Shayne: Mom, Dad. Are you two ever busted.
Josh: Hey, son
Reva: Hi.
Shayne: Look, I don't want any excuses. You guys are grounded. I mean, no allowance, no car keys, no chocolate for dinner.
Josh: Okay, all right, all right, enough with the joking around. Call Ross and get us out of here.
Shayne: Look, I've been there, done that. The judge decided to lift your contempt charges.
Josh: Ah.
Reva: Oh, that's great.
Shayne: He thought you being in jail was enough.
Josh: Well, why didn't you say that in the first place?
Shayne: You guys think I'd be joking if you were doing major time in the pen? Look, Uncle Billy posted your bail. You guys are out of here.
Josh: All right.
Shayne: Officer, spring them.
Cop: You sure you're finished.
Shayne: I don't think they could handle any more ridicule.
Josh: Thank you.
Reva: My hero.
Josh: Thank you, son. You're a good young man. Thank you. Where is your sister, now?
Shayne: Um, you know, she's a hard person to find sometimes.
Reva: Yeah. Especially since she can't figure out whether or not she wants to forgive me.
Shayne: Look, it's not that, exactly.
Reva: It's all right. Cassie needs her more than I do right now, anyway.
Marah: Dad's in jail.
Cassie: What?
Marah: He tried to convince the judge to release mom and wound up in the same cell.
Cassie: Marah, that's terrible.
Marah: Don't worry about it. Shayne is going to pick both of them up right now.
Cassie: Shayne? Not you?
Marah: No, Shayne can take care of them.
Cassie: Go see your parents. Please? I'm fine. Really, I'm okay. When Tammy gets back from her walk and the boys wake up from their naps, I'll make them something to eat and we're going to go to Richard's grave.
Marah: I can watch the kids if you want.
Cassie: What does your mother think about you spending so much time with me?
Marah: She wishes that she could be the one to take care of you. But you're not ready for that, are you?
Cassie: Sit down. I know it's hard for you to understand and we both know that your mother thinks that she was helping...
Marah: But she helped Richard instead and she didn't give you a chance to say goodbye. I know. I know, I know. I hate what she did, too, but I just... I wish we could all go back before this ever happened, when you and Richard and the kids were in the house. We had such a good time. And it's just like we're so divided now. It's really hard.
Tony: Cassie? You there? I've got some business we need to discuss.
Beth: Phillip, I didn't expect that...
Phillip: No, I guess not.
Bill: I can explain, Phillip.
Phillip: You know what? I don't need to hear anything from you. I want to hear from you.
Bill: That kiss? That kiss was my fault, Phillip.
Phillip: Oh, I'm pretty sure.
Bill: But it's a little more complicated than you realize, you see, because...
Phillip: Is it?
Bill: Yeah.
Beth: Phillip, I... I...
Phillip: The last time we talked, when you said you wanted the plane, you said you wanted to come home because you missed me and you missed the kids and you wanted to see us.
Beth: Yes. Yes, I did.
Phillip: Really?
Beth: I mean, I do. I do.
Phillip: Well, I guess you didn't miss us too damn much if you had time to stop off and shack up with him.
Beth: I did not shack up with him. I went to Mexico to the mission that I told you about. And I... I found out something there and I... I don't know how to start.
Phillip: Try from the beginning.
Beth: Well, I don't know how it began. I don't even know how it happened. I just know now that...
Phillip: What?! What happened?!
Beth: This. I found that in the registry in the mission.
Bill: That's right, Phillip. We're married.
Shayne: Can I get you...
Josh: Marah!
Shayne: ...Jailbirds anything? Some iced tea?
Josh: Marah?
Shayne: Potato chips? A nail file?
Reva: This jailbird is just glad to be home and I can't wait to climb those stairs and sleep in my own bed.
Josh: Looks like Marah's not here.
Shayne: Well, there doesn't seem to be any messages. I mean, I told her I was going to go get you guys.
Josh: Wait a minute. She knew that I was in jail with your mom?
Shayne: Yeah. She asked me if I could handle it, and I said, "No problem."
Josh: Well, it sounds like we have a problem.
Reva: No. She was at the bail hearing. She's just confused.
Josh: She's with Cassie right now. Okay.
Reva: It's okay. It is. Cassie needs all the support she can get.
Josh: So do you.
Reva: I have it. I have you and I have Shayne. It's good that Marah's with her. Maybe she can help Cassie heal a little.
Josh: Maybe she can help her to understand that testifying against you isn't going to help anything at all. It's not going to bring Richard back.
Reva: You know what? I can't hear any more of that. I don't want to talk about it. I just... I need a nice, long, hot bath.
Josh: All right, you go on upstairs and relax for a bit.
Reva: Are you coming?
Josh: Yeah, I'll be there in a little while.
Shayne: She's really on overload, huh?
Josh: Yeah, she is. Tell her I'll be back in a while, okay? About an hour.
Shayne: From where, may I ask?
Josh: Thank you for bailing us out of jail. I hope I don't have to return the favor someday.
Marah: You have business with my aunt?
Cassie: Yeah. Tony, he's helping me with some things.
Tony: Yeah. Helping you. How are you, Marah?
Marah: What's going on, Tony?
Cassie: Hey. Nothing is going on. Look, Tony's just helping me with some things with the hotel, you know? Contractors, just small details.
Marah: What kind of details?
Cassie: It's nothing I can't handle, Marah.
Marah: Well, why don't you just let mom and dad help you with this?
Cassie: Because I don't want your mother and father to help me. And I don't want you to go and tell them what's going on, okay? Look, I have an appointment with Tony that I forgot about. That's all. And you, come on, you need to go spend some time with your parents. You do. I will call you later, all right? And I'm fine. Really. I'm fine.
Tony: Look, I think you know why I'm here. That loan that we made you is way overdue. Now, out of respect for your late husband, we've let it slide, but there's only so much we can do.
Cassie: I understand.
Tony: I don't think you do. See, if it was me, Danny, we'd give you the whole year. But our investors are not so forgiving. They want their money and they want it yesterday. Yeah. Now you understand.
Cassie: You and Danny, you guys have been great, and I am so sorry that I have not been able to keep up my end of the deal, but I will get you the money. I'm going to be able to pay it, I promise.
Tony: The thing is, Cassie, you know this isn't our money. The people we work with, they expect a return on their cash. Now, we've tried to talk to them, but it is not what they want to hear.
Cassie: How much time can you give me? And maybe you can up the interest? We can make it worth their while.
Tony: 24 hours. After that...
Cassie: Okay. What is this?
Tony: This is my cell phone number. Okay, I'm going to be on the yacht if you want to reach me. If I were you, I'd want to reach me. Okay? I am sorry. This is not my favorite part of the job.
Marah: Oh, no you don't.
Reva: Holly.
Holly: I know it's late.
Reva: No, come in. Please. It's just nice to see someone who's not wearing a badge.
Holly: I'm not here with good news.
Reva: What do you mean?
Holly: I was in the grocery store and look what stared up at me.
Reva: Oh, no.
Holly: I didn't want to be the one to bring it to you, but I thought better me than somebody, some stranger on the street.
Reva: "Does the devil have blonde hair and blue eyes? Is evil lurking under the guise of Springfield's talk show hostess Reva Shayne Lewis?" I can't believe this.
Holly: This is the kind of stuff that makes me embarrassed to be a reporter.
Reva: "Rebuked and rejected by her family, Reva Shayne Lewis faces spending the rest of her life in prison. At least it wouldn't be long enough, according to our poll." (Sighs)
Holly: You know, it's tabloid junk. Most people don't pay any attention to this at all. Besides, when the truth comes out in court...
Reva: People don't want to hear the truth, Holly. In their eyes, I'm a murderer.
Holly: In their eyes, you sell newspapers. That is what this is all about. It's like space ships landing in somebody's refrigerator or dead presidents coming alive on their birthdays. It is not network news. It's trash.
Reva: Yeah, well, I've believed it before. I mean, I'm guilty of believing this kind of stuff. People do.
Holly: Reva, you were faced with an incredibly difficult situation: A member of your family asked you to help him die. He was in agony. You did what you had to do, and most people will understand this. They will have compassion for you. They will have sympathy for what you had to do. (Telephone rings)
Reva: Excuse me. Hello? Marah? Honey, is that you?
Caller: You'll pay for what you did, lady. You'll pay. Burn in hell!
Phillip: You married Bill?
Beth: It happened when I was Lorelei. Look... Look at the signatures.
Bill: Look, Phillip, I understand what is going through your head right now. I do, believe me. I'd feel the same exact way, but once you understand all these facts, it will be a little easier to deal with...
Phillip: (Scoffs) You think?
Bill: I do, I do, I do.
Phillip: Well, Bill, I need to speak to Beth for a few minutes alone right now. So, why don't you...
Bill: No, look, Phillip, I think I should be a part of this, since I am a part of this.
Phillip: Let's go outside.
Beth: Phillip, I'm sorry. This is certainly the last way that I wanted you to find this out.
Phillip: I believe that.
Beth: I'm not married to Bill, not really. I mean, Beth didn't marry him. He married Lorelei. They had some crazy romance in Texas that I have no recollection of, except for a few flashes of... Of...
Phillip: Of what?
Beth: Do you remember the sketch that we argued over? The one...
Phillip: The mission?
Beth: ...Of the mission, yes. I had that picture in my head, and I couldn't get rid of it. So, I had to draw it and look at it, and now I know why.
Phillip: That's where this wedding took place.
Beth: Yes. But I didn't know that at the time. I asked Bill if we had been there, but he wouldn't give me a straight answer. And so that's why I went there. But the priest was just as bad. He wouldn't give me any information, so I was... I was ready to give up and then I saw this in the registry.
Phillip: And... But you asked the priest about this? You did ask him?
Beth: Yes. And he confirmed the whole thing, and that is why I came here to see Bill.
Phillip: Okay. Well, you found Bill, you confirmed your situation. Let's go home and we will deal with the rest of it from there.
Beth: Phillip, I'm not ready to leave yet.
Phillip: Yes, trust me, you may not think you are right now, but as soon as you get home and you have a little perspective, you will understand...
Beth: I think I'll know when I'm finished. This is my life, Phillip.
Phillip: Oh, that's funny. Because, see, I thought it was our life. I thought it was about us and the kids.
Beth: Well, now, that's funny. I remember saying the same thing to you when you left Lizzie and me in Arizona so you could go off and handle some stupid family issue!
Phillip: Stop comparing the two things! They are entirely different!
Beth: No, they're not. And stop... Stop trying to run my life!
Phillip: We are going home and we're going home now.
Beth: No, no, stop it!
Phillip: Oh, I get it. So, you just... You just need me to save you when it's convenient for you, is that the deal?
Beth: I can take care of myself.
Phillip: Yeah? Okay, well you know what, if that's what you want, you got it! Because I'm tired of this! I'm not doing this anymore! Oh, hey, you know what? A little surprise for you. If you get bored with young Bill, here's a little light reading for you.
Beth: Phillip... Phillip... Wait.
Bill: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, what happened out there?
Beth: I... I have to... I have to go... I have to go find Phillip.
Bill: Beth, what are you talking... It's too late, he is gone.
Beth: You can't just leave me with something like this and then disappear!
Bill: What are you talking... What happened? Like what?
Beth: This!
Bill: What, a book?
Beth: Look at the title.
Bill: "Lorelei's Diary"?
Cassie: Bills, plumbing, bills. Funeral bill. (Sighs) I need a miracle. I need a miracle. God. Hello? Do you deal in estate sales? Well, no... My husband just died and... Thank you. And, well, I think I have some things that might be of interest to you. Yeah, very substantial, yeah. Okay, great. Yeah. Yes. My name is Cassie Winslow. And that's 555-2536. That's right. Thank you. I'm sorry. Oh, Richard, I'm so sorry. I love you so much, and I would never do this if I didn't have to. Oh, my God. (Sobbing)
Josh: Cassie.
Cassie: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Josh: No, no, it's okay. Don't be sorry. You're my sister-in-law. I love you, Cassie, you know that.
Cassie: I'm sure you're not loving me very much right now, so...
Josh: I know you're going through a very difficult time right now.
Cassie: How was Russia?
Josh: Well, I think it was a whole lot better than things were here.
Cassie: The kids missed you so much. Marah and Shayne... I'm sure they're so glad that you're back. I'm just a little behind on my... paperwork right now, so...
Josh: Looks like you have a lot here. Maybe I can help you.
Cassie: No, I’m fine. I don't need your help. And I'm sure you didn't come here to be my accountant.
Josh: Well, that's true. I came here to be your brother-in-law, to talk to you a little bit. I'd like to talk about Reva if that's okay with you. I'm thinking that some part of you must understand why she did what she did, Cassie. You heard what she said, right, at the hospital hearing?
Cassie: What do you want me to say? Reva made a choice with huge consequences. And she had to know that at the time, Josh. So, my family and I, we have to deal with those consequences, okay?
Josh: And so you want her to suffer, and you think that will make you feel better?
Cassie: I didn't instigate this case. Edmund did. And I couldn't stop the D.A. even if I wanted to, Josh.
Josh: Do you want to?
Cassie: I don't know. What I want is, I want Reva to understand. It may be selfish, but I want her to hurt like I'm hurting. And I want her to feel what I'm feeling. That's what I want, Josh. I mean, do you think I would want Richard to suffer? No. You know, maybe I would have made the same decision that Reva made, but Reva robbed me of that opportunity!
Josh: No, she made the choice so you wouldn't have to. She did what your husband asked her to do.
Cassie: She did what she wanted to do.
Josh: She was trying to spare you in the same way that Richard was...
Cassie: Spare me! Spare me from what, Josh? Spare me from saying goodbye to the man I love? Would you want me to spare you, would you? If that was Reva laying in that hospital bed, wouldn't you want to hold her hand? Wouldn't you want to look in her eyes and whisper, "I love you," one last time? Well, Reva took that from me, and I will never forgive her for it!
Reva: Holly, thanks for coming.
Holly: Reva, oh, I'm sorry. I debated whether to tell you. Maybe it's better to hit you with everything at once. We've decided to put your show on hiatus for a few weeks.
Reva: You're what? What, you're yanking me off the air? Oh, but Springfield's in my corner, right? Everybody is so sympathetic. Why are you doing this to me?
Holly: It's not me. You know how this works. I have shareholders and a board of directors to answer to. Now, one of them actually wanted to exploit this. Wanted to try to get some more mileage out of it. But I thought this is not the way you wanted to go, right?
Reva: No, no.
Holly: Oh, I'm sorry. This will all pass.
Reva: See you.
Tony: All right, come on, let's go. We got that delivery to make. Let's do it. Marah, what are you doing here?
Marah: How could you go after my Aunt Cassie like that? She loses her husband. She doesn't even have a decent place to live, and you go after her for money?
Tony: Is that what she told you?
Marah: Tony, I heard you. I listened at the door. You said your people weren't happy. What people?
Tony: Well, look, Marah, Cassie borrowed money from the family. All right. Danny tried to turn her down, but she begged him so...
Marah: Oh, so your job is to threaten her until she pays you what she owes you?
Tony: Marah, it's business, okay? I go, I collect, just like any other bank, all right?
Marah: If you had any heart at all, you would call off the debt.
Tony: It's not my money.
Marah: Oh, but they're your people, right? So you can talk to them and explain what happened to Richard.
Tony: Marah, look, just get off the boat.
Marah: No, I'm not leaving until you call off this debt, Tony, all right. You said that I could come to you whenever I needed something.
Tony: I know, and I know. I've helped you when you've needed it. I got Cass to represent your mom. This is so funny. You know, you said you were afraid to come anywhere near me after what happened. You afraid to have feelings for me? But you're not so afraid to get close once you need my help, once you need my connections.
Marah: I do not need your connections. I'm merely asking you to behave honorably out of respect for what we had together. (Engine starts) What's that? We're moving? No, Tony, I don't... Turn this boat around!
Josh: Okay, Cassie, maybe you can't forgive Reva right now for what she did. But that doesn't mean you can't help her.
Cassie: What did she do, send you here to plead her case?
Josh: Reva doesn't know I'm here. She understands what you're going through, she really does.
Cassie: No, she doesn't understand, okay? Stop saying that. Half the people in this town are so happy that Rick is on the road to recovery, that everyone's forgotten about Richard.
Josh: No, that is not true, Cassie...
Cassie: And you want to know who really understands? This is so funny. You know who really understands the emptiness and the unfairness of this, is Edmund. Now, that's ironic!
Josh: No, Reva understands your anger, and she doesn't blame you for it. She...
Cassie: Well, that's because she knows what she did was wrong.
Josh: There was no malice! There was no selfishness in what she did! And if Richard were alive today...
Cassie: And he's not! And he will never be here. So, do not ask me to identify with what Reva did. Or to get in her mixed-up head. Because I can't.
Josh: Shayne... Shayne said he thought Marah might be here.
Cassie: She was here earlier.
Josh: I understand she's been spending quite a bit of time with you.
Cassie: She's been amazing. You know, Marah's a very special girl. She... Has this ability to be able to reach out and give you what you need.
Josh: Yeah, she gets that quality from her mother.
Cassie: I'm worried about her. You know, she... Internalizes a lot, and she... She's been through a lot.
Josh: Yeah, she has.
Cassie: I keep telling her, you know, she needs to go out and she needs to do things that kids her age do and have fun, but you know she just doesn't... What's that?
Josh: A bill from Lewis Construction. Why don't we just forget about this?
Cassie: No, I don't want to forget about it, Josh. These are my debts, my obligations. Don't do that, Josh!
Josh: This is business, Cassie. Between you and me. This has nothing to do with Reva.
Cassie: I don't want you doing that!
Josh: Will you listen to me? I appreciate your determination, I really do. But don't let that quality blind you to the people that love you. Accepting help from family is not a sign of weakness. Don't forget that.
Beth: I don't understand how this could happen. The last time I saw that diary, it was in the Spaulding study. Are you sure you didn't take it to read and then... And then...
Bill: What are you talking about, Beth? That doesn't make sense. What I had with Lorelei was private, and I would like it to keep it that way.
Beth: Yeah, well, what you had with Lorelei isn't in there. You tore those pages out of the diary, remember?
Bill: So, what, I had the diary published to make Phillip angry? You think I'm trying to split you two up? That doesn't even make sense. Straight shooter, even Beth should know that. Oh, I forgot about some of this stuff, though, whoo.
Beth: You know, I have to go find Phillip. Maybe he's still at the airstrip...
Bill: Hey, hey, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute. We're not finished here.
Marah: Tony, turn this boat around now.
Tony: No can do.
Marah: Okay, okay, then you realize that this is a kidnapping?
Tony: Some... Some kidnapping. You came on this boat right about when we were about to set sail. Marah, I didn't even bring you here. (Laughs) You know, okay, maybe... Maybe you are holding me hostage. Maybe... Maybe this is piracy. You know what, it's trespassing at the very least. I could have you brought up on charges, Marah.
Marah: You think that this is funny?
Tony: Oh, come on, you know what I think would be so cute? You in one of those orange, little jumpsuits. Yeah, you know, it's not half bad. The food's great. You got steak every Friday...
Marah: Tony, stop kidding around. I want to go back to shore.
Tony: I would if I could, but I got a timetable to keep. I got a job to do.
Marah: You're not going to take me back?
Tony: Once I finish my job, sure.
Marah: How long is that going to take?
Tony: A few hours, give or take.
Marah: Well, I... I can't stay. If you don't turn the boat around, I'm just... I'll swim.
Tony: (Laughs) That's ridiculous.
Marah: No, it's not. We're not that far from shore. I won't be in the water that long.
Tony: Marah, don't even think about it. You won't make it.
Marah: Oh, I won't make it?
Tony: Marah, don't. Don't... Don't do it! Marah!
Beth: I can't... I can't take anymore pressure right now. I can't... I can't talk about... About Lorelei or... Or the crazy wedding or any of it.
Bill: Okay, okay.
Beth: I mean, I know... I know that we have... We have a lot to discuss, but the only thing that I can think about right now...
Bill: ...Is what the people you know and don't know are reading Lorelei's intimate details.
Beth: Yes.
Bill: But what's in that book, that isn't you. You remember that?
Beth: It's partially me.
Bill: You know, I think that's the first time I've ever heard you admit that. Which of course makes us partially married, so...
Beth: I got to go. I've got to go find Phillip. I've got to try to explain to him.
Bill: All right, I'll go with you.
Beth: No, no. I'll be fine.
Bill: Beth, what's going on? You don't look too fine.
Beth: I just...
Bill: What?
Beth: I just have this headache. I have this splitting... Headache and that's how...
Bill: What, what, what?
Beth: That's how Lorelei came out.
Holly: Oh, Phillip, how are you?
Phillip: Oh, never been better. How are you?
Holly: Oh, I feel pretty awful. I had to tell Reva we have to take her show off the air, till this whole mess with Richard clears up.
Phillip: Oh, I'm sure that was tough.
Holly: Yeah. So, I came looking for a friend to cheer me up.
Phillip: Are you looking for Buzz?
Holly: Well, I'm not sure he wants to be my friend these days.
Phillip: Yeah? Well, don't feel bad. Tough to know who your friends are these days, isn't it?
Holly: Yeah. (Cell phone rings) Well, I better go.
Phillip: Okay.
Holly: Take care of yourself.
Phillip: Yeah, you, too. Phillip Spaulding.
Pilot: Yeah, Mr. Spaulding, it's Ned. I'm on the airstrip, east side of Mystic Island. Still no sign of Miss Raines.
Phillip: Miss Raines was detained. Just bring the jet home.
Pilot: Will do.
Phillip: She'll find her own damn way home.
Cassie: Oh, God, this is too much.
(Phone rings)
Reva: Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? Who is this? I'm going to hang up. Okay, jerk.
Josh: What the heck was that? Oh, my. Okay, well, we knew something like this was going to happen, right? I mean, and it did happen, so...
Reva: Yeah. Someone also called and told me to burn in hell, and there have been three or four hang-ups and then times when I've picked up the phone, and there's just been breathing.
Josh: We'll change the phone number if that's what you want to do. You just say the word. (Phone rings) Don't even answer it.
Reva: What if it's Marah?
Josh: I'll get it, okay? Hello.
Woman: You will be punished, all of you. Thou shalt not kill!
Josh: Thank you, I appreciate that very much. Thank you.
Reva: That was one of them, wasn't it?
Josh: Yeah. We're just not going to deal with that tonight, okay? It's over.
Reva: I don't care what the rest of the world thinks of me, as long as the people closest to me understand.
Josh: The people closest to you, Reva, do understand.
Reva: Yeah, well, what about Cassie? Will she ever understand? I mean, that's where you were, right? You went to see my sister?
Josh: Yeah.
Reva: Well, the look on your face isn't very encouraging.
Josh: She's... She's not ready yet to let go of her rage. She's trying to be strong, you know, for her family. But she's about as stubborn as they come. You two are very much alike in some ways.
Reva: Right, yeah. There's just one real big difference. I have you to be here with me, and to sleep next to me, and Cassie's lost the love of her life.
Josh: I just hope her loss doesn't cost me mine.
Marah: Tony, put me down!
Tony: No, I want you to admit that you were going under.
Marah: Tony!
Tony: Admit it, come on.
Marah: Fine, I wouldn't have made it. Just put me down!
Tony: You okay?
Marah: Yes.
Tony: Good. What was that?
Marah: What is that?
Tony: Hello? What the hell is going on up there? Gomez, what'd you do, you hit an iceberg? What? Oh, well, that's great. Yeah, that's just... That's great. All right. Well, can you fix it? (Sighs) Fix it and call me back.
Marah: What?
Tony: We're not going anywhere. We got to stay here overnight.
