friend.
Remy: Hey, what's the matter?
Dinah: Oh, nothing, nothing.
Remy: I'm glad I ran into you. I just saw Shayne at Farley's and now you're here looking kind of upset.
Dinah: No, no, I'm okay.
Remy: Dinah, whatever the problem is, you'll straighten it out. You know, I know what it's like to waste time when you can be with someone you love. So don't do it, you'll be a lot happier.
Dinah: Do you know that you have always been my best, best friend?
Remy: You're a good friend, too. That's why I want to see you two happy.
Dinah: Remy, you give great advice. You have always given great advice, and I can't thank you enough for that. I will always love you for that.
Remy: You are going to work things out, right?
Dinah: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You go, you go, you go. You give Christina a big hug from me, okay? Okay.
Remy: Okay. Take care.
Dinah: Hey.
Josh: You sure you're up for this?
Reva: No, but staying in here is just too sad by myself.
Josh: Okay.
Reva: Hey.
Josh: Hey, son.
Reva: Where's Dinah?
Shayne: I have no idea. You mean my wife, right? My wife the murderer, Dinah.
Josh: Wait, wait, wait. What are you talking about?
Shayne: Dad, I feel so stupid.
Reva: What the hell's going on?
Shayne: I'm sorry. I want you to know I did not know, okay? I didn't know. Didn't know. All these weeks they thought it was you, I'm so sorry. They locked you up and now you're alone again. Jeffrey's dead and it was her. It was her the whole...
Josh: Simmer down. What are you talking about?
Josh: Dinah murdered the John Doe, all right? Dinah murdered the John Doe, and she didn't tell me. She was going to let you hang for it Mom. And she stood there, and she married me!
Reva: Who told you this? Who told you that it was Dinah?
Shayne: Dinah told me. Dinah told me, Mom. I feel so stupid.
Reva: No, Shayne, you're not stupid.
Josh: What you're feeling is betrayal.
Shayne: I can't believe what she's done to you, to Jeffrey, to Colin, our entire family.
Reva: What she did to you is our concern right now. What she did to me, that's my problem and I'll deal with it when I'm good and ready.
Josh: She's your wife, she shouldn't have lied to you.
Shayne: I don't know what to do now. What do I do?
Josh: Do you want to stay here tonight? Do you want to stay at my place?
Reva: No, no. You know what? You're a married man now. You have to go back. You have to start living your life, and if Dinah’s there, you have to be ready for a very long talk.
Josh: Use your head. Follow your heart but use your head, okay?
Dinah: There you are.
Bill: Hey? What are you doing here? How come you are not honeymooning?
Dinah: Reva needed to see Shayne so... how's the house going?
Bill: The house... my house is a disaster. That's why I'm here. But I think we're going to love it.
Dinah: Good, good for you.
Bill: Look at us, huh? A couple old married fools.
Dinah: I'm really glad that I was able to go to your wedding.
Bill: I am glad I was able to go to yours, sis. Come here. Congratulations again.
Dinah: Are you okay?
Bill: Yeah, of course we're okay. Yeah.
Dinah: Just I hate the time that we wasted, you know, hating one another.
Bill: Come on. Hey, could you ever really hate your brother? No.
Dinah: No, I wish we would have grown-up together a little bit more. You know, we could have played football games or, you know, road trips...
Bill: Dinah, Dinah, could you imagine the epic battles we would have had over the car radio on a road trip or just trying to get in the bathroom?
Dinah: No.
Bill: But it would have been fun.
Dinah: It would have been fun, but I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for ever hurting you. Or ever hurting you or ever hurting Lizzie. I'm so sorry.
Bill: Hey, hey, hey, no, no. Stop. It's passed us, all right? We got the future, and I love to see you as happy as you are now. And I'm happy we're in a good place. And I think what is the greatest thing about it all is that I can say that I have my sister back.
Dinah: Lucky you.
Bill: Yeah. Lucky me.
Mallet: Hey, it's me again. Listen, Mack... listen, stop playing around with me, okay? No. Yes, it has to be on the Canadian side of the border. Yes. Okay, fine. Fine. I am with you, Mack, I got you, okay? I'll owe you. All right, see you in a few.
Dinah: I wanted to talk to you about something. I am the person who killed that man by the river. It wasn't anyone else, Mom, but me. And I have to leave town. But before I leave town, I wanted to make sure I told you how much I love you.
Vanessa: What did you say?
Dinah: He was going to come after Mallet and Marina's baby. He was going to even go after Reva’s baby, and he was going to hurt the kids. I couldn't let that happen. Mom, say something, please.
Vanessa: I'm glad you're running. I don't think I could stand it if I... if I thought that you were locked up again. I think I understand what... I think I understand what you did. I think that you were trying to do something good. I think that you were trying to protect the children. And you acted instinctively to save their lives. Dinah... I love you very, very, very much. Just remember that. Always. And the minute you can, you let me know where you are. Do you understand me?
Dinah: I promise.
Vanessa: Okay. Come here for a minute.
Dinah: I love you, Mom.
Vanessa: I know.
Reva: For the first time in a while I feel like I could actually sleep tonight. And I've leaned on you way too long today. So you go. Go, you go. I'm fine. You're off duty.
Josh: Okay, now you're making me nervous.
Reva: Don't worry. I'm fine.
Josh: No more talking to pictures, okay?
Dinah: Okay, that didn't work. I thought I'd have a few happy moments and I could push all the sadness away, but if life keeps dealing these bad hands, then that's not going to happen. Because I'm alone here. And I'm going to be sad forever.
When I'm trying to outrun you
you won't leave it alone when I need you to be with me
I end up on my own oh, I wish that I could move you
faster be still or rewind but it's a matter of time
my heart is a rubber band strung out between your hand
you gave me love I wasn't ready
then you took it back now that I am
when I'm trying to do outrun you
you won't leave me alone when I need you to be with me
I end up all alone oh, I wish that I could move you
faster be still or rewind but it's a matter of time
my love
why can't we go back
my fate
I will be only a year
it's not so far away
too late
can't we start over again
if he could see me now that I feel differently
I'll come around when I'm trying to outrun you
you won't leave me alone when I need you to be with me
I end up on my own oh, I wish that I could move you
faster be still or rewind it's a matter of time.
Coming up on "Guiding Light".
Jeffrey. Hey, Jeffrey.
Mallet: I'm so sorry that I didn't believe you.
Marina: Yeah, so what did she say when she confessed?
Phillip: You've got to find a way to get me some time. What about that experimental treatment that you told me about? Is that something that can maybe buy me a little bit of time?
Ed: It will either cure you or the treatment itself could kill you.
