Marah: Oh, please. Not again.

Sunny: She's a God.

Marah: Yeah, I like her a little softer.

Sunny: I can never get sick of this song.

Marah: I can tell. Can you turn it down a little.

Sunny: You're really bummed, huh? About this whole prison deal with your mom.

Marah: Well, yeah, that and a few other few things.

Sunny: It is perfect that we're roommates then. I'm new in town-- know zero kids at school, and you're like in crises. We can talk. Oh, I love this part.

Marah: Sunny, I would love to talk, but I have plans with Tony. So, see you later.

Reva: I don't know how a person does this. I don't know how it works.

Josh: You're getting ahead of yourself.

Reva: Do you get to take personal things, you know? I mean they should give you a handbook, you know when you're first time prisoner.

Josh: Reva, you--

Reva: Because I want to take pictures. I do. And my pillow. Because I love my pillow.

Josh: You know what? I think we should go outside and sit down for a bit. What do you think?

Reva: I'm being manic.

Josh: Yeah. Come on.

Reva: You know, I love this bench. I remember when we put the bench here.

Josh: Yeah, so do I. It was right after we moved in.

Reva: Mm.

Josh: It was still winter.

Reva: (Laughs) We put it here so that we could look out over the tops of the trees. And now that they're all changing color...

Josh: Reva, we don't know what kind of sentence they're going to give you.

Reva: Yeah, we do. 15 to 35 years. How do you help you kids to see that?

Josh: I don't know.

Reva: Cassie.

Cassie: What were you thinking, Reva? Tell me. Why did you plead guilty?

Olivia: I'll give you five minutes to find him and then I’m leaving.

Phillip: Where's my father?

Olivia: I don't know.

Phillip: What do you mean you don't know?

Olivia: I don't know. I just got here. And even the nurse doesn't know where he is.

Phillip: Oh, that's great.

Olivia: He's a sick man. He couldn't just walked out of hospital.

Phillip: I came here to check on him before. He was halfway out of bed trying to make a phone call.

Olivia: What?

Phillip: Yeah. So if nobody's been watching him, God, only knows what kind of stunt he's trying to pull.

Olivia: We need to go find him.

Phillip: Wait a minute. This is very pretty. Not what you were wearing at the beach.

Olivia: You know as intriguing as this is, I don't want to talk fashion with you. I need to find your father.

Phillip: What are you doing?

Judge Prescott: Olivia, I am so sorry I’m late.

Olivia: That's all right.

Judge Prescott: Ted Prescott.

Phillip: Phillip Spaulding.

Judge Prescott: I'll be performing the ceremony.

Phillip: Ceremony?

Judge Prescott: Marry Olivia to Mr. Spaulding. So you two already?

Alexandra: Too late. Got ya!

Alan: Damn.

Alexandra: What are you doing out of your hospital bed? Alan Spaulding, you are a very, very naughty boy.

Cassie: What? Is this another one of your incredible decisions? You know, I was in the courtroom when you jumped up and you shouted for them to leave me alone and, I don't know, I just thought that was like an isolated incident. And then I leave and the first thing I hear is that you pleaded guilty for murdering my husband.

Reva: Well, it's not something I planned.

Cassie: Then why did you do it?

Reva: Because it seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

Cassie: The spirit just moved you.

Josh: Cassie, that's not fair.

Cassie: Is there ever a moment when you stop and think about what you do before you do it?

Reva: I'm thinking. (Laughs)

Cassie: It's not a time to joke. You could go to prison, Reva!

Reva: I am going to prison. It's official.

Cassie: Aren't you scared?

Reva: I'm terrified.

Cassie: Then why don't you fight? Why don't you keep your mouth shut and let Ross work for you? Why? Why just give up?

Reva: I don't see it as giving up.

Cassie: So what, did you just cooperate with the authorities?

Reva: Cassie, I never denied that I turned off Richard’s ventilator. I never lied about why I did it. So why let this trial grind away forcing you to have to sit here and listen...

Cassie: I knew it. I knew you did this for me.

Reva: Josh, maybe you should go inside and...

Josh: Yeah, it's okay.

Reva: Thanks.

Cassie: I never asked you to do this.

Reva: I know that.

Cassie: Then why, Reva? Why were you just sitting there going, "Oh, how could I hurry this trial along?" I'm sorry.

Reva: Ross... Ross said that he was going to appeal if I lost the case and I was convicted. That he would take it all the way to the supreme court if need be. That he would keep fighting the law itself to be overturned, not just my conviction.

Cassie: You were going to?

Reva: I never said I wanted to be the poster woman for legal reform, Cassie. I'm just trying to make sure that everything is okay for this family.

Cassie: And you call this okay? You're going to leave your husband and your kids yet again?

Reva: Okay, stop. Sop. Just stop. I know that nothing is okay. But will it be okay if I have to sit at that defense table day after day after day of testimony and cross examination? No, I think it will make things worse.

Cassie: I hated everything that has happened since Richard’s accident. But I do not want you to go to prison.

Tony: So that's your new roommate, huh?

Marah: I came here to get away from her and she followed me here, Tony. Followed me.

Tony: I know. I know. I stopped by your dorm and I saw your note on the bulletin board. Hers, too.

Marah: You came by the dorm?

Tony: Well, yeah, I figured there be a bunch of people around in case you freaked.

Marah: I'm trying to get over the whole freak phrase.

Sunny: (Sighs) I am so glad you're still here. You left with out these ( jingling keys).

Marah: Thanks.

Sunny: Marah is great. But lately she's not all there up here. (Laughs) See you back at the room.

Marah: Okay.

Tony: Wow! What's it say?

Marah: See you back at the room.

Tony: Does she dot all her I's with smiley faces, too?

Marah: Yes. Yes, she does. And don't laugh, because it's not funny. I swear I feel like I'm...

Tony: Hey, I heard about your mom, and I was thinking that you might want me to put you in touch with Cass Winthrop.

Marah: Your lawyer...

Tony: Yeah. I was thinking you might want to use him now. And there are other ways that my family can help, too, Marah.

Marah: How?

Tony: Well, we know a lot of people. And we can make sure that your mom gets a mello judge when her case goes up for appeal.

Marah: I don't think so.

Tony: Marah, your mother, she's always been straight with me. Even when she's hated the stuff that's been going on between me and you. She’s... I was thinking that this maybe something I can do for her.

Marah: Thank you, really. But I don't think that she would take that kind of help. No offense.

Tony: Well, she's a tough girl. I'm sure she'll be fine. I just hope you are, too. Well, I better get going.

Marah: Tony, wait. You want to take a walk?

Tony: A walk. With me? Alone?

Marah: It's a nice night.

Tony: Yeah. And I won't change that?

Marah: It just seemed like a good idea.

Tony: What are you... What are you doing? Are you testing yourself?

Marah: Maybe. Probably. I don't know. Whatever it is, it's better than hanging out with Sunny.

Tony: How about the beach? She won't find you there.

Marah: Okay.

Alan: I'm working.

Alexandra: I see. So how many board votes do you expect to get to block what I'm planning at tomorrow's meeting?

Alan: That had not entered my head.

Alexandra: You're lying, Alan. You're always lying. But I will say one thing. You're a very lucky man.

Alan: Am I?

Alexandra: Absolutely. Imagine if it had been Olivia and Phillip who had come in and found you plotting away instead of me?

Alan: I wasn't plotting anything.

Alexandra: Think of the questions they would have asked. Too many questions to have kept alive the illusion of a man at death's door.

Alan: All right, Alexandra, you've made your point. We'll keep this between us.

Alexandra: Yes, yes. Well, you've got strength. I'll give you that. But not enough trust. Not enough trust, Alan, in your sister to let her run the company in the one short week that we agreed to.

Alan: I have every intention of honoring my commitment.

Alexandra: You're lying again. Such a bad habit. You know, I'm beginning to get a little insulted by your attitude, Alan. And when I’m insulted I tend to lash out.

Olivia: I figured why wait? Might as well get married tonight.

Phillip: Right here in the hospital room.

Olivia: I wanted it to be a surprise.

Phillip: Oh, well, it's that.

Olivia: That's what we both want, Phillip. Alan and I.

Phillip: Mm-hmm. Judge, would you excuse us for for just a moment.

Judge: Of course.

Phillip: Thank you. I like the flowers, by the way. That's a nice touch.

Olivia: What is your problem? What is your problem? I think of all people you would be happy about this.

Phillip: Are you?

Olivia: Well, I’m here in my pretty suit and my nice flowers. I called a judge. What does that say?

Phillip: To me it says that you're willing to go through with it.

Olivia: What difference does it make to you anyway? You made your feelings perfectly clear.

Phillip: About us. But I also happen to be concerned about my father and I don't want to see him hurt.

Olivia: Oh, in case it turns out I'm only marrying him, because you gave me the proverbial kiss off.

Phillip: What was it? Was it like an hour after we had the fight on the beach that you through this whole thing together? You don't see a connection there?

Olivia: I don't see it, but you do. Or maybe it's your ego that does.

Phillip: Olivia, when I told you to make my father happy I didn't mean to marry him tonight. Come on. Now, look at everything that just happened in the last couple of weeks, it's been very confusing for everybody, all right? But this is... I think it's safe to say that being hurt is not a good enough reason to marry someone.

Olivia: Save your concern. I don't mean to hurt you, but you didn't have the effect on me you think you did. Nurse. Where is Mr. Spaulding? Is he out for tests?

Nurse: No, he should be here.

Phillip: Well, he's not here. My guess would be that he's not in the building.

Reva: I'll be all right.

Cassie: You'll be all right. In prison. What does that mean, Reva? You'll survive?

Reva: That's exactly what it means.

Cassie: Reva...

Reva: Cassie, the news isn't all bad.

Cassie: No.

Reva: I heard that the Beacon isn't just booked, but it's booked solid and open.

Cassie: Yeah. It is.

Reva: Well, that's good. I mean, it's nice when dreams come true. Not to mention the fact that there's money coming in.

Cassie: Yeah, it's nice.

Reva: Is the other part true, too? (Laughs) That Alexandra Spaulding rented out every room in the place?

Cassie: Yes, she... You know, it was perfect timing. We were open for business and she came into town and she did not want to share the place with anybody.

Reva: Oh, well, that sounds just like her. She's a piece of work.

Cassie: So I think I'm going to be back on my feet in a few days.

Reva: I'm glad. And the kids? Are they enjoying being at the Beacon?

Cassie: Yes, they're loving it. You know, Tammy keeps following around Alexandra’s maids trying to find out what's cool in Europe. And R.J., he's just so cute. He keeps saluting the doorman every time they walk in and out of the main lobby.

Reva: He probably picked that up from Richard.

Cassie: You said you're terrified.

Reva: Of going to prison? Oh, yeah... (Laughs) ...But I’ve been through worse. I mean we both have. Cassie, people go to prison to repay their debt to society.

Cassie: That's a nice way of putting it.

Reva: Yeah, well, and when they come out, that debt is forgiven so that they could start over.

Cassie: If they can?

Reva: They can. And it may be wishful thinking, but I'm kind of hoping that's how it will be for us.

Cassie: Please don't ask me. Please don't ask me to forgive you right now. Because I... I can't.

Reva: I just miss you so much. We all do.

Cassie: You said, you know, a lot's happened. So... But I miss you, too.

Reva: That's a start.

Cassie: Don't you think that I would fix this if I could? That I want to feel different about you?

Reva: Do you?

Cassie: I would give anything if I could make myself forget what happened. Because then maybe I could forgive you. But right now, I just can't do either-- forget or forgive.

Alexandra: I don't want it this way.

Phillip: Alexandra, do you... Dad, what the hell are you doing here?

Alexandra: (Whispers) Pretend to faint.

Phillip: Dad? Dad?

Olivia: Alan!

Phillip: Are you all right?

Olivia: Get him to the couch.

Phillip: Are you okay?

Alan: I'm all right.

Phillip: Come here. Sit down.

Olivia: Phillip, call the doctor.

Alan: No, Olivia.

Olivia: Yes.

Phillip: Yes. You've had two heart attacks. Cal the doctor.

Alan: No, no. There's no need to make such a fuss.

Alexandra: He doesn't look at all well.

Phillip: Are you out of your mind? Why would you leave the hospital without a doctor's approval? Without talking to anybody?

Alan: I had no choice.

Phillip: Really? Why is that?

Alexandra: Because he's Alan Spaulding.

Olivia: Your computer is turned on, Alan. You had work to do that nobody else could do for you?

Alan: I needed to check something, Olivia.

Phillip: Here. Try this.

Alexandra: You see, he was a little worried about the fact that I was running the company.

Olivia: You're running the company?

Phillip: He gave her his power of attorney earlier.

Alexandra: Yes.

Olivia: Instead of you.

Alan: Look, for only one week until I recover that's all.

Alexander: It seems to make perfect sense.

Phillip: It doesn't to me.

Alexander: Phillip, you know something? You are becoming more and more like your father each day. You can't stand the fact that other people are going to be involved and giving the orders about relationships and business.

Phillip: We're not talking about my ex-wives right now.

Alexandra: Oh, no, no. Of course not.

Olivia: Why did you give her control of your company?

Alexandra: Yes, Alan, why don't you answer that question. Why?

Alan: If you can't trust your sister...

Alexandra: Who can you trust?

Alan: And I need to know all the support I had for this emergency board meeting.

Olivia: Wait a minute. What meeting? When did this happened?

Phillip: Dad, Alexandra called a meeting earlier today.

Olivia: Why are we having this meeting?

Alexandra: For the good of the company.

Phillip: Dad, is this what you want? Because if it isn't, I will call the lawyers. I love you very much. No offense intended.

Alexandra: None taken. Alan, answer the question. Is that what you want? Speak up now, or you know the rest.

Cassie: Yeah, Reva, you just always tell me to trust my heart and that I should follow it wherever it leads me. But, you know, that's where forgiveness comes from. Your heart.

Reva: That's where everything comes from.

Cassie: Yeah, well, my heart is barely working right now.

Reva: That's not true. It's not, Cassie. Your face lit up when you were talking about the Beacon. And when you talk about Tammy, and your love for your kids, Will and R.J. You've never wavered there not one bit.

Cassie: No, I haven't. But aside from my kids, all I feel is this aching feeling.

Reva: But that's changing. Maybe a little.

Cassie: So slowly that it hurts to even think about it.

Reva: Then think about the good things. The Beacon, the kids. Think about that part of your life that's good. And not about the part that just feels awful without Richard.

Reva: Cassie, I know this isn't easy for you. I know it's not. But, sweetheart, Richard’s gone. And I don't think that he would want you to spend the rest of your life in this bitterness and lost.

Cassie: Reva, I’m just not on your timetable. And I'm sorry.

Reva: I know that. I know that. All I'm saying--

Cassie: I'm not, you know, just forgive and forgetting it. Forgiveness, it comes from the same place. And I don't know, I just can't right now. And I'm so sorry. (Crying) I have to go.

Josh: Wait, wait, wait. No. No. Wait a minute now. That's it? You're sorry? You're just going to walk away and Reva goes to prison, that's it?

Cassie: Josh, how much of this conversation have you heard?

Josh: I've heard enough to have had it up to here with what you've been saying, Cassie. You have got to stop this now.

Cassie: Stop what?

Josh: Look, look, look. Nobody's claiming that you haven't suffered a terrible loss. Richard was a fine man. And you obviously loved each other very much. But you have been wallowing in your pain as if you're the only person on the planet in the history of time that's ever experienced grief, Cassie! Life goes on!

Alan: I wouldn't have signed the damn thing if I didn't think it was for the best.

Olivia: Best for whom?

Alan: For all of us. And I wouldn't have left the hospital if I've known that you were coming back. You look absolutely beautiful, Olivia. Where you going, to a party or something that I didn't know about?

Olivia: I went home to change my clothes before I came to see because I had a plan of my own.

Alan: What is that?

Olivia: To cheer you up. (Laughs) I even brought you some flowers.

Alan: Did you really?

Olivia: Yeah. But I think I'm the one who needs cheering up now, Alan.

Alan: Oh. Why? What happened?

Olivia: Because you were a fool to leave the hospital. You can't take risks like that.

Phillip: She's absolutely right.

Alan: Look, I told you I was coming home.

Olivia: Tomorrow. Tonight, you're going back to the hospital.

Phillip: That's right. And we'll see what the doctor says. I'm going to call an ambulance to take you back.

Alexandra: No, no, no. I'll take him in a limo.

Phillip: All right, I guess that will be quicker. You know what? Let's all go.

Alexandra: No, no, no. I don't want you to do that. Look, your father has been put in a very embarrassing situation. Let's save face here. I'll take care of him.

Olivia: Isn't that what the board meeting and the power of attorney is suppose to do?

Alexandra: Are you suggesting that this little escapade of his was my fault?

Olivia: I'm not suggesting, no.

Phillip: Okay.

Alexandra: Oh.

Phillip: Cancel the meeting.

Alexandra: (Laughs) Oh, too late.

Phillip: If you keep on with this, you are going to kill him. Can't you see how worried he is about what you might have up your sleeve?

Alexandra: I'm not going to propose anything radical. I mean, how could I? He'd only block me anyway.

Phillip: If I had the votes.

Alexandra: Alan's looking terribly pale. I think we should get him to the hospital.

Phillip: Are you okay? You ready to get back?

Alan: I'll be all right.

Phillip: I want you to be very careful, all right?

Olivia: I'll see you in the morning.

Phillip: Try to get some rest, okay?

Alexander: And once again your sister has saved you from a faith worst than death.

Olivia: Problem?

Phillip: Question. You're all set to marry my father. You had the dress, you had the flowers, you had the judge. So why didn't you tell the groom this was his big night?

Marah: The Beacon looks beautiful all lit up like that, doesn't it?

Tony: Looks like a cruise ship.

Marah: Funny, that's how I thought of it the night of my parents' wedding. That seems like a long time ago.

Tony: It was a great night.

Marah: Everyone was so happy. So up. I remember watching Cassie and Richard taking pictures and they looked into the camera like they owned the future. And by the next night everything had changed.

Tony: Yeah. Here.

Marah: No. No, I'm okay. Thank you. So what's it like? Prison. Is it as bad as they make it seem in the movies?

Tony: Marah, Marah, your mother is no killer. They'll go light on her.

Marah: But she confessed, Tony. She is a killer.

Tony: This will keep the wind off of you. You know, I remember dancing that night at your parents wedding.

Marah: And all those smiles. A whole room full of them. Could there have been anyone more full of hope that night than my mom and dad and Cassie and Richard?

Tony: It's like the whole world had changed. For the better.

Marah: And any dream was possible.

Tony: Yeah.

Marah: Maybe it all was a dream.

Tony: I don't know. It was real. And who knows, maybe it could still happen.

Marah: It'd be nice to believe that.

Tony: You don't?

Marah: I think that once a moment passes, that it's gone forever.

Tony: So what do you do? You quit?

Marah: No. No, you move forward, you move on. It's the only thing you can do. It's cold. I... I should go.

Tony: Back to Sunny?

Marah: (Laughs) Don't remind me. Thanks for the walk.

Tony: Marah? I hope it's true. I hope that you're able to move on though?

Marah: I hope you are, too. Well, on to the next thing.

Cassie: Josh, look, I’m sorry. I just really don't want to have this conversation with you right now.

Josh: You think this hasn't been tough on everybody involved? It has been. But for some reason, everybody’s feelings have had to take a back seat to your feelings, you know, your grief, your sorrow and your pain. My wife is about to go to prison. Your sister is about to go to prison.

Reva: Joshua, not now.

Josh: I just got her back, and now I'm going to lose her. Our children are about to lose their mother. Do you have any idea how that feels?

Cassie: Josh, this isn't my fault.

Josh: You've been walking around acting like Reva was just waiting in the wings for a chance to kill Richard. You know, you've been treating her like she's some kind of a murderer. And on top of that, you're blaming her for everything's that's wrong in your world, Cassie. If something doesn't feel right, it must be Reva’s fault. If something feels painful, it must go back to that terrible thing that Reva did. Have you stopped just for one minute to think about what Richard was feeling? Or do you even care about that?

Cassie: How can you say that?

Josh: Because, Cassie, right now, all I’m thinking is that the only person you care about is you. But have you thought for a minute about what he was feeling in that hospital bed in agony, trying to figure out a way to stop the pain for both of you? There's a lot of things you can be angry at right now. You know, you can be angry at God, you know, why would he let something like this happen? Or you could be angry at fate or whatever it is you want to call it. You could even be angry at Richard himself. He's the one, Cassie, who didn't put on a seat belt that night. And he's also the one who chose Reva to help him to end his sorrow. So, yeah, why pick... Why pick Reva when there's so many other choices available? Cassie... Cassie, you probably could not have done for Richard what Reva did. I know that I couldn't have because I don't have the same kind of heart that Reva does. That kind of love, the love that she had to do the right thing. And it was the right thing. I heard you say earlier on you didn't even feel like you have a heart anymore. If you keep this up, if you keep turning your back on your sister during this time when this family's being torn apart by the most loving thing she's ever done, than that may be true. Maybe you don't have a heart anymore.

Alexandra: Comfy?

Alan: Just waiting for the ax to fall. Again.

Alexandra: Oh, Alan, really. Do you think I expect some sort of payment for getting you out of that embarrassing situation at the house? I'm your sister. I love you.

Alan: Don't scare me even more.

Alexandra: All I want is to make some money for myself, for the family and for the company.

Alan: That's why you helped me, to keep your leverage. As long as you keep my medical condition a secret, you have me over a barrel.

Alexandra: You know, you really planned your little escapade so badly.

Alan: Now you're a critic.

Alexandra: Do you really love Olivia so much that you put yourself in this vulnerable position just to hang on to her?

Alan: The short answer: Yes.

Alexandra: Even though she conspired against you with your own son?

Alan: Alexandra, when you lay in a hospital bed for days you start to think about things that are truly important.

Alexandra: (Laughs) Alan, you're not dying. You're faking it.

Alan: Details, details! Look, I'm tired. Tired of loving and ending up alone. I have looked all my life for a woman like Olivia. And I intend on keeping her.

Alexandra: Nice. Well, in that case, I am going to give you the most fantastic wedding that the world has ever seen just to show that I’m on your side.

Alan: Alexandra, let Olivia do the planning please.

Alexandra: It'll be the most perfect day. We'll have beautiful flowers, great music, exquisite food. And I'll give you the best gift of all. I won't tell your bride that the groom faked a heart attack so that he could win her over.

Olivia: Tell your father about the wedding with your dear aunt hovering. I don't think so.

Phillip: Why? What better time to lay claim to the captain of industry?

Olivia: Ooh. Well, you know what? He nearly killed himself leaving the hospital tonight. I thought that was enough excitement for one evening.

Phillip: So you do still intend to marry him?

Olivia: Answer your question.

Phillip: Okay, Mrs. Spaulding.

Olivia: That's right. You know, I'm going to be committed to somebody who actually wants me-- more than anything or anyone in the world who values and admires me.

Phillip: And who would do damn near anything to hang on to you. Including beg, borrow, lie, cheat and steal.

Olivia: Sounds like love to me.

Phillip: Okay. Hey, if you can live with it, so can I.

Olivia: Well, you're going to have to, because we're going to be doing it under one roof as one big happy family. To the Spaulding’s.

Phillip: Can't wait.

Marah: Well, on to the next thing. Hey, Bill? It's Marah. I'm okay. Listen, were you and Ben serious about wanting another roommate at Ross and Blake’s old house? Cool. Then I’m in.

Josh: I'm sorry. I guess I had to say those things. So I apologize. I hope it didn't make you angry.

Reva: I'm grateful. Thank you for protecting me. I'm going to miss this. ( Laughter)

Josh: Close your eyes. And feel this. Think about how close we are right now. This is going to be waiting for you when you get back. I promise.

Reva: You really promise?

Josh: (Whispers) Yes, ma'am. We're going to mark the date on the calendar. I'll be here for you.

Richard: Cassie, I want you to thank your sister. Thank your sister Reva for what she's done for us. She's a very brave woman.
