Grady: Well, what's your plan, huh? You want me to wait till Bill gets his memory back, huh? Figures out that I'm the kidnapper?
Cyrus: It doesn't have to be like that.
Bill: You should listen to your brother.
Buzz: Frank, I'm not asking you to break the law. I'm just asking you to turn your back.
Frank: So you can frame Alan?
Buzz: He taunted Coop. He deliberately tried to provoke him. Beth heard every word. It's good to go.
Frank: What do you expect me to do?
(Telephone ringing)
Marina: Hello?
Mallet: Hey, what's up? You okay?
Marina: Yes. I'm sorry. I couldn't find the phone. This place looks like a bomb went off in it.
Mallet: Ah. Frank and Buzz still packing?
Marina: Yeah. Yeah. You know, it’s... it's hard. I mean, nobody wants to go, and yet nobody can bear to stay, either. Me, I just seem to see Coop everywhere I look.
Mallet: Yeah, I'm sure you do.
Marina: So, tell me, how's D.C.?
Mallet: D.C. Is... well, it's good, you know.
Marina: No, I don't know. I've never been to D.C. before in my life. What's it like? You see any sights?
Mallet: Well, you know what? I'm looking at the Washington Monument as we speak. It's, uh... you know, it's a great city. And, um... well, we'll do it together one of these days. It's good that you're home right now. You know, your family needs you.
Marina: Thank you so much. For going all the way out there, I mean, by yourself and all. Trying to get us moved up on that adoption registry. It really means a lot to me. I'm just... I'm so impressed that you're even doing it, you know? I don't even care if it works out or not. So, is it working?
Mallet: We will know soon.
Marina: Well, I guess you can't help hoping.
Mallet: Yeah, I know. Me, too.
Marina: You know, I've been thinking a lot about what you said, and I think that you're right. I think that this baby might, you know, give us all a chance, you know, a little bit of hope-- you know, my dad and my grandpa.
Mallet: Well, I want it for all of us. And I want it especially for you. You know what? Can I call you back, honey? I'll call you later.
Marina: You better. Hey, Mallet?
Mallet: Yeah.
Marina: I love you.
Mallet: Well, that makes me the luckiest guy I know. Talk to you later. Bye.
Woman: Are you the American?
Mallet: Yes, ma'am. Hi. Anthony Camaletti. Nice to meet you. And I'm sorry that I don't speak your language.
Woman: I speak a little English.
Mallet: Good. Good. Well, the only thing you need to understand is how anxious I am to adopt a baby.
Phillip: Lizzie needs me. You have to get me out of here.
Alan: Son, there is no reason that you should get violent about this. Given your situation, it could make things worse.
Phillip: You owe me.
Alan: I know I do, son. And I think you know how happy I am to have you back home.
Phillip: But I'm not back home. I'm in here, instead of out there where I can help my daughter.
Alan: You want me to help you get out of here. But if I were to ask Lizzie how I could help her, she would say find a way to keep you in here.
Phillip: I should have walked out of here when Buzz gave me the chance.
Alan: Buzz? What are you talking about? Buzz...
Phillip: He needed to talk to somebody about you.
Lizzie: What are you doing here, Buzz?
Buzz: Where's your grandfather?
Lizzie: Uh... I don't know. But maybe you should go, and I'll tell him that you stopped by, okay?
Buzz: Where is he?
Lizzie: This has to stop, okay?
Buzz: Where is your grandfather?
Lizzie: Listen, I am so, so sorry about Coop. You know that I am. Okay, whether you want to believe it or not, my grandfather, he is, too, okay?
Buzz: I don't think he is. But he's going to be.
Lizzie: So what, my granddad is the reason that Coop is dead, and you want to make him pay?
Buzz: I think it's about time he pays for something, don't you?
Lizzie: You want revenge?
Buzz: Yeah, revenge.
Lizzie: You'll do whatever it takes. But you need to stop. You need to stop this right now, okay? Because the very last thing that Coop would have ever wanted is for you to be acting like my grandfather. And let me tell you, Buzz-- that's what I'm looking at right now, Alan.
Bill: Hey, guys. Thanks for letting me in.
Cyrus: What do you want?
Bill: What do I want? Who thought you were smart enough to pull off a kidnapping?
Grady: Hey!
Cyrus: Listen, Bill...
Bill: No, I've heard enough, Cyrus.
Cyrus: You've got a long way to go to prove...
Bill: No, you shut up, huh? Look at a nice tattoo. Barely covers up the scar...
Cyrus: We can make a deal here, Bill.
Bill: No deal, Cyrus!
Cyrus: Take it easy, guy! You need to calm down.
Grady: I'm screwed!
Cyrus: We just need to figure this out.
Grady: Figure this out? Figure what out? He knows!
Cyrus: We need to buy some time. We'll lock him in here until... what the hell?! (Car tires squealing) (Yells)
Grady: That's it.
Cyrus: This is great. This is great.
Grady: We have three minutes to pack.
Cyrus: We've got to think!
Grady: Are you listening to me?
Cyrus: It's useless to run, Grady. How far are we going to get?
Grady: It's over. We're sunk.
Cyrus: Maybe not.
Grady: Maybe what? He's going straight to the police.
Cyrus: We've got one chance. Just one.
Buzz: You're not the first person to tell me I'm turning into Alan. Why not? Works for him.
Lizzie: No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t. What are you going to get from this? Buzz, coming here like this is not going to bring Coop back. Okay? Nothing is going to bring Coop back. He would want you to get on with your life. That’s... that's what he would want.
Buzz: My life. My life-- slinging burgers, making people happy.
Lizzie: I didn't say that. I don't know. I just know that this isn't right. This isn't you. You lost Coop, and that is the saddest thing in the world. Everyone has horrible things happen to them. You know, my dad and my boyfriend both tried to kidnap me. My grandfather shot my father. Life is messed up, it's screwed up, okay? But you-- you are lucky enough to have so many people that love you. You have people that you can trust. And Coop loved you so much. You need to hold onto that, because that is all that matters.
Alan: You might be worried about Elizabeth, but Buzz Cooper is nuts. He started stalking me.
Phillip: Well, you know what? He just lost his son. So put yourself in his position.
Alan: I've been in his position.
Phillip: Look, Lizzie is the priority right now. She is surrounded by people who are going to hurt her. And she’s... she's like Beth-- she's too trusting.
Alan: Like you used to be, son.
Phillip: Yeah, well, you know, you haven't protected her, because you've been too damn worried about your own pride, about... about losing Beth to a younger man.
Alan: You're wrong. I have taken care of Beth, Elizabeth and James. I'm handling this, son.
Phillip: I'll take it from here.
Alan: You know, Phillip, you've been gone a long time. And this family has gone through quite a bit since you've been away. Now, you can't pretend to come in here on a white horse playing a hero. You could make things worse.
Phillip: You don't want me out of here.
Alan: That is not true. We just have to do it the right way.
Phillip: Your way.
Mallet: So if it wasn't for the accident, obviously, my wife and I would be trying to have children of our own. But I guess it's not meant to be.
Woman: That's very sad.
Mallet: Well, I believe that when one door closes, another one opens. And my wife and I feel like, right now, we're in a very good position to open our hearts to a child in need.
Woman: Yes, but you can adopt in the United States, no?
Mallet: Um... yes... yes, we could. You're right, we could. But we heard about the situation here from a friend, a volunteer, and he told us all about it. So, if you let us know whatever the next step is that we need to take, we'll be happy to do whatever is required.
Woman: You're very cooperative. This is very complete.
Mallet: Good. Good. So... are we... are we good? Can I see the children?
Woman: You don't want to wait for your wife?
Mallet: Oh, she didn't come with me. My wife... my wife is back home, she's in the States. She's dealing with a death in the family.
Woman: Oh. I'm sorry, but confused.
Mallet: Well, I'm... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to mislead you.
Woman: No?
Mallet: No. No, ma'am. No, I didn’t. Mrs. Dovic, if you'll just hear me out...
Woman: Are you even married?
Mallet: Yes, ma'am.
Woman: Because, so far as I can tell, your wife exists only on paper.
Mallet: My wife is very real.
Woman: So are these children, sir. And it is our job to protect them.
Mallet: I understand that. Mrs. Dovic? Mrs. Dovic? Yeah, so, um, I don't know, I guess I need that stamped.
Woman 2: Exit visa? But this says you arrived...
Mallet: I know. I know, I know. It's a change of plans. I'm headed home.
Dinah: Sir, I am a United States citizen. I am telling you, you are making a mistake. I know him.
Man: You'll have to get clearance from the Consulate Secretary.
Dinah: Please, madam, this is important. I need your help.
Beth: Phillip.
Phillip: Hey, Beth. Thanks for coming. How are you?
Beth: I'm, um... I'm okay. What were you thinking pulling a gun at the funeral?
Phillip: I wasn't thinking. I had something to say. I'm sorry about Coop.
Beth: I really... I don't want to talk to you about Coop.
Phillip: Okay. I sent off a letter to James at school.
Beth: Yeah. Yeah, I told him that you want to see him.
Phillip: Yeah, or at least talk to him.
Beth: You know, I think that he will come around, but this whole thing has been hard on him.
Phillip: I know. For all of us.
Beth: You said that you wanted to talk about Lizzie?
Phillip: Yes. Um... what do you think of Cyrus Foley?
Beth: Um... you know, this whole situation, I think that... I think Lizzie doesn't feel that she has a lot of people that she can trust in life right now, including her parents.
Phillip: But Bill seems to think that he is the one who kidnapped her.
Beth: Well, that could be. Or it could be that Bill is looking to point the finger in another direction.
Phillip: So you don't believe him?
Beth: I don't know what to believe right now.
Phillip: Beth, listen, you know, I'm... I'm stuck in here. Until Alan’s lawyer springs me, there is very little that I can do. I need you...
Beth: I'm doing the best that I can right now.
Phillip: Hey, I'm sorry about everything that you're going through right now.
Beth: That was a beautiful speech that you made at Coop's service. You know, Phillip, a lot of people don't know what to make of you right now. And truth be told, I don't either. But I do think that you love our daughter. And I think you want to make things right with your children, to start over.
Phillip: Mmm. Wouldn't it be nice if we could start over? Go back to the beginning? Catch things before they fall and break?
Beth: Speaking of the beginning, see what I just picked up from the post office.
Phillip: What is it?
Beth: You'll see.
Phillip: (Laughs) Our reunion?
Beth: Yeah. I guess they'd want to make sure that the prom king and queen are going to be there.
Grady: Don't be stupid.
Next time, Lizzie Spaulding
won't be so easy to find.
Lizzie: Oh, hey, are you... are you alone?
Alan: As far as I know. Is someone else... are you expecting someone else?
Lizzie: No, no, no. I'm just glad to see you. What are you looking for?
Alan: Oh, my lawyer's number.
Lizzie: The one that you used for Dad?
Alan: Um, yes. You know, your father really wants to get out of jail so he can help you, Elizabeth.
Lizzie: Well, don't let him get out.
Alan: Don't worry, he's not going to get out tomorrow. It'll give us a little more time to see if he's okay here. Elizabeth, I'm in your corner. Besides, I need this number for a different matter.
Lizzie: Really? What?
Alan: I need to get a restraining order on Buzz Cooper. He's gone over to the jail and tried to turn Phillip against me.
Lizzie: I think you should just leave Buzz Cooper alone.
Alan: Leave him alone? He's a lunatic!
Lizzie: Well, I don't think that you should provoke him.
Alan: Why, did something happen?
Lizzie: No.
Alan: Elizabeth?
Lizzie: He came here, okay? But I talked him out of...
Alan: How did he get in here?
Lizzie: I don't know how he got in. But I think we should focus on the positive, and that is that he left.
Alan: Yeah, he left, until he comes back. The man is dangerous.
Lizzie: Leave him alone.
Alan: Yes, so he can plot his next revenge, is that it?
Lizzie: How many people should die before this is over?
Alan: Ask Buzz that question.
Buzz: Oh, here, come on, let me help you put those away.
Marina: I got it.
Buzz: Look what we've done to your beautiful home-- all of us moving in here.
Marina: It's okay. You know, it's just going to take a couple of days to get you and Dad settled, and then everything will be back to normal.
Buzz: Normal? Half of my kitchen is in your living room, and you know... that's normal?
Marina: We're going to get through this, all of us, together.
Buzz: Yeah, except Coop.
Marina: Except Coop.
Buzz: Alan did all of this. Look, why don't you call Mallet downstairs, and we'll get this straightened right now.
Marina: Oh, he's not home. Don't worry about it. I've got it.
Buzz: I thought he had the day off.
Marina: He does.
Buzz: Well, let's call him and get this straightened out.
Marina: You can't call him. He’s... actually, he's out of town.
Buzz: Why... why didn't you tell me?
Marina: He’s... he's just... he's checking to see if he can move us up on the adoption registry. I don't know. I guess it looks like we might have some good news soon, so...
Buzz: So, some good news, so why didn't you tell me?
Marina: I didn't want to tell you.
Buzz: Because I've been such a bastard?
Marina: No. No! Because... because I didn't want to tell you, and then if it didn't work out, it would just be another disappointment. I'm going to take this upstairs.
Buzz: I shouldn't be here. I shouldn't be here.
Dinah: What are you doing here?
Mallet: No, no, you go first. You came over here to get Shayne’s mail?
Dinah: Yes... no... not at first. Um, , .. I hurt him. I hurt him very badly. Edmund had a video of Shayne’s girlfriend.
Mallet: Laura?
Dinah: Lara.
Mallet: Lara.
Dinah: Yes. It was on his computer. And it was the only movie image either one of them had of her, and I erased it.
Mallet: By accident, right?
Dinah: No, no.
Mallet: Oh, boy, Dinah.
Dinah: Look, I know. I know. And it came from a good place, it did, but I can't tell him that. I can't explain it or make him believe that.
Mallet: So you flew to Bosnia to get Shayne’s mail?
Dinah: I came here to find something, anything of hers. Something, maybe, that was left behind.
Mallet: So you could give it then to Shayne.
Dinah: It’s... okay, it's not going to make up for what was lost but, you know, I'm giving it a shot. It turns out that she did send something to him before she died. But by the time it got to the camp, he was already in Germany. And somehow it ended up here. But he will not give it to me. And Shayne will get it-- he will get it, in a year, maybe two years, but he needs it now.
Mallet: Okay, Dinah. Nah, I'm not sure that yelling at these people is going to get you what you want, okay? So, I have found that when you want something from a bureaucracy, it helps to have a little finesse.
Dinah: Yeah, I'm all out of finesse...
Mallet: Okay, well, I work for a one, I should know that. You don't have any finesse left?
Dinah: I have none left.
Mallet: Okay, then let me try.
Dinah: You?
Mallet: Yeah, me. It might be nice for me to actually do something right today.
Beth: Crazy, huh? 25 years. (Laughs)
Phillip: Well, I knew there was a reason I had to come back to town. Although, I have a feeling I'm going to be busy that night.
Beth: Oh, I don't know, Phillip. Sometimes, it feels like it was just yesterday, and other times, it feels like...
Phillip: Somebody else's life? -Hmm.
Beth: You were in trouble even back then.
Phillip: Yeah, but you know what? We had hope. We thought that love could fix everything, didn't we?
Beth: Who knew that love could cause so much pain? (Both chuckling)
Marina: Hey.
Buzz: Hey.
Marina: You look tired.
Buzz: I am tired. It's just like someone is standing on me, you know, right here.
Marina: Why don't you go upstairs, take a nap? You'll feel better.
Buzz: You going to talk to me about your life, you know?
Marina: I know. I know. I wasn't keeping anything from you, I promise. I just... you know, I thought I'd save it for a time when we could all appreciate it.
Buzz: Well, I wouldn't rain on your parade. Which is exactly what I'm doing right now.
Marina: That’s not what I said. I'm just worried about you.
Buzz: I'm worried about me. I spent half the afternoon stalking Alan Spaulding. I'm lucky I didn't find him. I don't know what would have happened. And Lizzie’s been putting all these... uncomfortable truths in my head.
Marina: Like what?
Buzz: Like what I might be turning myself into.
Marina: Oh, now, please. Don't do this to yourself. You're grieving. This is natural.
Buzz: What I'm thinking about isn't natural. I've gotta go see him.
Marina: Go see who?
Buzz: Alan.
Marina: But you just said...
Buzz: No, I've got to clear the air. I've got to work this out. It's now or never.
Lizzie: I don't think that this is anything to get worked up about. Will you listen to me? Because Bill is saying that he isn't my kidnapper, and that Cyrus did it...
Alan: I've got to go take care of Buzz.
Lizzie: I just need someone to listen to me.
Alan: Later.
Lizzie: I need.. someone. I can't deal with this all alone. (Cell phone rings) Oh, never... ugh
Cyrus: Lizzie, glad I tracked you down. Any more problems with Bill?
Lizzie: I haven't seen him, but I'm really busy, okay? So, bye.
Cyrus: Wait, wait, wait. Business?
Lizzie: My grandfather and Buzz Cooper-- everything is a mess right now, okay? So, later.
Cyrus: Oh, I'm sorry to call at such a stressful time, but I need a little of your time.
Lizzie: Whatever it is, okay, we can talk about later.
Cyrus: I promise it will be worth your while.
Lizzie: Okay, what? What?
Cyrus: A deal, out west. And if we move fast, it's going to be huge for the company.
Lizzie: Okay, just write it up, okay?
Cyrus: What, and go through all of the channels? Look, I know that's the way it's supposed to work but, I'm telling you, this is something special.
Lizzie: I know that you would like to make your mark on this company.
Cyrus: What I want to do is prove that your faith in me wasn't misplaced.
Lizzie: Okay. What do you need me to do?
Cyrus: Just hold on a second, I'm getting a text. I'll tell you what-- let me use the jet. I’ll fly out, nail down the details, and then I'll put it all together in a nice, little package for you.
Lizzie: You're just going to fly out there by yourself?
Cyrus: I like traveling light.
Lizzie: Okay. Okay, yeah, if you feel that strongly about it, I will call over and give my permission for you to use the jet. Okay?
Cyrus: Thank you.
Beth: I will certainly keep an eye on Lizzie, and I'll encourage James to take your call next time.
Phillip: Thank you.
Beth: I'd better go before they kick me out of here.
Phillip: Oh, hey, don't forget this.
Beth: No, no. You... you hold onto that. Good for a laugh.
Phillip: That was some night, for all of us.
Mallet: Here you go.
Dinah: Seriously?
Mallet: Yeah, I guess that's it. It's no big deal. It helps to have a badge.
Dinah: Thank you.
Mallet: Yeah, you're welcome.
Dinah: Thank you.
Mallet: So, what do you do now? You... I guess, what, fly back home and give that to Shayne?
Dinah: Yeah, maybe I should just mail it.
Mallet: Mail it? After everything you went through to get your hands on it?
Dinah: Well, yeah, that way he would have it.
Mallet: Oh, right. You're not flying back home?
Dinah: Well, I don't know if there's really a reason to.
Mallet: Ah. Uh-huh. What is in that thing?
Dinah: I don't know. You got me. Maybe I should open it, you know, before I send it. Just to make sure whatever's inside of it isn't damaged.. so, now that my problems seem to be solved, why don't you tell me why you're here, halfway around the world.
Mallet: Well, it's like you-- you know, I'm here on a mission.
Alan: If he's not here, where is he?
Marina: What did you do, run all the way here?
Alan: Tell me where your grandfather is. I have some things I have to settle with him.
Marina: Go home, Alan!
Alan: I am not going to stand by and let him threaten my family!
Marina: Okay, stop! I understand that my grandfather wants to work out some of these issues with you, but today is obviously not the right occasion.
Alan: I'll be the judge of that.
Marina: (Grunts) Okay, Grandpa, time to come home. (Cell phone rings) Damn it.
Mallet: Because there's plenty of children here that need a home, and I thought I could make that happen. And, um... well, it's not as easy as I thought.
Dinah: Well, this must be very important to you.
Mallet: It is. It's very important to me. And it's important to her. And the passing of Coop is... it's been really hard on her. She loved Coop. The whole family has just been wrecked, just been destroyed. And, yeah, we really want a baby. We've always wanted a baby. The thing is is I figure a baby now—right now-- would do
Dinah: It's really something, you coming here all alone.
Mallet: Well, yeah. I should have brought her. Because I just found out they have to meet both of the parents. But that's no guarantee, because what if I would have brought her here, and what if she would have got all worked up with the possibilities and full of hope, only to have someone turn to her at the last minute and say forget it. I mean, come on, she couldn't handle that kind off disappointment right now.
Dinah: No one should have to.
Mallet: I know, but Dinah, she's going to have to because I'm going home empty-handed.
Dinah: : Not necessarily.
Mallet: Well, yeah, because I'm going home. I just told you.
Dinah: You just told me that you need a wife to adopt a baby in this country. I used to play that role. I bet I can pull it off again.
Grady: Shut up!
Cyrus: What's he been saying?
Grady: Same thing he's been saying over and over again before I put the tape on his mouth. "Lizzie!" "Lizzie!"
Cyrus: : Ah, I'm glad you can joke. We are in serious trouble.
Grady: Could go to jail.
Cyrus: Do you have it set?
Grady: Good, so it's not over yet. Where are you going to take him?
Cyrus: Some place far, far away.
Bill: (Shouts)
Officer: Can I help you?
Lizzie: Yeah, I... I'd like to see my father.
Alan: Buzz.
Buzz Alan.
Alan: I want you to stop stalking me. Do you understand? Stop going to see my son and harassing my granddaughter. Now, if you've got a problem with me, you come to me.
Buzz: I'm here.
Alan: Look I know you hate me, Buzz, fine. A lot of people in this town hate me. But I want you to know one thing-- I am not responsible for what happened to Coop. I did not kill your son!
Buzz: Oh, yes, you did.
Next on "Guiding Light",
Rick: Mindy Sue Lewis!
Mindy: Rick Bauer! Oh!
Beth: It brings back a lot of memories.
Phillip: A lot of memories.
Beth: It's a new beginning.
