Tracy: "I, Edward Quartermaine, am fully and solely responsible for negligence in the Port Charles Hotel fire. My family had no knowledge of the fire safety codes and are free from blame. It is all my fault."

Skye: Oh, my God. Even if Edward survives, he'll be ruined.

Tracy: It's brilliant. We're all in the clear!

Skye: What the hell is wrong with you?

Tracy: Let go of me.

Ned: Skye, don’t.

Carly: There are two men still inside that building! You can't just give up on them! What is wrong with you?

Courtney: He's still in there. We have to get him, Carly!

Carly: We're not going anywhere.

Courtney: Jason.

Courtney: Oh, my God. I didn't think that you were going to get out.

Jason: I'm ok. It's ok.

Courtney: God, I love you so much.

Jason: I love you, too. I've just got to talk to Emily.

Courtney: Ok.

Emily: Thank God you're ok. We -- we had to leave Nikolas up on that roof. He's still inside that building.

Jason: I know he is.

Emily: Now, he could be trying to get out right now.

Jason: Emily, I don't -- I don't think he is.

Emily: No, no, no, you -- you were inside and you walked out ok. There's a chance that Nikolas made it, too.

Jason: I -- I saw Nikolas inside.

Emily: He was alive, right?

Jason: I was -- I was trapped in a stairwell. Capelli handcuffed me to a pipe and he took off, and thank God Nikolas --

Emily: And he saved your life.

Jason: Came with an ax, and he chopped my -- yes, he saved my life. But the ax -- it damaged a gas pipe, and there was an explosion. Ok, we got out of the stairwell, we went into the corridor. I was just -- you know, I was a little bit ahead of Nikolas --

[Creaking]

Jason: And we were separated by the blast. Nikolas? Nikolas! The ceiling caved in, and when I came to, you know, I -- I tried to find Nikolas. I -- I kept saying his name, and then I could barely see him through some flames, and then there was these beams in front of me, and the rubble was so high and the floor started to go. Emily, I’m --

Emily: No.

Jason: I'm sorry. I waited -- I waited as long as I could.

Emily: If he's hurt, Jason, he can't dig himself out.

Jason: Emily --

Emily: If he's hurt -- he can't dig himself out!

Jason: Hey --

Emily: No, no, he's buried! We can -- we can still --

Jason: Emily, no --

Emily: We can get him!

Jason: No, it's too late.

Emily: Don't tell me that! He was unconscious! You can't know Nikolas is -- please. Listen, Jason, we can still hope! Oh, God --

Skye: Your father is fighting for his life, and all you care about is his bank account?

Tracy: You don't understand him.

Justus: Skye has a point.

Tracy: Oh -- you don't understand him any better than she does! My father spent a lifetime building a legacy for his children and his grandchildren, and how did we repay him? Alan -- a doctor, no head for business. His two sons -- a thug and a thief. Then there's my two sons -- Ned, who can't be bothered with his grandfather's life's work, and my son Dillon, who wants to go to film school. So that leaves me, doesn't it? The daughter he pretends to hate. He wants me to believe that I don't count. He challenged me to survive against all odds, and guess what -- it worked. I'm still here, and I'm stronger than the whole lot of you.

Dillon: Why are you doing this?

Tracy: Because it's what my father would want. His fondest wish in life was that his family would prosper. He signed that confession to save us from financial ruin.

Alan: Father will do whatever he has to for the good of this family. He obviously doesn't expect to live through the surgery. So he wants the responsibility of the fire to die with him.

Tracy: Thank you, Alan, and bravo. You may be a -- a pale shadow of your father, but at least you understand the way he thinks, which is more than the rest of you.

Dillon: Mom, are you ok?

Tracy: Hon, haven't you been listening? I'm fine. I just understand what my father's trying to do.

Dillon: You're afraid grandfather is going to die.

Tracy: Don't be maudlin, dear. I just refuse to stand around and wring my hands.

Dillon: No, no, no, no, no. You love grandfather, and that's ok. I see it. He loves you, too.

Justus: How long does open-heart surgery take, anyway?

Skye: Last time Edward had a heart attack; he faked a coma and convinced me I’d pulled the plug.

Justus: I hadn't heard about that one.

Skye: He doesn't even like me most of the time. Why do I even care?

Justus: Well, that's -- that's one of Edward’s many gifts -- making people feel as though they should care even though they know they shouldn’t. I guess he's got us both hooked.

Dillon: Do you remember that one Easter in Paris? You sent grandfather this really, really nice, really, like, beautiful, sort of antique watch that you bought from along the Champs Elysees? It was raining that day? I remember, we were standing in the shop, and you were telling the clerk how the wrapping had to be perfect.

Tracy: I think you're confusing me with some movie.

Dillon: No, I'm not. I'm not. That package came back a week later "return to sender." And the bellboy brought it up to our room, you told me to take it outside and throw it in the Seine.

Tracy: Mm-hmm. You must've enjoyed that.

Dillon: I didn't throw it away. I still have it -- box and all.

Tracy: Why did you do that?

Dillon: Because when you thought I was gone, you started to cry. And that was the first time that I had ever seen you do something like that, and it made me realize you love your father. And maybe someday you'd want another chance. I don't know, maybe you'd want to let him know that you were out shopping one day, and you thought of him.

Tracy: Dillon --

Dillon: I have it. I still have it. I have it in my room. I can go get it, you can give it to him right when he comes out of surgery, ok?

Tracy: He won't want it, and if you don't understand why, then I really have failed you.

Dillon: What?

Tracy: That Easter that I sent him the present, I showed weakness. That's why he sent it back.

Dillon: Oh, God, mom, he was wrong. Grandfather was wrong. When you reject somebody, you're -- you're not teaching them something, you're not making them stronger. You're making them feel alone, that's it.

Tracy: I guess I love you the way my father loves me. I know it's not easy, but it's who we are. Daddy and I fight all the time. But we respect each other, and that's more valuable than sentiment.

Dillon: So you'd rather I respect you than love you?

Tracy: I don't need you to think fondly of me. What I need -- what I need is for you to stand up for yourself.

Dillon: Whether I like it or not?

Tracy: Mm-hmm. Whether you like it or not.

Emily: Excuse me, I need to find my fiancé. We were separated at the fire. He's probably hurt.

Nurse: Well, first, let's get you settled.

Emily: His name is Nikolas Cassadine, and he has dark and dark eyes. He's about 5'11".

Nurse: Ok, I'll check as soon as I can.

Emily: He could be in shock! There were so many explosions --

Jason: Emily, you need to let the doctors examine you, ok?

Nurse: All right, put her in five. I'm sorry, you'll have to wait out here.

Carly: Thanks -- um -- again for coming and finding me.

Lorenzo: Hmm. I didn't have a choice. I wasn't going to lose you. Anyway, I can't take all the credit. We'd probably still be in there if Sonny hadn't hot-wired that elevator.

Carly: Yeah, well, maybe after everything we've gone through, after all the lives that were lost, maybe we -- we can come to some kind of compromise and Sonny won't fight me for the kids.

Officer: Jason Morgan? You're under arrest for the attempted murder of --

Jason: Come on.

Officer: Detective Brian Beck.

Carly: You can't do this. He needs to see a doctor.

Officer: You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to an attorney.

Jason: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sonny: I'll call Justus.

Jason: Call Justus.

Officer: If you can't afford an attorney, one will be provided for you.

Jason: Yeah, ok, I know them.

Courtney: I'll meet you down there, ok?

Jason: No, there's nothing you can do, ok? Just find Alan and Monica and tell them that Emily’s here.

Courtney: Ok. Excuse me? Can you page Alan and Monica Quartermaine? Their daughter, Emily, was just admitted. I'm Courtney Morgan, I’m family.

Nurse: Courtney Morgan?

Courtney: Yes.

Nurse: Do you know detective Brian Beck?

Courtney: Yeah.

Nurse: He's been asking for you all night.

Carly: I'm -- I’m going to go down to the police station. Jason's going to need someone to bail him out.

Lorenzo: I'm sure his attorney can handle it, Carly.

Carly: He is my dearest friend. He almost died tonight. I need to make sure I get --

Lorenzo: Jason would want you to take care of yourself. You need to have a doctor check you for smoke inhalation, then you need to go home and rest.

Carly: What home? My hotel room just burned down. You know, I should go find my mother so I have someplace --

Lorenzo: I was hoping you'd come home with me.

Tracy: He's out of surgery.

Dillon: We haven't heard from the surgeon yet, though.

Ned: How does he look?

Dillon: Oh -- pale, old. Sometimes I forget how old he's getting.

Skye: Bobbie, how's he doing?

Bobbie: Well, Edward is in stable condition, but he does need rest. So, only one of you in at a time.

Tracy: That would be me. Daddy?

Edward: Oh, God. It's finally happened. I've died and gone to hell.

Courtney: What happened to Brian Beck? Somebody said that he was asking for me.

Orderly: Detective Beck was taken to surgery.

Courtney: Is he ok?

Orderly: There were complications. He recently suffered another gunshot wound -- it barely healed.

Emily: You have to check me out of here.

Alan: What are you doing, sweetheart? You need your rest.

Emily: I want you to take me back to the hotel.

Monica: Emily, there is nothing you could do there.

Emily: Jason said he saw Nikolas on the 16th floor. That means he's still in the building. I have to make sure that they're looking for him.

Alan: Listen to me, it's been too long. The smoke alone --

Emily: No, Nikolas is alive! Don't treat me like I'm crazy!

Monica: You're not crazy, Emily, but you are in shock.

Emily: I don't have time to argue. Are you going to drive me there, or do you want me to walk?

Elizabeth: I'll take you.

Sam: The doctor says I'm fine. Are you just going to head home?

Sonny: Yeah. I got -- I got you a room at the Cosmopolitan.

Sam: Thank you. I -- I’m just going to stay on my boat.

Sonny: No, it's already set. The bed's made.

Sam: Really, I'll be fine.

Sonny: You just survived a fire. The least you can do is let me treat you to a night in a hotel room. If nothing else, you know, you got the hot tub, room service.

Sam: Ok. Ok, but I'm going to pay you back, though, ok? I'm really happy that you're ok, Sonny.

Sonny: Yeah, I'm fine. You know, the feeling is mutual, you know? I told you I went by to see -- to see how you were --

Sam: I know, and thank you. I -- I appreciate that, but you don't ever have to worry about me. I think I've told you that before.

Sonny: Well, I think you might have told me that a few times.

Sam: Yeah, I know.

Sonny: Yeah, well --

Sam: It was just -- it was crazy in that hotel. People were panicked, and they were running all over the place.

Sonny: Where'd you see Jax again?

Sam: On the 16th floor. I mean, we weren't looking for each other. It just -- it just kind of happened.

[Carly coughs]

Lorenzo: Ahem, ahem. Sage, why don't you get some rest. We'll talk about why you were at the hotel in the morning.

[Lorenzo coughs]

Sage: Thank you for rescuing me. I love you, Uncle Lorenzo.

Lorenzo: I love you, too, Sage. Get some sleep.

Sage: Good night, Carly.

Carly: Good night, Sage.

Lorenzo: Can I fix you a drink?

Carly: No, thanks.

Lorenzo: How about a hot bath?

Carly: That sounds like heaven.

Lorenzo: I want you to feel at home here.

Carly: Isn't it awkward for you, having me in your home while your niece is here?

Lorenzo: No, it's just the opposite. I'm hoping you'll like it enough to stay permanently.

Edward: The fire?

Tracy: Ned's handling the press right now down at the hotel.

Edward: I -- I signed an affidavit.

Tracy: You did, daddy. It was brilliant. No one's going to convict an old man with a heart condition of criminal negligence. Now all you have to do is get better. I'll take it from here.

Edward: I'm not dead yet.

Tracy: Daddy, you taught me how to do this. I'm going to handle this situation exactly the way you want me to.

Emily: Nikolas and I are connected, mom. I would feel it if he were gone.

Monica: Emily, we all want to believe that Nikolas is alive.

Emily: No, I don't "want to believe." I know Nikolas isn't dead.

Alan: Emily is injured. She shouldn't be running around searching for a man she's never going to find.

Elizabeth: I understand. However, when I thought Lucky was dead, I had to accept his loss in my own time, and that's exactly what she needs to do with Nikolas.

Alan: I'm trying to make it easier on her.

Elizabeth: Ok, then just give her the space and support to deal with it in her own way.

Monica: Don't do this, Emily, please.

Emily: Don't fight me. I'm going to find Nikolas.

Alan: Monica --

Monica: What?

Alan: Let her go. Let her do it her own way.

Emily: He's alive. You'll see.

Alan: Ohh.

Ric: Detective Capelli claims that you tried to kill him tonight. Apparently that's why he left you alone in the hotel, but I have my own theories about that.

Jason: I got nothing to say without my attorney present, Ric.

Ric: Well, you know what? You might change your tune, Jason, once you hear what I have to say now.

[Jason sighs]

Ric: I know this isn't new information to you, but I happen to know that Capelli is on Alcazar's payroll. I also happen to know that he did want to kill you tonight, and the fire gave him every ample opportunity to do so. He chained you to that pole, left you there to burn, assuming that the PCPD was going to back up his claims that you tried to escape. Now, you tell me that Capelli tried to kill you tonight, and I will pull his badge, and I will charge him with attempted murder.

Jason: I want my lawyer.

Ric: Jason, your facing charges of attempted murder yourself, with special circumstances for shooting Beck. So I think you --

Justus: You're questioning my client without benefit of counsel. That's a violation of Mr. Morgan's rights. I want him released right now.

Ric: Mr. Morgan is being charged with shooting a police officer. You know what? If Beck dies, and you're convicted, the state could have you executed.

Doctor: Mrs. Beck?

Courtney: No, I'm -- I'm just a friend. Actually, Brian’s wife died a long time ago.

Doctor: I'm sorry to hear that. I was hoping to speak with his next of kin.

Courtney: Why? Brian came through the surgery ok, right?

Doctor: It's hard to say. His injuries were extensive. I'm afraid all we can do now is wait.

[Courtney sighs]

[Sonny sighs]

Michael: Daddy!

Sonny: Hey! Come here. Oh. I love you. You know that, right?

Michael: I love you, too, daddy.

Sonny: What's going on?

Michael: Grandpa Mike came over and he told that you and mommy were in a fire, but you were ok.

Sonny: Yeah, yeah, we're fine. So are Aunt Courtney and Uncle Jason.

Michael: Why didn't mommy come home with you?

Sonny: She -- she's staying somewhere else, but she's fine. And you can call her tomorrow if you want.

Michael: But I want to see her right now. Please.

Lorenzo: Sage gave you some clothes.

Carly: Yeah. She's very, very generous, considering she can't stand me.

Lorenzo: She barely knows you.

Carly: Sage -- she doesn't think that I appreciate you. She's wrong. You saved my life, and it wasn't just tonight. Thank you.

Lorenzo: Well, you can express your gratitude by staying here.

Carly: You know, I really do appreciate the invitation, but I'm fighting for custody of the boys, and I don't think it would look very good for me to move in here with you.

Lorenzo: Mm-hmm.

Carly: And I don't think it would be easy for them. I don't think they'd get it. They'd be confused. It's -- it's not that I don't want to see you.

Lorenzo: I have the perfect solution -- the Skycliff house. You can stay there as long as you want. There's plenty of room for you and the boys.

Carly: Yeah, but you bought that house for yourself.

Lorenzo: And now I'm lending it to you. Once you get your finances settled, you can pay rent if you want.

Carly: I will.

Lorenzo: So you'll live there?

Carly: Yeah, for the time being. Thank you for your help.

Lorenzo: Carly, there is so much I want to give you.

[Phone rings]

Lorenzo: Excuse me.

[Ring]

Lorenzo: Yes. Hello?

Sonny: Let me speak to Carly.

Lorenzo: It's Sonny.

Carly: Sonny?

Sonny: Yeah. Uh -- Michael’s worried about you.

Carly: Let me talk to him.

Sonny: It'd be better if you just came over because, you know, that way he can see for himself that you're ok.

Carly: Tonight?

Sonny: Yeah, tonight. Carly -- come alone.

Ned: It's too early to determine the cause of the fire, but, obviously, the Quartermaine family is cooperating fully with the authorities.

Reporter: Is it true Nikolas Cassadine was killed in the fire?

Ned: Uh -- a list of the dead and injured has not yet been released. Our hearts go out to the families of those lost in tonight's tragedy.

Reporter: E.L.Q.'s taken a plunge in the market. Do you believe tonight's fire will add to the downward spiral?

Ned: Uh -- that's all for tonight.

Emily: The fire is out! If you won't go back in there to look for my fiancé, then I will!

Ned: Captain? I'll handle this, all right? Thank you. Emily, let's go. You should be at the hospital.

Emily: No, I came back to look for Nikolas.

Elizabeth: She thinks he's still trapped inside.

Ned: Honey, the fire was burning for hours, the building is in ruins.

Emily: Nikolas is alive, and he needs me! If no one will help me go in there and find him, then I'll just -- I'll do it on my own!

Ned: Don't do this. Emily --

Elizabeth: Ned, Ned, Ned, Ned! You know what, just let her go.

Ned: She might find him dead.

Elizabeth: She loves him; she has a right to look for him. You can't protect her from what she might find.

[Ned sighs]

Emily: Nikolas, I’m here! Just call out to me! Nikolas!

Monica: How's Edward?

Skye: Oh -- well, he's awake.

Dillon: My mom's in with him right now.

Alan: You left Tracy alone with my father when he's too weak to defend himself?

Tracy: Where have you two been?

Monica: We've been with Emily.

Alan: Our daughter has lost her fiancé.

Helena: That's all Nikolas was to you -- a boy in love with your daughter. Now, my grandson is gone. He's gone and I will spend the rest of my life seeing the Quartermaines pay -- every last one of you.

Jason: Ok, someone shot at me. I shot back. When I ducked to get out of the way, Brian was lying there bleeding.

Justus: Were you wearing the sweatshirt?

Jason: No, not when I fired. I picked it up later.

Justus: Where?

Jason: On the floor. I used it for protection from the smoke.

Justus: Did you find that sweatshirt in the vicinity of where Detective Beck was shot?

Jason: Same floor.

Justus: I want you to tell this to Lansing.

Jason: No, you talk to Lansing!

Justus: Detective Beck said he was shot by a man wearing a sweatshirt! That wasn't you, Jason. This is a case of mistaken identity, and I want you to tell this to the D.A.

[Door opens]

Ric: Ballistics report is coming back on the bullet that was removed from Brian Beck's chest.

Justus: You won't find a match.

Ric: Maybe Jason ditched the gun and used a different one, huh?

Justus: Come on, did you find a weapon with Jason’s prints on it?

Ric: Look, how are you going to get around the fact that Beck I.D.’d Jason as the gunman?

Justus: He I.D.’d a man in a hooded sweatshirt.

Ric: Yeah, which we all saw your client wearing.

Justus: My client found that sweatshirt in the fire! He used it for protection!

Ric: That's wonderful, counselor --

Jason: Why don't you ask Beck if he saw the shooter's face?

Ric: Ok, and what if he said it was you, Jason?

Jason: He's lying! I did not shoot Detective Beck!

Courtney: Don't -- don't say anything. You just got out of surgery.

Brian: You're ok?

Courtney: Yeah, I am. I made out of the building safe and sound.

Brian: I'm sorry.

Courtney: No, Brian. Come on, just rest. You have nothing to apologize for.

Brian: I should have been honest with you.

Lorenzo: Couldn't sleep?

Sage: I keep thinking about the fire.

Lorenzo: Why don't we sit down over here?

Sage: Are we going to have that talk you mentioned?

Lorenzo: We are going to have a discussion about acceptable behavior, but not tonight. I'm just going to sit here and be glad you're safe.

Sage: I would've died if you wouldn't have found us.

Lorenzo: Well, I did, so there's no point worrying about it.

Sage: Uncle Lorenzo, you were so brave and heroic, and you're acting like it's some boring, ordinary thing.

Lorenzo: Well, that's where you're wrong, Sage. The two people I love most in this world could've died tonight. I am incredibly grateful that you are both safe.

Sage: "Both" being me and Carly? Where'd she go, anyway?

Lorenzo: She wanted to be with her children.

Michael: Mommy!

Carly: Hey! Hey -- oh, hey, Mr. Man! Oh, it is so good to see you! Ohh.

Michael: Were you scared in the fire?

Carly: Only a little bit because I knew I’d get out because I had to see you and Morgan again. But, you know, the whole time I was in there, I was thinking of you and Morgan and -- and thinking about your beautiful, smiling faces looking up at me, and just how lucky I am to have you. You know what? It is very late, and I think I should tuck you in.

Michael: Will you stay after I fall asleep?

Carly: Sweetheart, I'm sorry --

Michael: I don't want you to leave! Why can't everything go back to be the way it was again?

Ned: She can't keep this up much longer.

Elizabeth: She needs to know she did everything she could. It's the only way she'll accept the truth.

Emily: Nikolas -- Nikolas, I’m here! Call out to me! Nikolas!

Helena: Now that Nikolas is gone, I have nothing to live for but vengeance.

Justus: Mrs. Cassadine, we certainly --

Helena: Retribution is my special gift. Years ago I cursed Luke and Laura. Now Laura’s a vegetable, and Luke is slowly drinking himself to death.

Skye: Luke survived a lot worse than you -- tonight alone.

Helena: I'll make sorrow and regret your constant companions.

Tracy: You're barking mad.

Helena: Yes, and you will be, too, when you've lost your sons as I lost my grandson.

Skye: Come on, this is the last thing Nikolas would want.

Helena: Don't you presume to speak for my grandson! His death will be avenged, and you will all pay dearly! You -- you most of all.

Tracy: Good grief! That woman is melodramatic.

Alan: Well, Helena’s hex obviously solves our liability problem -- we'll all be dead within the week.

Tracy: Alan, there is no liability problem. Daddy took full responsibility for the fire.

Justus: That may not be enough. E.L.Q. could still be held accountable for the fire and the resulting loss of life. The wrongful death suits alone could bankrupt the family.

Tracy: E.L.Q. is my father's legacy. We will not lose it. We're going to find a way out of this.

Ric: Ballistics report just came back on the bullet that was used to shoot Detective Beck. It didn't come from Jason’s gun.

Andy: Well, he must've tossed the real weapon in the fire.

Ric: Yeah, that's a possibility, but unless we recover the weapon, it really doesn't help us.

Andy: Well, it doesn't matter because Beck I.D.’d Morgan.

Ric: No. Brian didn't see the shooter's face. He told the paramedics on the way to G.H. All he saw was a hooded figure firing from a distance. It's not enough to hold Mr. Morgan here.

Andy: So you're going to let this punk walk?

Ric: As soon as the paperwork's done, Mr. Morgan is free to go.

[Heart monitor beeps]

Brian: The first time I saw you at my house --

Courtney: When you came there to fix the banister.

Brian: Something about you made me feel again.

Courtney: You're freezing.

Brian: I'll be all right.

Courtney: Ok, we can talk as soon as the doctor checks you out, I promise.

Brian: I let Lansing talk me into working you for information. Big mistake.

Courtney: Hey, Brian, it's ok. It's over now.

Brian: I did love you, Courtney.

Courtney: You're going to be all right.

Brian: I know. Karen and Henry are waiting for me.

Courtney: Nurse, we need some help in here!

Brian: Be happy, Courtney.

[Heart monitor accelerates]

[Heart monitor flat-lines]

Sonny: All right, listen, buddy. Some things are going to change, but not the most important ones like how much your mom and I love you.

Carly: Your daddy and I -- we just want you and Morgan to be happy, and we always will.

Michael: Where will you sleep?

Carly: Well, I arranged for a nice house with a big room for you and Morgan.

Sonny: Hey -- you got to get to bed, ok?

Michael: I want both of you to tuck me in.

Carly: Ok. Come on. Let's go. Thank you.

Sonny: Hey.

Jax: No, I don't think they're going to recover the safe from the hotel, but we have copies in Switzerland. I need you to wire-transfer them to the Port Charles bank. All right, very good. Get back to me as soon as you can.

Sam: Jax?

Jax: Hey. I just called the hospital. They said you'd left.

Sam: Yeah, the doctor said that I was fine.

Jax: So, you're -- you're homeless now. Will you be staying on the Lazarus?

Sam: Not tonight.

Jax: Oh.

Sam: You're homeless, too.

Jax: Yeah, I'll be fine. I'm -- I’m resourceful.

Sam: Yeah, no kidding.

[Sirens]

Sam: You saved my life -- again -- and I thank you so much.

Jax: Sam, you're welcome.

Sam: I need another favor.

Jax: You don't have to ask. I believe in discretion. I'm not going to discuss the details of what happened between us in the hotel, especially with Sonny.

Sam: You have to understand something, that I meant what I said before, and I do not regret anything --

Jax: Hey --

Sam: That has happened between us.

Jax: We had a moment and it passed. But you have every reason to be afraid of Sonny's reaction. I mean, you've seen the way he turned on Carly.

Sam: Well, Sonny and I aren't involved like that, Jax.

Jax: He's a very hard man. He's very stubborn, and soon you will see how ugly Sonny can be once he realizes he's been betrayed.

Sonny: No, I'm fine. Thanks for doing this. You know, Michael feels safe.

Carly: Yeah. Um -- I need to know that you're going to do the same thing for Michael tomorrow when I come to pick up the boys.

Sonny: You're not taking the kids.

Carly: Sonny, I have temporary custody.

Sonny: You're not going to enforce that, are you, Carly?

Carly: Don't make me --

Sonny: Then -- no, I mean --

Carly: What?

Sonny: Do what you got to do, but you're not taking the kids.

Carly: Sonny, I don't want to fight about this.

Sonny: Then don't fight. I don't want to fight, either. I don't want them near Alcazar.

Carly: You know, Sonny, think about this. Think about what you --

Sonny: No. Look, I don't want to fight. I don't want to fight with you. Do you think I want to put you through this? I don't want to put you through this, but I will. My sons stay with me.

Carly: Sonny --

Sonny: My sons stay with me.

[Door slams]

Carly: Nice -- wake up the kids.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Helena: Get out.

Alexis: I'm running this family.

Luke: Any word on Nikolas?

Lucky: They haven't found his body yet.

Emily: Why didn't you warn Nikolas he was risking his life?

[Heart monitor accelerates]

Edward: Emily -- help me!

Courtney: Did you kill Brian?

Jason: No, I didn't.

Courtney: But you were going to, though, weren't you?
