Natalia: I just want you to be okay.
Frank: I'm okay when I'm with you.
Mrs. Dovic: What are you doing here?
Mallet: My wife, Marina.
Frank: How about we just start all over again and--
Natalia: I can't.
Mrs. Dovic: The parents of this baby want him back.
Mallet: The parents?
Natalia: I'm scared that God hates me for what I've done. He's mad at me.
Olivia: No one could ever hate you.
Natalia: Frank could. The way I led him on. So wrong, I don't know why I couldn't just turn and walk away.
Olivia: Stop. Stop being so hard on yourself.
Natalia: And you, you shouldn't sit so close to me. Because God is going to strike me with lightning, and you're going to want to be nice and far away.
Olivia: You honestly think that God is angry with you because you slept with Frank?
Natalia: No. Because I'm being a hypocrite. Doing one thing, saying another.
Olivia: Well, you know what? If that's a sin, I'm in a lot of trouble. So, hell, party of two, here we come.
Natalia: You? You, you're the most honest person I know.
Olivia: Not so much lately. I haven't been truthful with you and with myself. Maybe if I had, then you wouldn't have spent the night with Frank.
Natalia: What do you mean?
Olivia: I don't know how to say this. I guess I'm just going to have to tell you the truth.
Shayne: Hey, batta, batta lose with the windup and here comes the pitch.
Reva: Okay. I thought you guys came over here to help me paint.
Marina: We did. Okay. We're just, you know, Shayne’s trying to help me keep my mind off my babies.
Reva: What? Are you and Mallet hav...
Marina: Yes, ah, no. Kind of-- we're trying to adopt. So he's in D.C. now trying to get us moved up on the adoption list.
Reva: Whew! What kind do you hope for?
Marina: I don't know. Actually, I never really thought about it. I think I would be really happy with either.
Reva: Yeah? Well, coming from someone whose had both, hope for a girl because they are a lot easier to take care of than boys.
Shayne: Yeah, well, thank you for that. That was very lovely.
Reva: Hey!
Jeffrey: You guys ready to turn his room into a nursery?
Reva: Yeah, except that Shayne and Marina have used up all of the paint tape playing ball.
Shayne: Yeah, I did. It's because her boobs bounce when she runs. What do you expect from me? I don't...
Marina: What? How dare you!
Shayne: No, no.
Reva: You know, I was kind of hoping that maybe we could find a paint to match the rocker, you know, for the trim.
Jeffrey: Nice.
Reva: Yeah.
Jeffrey: Yeah.
Reva: Okay. So you guys need to go to the store and get some more paint tape. And then see if they can make up something to match that.
Shayne: Well, can we go get some chips and soda, too?
Reva: What is it about Marina that turns you into a 14 year-old?
Shayne: It's her boobs. Boobs!
Marina: Go! Go!
Shayne: I'm joking... all right.
Reva: I like my boobs, too. Okay, thanks. Does he seem happier to you?
Jeffrey: Happier than what?
Reva: Than usual.
Jeffrey: Well, he's not around Edmund.
Reva: True.
Jeffrey: That is, that's blue.
Reva: Yeah, that's baby bonnet blue.
Jeffrey: Okay, our kid's not wearing a baby bonnet, right and he's not wearing this, this blue.
Reva: (Laughs) I know. Don't worry about the paint color. By the time this little guy is 18, you're going to turn this into a music room anyway. So you guys can go ahead and hang out and play your music if I'm not around.
Dinah: I'm so sorry, Mallet.
Mallet: That's all right. It's a good thing Marina wasn't here. You know, to have a baby in your arms, think that baby is almost yours, and then that baby gets taken away. It's just a-- you know, it's a good thing she wasn't here. That would have, that would have crushed her.
Dinah: I know that it's got to be breaking your heart, too. It's okay to admit that. It's healthy. You know, they're not going to throw you out of the boys club for that.
Mallet: Did you see that little bugger look up at me? I only had him in my arms for a few minutes, but... I swear it felt like I was holding my son.
Reva: So where do you think we should start, huh huh, the walls or the ceiling?
Jeffrey: The walls, always start with the walls.
Reva: Okay. Great do you think he's going to like it?
Jeffrey: What, the color?
Reva: Well, no. Everything. You know, I mean, everything, the wood. I mean, I want him to be happy. I want-- when he gets here, that it is everything he wants it to be.
Jeffrey: You're going to make sure it is, right?
Reva: Yeah. Yeah.
Jeffrey: Okay.
Reva: If I'm still here.
Jeffrey: There, how's that? Huh? Enough. Enough!
Reva: What are you doing? Why did you do that?
Jeffrey: Are you planning to be here for this baby?
Reva: Of course I am. It's my baby.
Jeffrey: Yes. Are you planning to be here for him? Nurse him? To feed him? To clothe him? To bathe him? To do, I don't know what.. but, I am going to find out because I am going to be here. What I need to know from you, Reva, what I need to know is, are you going to be here, too?
Reva: I have cancer, Jeffrey.
Jeffrey: Yes! Are you going to be here?
Reva: How do you expect me to answer that question!
Jeffrey: I expect you to say yes! Yes! Emphatically yes and mean it!
Reva: I am trying to be realistic.
Jeffrey: Realistic, Reva, if we were realistic, we would have never would have gotten here in the first place. Okay? So if you have given up, if you've given in to dying, then I wish you would do that somewhere else! I'm going to paint!
Reva: Jeffrey...
Jeffrey: No, no, no!! I am going to paint. And I am going to choose the color because I am going to be here for this child, okay? I am going to choose-- and not this crappy baby blue, okay? I get to choose! You don't because you, you've given up.
Reva: I have not. I have not given up to dying. I don't want to die! I want to be here with you and this baby!
Jeffrey: Then decide to be. Decide to be.
Reva: Some things even I can't control. Jeffrey, I mean... where is all of this coming from?
Jeffrey: I've been feeling like this for a while. Ever since I found out that you stopped fighting. (Whispers)
Reva: I never stopped fighting.
Jeffrey: I better go before I say something that I really regret.
Reva: Jeffrey, don't walk out of here! Jeffrey O’Neill
Shayne: Dad! Hey. You're just the man I was hoping to see.
Josh: Hi.
Shayne: Isn't Dad good with a paint brush. If we have him come over, half of our work is done.
Marina: No way. What do you think we will have to do to convince him?
Josh: Wait, wait, wait just a second. What are you trying to rope me into now?
Shayne: Mom and Jeffrey are painting the nursery today. Huh?
Josh: That sounds like a wonderful job for a son, but not for an ex-husband.
Marina: I think he probably has you there.
Josh: I think I do. I've got to go to the store. I'll talk to you later. Bye.
Marina: Sweet car, dude.
Mallet: Well, at least you came here and you got the music box to give to Shayne.
Dinah: Thanks to you. I just wish I could have returned the favor, you know?
Mallet: You did everything you could.
Dinah: Well, it wasn't exactly a stretch. I've played your wife. You know what I mean.
Mallet: I know what you mean.
Dinah: You know, when I saw you with the baby, I realized you were going to be such a wonderful father.
Mallet: Thank you. Thanks. Well, just trying to hang on to hope. It seems like every door I open, though, just slams shut in my face. But you know what, Dinah? I'm, I'm so sorry for making you cross the line. I’m sorry.
Dinah: No. No, it's okay. Look, I know what it's like to have doors slammed in your face. It's okay.
Mallet: You know what I'm wishing right now? I'd just like to see that baby again. Just, you know, I don't know, to say good-bye. (Laughs) Oh, boy. Dinah, Dinah, Dinah. What is wrong with me?
Dinah: Absolutely nothing.
Kovach: Mr. Camaletti?
Mallet: Ah, yeah?
Kovach: My name is Kovach. The orphanage said that you wanted to give our baby a good home.
Mallet: Ah, your baby?
Kovach: Um... yes, yes. My wife and I wanted to say thank you.
Natalia: Are you going to tell me or...
Olivia: Ah-huh. It's just that, um... it's not that easy for me to just say...
Natalia: Well, it sounds serious.
Olivia: Maybe we should sit down. Okay. Look, it's been a year since Gus' death and my surgery. ... And the year that I didn't think that I would survive, and now, you know, there are times when I forget that I’ve even had a transplant.
Natalia: That's good, it's great.
Olivia: Like I said, it's been a year that I didn't expect to have. And it's just been filled with new and wonderful, unexpected things.
Natalia: Gus gave you a great gift.
Olivia: You gave me the greater gift.
Natalia: Ok.
Olivia: I don't know what I would do without you. I've just have grown very, um, fond of you. And, um... I don't know.
Natalia: Well, I know you're trying to cheer me up.
Olivia: No, that's not it. I don't want gratitude.. I don't... I want something and I'm not sure. Okay. So I'm just going to come out and say it. (Knock on the door)
Natalia: I'll get it.
Jeffrey: Hi.
Natalia: Hi.
Jeffrey: Is Olivia here?
Natalia: Yeah.
Jeffrey: So then I kind of, you know, started yelling. And I kind of, I kind of lost it. And I think I, I think I hurt her. I didn't mean to, but I think I hurt her.
Natalia: That's terrible.
Olivia: You're an ass.
Jeffrey: Thanks. I know.
Olivia: You know she's pregnant, she has cancer. You know, if you were angry with her, you should have just been talking to her all along.
Jeffrey: I am an ass. I'm an ass. I know. I’m an ass. (Knock on the door)
Natalia: I'll get it.
Josh: Hi.
Natalia: Hi.
Josh: I picked up some joint compound. I thought I'd... hello.
Olivia: Joint compound.
Josh: Jeffrey.
Jeffrey: Josh.
Josh: I heard a rumor that you were painting the nursery today.
Jeffrey: Yeah, I was.
Josh: Okay.
Natalia: This is fun. Having some friends stop by. I’ll go inside and make us something to eat. Are you-- do you...
Olivia: I-- you know, I'm sure that they both have something to do, right?
Natalia: No. They wouldn't be here if they did. Do you want something to eat? Are you hungry?
Josh: Well, I could eat, sure.
Natalia: I could eat.
Olivia: There is nothing in the fridge.
Natalia: Yeah. Well, we'll have to go out. We'll go out, I'll get our coats.
Jeffrey: Looks like we're are going out.
Dinah: Please, make yourself comfortable.
Mallet: I don't understand why you're here.
Kovach: Oh, my wife and I felt badly. We know how much you want the child.
Mallet: Yeah, that's why we came all the way over to this country.
Kovach: Of course.
Mallet: I don't understand why you're here. I don't understand why you're in my room, holding your baby.
Kovach: Well, we want you to understand. We are poor. We wanted to give him a better life.
Dinah: Okay. It's really hard for us to see the baby again. So you really shouldn't be here.
Kovach: Okay. Our lives are so hard, but he is our baby. We'd hate to give him up, even though we may all have to starve.
Mallet: Are you trying to sell your baby?
Shayne: Here we are, hot dogs.
Marina: Hey, we got some lunch. Oh, my gosh, are you okay? Is the baby okay?
Reva: He's fine. I'm fine. It's just, it's, you know, hormones. It's a 24/7 roller coaster ride.
Marina: Okay, well, let's get off the roller coaster and have some lunch.
Shayne: Where's Jeffrey?
Reva: He went for a walk. He's having a bad day.
Shayne: Uh-huh. Did Jeffrey do this? Where is he, Mom?
Reva: I don't know.
Shayne: Mom, please tell me where Jeffrey is. Because I'm going to go find him and I'm going to beat his ass right now.
Reva: No. He's under enough pressure.
Shayne: I am, too..
Reva: He didn't sign on for all of this drama.
Shayne: Don't do that! Please don't do that! He's the one who is lucky to have you right now, okay?
Reva: Thanks, sweetie. It's just that he’s worked so hard, you know. He wants to believe that everything is going to be all right. And I don't know if I can believe that right now.
Shayne: Okay. Listen. Listen. I'm a grown man, and I know what's happening here. And I'm going to go find him, right now.
Reva: No. No, no, Shayne! No. Listen to me. This is not his fault. He's been trying so hard to take good care of me, and all I've been doing is standing back and keeping a distance, when we should be working on this together.
Shayne: Mom, I know. I've been here for the last six months too, okay?
Reva: I know, honey.
Marina: Hey, how about I-- I'm going to pick things up, get things cleaned up a little bit, and we'll eat some lunch. Okay?? We'll just take a break. Let's just take a break. Jeffrey is going to be back any minute. I know he is.
Shayne: Mom...
Reva: I don't know if he's coming back (sobbing)
Shayne: Hey, you missed a spot, like several of them, over the wall.
Marina: I'm not done yet, okay? I'm about the best painter I know. I painted my whole house in three days after my family put it off for two years.
(Mocking)
Shayne: I'm the best painter I know.
Reva: Watch it.
Shayne: What?
Reva: Marina is a problem-solver.
Marina: Yeah, well...
Shayne: Ay-yuh.
Marina: I don't know.
Shayne: Uh-huh.
Marina: I try to be.
Reva: Hey, everything's going to be okay. Oh, come here. Quick.
Shayne: You okay?
Reva: No, Marina. I need her calming hands. Seeing that this little guy knows her so well already. There we go. You feel that?
Marina: (Laughs) Yes. I do feel like I know him already.
Reva: Uh-huh. And it's going to be the same for you. When you get that little baby, you're going to look down at it, whether it's a he or she or whatever, and you're going to know instantly that you were all meant to be together.
Shayne: I'm going to go get the ladder. Do the ceilings.
Reva: No, no, no, no. You're not doing the ceilings. No ladder.
Shayne: Yes, yes, yes, yes, I am doing the ceilings.
Reva: No! You're recovering, Shayne.
Shayne: I'm doing fine... (knock on the door)
Reva: Oh! I can't believe! I don’t believe you're here.
Colin: I don't believe you don't lock your door..
Marina: Well, that was Shayne.
Shayne: That was not me.
Reva: Colin, this is my son Shayne.
Colin: Hey.
Reva: Shayne Lewis. This is my Oncologist, Colin McCabe. And my friend! And this is Marina.
Colin: Hi.
Shayne: It's really nice to meet you. Thank you for saving my mom's life.
Colin: Oh, well, you know, (laughs) Reva doesn't do anything she doesn't want to do.
Shayne: Really? I've never seen that side of her. (Laughter)
Reva: You can go get the ladder now because Colin can paint the ceiling.
Colin: Oh, no, you've forgotten. I'm afraid of heights.
Reva: Hey, go get the ladder. Get the hell out of here. You're not afraid of heights. You're not. Don't play that on me. Remember, we got you through that on our last collaboration.
Colin: Where's Jeffrey? Come on, isn't this his job?
Reva: Um, he... I gave him the day off.
Colin: Okay, fine. You win, as usual. Where is, where is the ladder? Oh, God.
Reva: (Laughs) Here we go.
Josh: So you want a break?
Natalia: Yes. How do I do that?
Josh: This is going to be real easy.
Jeffrey: Olivia, get over here and break these balls.
Olivia: Yeah, that's too easy. Okay. Can I use your big stick?
Josh: Absolutely.
Olivia: You know what? Let's make this interesting. 20 says we win..
Jeffrey: 40.
Olivia: 60.
Jeffrey: 100.
Olivia: Oh, skipped 80. Got it!
Natalia: Okay. I don't know-- wait, wait, wait, I don't really know if I'm really sure of how to play the game.
Olivia: That's fine.
Jeffrey: Good.
Olivia: We girls are solid.
Josh: Yes, you are.
Marina: There. Isn't this fun, baby?
Shayne: You're talking to a stuffed toy.
Marina: (Laughs) Look. Look at the bear. Isn't he's cute.
(Mocking)
Shayne: Ooh, look at the bear. Yeah, of course he's cute. He's a stuffed bear.
Marina: Oh, come on. Tell me that all of this baby stuff doesn't make you want to have a kid of your own some day.
Shayne: No. I don't think of anything that could possibly be worse for me in my life right now than having a kid, okay.
Marina: Well, that's too bad.
Shayne: Oh, is it?
Marina: Uh-huh. I think that you'd make a pretty amazing father.
Shayne: Hmm. Well, some people don't need people around them all the time, I guess. And I'm better alone.
Marina: Hmm. I love babies, and I can’t think of anything else that I want more.
Kovach: We love our son very much. We thought you might want to hold him one more time.
Mallet: Oh, man, what kind of a scam are you two running? Huh? What kind of a scam is this? I mean, is the whole orphanage in on it? Or is it just you two running around?
Kovach: I don't know what you're talking about.
Mallet: You let people into that orphanage, and you let them see the babies and hold the babies and fall in love with these babies, and then you turn around and say, oh, they're not available. And then at the end of the day, you extort money from them, so these people can perhaps maybe fly back with the babies they fall in love with if they pay enough money!
Kovach: So do you want the baby?
Mallet: You should be in jail for feeding on people's needs. And oh, so willing to take an innocent baby and just hand the baby over for the right price.
Kovach: We take the baby off the street, then we give the baby to people who are interested. People who are interested right now! No!
Mallet: You'd have to give me a reason, man. Just one reason why I shouldn't just drop you off this balcony!
Kovach: Because you need your immigration papers. And my cousin is a local authority. And if you don't take this baby right now, I will drop it back on the street!
Dinah: Oh, really? What kind of soulless jerk uses innocent babies?
Kovach: I thought you wanted to give him a good home.
Mallet: How much do you want? Not this kind of money.
Kovach: That's too bad for this kid.
Mallet: This is all of the caca I have. And you are going to take this, and I'm going to take that baby.
Kovach: It's not enough.
Dinah: Here, take this.
Mallet: I'm not letting you do this.
Dinah: Listen, do you want this baby? Because I don't think you're going to get another chance like this.
Mallet: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I want the baby.
Dinah: The ring is platinum. It's diamond solitaire. The offer is good for the next 30 seconds, all right?
Mallet: Dinah, no. No, no, no.
Kovach: This is beautiful, but, um... how do I know it's real?
Mallet: How do you know we're not going to turn you into the authorities, huh? I guess we're going to have to trust each other to get what we all want. You want the money, you take the money. We want the baby.
Kovach: Deal.
Dinah: Okay. Come here, sweetie. I'm here. I'm here.
Mallet: Hi, sweetie. You keep an eye on that little cowboy. I'll be right back, okay?
Dinah: Okay. Everything's fine, everything's fine, handsome. Yes, it is. See yourself?
Mallet: What about the immigration papers?
Kovach: Oh, I forgot.
Mallet: And I'm going to need the ring back.
Kovach: A deal is a deal.
Mallet: I going to need the ring back, you are not taking anything from that woman in there. You're not stealing from her. She's lost enough already. I am going to take the ring back. Or walking out of here will be the last thing you ever do. Thank you.
Dinah: Doo, doo, doo. We did it! He's all yours. Would you like to hold your son?
Mallet: Yeah.
Dinah: Okay, handsome, come and meet your new daddy. There he is. There is your new daddy.
Marina: Hey, there's a package.
Shayne: It's probably more baby stuff.
Marina: Actually, it's for you. It's from Dinah.
Shayne: I don't need Dinah buying off the mistakes she's made.
Marina: Oh, it came all the way from Bosnia.
I thought I didn't care the world was only me
but I lie alone is when I begin to see
please take me down to where we were I know my world...
Shayne: This was Lara's.
Marina: Wow, that's beautiful.
Shayne: It was, it was a cold night and we had a campfire going, and we'd just helped clear this settlement near Sarajevo, and we saw a lot of crazy things. And, um... we were sitting there, and she pulls this out of her duffel bag, and she started playing it. She played it over and over and over and over... but I'll tell you, it helped. Um, helped you feel better. It made us lighter anyway.
Natalia: Seven ball, corner pocket. Three ball, side.
Olivia: Yes!
Josh: Something tells me she already knew how to play.
Jeffrey: A little bit.
Olivia: You conned us all, right?
Natalia: Did I?
Jeffrey: Okay, so this was an obvious swindle, I am taking my money...
Olivia: No, you're not. All is fair in love and pool.
Natalia: Okay guys, same time next week?
Jeffrey: I don't think so.
Natalia: No, no, no. This is going straight in the cookie jar.
Jeffrey: Should have stayed home and painted the nursery.
Colin: (Laughs) What is this horrible color?
Reva: It's baby bonnet blue. And don't worry about it. It's for a nursery what do you expect?
Colin: It's pretty.
Reva: No, it's not. It's just blue.
Colin: You know, you don't have to tell me, but you can if you want to.
Reva: My husband walked out on me.
Colin: Jeffrey left you?
Reva: Well, no, not really. I yelled and then he yelled, and then he decided he didn't want to paint anymore. I don't know, I might have said a few things that upset him.
Colin: That's hard to imagine. (Laughs)
Reva: I don't want to die, Colin.
Colin: I don't want you to die, either.
Reva: We should finish the walls.
Jeffrey: It looks good.
Reva: I'm glad you like it. I like it, too.
Jeffrey: I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt you.
Reva: And I don't want to leave you, but I might not be able to control it.
Jeffrey: I know. We can't control everything.
Reva: I think we should put the crib in front of the window.
Jeffrey: Definitely.
What you got to lose love for your son
Mary and Jesus couldn't have you
mama look for me
Mallet: Ah, hey, I guess you're not there. I miss you. Anyway, I'm on the way. (Phone beeps)
Marina: Hello. No, wait. Wait! What about the baby? Ugh! You are the devil!
My forgiveness mama, look for...
Marina: Yellow. That's a hopeful color.
Mallet: Dinah, I wouldn't be holding this baby right here, right now, if it wasn't for you. Thank you.
Dinah: I'm glad I could help. (Baby crying)
Mallet: Coochy-coo want to go see?
Dinah: Aren't you handsome. My ring? How did you get that?
Mallet: It's your ring, it's yours. I'm not going to have you give it away, but thank you.
Dinah: Oh, Mallet, thank you! Thank you!
Mallet: I won't ever forget this. Thank you. Hey, little guy. I can't wait to get you home. I can't wait to see the look on Marina's face.
Dinah: Oh, she is going to be happy. (Laughs)
Mallet: She's be happy, yeah?
Dinah: Yeah.
Mallet: You want to come home?
Dinah: Yes.
Mallet: She's going to be very happy. Come here. Yes. Oh, oh. Let's go home. Let's go home. (Cell phone rings)
Dinah: Hello?
Shayne: Hey, it's me. I just got the music box. I do want to know how you found it.
Dinah: Oh, well good. I'm full of surprises.
Shayne: We're not at war with Bosnia now because of this, are we?
Dinah: Would you give me a little credit, please. The Consulate never knew what hit him.
Shayne: Thank you. This meant a lot to Lara, and so it means a lot to me.
Dinah: Good. You know, I'm just-- I'm sorry that it had to happen. I know it, it makes up for everything that I took from you, so...
Shayne: What's next for you?
Dinah: I don't know, maybe travel a little bit. You know? See what the big deal is with the Taj Mahal.
Shayne: Dinah...have a safe trip, okay?
Dinah: Okay. I'll send you a postcard bye.
Leave you don't let me change you leave like you leave don't let me change you
Natalia: Okay, that was really fun. I haven't played pool in a really long time.
Olivia: You are really good at it.
Natalia: No. I'm actually not, not that good, but I have a sweet, innocent face, and that allows me to take advantage of people.
Olivia: See? You have the devil in you. I kind of like that.
Natalia: Well, there's a lot you don't know about me.
Olivia: There's a lot we don't know about each other.
Natalia: We'll learn.
Olivia: I hope so. Which brings me to what we were talking about a little earlier.
Emma: Mommy, look!
Olivia: Hey.
Emma: It's Dad.
Olivia: It sure is.
Emma: Is he here?
Olivia: Yea I guess he is, baby.
Emma: When can we see him?
This week on "Guiding Light...
Beth: Time stood still here, but so many things have happened since then.
Mindy: So much has happened since that time, but I'll tell you, that time was innocent and pure.
Rick: Can I have this dance?
Mindy: Yes.
Phillip: Do you want to dance?
