Proofread by BrianEmily: I know what you're up to. You're trying to get pregnant. Don't waste your time trying to deny it. I heard you with Dr. Meadows, and I am telling you, I will be damned in my grave if I let you trap Nikolas like that. He hears the truth tonight.
Mary: I know you're mad.
Emily: Mad?
Mary: But if you do this, if you drop this bombshell on Nikolas; you will blow his life apart.
Emily: This isn't his life, Mary. It's some twisted fantasy of yours!
Mary: You haven't lived with him since the accident. The head injury he suffered is real. If you drop the truth on him out of nowhere, you could push him too hard and cause lasting damage. Do you really hate him being happy with me so much that you'd risk that?
Emily: You're trying to scare me. It's not going to work.
Mary: And if he does believe you -- if he accepts that he's Nikolas Cassadine -- then what? Back to square one. He starts over with a stranger because that's what you are to him, Emily. To Nikolas, his life with you never existed. The only life he knows is here with me.
Emily: It's a lie, Mary.
Mary: Not to Nikolas. I'll be his only memory; the only woman he loves.
Emily: I'm so glad to see you --
Nikolas: Stop, stop. No more lies from either one of you. I know everything.
Sam: That we've got to be more careful. We can't let anyone find out that you're the father of my child. It's hopeless.
Sonny: Don't give up now.
Sam: Well, I think maybe I would be able to get this stuff done if, I don't know, you weren't so distracting.
[Knock on door]
Sonny: What do you want?
Lorenzo: I brought you something. I think you'll find it very enlightening.
Carly: The article that said that she committed arson?
Stuart: More than that. She killed my wife.
Jason: There must be some kind of mistake.
Stuart: Tell it to my dead wife.
Jason: Why would she do it? For what reason?
Stuart: Passions run high when it comes to family.
Carly: Family?
Stuart: Your Sam was my Evelyn’s daughter.
Carly: Are you saying that Sam murdered her own mother?
Sonny: You took a risk in coming here.
Lorenzo: Only if I'm guilty of ordering a hit on you. I'm not.
Sonny: Right, like you had nothing to do with planting that car bomb after the trial.
Lorenzo: I have a soft spot for Carly. I wanted her to have her children. Those boundaries of sentiment still apply. If I wanted you dead, you would be.
Sonny: What do you want?
Lorenzo: The focus off me and on to the real perpetrator. Someone we both know, who has no boundaries whatsoever. There it is -- the proof you've been looking for. Your hit man and the woman who would sooner see us both dead.
Jason: Your wife never told you she had a daughter?
Stuart: That baby was a mistake, an embarrassing reminder of a life that Evelyn just walked out of, wanted to have nothing more to do with.
Carly: It didn't bother you that your wife just abandoned her daughter?
Stuart: It was none of my business. All that happened long before Evelyn and I fell in love. Her past didn't matter. So she tried to put Sam off, but that girl was tenacious -- all the time hounding Evelyn with her incessant questions, waving around photographs of the woman that Evelyn used to be, as if having them gave her some kind of claim. The more Evelyn refused to engage; the more persistent Sam got. She followed Evelyn into town. She staged public scenes. Everybody was talking. I guess I should have realized that it could only come to a bad end. That night, Sam barged in, and she and Evelyn had an awful fight.
Sam: I am your daughter. You don't get to erase me like a mistake you made on a test!
Evelyn: Why can't you understand it? I don't want you. I never did!
Sam: No, Evelyn, stop! Mom, please!
Stuart: In all the years we were together, I never once heard Evelyn so much as raise her voice. But that night something snapped. She threw the girl out. She told her she never wanted to see her again. She told her that if she came back that she would have her arrested for harassment.
Carly: So what happened next?
Stuart: I'd left. I wasn't there, when somebody -- no mystery who -- set fire to the house. It burned to the ground with my wife inside!
Jason: If you weren't there, how do you know? I mean, how can you be sure that Sam was the arsonist?
Stuart: She wasn't just an arsonist! She was a murderer! Didn't you hear what I just said? Sam burned my wife alive! They arrested her that night, and then they -- they let her out on bail! She ran. They convicted her in absentia. If they ever find her, they'll lock her up. That is not justice. Sam needs to die, just like my wife. And I am going to be the one to kill her. So, if you know where she is, you are going to tell me, and you are going to do it now.
Carly: I will do better than that. I will help you pull the trigger.
Nikolas: Let me speak to you alone.
Mary: Connor -- what could you have to say to her that you couldn't --
Nikolas: You heard what I said, Mary.
Emily: I have no problem with it.
Mary: Connor, don't. Please, don’t.
Emily: You know about us, don't you?
Nikolas: Yeah, Emily, I do.
Emily: You're angry.
Nikolas: Oh, you're damn right I am.
Emily: You have every right, but there's a reason --
Nikolas: No, I don't want to hear --
Emily: Why I didn't tell you --
Nikolas: I don't want to hear any more of your lies!
Emily: Let me explain!
Nikolas: I already know. I already know all there is to know, Emily! Game's over, and you're caught! Now, I don't know how I didn't see it before. It was so obvious, the whole "What, what, who me" act, and I -- I’m sure it helps that you have absolutely, absolutely zero conscience.
Emily: Excuse me?
Nikolas: You'll use just about anything, won't you? Even your own breast cancer to hold on to me.
Emily: Wait a minute! You have got this all wrong somehow!
Nikolas: No way! No way! I didn't return your feelings for me, but that just didn't matter to you, Emily. You -- you saw something that you wanted, and your sense of entitlement or whatever it is said that you should have it -- never mind that I was in love with someone else; that I had chosen and married the woman that I wanted to be with the rest of my life. It didn't matter because you -- you just kept coming without any respect for Mary or for me or for the vows that we made to each other. None! And Las Rocas, when you realized that I didn't remember anything, it must have been like -- like Christmas for you, didn't it? Just a clean slate. You could -- you can go from the top and just start up an affair with me. What, did you follow me there? Are you some kind of stalker, Emily?
Emily: I'm -- I’m confused. Are these things that you've remembered or --
Nikolas: I remembered a piece, and I found out the rest. It doesn't --
Emily: From whom?
Nikolas: It doesn't matter! I'm telling you that what you feel for me is sick and you need to move on!
Emily: Look, you don't understand. You love me.
Nikolas: No, I -- no --
Emily: And --
Nikolas: No, I don't love you. Ok? I don't -- I don't love you. You want me to, but I don’t. Ok, I was -- I was confused enough to make a mistake with you one night, but I didn't have all the facts then. I was -- I was weak --
Emily: No, you still --
Nikolas: Hold -- wait!
Emily: Don't have them.
Nikolas: I was weak and you took advantage of that weakness. You just -- you kept lying and lying and lying to me about who we were to each other, making me think that everything was -- was new and fresh and fuzzy. "Oh, I feel like we've known each other for years, blah, blah" crap like it was -- like, fated or something because everything just seemed so familiar.
Nikolas: Of course she has, Emily. She's my wife and she's afraid that she's going to lose me to you! But you know what? That's not going to happen because you -- you and I are nothing, not even friends. Yeah, I don't -- I don't trust you. I don't trust you and I never will again.
Sonny: I just can't help but remember someone took a shot at Faith, too.
Lorenzo: Right. In front of your brother the D.A., who hates you, and Alexis Davis, the most prominent defense attorney in this town. How convenient to have them both on-hand to witness. Come on, Sonny -- this was a setup. Faith hired the ex-con to get rid of you and when he botched the job, she turned to plan B -- make it look like you were coming after the two of us. It's classic Faith Rosco.
Sonny: What do you want in exchange for this evidence?
Lorenzo: I'm convinced we both want the same thing. So I will leave the method of Faith's removal in your capable hands.
Jason: Carly, what are you doing?
Carly: I'm speaking the truth about Sam. Everything that you claim about her rings true with what I know, no matter what name she's using.
Stuart: Sounds like you have your own story to tell.
Carly: Oh, you bet I do. Sam blew into my town, running con after con left and right. Cards, jewelry heists -- you name it. And then she slept with every man whose path she crossed, and then she crossed my husband's. And she tried to steal him; she tried to break up my family. Listen, I want this woman dead and I want her out of this world more than you do. Stuart, you seem to have suffered enough. You leave Sam to me and I promise you I will take care of her for the both of us.
Stuart: Do you mean that?
Jason: Using that on Sam won't bring your wife back. And I'm sorry for your loss. That was good, good distraction. You had Stuart convinced.
Carly: What makes you think I’m kidding?
[Music plays]
Jason: Stuart will probably back down for as long as it takes to get his nerve. What -- what are you looking for?
Carly: My cell phone. I want to call Sonny and I want to tell him exactly --
Jason: No, you're not calling Sonny.
Carly: What we found out -- why not? Sonny knows Sam is hiding something. That's why you are here -- he sent you to investigate. What --
Jason: Yeah, but we do not know anything for sure, Carly.
Carly: Did you not hear what Stuart just said?
Jason: The man is choking on pain. He's bitter about losing his wife. There's always another side to the story -- you know that!
Carly: You mean an opposing lie. That is what Sam does, Jason. She lies, and it is killing me to see you believe this so willingly.
Jason: Sam is the mother of my child. Now, I’m going to give her the chance to tell her side and so will you, Carly. You let me talk to her first and I promise you, if she's guilty, I will turn her -- I will turn her in myself.
Carly: Yeah, whatever.
Jason: You can go home now.
Carly: What are you going to do?
Jason: I'm going to stay here and see if there's anything else I can find out.
Carly: Fine, then I’ll stay with you and I’ll help.
Jason: Why does it always have to be an argument? You're too emotional about Sam.
Carly: Fine. Good luck.
Jason: I'll have a beer.
Man: Understand you've been asking about Sandra McIntire, A.K.A. Sam McCall? Do you know her?
Jason: What's it to you?
Man: What is it?
Faith: A letter, to be delivered only in the event of my death at the hand of Sonny Corinthos.
Man: Carly Corinthos?
Faith: For her eyes only, so keep it in a very safe place. What's inside is explosive. There are people who will kill for it.
Man: Anything else?
Faith: No. That's all -- for now.
Emily: I wanted to protect you.
Nikolas: You -- you watched me struggle with things that didn't make sense to me, flashes of a life that had nothing to do with the one I share with Mary. All the while, you knew it was from your life! You -- you could've helped me, Emily, but you didn't because you're just some spoiled little rich girl who thinks that she can get whatever she wants. Well, guess what -- you -- you can't have me! I -- I love my wife, I’m happy with my wife. I have no intention of leaving her for anyone, and especially not you.
Emily: You're right. You're right. You -- you and I shouldn't be together. Even if you wanted me, and clearly you don't, we'd be starting over at a terrible disadvantage, you --
Nikolas: Starting over?
Emily: Fumbling through emotions that you don't remember or feel, wondering if the gaps I filled in were true or just me, the stalker --
Nikolas: Emily --
Emily: Desperately trying to hold on to you, so it's done! Tell Mary it's over! She wins!
Nikolas: Wait a minute, wait a minute --
Emily: She'll be glad to hear it!
Nikolas: Wait a minute, you -- you make it sound like -- like Mary came in between you and me. Emily, that's not what happened! You're the one who tried to come between us!
Emily: If it helps you to believe that, Connor, then be my guest!
Nikolas: Mary. Oh, God, Mary. Mary? Mary, wake up!
[Knock on door]
Lucky: It's open. Hey, Emily, what are you doing here?
Emily: I don't know. It's late. I shouldn't have come.
Lucky: Wait, don't go. I -- I know about Nikolas.
Emily: Elizabeth told you?
Lucky: Yeah. Why didn't you?
Emily: I thought I was helping Nikolas, Lucky, giving him time to remember on his own.
Lucky: What, you couldn't trust me to do what's best for my brother?
Emily: Please --
Lucky: It was just easier to lie to my face?
Emily: You're furious. You have every right to be, but at this point, I’m too drained to try to explain or justify what I did. All I can do is apologize for hurting you. I handled this so badly, Lucky.
Lucky: Hey. What about you? Elizabeth told me you were going to tell Nikolas the truth. How did he react?
Emily: I didn't tell him. I couldn't.
Paramedic: Good as new. She didn't take enough sleeping pills to put her at risk. It looks like an accidental overdose.
Nikolas: Yeah, well, you know, she's been upset lately, emotional. She probably just wasn't paying attention to what she was doing.
Paramedic: Listen, here's the number to the hospital in case you need that. And I suggest you get your wife some help.
Nikolas: I know you can't hear me right now, but I’m with you, ok? And I'm going to stay with you -- stay with you always.
Jason: Stuart must've called the minute we left his house.
Sheriff: A rare instance of showing a lick of sense.
Jason: Yeah, he's in a lot of pain.
Sheriff: He's also suspicious. Stuart is concerned that you and the woman with you may be trying to pull one over on him, that you're actually friends of Sam's.
Jason: Trust me, that woman is no friend of Sam’s.
Sheriff: How about you?
Jason: I heard there was a reward for her capture.
Sheriff: You heard right. Sam McCall was tried in absentia for murder and found guilty.
Jason: So she didn't get a chance to defend herself?
Sheriff: She ran because she was guilty. That girl burned her mother alive. Now, that's a shame on a lot of levels. Evelyn was much-loved in this town -- beautiful person, both inside and out. She did a lot of good for this community, never took any credit for it. There was a lot of anger over her death. There still is, even after all these years. Now, I’m convinced the safest place for Ms. McCall is exactly where she belongs -- prison.
Sam: Free and easy, come on.
Sonny: All right.
Sam: Just keep them -- keep them closed.
Sonny: They're closed. Ow.
Sam: Sorry.
Sonny: It's all right. Ah.
Sam: Ok. Open.
Sonny: Are you sure?
Sam: Open!
Sonny: All right.
Sam: What do you think?
Sonny: You did this?
Sam: Yeah, all by myself.
Sonny: Max -- Max, Max, Max. Get over here. He must've tried to help you.
Max: You know, this doesn't make any more sense than it did before. We must be missing parts.
Sonny: Really?
Sam: Yep. Thanks, anyway.
Sonny: Yeah, yeah, you were a big help, Max. You can go now.
Max: Ok.
Sam: You can finish your sandwich, though.
Max: Thanks for the sandwich.
Sam: Uh-huh.
Sonny: Oh, wow. You know, I'd have done it. I mean, I was just hurting a little bit.
Sam: Right.
Sonny: I just didn't want to show you up and stuff.
Sam: Hmm.
Sonny: So, what -- what --
Sam: I'm not sure. I don't know. All of a sudden, it just became really important for me to put together my baby's first crib, to be a mother in some small way.
Sonny: Sam -- ahem -- you are a loving, compassionate woman. And that's all that's going to matter to this daughter, not whether you can build furniture or bake cookies.
Sam: Isn't this adorable?
Sonny: Yeah! Yeah, I used to see those a lot after a hard night, you know.
Sam: Oh, yeah, funny. No, look, there's more. You just kind of have to squeeze it. It makes a funny noise.
Sonny: Let me see.
Sam: I think I'm just squeezing it wrong.
Sonny: Let me see.
[Toy squeaks]
Sonny: I can -- let me check it out.
Sam: I know, but I want to -- come here!
Sonny: No, wait, wait, wait. You know what?
Sam: Please? I just --
Sonny: You know what you're probably going to want to do is break this down, right, so you can build it back up so then you can show me up again. Is that what you want to do?
Sam: That would be nice.
Sonny: Yeah. This is -- I came by, Jason wasn't here.
Sam: I wanted to show him the crib.
Carly: Right, pink for the baby girl.
Sonny: Yeah.
[Phone rings]
Sonny: Ok.
[Ring]
Sonny: Is it done?
Man: We're on the Elm Street Pier. There's a problem.
[Sonny sighs]
Sonny: I'll be there in a little bit. I've got to go, Carly. It's business.
Carly: Ok, well, I'll see you later.
Sonny: You're not -- you're staying here?
Carly: Yeah, talk to Sam just for a minute.
Sonny: Um -- ahem -- Jason’s going to be real surprised when he sees what you've done, you know.
Sam: Absolutely. That's the idea.
Carly: Well, you're about to go through a very special bond, aren't you -- parent-child, mother-daughter. Are you afraid?
Sam: Well, isn't every woman who's pregnant with their first child a little afraid? I guess all we can do is try not to repeat the mistakes that were made on us.
Carly: Yeah, I couldn't agree more. Still, the past can be relentless. It stays around in your peripheral vision, just waiting to come front and center when you least expect it.
Sam: What are you getting at, Carly?
Carly: I'm just making observations. Just never know what the future is going to throw at you, do you?
Man: Ms. Rosco insisted on talking to you. She said we'd regret it if we killed her and you didn't hear what she had to say.
Sonny: I don't care what she has to say. Do your job.
Faith: No, no, no, no! I know! Ok!
Sonny: What do you know? Shut up! Using Sam to get your psycho hitman here was a bad idea. And don't deny it, because I know you hired him, see?
Faith: No --
Sonny: See, huh? You see that? This creep could've cost Sam her life and the life of her baby.
Lucky: Tell him the truth.
Emily: I can't, Lucky! He claims to be happy with Mary! And I finally realized that I have to accept that. I mean, besides, it's clear now telling him the truth could only make things worse.
Lucky: Well, Emily, how?
Emily: Nikolas was furious thinking that I have lied to him. If he finds out that Mary’s done nothing but lie, that his perfect marriage to his perfect wife is an illusion, a delusion, Lucky, it could destroy him! I can't be the reason that happens. I still love Nikolas even though it's over, even though he hates me!
[Mary gasps]
Nikolas: It's ok. It's ok. The paramedics were here and you're going to be all right. You're going to be all right.
Mary: What are you still doing here?
Nikolas: Where else would I be?
Mary: Emily?
Nikolas: No, no, she's gone. We don't have to talk about her right now.
Mary: But Emily said --
Nikolas: Well, I know what you tried to do.
Mary: I don't want you to be with me out of guilt or pity. I couldn't stand that.
Nikolas: It's ok.
Mary: Please, Connor, I know you want to be with Emily. Why am I still pretending? The least I could do is call you by your real name so go, Nikolas. Be happy.
Lucky: Um -- ooh.
Emily: Thanks.
Lucky: Now you listen to me -- hey -- you were the best thing that ever came into Nikolas' life.
Emily: He doesn't see me that way, Lucky. To him, I'm clinging and manipulative, a woman from his past who tried to steal him from his wife. Ugh.
Lucky: Is it really over between you and Nikolas?
Emily: Oh, yeah. It's over.
Lucky: Then there's room for something new to start.
Sonny: Do you know what the hell she's trying to say?
Faith: [muffled] You're going to be sorry, Sonny.
Sonny: Shut up!
Man: She wrote a name in the dirt with the toe of her shoe.
Sonny: What name?
Man: Sam.
Sonny: All right. Leave us alone.
Faith: I know.
Sonny: What about Sam?
Faith: I know that you are the father of Sam’s baby.
Sonny: You just gave me all the more reason to want you dead.
Faith: No, there's a letter. It will be delivered to Carly if anything happens to me. You care to guess what's in it?
Jason: I don't know what to think about you, Sam.
Sam: What's going on?
Jason: Nico was right.
Sam: About?
Jason: People are after you.
Sam: Jason, you can't --
Jason: Don't! I just came back from Bailey's Beach. You're wanted there for arson. Tell me, is it true? Did you set the fire that killed your mother?
Sam: Yeah, I did.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Nikolas: What did you call me?
Mary: I thought she told you.
Sonny: You're bluffing.
Faith: You pull that trigger; you blow your own family apart.
Man: Where is Sandra?
Carly: She's in Port Charles, New York.
Jason: How did the house burn? Did you deliberately set that house on fire?
