Reva: I'm cancer-free.

Shayne: I'm asking you why you can't stay away from this baby. Is it Mallet?

Dinah: Shut up! Shut up!

Shayne: Dinah, I love you.

Reva: I started thinking about how close I was to dying, you know, and...

Jeffrey: Everything's going to be all right now. All of our worries are over.

Remy: Yeah. Yeah, found... I found a body floating in the river. It's not responding to any C.P.R. I'm in the park off of Main Street.

Mallet: Hey, Remy.

Remy: Hey.

Mallet: So you were the one that called in the floater?

Remy: Yeah. Yeah, I saw him out here, and I brought him on shore. I tried C.P.R. for a while, but he was already gone.

Mallet: It's Edmund Winslow.

Remy: Yeah, no kidding.

Mallet: Did you see anyone else in the vicinity?

Remy: I was hanging out in the park with Christina. Nobody was around. She had to leave, and I went for a walk.

Mallet: How long were you gone?

Remy: Less than an hour. It's a cold day for a swim.

Mallet: Yeah. Maybe he thought he'd be okay wearing all of his clothes.

Reva: Oh, what, were you watching me sleep?

Jeffrey: Why, is that weird?

Reva: Well, that would depend on why you were watching.

Jeffrey: I just want to make sure you're okay.

Reva: I'm just tired. Sorry I passed out on you like that.

Jeffrey: Go ahead, sleep. It's been a long day. You want to move to the bedroom?

Reva: No, I actually need to get up, because, you know, I haven't told anybody yet that I'm cancer-free. I need to call Pop, I need to call the kids, I should probably tell Josh.

Jeffrey: Oh, Josh knows.

Reva: How would he know?

Jeffrey: Well, he was here when you went out for your walk with Colin.

Reva: Why didn't you tell me?

Jeffrey: Well, we thought you were inside. Besides, he didn't want to bother you.

Reva: Why did he stop by?

Jeffrey: It's nothing.

Reva: What's nothing?

Jeffrey: Reva, I don't want you to worry.

Reva: Josh stopped by and you didn't tell me. Why didn't you tell me?

Jeffrey: This came up when you were waiting for your test results.

Reva: What?

Jeffrey: And I didn't want you to worry or to be more afraid.

Reva: What came up?

Jeffrey: Reva, it's Edmund. Edmund's out there somewhere.

Reva: Out there?

Jeffrey: The facility where he was locked up, he’s not there anymore.

Reva: He broke out?

Jeffrey: Josh and Shayne went to go check on him. When they got there, no more Edmund. We don't know where he is now. I should have told you sooner. You were out there walking around with Colin, for God's sake.

Reva: We need to go see Josh.

Jeffrey: Look, Reva, Reva, I know this is a shock, but we're going to work this out, okay?

Reva: Do you have any idea where he might be right now?

Jeffrey: Well, when I talked to him, he was on his way to the police.

Reva: Okay.

Jeffrey: But he's going to be fine, okay? Reva, I think you need to stay here.

Reva: No. No, no, no. You know what? Josh was right about Edmund, and he tried to warn us.

Jeffrey: We didn't know.

Reva: Well, I need to see him.

Shayne: I'm so sorry.

Reva: Joshua? So Jeffrey said he told you the news about my test results.

Josh: Yeah. It's good news, great news. The best we've had in a long time.

Reva: Thank you.

Josh: I mean, with everything that's happened, it's a blessing, it really is. Congratulations. Hi.

Jeffrey: Hey, Josh.

Josh: Hey. We were just talking about Reva’s news.

Reva: Yeah, it's just funny, you know? You build up to this big moment, this moment that's going to tell you how you're going to live the rest of your life, and then suddenly you're playing miniature golf, and the phone rings, and there it is.

Josh: Just like that.

Reva: Just like that.

Josh: Yeah.

Reva: I'm going to live.

Josh: The kids... the kids, they're going to be thrilled. You know how much they worry about you.

Reva: Yeah. Yeah, I don't want them to worry.

Josh: Good luck with that.

Reva: Still I have to go and be tested every... what is it, three months, I guess, because they don't call it remission until it's been a year, and that's still a long way off.

Josh: You'll get there.

Jeffrey: You're damn right she will.

Josh: Your son Colin is a lucky kid.

Reva: And I'm going to make sure he knows it.

Josh: I'm sure you will. And once again it's been proven beyond a shadow a doubt-- Reva Shayne is indestructible. And the world's a better place for it.

Reva: Yeah. Well, sometimes.

Jeffrey: I told Reva about Edmund.

Josh: Good. He's not going to hurt anybody. Not this time. I promise you that.

Reva: I'm sorry, Joshua.

Josh: For what?

Reva: You know, because people doubted you when you tried to warn us about Edmund, and I'm sure it made you feel like you were going crazy, but you were right. You were right all along about him.

Josh: Lucky guess, that's all. I'm just glad everyone's safe. It's all going to be okay now, I'm sure of that.

Mallet: All right, Davis, Davis, I'm going to need the names of all the guests currently staying at the Beacon, especially the rooms with water views, all right? All right.

Remy: Hey, if I'm done here, can I take off? Christina's waiting for me, and...

Mallet: I really need you to hang around for a few more minutes. It'd be very helpful.

Remy: I don't have any more answers for you. I can come down to the station.

Mallet: I know, but just a few more minutes, okay? All right, thanks, man. Guys, don't mess with the body until Forensics is done, all right? Thanks.

Ernie: Hey, you doing this for free now, Boudreau?

Remy: What's up, Ernie?

Ernie: Job's not the same without you.

Remy: Thanks, man.

Ernie: You take it easy.

Remy: You, too.

Mallet: Hey, man, I heard about the cutbacks. They let you go?

Remy: You could say that.

Mallet: You looking for work?

Remy: Well, I sent off my application to every E.M.S. squad in the county. Something will pop up.

Mallet: Spot open on the squad.

Remy: S.P.D.?

Mallet: S.P.D., yeah. Marina left the force, Wolfe gave me my job back, I'm a detective again. Why not? I mean, I know you've turned it down before, but a job's a job, and hey, I know how bills pile up.

Remy: Yeah.

Mallet: Yeah? Well, think about it. I mean, I can't make any promises, but it's worth a shot.

Remy: Thanks, man.

Mallet: Yeah. All right, I'll be back in a few minutes to get your final statement, all right?

Remy: Okay.

Mallet: Come on, guys. Hurry it up, all right? It's getting dark. We've got to get this done. Let's go. Did you guys check out that other truck that's been...

Remy: Hey, Mallet?

Mallet: Okay, because he'll come down through here, and then we'll finish up with it here. Sound good?

Josh: So you going to go see Shayne, tell him your good news? I should warn you in advance, though, he's a little freaked out because of this whole Edmund business. I mean, I think he feels guilty, and...

Reva: When was the last time you slept?

Josh: What, do I look that bad?

Reva: No, it's not that. It's just that I know you weren't sleeping well even before you knew Edmund was out, and I'm sure that this little bit of information hasn't changed that.

Josh: I got a couple of hours on the plane each way.

Reva: Liar. I happen to know you've never been able to sleep on a plane.

Josh: I'm working on it, okay? You don't have to worry about me.

Jeffrey: Fine. Well, until this Edmund situation is cleared up, we probably should come up with a plan of attack, you know, to keep you protected.

Reva: What does that mean?

Jeffrey: Well, it means that we don't really know what could happen, and it's probably not a good idea for you to be walking around alone too much.

Reva: So what are you saying, that I lock myself up in the house? No, I'm not going to do that.

Josh: Reva, it won't be for long.

Reva: No, I'm not going to do it. You can follow me around. You can. You can hire guards, you can do whatever you need to do to feel you're protecting me. But I am not going to stop living my life. Edmund has disrupted us enough. I'm done with it.

Jeffrey: I know how you feel.

Reva: I beat cancer. I beat it again. We have our little boy home with us. I want us to live a normal life.

Jeffrey: I want that, too.

Reva: Okay. If we start living our lives in fear of Edmund, then he wins. He gets exactly what he's always wanted.

Josh: I think she's right.

Jeffrey: You were the one who was so gung-ho about following Edmund around and getting to him before he got to us.

Josh: I know. I think she's right. I think it's time for us to start living our lives.

Shayne: That was so stupid. I know that you're just trying to help me.

Dinah: You believe that now?

Shayne: Hey, I always believed that. It's just that this is... this is really... it's really hard, you know?

Dinah: I know. I know it is. I mean, Henry...

Shayne: Yeah. Yeah, Henry. I see him, I...

Dinah: You think of Lara and all the things you could have had with her.

Shayne: Yes. No, wait. No, no, not like that.

Dinah: I know. I'm not jealous, if that's what you're worried about.

Shayne: No, no. It's just when I see him, all these things go through my head. A ton of stuff. Stuff I can't even explain.

Dinah: Have you changed your mind about telling Marina and Mallet?

Shayne: No. It's not making it any easier. You know, I just... I want what's best for Henry, you know?

Dinah: And you don't want to be a part of it?

Shayne: No. I don't know. I... I do know one thing-- what's best for me is you. I know that you've got my back. That means everything to me.

Dinah: Good. You know, I don't think you're all wrong. I mean, I guess I wouldn't be pushing so hard if Henry was adopted by strangers. But I didn't do any of this because I am still in love with Mallet. You know, I got that boy a great home, a safe home, and I don't know, I guess I feel connected.

Shayne: Of course. I mean, yeah, you should.

Dinah: But this is your decision, your decision, and I'm behind you 100%.

Shayne: Big shift, change. No, huge. What happened?

Dinah: I realized if I love you, I have to trust that you'll always do the right thing for yourself. Because what we have is too valuable to lose.

Shayne: Come here. (Phone rings)

Dinah: Hello?

Mallet: Hey, Dinah? Hey, listen, it's Mallet. I'm sorry to bother you.

Dinah: It's fine. What's up?

Mallet: I just wanted to call you before you heard from somebody else. Listen, I'm down by the river, and earlier today there was a body found floating in the water.

Dinah: I don't understand what you're saying.

Mallet: Well, that body belonged to Edmund Winslow.

Dinah: Yeah. Thanks for the call. I appreciate it.

Mallet: Okay, now, listen. We don't know anything about how this happened, okay, so let's not jump to conclusions or make any assumptions about Edmund.

Dinah: Look, I need to go. I do appreciate your phone call, though. Thank you.

Mallet: Dinah?

Dinah: Take care.

Shayne: Hmm. Who was that?

Dinah: Mallet.

Shayne: What's wrong?

Dinah: He was at the park. He's working.

Shayne: And what's going on?

Dinah: Edmund's dead.

Shayne: What did you just say?

Dinah: They found him in the river, floating.

Shayne: What, he drowned?

Dinah: I don't know.

Shayne: But when did they find him?

Dinah: I don't know.

Shayne: Well, what did they say? Was it an accident, was it...

Dinah: No information. I don't know. He told me not to jump to conclusions, though.

Shayne: Edmund's dead? I don't even know what to say about that. I don't even know how to react.

Dinah: I'm sure you're confused. I'm processing it myself.

Shayne: He's gone.

Dinah: Yes. But Shayne, I think it might be a good thing..

Shayne: A good thing?

Dinah: Yeah, look at yourself. When you came back to town, when you thought he was missing, you... you thought he was a threat. That's because he was a threat. No matter what he said or did, it was always going to be a threat to us. He was unpredictable, and he was dangerous. And he had a very big grudge against you. Everybody knew that. This whole town, and our lives, I think, will be much better off without him. I believe that.

Mallet: Thanks for sticking around. I know you had somewhere to go.

Remy: That's okay.

Mallet: Hey, that's Edmund’s trench coat.

Remy: Yeah. Yeah, I forgot I took it off when I gave him C.P.R.

Mallet: Oh. I'm going to have to bag that for evidence.

Remy: Right, right.

Mallet: So did you remember anything else while you were hanging around?

Remy: Sorry, no. Not really.

Mallet: What about during your picnic with Christina? I mean, did you notice anybody walking by?

Remy: No. Well, actually, we did hear some voices.

Mallet: When?

Remy: We were kissing. We were kissing, and it sounded like two people, but we never saw them.

Mallet: How long ago was this?

Remy: About an hour and a half before I saw the body.

Mallet: What kind of voices, would you say?

Remy: It was... one was definitely male, but I can't say much more than that. Like I said, we heard them coming, and we just grabbed our stuff and took off.

Mallet: Would you say they were angry voices?

Remy: I'm not sure.

Mallet: Would Christina remember anything more clearly?

Remy: I doubt it, but I can have her call you.

Mallet: Yeah, thanks. That would be helpful.

Remy: Yeah. You're treating this like it's not an accident.

Mallet: Well, I'm not there yet, but... it's kind of hard to come up with anybody else, right, that was liked less than Edmund Winslow.

Remy: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

Mallet: Anyway, I've got to get back to the medical examiner. Have Christina stop by and see me, or have her call me, okay?

Remy: You got it.

Mallet: You okay with all this?

Remy: It's not my first time, man.

Mallet: I know, but a dead body is still a dead body.

Remy: I'm cool.

Mallet: Okay. All right. Well, let's look into that job, okay? We could use a guy like you back on the force.

Remy: Thank you, man.

Mallet: All right. See you.

Reva: Is something wrong with Shayne?

Josh: No, not Shayne. Edmund.

Jeffrey: What about him?

Josh: He's dead.

Jeffrey: What? What are you talking about?

Josh: They found his body floating in the river.

Jeffrey: Where? Where did they find him? How long was he there?

Josh: I don't know.

Jeffrey: Well, do they know how he died? Was it an accident?

Josh: Shayne didn't say.

Jeffrey: Is his body still there, or did they take it to the morgue already?

Josh: Jeffrey, I don't know. I don't know. It's a third person thing. Mallet called Dinah, Dinah called Shayne, he called me.

Reva: Well, how did he sound?

Josh: What?

Reva: Shayne, Shayne. How did he sound?

Josh: Like he's in shock.

Jeffrey: It's going to be okay.

Reva: I want to go and talk to him.

Josh: No. He said he wants to be alone. He doesn't want us over there.

Jeffrey: It's going to be okay. I'm going to go check out this investigation. Knowing Edmund, it's going to be complicated.

Josh: Meaning what? I mean, why would any of us want to get involved in this investigation? You heard what Reva said before about Edmund... Edmund messing up our lives.

Reva: You know what? I've got to go. I forgot. The babysitter said that Colin didn't have that little blanket, the one that he likes so much. And he'll never sleep without it. He won’t. So I'm just going to walk and see if I can find it. I think we left it in the park.

Jeffrey: Okay, okay, listen. Calm down. I'll go with you.

Reva: No, no, no. You just... Edmund’s not out there anymore, okay? So we're safe, we're safe, right? I'll be back. Won't take me long.

Mallet: How long was the body in the water?

M.E: Not too long. First glance I'd say one or two hours.

Mallet: So it could have been Edmund’s voice that they heard.

M.E: Fresh one. Not too many secrets with this.

Mallet: I hope so. We'll see. All right, guys, ready to load this body out of here?

Remy: I am so sorry.

Christine: Why would you possibly be sorry? It's not like you left me waiting for 48 minutes and 29... 30... 31 seconds.

Remy: That's an accurate clock.

Christine: How's yours?

Remy: Wet.

Christine: Did you jump in a puddle?

Remy: Actually, it was a river. I saw a body in there and I went in after it. I thought I could save him, but it was too late. He was already gone. It was Edmund Winslow.

Christine: Edmund? Shayne's girlfriend, the one who died, her father?

Remy: That's the guy, yeah.

Christine: That must have been awful for you.

Remy: Yeah, well, it's no big deal. It's what I do for a living. People die in the back of ambulances all the time. It's part of the job.

Christine: Yeah, you weren't on the job.

Remy: I... I thought I could save him, you know? I... I thought maybe it wasn't lost.

Christine: You did everything you could.

Remy: Yeah.

Christine: Okay, this is soaking wet. Come on.

Remy: Okay.

Christine: All right. I know you must have a can of soup around here, so we're just going to heat that up, and then you're going to get in the shower.

Remy: The cops are going to want to talk to you.

Christine: To me?

Remy: Yeah, Edmund had a lot of enemies.

Christine: Do you think someone killed him?

Remy: Mallet's not saying, but I told him we did hear voices.

Christine: You think that was Edmund?

Remy: I don't know. What did you hear?

Christine: I don't know. You know what? We’re going to worry about that later. Right now you need to get in that shower and heat it up real good, and I... just stay in there for a while, okay?

Remy: Do I have to go into it myself?

Christine: I am making soup, all right? So you go.

Remy: Hey, you make it better.

Christine: What?

Remy: Whatever's going on out there, you make it better. You always do.

Shayne: I need to go see my parents. I'm surprised my father hasn't marched over here already. They've got to be freaking out.

Dinah: Are you?

Shayne: Why, does it look like I'm freaking out?

Dinah: I don't know. I really can't tell what you're doing right now.

Shayne: Well, right now I'm worried.

Dinah: About?

Shayne: About you.

Dinah: Me?

Shayne: Yeah, you. Hey, look at me. We can say, "Yeah, good, Edmund’s dead," but it's not that simple.

Dinah: It can be.

Shayne: Didn't you love this guy once?

Dinah: That was a million years ago. I don't feel any of that anymore.

Shayne: But you're really okay with all this. Like, you... this is good with you.

Dinah: You know what? I know that it sounds cold, and I thought I wanted to spend my life with this person, but he did horrible things over and over again. And in the end, you were his primary target. He blamed you for Lara’s death. And I don't know what I would do if something happened to you. Look, for all we know, Edmund hit his head and drowned in the river, and it was a tragic accident. I am ready to chalk that up to a mishap and move on, and we never have to talk about it again.

Shayne: We never have to talk about it again? You think I killed him.

Dinah: I was not asking you that. I did not think that.

Shayne: For the record, I didn't see Edmund today. It wasn't me.

Dinah: If it was, I don't think I would care. As long as he's gone, and as long as I still have you.

Jeffrey: You didn't go to the cops after you left the house, did you?

Josh: No, I didn’t.

Jeffrey: Where did you go?

Josh: Where do you think I went?

Jeffrey: Looking for Edmund.

Josh: Didn't find him.

Jeffrey: If you say so.

Josh: And you and Reva, you were both together this whole time?

Jeffrey: That's right.

Josh: Neither of you went anywhere?

Jeffrey: Where would we go?

Josh: Just checking.

Jeffrey: So this is over now, right?

Josh: You think so?

Jeffrey: No need for you to be parked across the street from the house anymore, coming up with excuses to be next to Reva.

Josh: Coming up with excuses? That's what you call it?

Jeffrey: Edmund's gone now, Josh. I appreciate all the effort you made to help us, even though I didn't always agree with the methods.

Josh: Thank you.

Jeffrey: I am sorry. I should have listened to you about Edmund sooner.

Josh: I don't care about that.

Jeffrey: So we're good.

Josh: We're good. In fact, next time a job comes up for Lewis out of town, I might take it, go away for a little while.

Jeffrey: That might be a good idea.

Josh: Take care of Reva. She's going to need it.

Dinah: I really should just let you go to your parents alone.

Shayne: No. I want you to come with me.

Dinah: Why?

Shayne: Why?

Dinah: Yes.

Shayne: Because we're in this together. Whatever happens from here on out, it's you and me.

Dinah: No matter what?

Shayne: No matter what.

Dinah: I've been waiting to hear that a long time.

Shayne: Yeah?

Dinah: Yeah.

Shayne: What you told me earlier about with Edmund, it means a lot to me.

Dinah: Which part?

Shayne: That if it was me, that that would be okay. It means a lot to know I have somebody like that in my life. I want you to know that that's completely reciprocated.

(Phone rings)

Shayne: Sorry. Hello? Yeah, this is Shayne. Yeah, I can do that. No, I can do it. Yeah, I'll be right there. All right.

Dinah: What's up?

Shayne: I need you to come with me. Let's go.

Remy: You, my darling, are going to make an amazing doctor.

Christine: Because I know how to heat up soup from a can?

Remy: Because you know how to take care of people.

Christine: Somehow that's not on the med school application.

Remy: You know you're going, right? Hmm? To med school?

Christine: Mm-hmm.

Remy: I'm serious.

Christine: I know. Everything's going to work out.

Remy: When did you get all Zen?

Christine: Okay, the day that I took the MCATs the first time, all I was thinking about was the test and becoming a doctor. And what happened?

Remy: You failed horribly, miserably.

Christine: And what else happened on that day?

Remy: You met me.

Christine: Exactly. And then we got married, and my life took on a whole new course.

Remy: Yeah. Yeah, I'm sorry about that.

Christine: Who's complaining? Look, I still want med school, and I am going to work damn hard to get it. But I've learned something. I'm not always in control. And sometimes the best things just fall into your lap.

Remy: I think you're right.

Mallet: Hey, Shayne, thanks for coming in, man. I'm sorry I had to ask you to do this.

Shayne: It's all right, you know? Who else are you going to ask? I'm the closest thing he had to family.

Mallet: Ready?

Shayne: Ready. (Knocking on door)

Mallet: Shayne?

Shayne: Yeah?

Mallet: I've got to get you to make a verbal I.D.

Shayne: Oh, right. Yes. That's Edmund Winslow.

Mallet: Okay, thank you.

Shayne: Hang on. Hold on a second. Can I... can I hang out here for a minute?

Mallet: Sure. Take as long as you need.

Shayne: Thanks.

Dinah: Hey.

Mallet: Hey.

Dinah: Hi.

Mallet: How are you doing?

Dinah: I'm okay. I'm just waiting for Shayne.

Mallet: Yeah, he'll be out in a few minutes. It all went fine.

Dinah: Good. Good. I just... I wanted to ask you a question.

M.E: Detective, can I speak to you for a minute?

Mallet: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Come in. Hold that thought.

Dinah: Sure.

Maria: So what you got? You got any preliminary findings?

M.E: Well, my report will be pending a full autopsy, of course.

Mallet: Right, right. Well, what about some initial impressions?

M.E: Well, with floaters, I like to look at the lungs.

Mallet: Right, and?

M.E: Well, Mr. Winslow didn't have any liquid in his lungs, which means that he was...

Mallet: Dead before he hit the water.

M.E: Right.

Reva: Hi. I couldn't find that blanket. I couldn't find it anywhere. I went down to the river, and I still couldn't find it.

Jeffrey: The river?

Reva: Yeah.

Jeffrey: Where?

Reva: Where Edmund... they found Edmund. I saw them carrying his body away.

Jeffrey: Why did you go there?

Reva: Because I had to go. I had to see it for myself, because it didn't seem real to me. It just... I had to make sure that it was real.

Jeffrey: And now?

Reva: It's real. He is dead.

Jeffrey: It's all real, Reva. Our life, our baby, and your health, it's all real.

Reva: Is it? Is it over? I mean, is it really over?

Jeffrey: I'm going to make sure it is.

Coming up on “Guiding Light,”

Remy: The investment, we’ll figure it out okay? I know you can’t count on much with me but you can count on that.

Frank: We don’t know it’s murder.

Mallet: Shayne, you got a few minutes to talk?

Shayne: Sure.

Reva: Shayne is my life. So are all my kids and I would do anything for them and I know you would too.

Josh: You have to let me handle this Reva.
