Shayne: She's working on a thing for Jeffrey. She's going to air it on WSPR.

Reva: You know, you were the last person to see him, so I feel close to you.

Dinah: Reva, I'm going to make sure that you have everything you need to get through this time, okay?

Mallet: I know what you did. I know you killed that man you thought was Edmund.

Dinah: Shayne.

Billy: Are you okay?

Reva: I don't know.

Billy: Sweetie, there's no law that says you have to do this. I can do it. Shayne can do it.

Reva: No, I have to. I have to do it. I mean, Jeffrey didn't have anyone else. I'm all he has.

Billy: I'll be there with you, too.

Reva: I know. It’s... it's not really that. I don't even know what he would want.

Billy: Yeah, I guess you never really got a chance to talk about that, did you?

Reva: We weren't even married a year.

Billy: Well, you knew him. You loved him. And I just think that you're going to... you're going to get a feeling, and you'll know what's right. Come on. Let's give it a whirl.

Rafe: Hey. Where the hell is my mother?

Olivia: I don't know, where is she?

Rafe: You tell me. You're the one that drove her away.

Olivia: I didn't drive her away. She left.

Rafe: No, I know that, but she left me because of you.

Olivia: What?

Rafe: Look, you tried to take advantage of her, all right?

Olivia: What is it with you? What is it with you? Maybe it was you. Maybe it was because your church made her feel dirty. Maybe it's because you treated her like she was a bad person because she fell in love with someone.

Rafe: Me?

Olivia: Yeah, you.

Rafe: First of all, you, okay? It was your fault.

Olivia: My fault.

Rafe: Yeah.

Olivia: What is wrong with you? How could you do that? How could you make her feel that loving anyone could be wrong? How could you not be happy for her?

Rafe: You don't love her. You didn't love her. You didn't care about her or care about what made her happy. You just wanted someone to love you. And you couldn't find somebody, so you chose my mother, okay? You took advantage of her because you thought she was weak.

Olivia: Oh, God.

Mallet: Hey, it's just you and me, okay? It's just you and me right here, right now. Let it all go. All right? I know everything.

Marina: You know everything about what?

Mallet: Marina, the secret you've been keeping from me for months. I know. Now it doesn't matter whether that dead body was Edmund Winslow or not, it doesn't matter. But a man is dead, okay? And I know that you murdered him. Baby? Baby? Of course, you're in denial, I get that. It was a traumatic event.

Marina: Denial?

Mallet: I want you to know that I'm here to help you, okay? I understand. We'll figure this out. We'll work it out. But you need to tell me what happened.

Marina: Oh my God, you're serious.

Mallet: Talk to me. You need to tell me what happened. You... Marina!

Dinah: Shayne.

Shayne: Dinah Marler, will you marry me?

Dinah: Shayne, I don't know why you would want to marry me. I... I'm not good luck, you know. I... I tried, but I don't think you... I don't think you know who I really am.

Shayne: Would you listen to me for a second? I mean, I'm on my knees here, woman, let me finish, all right? Since you've came into my life I... since you've came into my life, I've had a life. I know it's been a crazy life, I'll give you that. It's been bananas. It's been like a... it's been like riding a motorcycle blindfolded, all right? But it makes me feel alive,. That's something I haven't felt in a really long time. When you... when you first came at me, you were like a wildfire, right? And my instincts were to run for the hills. But thank God that I didn’t. Because I've had more fun with you. I've had more joy. I've had more hope... more hope than I ever have since we've been together. And I want that forever. And I want it with you. That's why it's not enough just to share a bed anymore. I want the ring. I want the license. And I want it all, and I want it with you. I want it forever. Marry me, baby.

Dinah: You're everything I've ever wanted. But the answer's no. No.

Man: Usually we start with the casket.

Reva: We don't need a casket.

Billy: We weren't able to recover the remains.

Man: I'm so sorry. Well, then we could start with flowers. We have many choices. For a man, we usually stay neutral with the flowers. You have a choice of white, bisque, ivory, unless he had a favorite color or flower.

Reva: I don't even know if he liked flowers.

Man: Pick something you like.

Billy: Yeah, that's a good idea.

Reva: This is for Jeffrey.

Man: But we want you to be happy.

Billy: Hey, what about music? Jeffrey would like music. He played music. He played the guitar.

Man: We have recorded music. And we have an organist available if you have any special requests. She's very good.

Billy: Well, that's nice to know.

Man: Normally a family member would choose scripture or a reading. Maybe a sibling could recite a favorite poem of his.

Reva: We had hot dogs for our wedding.

Man: I'm unaware of a poem about hot dogs.

Billy: I think Reva would like something that's a little unconventional, that's all.

Man: You know, we could arrange the chairs in a circle, if you would like. We've done that before. That way everyone can join hands.

Billy: I got it.

Reva: You can...

Billy: Yes.

Reva: Or call Shayne. He'll help you to. I just need to go for a walk.

Shayne: You know, you can't just say that you're not going to marry me and try to leave it at that.

Dinah: There are a million reasons why we shouldn't be getting married right now.

Shayne: Yeah, a million, huh? Give me one.

Dinah: Reva, your mom. This wouldn't be fair to her. She's going through hideous grief right now.

Shayne: My mom is your reason? My mom is your reason? My mom would be the first one on top of a table dancing at our wedding, Dinah.

Dinah: This is... this is really sudden, right now. I think that we need to take a break.

Shayne: Listen. Hey, hey, listen to me. I know what you're afraid of. You're afraid that you don't deserve a happy life right now because Jeffrey just lost his. That's what you're afraid of.

Dinah: I make good things bad, Shayne.

Shayne: I wish that you could see the you the way that I see you. I really do. You're... you're the person that put your own safety aside to go and pursue Edmund so that others would not be in danger. That's who you are.

Dinah: You're picking the wrong girl. You don't know who I am. Not really.

Shayne: I know you saved my life. I know that you fixed my bum head. I know that you've kept me from jumping off of a roof.

Dinah: That was selfish. I didn't want to lose you. You were my only friend at the time.

Shayne: I still want you. I do. Because I know who you are. That's why I want you. Dinah, I'm no dummy. I know a good thing when I find it, all right. And I found it with you. And I'll spend the rest of my life proving it to you, if I have to.

Dinah: I can't wear this.

Shayne: Okay, listen. All I'm saying... here, give me your hand. Just... just think about it, okay? Just think about it. All right? (Cell phone rings) I'm sorry. Yeah, hello.

Billy: Hey, Shayne.

Shayne: Hey, Uncle Billy, it's not a good moment, right now. Can I call you back?

Billy: No, actually you can’t. Look, I'm over at the funeral parlor with your mom. She was trying to make decisions and she got a little overwhelmed. And... well, I'm here, nothing has been decided, no plans have been made, and I need your help.

Shayne: Okay. Yup, I'll get right there. I have to go. Billy's having a hard time with Jeffrey’s service. My mom left. She's too upset, she split. So I've got to go help him. I'm...

Dinah: It's okay. We'll finish this later.

Mallet: Running away is not the answer. This is a serious issue, and we have to talk about it.

Marina: You think that I killed Edmund.

Mallet: Or the man that looks like Edmund, yes, I do. Marina, I know you did.

Marina: I am not a murderer. How could you even think something like that?

Mallet: The plastic in his wound matches the crack in your stroller.

Marina: The stroller? The stroller, Mallet, the damn stroller? I already told you, I don't remember how it got damaged, okay? But you would think that I might remember if I bashed someone in the head with it!

Mallet: But would you have told me?

Marina: Look me in the eyes, Mallet. Read my lips. I am not a murderer! I didn't do this! There is nothing that I can tell you right now that is going to make you believe that, is there?

Mallet: If I followed the evidence to you, others can do the same. And I don't need that to happen. That's why I need you to tell the truth.

Marina: Do I need a lawyer?

Mallet: Dammit, Marina, would be you honest for once? You've been lying to me for weeks. Where are you going?

Marina: I swear, if you tell me not to leave the state right now, I will bash your head in!

Mallet: I don't want you walking around and driving around all upset.

Marina: No, no, no, no, no! No more, Mallet!

Jeffrey: I want you to remember that. You know, that as much as you love all of this, I love it, too. And I want you to remember that no matter what happens in our lives, that I love you and Colin more than anything in the whole world.

Reva: Billy? Don't write the check. I know where Jeffrey wants to have the funeral.

Danny: I was hoping I'd see you. I'm so glad you're here. Oh, wow. Talk about service with a smile. Where's the smile? You okay? What's going on? You want to tell me about it?

Marina: No, no, I can’t. I... I don't even know where to begin.

Danny: I'm a good listener. No, no.

Marina: No, you're not.

Danny: No, I'm not. But, hey, the good thing is with me, whatever it is, you know you can't shock me, right?

Marina: That is true. That is so true. I really can't talk about it. Let's talk about you. Why are you here? I mean, not that I'm not glad to see you.

Danny: No, no, no, I know, I know. Well, when I was here for the barbecue, I ran into some old business associates of mine. No, no, no, no, no. Legit, legit business. Restaurant suppliers, bar managers.

Marina: So you here to put me out of business?

Danny: Now, why does everyone think I'm here to run them out of business? I don't get that. I don't understand that.

Marina: I don't know why people would think that. Well, I would be glad if you came back. You can never have too many friends.

Dinah: Last time I saw you, you were hitting balls in the park. Now you're shooting baskets.

Mallet: Yeah, it's good to be active.

Dinah: Yeah. Metabolism slowing down, you getting a little spare tire.

Mallet: Funny, funny girl.

Dinah: All right.

Mallet: Oh, yeah.

Dinah: Give me a shot.

Mallet: Ah-ha.

Dinah: Oh!

Mallet: Oh, lucky!

Dinah: So good.

Mallet: Lucky.

Dinah: Today may be my lucky day.

Mallet: Really?

Dinah: Yeah. Shayne proposed.

Mallet: Congratulations.

Dinah: Yeah, I didn't say yes.

Mallet: (Laughs) Well, yet, but you're going to because you just like being pursued.

Dinah: Usually I do. But with everything going on with Jeffrey, I'm just not feeling it.

Mallet: Well, you know, some of those loose ends might be tied up real soon. I confronted Marina about killing that John Doe.

Dinah: What? What did you do? Did you ask her during breakfast when you ask for the bacon? Did you say, hon, I want the bacon... what, what, did you ask her if she was a murderer?

Mallet: No, I did it when she was folding towels.

Dinah: Oh, okay. Mallet, why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? You're throwing everything away.

Mallet: My wife killed someone. My wife killed someone.

Dinah: So did I. And you still loved me.

Mallet: But I need her to tell me. I want her to be honest with me. I need that. Why won't she do that?

Dinah: Mallet, you know what? Sometimes you need too much from people.

Frank: I didn't know you played basketball.

Dinah: Yeah. How are you?

Frank: I'm good, I'm good. How are you?

Dinah: Okay.

Frank: I'm sorry about Jeffrey. I haven't had the opportunity to tell you that. I know you guys spent a lot of time together.

Dinah: Yeah, it's sad. I'm hoping that his funeral will help us put this whole Edmund mess behind us, so we can all just move on.

Frank: Yeah. Well, I wish we could, but you know there's still a murder case to solve here. Somebody killed that John Doe.

Dinah: Yeah. Why aren't you just putting that in the unsolved file, you know, so we can all just heal?

Frank: Well, that's Mallet case and he just doesn't do that, you know. That dead guy that might be Edmund, that John Doe is just as dead.

Dinah: Who's out there looking for Edmund?

Frank: Well, we don't have absolute proof that, you know, Edmund is alive. But those that know him believe that he is.

Dinah: Frank, I don't know. I think you should be out there looking for Edmund instead of focusing your time with this guy who can't hurt us anymore.

Danny: Still black, two sugars, right?

Marina: You're good.

Danny: That's what they say. So...

Marina: So, so tell me what's going on with you? How is everything?

Danny: Good, good, everybody's good.

Marina: Yeah.

Danny: You know, yeah.

Marina: Kids are getting big.

Danny: Yes, they are. They're enormous. Well, you've seen them.

Marina: You guys planning on having more.

Danny: No, two is plenty. We got one of each, so we're good.

Marina: Good. And you like L.A.

Danny: I love L.A. I do. You know, Michelle and I had to get out of here, so we could start over. We had a lot of work to do.

Marina: I'm sorry. I didn’t...

Danny: No, no, no, come on, not because of you. We had our own stuff to work out. Hey, relationships hit tough patches. They take work. Learning how to trust each other again. But it's worth it, right?

Marina: Yeah.

Remy: Hey, look what I found, man.

Mallet: Where did you get that?

Remy: It was by the evidence room. It's yours, right? I've seen Marina pushing Henry in it.

Mallet: Yeah, but it's got a crack in it.

Remy: Yeah, it does, but it still pushes good ,though.

Mallet: Yeah.

Remy: Yeah, so give me your keys, I'll put it in your trunk.

Mallet: No, that's all right. That's all right.

Remy: No, no, it's no big deal. I'm not even working. I had to go in because I...

Mallet: No, I... I don't want that in my car.

Remy: Okay, so where should I put it then.

Mallet: I'll take it. Thanks, man. I'll take it. Thanks. I got it.

Billy: Hey, girl. You lucky you got me. I was just about to write a check. What's up?

Reva: I know what he wants. I know where we're going to have the funeral.

Billy: Okay.

Reva: Right here. Right here in this park. I mean, some of the best times we had were here. Standing on that bridge over there, and feeding the swans and playing with Colin.

Billy: So you want to have it right here in the park?

Reva: Yeah, this is where it's going to be. Right here. I want people to come here and gather here, and get to know the Jeffrey I knew. And then, I want to get to know the Jeffrey they knew. I want everybody to share everything that they loved about him. And it should be in a place that he loved, not in someplace that he would never go to.

Billy: I like it.

Reva: Yeah. I mean, the last time we were here we had Colin. We had a picnic on a blanket right in that spot. It was the perfect day. And it was so beautiful. And I want to remember that. I want to remember the way he smiled at me that day.

Reva: Hi.

Doris: Oh, hi.

Reva: I'm glad I ran into you. Because I don't really have time for the bureaucratic run around from your aides.

Doris: And I don't have time for a lot of chit chat, what do you need?

Reva: I was wondering if you could officiate at Jeffrey’s memorial.

Doris: Aren't there religious people who can do that sort of thing?

Reva: He wasn't really a religious man. And you... he was like you in that he was a servant of the people.

Doris: When is it?

Reva: Tomorrow at 11:00 A.M..

Doris: I'll clear my schedule.

Reva: Thank you.

Marina: Here you go.

Billy: No, I'm not going have any today, thank you.

Marina: Well, we have lemon meringue.

Billy: Yeah, I'm just not hungry.

Marina: Wow.

Billy: You know, I spent all day with Reva trying to figure out Jeffrey’s funeral service.

Marina: I'm sorry. It must have been hard.

Billy: Yeah, a little bit.

Marina: Well, how is she doing? How is she holding up?

Billy: Well, you know, for her normal is not normal. So she's either up or down, so when she's just even I get kind of scared. I don't know what to do.

Marina: You know, she's got a lot going on right now. And she has to take care of Colin. I don't know, maybe that's keeping her from falling part. I know when my whole world blows up, I am so glad that I have Henry.

Billy: Yeah.

Marina: He keeps me from falling part. Sometimes that's a good thing.

Billy: You also got your husband, too. He must keep you steady. You see Reva, she doesn't have her husband anymore.

Marina: You're right. I do still have my husband. Thank you for reminding me of that. Hey, Ash.

Ashlee: Hello, hi.

Marina: Hey, I need to spend some time with Mallet. Do you mind watching him for a bit?

Ashlee: Oh, no, not at all. Of course, yeah. You know, I love that you two-- even though you have been married so long-- you still want to spend time together.

Marina: Yeah. Well, he's been fed and he's been changed, so he will just sit here and watch you work.

Ashlee: Okay. Come on, help me. Help me out, Henry. Let's get this together. Okay. (Henry bangs keyboard) Yes, exactly. Marina?

Marina: Yeah.

Ashlee: You and Mallet, you guys really give me hope for the future. (Henry bangs keyboard) Yes, exactly. Exactly.

Olivia: Hi, Ava baby, it's me. I just wanted to see how you were doing. I'm... I'm okay. I'm okay. Billy Lewis called me and the service... the service is going to be tomorrow. Oh, you are? Okay, good. No, tell me your flight number. I want... I want to pick you up, and Emma is going to be so happy to see you. Me, too. Your father loved you very much, you know that? I'm glad you're going to have a chance to say goodbye to him. Everyone deserves a chance to say goodbye.

Ashlee: Hey, Rafe.

Rafe: Oh, hey. Hey, buddy.

Ashlee: Do you want to come join us?

Rafe: Honesty, I would, but I don't feel like I'd be very good company today.

Ashlee: Well, okay. How is your mom? Is she... I haven't seen her?

Rafe: That's because nobody has.

Ashlee: No? Wait, is she okay?

Rafe: Yeah, you know, she's just going a little bit out of her mind right now.

Ashlee: Oh, oh yeah. Oh, the breakup with Frank, yeah, that must be it.

Rafe: She's not thinking about Frank right now.

Ashlee: Oh my God, did she... did she leave him for someone else?

Rafe: It's not exactly like that. I don't know why I'm trying to keep her secret. It's just stupid.

Ashlee: What... what are you... what's the secret?

Rafe: My mother thinks that she's in love with a woman, and she can't be with Frank because she loves this certain woman.

Ashlee: Wait, your mom is gay?

Rafe: Ashlee, come on, stop. My mom's not gay, all right? Don't say it so loud.

Ashlee: Well, has she had other girlfriends?

Rafe: I don't know, God? She barely told me anything. I don't know. I don't know.

Ashlee: Wow, wow.

Rafe: I'm sorry, I shouldn't even have told you. Please don't tell anybody.

Ashlee: No, I won't, of course not, of course. But are you okay?

Rafe: Yeah. I don't know. I feel like I don't know my mother.

Remy: So I guess you didn't want the stroller, huh?

Mallet: Yeah, we got a new one and it's very nice.

Remy: Okay.

Mallet: I don't want to see the stroller, Remy, okay? I can't stand to look at it. And I don't want anyone else to see it either.

Remy: It's just a stroller, man.

Mallet: No, it's not, man. No it's not. Unfortunately, it's a murder weapon. Someone used that stroller to kill that John Doe in the river.

Remy: Wait. You telling me someone used your stroller? Are you saying Marina's the killer?

Mallet: That's why the stroller was at the evidence room. The plastic's a match.

Remy: What's the motive?

Mallet: Henry!

Remy: Shayne's son, which makes him Edmund’s grandson. She was protecting... she was protecting her kid from Edmund.

Mallet: Yeah, that's how I think it went down. And I don't know what to do. If my wife killed someone...

Remy: Mallet, she was protecting her kid, okay? Hell, if Henry was mine and someone came after him, I would bash his head in with a hammer. Protecting your kid is the purest form of self-defense.

Mallet: I know that. I know that. And I would have done the same thing if Edmund would have come to me. I would have done anything to stop him. That's not the point. The thing that gets me is, why didn't she tell me that? Why didn't she tell me? Why did she let this investigation drag on? And when I did ask her about it, why did she deny it, Remy? Why? Huh? I mean, I want to help her. But why does she not trust me?

Dinah: Hey, buddy.

Ashlee: He's almost asleep. Would you watch him for a minute? I'm just going to go and get my laptop.

Dinah: Sure, sure. Hey. Hey, buddy. Want to see something shiny? Let me show you something. Look at that. See that, isn't it pretty? Isn't that pretty? I don't deserve this. I wish I did, but I don't deserve this. I wanted Mallet and your mommy to be so happy together. I never thought that he would think that she was the murderer. I didn't want anyone to get blamed for this, not at all. Nobody. But I had to protect you from Edmund when he tried to grab you that day. I... I had to keep you safe because he was going to take you away. He was going to take you away. I didn't have any other choice than to kill Edmund or whoever that man was who was coming after you. Henry, I did this. I did this. And I hope to God some day I'll be forgiven. But I'm the one who killed that man. It was for you.

Matt: Dinah.

Dinah: Matt?

Dinah: Did you...

Matt: I came in when you were talking to Henry.

Dinah: So you heard me ...

Ashlee: Hey, little one. Oh, you didn't sleep at all. Dinah, I finished the thing on Jeffrey. Do you want to come in and check it out?

Dinah: Yeah, I will later, but not right now, Ashlee. Thank you.

Ashlee: Okay.

Shayne: Hey, so what's going on? How is the planning for the service?

Reva: I think we're all set.

Shayne: Yeah?

Reva: Uh-huh.

Shayne: Okay, okay. What I can do to help? I was just with Billy, but then you called...

Reva: Yeah, I know. I needed time to figure out what Jeffrey would want.

Shayne: And?

Reva: And I figured it out. Thank you for being a concerned son. And I promise you that I will stop being so much trouble.

Shayne: Mom, you're not any trouble.

Reva: I am, I am. I want you and Dinah to be able to get on with your lives, because seeing the two of you together gives me hope for the future.

Shayne: Me, too. Me, too.

Doris: Ashlee, hi. Quick, some coffee, please. I've got a lot of work to do today, so I can free up tomorrow.

Ashlee: Oh, tomorrow?

Doris: Yeah, Reva asked me to officiate Jeffrey’s memorial.

Ashlee: Oh, wow. Are you going to do it?

Doris: Yeah, of course. Of course, I am.

Ashlee: Good, that's great. I'm very proud of you.

Doris: Well, it's just part of the job.

Ashlee: No, Mom, you are reliable. You're dependable. I like dependable in a parent.

Doris: Well, I am what I am.

Ashlee: Not everyone is.

Doris: That's true. What are we talking about?

Ashlee: It's the weirdest thing. I saw Rafe, and he told me something. It seems that Natalia is gay, and he never knew about it. And he just found out. And he's a little upset.

Doris: Upset that she's gay?

Ashlee: Maybe more that she never told him, you know? I mean, that's a huge secret to keep from your kid. Don't you think? He's so upset. I just feel so badly for him is.

Remy: You called, what's up?

Olivia: Hi, you got a minute?

Remy: Sure, yeah.

Olivia: I spoke with Ava, and she's coming in for Jeffrey’s funeral.

Remy: Is she okay?

Olivia: We'll see. I wanted you to know. I didn't know if the two of you stayed in touch.

Remy: Sort of. Not really. I'll be glad to see her, though.

Olivia: You and me both.

Mallet: Where's Henry?

Marina: He's with Ashlee. They're at Company. She's watching him for a bit.

Marina: I want us to work this out.

Mallet: I do, too. You going to tell me about the murder?

Marina: I can't tell you anything. I didn't do it.

Mallet: You understand that I love you, right?

Marina: Of course, I do. I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe that. So what are we going to do?

Mallet: We hope for the truth.

Marina: Dinah.

Dinah: Yeah, yeah. I killed someone, Matt. I killed someone again.

Matt: To protect a baby. It's not the same thing.

Dinah: You know what?

Matt: It doesn't matter, Dinah. You did what you had to do. You had no choice.

Dinah: I have to tell someone.

Matt: Hang on a second. Hang on a second. The police think that Jeffrey did this, right?

Dinah: Yes, I can't do that to Reva.

Matt: Forget about Reva for a second. Her husband's dead. You can't change that, Dinah. As far as the police are concerned, this case is closed. Listen to me. Now, I talked to Shayne earlier and I know he wants to marry you. Do you love him? Because if you love him, say yes, and have a happy life.

Dinah: Matt, I don't deserve it.

Matt: Nobody deserves it. Nobody deserves it. But you're not going to throw it away on some bad guy, who was doing bad things. He deserved it. You protected a little baby. Who knows who else you saved? Everybody's got skeletons in their closet, Dinah. Bury it. You got to bury it.

Next on "Guiding Light"

Reva: We are here to celebrate the life of Jeffrey O’Neill.

Do you need anything?

Reva: Yeah, yeah, but he's not here. You got to say goodbye and I didn't!
