Proofread by BrianMan: What can I do for you, Connor?
Nikolas: Um -- well, I've -- I've suffered a head injury and lost my memory and need to know if I can get it back.
Georgie: So Lynn’s been lying about everything?
Dillon: How much you want to bet this guy isn't any more related to Lynn than I am?
Georgie: So Lynn’s not running from her dad -- she's running from the cops?
Dillon: Well, hey, you think she's a criminal?
Georgie: Sure fits the way she's been acting.
Dillon: Ok. So, what do we do? Turn her in?
Lynn: You're the only one I love you're the only one
Ned: Who's there?
Lynn: I
Nikolas: When I -- when I woke up, I was at home with my -- with my wife looking down at me. But she was -- she was a stranger. I -- I didn't remember her or anything else about my life up until that point. And any -- any flicker of -- of memories that I have had are just --
Man: Yes?
Nikolas: They -- they just don't really make any sense. It's more like a feeling of, you know, déja vu, that feeling that something couldn't possibly have happened but yet it -- yet it seems familiar?
Man: When did the accident occur?
Nikolas: Mid-March.
Man: And what was the doctor's diagnosis at that time?
Nikolas: Well, I was in the service, so I -- I went to a V.A. hospital. No one's been able to treat the memory loss. But then again, no one's tried. Anyway, a friend of mine did some research and found that -- that hypnosis can sometimes help.
Man: That's true, but only in certain cases.
Nikolas: Well, based on what I’ve -- what I’ve told you, do you think I might respond to treatment?
Man: We need to run some tests. I'd recommend an M.R.I. first to assess for continuous damage to any specific region of the brain. Keep in mind that the memory loss may be irreversible.
Nikolas: Are you saying that I might be like this forever?
Man: No. You're getting ahead of yourself. The first step is to rule out anything pathological, then take it from there.
Nikolas: Oh, ok. All right.
Man: I'll be back.
Nikolas: Hi, it's Connor. I'm at Mercy Hospital. I really need to see you.
Georgie: You wanted to believe her, Dillon.
Dillon: Yeah, I -- I know. I wanted a substitute singer for L&B. Man, there were -- there were so many holes in her story and did I question it even once? No.
Georgie: If it makes you feel any better, I believed her, too.
Dillon: Georgie, I dragged you into this whole thing and the whole time, you were saying, "No, don't."
Georgie: We're too trusting, Dillon. Now what?
Dillon: "Now what"? Now I freak out and wonder if she's gone back to L&B and started cleaning the place out.
Georgie: I don't know. Lynn took off after the recording and she knows that this cop has been around asking questions --
Dillon: Hmm.
Georgie: So -- so maybe she left town.
Dillon: He's waking up. Let's go. Go, go, go, go, go!
Georgie: What? Wait --
Dillon: Just go!
[Ned sighs]
Ned: If you are here, think about it.
Jason: Let's go.
Sonny: You got what you wanted.
Carly: Oh, I'm not so sure. Sam may have just closed the door on Jason, but she opened it wide for you.
Jason: Sam, stop apologizing.
Sam: No, you have been amazing, offering to marry a woman you don't even love simply because you're trying to do the right thing. I mean, you -- you really are a good person, Jason.
Jason: Ok, I just want whatever's best for this baby.
Sam: I know. I know and I do, too, and I thought I made the decision. I really did. I was ready to go through with this. Maybe my mistake was trying to create this ceremony as close to my childhood fantasy as possible.
Jason: Sam, we'll just -- we'll just give it some time, ok? Then we'll just -- we'll elope. We'll have a civil ceremony just like we talked about before.
Sam: No, I'm sorry, Jason. I can't marry you.
Jason: Look, I still think it's good for the baby, Sam. Oh, man -- but if you can't, that's fine. We'll just keep doing what we've been doing, but living together --
Sam: No, no, no, no, Jason, you don't understand! I can't do any of this! I have got to leave town now!
Jason: Look, I know that Carly was angry, but that doesn't --
Sam: No, this has nothing to do with Carly. This is about Sonny's reaction to her -- he was absolutely furious!
Jason: Well, do you blame him?
Sam: Jason, you are missing the point here. You don't react like that to someone unless you love them. This has been staring me in the face the whole time -- I just didn't want to see it. Sonny and Carly have a special bond. Even when he's mad at her, he admires her. Even when they're fighting, he respects her. Even when he can't admit it, when he's not aware of it, Carly is his heart. Jason, she always will be.
Sonny: That's not true.
Carly: Didn't you see the way she looked at you before she left? God, she must have realized that it would be really difficult to sleep with her best friend's wife.
Sonny: No. You know what? She backed out because you were yelling and screaming out there in the hall. You made it sound like Jason was signing up for a lethal injection.
Carly: Yeah, well, I'm not going to apologize for pointing out to Jason that he was about to throw his life away, and I'm thrilled that she didn't marry him.
Sonny: Why is it so damn important? Huh? Do you want to save Jason for Courtney?
Carly: I want to save him for me.
Lynn: Love is somehow worth the cost and I'm not afraid to say
[Lynn turns volume up]
Lynn: You're the only one I love the only one
[Lynn turns volume down]
Georgie: Checking the equipment for sound quality before you go through the trouble of stealing it?
Dillon: Yeah, what's -- what's the deal, Lynn, or whatever your real name is?
Lynn: Um -- what do you mean?
Dillon: Tell me something -- why are you trying to run this whole scam on us? I mean, did you want to rob the place, or what?
Lynn: Dillon, I have no idea what --
Dillon: Hey, wait -- no, stop. Listen to me. I just knocked out the guy you said was your father. Turns out he's a Brooklyn cop, so who are you?
Emily: Hi.
Nikolas: Hey, thanks for -- thanks for coming.
Emily: Yeah. I'm glad you called. So you've decided to go through with hypnosis?
Nikolas: Yeah.
Emily: How does Mary feel about it?
Nikolas: No, she -- she opposes it all the way.
Emily: Why?
Nikolas: Well, she -- she's afraid that it'll bring things up, that it'll -- that it'll hurt me somehow.
Emily: No, how could your memories hurt you?
Nikolas: Yeah, well, there are -- you know, there are risks involved with anything like this and I think she's just trying to protect me.
Emily: So she's upset you're going to do it?
Nikolas: Well, I didn't -- I didn't tell her. I mean, I -- I hate going behind her back like this, but I just -- I feel if I'm to do this --
Emily: Mm-hmm.
Nikolas: I really need to do it for myself.
Emily: Is it you feel that recovering the past could help you move on with your life?
Nikolas: No. No. To tell you the truth, right now I'm feeling the exact opposite. And I'm ready to walk out that door right now, Emily, unless you give me a really good reason why I shouldn't.
Emily: You asked me to make this appointment for you.
Nikolas: I know, but I think I may have acted too quickly.
Emily: Hey, your first instinct was to try it. Something inside of you must want answers.
Nikolas: But that was before I met with the doctor, Emily.
Emily: What, he advised against it?
Nikolas: No. No, he said I should -- he said I should start with an M.R.I.
Emily: Ok.
Nikolas: He said that that will determine if there's any damage to any specific area of my brain, but I -- you know, I -- I got to tell you, Emily, I -- I don't know if I am ready to deal with the reality that the person I used to be is gone forever. I don't --
Emily: But if there's the chance that your brain wasn't damaged --
Nikolas: Look, it's been months now, and I don't remember not one thing.
Emily: Yeah, but you have -- bits and pieces that don't fit.
Nikolas: Bits -- they don't fit -- that's it, that's exactly it. They -- they don't fit. Whatever Mary’s told me about myself, the Connor that she's described, hasn't come back to me. I mean, I feel -- I just feel like I’m drifting further and further apart, trying to act how Connor’s supposed to act without any sense of how I got here or why I feel the way I do.
Emily: Ok, would you really be able to move on until you know one way or another if your memory is truly gone?
Nikolas: I'll have to, anyway.
Emily: If the M.R.I. shows permanent damage and you may never remember your past, then you could let go and move on and focus on the present, on the future, create a new life for yourself however you choose to do it.
Nikolas: I don't know, ok? I don't know.
Emily: But if the scan shows that you could recapture who you used to be; you'd be able to fill in the blanks. You could get answers to all of your questions. All right, you'd feel complete and whole. How can you possibly pass up that chance?
Man: Are you ready?
Nikolas: I'll be -- I’ll be out in a minute.
[Door closes]
Nikolas: Thank you for your help.
Emily: It's a big decision.
Nikolas: Yes. And you've listened to every word of it. I -- I really appreciate your patience, considering you hardly know me. I don't know, I feel -- I feel like I can talk out loud with you and -- and not have you judge me. I mean, I know we've only known each other for I guess a week or so, but it seems like a lot longer. I'm sure that sounds odd, but --
Emily: Not at all. I know what you mean.
Nikolas: Well, why don't -- why don't you throw something back at me? I mean, you've suffered a terrible loss yourself, and all I've done is ask for your help instead of try to help you.
Emily: I'm no saint. Helping you remember your own life keeps my own hope alive.
Nikolas: What is it you're hoping, Emily?
Emily: That someday I’ll be able to find happiness again. That sometime in the future I’ll feel the kind of love I had with Nikolas.
Nikolas: I'm sure you will.
Emily: Anyhow, I -- I'm glad that you've tried to recover your past.
Nikolas: Hmm. Yeah. I don't -- I don't know if it'll work, but if it doesn't, it doesn't.
Emily: I'll help you let go and try to move on.
Nikolas: Thank you. Thank you for everything.
Ned: We've lived on dreams and promises we shared the laughter and the tears and in the times of uncertainty you've been my shelter through the fear
Lois: My pop says I'm crazy, delusional. He says that you are a louse and a weasel and a spoiled rich boy who's been playing with my heart for fun. He also says that Eddie Maine is 3/4 a figment of my imagination and 1/4 you being a lying rat, and that I should let it go, which is what I am exactly prepared to do unless you convince me otherwise.
Ned: I love you, Lois.
Lois: Not convinced.
Ned: I'm alive for the first time in my life. You made me believe in more than just the music. You made me believe in myself, and most of all, in you.
Lois: Slightly convinced.
Ned: I want more than money, more than squabbling, more than family politics. I want to sing. I want to stand on stage in front of a crowd and put myself on the line, and I want you in the wings looking at me, smiling at me. I want to love you, Lois Marie Cerullo. And I want you, and I want you to love me back.
Ned's voice: You're the only one
Lois: Convinced.
Ned's voice: I love ooh
Georgie: What about the Brooklyn cop you said was your dad?
Lynn: I lied, but -- but not because I’m some criminal he's chasing. Look, he's probably just some off-duty cop working as a P.I.
Dillon: Ok, then who's he working for?
Lynn: My mom.
Georgie: Ok, so it's your mother now?
Lynn: Oh, God, look -- my mother is the music promoter. She's the one who's trying to make me a star.
Dillon: Ok. So why not go to your dad?
Lynn: He has a different life. Well, it's not like he didn't try to keep in touch after my parents got divorced, but my mom kind of shut him out.
Dillon: Yeah. I know how that feels.
Lynn: Look, I'm really sorry I didn't tell the truth before, but this is why I can't sing for you, ok? Look, that cop -- he's still after me. I have to leave town!
Dillon: Hey -- why don't you just stop running instead?
Jason: You expected him to be?
Sam: No, I just -- I figured you'd probably call him to warn him I was leaving, that's all.
Jason: Well, then you'll tell him if you want to, Sam.
Sam: So you're not going to try and stop me?
Jason: I've tried to stop you. Look, I can't keep you prisoner, ok? If you want to go, you're going to go.
Sam: I'm sorry. I wish there was a perfect solution. But maybe there never is, huh?
Jason: Sonny will come after you -- maybe that's what you wanted.
Sam: When I was at the altar, there was this split second that everything became clear to me. I was making the decision to get married partly for the baby but also for me, because somewhere deep down inside, I thought that I’d have a chance with Sonny. That once this baby was born, he would want to spend time with us, and then he would love me and then he would want us to be his family. Jason, I know it wasn't rational, but it was there -- until I saw him with Carly. You don't have to worry, Jason. Michael is not going to lose his family, because no matter how much Sonny cares about me, it will always be about Carly in the end.
Jason: Do you know how long it could take them to figure that out, Sam, if they do? Do you know how much damage they can cause in the meantime? Michael can't go through that again.
Sam: I know, I know. You are trying to think about Michael, but I have got to think about my baby! If I have to live across the hall from Sonny and Carly, watching them grow closer, seeing their marriage blossom into love again, I would become angry and bitter, and I don't want that for my child, Jason!
Jason: Yeah, but I -- I'd be there to help you.
Sam: I know. I know. You have -- you have been amazing about this, and this child would be so lucky to have you as a father. You've been focused on two things from the very beginning -- doing what's right for this baby, and giving Sonny and Carly a chance to be together again. Jason, if I leave, both of those things can happen. I'll be out of Sonny and Carly’s lives, and then I'll be able to find really, really good parents to adopt my baby.
Jason: Sonny's never going to let that happen, Sam.
Sam: He doesn't want to lose his family, either, Jason. You're probably the only person on this planet that can convince him not to come after me. So just talk to him, ok?
[Sam sighs]
Sonny: Oh. Ok. And that's going to change if he got married? Come on, you stopped the wedding because you don't want to compete with Sam. You like having Jason around 24/7 to bail you out of whatever crazy thing you pull.
Carly: Yeah, like you don't impose on Jason? Come on. You expect him to live his life according to whatever you want.
Sonny: You think I wanted Jason to marry Sam? I hated the idea, but Jason wanted to do it.
Carly: Yeah, well, Jason was wrong, and I happen to be his best friend. I was not going to sit by and watch him make the biggest mistake of his life.
Sonny: Jason's a grown man; he makes his own decisions.
Carly: Oh, come on, Sonny. You can't honestly think that Sam would be good for Jason. She's a user. She used Jax, then she used you, and she moved right on --
Sonny: Jason did what he wanted to do! Why can't you get that? They got married for the baby's sake!
Carly: Well, you know what? Jason doesn't have to be married to be a good father. In fact, Jason and that baby would be a hell of a lot better off if once Sam gave birth, she moved halfway across the planet.
Sonny: Sam's an expectant mother. You forced her to walk out of her own wedding.
Carly: I did what I had to to protect my friend and myself. And if you don't like it, it's too bad.
Lynn: Probably.
Dillon: Ok. So -- so take a stand. Take -- you know, I mean, record with L&B and -- and be the singer that you want to be.
Lynn: Look, my mom can still stop me, ok? I'm still a minor.
Georgie: Lynn, you can get around that by getting yourself emancipated.
Dillon: Yeah, I know. Like my cousin Justus, he's an awesome attorney. He could do the paperwork for you like that.
[Dillon snaps his fingers]
Lynn: Uh -- look, I don't know, guys. It's --
Georgie: Look, I've -- I've heard every story in the book, I have.
Lynn: Ok, hold on, I’m sorry. You?
Georgie: Yes. I'm the police commissioner's daughter. People spin the most amazing stories to get off, but yours sounds real. So let Dillon and I help you.
Lynn: Look, it's a great offer, but I just don't see it working out.
Dillon: Why don't you just meet with Justus? Just meet with him.
Lynn: Look, really, thanks, but I have to move on, ok? And, hey, for what it's worth, I really don't think you have to worry about Sage what's-her-name stealing Dillon away from you. I mean, look, I know that I said you'd get your heart stomped on, but I was completely off-base. Georgie, you were right. Dillon's different. He really does seem to love you.
Georgie: It was an exaggeration. I mean, I didn't say those things about Sage, not --
Dillon: Hey, stop. I know. You know that Sage doesn't have a chance with me, ok?
Georgie: So, what do you want to do now?
[Dillon sighs]
Dillon: Oh, what do I want to do now? Uh -- I don't know, maybe try wrapping my brain around directing a video for Sage Alcazar, "Wannabe pop sensation"?
Georgie: Ew.
Dillon: Yeah.
Georgie: Wouldn't you rather take a walk?
Dillon: I would love to take a walk.
Georgie: Let's go.
Ned: And two full-time parents. She is not going to grow up without a father like I did.
Lois: You promise?
Ned: Cross my heart.
Tracy: What are you looking at?
Ned: Nothing that ever mattered to you, mother.
Jason: Sonny, I’ve tried over and over. I can't lock her in her room.
Sonny: How's she traveling?
Jason: I don't know.
Sonny: Car? What do you mean, you don't know?
Jason: I don't know!
Sonny: Well, I'm going to have to go after her.
Jason: You could be hurting Sam and everyone else if you do.
Sonny: Do I have a choice?
Jason: Yes, you do. You can give her some time. Maybe she'll change her mind and realize things can work out.
Sonny: Maybe she'll cover her tracks so I won't be able to find her, and she'll give up my baby to some strangers! That can't happen!
Jason: Do you -- do you really care about Sam?
Sonny: Why do you ask me that?
Jason: Because, Sonny, I think she needs space. Something happened to her today in church.
Sonny: Yeah, I'll tell you what happened to her -- Carly made her feel like a criminal --
Jason: Carly is not the reason she called off the wedding. You are.
Sonny: What are you talking about?
Jason: It hurt Sam so much to see you with Carly. She thinks you guys have this bond no one's ever going to break. She wants your marriage to work; she just doesn't want to watch it, Sonny. That's why she left!
Sonny: I got to find her.
Jason: Sonny, just -- just let me --
Emily: How was it?
Nikolas: It was easy and painless.
Emily: Yeah.
Nikolas: Yeah, assuming the machine didn't get thrown off by my mind going a mile a minute, the doctor should have the results back right away.
Emily: He'll know if there's any brain damage?
Nikolas: Yeah. Yeah, and if there's any -- any possibility that I’ll get my memory back, as well.
Emily: No matter what the results are, you'll still be able to have a full life.
Nikolas: I already do. I'm lucky to be alive, you know?
Emily: Yeah.
Nikolas: I -- I have a wife I love; a job that pays well. It's not -- not too boring.
Emily: Yeah.
Nikolas: And I'm -- and I’m glad that I have you as a friend, Emily. You've been terrific. I don't know if you know how much that means to me.
Emily: I think I do.
Man: The results are conclusive.
Tracy: Oh, goodie -- Ned’s midlife crisis, the sequel.
Ned: Mother, I loved it. I loved that time, and I loved Lois. We created a whole life together, a business that reflected who we were, what we wanted.
Tracy: Ned, you made a fool of yourself with Lois. You played dress up and pretended at a life.
Ned: No, it wasn't pretend, it was real -- until it all fell apart, with able assistance from you.
Tracy: You are not and never were Eddie Maine, a rock singer. You're Ned Ashton, my son.
Ned: And who the hell is that?
Jason: You did what you did, ok? There's no point in yelling. Sam's gone.
Carly: What do you mean, she's gone?
Jason: She left, Carly.
Carly: What, and you let her go?
Jason: Her mind was made up.
Carly: Jason, I’m -- I'm sorry -- not that I stopped the wedding, but the baby. I -- I know what children mean to you, and if she left because of me, then I am really --
Jason: No, no, it was more -- it was more than that.
Carly: Why did she leave?
Jason: You know, standing at the altar, she -- she realized how real this was, and that it wasn't right to start a family with a man she didn't love.
Carly: Right. So in other words, she wanted to be free so she could try again with Sonny.
Jason: No, I don't think so.
Carly: Come on, Jason, don't defend her. The woman left without giving a second's thought to how you would feel about it.
Jason: I let her go, Carly.
Carly: Yeah, of course you did, Jason, because that's you. You always say people have a right to make their own choices. This is your choice, too. She cannot just leave with your baby. Listen, don't worry, we'll get your child back. It's not over.
Jason: You're right, it isn't. Sonny's gone after her.
Nikolas: Look, I'm not looking for guarantees here, ok? I just want to know if there's hope.
Man: The M.R.I. showed no specific area of damage to your brain. There's every reason to hope that your memory will return, either spontaneously or with the aid of hypnosis.
Nikolas: Ok, thank you.
Man: I'll give you some time to consider your options, then we'll discuss how you want to proceed.
Nikolas: Ok.
[Nikolas sighs]
Nikolas: What's wrong? Why are you crying?
Tracy: Don't be ridiculous, Ned. I couldn't be happier with my life, and I'm just trying to prevent you from making a shamble of yours. That's what a mother does for her son -- she protects him.
Ned: Oh. Well, there's a new twist.
Tracy: Lois is a case in point -- she was pushy, low-class, and not remotely interested in you.
Ned: Really? She married me -- twice.
Tracy: Ha! Sweetheart, take off the rose-colored glasses. She was in love with Eddie Maine, the man she created. And as long as you were willing to play that part, you could be with her. But as soon as she got sight of the Quartermaine that you really are, she took that child and she left. She went right back to her little hovel in Brooklyn. She never understood you, much less loved you.
Ned: Well maybe that's true. Maybe that is true, but I liked who I was with Lois better than who I am now.
Lynn: Look, you can't make me go back, ok? I'd rather collect spare change and live in a homeless shelter. No!
Frank: You don't have a choice, little girl. Come on.
Lynn: Let me go!
Frank: Come on.
Dillon: Call your dad.
Georgie: Dillon, wait!
Jason: Please, Carly, don't do this right now.
Carly: No arguments, no challenge -- do what? Do what, face reality? You know what, let him go to Sam, find her, stay with her, whatever. I really don't care. I really don't care if I ever lay eyes on Sonny again.
Nun: What is her name?
Sonny: Her name is Sam McCall.
Nun: I'll let the sister know you're here.
Sonny: Thank you, sister.
[Sonny sighs]
Sonny: Holy Mary, please pray for me. I made a promise to my wife and children. I have another child that I'm looking for and I need to know which path to take. If you could just help me find Sam and this baby and keep them safe while I'm on my way.
[Opera music plays]
Lynn: How much is my mother paying you to drag me back to her so she can ruin my life?
Nikolas: I'd like to start the hypnotherapy.
Man: We can start right now.
Carly: Sam is gone. You're free to go back to Courtney.
Jax: You're in Italy. Just enjoy yourself. Forget about the rest of the world.
