Woman: Are you all right?
Remy: I won't let anything happen to you or the baby, okay? I promise.
Bill: I lost something, too. You.
Mel: Ava Peralta?
Remy: She's having his kid, what am I supposed to do?
Jeffrey: Bill does not love my daughter. All he cares about is that baby.
Lizzie: The baby's not Bill's.
Jeffrey: I think you know what to do.
Lizzie: Ava, Ava, Ava! You're a lot smarter than I thought you were.

(Knock on the door)
Ava: Olivia? That better be you with some more eggs. (Laughs) Hey.
Bill: Oh, my goodness. Do you think you can save a little room for the wedding cake?
Ava: What are you doing here?
Bill: (Laughs) Well, that's a hell of a question to ask the man you're about to marry.
Ava: I mean not now-- I just... I mean now.
Bill: Why do you think I only opened the door a crack? All right, all right. I understand. I can leave if you want me to.
Ava: Uh-uh. Come in.
Bill: (Humming) Hey.
Ava: Hi.
Bill: Come to me.
Ava: Say please.
Bill: Happy wedding day.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na
na, na, na, na, na,
na, na, na, na, na, na, na na, na, na, na, na
that's okay, it's okay.
Do what you want
that's okay.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na
na, na, na, na, na,
na, na, na, na, na, na, na
na, na, na, na, na
Bill: What's wrong?
Ava: (Laughs) Must be the eggs.
Bill: What?
Ava: The eggs-- he's kicking. (Laughter)
Bill: Oh, boy. (Laughs) Oh, my goodness!
Ava: Ooh!
Bill: Or maybe he's just thrilled that Mommy and Daddy are making it honest, maybe. Yeah?
Ava: I don't know, but he definitely knows something is going on, that's for sure.
Bill: And maybe he's telling me, "Let's get on with it." Right? (Clears throat)
Ava: You already showed me the rings.
Bill: I did.
Ava: Yeah.
Bill: That's true. But, um... did I show you this? May I?
Ava: Yes.
Bill: Yeah? There it is. Oh, my goodness. Stunning.
Ava: Yeah, it is. It really is. It's beautiful.
Bill: I mean you. You are.
Ava: Stop. You're not so bad yourself.
Bill: Not so bad?
Ava: No. I don't want you to get a big head.
Bill: Hey, it's my wedding day. It's my wedding day. You know who's going to be here today?
Ava: Who?
Bill: Everyone. Everyone, because this whole town-- they're pulling for us. They're rooting for us.
Ava: Yeah?
Bill: Yeah. The hottest ticket in town.
Ava: Well, as long as our friends and family are there.
Bill: Absolutely. Absolutely.
Billy: Yeah, Bill, this is your dad. I know this is-- I'm probably the last one you want to hear from on your wedding day. But, um... I'm worried about you. And, uh, I get it that you want to be a better dad than me, and I think you're going to be one hands down. It's just that I-- I don't really feel that you need to marry somebody who you don't love in order to do that. I mean, I don't think it's fair to you. And I don't think it's fair to Ava, I don't think...
Reva: You want some backup?
Billy: I was just leaving a message for Bill.
Reva: I know. I can tell.
Billy: It probably wouldn't make a difference. He's going to hang up as soon as he hears my voice, anyway, and erase. What are you doing here?
Reva: I'm trying to get a little girl time.
Billy: Oh, can I join you?
Reva: Yeah. You're here to see Ruby--
Billy: Yeah?
Reva: You're girlfriend Ruby.
Billy: Maybe I should do a little more than see her.
Reva: Oh, she's--
Billy: She's nice.
Reva: I know, I like her. She's in the back somewhere trying to find me my favorite foot scrub.
Billy: Oh, right. Maybe I should get a foot scrub.
Reva: Really?
Billy: Yeah.
Reva: Well, if you decide to do that, do me a favor, let me leave first before you take your boots off.
Billy: Oh, come on, darling. I'm all stressed out.
Reva: Oh, yeah.
Billy: This wedding--
Reva: Come on, get over it. Really. You can get your nails buffed, though. Actually, you could get a foot scrub, and then that would lead to a pedicure, which before you know it, bam, you've got a full spa day.
Billy: (Laughs) Well, actually, I'm looking for a little more than nail buff.
Reva: Ruby!
Billy: (Laughs) (laughter)
Reva: Ruby, get in here! Get in here now. I need some help. I also need to get moving. I have a wedding to go to. So do you.
Billy: Yeah.
Olivia: So I think we're all set. And we have a plan "B" in case it starts to rain.
Dinah: Well, I'm very happy that we managed to keep this ceremony exclusive. And, I'll tell you something, the paparazzi? They're going to be begging for the "I do" footage.
Olivia: That was so smart. And I'm glad to hear you say that.
Dinah: Why?
Olivia: Well, it's their day. And our part is just to keep a low profile, and I will.
Dinah: Hmm, I don't like limitations. I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
Olivia: I know.
Dinah: This is going to be a perfect day for Bill and Ava, and I welcome Ava into our family, really.
Olivia: That is so good to hear, because, you know, once she's married, she's going to be the lady of the house.
Dinah: Yes. Yes, she will be. My house. My house... and Bill's.
(Telephone rings)
Ava: Hello?
Remy: Hey. Hey, I'm locked out. I gave my key back when Bill tossed me out.
Ava: Where are you?
Remy: You married yet?
Ava: (Scoffs) No. What is that supposed to mean?
Remy: Well, let me in. I have something to tell you.
Ava: I don't think that's a good idea.
Remy: Even if I tell you something really important? Hello?
That's okay
that's okay
do what you want
that's okay
na, na, na, na, na, na, na
na, na, na, na, na,
na, na, na, na, na, na, na
na, na, na, na, na
na, na, na, na, na, na, na
na, na, na, na, na
Dinah: Sneaking around always makes me hungry. Would you like some?
Lizzie: No, no, no. Don't do this, come on. I need to talk to Bill!
Dinah: "Oh, Bill, don't do this. I know that you say that you love her, but it can't be true...
Lizzie: Stop, stop, stop!
Dinah: ...Even though you set up this entire, huge wedding, and invited everyone who is anyone, in your heart I know you don't love her because you love me, Bill! Me!"
Lizzie: I'm not like that!
Dinah: And I'll tell you something, I'm not even going to mention the baby. Do you like people thinking your crazy?
Lizzie: I'm not crazy.
Dinah: Lizzie, he has given up. He doesn't want you anymore. Do you really think it's flattering following him around everywhere he goes? It's not. It's annoying.
Lizzie: I just needed to talk to him.
Dinah: Why are you doing this to yourself?
Lizzie: I don't know. That's a good question. I don't know.
Dinah: You're going to have to turn this into a positive.
Lizzie: Why do you care so much about this wedding? What has Bill done for you?
Dinah: She stays out.
Reva: Jeffrey's as worried as you are-- he is. But I think Ava and Bill have a real shot. I do. I mean, maybe it's because I had love sneak up on me when I least expected it, but it does happen.
Billy: But, this is different. I mean, you and I both had that big, earth-shattering love. And I think everyone should have that, even if it goes away. I think that's what Bill and Lizzie have. I mean, if you're in a room with them, you feel it. Bill looks at her the same way I used to look-- well, I still look at Vanessa that way. The same way Josh still looks at you.
Reva: Oh, wait a second. No, don't do that. Did you give Bill the speech, the pre-wedding speech?
Billy: He wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise.
Reva: Well, he needs to hear it, Billy. He does. I think he's trying to embrace his responsibility to Ava and that baby. He wants the family.
Billy: He wants to give them what I never gave him because I was drinking.
Reva: We all want things that we didn't have, Billy. I'm still that hungry little girl that was so uncomfortable going to those big, fancy parties, or living in the big house. And you're still haunted by the fact that your drinking nearly destroyed Vanessa and Bill, not to mention your own daddy.
Billy: Reva, you know what I really want? I want it to be easier for him. I want him to be happy.
Reva: Give him the speech! It's family tradition.
Billy: Yeah, well, he's not really interested in the family.
Reva: You're wrong. You really are so wrong, Billy. I know our kids are spread out all over God's green earth-- I know that. And I know they want to run for their lives sometimes, but they need us. And at the end of the day, their choices are their choices. They don't want us telling them what to do. They want to figure out what they should do on their own. But they will invite us to go along for the ride, right? I mean, because we're family. They need us to go on the ride.
Billy: I think I'm going to get car sick.
Reva: Well, get over it!
Billy: Yeah.
Reva: Your son's trying to step up today. Maybe he knows something we don't know. It's a glorious day for a wedding! And if it's meant to be, it will be. And if it's not meant to be, they'll survive. We did.
Bill: Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo. Doo, doo, doo, doo, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop.
Remy: That stung. That stung.
Ava: I wasn't aiming for you, I promise.
Remy: Uh-huh. If that would be Bill, it would probably be a brick.
Ava: Hey, watch how you talk about the man I'm about to marry. (Laughs) It's a joke. (Laughter)
Remy: (Laughs) Oh, so you're saying your marrying Bill is a joke? Finally, we both agree.
Ava: I didn't mean it like that.
Remy: Uh-huh.
Ava: Yeah. Any guy who would walk in on my wedding day and give me grief, I'd normally whack them in the head.
Remy: So, I get a free pass?
Ava: Your pass is running out.
Remy: Oh, okay. I'm not the one who panicked and had to go to the hospital.
Ava: We've already talked about this.
Remy: We didn't finish.
Ava: (Sighs) I have to get ready.
Remy: Or don't-- you don't have to get ready. He's wrong for you.
Ava: You make it sound like...
Remy: Like what?
Ava: I don't know. Just forget it.
Remy: No, no. I can’t. I can't forget it.
Ava: We are having a baby together, Bill and I. Okay? That's it. What makes you think that you're so sure?
Remy: Because I know both of you.
Ava: No, you don't know both of us. You think you know both of us.
Remy: No, no. I know you, Ava, I know you, and you know it, too.
Ava: The only thing that I know is that in a couple of hours, I will be Mrs. Bill Lewis. Now, if I have contractions during the ceremony, you will be the first one I call.
All these faces look the
same
but it's not you
there's smoke...
Reva: Oh! (Laughs)
Lizzie: Sorry, I...
Reva: ...I wasn't expecting you to be...
Lizzie: I didn't mean to startle you.
Reva: That's okay.
Lizzie: Getting ready to go out?
Reva: Well, yeah, I am. Jeffrey actually was up and out early this morning.
Lizzie: Oh.
Reva: I'm sorry about all of this. I really am. I mean, I just-- I have to go to the wedding.
Lizzie: No, I know. Bill. I get it.
Reva: I know.
Lizzie: Yeah.
Reva: Bill is my nephew, and Ava is Jeffrey’s daughter...
Lizzie: Yeah, I got the whole family tree down. (Laughs) Um, where's Jonathan? I really need to know.
Reva: I think he's between places. But I'm sure that eventually, when he lands somewhere, he'll let me know. But until then, I just...
Lizzie: If you know anything, I just-- please.
Reva: I don’t. Lizzie, I swear I don’t. If I did, I'd tell you.
Lizzie: Okay.
Reva: What, are you thinking about Sarah?
Lizzie: Yeah. I just really miss my daughter.
Reva: Or is it that you just don't want to have to think about Bill's baby or...
Lizzie: Do I need a reason to want to see my daughter?
Dinah: Oh, you look spiffy.
Bill: You, too, sis.
Dinah: Thank you.
Bill: Yeah. Everything okay out here?
Dinah: Yes. Everything is fine. I don't want you to worry about one little thing. You just chill.
Bill: Was Lizzie here?
Dinah: Yes. She was, all right? But she's gone now.
Bill: Yeah? What did she want?
Dinah: I don't know. She's nuts. She's lost complete control of herself.
Bill: Why didn't come and tell me that she was here?
Dinah: Because I handled it, all right? You don't have anything to worry about.
Bill: Well, this is my wedding... do not handle me.
Dinah: Okay.
Bill: Okay? Good.
Dinah: I wouldn't think of it.
Bill: Okay. Well, next time, let me deal with Lizzie.
Dinah: Fine. Fine.
Bill: All right.
Dinah: Fine, she's all yours. But you may not want to tell Ava that.
Bill: It's beautiful, right?
Dinah: Yes.
Bill: Yeah.
Dinah: Here, let me fix your tie. Come here. You need to look good for your guests.
Bill: Yeah. Have you seen Matt?
Dinah: No.
Bill: No?
Dinah: He hasn't showed up yet. But he'll be here. It's a nice gig. I hope it won't bother Billy too much?
Bill: Nah, he'll deal with it. You know what Olivia tells me?
Dinah: What?
Bill: The blogs? They're buzzing about today's event.
Dinah: Good.
Bill: Yes, because it's the hottest ticket... hey, what's up?
Olivia: Have you seen Jeffrey?
Reva: So... what can I get you, besides Jonathan’s address?
Lizzie: Um...
Reva: Maybe two minutes with Bill? I mean, I heard you. Is there something you need to say to him?
Lizzie: There is something that I should tell him. Or not. I don't know. I don't know if it's my place.
Reva: Well, I won't ask.
Lizzie: I just don't know what the right thing to do is.
Reva: Oh, and you're coming to me to ask that question? Wow, careful, girl.
Lizzie: Oh, I don't know why I'm here.
Reva: For this? Oh, baby, you know what? You need to go for a spa treatment or something. You know, a massage or a nice, long bubble bath. Anything to take your mind off of what's going on today. Because you never know, I mean, tomorrow could be a whole other story.
Lizzie: Yeah, maybe. I'm going to go.
Reva: Lizzie? Be good.
Bill: Voice mail. Hey, Jeffrey, just a reminder, your daughter is getting married today. It would be nice if you show up. All right, great. Thank you.
Olivia: Reva said he was out early.
Bill: Well, Ava is counting on him.
Olivia: I know that. He's supposed to be here. Did you try the office?
Dinah: I tried the office. Okay, okay, okay. Hold on a second, okay? He's her dad. Of course he's going to be here, right?
Olivia: I've called everywhere I know.
Bill: Okay. Listen, let's just-- let's take a breather. Okay? I'm on it. I'm going to go find him.
Dinah: No, you can't! The guests are here. You can't go anywhere.
Bill: I have to do that, okay? Just keep Ava out of the loop, okay?
Dinah: All right. Okay. Nothing is going to spoil this day.
Bill: No!
Dinah: Don't worry.
Just lay it on me.
Dinah: What are you glaring at? It's your family that's M.I.A.
Olivia: Let's just hope Bill finds what he is looking for.
Just lay it on me.
Ava: Damn it! (Sighs)
Olivia: Oh, oh. You know what? We'll cut it out later. Don't worry about it. So, guess what? I have some sage maternal advice for you. Do you want it? Because I've been practicing in front of the mirror for hours.
Ava: Go for it. Go for it.
Olivia: Okay. Do as I say, not as I did. Just try and keep focused. Every time I met a man and I fell in love with him, I swore I would do it right this time. And every single time I would put on that darn white dress, and something would happen. I just keep sabotaging my own happiness.
Ava: Well, maybe it's because you haven't met the right guy.
Olivia: Hmm.
Ava: I definitely see a white dress in your future.
Olivia: Don't say those words! It's bad luck. Anyway, I'm happy for you. You're going to do this marriage thing right. I know you will. You deserve good things. You're better than me.
Ava: Oh, no, I'm not better than you.
Olivia: Yes, you are-- or you will be. I see it.
Ava: I tricked Bill.
Olivia: You're both happy. What else is there?
Ava: Yeah. I love you.
Olivia: I love you, too. And you look really beautiful.
Ava: (Laughs) Thanks. Have you seen Jeffrey around here anywhere? Is he...
Olivia: Uh, he's on his way.
Bill: Hey.
Reva: Uh-oh. Change your mind? Looking for a hideout?
Bill: No. Actually, I'm looking for your boyfriend.
Reva: He didn't get to the house yet?
Bill: Uh-uh.
Reva: That's weird.
Bill: Yeah. Well, how do we find him?
Reva: Ah, I'd check work or-- work.
Bill: You work with the guy, and that's all you've got? Come on, Reva.
Reva: I don't work with him. I live with him.
Bill: Yeah, well...
Reva: But, you know, it’s... I mean, he's pretty easy to track down.
Bill: Oh, yeah. Well, it would be nice if he dropped in on his daughter’s... the most important day in his daughter's life.
Reva: Bill, he knows what time everything is getting started. He does.
Bill: Yeah?
Reva: Did Billy give you the speech yet?
Bill: Dad and I don't talk much, so...
Reva: He's going to be there, right?
Bill: Well, he better be there.
Reva: You mean he may not get there in time before things get crazy?
Bill: What are you talking about?
Reva: The speech-- Bill, the speech! It's family tradition!
Bill: Oh, no...
Reva: Before any Lewis gets ready to walk the plank-- I mean the aisle-- it's never too late, you know, to change your mind!
Bill: Too late for what?
Reva: To change your mind. I mean, if it's not what you... right up to the "I dos," you can walk away.
Bill: Now, why would I do that?
Reva: Well, in case it's not what you want to do, or what you need to do, you can just walk away because, you know, we'll take care of it. We're a judge-free zone.
Bill: Okay, what kind of crazy tradition is this?
Reva: I believe it was started by your great grandfather or something. Avoided a lot of disasters.
Bill: I'm sure it did.
Reva: Seriously. And if there is any fallout at all, we'll take care of it.
Bill: Okay. I appreciate that, Reva, I really, really do. Thank you.
Reva: Good.
Bill: But there is going to be no fallout, thank you.
Reva: Well, all I'm saying is if there is...
Bill: All I'm saying is this: Ava, she's the one I want to marry. She's carrying my child.
Reva: Good. Good, I'm glad. I'm very proud of you, that you made a good choice.
Bill: That makes me feel so good.
Reva: Yeah.
Bill: I'm proud of myself.
Reva: Yeah.
Bill: And you look fantastic, by the way.
Reva: Thank you.
Bill: All right. I have to go.
Reva: Go.
Bill: Okay.
Reva: What? Now you're scaring me?
Bill: No. If Jeffrey shows up, send him my way.
Reva: I will.
Bill: Yeah. Did he show up?
Dinah: No, but you have to get back. The guests are starting to arrive.
Bill: I know.
Dinah: Put these over there. Okay, thank you. Hello!
Bill: Did he show?
Dinah: Not yet. I don't want you to worry, all right.
Bill: I'm not worried. I'm not worried. I just don't want Ava to get stressed, that's all.
Dinah: Are you sure you're feeling all right?
Bill: Why do you say that?
Dinah: You look pale.
Bill: Well, maybe because I raced to get back here, that's why. Pale. Is that Congressman Watkins?
Dinah: Yes.
Bill: It is, isn't it? Excuse me. Hey, Congressman, how are you?
That's okay, it's okay. Do what you want
that's okay. That's okay.
Dinah: Hopefully Jeffrey.
Olivia: Okay, I don't see him. Where is he?
Dinah: Reva, please tell me that Jeffrey is parking the car.
Reva: Well, I could tell you that, but it would be a lie. (Laughs) Hi, Olivia.
Olivia: Welcome.
Reva: You guys have done a really incredible job here. Is there champagne?
Dinah: Things are about to get started, and I'd think you'd care that he pulled a no-show.
Reva: Is there bourbon?
Dinah: No.
Security: You're not on the list.
Remy: Right. Okay, so... let me in.
Security: Maybe you didn't hear...
Remy: No, I heard you just fine. But, I mean, come on, let's go.
Security: Why should I...
Remy: Dude, you're not on the list. Neither are the caterers or me. What do we have in common? Ding, ding, ding, we're working here. I'm not a guest. Pregnant bride, it's a hot day. You know what, it's fine, I'll go. But if they need a medical tech here and you can't find one, it's on your head.
Security: Wait!
Remy: Thanks.
Dinah: Okay, let's get this show on the road. You look beautiful!
Ava: I look huge.
Dinah: In a good way!
Ava: Oh, gosh. I shouldn't even be here, Dinah.
Dinah: Oh, come on.
Ava: It's completely wrong.
Dinah: What is? What is wrong? Look at yourself in the mirror.
Ava: Oh.
Dinah: You're a vision.
Ava: Oh, yeah. I-- I don't know. Maybe it's just my hormones talking.
Dinah: Well, you tell them to zip it.
Ava: I don't know. It's just... do you think I'm doing this all wrong? This whole... I'm huge, walking down the aisle-- waddling down the aisle. I'm doing it totally backwards. Aren't you supposed to fall in love, and then get married and then have children?
Dinah: You're thinking about this way too much, sweetie.
Ava: Well, it's kind of hard not to.
Dinah: This isn't traditional. But it's smart, and you're smart. And you saw the guy you wanted and the kind of life you can have for yourself, and now you can have both.
Olivia: Okay, time to get your gown on.
Ava: What time is it?
Olivia: It's that time... if you're ready.
Ava: Um... I'm ready.
Olivia: Okay.
Bill: Remy, you here for Ava? Is the baby all right?
Remy: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, the baby is fine. I just got off my shift, and I thought I would come by, and...
Bill: You didn't happen to see Jeffrey, did you?
Remy: No.
Bill: No. Well, that's great.
Remy: Uh, I have a question for you, Bill. Do you love her?
Bill: She's the mother of my child, Remy.
Remy: Yeah, I get that. I get that you love your child. But do you love her?
Bill: Let me ask you a question. What are you doing here?
Remy: Do you love her, Bill?
Bill: It's a private party, Remy. You better leave.
Remy: That's all I needed to know.
Olivia: Just a few more minutes.
Ava: Why hasn't Jeffrey come to see me?
Olivia: He will, honey. He will. Wow, now your veil's a little bit crooked, but then your fine. Look at that. Look at you! You want to give us a twirl?
Ava: I'll get dizzy.
Dinah: Just one. Just one.
Olivia: There you go. You look so beautiful. Honey...
Ava: I'm so happy. (Cries) I'm so happy! Oh, my necklace... Bill gave me a necklace, and I left it upstairs.
Dinah: Okay. I'll get it for you.
Ava: No, no. That's okay. I know right where it is. I'll get it. Thank you.
I never really cared about the things I never got to say...
Dinah: All right, while we have a moment, I'm going to go outside and make sure all of the guests are being seated, all right?
Ava: Okay. Can you see if you can find my dad?
Olivia: He might think you're in another wing. You know, I'll find him. It's going to be a magical day.
Ava: Yeah, it will. Okay. Okay.
Remy: Maybe it's a sign.
Ava: I thought you left.
Remy: I came back. Uh... just... if you forgot this, maybe you know you're making a mistake.
Ava: Oh, please don't do this right now.
Remy: I was hoping... before I was just trying to give you a chance to say something.
Ava: To say what?
Remy: There's not time.
Ava: What are you talking about?
Remy: There's no time. I have to say it. I just have to say it.
Ava: Say what?
Remy: I'm in love with you. Ava, I'm in love with you. Don't marry Bill. Be with me. I love you. I love you. We can get out of here right now, together.
Bill: (Sighs)
I know it's hard to let go...
Bill: What are you doing here, Lizzie?
Lizzie: I...
Bill: No, no, no. No, no, no. You cannot be here. I'm getting married today.
Lizzie: Not before you hear me say this...
Bill: Lizzie, don't do this to yourself today, please.
Lizzie: You're going to hate me, but you have to know the baby's not yours, Bill.
Bill: What?
Lizzie: Ava's baby... you're not the father.
Bill: (Scoffs)
And when I dream...
Coming up on "Guiding Light"...
Lizzie: I'm not making it up, Bill!
Ava: This is crazy.
Remy: Just listen to me.
Ava: No, stop.
Lizzie: I know how much this baby means to you.
