Nikolas: Marriage is a big step.

Elizabeth: Let's do it right away.

Jax: You want my help?

Carly: Yes.

Jax: Then I’ll stay.

Melissa: Where are your pills?

Edward: I don't need any pills.

Roy: Paramedics are on their way.

Melissa: Good.

Courtney: Start!

A.J.: Problem?

Mike: But I don't know what you mean.

Sonny: How could you walk out on two children in the same lifetime?

Lucky: You want to get married New Year's Eve? This New Year’s Eve?

Elizabeth: Right on the stroke of midnight.

Gia: Oh, that is so incredibly romantic.

Nikolas: Romantic it is. I just -- I don't know. It's too soon. I don't think there's enough time to put together a decent wedding.

Elizabeth: Well, I don't need anything fancy. Do you?

Lucky: Me?

Elizabeth: Well, you said you wanted to elope. Getting married on New Year’s Eve is the next best thing to eloping. So, what do you say?

Lucky: I say we do it.

Elizabeth: I love you.

Lucky: I love you, too.

Edward: Will you stop fussing with me!

Melissa: What's the matter with you? Most people would kill for this kind of attention. It's a little something I like to call patient care.

Edward: I had a twinge. I did not have a heart attack.

Melissa: Okay, well, you call it whatever you want, but with your medical history, we're going to monitor you for 24 hours.

Edward: Oh, please. Nobody cares if I'm alive or lying face down in the park.

Melissa: No, I don't think that's true.

Edward: I nearly collapsed dead on the floor in front of my son and grandson and they laughed at me. The fact remains, my dear deluded Florence Nightingale, nobody cares.

Melissa: I don't like to have to argue with a man in a hospital bed, but I think you're wrong.

Edward: Hmm.

Alan: Rae's in there.

Monica: Well, I am not going to avoid rooms in my own house because of Rae.

Alan: She's having a serious talk with Skye about you. And believe it or not, Rae is on your side. And me? All I want is just to be at your side.

Monica: I think I believe you.

Alan: You should. I just want some peace, Monica.

Rae: I thought I was coming to spend the holidays with my daughter, not that she would use me to goad Monica.

Skye: I wanted you to see for yourself how Monica treats Alan. Is that so terrible?

Rae: It's their marriage, Skye. How they treat each other is their business.

Skye: He's my father.

Rae: Monica is his wife. Now, let me clue you in on a little something. This is a fairly tense house, even under the best of circumstances. Now, you can add to that tension by making this all about you or you can step back and try and be a calming influence. I think the people here would be very grateful for that. Okay. Just a thought, honey.

Skye: I'll try.

Rae: Good. You can let me know how it goes.

Skye: Leaving?

Rae: Well, I'm going back to the hotel to pack. I -- I do have a flight to catch.

Skye: Seems like you just got here.

Rae: Do you want me to take the later flight? I can.

Skye: No. No. It's okay.

Rae: Are you sure?

Skye: Well, I'm sure I'm never going to hear the end of this, but since you are here and in advice-giving mood, I really could use some about a relationship.

Carly: Wait, wait, wait -- what -- what are you doing?

Jax: I'm saving us about $75,000.

Carly: What -- okay, those fixtures -- no, they are not negotiable, uh-uh.

Jax: That's true. Because they're out.

Carly: Oh-ho! No, they're not. They're in.

Jax: Excuse me, my checkbook and I were halfway to the airport when you begged me to stay and help you. Now, this is me helping, okay? If you're going to squawk at every little cosmetic change that I do, then we have a problem.

Carly: Yeah, we got a problem, all right. It's yours.

Sonny: You already walked away from one child. How can you turn around, father another one, then abandon her, too?

Mike: It was nothing I planned. When I started with Janine, my intentions were good.

Sonny: We already went over this. You got lucky at the card table, then you got lucky with the dealer.

Mike: But you said you understood.

Sonny: I did. I understood that you lied to me -- again! You couldn't tell me the truth any more than you can face it now. You had another child. You failed her. What more is there to say?

A.J.: Would you like me to look under the hood?

Courtney: I am fine. I can manage. Thank you.

A.J.: Hmm. I'll call a tow truck.

Courtney: What is the deal in this town? You get stranded in most cities and people mind their own business. Here, everybody has to jump in and save you whether you ask them to or not.

A.J.: My mistake. I saw someone in trouble, I thought I'd help, that's all.

Zander: She has all the help she needs, so why don't you do her a favor and get lost.

Rae: A relationship, huh? Why? You think you could be a little more vague about this, huh?

Skye: All right. It's a man.

Rae: A man? Oh, God, honey. Tell me it's not another one of those stinkers you pick.

Skye: Oh, no. Actually, this one's pretty terrific.

Rae: Really? Well, now, that sounds hopeful. Coffee?

Skye: Yeah. Well, he's handsome --

Rae: Mm-hmm.

Skye: And smart and rich.

Rae: Oh.

Skye: And he makes me feel good about myself. Even though I've been absolutely hateful around him, he seems to understand why, and yet he doesn't hold it against me. Instead, he's kind for no other reason that I can figure except that it's just in his nature.

Rae: I'm sorry, sweetie. I -- I mean, I can't quite grasp what the problem is about. Is it because he's married?

Skye: No, but you're close.

Rae: He's unavailable?

Skye: Uninterested.

Rae: What?

Skye: This man is so wonderful, he should be illegal. And yet, here he is having fallen into my lap and he doesn't care. What I mean is that the way I feel about him is not the way he feels about me. In fact, he doesn't seem to feel anything about me at all.

Rae: Oh, honey. I don't know how you want me to help you.

Skye: You're the expert. How do I get him to fall in love with me?

Carly: Look, I want this club to be about romance. It's what people are looking for. And they want to believe that somewhere out there is the perfect person for them, their soul mate, the person that will complete them, will make them -- I don't know -- will never doubt them. It's what they're looking for. They want hope.

Jax: And you're going to provide that?

Carly: Yeah. And make a buck in the process. Hey, you know, besides, if I can't have it in my own life, then why not create an environment where people can do it and I can watch?

Jax: Okay, I understand that, but what does any of this have to do with these absurdly expensive lighting fixtures?

Carly: You know what? It has to do with you. Look, Jax, somewhere along the line, you lost your hope. I mean, you took -- no, you took your heart, you put in some box and you put it in a corner somewhere --

Jax: Oh, well, shame on me.

Carly: Okay. You know what? Make fun of it all you want. But you know what -- that's why you don't get this club. You don't understand it the way I do. You don't get it here and you don't get it here, in your heart. Jax, you wouldn't know hope if it was staring you in the face.

Zander: I can take it from here.

A.J.: Didn't take you long to get over Em, did it?

Zander: You can hit the road one way or the other.

[Horn sounds]

Courtney: Excuse me!

A.J.: You know what? You better do yourself a favor and stay away from this loser. And, you, tell your boss I'm not finished with him yet.

Zander: Okay, he's gone.

Courtney: And you can go, too.

Zander: Not without you.

Courtney: The only place I am going is away from this town.

Zander: But not in that car. It won't start without this.

Courtney: Fine! I'll walk!

Zander: Whoa, whoa, whoa, you can’t.

Courtney: Would you get out of my way?

Zander: Hold on, now. Sonny sent me to find you. He wants me to bring you back to him and your parents.

Courtney: Then you wasted a trip. That's the last place in the world I am going.

Mike: Now, why should I try to explain anything? I'm already tried and convicted.

Sonny: Am I wrong? Tell me.

Mike: I wanted to start over.

Sonny: Right.

Mike: And Janine didn't see the whole history of pain and screw-ups that I kept dragging after me. And she never looked at me with eyes full of trust and unselfish love -- the kind of love that I knew I would never be worthy of.

Sonny: All right, you know what? If this is where you start blaming my mother for your choices, don’t.

Mike: Janine was different. She loved the game as much as I did, and she wanted to enjoy life, and for a while, we did.

Sonny: So, what broke the winning streak? She got pregnant? You didn't want another family? Is that what happened?

Mike: I know this --

Sonny: Is that --

Mike: I know it isn't pretty, Michael. Why do you think I didn't want to tell you?

Sonny: Because you're a coward!

Mike: No, because I didn't want to lose you. I've tried for a long time and very hard to reach you, and I didn't want to give that up. And I knew that this was going to happen. I knew that you would refuse to listen or even try to understand.

Sonny: No, I understand. I know your act by heart. You love me, then you're sorry you lied because you were afraid. You left because my -- whatever sorry excuse comes into your head, that makes you leave every time. I get that. I understand that. You're not a man, you have no spine, and you can't be held responsible for anything.

Mike: I'm not perfect, Michael.

Sonny: Well --

Mike: And I never will be. And just like you, there are things about me that I can't change. So let's just forget about it. What's the use? I'm going to go look for Courtney.

Sonny: No, no. Hey, hey, hey. Mike. Mike! We're not finished.

Gia: Thank you.

Elizabeth: Thank you.

Waitress: You're welcome.

Gia: So, guest list, food, flowers, reception -- there's a lot to take care of on such short notice, but it is not impossible, especially with me in charge.

Elizabeth: Well, whatever we can't do, we'll do without, because nothing else matters but us.

Gia: Oh, your wedding is going to be perfect. And I have a few friends in high places who can pretty much make anything happen. Right, my rich, influential fiancé? You can pull a few strings. I mean, after all, it is lucky and Elizabeth’s single most important day of your lives, right?

Nikolas: I agree. I agree. I think that, I don't know, that we should be sure that everything is right before you go ahead, you know.

Elizabeth: Hey, you know what? Maybe we can get married in that Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.

Gia: Really? I never thought that would be your first choice.

Elizabeth: Well, the first time Lucky and I promised to love each other was there -- on Valentine's Day in the middle of the worst blizzard in 20 years. It was absolutely perfect.

Nikolas: The church could be booked for, you know, a midnight service on New Year’s Eve.

Lucky: Well, then I'm sure Mom would let us take over the house.

Elizabeth: Oh, I would love to get married in her house.

Lucky: Okay. Well, I'm going to call her, then, and maybe we can go over there later and arrange the plans in person.

Elizabeth: Okay.

Lucky: How does that sound?

Elizabeth: Okay.

Gia: So, a Baptist church in the middle of a blizzard? Tell me about it.

Elizabeth: There was no one around but Lucky and me, and he gave me a bouquet of white roses, lit every candle in the church. We held hands, looked into each other's eyes, and that's when we knew we would love each other forever.

Nikolas: Excuse me. I am going to go talk to my brother.

Nikolas: Hey.

Lucky: Mom's not home.

Nikolas: That's good. Look -- I don't know. I think that you should look at all this and just take a step back before we go any further.

Lucky: I know what's right.

Nikolas: Then call off the wedding, lucky.

Edward: I'll have you know, young lady, that I am still on the board of this hospital, and you need to show me a little respect.

Melissa: And you need to stop wallowing in your self-pity.

Edward: Say, whatever happened to that charming Nurse Bedford that I met the last time I was cooped up in here? I liked her a hell of a lot better.

Melissa: No, no, wait. Would that be the time you were faking it?

Edward: Now, that's what I mean. You see, there is no respect, there is no concern, and I am leaving.

Melissa: Oh, now, you just settle down.

Edward: Oh, come on!

Melissa: You might be able to pull this song-and-dance with the rest of your family, but not with me. You had a cardiac episode, and it was very real. Now, as a nurse, as a fellow human being, I care about your welfare.  You are getting better on my watch. Do you understand me?

Zander: You shouldn't have bailed. Everybody's worried about you, okay, especially Sonny.

Courtney: My brother -- the guy in the $1000 suit who walked out the door when he found out who I was? Sonny just wants to turn me over to my mother. Or the father -- a man I thought was dead. Why would I want to go near any of those people again?

Zander: Look, I -- I barely know Mike, and I've never met your mother. But if Sonny decides to look out for you, your life just got a whole lot easier.

Courtney: Not interested. Now, which way to the bus station?

Zander: How -- how far -- I'm sorry. Look, how far do you think you're going to get if Sonny wants to find you? Look, why not just make this easier on everybody and just go see him?

Courtney: Oh, why does he care all of a sudden? Sonny barely looked at me the night he found out I was his sister.

Zander: I know. I know. Sonny's like that.

Courtney: A jerk?

Zander: No, no. He's too smart to show people what he's thinking, but obviously, you made some sort of impression on him because he wants to see you now.

Courtney: Why should I care what Sonny wants?

Zander: Because he doesn't give up, ever. So you can run and Sonny will send someone else to find you, or you can come back with me now and show him that you can handle yourself. It's your choice.

Sonny: How old was your daughter when you left?

Mike: I didn't leave. Janine took Courtney and disappeared. She left Reno for parts unknown, and I never heard from her again.

Sonny: Did you look, Mike? Did you try to find your daughter and her mother?

Mike: I wanted to get back on me feet. I wanted to get something started. I wanted to sock something away so I could take care of Courtney again. But it didn't work. Now, don't you see? They were better off without me.

Sonny: Don't you ever get tired of telling yourself lies, Mike?

Mike: We can't all be like you, Michael. Never mind that you leave a path of destruction three miles wide. You -- you take responsibility, you keep your honor. That way, you don't have any regrets.

Sonny: You taught me honor, Mike. You showed me how to be a man. I learned to keep my word by watching you break yours. I learned to stand up by watching you run away. I learned to face my sins by watching you hide from yours. Is that why you gave up on your daughter? My hate was too much to carry, so, instead of watching her learn to hate you, too, you took the easy way out. You let her think you were dead.

Mike: Janine told Courtney I was dead.

Janine: I told Courtney you were dead because you should have been. If you want to know the truth about all this, you are definitely talking to the wrong person.

Jax: So, your club is the answer to love gone wrong?

Carly: All any club can do is create a mood. People have to find love for themselves. Even you.

Jax: Hey, hey, I thought we agreed to stay out of each other's personal lives, huh?

Carly: Uh --

Jax: Yeah.

Carly: We did, but my point is you are inflicting your personal life on our business. This whole club -- it makes you uncomfortable, doesn't it?

Jax: No, it doesn't.

Carly: No, it does.

Jax: No, it does not. I mean, I don't have a problem with romance. You know, finding the right person to share -- that's a different story.

Carly: Hey, well, you know what? This club -- it might be exactly what you need to get you back in the game.

Jax: Well, it won't do much if it's bankrupt before it opens.

[Knock on door]

Jax: Excuse me. I'm busy at the moment.

A.J.: Really? You too busy to finish what you started?

Jax: You're going to have to be more specific.

A.J.: Taking E.L.Q. public -- it didn't hurt Sonny enough, Jax.

Jax: Yeah, you win some, you lose some.

A.J.: Sonny took the woman you love, just like he took my son. It's time for some payback. And you have the resources to take him down for good. I want to help.

Gia: So, you're sure about the dress?

Elizabeth: Yes, and Gram and I ordered it the first time Lucky asked me to marry him. It's been sitting at Wyndham's bridal department forever.

Gia: Well, the dress is crucial, and as long as we've got it, we can just fill in the rest.

Elizabeth: Okay, this is going to be a simple family wedding.

Gia: Do you think it's too late to order a string quartet?

Elizabeth: Wait, there's something more important.

Gia: What?

Elizabeth: A maid of honor.

Gia: Oh. Any ideas?

Elizabeth: My sister, of course, but I can't ask her to fly in from Europe on such short notice. And Emily’s still at this spinal clinic. And even if she's feeling better, I wouldn't want her to push herself.

Gia: Fine. I'll be your third choice, as long as you don't pencil me in under "settled for on short notice." Besides, I do happen to have the most appropriate dress for the occasion.

Elizabeth: Whoa, wait a minute. Isn't the bride supposed to pick the maid of honor's dress?

Gia: Well, not this maid of honor -- that is, if you are asking.

Elizabeth: I'm asking.

Gia: Well, then, I'm agreeing. I mean, after all, Lucky's over there asking Nikolas to be his best man.

Lucky: There's no way that I'm backing out of marrying Elizabeth.

Nikolas: I understand that. But you said it yourself. You don't feel the same way she does.

Lucky: And you said the feelings would come back. Or was that just your guilt talking?

Nikolas: Lucky, nothing would make me happier than seeing you and Elizabeth in love again. But if you don't love her now, I doubt you will by New Year’s.

Lucky: It's not about me, man. I mean, look at Elizabeth. This whole idea has got her lit up like a spotlight.

Nikolas: Yeah, because she thinks she is marrying a man who is in love with her as much she's with him. You see that?

Lucky: No. Elizabeth went through hell. She stood up to Helena for me. She was fighting for me when I couldn't fight for myself. Her love saved me, Nikolas. She probably saved all of us. Now, I can't go over there in my right mind and tell her that we shouldn't get married. Can you do that?

Jax: As you can see, I am in the middle of a meeting.

A.J.: Oh, yeah, yeah. You're in the middle of a meeting, all right. What's up with you, Carly? You used to admit when you were sleeping around.

Carly: No, A.J., I am working -- clearly a concept you don't understand. I get that.

A.J.: Oh, well, you're working, all right. Same agenda, different target. I did expect more out of you, though, Jax.

Jax: Clearly not, or you wouldn't think I had time to waste listening to you take cheap shots at your ex-wife.

Carly: Oh, Jax, that's not why A.J. is here. A.J.'s too afraid to attack Sonny face to face, so he needs somebody to stand behind.

Jax: Oh.

Carly: What's the matter, A.J.? Sister Skye -- she's not big and powerful enough to fight big bad Sonny all on her own? Hmm?

A.J.: Sonny threw you out just like I did. Jason, Tony, all the others -- the list goes on. Jax will, too. It's just a matter of time, baby.

Jax: Good-bye, A.J., and don't come back.

A.J.: You owe me.

Jax: Not that I recall.

A.J.: I handed you E.L.Q. It was my vote. Why don't you start thinking with your head instead of your zipper, Jax? Remember who the real enemy is.

Jax: You know, I don't have much use for violence. But I'll make an exception in your case. Apologize to the lady. Now.

Sonny: Mike lies. So do you. Why should I believe either of you?

Janine: Well, that's a good point. Mike, did you tell your son what an idiot I am, how I supported you for eight years and then you repaid me by taking my entire life savings and blowing it on a crap game? I don't know, call me hot headed. I kicked him out.

Mike: Janine asked me to leave. I was only gone for a couple of days, and when I came back, she had packed up and disappeared with our daughter.

Janine: I gave you so many second chances, Mike, and you blew every one of them, because living with you is a dead end! And Courtney deserved better, and that's what I was trying to get for her. Now, that is the truth.

Sonny: You knew what Mike was. You had his child anyway. And then you lied to her and used her to work me for money. This is a woman you allowed to raise your child, Mike. You not once looked for her because you were too busy trying to get in with me. Why am I more important than your daughter, huh? You want to know why, Mike? Mike? Mike! I'll tell you why? Because of the money.

Mike: No.

Sonny: Yeah.

Mike: No.

Sonny: No?

Mike: I wanted your love and I wanted to try over again with you, and I did it the wrong way. But I'm human, Michael. And your standards are so high, you tend to forget that sometimes.

Janine: Oh, baby, thank God you're okay. I was worried.

Courtney: I'm fine.

Mike: You -- you turned out real pretty, Courtney. Looks like your mom did real good by you, even though I couldn't.

Courtney: Maybe you could have if you had ever bothered to find me. Who knows? Maybe I would have found you if I didn't think that you were dead all these years. I don't even know what I'm doing here except my new brother got what's-his-name to drag me back here. He said you'd find me anyway, so I came on my own.

Sonny: Thanks, Zander.

Courtney: This is a waste of time. My mother lied to me. My father abandoned me. I'm not really interested in acquiring any more family.

Janine: Baby girl, let's just go home, okay?

Courtney: You really want to help? Just give me some money and I'll get out of all of your lives. Oh, you must have the cash, right? Isn't that why you came here? To make some money? To score the big win like you used to accuse my father of doing?

Janine: Look, it's not the same thing.

Courtney: How? Mike gambled with money. You gambled with me.

Sonny: Mike, take Janine outside in the hall. I want to speak to Courtney alone.

Jax: The lady's waiting, A.J.

A.J.: The "lady"? Oh, I don't believe this. You work a lot faster than I thought, Carly. I'll tell you what -- how about "Gee, I'm real sorry that I told your new big protector what a cheap whore you are"?

Jax: Hey. Yeah. I'm sorry about that. Are you okay?

Carly: Oh, no, I'm great, you know, nothing seeing A.J. bounced off a wall wouldn't cure.

Jax: Well, you know, that's still an option. That wasn't exactly the apology I had in mind.

Carly: No need. Let's just get back to work.

Jax: No, not until I know that you're okay.

Rae: My dear, sweet, misguided daughter.

Skye: Am I crazy?

Rae: If you think that there is some kind of formula to make a man fall in love with you, then, yes, your are a little crazy.

Skye: I know. I just -- I had to ask. Are you sure?

Rae: Honey, love either happens or it doesn’t. And if somebody tries to make love happen, then what it means is that they have no self-confidence. So, what, you think that's you?

Skye: Yes.

Rae: No, Skye. You have beauty, brains, a real love of life. You're a little short on patience and you are a control freak like me, but if this man doesn't work out, you need to trust that there will be lots more and they will want you and you won't have to twist their arm.

Skye: So far, this isn't helping much. Do I have to pay by the hour to get the good stuff?

Rae: Okay, okay. Let's see. Is there anyone in this man's life? I mean, anybody at all?

Skye: No.

Rae: No?

Skye: No. From what I understand, he had one great love and he lost her. And now, he's all alone with a broken heart.

Rae: Ah, and you want to mend it, right?

Skye: Any practical advice on how?

Rae: I've known very few good men who liked a needy woman. Men want a woman who's independent and very compassionate. And then the chemistry just happens. You think that you could try to be patient?

Skye: So I guess arranging to have a flat tire in front of his house twice a week -- that's out?

Rae: No, manipulation is not a good choice, believe me. You need to give it some time. Just time. See how it all -- how it all folds out. Can you do that?

Skye: That's your advice? You want me to leave it to chance?

Rae: Well, you know, a lot of people say that there's no such thing as luck. It's being ready when opportunity knocks.

Skye: Oh. Define "ready."

Rae: Well, let's see. Ah, what advice would I give you?

Skye: Yeah?

Rae: You know that gray dress you own?

Skye: Uh-huh.

Rae: Wear it. Wear it a lot.

Skye: Oh. Thanks a heap, Mom.

Rae: Oh, anytime, sweetheart. I really do want the best for you. And I -- I wish I had all the answers because he certainly sounds like he might be worth it.

Skye: It's so obvious that he's hurting. He's not satisfied with the way things are, and yet he thinks that's all there is. He needs somebody to open his eyes and show him that there's something else and that it's standing right in front of him.

Rae: Well, you know, when a man gives his heart to another woman, it makes it twice as hard.  But if you can be patient and even maybe a little disinterested, who knows how it will turn out?

Skye: Hmm.

Elizabeth: Thanks.

Nikolas: I see Elizabeth is happy. I do. But what about you?

Lucky: What about me? I'm blessed. I'm blessed to have somebody like Elizabeth in my life. In fact, I owe her big time.

Nikolas: Right, "owe," and not "love." You see, Lucky, I'm afraid that you're going to tie yourself down to a lifetime of obligation for what? Because --

Lucky: Because of you? I don't blame you, Nikolas. Helena's the one that took my love away. All you tried to do was save me. I get that. Do you?

Lucky: Well, then let's talk about you being my best man, because part of the job is you being happy for me.

Nikolas: I am happy for you. I'm proud of you, brother. You know that.

Lucky: I love Elizabeth in my own way. So it's not the same way that she feels about me. So what? She's got enough love for the both of us. Now, if I let Elizabeth go, Helena wins. You remember what you told me? In time, the feelings will come back. Elizabeth and I are going to be happy.

Nikolas: Okay.

Gia: Hey, you two.

Nikolas: Hey.

Gia: Lighten up.

Elizabeth: Yeah, she's right. We're planning a wedding here. Aren't we?

Lucky: Yes, yes, of course. Sure. I mean, where's the list?

Elizabeth: Wait, Lucky. It's okay if you want to wait. I got caught up in the moment. I just figured a New Year’s Eve wedding would be a nice way to start off the New Year and our life together.

Lucky: It is. That's why we're getting married New Year's. The only thing I'm waiting for is Nikolas to be my best man.

Gia: What are you waiting for?

Nikolas: I'd be honored.

Lucky: So, there it is! At the stroke of midnight, 2002, we will be husband and wife.

Edward: So, what's on the agenda?

Melissa: I'm going to run a few more blood tests. Do you promise to stay put? Because I swear, I will wrestle you down if I have to, and you know I will.

[Edward chuckles]

Edward: I don't doubt that.

Melissa: You know, whatever happened, I'm sure it's just temporary.

Edward: How can you be so sure?

Melissa: Because everything in life's temporary. I mean, I know things happen to disrupt it or complicate it. And sometimes, things even happen to make it better. But the one thing I am really, really sure about is that life is full of possibilities. Otherwise, what are we doing here, you know? I mean, what's the point? So, I'm just thinking, Mr. Quartermaine, don't give up before it's your time, because maybe the big guy's saving the best for last. I'm going to go run these tests. So you're going to behave?

Edward: You know, that is not something that a pretty young thing like you should say to any -- to any man.

Melissa: I think you're going to be just fine.

Edward: Ms. Bedford -- oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry -- Melissa, I've changed my mind. I'd like for you to call my family after all. Hmm?

Melissa: I'll get right on that.

Edward: Hmm. Mm-hmm.

Alan: Oh.

Skye: Hi.

Alan: Give me a camera and let me record this for posterity.

Skye: Temporary truce.

Rae: Yes.

Alan: Whatever it is, I'm not complaining.

Rae: It's sort of a mother-daughter thing.

Alan: Fabulous.

Rae: I know.

Alan: It's a welcome sight.

Rae: Well, I really hate to be so rude and run, but I do have a plane to catch.

Skye: Oh, I'll take you to the airport, if that's okay.

Rae: I'd love that.

Alan: I'm so glad you came.

Rae: Alan, I thought this was going to be a disaster, and look, a whole line of communication has opened up between me and Skye. My God, I don't know how to thank you.

Alan: Well, I can't take any credit for that.

Rae: Yes, you can. If you hadn't arranged this visit, none of this would have happened.

Alan: Well, let's just say that it's a gift from all of us.

Rae: Skye even said that she was going to behave around Monica.

Alan: Oh, I'm looking forward to that.

Rae: Good-bye, kid.

Alan: Good-bye, kid. You have a safe trip home, okay?

Rae: Yeah. Let Monica know that I thank her for her hospitality, okay?

Alan: I will.

Rae: Ready?

Skye: Mm-hmm.

Rae: Okay. Let's go.

Monica: So, did Rae leave?

Alan: Yes, she did, and she wanted me to thank you for your hospitality.

Monica: How nice.

Alan: Yeah. Skye's driving her to the airport. They seemed to have reached a new level of understanding.

Monica: Well, that's good news.

Alan: And what about us? Do you think we're going to be okay?

Monica: Yes, of course we are.

[Phone rings]

Alan: Alan Quartermaine. My father? When? I'll be right there.

Monica: Don't explain. You can tell me while I drive you.

Jax: Don't let anything A.J. says get to you, because he only knows how to fight dirty.

Carly: No, I wasn't thinking about A.J. Actually, I was thinking about how you defended me. Thank you.

Jax: You're welcome.

Carly: You know, you didn't have to.

Jax: Yes, I did, because getting stuck in the past is no good for anybody.

Carly: You see? It is a good thing I made you stay in town. Yeah, and, you know, you are soon going to find out that I am right about everything.

Jax: Yeah, well, almost everything, because there's still a few thousand dollars that we can shave off this budget.

Carly: Oh, no, no, no. This budget -- it's final and it's staying exactly the way it is.

Sonny: Mike, I want to speak to Courtney alone.

Courtney: Who are you to order people around?

Sonny: I guess I'm your brother, so I guess, you know, we got to get used to it.

Janine: That doesn't mean that you can send her mother out of the room.

Sonny: Okay, Janine, I asked you to wait outside. You got a problem with that?

Janine: I'll be out in the hall.

Mike: It's okay. Sonny's a good man.

Courtney: Now, what?

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Ned: Do you have plans for New Year’s?

Kristina: With Alexis.

Alexis: Since when?

Luke: Happy New Year, baby! Let's go for a ride.

Edward: I have an announcement to make.

Skye: This ought to be good.

Janine: Write me a big fat check. You'll never have to deal with me or Courtney again.
