Paula: Excuse me. Are you a relative of the Winslow’s?

Reva: Yeah, I’m Cassie Winslow’s sister, Reva Lewis. Why?

Paula: Ms. Lewis, I’m Paula Antonelli, Chief Administrator here at Cedars. I know this is a difficult time for you, but I need to discuss payment matters with your sister.

Reva: Well, you should be discussing it with their insurance company.

Paula: Well, Mr. Winslow has rather limited insurance coverage, not nearly enough to cover all the costs.

Reva: Well, what are you talking, money-wise?

Paula: Truthfully? I'm afraid we're talking a figure far in excess of what his insurance will cover, depending on what the future holds-- cat scans, nursing... I know this is the last thing Mrs. Winslow needs to deal with right now, but...

Reva: Yeah, so I'll do it.

Paula: You'll talk to Mrs. Winslow?

Reva: I'll take care of it. The medical expenses... Everything.

Tammy: He's not moving.

Cassie: I know. He's in a coma, sweetie. It's not uncommon after surgery, but you know, he can hear everything you say-- everything.

Tammy: Hey, Dad. I went to R.J.'s swimming lessons just the other day. You really got to get better because it's a father-son class and I was the only sister there. Can he feel that?

Cassie: I know he can.

Tammy: You've got to get better soon, Dad, because it's summer and we have a lot of stuff to do because school's out.

Cassie: Well, I don't want you worrying about that, because we're going to spend the whole summer together, right, Richard?

Tammy: Dad, you just have to get better. We love you. We need you. But I'll take care of mom and R.J. and Will while... Until you come back. Bye. (Sobbing)

Cassie: I love you, sweetie.

Ed: I mean, don't misunderstand. I admire what you did. I don't think I would have had the courage to do the same thing.

Rick: So what you're really saying here, Dad, is that you're not sure I should have given this man the donor heart. That's what you're saying.

Ed: What bothers me is that you made this decision on your own.

Rick: It's my life, Dad. It's my decision.

Ed: Oh, is it? I mean, you're married now. If you make a decision as big as this, you talk it over with your wife. I mean, you reach that decision together.

Rick: In that moment, I didn't want that little boy to be without a father. And maybe I...

Ed: Maybe what?

Rick: I don't know. Maybe I thought they could find another heart for me in time. But I don't know.

Ed: Well, did you share any of that with Mel?

Rick: There wasn't time, Dad.

Ed: Because she might have backed you up on that decision.

Rick: And maybe she wouldn't have.

Ed: Well, but that's marriage, isn't it? I mean, you do these things together. You agree, you disagree, but you're in it together.

Rick: Well, you know what? I'm sure there are things that she's made decisions on that she hasn't talked to me about.

Ed: Oh, but small ones. I mean, nothing big like this. I mean, how would you feel, just supposing that you're having a child together; she goes off and she names it all on her own, or she takes a job in another state and she doesn't tell you about it.

Rick: She wouldn't have done that.

Ed: That's nothing compared to what we're talking about here. I mean, you gave away a chance for another heart, and you did it without saying a word to anybody.

Rick: I don't know. Maybe I'm just in denial. Maybe I just don't believe I’m going to die.

Ed: Well, you know, they say that doctors are the worst at handling their own illnesses.

Rick: Some doctor I am. Some husband.

Ed: I think you're going to be terrific eventually.

Rick: Which one, Dad? Doctor or husband?

Ed: Both.

Beth: Hey.

Rick: Hey. Hey.

Beth: You're home.

Rick: Hi.

Beth: Good to see you.

Rick: Good to see you, too.

Beth: Hi, Ed. It's good to see you again.

Ed: Yeah, you too.

Beth: So, you're home. Mel must be thrilled.

Michelle: I thought you were leaving for the club.

Danny: It can wait. You and I are more important.

Michelle: Danny, I honestly don't know what else to say to you.

Danny: Well, you could tell me that you love me, or that you will try and understand that I have to take care of both of my families.

Michelle: Me, too.

Danny: What does that mean?

Michelle: It means I want you, but I have to protect myself and I have to protect Robbie.

Danny: You don't think that I can protect you and Robbie?

Michelle: I want Robbie to have the best life possible.

Danny: So do I. So do I. Nothing matters more to me.

Michelle: I know... I know you mean that.

Danny: But you don't think... I have been the best father in the world to Robbie. I always will.

Michelle: Danny, Robbie was in the car with you when you helped Tony escape from the hospital.

Danny: No, Michelle, not again, please. Not again. I had no choice.

Michelle: There's always a choice.

Danny: You know what? Sometimes there isn’t.

Michelle: You put our son in danger, and if you go back to your old life, it will happen again.

Danny: Sometimes my old life comes in a little handy. It brought your father home, didn't it? Why can't you just accept that and let things be?

Michelle: I can't.

Danny: Well, then we got a problem, because I can't continue the way we've been going. There's no... I cannot be happy pretending to be something, someone, that I'm not. Hi, Ed. So I’ll be at the club if you need me.

(Clapping)

Alan: Bravo. Nice performance.

Phillip: Sorry. We didn't see you there.

Alan: Of course you saw me there. Tell me, what are you trying to prove? That you're a bad boy, making out with daddy's girl?

Phillip: Hey, maybe I’m a Spaulding after all. Isn't that what you always wanted me to be?

Alan: Olivia, were you charmed by Phillip’s kiss? Excited by it? Well, Olivia, what are you up to now?

Rick: Well, this... This is great, Beth. This is so beautiful. She's going to be an artist just like her mom. Oh, Beth, please, come on. Come on. I'm the patient here. I need some cheering up, okay?

Beth: I believe that another heart is going to be found for you, and soon.

Rick: There. See, that didn't kill you, did it? See, I... No, seriously, I need all the positive vibes I can get right now, and that was a pretty good effort.

Beth: Rick, if I ask you how you're feeling, will you tell me the truth?

Rick: Oh, probably not. I'm just... You know, I'm sick and tired of telling everybody how sick I am, so...

Beth: I don't blame you. Let's talk about something else, huh?

Rick: Oh, great idea. Let's talk about... Let's talk about you.

Beth: Oh, no. I think we can come up with something better than that.

Rick: I think that's an excellent idea. How's my good buddy treating you these days?

Beth: No complaints.

Rick: Good.

Beth: We're happy. We're taking it slow. We're getting to know each other all over again.

Rick: Oh, I just... I bet Lizzie’s just so thrilled.

Beth: Yeah, she is. She'd be completely happy if she weren't so worried about you.

Rick: What's going on? What are you thinking about, over there?

Beth: Oh... oh, just a silly little thing that I was wondering if you might have an opinion on.

Rick: I'm not going to go anywhere, so why don't you just lay it on me?

Beth: How do you think Phillip would react if he found out I had some unusual experiences when I was Lorelei?

Rick: What kind of experiences are you talking about? Oh, with some other man?

Beth: Maybe. Probably. It's nothing... I don't know anything for sure. It's just these images that...

Rick: Beth, Beth. Come on. I think... I think Phil has a pretty good grip on this whole Lorelei thing, and you know what? Bottom line is he's thrilled to have you back. He adores you, he idolizes you, and you're the love of his life. So, any time spent with Lorelei is not going to change that.

Beth: Being idolized is a pretty scary thing, you know? He puts me up on that pedestal, and what happens when I fall off?

Rick: Well, you know what he's going to do? He's going to put you right back up there again. (Coughs) Sorry.

Beth: What would you think? What would you do if this happened to Mel?

Rick: Oh, see, I'd be perfectly rational. I think I'd start foaming at the mouth and start throwing some plates.

Beth: (Laughs) That's reassuring.

Rick: Seriously, seriously. I would consider her psychological state at the time, that this is probably something that she wasn't responsible for, and more importantly, I'd try to get some sort of reassurance from her that that wouldn't happen again.

Beth: That's fair.

Rick: Can you give that promise to Phillip?

Beth: Honestly, no. Not until I can put Lorelei to rest.

Bill: Hey. Am I interrupting here?

Rick: No.

Beth: No, no, not at all.

Rick: Hey, Bill. I was wondering if you could make some time for us.

Bill: Oh, heck, look at you, huh? You look good. All those rumors must be, well, rumors. Hello, Beth. You know, I'm starting to think you're following me.

Beth: (Laughs)

Reva: Hey. Josh took Tammy and R.J. back to the house.

Cassie: Thanks. And you thank Josh...

Paula: Mrs. Winslow?

Reva: We should discuss...

Paula: Hi. I'm Paula Antonelli.

Cassie: I know who you are. I guess you want to discuss my husband's hospital bills.

Paula: No need. Your sister is taking care of everything.

Cassie: What are you talking about?

Reva: We don't really need to discuss this right now.

Cassie: I want to discuss it right now. What's going on? What has my sister done?

Paula: She's agreed to assume all hospital costs on your husband's behalf.

Cassie: Forget it.

Reva: Cassie...

Cassie: No, Reva. You don't have to take care of me and Richard, okay? We can handle this on our own.

Reva: Don't do this. At least let me help you.

Cassie: Why are you doing this?

Reva: I know you're mad at me, and I deserve it, I guess. But don't freeze me out.

Cassie: You lied to me about my husband, and you encouraged him to keep secrets from me.

Reva: No, no, no. Richard asked me not to tell you about his job until he got back on his feet, and then he was going to tell you.

Cassie: I think you just need to go.

Reva: No.

Cassie: So you're just going to go against my wishes.

Reva: You bet I am, because you're my sister and I have the right to stay here in case you need me.

Danny: Yeah, that's what I said. I need a whole new set of furniture: Desk, chair, sofa. Look, I don't care how much it's going to cost, just get it here as soon as possible.

Carmen: Redecorating?

Danny: You could say that.

Carmen: What would you say?

Danny: Tony got a little nuts and decided to trash the place.

Carmen: Over what? Marah Lewis?

Danny: Mm-hmm.

Carmen: What a waste. That little tramp slept with Romeo, you know.

Danny: Really? Gee, I wonder how he found out about that.

Carmen: Not from me.

Danny: Yeah. Not directly from you. I hope you're happy with that mess you've caused. No, you make the mess and I pick up the pieces.

Carmen: You are, aren't you, Danny? You're picking up the pieces. I didn't think you cared about us, or the family, for that matter.

Danny: Well, maybe you don't know me as well as you thought you did, Mother.

Alan: So, Olivia, what do you hope to gain by me seeing you kiss Phillip?

Olivia: I don't know. What do you think happened, Alan?

Alan: I don't know. I'm asking you. I'm not surprised by your little ploy, but I am surprised by Phillip’s apparent involvement.

Olivia: What, you don't think he finds me attractive?

Alan: It has nothing to do with your attractiveness. He just doesn't play silly games.

Olivia: Oh, silly games. Well, you know, maybe this wasn't a game. Maybe this was real. You know what? I don't really care what you believe. I have to get out of here. I'm turning into a prune. Now, hand me a towel. Time to get out of this wet tub and into a dry martini. Glad you enjoyed the show.

Rick: So I'm assuming you're here to see my sister.

Bill: And you're assuming right, unless it's a bad time, of course.

Rick: No, it's fine. Beth, it's okay with you?

Beth: (Laughs) It's okay by me. I'll lead the way.

Rick: Make yourself useful, would you, please?

Bill: All right, I got you.

Rick: Okay. Michelle? You got company. Michelle?

Michelle: Hey.

Bill: Hey there, beautiful.

Michelle: Bill!

Bill: How you doing? Huh? You miss me?

Michelle: Wait, wait. Who are you again?

Bill: She missed me, all right.

Michelle: Hey, Beth. It's good to see you guys.

Rick: This is so great. Can I get anybody some dip?

Bill: No, I’m fine, thanks.

Rick: Beth?

Beth: I'll have some dip, yes.

Rick: All right. Why don't you take me to the kitchen. I'll give you a culinary experience.

Beth: Oh, exciting.

Bill: You look great. You look great. Motherhood has absolutely been very good to you.

Michelle: Yeah, I guess so. Here, sit down. You're not in a rush, are you?

Bill: No, no, no.

Michelle: So, tell me, what's it like to be back in Springfield?

Bill: Well, it's been very interesting. Not too crazy about seeing Rick in a wheelchair, though.

Michelle: Yeah. Yeah, me too. But we're hoping that he's going to get a heart soon.

Bill: And your dad is back. That's great.

Michelle: Yeah.

Bill: Ben told me that Danny found him.

Michelle: Yeah.

Bill: That is amazing.

Michelle: Yeah.

Bill: Where is old Danny boy?

Michelle: Work.

Bill: Is everything all right?

Michelle: It's fine. It's fine. Why do you ask?

Bill: Just the way you said, "Work." You made it sound like it was a four-letter word.

Michelle: It is a four-letter word. (Laughs)

Bill: You got me there. No, seriously, Michelle, if you need a shoulder to lean on, you know I got one. In fact, I got two.

Michelle: Things aren't really that great between us at the moment.

Bill: What do you mean? Work? The Santos family?

Michelle: All of it.

Bill: Are you serious?

Michelle: Yeah. Yeah.

Bill: Come on, Michelle. You and Danny belong together. I mean, everyone knows that.

Michelle: I don't know. We're so different, and I'm just starting to realize that more and more every day.

Bill: Well, you know what they say: Opposites attract.

Michelle: Opposites also wear each other down after a while.

Bill: Listen, marriage is tough... At least, that's what I’ve heard. (Laughs) That's what I've seen. Seriously, I don't want to make light of your situation here. It's... I just think you should be careful before you write Danny off. I mean, look, you've got so much going on right now.

Michelle: Mm-hmm. And Danny and I have definitely had tough times before, although this feels a little bit different.

Bill: Hey, if anyone knows what it's like to love a Santos, it's yours truly. I mean, you think Pilar and I didn't fight?

Michelle: Yeah, but you guys broke up.

Bill: But I loved her, Michelle. And a part of me always will. That Santos family, they've got some sort of magnetic force that just sucks you in and...

Michelle: Tell me about it.

Bill: Yeah. Come on, hang in there, all right? All right. Well, all right, you used up one shoulder, but the other one, whenever you need it...

Michelle: Thank you.

Bill: All right.

Michelle: I just wish it was this easy to talk with Danny.

(Knock on door)

Ed: Hey.

Danny: Hey.

Ed: Is this a bad time?

Danny: No, no. Come in. Is Rick okay?

Ed: Rick is okay.

Danny: I see. You talked to Michelle.

Ed: She's worried about you.

Danny: I think that's a nice way of saying she's mad at me.

Ed: She also told me how you got the money to get me out of Africa.

Danny: So now you're mad at me.

Ed: I'm grateful, and I always will be.

Danny: Is that what you came here to tell me?

Ed: I didn't come here to really tell you anything. It's not my place to give you lectures on your actions.

Danny: But?

Ed: No, no buts. No buts.

Danny: Okay. Then why are you here?

Ed: Because my daughter's in love with you, and she feels that you are drifting away from her, and if there's any way that I can stop you from making the stupid mistakes I made...

Danny: I'm not you, Ed.

Ed: Okay. I'm coming off like an interfering father-in-law. You love Michelle. Michelle loves you. Don't screw it up by pushing her away, by shutting her out. Talk to her, listen to her, and please be willing to fight for your marriage.

Danny: I am. Of course I am.

Ed: That's it, then.

Danny: Ed, you are an interfering father-in-law. Thanks.

Carmen: Oh. Excuse me.

Ed: I was just leaving.

Carmen: What did he want?

Danny: Nothing to do with you.

Carmen: Danny, everything that affects you affects me.

Danny: Yeah, well, that's going to change, starting right now.

(Medical monitors beeping)

Cassie: I love you so much. I want you to hold on to that love and I want you to use it to climb out of whatever hold you're in, and I want you to use Tammy’s love, and R.J.’s and Will’s. We promised each other we were going to be together forever, for as long as we both shall live. And that's going to be a long, long time.

Beth: Mm, yummy.

Bill: Yes, yes. What is it?

Rick: It's my secret concoction. I can't tell you what's in it until you guess the contents.

Michelle: It's lemonade and iced tea.

Rick: You are no fun.

Bill: Wait, wait, wait a minute. Should you be drinking iced tea? It has caffeine in it. I can't imagine that'd be any good for your heart.

Michelle: Yeah.

Rick: Bill, today is let's not talk about Rick’s health day. Okay?

Michelle: Do you know that every day is let's not talk about Rick’s health day?

Rick: You know, you're a barrel of laughs over there. Let's talk about Bill. Bill... Bill, how long are you planning on staying in Springfield?

Bill: Why? Will you miss me if I go?

Michelle: I will.

Bill: Oh, you will? All right.

Michelle: Please say you're going to stay for a little while at least.

Bill: Well, I did rent a room from Buzz again, so I'll be calling that home, sweet home.

Beth: Well, that's terrific. That's great. I mean, that's great for your family. They must be really pleased. Um, I think I should get going.

Rick: No. No, no. Please, stay. I need you to cheer me up some more.

Beth: (Laughs)

Rick: Besides, I'm tired of creaming my sister in this game. I need some serious competition.

Michelle: You have not been creaming me. I've been beating the socks off you.

Rick: Oh, yeah. Take advantage of an invalid, would you?

Bill: All right, all right, all right, I’ll play.

Rick: (Coughing)

Bill: What is it?

Michelle: It's a stupid word game where you try to make as many words out of the letter cubes as possible.

Beth: Okay. Well, sounds interesting. Bill, you go.

Bill: Okay. All right. Well, thank you. I don't mind embarrassing myself in front of my friends, or anyone else, for that matter. Okay, now...

Michelle: I have the timer ready.

Bill: Countdown. There we go. Okay. Well, we've got slip, slop. Lips. Kiss. Love. Sex.

Michelle: You're really good at this game.

Bill: Yeah, that's what they tell me.

(Medical monitors beeping)

Mel: Cassie? Can I see you for a minute?

Reva: I'll be right here.

Cassie: So, um... So you got the tests back.

Mel: Yeah. He had a re-bleed in his brain.

Cassie: Okay, so you go in and you operate.

Mel: Cassie, it's not that simple. Okay, the re-bleed changes the prognosis. Another surgery would be risky at this point.

Cassie: So you medicate him. You give him more medication.

Mel: We're going to do that, Cassie, but you have to realize that the medication might not work.

Cassie: It's going to work. It has to work.

Mel: Cassie, Richard’s body has taken a very bad beating and the odds are that he's not going to get any better than he is right now.

Cassie: Well, I don't believe that, because miracles happen every day.

Mel: Yes. Yes, they do. But even if we are able to stabilize Richard, he's going to be in tremendous pain. Constant pain. I'm so sorry.

Cassie: God wouldn't do that.

Mel: Cassie, if there's anything I can do...

Cassie: You can just cure my husband, okay?

Rick: Geek.

Beth: Nerd. (Laughter)

Rick: You know what I like so much about today is somebody else is being picked on instead of me.

Michelle: Oh, we do not pick on you.

Beth: No! You're too perfect to be picked on.

Rick: Do you see what I have to put... That's it, I’m calling in the troops, here. That's what I'm doing.

Michelle: Well, "Weevil" will still be spelled with an a.

Rick: Hi. Could you page Dr. Boudreau for me. Yeah, just tell her it's her husband. I love saying that word.

Beth: But how do you spell it, Bill?

Bill: What, "husband" or "Boudreaux"? B-o-u-d-r-e-a-u-x. (Group makes a buzzer sound) What?

Beth, Rick and Michelle: No x!

Bill: Oh.

Rick: Oh, she's not there. Well, okay. Could you just do me a favor and leave a message for her? Just tell her that her husband called, and I need her to come over here fast because... because I love her.

Beth: Aw.

Michelle: Aw.

Beth: So sweet!

Alan: What the hell were you thinking? Why would you jeopardize your relationship with Beth to play some silly game with Olivia? Don't you realize what she is doing, Phillip? She is using you to get to me.

Phillip: Really? See, I thought I was kissing her.

Alan: Well, that's what you think.

Phillip: Oh, I see. So Olivia manipulated the entire thing.

Alan: Yes, because that's what she does. She's waging some kind of war against me, and she is using you as ammunition.

Phillip: Has it occurred to you that maybe I’m waging war against you, and I’m using her as ammunition against you?

Alan: Oh. Oh, oh... You're talking about Zach. Well, I thought we were on the same page in that concern.

Phillip: You are interfering in my life again, and in my son's life.

Alan: Someone has to, Phillip. I am not going to stand by and let that criminal Aitoro raise my grandson!

Phillip: That is not your decision to make! You want to know? You want to know what that kiss with Olivia was really all about? That was about you and about how much like you I can be. You go behind my back again, you're going to find out I am your son, in many ways that you won't like.

(Medical monitors beeping) (Monitor alarm blares)

Cassie: Oh, my God. Oh, my God! Somebody, please get in here! Something's happening!

Mel: Stay out here, please.

Cassie: What is it?

Reva: Cassie.

Cassie: Stop it!

Reva: Cassie, come on, come on. Ssh, ssh. It's going to be all right. It's going to be all right. It's going to be all right. It's going to be all right. Ssh.
