Lillian: Are you talking about Beth?

Buzz: Oh, I love Beth. Unfortunately, my son also loves her.

Coop: I just need to know first. Are you going to come to Colorado with me?

Beth: My law school advisor thinks that I should go to Minnesota.

Coop: You are not going to regret this.

Alan: Well, if he thinks you should go to Minnesota, you will. And I will join you, as well as Peyton and James.

Buzz: Coop? Coop, where the hell are you going?

Coop: Leave me alone.

Buzz: Are you going over to the Spaulding place?

Coop: Yes.

Buzz: You're going to rescue Beth from Alan? You're going to tell him you're sleeping together?

Coop: Look, Dad, Beth does not belong over there. Anyone with two eyes can she that she’s not happy!

Buzz: I've got two eyes. You know what I see? I see you under Alan Spaulding’s car! Have you lost your mind?

Coop: She's living a lie, though, Dad, okay?

Buzz: She's living what she's chosen!

Coop: It's not real what she has with Alan.

Buzz: She's chosen this! She has his daughter; they have Peyton. And in their own way, they're in love together.

Coop: It's not love. She is not in love with Alan, all right? He's got some sort of... hold on her, all right? Something that I don't understand.

Buzz: No, what you don't understand is this is not a novel! You're not a knight in shining armor. You can't go over there and... this is... the dragon is real! This is real!

Coop: Listen again. I can handle Alan, all right? Stop worrying about me. I love you; I've got to go.

Buzz: Coop? Coop! Coop!

Coop: Dad, I've got to go!

Buzz: Damn it, Coop!

Alan: Well, are you all packed? Plane leaves in a couple of hours.

Beth: Hmm. It's your plane; it leaves when you say that it does.

Alan: Well, I guess you're right. Uh, tell me, Beth, do you think that you're going to be... working long hours, real busy while you're in Minnesota?

Beth: Uh... yeah.

Alan: Yeah?

Beth: Actually, I do. I think I'm going to be very busy. You know, this is going to be very boring for you.

Alan: Maybe I could bribe one of your advisors. ( Laughs )

Beth: ( Laughs halfheartedly ) Um... you know...

Alan: What?

Beth: I'm... I'm thinking about this trip, and I'm just... maybe there's still a way that I can get out of it. I'm just going to go call...

Alan: No, no, no, no, no. Beth! Beth! I'm... I'm really looking forward to this trip with you.

Beth: You're looking forward to Minnesota in the middle of the winter?

Alan: Well, what can I say? I... I like ice. I'm a big fan of it. Um... you know, my life has never been the same since you took this off your finger. I think you know how much I love you, Beth, and I... I would really love it if this trip would be a... a celebration of us. Will you marry me again?

Ashlee: So, how are you feeling?

Doris: Uh... lucky.

Ashlee: Mom, can I... can I do anything for you?

Doris: Um... I don't know, you could find out who started that fire... and who rescued me.

Ashlee: Mom, you don't remember?

Doris: No. I just remember the smoke, and then passing out and then I came here.

Ashlee: Um, excuse me. Hold on. Is there anything I can... I can get you now? Like a water, or... pudding? Or... uh... I don't know, someone's head on a platter? ( Laughter )

Doris: I'm just glad you're here. Did I see Grady out in the hall?

Ashlee: Oh, yeah, he... he brought me here.

Doris: That was nice of him to come with you.

Ashlee: He seems to really, um... care about the job.

Doris: I think he really cares about you.

Reva: Oh! You know what?

Shayne: Hey.

Reva: I'd shake you like crazy if I weren't so damn proud of you!

Josh: How are you feeling?

Shayne: I'm okay.

Reva: No burns?

Shayne: No, no burns. Just smoke inhalation.

Reva: ( Sighs ) What an amazing kid we have, huh?

Josh: Yes, we do.

Shayne: It was no big deal, you guys.

Reva: No big deal? You saved somebody's life on Christmas!

Shayne: Mom, anybody would have done it, Mom. Dad's done it!

Josh: ( Laughs ) Wait, wait, wait... wait a minute. What are you doing here? Just stay put, okay?

Shayne: I am giving the bed to somebody who actually needs it.

Josh: No.

Shayne: Would you get my chair?

Josh: You need to try this: Stay here until they actually release you, son.

Shayne: ( Sighs )

Reva: Just humor your dear old parents?

Josh: You know, if you had any doubts before about your choice, I would think that this would confirm it.

Reva: I know. I just don't know whether it's the best time to...

Josh: Well, there almost wasn't a best time.

Shayne: ( Clears throat )

Josh: Things could have turned out differently out there.

Reva: Yeah, I know, you're right.

Josh: Just a second.

Reva: Okay, listen to me. There's a reason why you stayed. I can't begin to tell you what an incredible gift you gave us by coming home, and for staying-- for whatever reason; it doesn't really matter. And I... I don't have a gift big enough to give back to you, but I do... I have an offer for you.

Shayne: You have an offer for me?

Reva: An offer. It's something that Jeffrey and I have discussed, and we've decided that we would like for you to be our baby's Godfather.

Shayne: ( Laughs ) Um... no. I'm sorry, no. Trust me... I'm not the right person for that job. Would you hand me some water, Mom? ( Coughs )

Reva: You know, I would love it if this baby turned out to be just like you.

Josh: Why are you hesitating? Is there something wrong? Son?

Reva: Okay, you know what? He doesn't have to answer right now. He doesn’t.

Shayne: Thank you.

Reva: You don’t. I... I mean, he's been through a lot today, and we understand that, but promise me one thing. That you'll at least think about it?

Shayne: Okay.

Josh: So, uh... when's the doctor going to be in again?

Shayne: I don't know, but, um... I'm a little beat, you guys. Could you give me a little bit of time to get some rest?

Reva: Oh, sure. If you...

Shayne: Would you take this for me? Thank you.

Reva: Is there anything that we can get you before we leave?

Shayne: Uh... a cold beer?

Josh: ( Laughs ) You asked!

Reva: A beer?

Shayne: "A beer?" Yeah, no beer?

Reva: No beer.

Shayne: Oh. How about you turn the lights off on your way out?

Reva: Okay.

Shayne: Okay.

Reva: I love you, my little baby boy. I do. And I'm so glad you're okay. Sleep.

Josh: No more fires!

Shayne: Tomorrow is a whole new day. ( Laughter )

Josh: That's some kid we have, huh?

Reva: Yes. Yes, he is.

Shayne: Thank you.

Ashlee: Oh, um... did you... did you find anything out?

Grady: Yeah, Shayne Lewis. It's the name of the guy who rescued your mom.

Ashlee: Shayne?

Grady: You know him?

Ashlee: Yeah, he's Reva’s son. He's, like, some sort of superhero guy. He's been doing good deeds.

Grady: Great! Another Springfield special, huh?

Ashlee: I'm really glad that he was there. So, um... what are you doing hanging out? I mean, you're off duty. You could... leave.

Grady: Well, it looks like you need me.

Ashlee: Uh... me?

Grady: Well, you went out on a limb when you got me hired. I feel like the... the nicest thing I could do is hang around, make sure you're okay. Us outsiders have got to stick together, you know? Do you mind if I borrow your phone?

Ashlee: No, you... uh, yeah, you can use it.

Grady: No, I think you can use me.

Ashlee: "Alcheringa"?

Grady: It's the God of dream time. Aborigines believe that the dream time is the source of all power. That humans can tap into it's strength. If you need me for anything-- if you get in trouble-- just text that to me and I'll be there, no questions asked.

Daisy: Hey, Harley... um, I guess we got cut off before. Not much to say, just, uh... merry Christmas. Okay... uh... I'll talk to you whenever.

Beth: I'm just checking to see if I have any messages from my study group.

Alan: Beth, I just asked you if you would marry me.

Beth: Nothing, no... no... stop it.

Alan: Beth?

Beth: I know. I...

Alan: What? What?

Beth: ( Laughs ) I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's just... um... this is very sudden. I... I need... I need some time to think about this.

Alan: Why?

Beth: Because... because... all I can think about is this trip, and... and making sure that we are not stuck in the snow someplace.

Alan: Well, you know, if we get stuck, maybe, um... we can have some fun with that, huh? ( Laughter )

Beth: Alan...

Alan: Come on. Say "yes," that's all you have to say.

Beth: I... I... I... I can’t. I can’t. I can't, I can’t.

Alan: Okay.

Beth: I can't do that right now.

Alan: All right.

Beth: I just can’t.

Alan: Okay. I'm not going to pressure you. Take your time, but I would like to start the new year knowing that you are going to be my wife. Now... why don't you try this on, and just see how it feels?

Beth: I can’t... I can't do that right now. Um... I need... I need to go check on Peyton...

Alan: No, no, no. I will do that. You, uh... just stay here with that, okay?

Beth: Good God, what are you doing here?

Coop: I came here to pick you up for our trip.

Mallet: I think we've almost got it, Buzz. Buzz?

Buzz: I need to report a stolen car.

Mallet: Your car was stolen?

Buzz: Not mine-- Coop's.

Mallet: What, just now?

Buzz: Yeah.

Mallet: He saw them drive away with it?

Buzz: What difference does it make? It's gone.

Mallet: Well, I mean... well, Coop's not here, either. Maybe he took it.

Buzz: No, look, are you going to report this or not? Time is running out.

Mallet: Okay, hold on, hold on. The car was stolen, or do you... do you want the police to stop Coop? What's going on?

Buzz: He's about to make a big mistake.

Mallet: What kind of mistake?

Buzz: I can't say.

Mallet: Well, Buzz, I can't file a... a false report. I can put a call in and...

Buzz: Well, do what you can!

Mallet: Would you talk to me? What kind of trouble is he in? Real trouble?

Buzz: I can't wait around here.

Mallet: Buzz, come on!

Mallet: Well... well, well, well. So, what? No apology?

Shayne: What am I apologizing for?

Mallet: For ruining my wedding? Don't you remember rolling in here and starting a brawl? By the way, uh, Marina and I did end up getting married.

Shayne: Yeah, I heard about that. Good for you.

Mallet: Thank you.

Shayne: Happy for you!

Mallet: Good.

Shayne: Yeah. 100 years of happiness.

Mallet: Seriously, what's your problem?

Shayne: What?

Mallet: What's your problem? I mean, I've heard Marina tell me that she thought you were a nice guy.

Shayne: Yeah, well, that was a long time ago, wasn't it?

Mallet: You know what? Maybe your family has to put up with your crap, but I'm not going to put up with it, okay? So if you want to be miserable, you be miserable, all right? But don't take it out on me, and don't you dare take it out on my wife. You got me? Matter of fact, why don't you just stay away from Marina? ( Cell phone rings ) Yeah, Mallet. Yeah? Well, actually, I don't have to look. He's right here. Yeah, okay. All right. Well, what do you know? Looks like I've got to take you in.

Beth: Alan just went upstairs to check on Peyton.

Coop: Oh, speaking of Peyton, I brought a gift. It comes with batteries; they're right here. I'm pretty good with kids.

Beth: Oh, that was so sweet! It's sweet... I... thank you, but Alan is going to be back down any minute.

Coop: It's his house. He can do whatever he wants.

Beth: That's what I'm afraid of!

Coop: What is it about Alan? Why are you so afraid? Beth, is this why you're staying here? I know you want to come with me; you've told me that you do.

Beth: It's not that easy!

Coop: It is that easy. It can be that easy. All you have to do is walk away. Just tell him that you don't want to be with him anymore. Tell him that you want something else-- that you deserve something better. Beth, look, I don’t... I don't understand... I don't get this, all right? What is it about this life that you're holding on to?

Beth: Coop... what we had...

Coop: What we have, Beth. What we have is something that is so spectacular; it's so amazing. You know this, and I do. Why... why won't you leave this guy? Is it the money? Name? Power? It... I mean, if it's any of that stuff, I get it, okay? I... I understand that. Just say the word and I will back away, because I know that is something that I will never be able to give you-- any of it.

Beth: It's not the money.

Coop: Then why won't you come with me?

Beth: I can't just go with you.

Coop: You can! You... why? You don't love Alan.

Beth: I do love Alan.

Coop: You care for Alan, all right? You've got a child together. I get that; I understand that, all right? But he can't give you what you deserve.

Beth: Coop...

Coop: Come here... stop.

Beth: I...

Coop: Just... what do you want to do right now? Forget everything, okay? Just listen to your heart. What is your heart telling you to do right now? Grab a bag. Go get it and let's go. Just walk away and end things, okay?

Alan: Beth? Beth? Oh... I... I just told our daughter that I proposed to you, and she approves, right, Peyton? ( Laughs ) yes. Yeah. What are you doing here? Well, Mr. Bradshaw, can I help you with something?

Coop: Just came to talk to Beth.

Alan: Really? About what?

Coop: I came because...

Alan: What?

Coop: Because she left her gloves and scarf at Company, and I wanted to return them because I'm sure she was going to need them when she went to Minnesota, because it is very, very cold there, right?

Beth: Right, right. Thank you.

Alan: Anything else?

Coop: I don't know. Is there anything else? Well, then, I guess not. Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas.

Alan: Same to you.

Buzz: Hey, whoa, whoa! Your limbs are in tact; I'm grateful.

Coop: She's going to marry him.

Buzz: Of course, she's going to marry him. What did you think?

Coop: You know, I don't even care. Let's just get the hell out of here, please?

Alan: I think this time, we should have a large wedding. I think that's what we deserve. Elizabeth will be the bridesmaid, Emma will be the flower girl... that sounds good. Yeah, and we deserve to have a great wedding this time. I made a lot of mistakes, and we've been through a lot together, Beth. Lost a child... but we have Peyton right now! And that's a good enough answer for us to stay together, huh? We have it all. All we have to do is keep the rest for the world in their place, huh? ( Chuckles )

Beth: Um... would you like a drink?

Alan: Oh, I'd love a drink. Yes! And Peyton and I can read! Come over here. And I am going to treat your mommy so well this time! I'll even baby-sit you, and we can read books while she's studying her law and becoming a famous attorney. That's what she wants to be.

Beth: I just want to be happy.

Alan: Well, you just take your time. Take your time, Peyton, and I'll just stay here, and maybe someday you'll decide to come and spend some time with us. After all, I think we can be pretty entertaining, can't we? ( Baby babbles ) Yes! Oh, cup... cup. Yeah. And one day, Elizabeth and James-- they'll all be here together under one roof. How did that sound, huh?

Beth: Sounds like a plan.

Alan: Yeah, sounds like a plan. Well, let's go read, okay? Come on, come on. Yeah. Your mommy got me a drink. There you go. You know, Peyton, I think your mommy's coming around, huh? ( Baby babbles ) ( laughter ) To us! To us! ( Baby babbles )

Ashlee: Hi.

Daisy: Hey! So your mom's going to be okay?

Ashlee: Uh... uh, yeah. I think so. You know Doris-- indestructible.

Daisy: Yeah, I'm glad.

Ashlee: Yeah, me, too. You know, not much has changed, though. She still hates the food at Cedar's, so she sent me over here to pick her up something.

Grady: One slice of pumpkin pie for Doris. There's no ice cream, sorry. They're all out. Is that okay?

Ashlee: No ice cream? You're fired! ( Laughter )

Daisy: It's good to see you guys getting along.

Ashlee: Yeah, you have no idea. I mean, I was at the hospital before, and they weren't going to let me in because I forgot my I.D., but Grady took care of everything.

Daisy: Well, I'm not surprised.

Ashlee: It was really so much easier facing Doris today with Grady there.

Grady: It's no problem.

Ashlee: You're really lucky to have him.

Daisy: I know.

Ashlee: Okay... um, I better get back. Thank you. Thanks again.

Daisy: People are actually starting to like you! It's crazy!

Grady: Well, the only people I'm interested in liking me is you. So how did it go with your family? Did you have a good time?

Daisy: ( Sighs )

Grady: What?

Daisy: It’s... you surprise me. It’s... that's really great, what you did for Ashlee.

Grady: That's my job, right?

Daisy: Your other job is taking care of me.

Grady: Hmm.

Daisy: Um, we need to get these toys and the batteries over to the toy drive.

Grady: Okay, so we pick that up, take them to the hospital and then I get you home.

Daisy: Yeah.

Grady: Hmm... I like that plan.

Daisy: Let's go.

Shayne: All right, what is this all about, exactly?

Mallet: Thought I'd take you to a wedding.

Shayne: That's clever... that's really good. No, no, no, no, no, no, no! What is this?

Doris: Mr. Lewis... Shayne.

Shayne: Yeah?

Doris: I'm Mayor Doris Wolfe, and you saved my life today. I just want to tell you, on behalf of myself and my family and the town of Springfield, we want to honor you. You're a hometown hero. You know, we teach our children that superheroes are these beings that can fly and leap over lighthouses, but I'm telling you that this man right here is an actual hero. When you rolled into the fire with so much courage-- I just have never met anyone with that amount of bravery, and on behalf of the people of Springfield, I'd like to present you with the Badge of Light. Would you like to pin it on him, Reva?

Reva: Oh, yes. I'd be honored.

Shayne: Okay. Well, thank you.

Reva: I love you.

Shayne: Hmm.

Reva: I'm very proud of you.

Shayne: Mm-hmm.

Reva: Uh-huh.

Shayne: Hmm.

Josh: Congratulations.

Shayne: Hmm. Mm-hmm... um... are we, uh... are we all... I don't know why everyone's making such a big deal about this. It's really...

Josh: Look, I know you don't think of yourself as a hero, but we do.

Doris: And you know, I can't ever repay you, but if you ever need anything, then you call me.

Shayne: Great. I will. Thank you. I'm just happy that you're okay.

Doris: Merry Christmas.

Shayne: Thank you. That... that's it, right? Are we done?

Doris: Yes.

Shayne: Okay. Excuse me.

Josh: Hey, you guys want to grab a bite to eat somewhere? Maybe celebrate?

Reva: Uh, I... I need to get home to Jeffrey.

Josh: Okay. Uh... how about tomorrow?

Reva: Tomorrow, actually, I have chemo, and that kind of knocks me out for the rest of the day.

Shayne: Must be hell, Mom.

Reva: No, it's not that bad. I just lay around anyway and listen to music that Jeffrey puts together for me. But can I get you anything before I go?

Shayne: I'm fine.

Josh: I guess we should just go, then. I'm proud of you.

Reva: Congratulations again, you big hero, you! Ooh!

Shayne: Hmm! Mom? Um... about being the Godfather to your baby, um... the answer's yes. Yes... yes, I can do it. Okay?

Reva: Okay. Okay. Oh! ( Laughs )

Daisy: ( Sighs ) So much for just stopping by and seeing my family.

Grady: We have plenty of time to be together.

Daisy: Yeah. I want to thank you for helping my friend. It means a lot to me-- and to Ashlee.

Grady: That's me, huh? A regular superhero.

Daisy: You're my hero. Hey!

Grady: Hey, what?

Daisy: We didn't open our gifts yet!

Grady: Aw! Well, maybe we can cash them in and get another night in this room.

Daisy: You didn't spend that much, did you?

Grady: Don't worry. The best things in life are for free.

Daisy: You didn't!

Grady: I believe stealing takes more time than preparation.

Daisy: Are you kidding?

Grady: You'll have to wait and see.

Daisy: Oh! ( Cell phone rings )

Grady: Oh, just leave it.

Daisy: I can’t. It might be my dad. Hello? Hello? I... I can barely hear you. Harley! Hi! I can't believe you called me back. What time is it over there?

Coop: "He left, saying, 'don't be afraid, because I'm not.'"

Ashlee: Knock, knock. I, uh...

Coop: Hey.

Ashlee: I didn't know anyone was going to be here, so... I, uh, just thought I'd stop in and get my mom some... some leftovers.

Coop: Sure. Sure, you know? We can... we can find something for you to bring over to her. Um... how's your mom doing, by the way?

Ashlee: She's a little mushy, but I think she'll be okay.

Coop: Hmm. That's to be expected with a near death experience.

Ashlee: Yeah. So, uh... you're writing again.

Coop: Trying.

Ashlee: Well, is it any good?

Coop: ( Laughs ) We'll see.

Ashlee: If you want me to edit something, you know, give me a few pages. I'll give you some feedback.

Coop: I might just take you up on that.

Ashlee: "She looked at him, tears in her eyes. 'You don't under...'"

Coop: Um... you know what? Um... it's not really ready to be read yet.

Ashlee: Uh... this must be about your new girl. Um... I... I guess it's going pretty well.

Coop: Um... actually, it's not going anywhere at all. Except on the hard drive. It's complete fiction, anyways.

Ashlee: I don't believe that for a minute. This is big time love for you, Coop Cooper.

Coop: Uh... did your mom want turkey, or did she want ham, by the way? Which one did she like more?

Ashlee: Um...

Alan: Beth... I think, um... I think I need a cup of coffee.

Beth: Well, why don't you get some sleep, Alan?

Alan: No, no, no, no. I'll... I'll sleep on the plane.

Beth: Oh, come on. You can relax, you can close your eyes.

Alan: Hmm...

Beth: Take a little nap. Alan? Alan.

Lillian: Well, Beth, honey, I'd like to talk to you-- uh, if Alan doesn't mind-- in private?

Beth: No, no, go ahead. He'll be dead to the world until tomorrow.

Lillian: Tomorrow?

Beth: I slipped him a couple of sleeping pills.

Lillian: You what? Are you out of your mind? I know just why you're doing this, sweetie. You're... oh, Beth! Beth... Beth!

Beth: Mom, Mom, Mom... stop!

Lillian: You did this so you can be with Cooper. Are you crazy, honey? What are you thinking of?

Beth: "She has the ethereal beauty of a movie star in the '30's-- lit from within with a Technicolor glow. The intelligence, wit and wisdom of an ageless sorceress. She was magic, and the most wonderful thing about her was she didn't know it."

Lillian: You are the most beautiful, wonderful woman in the world. It's no wonder Coop is dazzled by you.

Beth: Don't you get it?

Lillian: I get it!

Beth: It's been so long since...

Lillian: I get it! It's not... Phillip. Coop is not Phillip!

Beth: This is not about Phillip!

Lillian: Yes, it is about Phillip. Every single thing is about Phillip! Alan is about Phillip! Get your head together, sweetie. Where are you going? Where?

Beth: I'm going to go!

Lillian: I know where you're going. And what am I doing with sleeping beauty? Oh, God, Beth.

Ashlee: I have a confession to make. I, uh... I lied to you. I... I told you I was seeing someone, and I'm not. I mean, I've dated-- I've gone on dates-- and the guys are nice and all, but they're just not right. I... just didn't want you to think that I was sitting at home with my cat.

Coop: Ashlee, you don't have a cat.

Ashlee: I could have a cat.

Coop: You could have a cat.

Ashlee: Moxie likes cats.
