Previously on "Guiding Light"...

Mallet: So you were the one that called in the floater?

Remy: Yeah, I saw him out here, and I brought him on shore, but he was already gone.

Mallet: That's Edmund Winslow.

Natalia: Hi, Olivia, it's me.

Olivia: Really kind of hard here without you.

Jeffrey: It's all real.

Reva: Is it really over?

Jeffrey: I'm going to make sure it is.

Clayton: When have I ever paid late? You took my credit rating and then get back to me with an apology. Credit card company mix-up.

Remy: Is that about the investment?

Clayton: I was going to send a check, but I don't have the funds to.

Reva: Tell Mom yet?

Clayton: Can’t. Maybe it's a misunderstanding. I mean, it was an investment. I'll figure it out.

Remy: We'll figure it out, okay? I'm going to get you through this, Dad. And I know you can't count on much with me, but you can count on that.

Mallet: Here you go. Back on the detective track, and what do I get? Edmund Winslow, dead in the water.

Frank: Oh, look at that. You got him smiling.

Mallet: What do you think, Henry? Talk to me. Who did it, Henry, huh? Come on, help out your old man. Hmm?

Frank: Mallet, we don't know it's murder.

Mallet: Frank, there's no water in the lungs. And need I remind you of everybody in this town? Should I run down the whole list of everybody that hated that guy? I mean, think about it. You've got the entire Lewis family, Jeffrey.

Frank: Dinah.

Mallet: Dinah. Anyway, the list goes on and on. I should just walk out of here, march up the street, and interrogate everybody I run into.

Frank: Go for it. I'll watch him.

Mallet: That's all right. I'll take him with me. Marina will be back soon. She's at a meeting with Christina about a day care center. And I guess Edmund is not going anywhere, right? He's locked up in the freezer. Okay, buddy. Here you go. You're going to be my partner, all right, you and I. We're going to go look for some answers.

Shayne: Hey.

Josh: Hey.

Shayne: Identified the body. It's Edmund Winslow.

Josh: You okay?

Shayne: Yeah, I'm fine. It's just... I'm making his burial arrangements.

Josh: Are you sure that's something you want to do?

Shayne: I don't know. I mean, who else is going to do it? It would have meant a lot to Lara, so, yeah, I'm going to do it.

Josh: You want to go somewhere and talk this through?

Shayne: Not right now. I've got a meeting at the funeral home that I have to get to right now.

Josh: You want me to go with you?

Shayne: I want to do this one by myself, okay?

Josh: Okay.

Shayne: I'll call you later.

Josh: Okay.

Shayne: All right.

Reva: Hey, you know how much I love the spring? I mean, look at these colors. The flowers are the most beautiful colors. And do you know that dahlias come in every color but blue? And when you plant a garden, you have to paint it. You know, it's like painting a picture. You want to see it in your head first. I mean, I know that I'm a little late, because spring is nearly halfway over. But what the hell, right? I know Edmund’s dead. I know that. But is there anything I can do about that?

Jeffrey: No.

Reva: No. Okay. So I'm healthy. Our baby's healthy. And do you want to help me plant some petunias?

Jeffrey: No, actually. I've got to go to the police to see if they have determined a cause of death.

Reva: Oh, okay. Is Colin down for his nap?

Jeffrey: Sound asleep. Here you go.

Reva: Okay, thank you. Okay, then, you can go. I love you. Hey, it's me. Can you come over here?

Josh: I'm leaving right now.

Olivia: How is Emma? You get her off to school okay?

Natalia: Yeah. No, no problems at all. She was perfect, she was great. She loved being back in the house. She wants to stay.

Olivia: Oh, yeah.

Natalia: We talked a lot about that. I think she really understands why we don't all live here together like we used to.

Olivia: What did you tell her?

Natalia: I didn't want to tell her too much.

Olivia: Well, you know, because I was thinking about that while I was gone. And, you know, maybe Emma is right. Maybe we should move back in.

Remy: Where are you going?

Clayton: Home, to tell your mother. We've been married a long time. She's seen me through worse. All I ever wanted was to give her a great life.

Remy: You have, Dad. You will. We don't know the money's gone. I still have a few bucks in my savings account if you need the money, Dad.

Clayton: Son, this was my mistake. I'm the one who has to make it right, and I'm going to start by being honest with Felicia.

Remy: Mom will understand.

Clayton: That will make one of us. What was I thinking to invest every dime we had in... I just hope your mother can forgive me, because I sure as hell can't forgive myself.

Christina: How is that for timing? How are you?

Clayton: I've been better. See you both later.

Remy: Good luck, Dad.

Christina: What's going on?

Remy: He's the strongest person I know, and I've never seen him like this.

Natalia: The time that we spent in this house living together, the three of us, it was everything to me. It was the happiest, most stable family life I have ever had. But, you know, it's different now.

Olivia: Well, different-- different good or different not so good?

Natalia: You know, what if we're not ready? Because moving in now means "moving in," you know. It means telling Emma, and it means telling Rafe. It means a million different things. And, you know, what if we don't work?

Olivia: We do work.

Natalia: Okay, but something could go wrong, and...

Olivia: And what, we'll have to move out. Because, you know, that's a possibility whenever any two people decide they want to be together. You just have to take that risk. I don't really want to do that to Emma.

Natalia: Exactly. That's what I mean. I just don't think that we should jump into anything too soon or take really big chances.

Olivia: You know what? Wait. You take chances. You took a chance when you quit your waitressing job and came to work with me. You took a chance when you walked away from Frank. You took a chance when you opened the door when I knocked. You take chances. You're a lot older and braver than you give yourself credit for.

Natalia: You know, like, a couple months ago, I would have really argued with you that all my choices are very safe. But you're right. I took the biggest chance of my life when I told you.

Olivia: When you tell me what?

Natalia: I love you.

Olivia: And?

Natalia: And I haven't regretted it since.

Jeffrey: Hey, Frank.

Frank: Jeffrey.

Jeffrey: You the lead investigator on the Winslow case?

Frank: No, I'm the lead investigator in about 47 other cases right now. Mallet's your man. But if you're here to confess, I'll take your statement.

Jeffrey: Actually, I'm here on official business, Frank. You know, Edmund Winslow was an international figure, and my superiors in Washington... well, they want some answers.

Frank: Your superior wouldn't happen to be Reva, would it?

Jeffrey: No. No, it's a guy who's a few doors down from the president. You know, they asked me to coordinate the investigation, so...

Frank: You know I have to ask you this because it's my job, but I know you knew Edmund, and you probably would like to have Edmund dead and all that. But your superiors in Washington wouldn't think that's a conflict of interest?

Jeffrey: Since when does that matter in this town? Tell Mallet I stopped by, okay?

Mallet: Okay, Henry, so the Coroner said that Edmund’s body was in the water less than two hours, which isn't very long. And there was no evidence of ropes or anything used to weigh the body down. So this is what I'm saying, partner. I'm saying that whatever happened to Edmund, it would have had to happen fast. Right? Check over the notes, give me your opinion. You know what? I don't think there's any reason that I can't be a papa and a detective at the same time, right? Come with me. Hey, Shayne. You got a few minutes to talk?

Shayne: Sure. Sounds like fun.

Josh: You want some help?

Reva: Oh, no, no, no. I can do this, you know, it's the weeds. They... they infect and they degrade and they choke the life out of everything around them. And if you don't kill them first, they kill all the plants that you love so much.

Josh: Where's Jeffrey?

Reva: He went to town.

Josh: Well, I have to tell you I feel a little strange being here, especially since Jeffrey made it clear he doesn't want me around anymore.

Reva: Well, I was going to come to you, but Colin is down for his nap. And I'm gardening. Do you know that this is the perfect weather for gardening? It really is. I mean, this is the best weather. And this weather makes me feel grateful to be alive, doesn't it?

Josh: Well, yeah. I suppose it beats the hell out of lying on a slab in a Coroner's office like somebody else we know. Not that he didn't deserve it, of course.

Reva: Have you seen Shayne? Is he okay?

Josh: Yeah, he's handling Edmund’s remains.

Reva: Why?

Josh: I think he feels it's an obligation he has to Lara. I believe, though, that he's having a lot more trouble dealing with this than he's letting on.

Reva: Well, I have to go and see him and see if there is anything I can do to help.

Josh: You have to let me handle this, Reva. Live your life.

Reva: Shayne is my life. So is Marah. So are all my kids. And I'd do anything for them. I know you would, too. You know, you beat cancer once, and you feel lucky. You beat it again, and there's a reason for it. That's what I'm starting to feel, like there's a reason why I'm still around. And it's not just to sit inside the house with a baby while everybody else handles all the tough stuff.

Josh: You do what you have to do.

Reva: Right. Because you know what? Cancer... cancer makes you face things, even when you don't want to. It becomes second nature, you know, you have to act, and you have to be stronger than everyone else. And that doesn't change just because your white cell count is normal again.

Josh: You're a survivor.

Reva: I am a survivor. And there's a reason for that, too. I now know that there's a reason why I'm still around, and it's because my family needs me. Colin and Jeffrey and Shayne, too. And maybe you, too, just a little bit sometimes. You once called me "Indestructible," and I'm starting to feel that way. I don't want to live what life I have left with fear and regret.

Josh: You never have, Reva.

Reva: Oh, I know, I know, I know. But it's even different now. It's more different now. But it's a good thing, it really is. It's a great thing for all of us. (Colin crying) Oh, listen to that. Somebody's up. You want to come inside?

Josh: No, I don't think so, thank you-- unless there's something else you want to talk about.

Reva: No, I'm fine. Thanks for coming by.

Olivia: Edmund Winslow is dead?

Natalia: Yeah. I thought you knew about that. You weren't exactly friends with him, were you?

Olivia: No, he was a sad bastard, but I just saw him yesterday.

Natalia: Yesterday?

Olivia: Yeah, I got back early, and I was going come here, but there was an emergency at the Beacon and I went there to deal with it, and I looked out the window and I saw him talking to... do they think that he was murdered?

Natalia: Well, that's what it looks like. Who did you see talking to him?

Olivia: You know, I, um... it was probably nothing. I shouldn't say anything. I don't really know what to do.

Natalia: I think you should be honest, you know. It's when you start lying and hiding things that things get all messed up.

Olivia: How honest are we being?

Natalia: This is not lying. This is a little more complicated than that. I mean, if you know something about a crime...

Olivia: Yeah, you know what? Let me go deal with this. Will you be here for a while?

Natalia: Yeah, I won't go anywhere till you get back.

Olivia: Okay.

Mallet: So you were working on a project with Edmund, a memorial for his daughter?

Shayne: That's right.

Mallet: Sorry for bringing Henry. I wasn't expecting to work today.

Shayne: It's okay. Not a problem.

Mallet: So that means you got to know Edmund pretty well. Must have been hard to I.D. his body?

Shayne: Someone had to do it, right?

Mallet: Well, I'm sorry I had to ask you to do that. So how were things with Edmund at the end?

Shayne: Actually, we had had a falling out.

Mallet: How so?

Shayne: He did what he does, turned on me. It doesn't mean that I'm happy that he's gone, though. He was Lara’s father. He loved her very much, and that meant a lot to me, you know.

Mallet: Mm-hmm. Yeah, no, I understand. I mean, having a kid changes you. You know, I haven't been a father for very long, but all I do is think about this guy every day-- you know, what can I give him, what can I teach him? I hope that I grow up to be a man that he can look up to and someone he can trust and tell everything to. I haven't been a father for very long, but I'll tell you what, I can't imagine a day without him.

Shayne: I can understand. That's how Edmund felt about Lara.

Mallet: So why do you think he left town? Do you think it had something to do with this falling out?

Shayne: I guess that it did, yes.

Mallet: Where were you yesterday?

Shayne: I was flying back from Italy, a trip with my dad.

Mallet: Wow, Italy.

Shayne: Yeah.

Mallet: That's nice. Business or pleasure?

Shayne: Business.

Mallet: You all right there, buddy? You're teething, huh? Yeah? Teething is no fun, is it? What kind of business in Italy?

Shayne: Actually, I have a meeting at the funeral home. We can do this later, right?

Mallet: Sure.

Shayne: All right.

Mallet: Yeah.

(Knocking on door)

Father Ray: Hey.

Natalia: Hi.

Father Ray: I was dropping by, decided to drop in.

Natalia: Oh, yeah, come on in.

Father Ray: Someone promised to help with the annual fund-raiser, remember?

Natalia: Of course I remember, yes. Please, have a seat.

Father Ray: Natalia, a lot of people are hurting right now-- losing their jobs, their homes. A lot of people need help. I'm sorry, I don't want to impose.

Natalia: No, you're not. I really still want to help out.

Father Ray: Okay.

Natalia: I think we can probably get some rooms from the Beacon and some leftover food. Now I just have to clear everything with Olivia.

Father Ray: That's terrific. Thank you.

Natalia: Sure. Do you want some soda, or you want me to make some coffee?

Father Ray: How about a beer?

Natalia: You want to drink right now?

Father Ray: Any chance I get. Hey, Jesus turned water into wine. It was his first miracle. How's Frank doing? You guys work it out?

Natalia: Frank, he’s... Frank's wonderful. He really is. He's the best. But there's just a lot to take into consideration.

Father Ray: Of course.

Natalia: It's just not as simple as... it's just not simple.

Father Ray: Is there someone else involved? You know...

Natalia: Yes. I am... I have feelings for someone else.

Father Ray: Olivia?

Natalia: Yes, Olivia.

Remy: I haven't had a milkshake since I was a kid.

Christina: It's the quickest pick-me-up I know.

Remy: Just looking at you picks me up.

Christina: All right. I have to go meet with Marina. You can finish mine.

Remy: How's it going?

Buzz: Well, I can't complain. What? What?

Remy: Do you know somebody who wants to buy some diamonds?

Mallet: Hi, Josh, how's it going? Do you mind if I come in and ask you a few questions about Edmund Winslow?

Shayne: Mom?

Reva: Hi, sweetie.

Shayne: Hi.

Reva: I came here because I wanted to you know how much I love you. And if you feel the need to talk, I'm here.

Shayne: Mom, you don't need to worry about me, all right? I'm fine. All right?

Reva: I don't believe that. I don’t. I think you're feeling guilty. I think you're feeling so guilty about Lara that you think you have to mourn her father. But you have to let that go. Lara sounds like she was a wonderful person.

Shayne: She was.

Reva: But Edmund was not.

Shayne: I've already heard this speech once today, okay? I've heard it a hundred times today-- that the world is a better place without Edmund, that one? Yeah, I know he was a horrible person, a horrible man. But you know what? He was still a man. And like it or not, for two minutes there, him and I were friends.

Reva: So what are you going to do, huh? What are you going to do? Are you going to buy Edmund the best casket? Are you going to buy him the best burial plot? Are you going to lay flowers on his grave for all eternity?

Shayne: Right now, all I'm doing is getting him a casket.

Reva: No. No, no, no. You don't have to do that. I was at the Coroner's office, and I signed the papers. From now on, I'm in charge of Edmund’s arrangements.

Jeffrey: Reva?

Olivia: Hi.

Jeffrey: Hey.

Olivia: Hi.

Jeffrey: How was your trip?

Olivia: It was good. Ava is just great. She misses her dad.

Jeffrey: You know, I really have to get out there and visit her soon.

Olivia: Yeah. You know I want the best for you, right? I mean, I haven't always wanted that, but seeing what you and Reva and the new baby have, it's great. And I just... I know how precious it is to find someone that you truly love, and, after all the years of hardship, you finally think like you found something special and enduring and...

Jeffrey: Where is this coming from?

Olivia: I saw her with Edmund.

Jeffrey: What?

Olivia: Reva-- I saw Reva with Edmund, and it must have been right before he died.

Mallet: So, Josh, where were you yesterday?

Josh: Yesterday I was coming home from Italy with Shayne.

Mallet: Oh, Italy, nice. What were you doing over there?

Josh: A little father/son getaway kind of thing-- something you'll be doing with this guy one day.

Mallet: Oh, I hope so. I look forward to that. So Shayne says that was a business trip. (Baby fussing) Here you go.

Josh: Well, it was a business trip. I mean, I had business while I was there. I was just using that as an excuse to be away with my boy.

Mallet: So when did you realize that Edmund was back in Springfield-- or did you? Did you know he was back in Springfield?

Josh: No, no, I didn’t. I would have called the police if I did.

Mallet: Why? I mean, did you feel like he was a threat to you?

Josh: He was a threat to everyone.

Shayne: Why are you doing this?

Reva: Because it's time, Shayne, to let this go, to move on with your life. We all know how much you loved Lara. We know that. But you need to find happiness somewhere else. Find happiness with Dinah. Find a life for yourself. Find it! You can't do it this way!

Shayne: What about your life? You seem to be taking care of this when you should be taking care of this little guy at home right now. You should be taking care of yourself. You just got out of the hospital, Mom!

Reva: I can't believe it.

Shayne: What are you talking about?

Reva: I got the results back, my test results back. I am free and clear. I don't have cancer. I'm free and clear.

Shayne: Why didn't you call me?

Reva: I'm sorry!

Shayne: Why am I just now finding out? No, I can't believe this. No?

Reva: Yeah, well, you need to believe it. You need to believe it. You do. So if you've been secretly planning a way to find a casket for me, you have to stop that now.

Shayne: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. You knock that off. Don't say that. You're going to be okay? (Laughter)

Buzz: Okay, so let me get this straight. You want me to find you somebody shady that you can trust.

Remy: Pretty much, pretty much. I was at a poker game, and I won big.

Buzz: And somebody happened to have diamonds in their pocket?

Remy: Yeah! Yes, yes. And I can't tell you how much they're worth, and it's not like I can take them to the local jeweler, right? So...

Buzz: So... well, actually, I happen to have been married to a former diamond thief, but she didn't have patience to teach me much about it.

Remy: But she had some contacts, right?

Buzz: One or two names, yes. But, Remy, I'm not sure I would be doing you a favor.

Remy: Come on.

Natalia: I didn't see this coming, you know, the feelings that I have for...

Father Ray: Olivia.

Natalia: All I know is that they're real.

Father Ray: Natalia, there's nothing wrong with what you're feeling. I understand the connection. She's got Gus' heart. You care about her daughter. But the church is clear on this matter. For you to act on these feelings would be...

Natalia: It's a sin? But God is love, right? Love?

Father Ray: God gave them over shameful lust. Even their women exchange natural relations for unnatural ones, "Romans" 126 to 127. The scriptures say...

Natalia: I know what they say. But I don't feel in my heart that what I'm feeling is wrong.

Father Ray: I can offer you support. I can give you guidance. The church has counselors.

Natalia: But this is not... this is not a confession, Father. I have thought about this, and I have prayed and prayed about it. And I am still the same person, no matter who I love. I want to help you with your church charities, and I want to still go to mass every Sunday. My faith in God is still as strong as it was before any of this happened. I still believe in him and his teachings.

Father Ray: Not all of them.

Natalia: I love Olivia, and I love my faith. And I don't see why I have to choose between them.

Father Ray: The bible is open to interpretation, but the church believes...

Natalia: I understand. But the bible also says test all things and hold fast to that which is good.

Jeffrey: I'm sorry about the mess.

Olivia: It's okay.

Jeffrey: So are you sure it was Reva?

Olivia: I'm positive. I was in my office on the phone, and I looked out the window, and it was Reva and Edmund arguing across the lake. And I didn't think anything of it. And then I saw the paper, and...

Jeffrey: You know, I'm sure that, you know, there's an explanation.

Olivia: I'm sure there is. I just... I thought you should know, and, you know, whatever you want to do about it, it's up to you.

Jeffrey: Okay. Well, thank you. Hey, did I tell you that Reva got her test results back? No more cancer.

Olivia: That's great!

Jeffrey: Yeah. It's been a tough year for her.

Olivia: Yeah.

Jeffrey: And for you. But now you're both healthy and happy. You are happy?

Olivia: I am. I think I am. I don't have everything you have yet, but I got a shot. No questions.

Jeffrey: I think Ava would be happy to see us like this.

Olivia: I think she would, too.

Olivia: Okay, so we'll leave work by 3:00, pick up Emma, maybe get a pizza?

Natalia: Yeah, that sounds good. Here's some water.

Olivia: Thank you.

Natalia: Listen, right after you left, Father Ray stopped by, and I sort of told him.

Olivia: About us?

Natalia: Mm-hmm.

Olivia: Huh.

Natalia: He asked me about Frank, and I couldn't lie to him, not to a priest. But, you know, after he left, I was praying and I was thinking about stuff, and...

Olivia: You don't want me to move in.

Natalia: I still love the idea of living here with you and Emma, I really do. But I don't know if it's something that I should do right now, you know, because living together in that way...

Olivia: Is a sin? Is that what Father Ray said that it was?

Natalia: I don't think that we're a sin. It's really hard to explain. It's just... it's a big step, you know. It would be the same thing if it was Gus or anyone else.

Olivia: Would it? Would it really be the same?

Natalia: Yeah, yes. I don't want you to think that my feelings for you have changed in any way, because that's not true. It's just... I take this very seriously, and I want to do it right.

Olivia: Okay. Okay.

Natalia: Okay.

Mallet: Aw, jeez, Frank, couldn't I have eased back into this job, you know, with something simple, like... I don't know, home invasion, carjacking.

Frank: You haven't solved this case yet?

Mallet: What is all this? What's this?

Frank: Well, Edmund Winslow isn't the only stiff in the morgue, you know?

Mallet: These are more cases?

Frank: You can put them on the back burner. Hey, buddy.

Mallet: Well, I hope your daughter doesn't expect me to be home any time soon-- like, I don't know, this year.

Frank: Hey, welcome back, Detective.

Buzz: Okay. All right, I got the name. I got a name. I got one name here. You can probably beat this guy up, but he's carrying, guaranteed, and someone has got his back, okay?

Remy: Okay.

Buzz: So I want you to be safe. Don't play with these guys. They'll kill you.

Remy: I'll be careful.

Buzz: You'll be careful? You promise.

Remy: I promise, I promise.

Buzz: I can't afford to lose you. The world can't afford to lose you.

Remy: I will be careful. Thank you, thank you. It's for a good cause, Buzz.

Christina: 911? 911?

Remy: Is there an emergency, ma'am?

Christina: Well, I just don't have anyone to take me to dinner.

Remy: Oh, well, well, well. Well, how about we light some candles?

Christina: Mm-hmm?

Remy: And we play some music.

Christina: Uh-huh.

Remy: And we eat in, you and me, no distractions.

Christina: All right.

Everywhere you go so will I...

Shayne: What the... what are you doing?

Josh: Sorry. Didn't mean to startle you. Front office gave me a key.

Shayne: You know, you and Mom should have been detectives, because first she shows up at the funeral home, and now, here you are, sitting on my...

Josh: Mallet stopped by and asked me a few questions about Edmund.

Shayne: Yeah, me, too.

Josh: I know. There were discrepancies in our stories. So we have to decide what happened in Italy, why we were there, what we did, so we won't have any problems going forward.

Reva: Okay, little man, you want a bottle? Oh, look who beat us home. It's Daddy. So how did it go? Did you find out anything at the police station? What?

Jeffrey: You were with Edmund Winslow yesterday right before he died.

Coming up on "Guiding Light"...

Mallet: You and Reva mind if I ask a few questions?

Natalia: I screwed up, and you tell me it's okay right in front of another employee. I can't work here.

Phillip: James, I'm here at the bank trying to buy you a little bit of time before this all goes public.

Jeffrey: We can control the situation, but it's going to be hard to stay one step ahead of the police.

Reva: Why don't you just come out and ask me: Did I kill Edmund Winslow?
