Nikolas: Are you sure?
Mary: Yes.
Nikolas: Yeah?
Mary: I want to be with you, Connor.
[Knock on door]
Emily: Mary? It's Emily!
Nikolas: Don't answer it.
Mary: Just stay here. I'll be right back.
Emily: Hi, Mary. I'm sorry to stop by so late.
Mary: That's ok.
Emily: Thank you. I just needed someone to talk to.
Mary: I could meet you at breakfast. Kelly’s in the morning?
Emily: Oh, you know, I'll just be a minute. I have a surprise for you.
Tracy: Ok, you're about to become my partner in the boardroom and the bedroom.
Jax: No. I'm afraid your offer's been declined.
Jason: Sam?
Sam: Ahem. What do you want?
Jason: Sonny needs to see you.
Sam: He's going to tell me he doesn't want to be with me, right?
Sonny: Yeah. Um -- I promised if he let our son live then I would make sure that Michael had his family again. I want you and the boys to come home so we can live together.
Carly: No.
Sonny: Carly, I know how you feel about me, but this -- this is for Michael, and he needs us both.
Carly: Sonny, I am not the answer to your prayers.
Mary: Thank you. I appreciate it. I'll stop by the hospital in the morning.
Emily: You know, Mary, you've been so generous with your time, listening to me go on and on about Nikolas, and --
Mary: Well, you miss him terribly. Talking about him helps ease the pain. I wish I could just tell you that it gets easier with time.
Emily: You know, most people either pity me or they want me to get over it and move on, but, you know, you understand that that kind of love isn't something that you just get over, you know? And I've been putting up a front and pretending that I'm starting to get on with my life, but the truth is that I think about Nikolas all the time. And it's more than that, Mary. It's something almost physical. It's as if Nikolas is close to me, you know, and if I just turn around and look, he'll be there and -- how do you do it, Mary? How do you learn to get up in the morning and make it through your day without feeling devastated by your loss?
Skye: Luke, I -- I told you, you know, I -- I walked past Kelly’s; I dropped my bag. Ross came up; he -- he helped me. We started flirting and I asked him back to my place. I -- I don't think anyone saw us.
Luke: But you're not sure.
Skye: Well, my senses weren't exactly their sharpest at that moment.
Luke: Well, that's too bad because cops have a habit of taking it personally when one of their own shows up dead.
Skye: No kidding. Why do you think I’ve been fighting off the urge to panic the last few days, huh, to keep myself from running around like a chicken with their head cut off?
Luke: All right, all we can do then is you keep trying to remember if anybody saw you leave with him and we both keep our eye out for anybody nosing around.
Skye: You mean besides the PCPD?
Lucky: Hey.
Luke: Hey, cowboy.
Lucky: Hey. I'm following up on the disappearance of Detective Ross Duncan and I need to ask a few questions.
Jax: Tracy, whatever trap you're trying to set, it won't work.
Tracy: Think again. Something quite astonishing fell into my lap.
Jax: You have nothing on me.
Tracy: That's true. However, it's not true for somebody you care about.
Jax: What is this?
Tracy: See for yourself.
[Tracy hums]
Sam: It's not hard to guess. I knew what I was getting into from the start. Sonny and Carly have an incredibly strong bond, not to mention two children that they adore. It was only a matter of time before they got back together.
Jason: Come on, I'll drive you.
Sam: You know what? Why don't -- I'm not going to wait around to get kicked to the curb, so you just -- you tell Sonny that he's going to have to come find me, ok?
Sonny: But it's what Michael wants.
Carly: It would be a lie. Michael is too smart for that. You know, he would hear us fighting behind closed doors and he'd want to fix it, and he couldn’t. I mean, look at the way he's already acting out. How could it possibly be good for me to move in? How could it be good for him or Morgan? I don't want them growing up watching us fighting; watching us actually pretend -- we're going to pretend that we're happy, Sonny, we're -- do you know what we'd be teaching them? We'd be teaching them that nothing is what it seems, and they wouldn't have a safe or secure home, and that there's no honesty between us.
Sonny: It doesn't have to be like that. You know, I mean --
Carly: But it would be.
Sonny: God spared Michael. I -- he gave him back to us. I'm going to keep that promise I made to him. I am not giving up until Michael gets the family he needs.
Mike: Hey, honey. Listen, how's Michael?
Courtney: He is on his way to a full recovery, yeah. I was just with him a little while ago. He's asleep.
Mike: Well, that's great news. Can he have visitors yet?
Courtney: Oh, the doctors will let you in. Sonny might not.
Mike: Listen, Sonny can be as angry or as unreasonable as he wants, but little Michael needs his family around him.
Courtney: Not when we're fighting.
Mike: But that is Sonny's problem, not ours. You need to see that kid and so do I. We're -- we're on our way to see Michael.
Sonny: You asking my permission?
Mike: Not in this life.
Sonny: So what are you doing? You going to pick a fight with me here, too, in the hospital?
Courtney: Come on, guys. Sonny, look, we're Michael’s family, too. Shouldn't he know that he's been in our thoughts and prayers?
Sonny: I guess it might do him some good.
Courtney: Thank you.
Sonny: He's awake right now. You can go see him.
Jason: I spoke with Sam.
Sonny: She's going to be at the penthouse?
Jason: She, uh -- she says that you need to go to her. She thinks you're going to break up with her.
Carly: No, we're not fighting.
Michael: So we can be a family again?
Carly: Michael, we're always a family.
Michael: I mean, like, living together -- you, daddy, me, and Morgan.
Carly: Ok. How about we not think about that right now, because I think that's what you got you in trouble in the first place.
Michael: Don't you still love daddy?
Carly: Michael, I love you, ok, and you need to get some rest right now. So close those eyes, ok? I'm just going to step outside. I'll be right back, ok?
Michael: Ok, mom.
Carly: Ok. Rest.
Courtney: Hey.
Mike: Hey.
Carly: Hey, hey!
Courtney: How's Michael?
Carly: He's fine. He's resting a little bit, but I'm sure he'll be really happy to see both of you guys.
Mike: Good. Well, I'll -- I'll go in and see Michael.
Carly: Good.
Courtney: I'll be in in a minute. Ok --
Carly: Hey.
Courtney: What's wrong?
Carly: Oh, let's see. Sonny asked me to move back in with him, and I can't.
Jax: You're suggesting this is him in the photograph?
Tracy: Oh, yes. Uh-huh. Dead as a doornail and put on ice by your oh-so-charming ex.
Lucky: Well, he was one of the cops who arrested Faith for money laundering.
Skye: Really? Well, then I -- I guess I should know that name, but I'm afraid he hasn't made much of an impression.
Luke: Ms. Quartermaine has the good sense to avoid cops whenever possible.
Tracy: Actually, I overheard one of the dealers say that he saw Skye drunk as a skunk and looking for trouble when our blue-faced friend followed her out. It gets better. I went up to Skye’s house to discuss a family matter and just happened to see Luke hauling the dead body across the floor in a desperate attempt to conceal the crime.
Jax: Well, it sounds like Luke did it, doesn't it?
Tracy: That's what you're hoping.
Jax: He's certainly capable of it.
Tracy: He may be. However, it was Skye that was suspected of killing Luis Alcazar in a drunken haze. However, this time she is irrefutably guilty, and these photos tell the tale, and I know where the body is buried -- well, sort of. In any case, I think there's enough evidence for the police to convict her to life in prison, unless they want to save the taxpayers money and give her a lethal injection.
Jax: Skye isn't my wife. She's my ex.
Tracy: I know that. But for some reason you are inexplicably still connected.
Jax: I respect Skye a great deal and, yes, I will always --
Tracy: Oh, please. She is a loser and a drunk. You need to spend a few months with a real woman.
Jax: You know, if you'd let me finish, I was going to say if Skye’s guilty, she deserves what she gets.
Tracy: She does. You're absolutely right. Oh, look! There's Officer Spencer! I'm going to go make his day.
Emily: How did you learn to cope?
Mary: I forced myself to get out of bed every day. I did my errands; I talked to a few friends. Basically, I just forced myself to put one foot in front of the other every day.
[Glass breaks]
Emily: Oh, my God. You're not alone.
Mary: No, I'm not alone.
Emily: Why'd you let me ramble on like that, Mary? Why didn't you tell me this was a bad time?
Mary: I was going to say something, but you had to talk, and I know how that feels.
Emily: Yeah. Um -- thanks for listening.
Nikolas: I didn't realize you were such a good liar.
Lucky: Duncan. We were just talking about him. He was last seen here before he disappeared.
Tracy: Really? Did you see him?
Skye: I honestly don't recall.
Tracy: Isn't that odd? I thought all club owners keep track of their patrons.
Skye: Well, Tracy, we get very busy here at night. I can't be expected to cover all of the bases.
Tracy: On the contrary, I think you cover all the bases extremely well.
Jax: Tracy, you're not deserting me, are you?
Tracy: I don't know. Am I?
Jax: I need you at the tables. You're my lucky charm.
Tracy: Do we have a deal?
Jax: Absolutely not. You could've faked those pictures.
Tracy: Ugh. You're grasping at straws, my friend.
Jax: Look, I know firsthand that you're capable of just about anything. So until you come up with better proof, there's no deal.
Sonny: I asked Carly to move back in with me. She turned me down.
Jason: She say why?
Sonny: Well, you know, she thinks that we'd be living a lie and that we would damage the kids. She can only see the ways we hurt each other, the reasons why not instead of the reasons why, but, Jason, I made a promise. You know what I mean? I made a promise to Michael. I cannot break my word.
Jason: Ok, I understand that, but if you're really thinking about this, you know, maybe it would help if the two of you work some things out before she moves back in.
Sonny: This is not about us. Like a marriage counselor?
Jason: No, like a priest. I'm just saying you don't want to fall into the same old patterns.
Sonny: Whatever Carly and I have to work out, we'll do it after she and the boys move back in.
Courtney: Maybe it is that simple. Maybe you're just overthinking it.
Carly: No, I'm being realistic. Michael wants a fantasy of a family that does not exist.
Courtney: Carly, Michael has been surrounded by bodyguards ever since he can remember. This isn't a kid living in a fantasy.
Carly: But, Courtney, when it comes to me and Sonny, he expects us to be perfect.
Courtney: No, he doesn't.
Carly: Yeah. You should've seen his face when he woke up and he saw the two of us together. It was so hopeful and it was so just eager.
Courtney: Well, Michael believes that you and Sonny still love each other, and he knows if you believed it, too, you guys could overcome any obstacle in your way.
Carly: Ok, now who's the one who's dreaming?
Courtney: Ok, look Carly, I know why you're fighting this. You're afraid that you're going to fall back in love with Sonny.
Carly: Sonny and I are parents together, and that's as far as it goes. Anything else is over.
Courtney: Why?
Carly: Let's -- let's pull one thing out of the hat -- Sam.
Courtney: Oh, come on, Carly. You don't honestly believe that he loves her?
Carly: It's got nothing to do with love, Courtney. It's about keeping score. You know how it works. You disagree with Sonny, five points off. You cross him, 10 points off. You do something that he thinks is betrayal, ok, you're out of the game. And right now, Sam’s playing the game perfectly, ok? So let her enjoy it. She's keeping her mouth shut; she's doing what she's told. Let her have the fun while it lasts. I'm out of it. I am standing on my own two feet.
Courtney: Well, you know that Sonny's not going to give up.
Carly: Listen to me, this was a promise he made to God. It's not mine and I'm not going to get sucked back in if I don't want to be.
Courtney: Ok, well, what if there is a part of you that wants to? Carly, I’m not saying go back for him, but maybe -- maybe you should go back for you. Hey, look, I saw you guys when you were in love, and, Carly, you were happy.
Carly: I can't live that life anymore, and you should understand that because you walked away, too.
Courtney: Yeah, well, I don't have children, Carly, you do. Talk to Sonny and tell him what you want out of this marriage. Maybe he'll be willing to compromise.
Carly: Sonny is not going to change. He's not. And you know what's going to happen? I will end up in the same awful situation again. I'm not afraid of falling in love with Sonny, let me tell you that. What I’m afraid of is what we're going to do to each other if we live together.
[Phone rings]
Carly: Hey, Lorenzo. Yeah, he's -- he's doing well, thanks. Thanks for your concern. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I need to see you. It's important. Ok, bye.
Courtney: So, what, you're going to push Sonny away by pretending to go back to Alcazar?
Carly: Who said anything about pretending?
Mary: I wasn't sure what to say. I haven't known Emily very long, but I feel very close to her.
Nikolas: Ok, then why didn't you tell her I’ve come back?
Mary: I didn't want to burden her with that secret. Emily's in a lot of pain right now, and I just wish that we could both have our lives back. Because she loves her fiancé as much as I love you, and I'm not sure how to fix it.
Nikolas: Well, I don't know, maybe -- maybe you want her to believe you've moved on because you think she should. I -- but, you know, I think that's good advice for all of us. Here, put this down. Come here. Look, let's not think about the past anymore, ok, and let's not worry about the future anymore. You're my wife, and I want to be with you, ok? What, what? Please?
Mary: I want to be with you, too.
Doctor: You're pregnant, Ms. McCall, and well on your way. By my exam, you're approximately 10 weeks.
Sam: I knew it. I just couldn't quite believe it.
Doctor: I gather this wasn't planned?
Sam: No. Not at all.
Doctor: Are you all right?
Sam: Mm-hmm. It's just going to be kind of a shock to the father, that's all.
Doctor: He might surprise you. A lot of men view a child as the end of life as they know it. They're afraid their freedom will be a thing of the past. But when faced with the reality of their baby, they see it as a miracle, a chance for a new beginning.
Sam: Right. Thank you.
Doctor: Make an appointment with your ob-gyn, and don't wait to tell the father. The sooner the better.
Sam: We need to talk. I just came from the clinic, and -- there's no easy way to say this. I'm pregnant.
Sonny: You're what?
Sam: I know we didn't plan this.
Sonny: We didn't plan it, but you sure as hell did. You knew I was getting back with my wife. You pulled the oldest trick in the book.
Sam: No, Sonny, that is not what --
Sonny: I love Michael and Morgan, so you figured any child of mine would be part of my life. Well, it doesn't work that way! I don't even want to see that kid, if there even is a kid! This whole thing's probably a pathetic lie!
Sam: No, I did not --
Sonny: Get out of my sight! You're nothing to me!
Michael: Hi, daddy.
Sonny: So guess what -- the doctor says you're getting better, right, and you're going to be out of the hospital real soon.
Michael: I want to come home with you. I want us all to live together again.
Sonny: How many times do I got to explain this to you, buddy? You can't fix things. It's up to me. But I have been thinking a lot about what you said, you know, about being a family again and not fighting, right? And I'm going to do everything I can to figure out a way to make that happen.
Carly: Sonny wants me to move back in.
Lorenzo: And is that a problem?
Carly: Yeah, because I’ve finally gotten away. I'm finally starting my life on my own, and I don't want to get pulled back in. And I know -- I know that if I move in, it could happen.
Lorenzo: Sonny can't force you to go back to him. I'll protect you.
Carly: Lorenzo, your intentions -- I know that they are good. It's your methods that I have a problem with.
Lorenzo: Look, I know we've had our troubles, but we can put them behind us. We can move on; make a new start. We should be together.
Luke: Well, I don't think Lucky suspects anything.
Skye: Yet.
Luke: I think we've covered ourselves pretty well.
Skye: Yeah, you mean the tracks we made together, Luke. What about before you showed up at the lake house, huh? One minute, I'm having sex with some guy. The next thing I know, I'm waking up to a corpse.
Luke: Well, you probably passed out after your roll in the hay.
Skye: I could've done anything. There could be pieces of evidence all over that place just waiting for the police to find it.
Luke: Darling, one problem at a time. Right now, I’m concerned about Tracy being so damn pleased with herself.
Skye: Yeah, I know. She's dropping hints, like, every three words.
Luke: What's up with Jax? Why is he so cozy with her?
Tracy: I'll talk to the police and tell them the truth.
Jax: Skye's innocent, and you know it.
Tracy: Good. Then she should be able to withstand a full-scale police investigation, not to mention a trial. I think the jury will be sympathetic -- not guilty by virtue of being a spoiled, self-pitying, blind-drunk tramp?
Jax: You know, you're jumping to conclusions, as usual.
Tracy: Doll, why are you fighting this so hard? Being with me is going to be a pleasure beyond your wildest imaginings.
Jax: Ok, fine, you have a deal.
Tracy: So can we seal it with more than a handshake?
Jax: Tracy, don't push it.
Michael: Thanks. Daddy said we'd be a family again.
Courtney: He did? Well, I hope that happens, sweetie, but you just never know.
Michael: He said he'd try.
Courtney: Well, then you need to do your part and try and get better, ok? Ok? You need to take it easy and rest and get stronger. You need to do everything that your doctors tell you to.
Michael: I will.
Courtney: Ok, here. There you go. Night, sweetie.
Michael: Night. Bye, Aunt Courtney. Sleep tight.
Courtney: Don't let the bedbugs bite.
Jason: Is Michael ok?
Courtney: You know, Sonny told him that they're going to be a family again. It's not fair to build his hopes up that way, Jason. I mean, he's only going to get disappointed.
Jason: Why, did Carly tell you something?
Carly: Lorenzo, we have really hurt each other.
Lorenzo: I love you, and I know in your heart that you love me, too. So come, be with me, a part of my life. I'll never hurt you; try to force you into being someone you're not. You say yes and I will make you happier than you have ever dreamed, Carly.
Carly: I'm sorry. I'm not -- I’m not ready yet.
Lorenzo: No. I misunderstood your intentions. You came here thinking you could use me to push Sonny away, didn't you?
Carly: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Sam: Hey, we need to talk. Ahem, I just got back from the clinic, and -- there's no easy way to say this, Sonny. I'm pregnant.
Sonny: You're pregnant?
Sam: Yeah. I know this is a complication neither of us planned --
Sonny: Complication? We're bringing a new life into this world. How can that be anything less than a miracle?
Sam: I thought you were going to be angry with me and think that I did this on purpose to manipulate you.
Sonny: You are not capable of that.
Sam: I would never lie to you about something like this, about anything.
Sonny: We trust each other. We just -- we can build on that.
Sam: I just don't want you to feel obligated. You have two children already.
Sonny: And now I'm going to have another one, with somebody I'm beginning to love. We're going to do this together, ok? I'm going to do everything I can to make sure you and our child are happy.
Sam: Thank you.
Sam: Ahem.
[Phone rings]
Sonny: Hello?
Sam: Hey, it's me.
Sonny: Sam, what's wrong?
Sam: Look, I kind of, um -- I got upset with Jason earlier, and I really need to see you.
Sonny: I'm at the hospital.
Sam: Can you meet me at the penthouse later?
Sonny: Yeah, yeah. I'll be right there.
Lucky: Hey.
Emily: Hey.
Lucky: How's Michael doing?
Emily: Oh, much better, thank God. Ahem.
Lucky: Hey, what's on your mind?
Emily: It's just something that happened earlier tonight. I mean, I suppose it shouldn't have bothered me, but it did. I went by Mary’s house earlier to tell her about this new job opening at the hospital, and I could've just called, but I wanted to see her in person, you know, just to -- to talk about Nikolas and --
Lucky: Hey, listen --
Emily: How much I miss him.
Lucky: If you ever need someone to talk to, you know I’m always here for you.
Emily: I know, Lucky; you've been so wonderful. But, see, Mary’s suffered the same kind of loss, you know, which is why it threw me so much when I heard a noise. I mean, it turns out that she had company. She -- there was a guy in her bedroom, Lucky.
Lucky: Well, did you -- did you think that was way too soon for that to happen?
Emily: Yeah, you know, I mean, I know it's none of my business, but --
Lucky: Maybe -- maybe Mary’s just trying to find a way to keep living her life.
Emily: It's just, you know, she -- she loved her husband so much, you know, the way I loved Nikolas, and still do. I -- it's hard to imagine how I could ever move on.
Nikolas: Hey, where did -- I'm sorry. Where did I get this tattoo?
Mary: Oh. In boot camp. You -- you had a night off, you and the boys, and you went out for a night out on the town and you drank too much beer and ended up at a tattoo parlor.
Nikolas: What does the design mean?
Mary: I'm not sure. Just a design you picked out on the display.
Nikolas: It's pretty unique. I mean, I must have asked what it was, right?
Mary: Can we just change the subject? I -- I freaked out when you got it. I'm so happy right now. I don't ever want that feeling to go away.
Jason: Sonny made a promise to Michael, and he's motivated to try to work things out if Carly doesn't lie to him again.
Courtney: If Sonny wants his family back, he needs to find a way to make his marriage work.
Jason: Courtney, I'm not -- I’m not saying that this is a great idea.
Courtney: Ok, then maybe you could talk him out of it, at least get him to wait.
Jason: Sonny is trying to give Michael what he wants.
Courtney: Sonny and Carly have to want it, too, Jason. They need to learn how to trust each other again or they are going to break Michael’s heart and their own.
Sonny: It doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure I -- I know why you're here.
Carly: I'll move back in.
Sonny: Thanks.
Nikolas: By the way you've been acting, I’d say you're trying to find a graceful way out of a one-night stand.
Jason: So much for being honest with Sonny.
Courtney: He asked her to move back in with him.
Carly: I don't think that this reconciliation is going to be as easy as you seem to think.
