Dylan: Do not blame yourself, alright? You didn’t do this.
Harley: It would be just like her, she wanted to party, she lit some candles, something caught fire and she panicked. Is that what happened?
Gus: ( moaning )
Harley: Don’t, don’t, don’t talk. Just nod your head yes or no, is that what happened?
Gus: ( mumbling )
Harley: What happened in that room?
Buzz: Ah, it's me again. I'd like to talk to you about how often you check your voicemail, but that would involve you actually talking to me. So call me. I love you.
Ashlee: What?
Buzz: It's Olivia. She hasn't talked to me since yesterday.
Ashlee: Are you worried?
Buzz: No-- well, yeah. There's a lot going on. She always has her cell phone on.
Ashlee: Well, maybe she lost her charge and she doesn't know it yet.
Buzz: Yeah, maybe, but that's my boring problem.
Ashlee: I love boring problems.
Buzz: As opposed to-- are we worried about our boy over there? I am. She did quite a number on him. She is just trying to patch things up.
Ashlee: What does that mean?
Buzz: She is not trying to get him back.
Ashlee: All she has to do is walk in the room. She doesn't have to do anything.
Coop: Ava, it's much easier to start out as friend and go to a couple. It's a lot harder to go the other way.
Ava: But we were friends first...
Coop: Ava, you didn't just choose Alan-Michael over me. You chose a lifestyle for it.
Ava: You're right, I made a mistake. I screwed up. Alan-Michael wasn't just faking about being paralyzed.
Coop: Ava, again, you're telling me...
Ava: There is more. Okay. The gun that was used to shoot Alan, Alan-Michael had that in the house, in his secret hiding place. And when the police came over for it, boom, it was gone.
Coop: You don't think...
Ava: I think he can prove that Josh Lewis didn’t.
Coop: Ava, why, why, why do you want to work for that family?
Ava: Coop, you can't go there. I am sorry about Alan-Michael. But I like my job and I am good at it. What?
Coop: You sound like your mother.
Alan-Michael: Olivia, you don't have to like me. Just work with me. I'll get you everything you want.
Olivia: Now, how the hell would you know what I want? You see, I have a man, a great man, who is ready to marry me. I have a little girl who thinks I hung the moon. And my other daughter hates me, but she needs me, and that's more I can say for you.
Alan-Michael: Do it, do it.
Olivia: You get out of here and you stay away from Ava.
Alan-Michael: It's my room. All right. I don't need you to take down Spaulding. Oh, could you clean up before you leave?
Jeffrey: You okay?
Olivia: Yeah. Thanks. I can't believe we did that.
Jeffrey: What...
Olivia: I've got to go. I've wasted too much time on this and you.
Gus: Daisy was upset.
Harley: I know she was upset. She didn't want to go to boot camp. I didn't want to send her. What, what?
Gus: She was mixed up. Like when I was a kid.
Harley: Honey, I don't understand.
Gus: She wants love. She wants too much love.
Dylan: Harley, can I talk to you for a minute?
Harley: Actually, I was in the middle-- right. You get some rest, okay. I'll be right back.
Gus: Babe...
Harley: I'll be right back. Where's Daisy?
Dylan: I sent her to the cafeteria.
Harley: By herself?
Dylan: Come here. She needs to eat, and you need to trust her. Come here. Daisy didn't start the fire. Gus did. He was high.
Ava: Just because Olivia has worked...
Coop: Yeah, at Spaulding.
Ava: And made the mistake of falling for a Spaulding, so did you.
Coop: Fair enough.
Ava: It doesn't mean that she and I are the same person. I thought about this. I am ambitious, but I'm not ruthless, I’m not terrible. I mean we really don’t have that much in common, I’m...
Coop: I like the way you automatically assume I meant that the bad way.
Ava: That I'm turning into my mother.
Coop: I didn't say you were turning into your mother, I said you sound like your mother. Olivia is not that bad. Yes, she hurt my brother and then went after my dad. But she makes him happy. And soon enough she is going to be my mother.
Ava: I forgot about that.
Coop: My dad brings out the best in people, and Olivia’s best is pretty good. It could be worse.
Ava: All right. Maybe I've been going about this whole thing the wrong way.
Coop: What?
Ava: Trying to figure out who I am by shutting people out. Maybe I would have a better clue about myself if I took time to get to know them and find out what they think about me, and I--
Coop: What?
Ava: I hope that I didn't screw this up.
Coop: No. Ava, you did not screw this up.
Ava: Yeah?
Coop: Yeah. Any time you need a friend.
Ava: Thank you.
Coop: Excuse me, I have a damsel in distress. You look like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders.
Ashlee: What?
Coop: The tray-- this bucket here.
Ashlee: Oh, yeah, that would be the great.
Coop: I've got a deal for you: I will give you have of my tips if you have a guilty conscience.
Ashlee: I don't have one.
Coop: What?
Ashlee: I didn't do anything--
Coop: No. I'm talking about the book. You said you would help me with the character and you said I need to make him guiltier.
Ashlee: I don't know how to do that.
Coop: Ashlee, you said you were going to help me with this.
Ashlee: I'm not the writer. I just check the notes.
Olivia: Just because two people weren't cut from the same cloth or plastic or paper or whatever...
Buzz: Hi. Whoa! ( Laughter )
Ava: That is not the way it works in real life.
Olivia: It does too. I love movies about that stuff. It's about redemption, and a man who goes back into his past to correct this mistakes. It's about forgiveness.
Jeffrey: Forgiveness?
Olivia: Yeah, it kind of gives you hope.
Ava: But that's was a long movie.
Olivia: You can pick the next one.
Alan-Michael: Well, if it isn’t my favorite kidnapper. Actually, Olivia is my favorite, but you're my second.
Jeffrey: Actually, we didn't kidnap you.
Alan-Michael: Denial, it ain’t just a river in Egypt. That’s okay, Jeffrey, it’s my MO too.
Jeffrey: What is that supposed to mean?
Alan-Michael: Don't be coy. Olivia likes them tough.
Harley: You're wrong. Gus was not popping pills.
Dylan: Daisy said he was.
Harley: Daisy lies.
Dylan: Didn't you tell me he was slurring on the phone...
Harley: He was slurring because he was driving too long. It's a legitimate reason.
Dylan: Or an excuse.
Daisy: I prayed last night and I asked God to make you better. Hey.
Gus: Your mom...
Daisy: She'll be back. She'll be back. Did you hear what I was saying? I prayed for you.
Gus: You're okay. That's what matters.
Daisy: You do care. I knew it. I knew something life and death, like last night, it makes you re-think everything, right?
Gus: You're my daughter.
Daisy: Sh-sh-sh. I know, Gus, I understand. Just, please, I need to ask you not to tell... don't tell Harley what I said, okay? She can't know how much I wanted you. You shouldn't even talk, right, because you should be resting. She'd hate me forever, and then maybe she won't let us hang out anymore, and I can't have that, because I need you. Because you're all I have.
Harley: Daisy, your father needs you.
Daisy: Can you tell him that I’m visiting Gus?
Harley: Gus and I need to be talk.
Daisy: Harley, he really shouldn't be talking. Because I talked to the doctors last night --
Harley: I talked to the doctors, too.
Daisy: Oh, okay. Then I guess I'll just come back later.
Harley: Thanks.
Coop: Oh, Ashlee...
Ashlee: Coop, are you okay?
Coop: Yeah, I'm fine.
Ashlee: You really shouldn't be standing there. I could have knocked you into tomorrow.
Coop: Did I do something?
Ashlee: Like what?
Coop: I don't know. That's the problem. Did I say something, not say something...
Ashlee: Did Ava leave?
Coop: Oh, man. I guess -- I'm sorry, you and I were going through the pages, we were in the middle of it, and she walked in, and I had to talk to her. I'm sorry.
Ashlee: I swear, it's not anything you did or you or Ava or your story, because I know I marked it up, but I really liked it a lot.
Coop: Ashlee, what is going on?
Ashlee: Oh, God, I shouldn't be saying this. I-- um, forgot the fries.
Coop: What?
Ashlee: Table five had fries.
Coop: Table five had brunch.
Ashlee: The hashed browns, fries -- whatever.
Coop: Is this about Alan Spaulding, that he threw you out?
Ashlee: No, I am thrilled Alan threw us out. All of the things they say and do -- and then all of a sudden you're one of them. Only everything is hidden, all of these secrets have to stay in the family, this secret little hiding place, and I -- whatever, I have to --
Ava: The gun that used to shoot Alan, Alan-Michael had that in his house, in his secret hiding place. And when the police came overlooking for it, boom, it was gone.
Olivia: So you think I'm insane?
Buzz: One second you're talking about recycling, and the next second...
Olivia: We didn't tie him up that tight, and Jeffrey brought doughnuts to feed him.
Buzz: Do you hear yourself?
Olivia: Yes. I was just so focused on protecting Ava.
Buzz: Well, that's a good thing.
Olivia: And the other good thing, Buzz, is when Alan-Michael tangled Spaulding in front of me, I didn't bite. And that's you. I'm not that driven, win at all costs, as I used to be.
Buzz: You kidnap a man and you tie him to a chair!
Olivia: Don't forget--
Buzz: The doughnuts.
Olivia: Okay. So maybe I am driven, but in a good way. But--
Buzz: I'm not mad at you. But I see Jeffrey’s fingerprints in this?
Olivia: Wait, I've learned something. I've actually learned something. My gut doesn't go for the juggler anymore. And I don't want power and revenge anymore, and that's because of your faith in me.
Buzz: What? But if he wants you to play Bonnie to his Clyde...
Olivia: What does that mean?
Buzz: I don't care how this thing started. Do you know how it could’ve ended up. If we're going to be married--
Olivia: We are!
Buzz: Then Jeffrey can have no part in it, I mean none.
Jeffrey: I'm done here.
Alan-Michael: Hey, I wasn't looking to fall in love, either. You say your daughter is too good for me, she deserves better than me. She does. If it were up to me, I would have chosen someone without a conscience or scruples or a daddy like you. But we don't get to choose who we love.
Jeffrey: No, we don’t.
Alan-Michael: Which brings us to Olivia.
Jeffrey: You've been in that chair too much. Olivia is marrying Buzz.
Alan-Michael: A long time in that chair. You talked about Ava, Buzz, glazed doughnuts, everything but each other.
Jeffrey: That's because there is nothing to talk about.
Alan-Michael: It's what you call glaring omission. I saw the sparks, and if I did, so will other people. Good luck with that, Jeffrey.
Dylan: So what did you get at the cafeteria?
Daisy: Nothing, I wasn't hungry. Do you want your money back?
Dylan: No, no. Keep it.
Daisy: I'm glad you're here, even if just for a little while.
Dylan: Me, too, kiddo.
Daisy: Harley hasn’t said anything else about the boot camp, I hope they don’t put me in the stockades when I get there.
Dylan: I don't think they do that anymore. At least not for the last couple of centuries.
Daisy: That's good.
Dylan: Wait a second. I'm not going anywhere, and neither are you.
Harley: You know, I told the doctor that I would let you sleep, but I just -- I need to know something. You were talking about Daisy before, honey. Was Daisy responsible for what happened last night?
Gus: Daisy... went to sleep early. The rest was all me. It was all me.
Next on "Guiding Light"...
What makes people do bad things more than money.
Cyrus: What do they want you for?
Dinah: Murder.
Steal from your own mother.
Mallet: Everyone in this room wants to nail him and whoever he might be working for it.
Cyrus: It's about the money, about having it, and maybe even more about getting it.
