Mallet: Marina started all this. I can't believe she stands by and lets this murder blast apart all the lives of the people around her.
Dinah: I know you do, but you don't know that I'm a murderer.
Shayne: This is not your fault. That did not happen because of anything you said.
Dinah: No, you don't understand. This happened because I didn't say something.
Reva: Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you tell me? You got to say goodbye and I didn't!
Dinah: I ruin everything.
Shayne: You do not ruin everything. You do not ruin everything. What you said didn't set my mom off. It was what my dad said. And that was bound to happen.
Dinah: None of this had to happen. But that is the point. It did. I let it.
Shayne: You let... nobody was going talk Jeffrey out of getting on that plane. Babe...
Dinah: Before that.
Shayne: Before... it was Jeffrey’s idea to leave town and not tell my mom. Now she's going to have to deal with that. I'm sorry to say that, but she is. She's going to have to deal with that. It's going to be hard for her, but we can help her through that.
Dinah: I could have stopped all this, if I had just told...
Matt: Hey, guys. No word on Reva yet, but the coffee's pretty good, if you're interested.
Shayne: Want some coffee?
Dinah: Yeah.
Shayne: Okay, I'll get you some coffee, all right?
Dinah: Okay.
Shayne: Sit here. I'll be right back. You going to get some coffee?
Matt: I am. You were going to tell him, weren't you?
Dinah: This whole thing... I could have stopped it. If I had done that, Reva wouldn't have been arrested. Jeffrey wouldn't have gone off and gotten on that plane that crashed. If I had just come forward.
Matt: Yeah, but you didn’t. And there's nothing you can say or do right now that's going to change anything.
Dinah: Matt, I killed a man.
Matt: To protect a child.
Dinah: If I had just told someone, Jeffrey would have never gone after Edmund.
Matt: You couldn't stop Jeffrey from doing what Jeffrey did. And it doesn't matter who killed that John Doe. He deserved it.
Dinah: What do I do now?
Matt: You forget about it. You live your life. You find some happiness. Go be with Reva, and help her get through this tough time. You did the right thing. Trust me when I'm telling you this. You did the right thing.
Remy: (Groans)
Mallet: Does she look like she's even registering what she did? I mean, does she look guilty to you, man? I mean, does she even look like she's concerned, what she did to that guy?
Remy: No. No, and why would she? Even if she did it, she's in the park with her baby, and then Edmund’s henchman tries to take Henry, and then she fights him off. She protects him and then he dies. So what? She did what she had to do. She did what anybody would do. You would have done that. I don't think she needs to feel regret.
Marina: I just feel so guilty, you know? Reva's going to be all alone. I can't imagine trying to raise my son without the help of a father.
Frank: Well, thank God that you got Mallet, you know? A guy who believes in you and will stick with you no matter what.
Lillian: Sorry we're so late. There was an emergency appendectomy at the hospital. I...
Buzz: I don’t... doesn't look like it started yet.
Frank: Oh, it started all right.
Ashlee: I think it's finished.
Lillian: Well, where's Reva?
Ashlee: She got a little upset.
Buzz: Well, it's understandable.
Ashlee: Well, she punched Jeffrey’s photo in the face, and then ran away.
Lillian: Oh, come on.
Buzz: I don't think they're kidding.
Ava: He used to love coming here. But today, it's just not making me feel better.
Olivia: You know what, honey? This might be one of those days where nothing's going to make you feel better. Just going to have to let yourself be sad.
Ava: I thought there would be more time. I thought there would be birthdays and Christmases and grandkids and...
Olivia: You still have me, okay?
Ava: I know, Mom. I love you.
Olivia: I love you, too.
Lillian: Hi, sweetheart. I hear we missed quite a commotion.
Phillip: Oh, you know, Reva kind of fell apart.
Lillian: Did she really punch Jeffrey’s picture?
Phillip: Well, she knocked it over. And said something about Jeffrey not giving her a chance to say goodbye. I know.
Lillian: Yes, she was really upset because she didn't have a chance to say goodbye, because he didn't know he was going to die. And you... you're not giving everyone a chance and you know you're going to die.
Phillip: I know, I know. Lillian, I'm going to tell them. I just feel like my father and I have a chance to learn some important things about each other. And I... I want that to happen.
Buzz: How's Reva? She going to be okay?
Josh: Yeah, she's going to be okay. Just might take a little while, that's all.
Buzz: Might take a long while.
Josh: Yeah.
Bill: Darling, it's going to be okay. I'm not saying it's going to be easy. I'm not saying it's not going to take some time. I'm simply saying, we're going to get you through this. I'm going to get you through this. I'm going to get you over the sadness, and I'm going to get you over the anger.
Reva: I don't want to get over the anger.
Bill: Yeah, you do.
Reva: No, I don’t.
Billy: Are you saying...
Reva: I'm angry! I am angry! Jeffrey left me. He left our baby.
Bill: No, darling, Jeffrey died.
Reva: No, he left first, knowing what could happen.
Billy: Darling, I don't think being angry at Jeffrey is going to help now.
Reva: Stop it. Do not do that to me, Billy. Do not tell me not to be angry with Jeffrey. Don't take that away from me. Do not take my anger away from me, because it's all I have!
Billy: Let's just calm down.
Reva: Stop it. I want to feel this. I deserve to feel this. I deserve something. And I got nothing because my husband stole my goodbye. He stole it. Oh, he told everybody else about his big plans, but he didn't tell me because he knew I wouldn't let him go. Instead, he took me to the park. He took me to the park in some sort of warped, fairy tale goodbye for him. Where's my goodbye? Huh?
Billy: Darling, he thought he was coming back.
Reva: No. No, he didn’t. If he thought that, he would have done things differently. He wouldn't have done this.
Billy: Jeffrey's a tough guy. Jeffrey has escaped death all the time.
Reva: I've escaped, death, Billy! I have! I fought death twice. I survived cancer twice, and I won.
Billy: I'm really glad you did.
Reva: The last time, I fought it for Jeffrey and Colin. I fought to live for him. And now he's deserted me.
Billy: I'll help you, darling.
Reva: No, you can't help me, Billy. You can't help me. I don't want your help. I don't want you to fix this. Because nobody can fix this.
Lillian: Oh, she put quite a dent in that.
Josh: Yeah, it was a... it was a pretty intense moment.
Lillian: That's Reva.
Josh: Yes, it is.
Marina: It was really nice of Christina to watch Henry for us today.
Remy: She likes kids.
Marina: Yeah? Well, that's good. That's important. If you guys are thinking about...
Remy: (Laughs) We just got married. Just give us a few minutes.
Marina: All right. They're incredible, though. They'll change your life.
Remy: Yeah. No kidding.
Marina: I love Henry more than anything in the world. There's nothing I wouldn't do for him.
Mallet: So when you running that feature on Jeffrey?
Ashlee: Oh, tonight, on the 6:00 news.
Mallet: Oh, well, that's good.
Ashlee: Yeah, I mean, it was really all Dinah’s idea. She's just so committed to honoring Jeffrey. You know... when you... when you piece together that whole John Doe murder thing, we should really do a piece. And we could work on it together. And figure out who is to blame. I mean, we should put a face...
Mallet: You know, I don't really have any new leads on that case. I'm thinking about just putting it in the... the unsolved file, and, you know, moving on.
Phillip: Hey.
Buzz: Hey.
Phillip: Hard day, huh?
Buzz: Oh, yeah. Yeah, you try to get through it, you know. Days and weeks. Then something happens to you. You think you see his face in the crowd. You think... somebody's nice to you and you get a package in the mail addressed to him.
Phillip: I can't even imagine.
Buzz: Yeah, I was supposed to go first.
Phillip: Yeah, we are, aren't we?
Billy: I told Josh to take everybody over to the ball field. But since it's kind of far away from here, I have the car outside, and we could... we could just... well, we can walk over.
Reva: I don't want to go to the ball field.
Billy: Darling, everybody's there, and they all want to show their support.
Reva: Then you tell them I said, thank you.
Billy: It's not the same as you being there.
Reva: If I go there, they're all going to tell me how sorry they are. They're all going to want to hold my hand and pat me on the back. And I just may have to take one of them out.
Billy: Okay, sounds to me like you know what you want.
Reva: I want to go home.
Billy: All right, well, I'll get my car and take you home.
Reva: You can't stay.
Billy: I'm going... I'm going to go back and have some chicken, anyway. Come on.
Marina: Hey. Hey, Dad, why don't you let me do this, and you can go mingle with the single ladies, huh?
Frank: You know, actually, this all looks pretty good, and I'm doing all right here. So why don’t... why don't you spend some time with your husband, okay?
Ashlee: Where do you want these?
Marina: I think we need some more ice. Yeah?
Ava: This town just doesn't feel the same anymore. If it wasn't for my mom and Emma, there would be no reason for me to come back now.
Remy: A lot's happened in a year.
Ava: A year.
Remy: So how... how long are you staying in town?
Ava: I'm leaving tomorrow. I have to get back to work.
Remy: I just thought, next week...
Ava: I think about him every day.
Remy: Sometimes I wonder how big he'd be now.
Ava: I'm glad that we can talk about him now. I'm sorry that I couldn't talk about him before. And I'm sorry that I fell apart.
Remy: I'm sorry, too, but we were finding our way, right?
Ava: Yeah.
Remy: Maybe we can visit his memorial before you leave?
Ava: I would like that.
Phillip: Your daughter seems lovely. Sorry this is why she's here, but it's at least nice that you can be here for her.
Olivia: Yeah, of course, I'll be here for her. I kind of wish someone could be here for me. I just feel like I'm dealing with everything on my own.
Phillip: I don't think that's true. You're a huge part of this town. You're connected to practically everybody.
Olivia: Why do I feel so alone?
Dinah: Such a sad day.
Shayne: You know, it doesn't all have to be sad.
Dinah: So sorry about your mom, I wish there was something I could do.
Shayne: There is something you can do. We can give her something to be happy about. Come on. Come on.
Reva: Billy.
Billy: Yeah.
Reva: No, no, no. You promised me you weren't going to stay.
Billy: I just... just want to see you in the house.
Reva: I know you do. But I want you... it's daytime. Just get in the truck and go.
Billy: Darling, I hate leaving you like this.
Reva: I know. I know, Billy, I know! But it's what I want!
Jeffrey: Reva.
How about I hold the ladder and
you climb?
That way, I can watch.
Reva: You did not hear your
daddy say that.
No, it's not straight.
One side is higher than the
other.
Jeffrey: A minute ago you
said lower.
Reva: I know, but it's
higher.
It's not right.
Jeffrey: No one's going to
see it anyway.
Reva: I will see it.
I thought you were going to...
Jeffrey: I'm going to go get some nails.
Reva: Good, okay.
Hurry back.
You know what?
Colin...
Jeffrey: I'm going to the
store to get more nails.
I'm going to the store...
I'm going to the store...
Reva: Hurry up.
Jeffrey: I'm going...
I'm going...
I'm going to the store.
I'm going to the store.
I'm going to the store.
Reva: (Cries)
Dinah: A little scary that this is one of our favorite places.
Shayne: How did I know you would say that? I love it.
Dinah: Is that because I saved you here, that you turned around and you saved me?
Shayne: No, it's more than that. This place represents our freedom. We're not carrying around the burdens we were, when we first met each other. You know, it's like we came up here to this rooftop, and we took them and when we just tossed them over the edge.
Dinah: Yeah, we almost tossed ourselves over that edge a few times.
Shayne: Yeah. But we didn’t.
Dinah: No.
Shayne: Hey, we didn’t. We're still here together. And that's what matters. Where is it?
Dinah: Where is what?
Shayne: The ring. Where's the ring? I mean so little to you, you're not even carrying it with you?
Dinah: It's right...
Shayne: "It's right..." oh, where is it? Do you have it?
Dinah: Oh my, goodness.
Shayne: You're lucky. You're lucky.
Dinah: Whooo!
Shayne: See, I knew you had it. Just like I know that we're good for each other. And just like I know that I belong in your life. And I know that you belong in mine. And I know that you know that, so I'm wondering why you're fighting it so hard.
Dinah: Shayne, I still have issues with controlling, and needing to do that. And I just think I have some more stuff, you know?
Shayne: Then we're going to have to look for your stuff together.
Dinah: You want to spend the rest of your life saving me?
Shayne: Yes. Yes, I do.
Mallet: Marina.
Marina: (Cries)
Mallet: Baby, it's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Come here. It's okay. It's got to be overwhelming, baby. It's got to be overwhelming with everything you've been through. It's all right. Baby, you just had enough.
Marina: Shut up! Please, will you just shut up? I am not crying because I killed somebody. I'm not crying because I'm keeping any secrets. I'm crying because I am sad. I am sad because we're losing everything, Mallet. You were my best friend. I had your back and you had mine. And that made us fall in love. And then we got Henry. And our lives seemed so perfect. And now it looks like that may not work out. And that makes me sad.
Mallet: It makes me sad, too.
Marina: So what are we going to do?
Mallet: We're going go home. Go home together.
Olivia: There are things that you don't know about me. Things that I would rather you hear from me, instead of somebody else. It's a really hard year last year, a lot of loss, with Gus and the baby and Coop, and finally, your father.
Ava: It's been overwhelming.
Olivia: I know. I know. And I don't know that I could have gotten through it without a really special person in my life. Natalia, she... she saved me.
Ava: I know. She gave you Gus’s heart.
Olivia: She gave me more than that. She nursed me back to health. And she stood by me, when I probably didn't deserve it. And made me realize how precious life is. And she taught me how to love.
Ava: She's a very special woman.
Olivia: We fell in love.
Ava: You... you love Natalia?
Olivia: More than I have ever loved anyone in my life.
Ava: I think that's wonderful. And I'm really happy for you. Hey, I said I was happy for you, what's wrong? Mom?
Olivia: It should be a really great thing, it really should. But you know, it just... it got to be too hard for her and she just... she left. So...
Ava: Well, where did she go? Go get her.
Olivia: She doesn't want to be found.
Ava: Mom, are you okay?
Olivia: No. No, honey, I'm not.
Lillian: Never gets easier, does it?
Buzz: No.
Lillian: I imagine you're thinking about Coop, huh?
Buzz: Yeah. Every day. It's kind of a fantasy/horror thing. I think about him grading papers, who he thinks he's going to pick for the World Series. You know, thinking about what's going on in his head.
Lillian: Well, maybe you're just going to have to settle for the fact that he knows what's going on in yours.
Buzz: I hope.
Phillip: Hey. Reva?
Reva: It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. I'm not hurt. I put fourth of July decorations up this year. It was Colin’s first fourth of July. And I wanted to take a picture of them in front of the house with all the decorations. Jeffrey got home right when I was putting them up, and he held the ladder for me so I wouldn't fall. And then he said my banner was crooked, so I made him get up on the ladder. And then he... he kissed me, I think. And then he said he needed more nails. He had to go to the hardware store. He walked down the driveway to his car. I didn't even look at him. I never saw him again.
Phillip: I'm sorry.
Reva: I don't even know what he was wearing. I've been sitting here trying to remember what he was wearing. Why didn't I look at him?
Phillip: You didn't know Jeffrey was leaving. You certainly didn't know that he wasn't coming back.
Reva: I didn't know because I wasn't looking. I didn't even see him that day, I mean, really see him. I mean, did I ever really see him? I mean, how many things did I miss in that year we had together? How many things did he say to me that I didn't really hear? How many things did he do that I didn't really see? Just... I want to go back. I want to go and do it all over again, you know? If I could just go back to that last day, even, so that I can watch him walk away.
Phillip: I'm not sure we're meant to see it all. Because even... I mean, think about it. Even if you know, you can try to take it all in. Every smile, every gesture, every sound. You can... you can try to capture all of that and record it in your mind. But if you're doing that, if you're trying so hard to see everybody that's around you, you're not living. You know, you're not having those moments with those people.
Reva: Either... either way it really sucks, doesn't it? It just sucks.
Phillip: I know. But God, it's beautiful. It's going to be okay. Come on. Let me help you up.
Reva: Not yet. Not yet. Thank you.
Billy: Hey, you know, brother, she... she was really damn mad.
Josh: Well, I get it, you know, because I was really damn mad when she drove off that bridge. In fact, if I recall correctly, I burned an entire closet of clothes. (Laughs)
Billy: It's pretty tough to lose the one you really love, isn't it?
Josh: Yeah, it is. But you know, that baby, that's the key. The baby's going to help her find herself again, just like Marah and Shayne helped me.
Billy: You think? I mean, brother, she's angry. She's angry.
Josh: Well, she doesn't like being handled. You know that. She thinks that Jeffrey handled the situation without her. He didn't give her a chance to be a part of it.
Billy: In some ways, I guess he's lucky he had you.
Josh: Yeah, he's dead. How is that lucky?
Billy: I'm saying, you two ended up being friends. Don't you think it's kind of funny how life works out that way?
Josh: Yeah.
Marina: You want a sandwich? We didn't get to eat at the wake.
Mallet: No, no thanks.
Mallet: I wonder how Reva’s doing?
Mallet: Well, hopefully she's not trashing her house.
Marina: Well, Colin’s there. I do understand why she's so mad, though. You think one thing about your life, and then it turns out to be something completely different.
Mallet: Yeah.
Marina: Jeffrey never gave her the chance to understand what he was doing.
Mallet: He didn't trust her to understand.
Marina: What do I have to do to make you trust me again?
Mallet: Trust me!
Marina: I do. Or I did, until I realized how quickly you would bail out on me.
Mallet: I'm not bailing on you. That's the last thing I'm doing. I'm trying to get you to be honest with me.
Marina: That look in your eyes. I never thought I would see that. You don't trust me. Do you even still love me?
Mallet: I will always love you.
Dinah: You aren't afraid to spend the rest of your life with me?
Shayne: No. I am excited about it. I'm intrigued by it. I'm a million other things than afraid.
Dinah: You're a brave man, Shayne Lewis.
Shayne: Yes, I am.
Dinah: You deserve to have a wonderful life.
Shayne: Yes, I do. And I want that life with you. I want a crazy, exciting, roller coaster-bananas life with you.
Dinah: Well, that I probably can deliver, yes.
Shayne: Then say yes, and let's do this. We know everything about each other, and we still love being together.
Dinah: Maybe not everything.
Shayne: Not everything, really? Well, that's good. Because I like surprises. So what do you say? Marry me. Surprise me for the rest of my life.
Dinah: Yes.
Shayne: Yes...
Dinah: Yes, I'll marry you! (Laughter)
Shayne: Yes, you'll marry me?
Dinah: Yes, I'll marry you!
Shayne: Come here, come here.
Dinah: It's beautiful! (Laughter)
Josh: You know, Shayne used to play ball in this park. And the two of them, Marah and Shayne, used to play on that swing set right over there. But today it’s...
Billy: Today? Today we say goodbye to a friend. You look like you could use a piece of pie. Come on.
Josh: That's because you want a piece of pie.
Billy: That's true. (Laughter)
Buzz: Actually, he was in the middle of a project, a book about his mother's life. That's why, you know... why he ordered these. He was talking to Cyrus, research I guess.
Frank: I think it's a great story.
Buzz: Yeah.
Frank: Yeah, absolutely. Hey. The adventures of a beautiful jewel thief who found the love of her life, right here in the little old town of Springfield.
Buzz: She could have done so much better, Frank.
Frank: Stop talking about yourself like that, come on. It's beautiful. It's beautiful that he wanted to write a book about his mom, you know? That's a great gift to you. I miss him, Pop. He was a great guy.
Buzz: I want to make this book happen. You know, it's a way to keep him alive. I just... I don't know where to start.
Lillian: Are you having a good conversation?
Phillip: He's a good listener. What are you doing here?
Lillian: I was putting some flowers on Maureen’s grave. Today is such a reminder, huh?
Phillip: Uh-huh. Yeah, I am reminded that I've got all kinds of things to do before I join the crowd up here.
Lillian: Well, don't joke.
Phillip: Have to.
Lillian: You do have an appointment with me at the hospital. I'll remind you of that.
Phillip: I know.
Lillian: Tomorrow.
Phillip: I'll be there.
Lillian: Why don't you walk me to my car?
Phillip: You trying to get me out of here?
Lillian: Come on.
Olivia: So you know, if you have any pull with Natalia, could you please just tell her to come home? I'll make her happy. We'll make each other happy. I promise.
Mallet: Did you get Henry back to sleep?
Marina: Yeah. Yeah, I did. He's the best kid in the world. We're lucky. Can't take that for granted.
Mallet: I never take Henry for granted.
Marina: I know how much you love him. And you just said that you still love me.
Mallet: I do.
Marina: Then no matter how crazy things may seem right now, that means that we can still get back on track. Because we have too much to lose to just let it all slip away. I love you. And I love Henry. And I will fight for my family.
Dinah: I mean, how many people have you told that we are engaged? It was the desk clerk...
Shayne: Yeah, I did.
Dinah: ...The maid.
Shayne: People like good news. What's wrong with good news?
Dinah: Oh, I guess you're right. Okay, so we have to start planning.
Shayne: Yeah.
Dinah: Yes.
Shayne: Yeah. Let's start right now.
Dinah: Now?
Shayne: Yes, right now. Yes, because I'm a very focused man, and I very much want to marry you. So let's start right now.
Dinah: You want to do that now?
Shayne: Did I say now? I think I said now.
Dinah: Yeah.
Shayne: How about sooner the better? How about that?
Dinah: Okay.
Shayne: Yeah? Well, we can do something else first.
Dinah: Like what? (Laughs)
Reva: What were you thinking, Jeffrey?
Next on "Guiding Light"
Phillip: I've got a few things that I want to get straightened out with my father. I really feel like, for the first time, I've got a shot to do it.
Shayne: Since all the important people know, maybe we can tell our families now.
Dinah: Oh, them.
Marina: I just thought I would come up here and check in with you. You know, are you going to treat me like your wife or a suspect?
