Phillip: Our reunion.
Beth: I guess they want to make sure that the prom king and queen are going to be there.
Alan: Find Grady Foley and convince him that I will make his life miserable if he testifies against me.
(Knock on door)
Grady: What are you doing here?
Lizzie: I came to see you. We need to make a deal. I'm serious.
Grady: Oh. All of a sudden I've become very popular. A few days ago, no one wanted to talk to o . And now, Buzz wants to make a deal with me, Doris Wolfe wants to make a deal with me, and you want to make a deal with me.
Lizzie: What kind of deal does Doris Wolfe want to make?
Grady: You know, if you were, wise you wouldn't be here.
Lizzie: What's she offering?
Grady: A chance to save this town from Alan Spaulding, be a hero.
Lizzie: I'm offering the chance to keep your arms attached to your body.
Grady: (Laughing) Are you going to come here and rip them off me?
Lizzie: No, I'm not. But that man, Alan Spaulding, who you think you're going to take down-- you are aware that he has a lot more power than Doris Wolfe. He doesn't have to worry about right or wrong, and he will hire someone just like you to come after you.
Phillip: You were so innocent. How do I make you trust me again. (sighs)
Mindy: All right, come here . Let's find Dave Carter. Hey, here he is. Look! Look at him, he's in uniform, his football uniform. Oh, look at his hair. Come on.
Beth: (Laughing)
Mindy: Oh, and look what he wrote. Now, I didn't want to tell you this before, I didn't want to make you jealous, but he did write, "Mindy, you're really cute, and I'm sorry we didn't get together." (Laughing)
Beth: (Laughing)
Mindy: What? What? He was sweet.
Beth: He wrote the same thing in my yearbook. (Laughing)
Mindy: Oh, he did not. No! No! Well, I didn't think it was all that cute, to be honest with you. (Laughter)
Beth: Oh, I love you. I love you.
Mindy: Oh, I'm just glad to see you smile. So, people are talking about Phillip, if he's going to be there.
Beth: Yeah. Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing.
Mindy: Is he okay?
Beth: I don't know. I mean, he seems like the old Phillip. It's been a big adjustment for all of us; I mean, some... some more than others.
Mindy: Are you okay?
Beth: (Sniffles) I'm fine. I'm just... I'm just worried about other people.
Buzz: You're telling me that the man who killed your brother is going to walk out of here a free man?
Frank: The man's bail was posted. I don't make the rules, just follow them, Pop.
Buzz: Give me your gun. Give me your gun. Come on, Frank, if you're not going..... if he's not going to pay for this... someone's not going to take care of Alan, I am!
Frank: Sit down! You're making things worse for me.
Buzz: They can't be any worse, Frank!
Frank: If you shoot Alan, you could go to jail. And if you don't let go of this anger, you're going to have another heart attack that you may not survive. Stop making things worse for us.
Buzz: I'm doing this for the rest of us.
Frank: We don't want you to!
Buzz: Alan. Alan!
Frank: Pop...!
Buzz: Enjoy the fresh air, because the next time you're back in one of those cages, it's going to be for your life.
Alan: You know, something, Buzz, you should have taken Company when I offered it to you at Coop's funeral. You could get on with your life! Don't start a war with me, because if you do, you won't win.
Buzz: I don't need to go in, I just need you to pay. Grady's going to make that happen.
Alan: I'm sure Mr. Foley's testimony won't even see the light of day.
Frank: Dad!
Lizzie: I'm sorry. Did you hear what I just said? My grandfather is going to send someone to kill you.
Grady: Ooh, scary! You can't send someone like me to kill someone like me, because I'll be able to figure out everything he is going to do.
Lizzie: Oh, okay. Well, I guess he'll have to send ten people.
Grady: I think I'll take that chance, because when I finish talking about Alan Spaulding, there is going to be so much information on him, it's going to bury him. No one is ever going to see or hear from him again. You, little lady, will have to fight your own battles without the protection of your big, bad grandpa.
Lizzie: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Okay, I don't think you understand, ok? I'm not just trying to save him for him. No, listen. I really need him. My kidnapper’s still out there. He is still trying to get me, and you have no idea how terrified I was when I was held captive. I need someone here to help keep me safe. So, just... please help me. Please. My grandfather is the only person that makes me feel secure.
Grady: Your grandpa makes you feel secure?
Lizzie: Yes.
Grady: That's too bad.
Billy: Where's my little princesses
Mindy: Oh! Daddy!
Billy: Oh! Hey, wait a minute here! You two got so skinny and I got so fat.
Mindy: Oh, it just makes hugging you, more like a teddy bear.
Billy: Oh, well, you know, it's a good thing your high school called this reunion, because it's not like you would come and visit me.
Mindy: Well, you know, I don't ever see you hopping on an airplane. I offered to fly you out.
Billy: Well, I don't like French food. Hey, you all excited about seeing your friends?
Beth: Some more than others.
Mindy: Yeah, yeah.
Billy: I bet you the boys will be excited about seeing you two.
Mindy: Boys? Daddy, we're not actually in high school. We're just going to the reunion.
Billy: Well, I think it's a good place to meet, you know, the right guy.
Mindy: Well, and some of us are perfectly happy living the life we lead.
Billy: Well, I don't see anything wrong with a little young love. (Laughter)
Daisy: You're in a good mood.
Grady: It's been a good day.
Daisy: Yeah, I know. Everything is changing. People are finally going to accept us.
Grady: You say that like you really want for that to happen.
Daisy: Well, yeah, because it makes everything easier, because everything's been really hard for a long time. We can be anything we want to be.
Grady: It sounds like something out of a movie.
Daisy: Yeah, th... that is exactly what we are. We're a couple in one of those sappy girl movies, you know, walking down the beach hand-in-hand into the sunset.
Grady: Well, maybe we should go to, like, Tahiti or some place like that, huh? And walk on the beach together.
Daisy: No. We'll be happy right here.
Grady: Well, maybe I should go see one of those sappy girl films so I know how to act.
Daisy: You'd see one of those movies for me?
Grady: Just one.
Daisy: Okay, when?
Grady: I don't know, tonight. You go home, check the... the guide, and I'll go and see one of those films with you huh? I'll call you later.
Daisy: Okay. Thank you.
Cyrus: Hey.
Lizzie: Thank you for getting here so fast.
Cyrus: What's up? Did you connect your dad to that message on Bill's phone?
Lizzie: No, I've been too busy trying to convince your brother not to testify against my grandfather.
Cyrus: Yeah, I know. Don't want him to testify, either. He'll just end up getting hurt.
Lizzie: Yeah, no kidding. My granddad sent me here to threaten him.
Cyrus: You don't want to do that. Grady is dangerous when he's backed into a corner. Threatening him is not going to work.
Lizzie: Well, I know that, because he laughed in my face and walked away. I need your help.
Cyrus: All right. We'll go talk to him together.
Lizzie: Oh, no, no. No, no, no. He's way past talking. We need to... I don't know. We need to find out what his weakness is.
Cyrus: Well, that's actually pretty easy. Money.
Lizzie: Oh. Wow, okay. That is so easy that it didn't even occur to me.
Cyrus: Well, when you have it, you don't really think about money that way.
Lizzie: You know something? Actually, I've paid him off before, and he took the money and he's still here.
Cyrus: Yeah, I'm not talking about small-time criminal money. Grady wants "set you up for life" money.
Lizzie: Really? What, like $50 million?
Cyrus: Now that's Spaulding "set you up for life" money. $1 million will probably do it for Grady.
Lizzie: A million? Yeah, I can do that.
Cyrus: How soon?
Lizzie: Like a half hour.
Cyrus: Wow! If I had known it was that easy... all right. I'll... I'll set up a place for you to meet him, then I'll call you.
Lizzie: Do you think this is going to work?
Cyrus: Oh, I'll make sure my brother accepts your offer.
Lizzie: Thanks.
Grady: Don't ruin my good day, Cy.
Cyrus: Lizzie is getting $1 million to give you so that you don't testify against Alan Spaulding. You’re going to take it, we're going to leave town, and we're going to let Bill Lewis go, and never look back.
Grady: That's a lot of money.
Cyrus: Yep, it's enough for you to take care of yourself.
Grady: What do I have to do?
Cyrus: Lizzie is going to have the money in about 30 minutes. Go to the cannery warehouse. I'll send her there for the handoff.
Alan: Phillip, I want to thank you for bailing me out of jail..
Phillip: I didn’t.
Alan: I know you didn’t
Phillip: Because I have other things on my mind at the moment. I'm worried about Lizzie.
Alan: Well, you should be worried about Lizzie. You know, she came to me because she is convinced that you kidnapped her.
Phillip: Well, I hope you were able to calm her down.
Alan: I always do.
Phillip: Right. (Laughing)
Alan: Well, Phillip, what did you want me to do? Did you want me to lie to her and tell her that her father is incapable of kidnapping and terrorizing his own children?
Phillip: Oh, no. Alan, we certainly wouldn't want you to lie.
Alan: Don't you worry, Phillip, I'm... I'm taking care of her.
Phillip: Really, like you took care of me when you shot me in the chest?
Alan: You do what you have to do, Phillip, to protect your family. Sometimes, the decisions you make are very difficult ones, and even more difficult for people to understand.
Phillip: Well, you and I have very different ideas about how to protect the people we love.
Alan: Do we?
Phillip: Yeah. I would do just about anything to protect my children, but there are some lines that you just don't cross.
Daisy: Hey.
Grady: Hey, yourself. No movie tonight.
Daisy: But I really wanted to see it.
Grady: We're going to go to town instead.
Daisy: Really?
Grady: Yeah, I just came into a lot of money. I was thinking, screw going to the movies. No popcorn for us. We're going to go down to Towers, we're going to have a nice meal, drink some nice wine. And then, book the best hotel room in the Beacon and have sex all night long.
Daisy: Um... okay. Where did you get the money?
Grady: Oh, don't worry about that. I’ll tell you what-- how about we meet at my place at 8:00?
Daisy: 8:00, I'll be there.
Grady: All right. Oh, and wear something hot..
Daisy: Okay.
Buzz: Right now, I mean, right now, Alan is probably sitting up in his mansion on the hill, drinking 18-year-old scotch and smoking a big ass cigar, and nobody... nobody seems to care about the injustice of this!
Frank: We all care. We all just deal with it in our own way.
Billy: Hey, Buzz. I could hear you screaming about Alan all the way down the hall.
Buzz: Feel free to join in.
Frank: Billy, you're not helping here.
Billy: No. I... I get it. When someone hurts your kids, it's blinding. I mean, the anger is just overwhelming.
Buzz: Oh, yeah.
Billy: Well, I know where you're going with this. Don't go there, Buzz. You're one of the good guys. Don't go down to Alan’s level.
Buzz: I can't be who I was. I don't want to be.
Rick: Mindy Sue Lewis. Oh, my gosh. Look at you. (Laughter)
Mindy: Oh, I'm glad to see you.
Rick: You look radiant.
Mindy: Wow!
Rick: You don't look a day over...
Mindy: Don't say 40, or I'll kill you.
Rick: 24. I was saying 24, actually.
Mindy: And you've never been a good liar, either.
Rick: Oh!
Phillip: You look beautiful.
Beth: Thank you. I'm... I'm glad that you came. (Laughter)
Rick: You do, you look great. (Laughter) Oh, there he is. Kind of looks like he runs a corporation.
Mary: Anyone who hasn’t picked up a name tag...
Rick: Mary Paxton? That's Mary Paxton.
Phillip: Mm-hmm.
Rick: Mary "Pizza Face" Paxton. Do you remember that? Do you remember her? We used to count the zits on her face.
Mindy: Oh, stop it.
Rick: Oh, don't act like you didn't do that!
Mindy: You're awful.
Rick: I was 17. I'm much more sensitive now.
Beth: No, you're not, that's the problem. (Laughter)
Phillip: Man, 17. Would you go back?
Beth: No.
Phillip: Me, either.
Rick: Mm-mm.
Mindy: No.
Rick: Well, am I the handsome captain of the football team or am I me?
Mindy: You're you.
Rick: I'm not going back. (Laughter) I'm staying where I am. (Laughter)
Daisy: Hello? Don't you knock?
Cyrus: I did. Listen, I... I want to talk to you about Grady. Um... I know how much you want him to testify, and you know that I don't want him to, but I don't want you to think that any of this means that I'm mad at your family.
Daisy: Okay.
Cyrus: It's a lot, what you're asking of Grady. And even if it worked out and he stayed here, I'm not sure that he'd fit in the way that you want him to.
Daisy: He can. Okay, once people see him in a different light, then he won't make so many mistakes trying to prove he’s okay.
Cyrus: I hope, someday, that you get everything that you want. And I hope that your whole family is always as close and as loving as it is right now.
Daisy: You're being weird.
Cyrus: Yeah, well, I'm Australian, so...
Daisy: Look, Grady can do this. He can. People will see that he's not as bad as they think he is.
Cyrus: He loves you, I know that.
Daisy: I know that, too.
Cyrus: Good.
(Cell phone rings)
Buzz: Yeah. I need to see you.
Grady: Not tonight, I'm taking Daisy out.
Buzz: Alan got out on bail.
Grady: So??
Buzz: I can't let anything go wrong. Meet me at the police station.
Rick: Thank you.
Beth: Oh, was the food always this bad?
Mindy: I don't remember it tasting like this.
Rick: I'm loving the applesauce. It’s underrated as a fruit.
Mary: I see none of you have your name tags.
Rick: Oh.
Mary: I'm Mary Paxton. Some people used to call me "Pizza Face".
Rick: Well, that's awful.
Mary: Beth. Mindy.
Mindy: Yes. Thank you.
Mary: Phillip.
Phillip: Thanks, Mary.
Mary: And Dr. Rick, right?
Rick: "Dr. Bauer" or "Rick" is fine.
Mindy: Well this is great. Mary, thanks for putting all of this together.
Rick: I... it's just this...I love this applesauce. You've done a great job.
Beth: Great. You've done really... great, everything's great. And we're really looking forward to the dance.
Mary: And I'm glad that you and Phillip are planning to come, really. Ooh, Dave Carter. Got to go.
Rick: Hello! Her face has cleared up. She looks good..
Beth: Yes.
Mindy: Yes.
Rick: Is she married? Does anybody know if she's married?
Mindy: We don't think so.
Rick: I'm going to see if she needs some help moving some chairs around. I'll be right back, Mary? Keep this warm for me.
Phillip: You have no shame.
Mindy: Beth, I think we should go say hi to Dave Carter. What do you think?
Beth: Sure.
Mindy: Dave Carter, remember?
(Cell phone rings)
Lizzie: Mom, he's here. The kidnapper. I brought money, I'm at the cannery warehouse, and I saw him. I saw his chest. He has the scar. He's going to hurt me. Please, Mom, don't let him get me. Please, don't let him get me. I... I have to hang up because I don't want him to hear me.
Phillip: Lizzie!
Cyrus: What the hell are you doing here? You're supposed to be meeting with Lizzie.
Grady: I went to meet her. She wasn't there.
Cyrus: So, what are you doing here?
Grady: Buzz called.
Cyrus: Why do you not understand that we have to get out of this place?! I set up everything for you! Money, a car, a place for us to go until we figure out what we're going to do next.
Grady: I don't want to go anywhere.
Cyrus: Well, I don't want to go anywhere either, Grady, but your choices have made it impossible for us to stay here.
Grady: So you're saying it's all my fault?
Cyrus: Yeah! You kidnapped Lizzie. You helped set up Bill. You ran over Cassie’s daughter, and now you've agreed to testify against Alan Spaulding. What the hell, Grady?
Grady: You've done bad things, too.
Cyrus: Not life threatening things. Not things that put people in danger, that could really hurt someone. Listen Grady, you're my brother. I love you more than anyone in the world. I can't just stand by and let your bad choices take you down.
Grady: I need Daisy.
Cyrus: I know you do. I know, and I know that leaving her is going to be one of the hardest things that you've ever done, but you're going to do it because I need you to stay alive. I love you.
Phillip: Lizzie! Lizzie! Lizzie! Honey! Lizzie! Lizzie! It's okay. It's okay. I've got you. I've got you. It's okay.
Lizzie: (Sobbing)
Phillip: It's all right, sweetheart. It's okay. Nobody is going to hurt you. I got your call, I came as soon as I could. And I looked outside, there's nobody here, okay? It's okay. You're safe. Nothing is going to happen to you. Daddy's here.
Lizzie: It's you.
Phillip: It's all right, sweetheart.
Lizzie: How did you get here?
Phillip: I came to help you, honey.
Lizzie: Don't you dare touch me!
Phillip: Okay, okay, okay. Honey, I won't touch you. I came to help you, honey. Just tell me what happened, okay?
Lizzie: I was trying to help Granddad. I brought Grady money. I brought him money so that he wouldn't testify. And then he was standing there. He was standing. He was standing right there, right where you're standing. That's when I saw the scar.
Phillip: What scar?
Lizzie: The kidnapper had a scar. I scratched him. I scratched him. And Grady had a tattoo -- he had a tattoo that would cover it, but --
Phillip: We need to get out of here.
Lizzie: No, no, no. That's where he had my tied up, right up there.
Phillip: It's going to be all right.
Lizzie: And you know, the ropes hurt really bad. And I couldn't see anything. And all he used was just that voice, his voice...
Phillip: The voice on the phone?
Lizzie: Yeah. You know, the voice, and he threw me... he threw me in the van. He threw me in the van, and he put a bag over my head. And he grabbed me. And... you grabbed me! No, no, no!! I was alone, I was all by myself.
Phillip: Please, Lizzie, I...
Lizzie: No, you had all of the kids on that plane. You had them on the plane. You had me in the dark.
Phillip: Listen to me...
Lizzie: No! You had a mask over your face, and then I scratched you. (Sobbing) I can't get it out... I can't get out. I can't get away.
Mindy: Hi. Is everything okay?
Beth: Um, yeah. Yeah, I hope so.
Mindy: Where's Phillip?
Beth: Um, I don't know.
Mindy: Do you think this is too much for him?
Beth: Oh, Mindy, this whole thing is weird, under the best of circumstances. You know, it's like the building is the same, it smells the same-- time's stood still here, but so many things have happened since then.
Mindy: Do you think maybe this is too much for you? You've been through an awful lot recently, Beth.
Beth: I was kind of hoping, you know, that tonight would be a way for me to remember who I was before all the bad things happened. But... bad things happened then, too. I guess there's no escaping them.
Mindy: Well, you know what my daddy used to say-- "Whenever you get bumped off a horse, you've got to get right back in the saddle."
Beth: Except all of my horses seem to be on a merry-go-round, and I keep making the same mistake again and again.
Mindy: Well, what was that movie, where the horses jump off of the merry-go-round, and the girl wins the race..
Beth: That was a cartoon.
Mindy: So? She wins.
Buzz: Alan! Alan! Alan
Alan: I'm here, Buzz.
Buzz: What did you do with Grady?
Alan: Grady Foley?
Buzz: I called a meeting with him, but he never showed.
Alan: I can't believe that he would stand you up, Buzz. After all, Lillian tells me you're a pretty hot date.
Buzz: Bastard! Tell me where he is!
Alan: Did you ever think he may have been terrified of testifying and ran away like a scared puppy? Give up!
Buzz: (Yelling) I'm gonna make you pay!! Damn it!
Frank: Dad!
Buzz: I'm going to make sure you hurt, baby. I'm going to make sure I cause you pain for the rest of your life.
Alan: Get him out of here, Frank he's crazy!
Billy: Hey, hey!
Frank: Dad, go!
Daisy: You don't have to do at anymore. You can just come in.
Grady: Doesn't matter, I wanted to. Wow, you look amazing.
Daisy: I'm not ready.
Grady: Oh, you look beautiful like that.
Daisy: I'm not ready yet.
Grady: Why don't you turn and spin for me?
Daisy: What?
Grady: No, I want to see you, really. Ah, that's it.
Daisy: What's it?
Grady: I want to remember you like that for the rest of your life.
Daisy: All right, take a picture. (Laughs)
Grady: That's perfect.
Daisy: Let me see. Oh, no, that's terrible. Try again.
Grady: No, I like it the way it is.
Daisy: Take another one.
Grady: Okay. Look, I've got something for you. I want you to have this, so that there's a piece of me always next to you.
Daisy: Thank you.
Grady: We've been through lot together.
Daisy: Yeah. But it's going to be okay now.
Grady: Yeah. Go inside. I'll see you later.
Daisy: I'll see you at 8:00.
Phillip: You know, when you were a little baby, I used too count your toes, and it would make you laugh. I'd peek up over the tops, even when you were just a tiny little thing, and those big blue eyes would smile at me, and you would just laugh and laugh. I did it... I did it when you were in the hospital, when you were sick, too. Do you remember? Remember, you'd get sad and you'd be scared but I'd count your little toes and I'd tickle them, and you'd start to laugh. I used to watch you there at night, when you were sleeping, because I was afraid that if I left, you'd stop breathing and... I couldn't bear the thought of losing you. You are the one perfect thing in my life, Lizzie, and I don't know what to do for you right now, or how to help you. But I do know that you are going to find your way. And if you ever want my help, I will always, always be here for you. Can I just take you home?
Mindy: Oh, hi. Oh, finally. I thought we lost you.
Rick: No. Are you kidding me? I'm loyal to my buddies.
Mindy: Oh, you would dump me for Pizza Face in a heartbeat.
Rick: Has anybody seen Phillip, by the way?
Beth: No. I was hoping he was with you.
Rick: Oh, no. He better stay away from Pizza Face, okay? She's mine. I talked about the applesauce...
Beth: Maybe... maybe he went home.
Rick: No, he didn't, Beth. He didn't go home. He's walking out of the field or the classroom, having these... you know, his deep thoughts, his deep, moody thoughts. I mean, be honest, that's why you guys like him just a little bit more.
Mindy: Oh, what makes you think we liked him more?
Rick: Mindy, you guys left my heart in a million pieces.
Mindy: But now you've got Pizza Face.
Rick: That's right. And by the way, she's liking the whole doctor thing. And when we get married-- don't laugh at me-- when we get married, I'm going to make sure you two are there in the front row, weeping and crying at what could have been.
Beth: If you can get her, Mindy and I will be there.
Rick: Bring it on, baby. Bring it on.
Daisy: How do I look?
Buzz: Fine.
Daisy: Grady is taking me to Towers. We've never been me anywhere like that before, but we're going to celebrate our new start, thanks to you. You can come if you want. Just not too much rich food; you just had a heart attack.
Buzz: You go.
Daisy: I don't have to leave for a while. Do you want to play some poker? I'll let you win.
Buzz: Okay. Set up the cards.
Daisy: Okay. All right, here's the deal: You can have a few chips, but you can't tell Marina or Uncle Frank, all right?
Buzz: I won’t.
Daisy: So, um, what are we playing? Five card stud? Texas hold'em? Blackjack?
Buzz: You choose.
Daisy: Alright. Be careful, because I have a feeling some good things are going to happen tonight.
Cyrus: You all right?
Lizzie: No. No, I need your help.
Cyrus: What's the matter?
Lizzie: I just had a scare at the warehouse, and I don't think I can go in there.
Cyrus: Well, we don't have to. We can go to Towers or Farley's or just take a walk...
Lizzie: I know who it was.
Cyrus: Who?
Lizzie: Your brother. He's my kidnapper. It's his voice.
Grady: Next time, Lizzie Spaulding won't be so easy to find.
Lizzie: I can’t believe that I didn't hear this. I can't believe that I didn't figure it out. How stupid am I?! I thought this was Bill! Why would I think that this was Bill? And now he's not even here. And he thinks that I... Grady left this message on Bill's phone. He was threatening Bill. Oh, my God, what if Grady did something to Bill?
Grady: Hey, dude! You call me all the way out here? I don't even know you. Who are you?
Phillip: I'm Phillip Spaulding. I'm Lizzie Spaulding’s father.
Next week on "Guiding Light"...
Doris: Jeffrey is suing Reva for sole custody of the baby so that she will deliver it early and save her life.
Frank: Hi. I'm glad we're alone.
Dinah: You're the only one who understands.
Lizzie: No.
Bill: Lizzie, he and his brother grabbed me and they locked me up.
Grady: Just do as I say, and nothing will happen.
Phillip: No one hurts my little girl.
