Lucky: I'm not going to be able to get back what you took from me, but I’m free.

Sonny: What does your granddaughter have on you, Eddie?

Jax: We have a deal.

Carly: You won't regret this, Jax.

Luke: It makes me crazy to think of you marrying anyone.

Scott: Marry me.

Laura: I've been wanting to talk to you about that.

Taggert: Oh, hey. I assume you're here to see the commissioner? He's busy. Anything I can do for you?

Luke: I doubt it. Look, I was summoned here to talk to Mac, something about the case against Helena Cassadine.

Taggert: Yeah, he'll fill you in on the details when he's through.

Luke: It's happened again, hasn't it? She's slipped through your jack-booted fingers.

Taggert: You know what? Relax, there, zippy. Mrs. Cassadine's still in custody. She's downstairs.

Luke: Well, then why am I here? What's the big deal? Are you all right?

Lucky: Yeah, I'm -- I'm fine.

Mac: Yeah, but there's a problem. I've had Helena’s alleged lab searched twice now.

Luke: What the hell do you mean alleged? You were down there. You saw it, didn't you?

Mac: That's the thing. We didn't find anything.

Luke: Somebody tell me this is a joke!

Taggert: Oh, no, you know, there's nothing down there, Spencer, not a shred of physical evidence to support your science-fiction story.

Scott: Okay. Yeah. Right here. Here we go. Sit down. No, no, no, no, no. You sit here. That's where you were. You were sitting over there.

Laura: Oh.

Scott: I got a little goofed up there. Well, this park is a great place for a wedding, if I don't mind saying so.

Laura: It really was.

Scott: Hmm. Some things have changed here. I mean, look at -- look how big the trees are.

Laura: Hmm.

Scott: The zoo expanded it.

Laura: Perfect.

Scott: Yeah, I guess they needed more room for the orangutans.

Laura: I mean, it was a perfect place to get married.

Scott: Something else has changed. You're even prettier now than you were back then --

Laura: No.

Scott: And I didn't think that was possible. Of course, I -- I thought I knew everything back then. And the hotdog, remember? You had the mustard, I had the relish.

Laura: No, no way, we didn't share a hotdog at our wedding.

[Laura laughs]

Scott: No, no, the day that we picked this spot, remember? That's when we had the hotdog.

Laura: And there were daisies right over here somewhere, weren't there?

Scott: Yes. I picked one.

Laura: And put it in my hair.

Scott: Mm-hmm, and I almost got arrested for my trouble.

Laura: Oh, that's right. I remember that cop. It had to be his first day on the job.

Scott: Yeah, well, I don't know about that, but, I mean, I presented my case, I argued with him, and eventually, it worked out.

Laura: Until you turned around and sat on that hotdog.

Scott: I didn't sit on the hotdog.

Laura: See? Now your memory fails you.

Scott: No, my memory is perfect of that day. It's perfect.

Laura: And then I broke your heart, didn't I?

Scott: Well, things are going to be different.

Laura: Yes, things are going to be different this time.

Carly: Hey, partner. You bring the agreement?

Jax: It's right here.

Carly: Well, let's see it.

Jax: It's all in order, just as we discussed.

Carly: Hmm, well, I have got to see it in black and white. You know, contracts can be full of surprises. It's really going to happen. I had the idea, I made the deal, and I'm going to pull it all together.

Jax: Well, we're going to pull it all together. I don't intend to be a silent partner. I intend to be hands-on.

Carly: Oh, well, I would expect you to, of course. Relax, will you? I know exactly what I'm getting into in my partner. He is a very smart, very wealthy guy who knows a good thing when he sees it. It'll be a good thing, Jax. I've got a million ideas. Customers are going to be lined up around the block. We're going to make a fortune. Okay, not that I'm trying to oversell it or anything. I just want you to know this is going to be a very solid investment for you.

Jax: Well, there are all kinds of investments, Carly. Whether this one is financially sound remains to be seen. But, you know, any woman who's willing to get away from Sonny Corinthos, that's a good investment in my book.

Carly: Okay, hold it right there.

Sonny: Ms. Davis and I will be back in a couple of days, depending on how it goes. I need you to keep an eye on Kristina for me.

Johnny: Right.

Sonny: Oh, tell Max to keep looking for that woman who's blackmailing Edward Quartermaine -- Janine something or another. Tell him to make her comfortable, make sure she doesn't leave.

Johnny: All right.

Sonny: Okay.

Kristina: Ooh, perfect timing. Sonny, can I talk to you for a second?

Sonny: Yeah, yeah, come on in. Thanks, Johnny.

Sonny: What can I do for you?

Kristina: I realize that you and I don't know each other very well --

Sonny: Well --

Kristina: So I'm just going to cut to the chase. It's about your trip to Puerto Rico with her, and I know what you're about to say, that it's none of my business.

Sonny: No, it isn't, but that's not what I was thinking.

Kristina: You have to understand that it has taken me my whole life to find my sister. And, I mean, the wait was more than worth it. You know, Alexis is amazing. She's beautiful and smart and kind --

Sonny: I agree.

Kristina: And vulnerable. I don't want anyone hurting her. And I'm not afraid to say that to anybody, not even you, I mean, knowing what you do and everything, kind of.

Sonny: Well, I appreciate your honesty, and Alexis is everything you say and more. I would -- I would put my life on the line for her. But you need to know I will do everything I can to protect her, always.

Kristina: Who is going to protect Alexis from you?

Sonny: Why would Alexis need protection from me?

Kristina: Look, I don't disapprove necessarily. I just don't want you leading her on while you're still in love with your wife.

Sonny: What does Carly have to do with my labor dispute in Puerto Rico?

Kristina: Alexis says that you're still in love with Carly -- which is fine. I mean, she's your wife. You have that right, but why don't you unmarry her before you start romancing my sister?

Sonny: Okay!

Kristina: What?

Sonny: Jax, right?

Kristina: What about Jax?

Sonny: Well, what about what he's up -- he's obviously giving you some wrong information about my relationship with your sister.

Kristina: Jax has nothing to do -- Jax has his opinions and I have my opinions.

Sonny: Yeah?

Kristina: Yeah.

Sonny: Okay. Well, your sister, my attorney, I pay a lot of money, okay?

Alexis: Kristina?

Alexis: I had a feeling you might be here. I -- I apologize. My sister has an overactive imagination and, apparently, a boundary issue. Excuse us.

Sonny: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Alexis: I adore you. I adore that you are in my life. Now stay out of it.

Kristina: I just thought that if --

Alexis: No, you were wrong, whatever you thought. Oh, this is ridiculous. Sonny, will you please tell my sister that she has nothing to worry about, that you have absolutely no feelings for me whatsoever, other than those of a trusted friend or, even more, a trusted attorney. Go ahead, Sonny, tell her.

Luke: Helena Cassadine is a complete psycho, okay? She kidnapped him, she kidnapped half my family, most of her own. She assaulted Lucky. She terrorized Laura with the help of her twice-dead son, Stavros. You throw in a handful of high crimes and misdemeanors here, Mac, and you've got a case.

Mac: It's not that simple, Luke.

Luke: Well, what the hell does it take? We've done all the work for you. And you've got a dozen sworn statements, all testifying to the same facts.

Mac: With little or no corroborating evidence. Look, all I've got is a bunch of people with long-standing grudges against the Cassadines alleging Helena took them against their will to some kind of facility. Now, maybe that's enough to move on the kidnapping charges. As for the rest, not a chance.

Luke: We didn't make this up, Commissioner. I mean, for God's sake, didn't you secure the crime scene, protect the evidence?

Mac: Helena had a lab, yes. That's not a crime, Luke. But there was no cryogenic coffin, no formulas, no records on file, and no signs Stavros Cassadine ever existed.

Taggert: There was nothing. The place is no more dangerous than a high school chemistry lab.

Luke: Unbelievable, amazing police work. You've stood around and let them destroy the evidence.

Lucky: Stefan and I triggered a fail-safe. It probably did more than just seal the doors.

Taggert: That was brilliant.

Mac: Yeah, well, it must be because every computer down there was crashed.

Lucky: Exactly.

Mac: There's no salvageable data, no way to tell what the computers were used for. And the place was clean. It was clean, nothing hazardous.

Luke: Yeah, well, what does that tell you? It tells you there were things there worth destroying. And what about him? What about the mind control? What about the things she made him do? She used him as a weapon. That's attempted murder.

Mac: Why do you think I got Lucky down here, Luke? To find out exactly what Helena asked him to do so we'd have something concrete to go on.

Luke: And?

Lucky: And I can't remember. It's like that more and more, Dad. Ever since, you know, we broke through Helena’s programming. I can't remember places, I can't remember times, I can't remember what she ordered me to do. All that stuff's gone.

Luke: Okay, Tony Jones -- get ahold of him. It was his kid that she poisoned first, and he helped her regenerate Stavros.

Mac: I've got a call into Tony Jones, Luke.

Luke: Well, if you don't chain that old bat up, she's going to slither right out of here.

Mac: We're holding Helena on the kidnapping charges. As for the rest, we can't bring charges the evidence won't support.

Officer: Commissioner?

Mac: Yeah. Don't go anywhere.

Luke: Don't worry. I'm not. I'll probably be sitting right in front of her cell. She's going down! All right, just don't worry about it. I'll take care of this. And don't you worry. I mean, she's robbed you of enough of your life. Just let it be, and Elizabeth will be back soon. Everything will get back to normal. Don't worry.

Lucky: Yeah, well, you're wrong about that. Elizabeth and I don't really have what we used to have. You wouldn't happen to have any lessons on love, would you?

Laura: I love you, Scotty.

Scott: I'm so in love with you. I'm crazy in love with you. That's why I'm willing to get back on this merry-go-round and forget about all that bad stuff.

Laura: I can't forget about it. You mean too much to me, you know? You've gotten me through so much. Nobody has ever been able to make me laugh the way you do. And I don't think I would have ever gotten through these last few months if you hadn't been there.

Scott: Yeah. Yeah, you would have. You would have been fine. You know, back when we were kids, all I could see was how beautiful you were, you know, how smart you were, what a great girl you were, you know? I didn't know that you had this strength. See, I was too busy being the strong one, right? You know, I thought I had to do that, but all the time, you had it, you had the strength -- with the Cassadines and all this stuff. You've always had this. I just didn't see it as clear as I see it right now. Which is as clear to me now as what your answer to -- to my proposal was.

Carly: Don't make this about Sonny.

Jax: Isn't that the goal of this little venture, to prove your independence, to strike out on your own?

Carly: Exactly. I am doing it for myself, but it's not to get back at Sonny. I'm not going to let you use me to do it, either.

Jax: Aren't you the one I just found falling to pieces on the docks after yet another blowout with Sonny? I thought you said you wanted a new beginning, to start over, to show the world and Sonny who you really are.

Carly: Oh, and you were willing to help me out of the goodness of your heart.

Jax: I thought I was making a business investment. Now I'm not so sure. You're just starting to sound a lot like the Carly I've known for years, the one that will do anything to get Sonny back. Although why you'd want to, that is a question for you and your shrink.

Carly: Okay, don't pretend I don't know what this is really about. This is about your agenda with Sonny. It was really -- it was very smooth of you to try and play hard-to-get.

Jax: Oh, that's absurd.

Carly: Oh, is it? Or does this all just boil down to the same thing between you and Sonny? You're still out to get him because you lost Brenda.

Sonny: Alexis is my trusted friend and, even more so, my trusted attorney.

Alexis: And that's all.

Sonny: And that's all.

Alexis: Now will you leave it alone?

Kristina: Okay, look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to embarrass anybody or make it awkward, but I will not apologize for loving my sister and for caring about my sister. Alexis, I guess I'll go back to your apartment, help you pack up.

Alexis: Thanks.

Kristina: Excuse me.

Alexis: I'll be right there.

Sonny: That's quite a bodyguard you got there. If Johnny takes a vacation, I'll think about using her. What does she charge?

Alexis: Her heart's in the right place. I am -- I am sorry. Kristina might not be embarrassed, but I am.

Sonny: No, no. You know, she's your kid sister. She has every right to look out for you.

Alexis: So, are we still going?

Sonny: Well, I still have a labor dispute and I still need my attorney, unless you're having second thoughts?

Alexis: Oh, no.

Sonny: No?

Alexis: No, no, not at all. You say the word and we're gone.

Sonny: All right, well, I'll come get you when you're ready.

Alexis: I'm actually looking forward to this. I could use the time away, even if it is strictly business.

Sonny: Yeah, me, too.

Luke: Well, you know, Elizabeth will be back soon, and -- actually, sometimes distance is a good thing.

Lucky: It's not Elizabeth. It's me. You know, the moment we defeated Helena, everything she had blocked, all those feelings, all those emotions about the family, everything just came flooding back, and all I wanted to do was talk to Elizabeth. I wanted to hear her voice. I wanted to tell her that I loved her. I wanted to tell her, explain to her somehow that all this stuff is over, you know?

Luke: What changed?

Lucky: Me. Dad, I changed, the moment I talked to her on the phone. Yeah, she seemed the same, you know. She acted like nothing ever happened. Maybe I didn't feel what I thought I was going to feel. All those feelings that came back were suddenly leaving. They were fading just as fast as they came, like it was temporary.

Luke: Well, you know, I just don't think I would worry about it so much.

Lucky: Well, I can't be leading Elizabeth on, right? I have to be honest with her. I'm just going to end up hurting her.

Luke: Well, maybe and maybe not. There are no guarantees, but to run from her or avoid her or shut this whole thing down just because you're afraid of what might happen, see, that makes no sense at all. That's to let Helena win even after we've risked our lives, almost died crushing her.

Lucky: Yeah, yeah, but that doesn't change how I feel now.

Luke: Yeah, how do you feel? You're worried. You're worried about Elizabeth. That means that you still care about her, see, and everything has been so crazy. She'll come back, things will get back to normal, you'll trust your instincts. You know, for whatever it's worth, I think the two of you are the real deal no matter what you've been through. No, I do. I do. Also, when you have something good going, when you got a love that's real, meaningful, it's never really too late.

Lucky: Do you really believe that?

Luke: I ain't having this conversation for my amusement.

Lucky: Then how come it seems as if I'm going to be getting a new stepfather?

Laura: Scotty?

Scott: No -- no, wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait, wait. Don't say anything. Say nothing. I'll say it, okay? I don't know why, but I -- I want to say it. The answer's no.

Scott: Hotdog, huh? It'd be silly to sit on it now.

Laura: Scotty?

Scott: Listen -- sorry. I -- I just need a minute. I think that I might need more than just a minute.

Laura: Are you all right? I'm sorry. That's a pretty stupid question, isn't it?

Scott: No, listen, you made your decision. I respect it. I love you. I've always loved you, and I'm always going to love you. And it's going to be horrible to wake up every morning and not have you there. But, you know, I'll do -- you know, you don't want to hear all this stuff -- it doesn't -- forget it.

Laura: It's okay. It really is.

Scott: No. No, no. Listen, let me just ask you one question, though. Is it because of Luke?

Jax: You weren't there. You're not Brenda. You know next to nothing about her and even less about what Sonny did to her or you wouldn't have shacked up with him in the first place. You know what? This is my fault. I'm sorry. I really thought that you would have learned from everyone else's mistakes, but clearly you're still too hung up on Sonny for my liking, so I'm sorry. I should have listened to my instincts from the beginning.

Carly: What -- what are you doing?

Jax: This was a mistake.

Carly: No, no, it wasn’t. It wasn't a mistake, Jax.

Jax: Yes, it was. It was probably a mistake to stay in Port Charles this long, too.

Carly: Well, what about the club? What about our deal?

Jax: The deal's off. You can find someone else to rub in Sonny's face.

Carly: Okay, well, just wait, okay? Wait. I am so sorry.

Jax: You're sorry? You're going to have to do a hell of a lot better than that to pull this one out of the fire.

Sonny: All right, I'm going to be in Puerto Rico for a couple days on business. I need you to do something for me.

Zander: Whatever you want. I got nothing else going on.

Sonny: Emily hasn't called?

Zander: She won’t. A.J. made sure of that.

Sonny: Oh, that's -- sorry about that.

Zander: Well, me, too.

Sonny: Yeah.

Zander: But there's no use thinking about it. I just need to move on.

Sonny: Easier said than done.

Zander: Yeah, well, all I know is I need something to think about. You'll be doing me a big favor by giving me something to do.

Sonny: All right, I need you to keep an eye on Carly for me as close as you can.

Zander: She in some kind of trouble or something?

Sonny: Oh, she's involved with Jax. I don't trust him. She's not thinking clearly right now.

Zander: That's the problem?

Sonny: But she can't know you're doing this or I'm asking you to do this.

Zander: She would, what, think I'm spying on her or something?

Sonny: Well, I don't know what Carly thinks, but, you know, she needs a friend, and you can give her that. But you got to watch her because, you know, she's brave, sometimes she's a little -- you know what I'm saying?

Zander: Yeah.

Sonny: All right, so, I just want you to make sure she doesn't do anything to hurt herself.

Zander: Yeah, I'll take care of it.

Sonny: Thanks.

Zander: Okay.

Sonny: All right.

Zander: See you later. Have a good time.

Luke: Well, who knows? Maybe your mother will come to her senses and remember why she left Baldwin in the first place.

Lucky: So you don't think they're getting married, then?

Luke: I don't know. It's not our call. It's really none of our business. It's her life, her decision.

Lucky: Yeah.

Luke: But, you know, whatever she decides to do, she's going to hope and want you to stand behind her. There's been much too much judgment and recrimination in this family, son. And frankly, most of it came from you. Don't make that mistake again. All we can hope for is that she makes the decision that'll make her happy.

Lucky: Right.

Luke: But you're ducking my point. See, this is not about your mother and me. We made our mistakes. You got to find your own mistakes. You make your own. No, you and Elizabeth, you've got a future. And if you don't, there's some other wonderful young woman waiting for you. Whatever happens, you got to let go of the past. You got to reinvent yourself. Don't let Helena win. Move on.

Lucky: I know.

Luke: Yeah?

Lucky: Yeah.

Helena: Well, Luke.

Luke: Hi, pumpkin.

Helena: Oh, I knew you couldn't stay away. I imagined your life feels empty with me so inaccessible. You really have so little purpose.

Lucky: Oh, he's got purpose. He's got lots of purpose, actually. In fact, his purpose is the same as mine -- to see you locked away for good.

Helena: Well. I see the apple has rolled closer to the tree. I must admit, Lucky, I liked you better when you were under my influence.

Luke: Well, of course you did. So, Madam Rasputin, how did you manage to make all that evidence in the bat cave just disappear?

Helena: I don't know what you mean. I was merely setting up a new research facility for the hospital.

Luke: If that's the best story you've cooked up, cookie, you better keep baking.

Helena: Luke, you know my specialty is not baking. But at the moment, I'm more concerned about you. You really will miss me when I'm gone. Beleaguered at the moment doesn't mean that your misfortune has run its course. Ta-ta.

Scott: So it's Luke.

Laura: Yes, it is. I think I told you that my feelings for him had resurfaced. I mean, it's not like I think we're going to get reconciled right away. I don’t. A future for us does not appear to be in the cards. We've both ended up in such different places. But it's just that every now and again we connect. And when we do, that's really confusing for me, you know? He is the father of my children. He will always be in my life.

Scott: You're not making this easy. You know, I'd like it a lot better if you were going back to him because I'd have somebody to punch in the nose.

Laura: I love you, and that is the God's honest truth. I don't think you know how tempted I am to say yes. I don't want to lose you, either.

Scott: Isn't that enough, then?

Laura: No, it isn't, because there isn't enough inside me. Your feelings for me are clearer than mine are for you. And I don't want to take advantage of that. You deserve better. You deserve to get as good as you're giving, and I can't return that right now. I wish I could.

Scott: Well, do you want to try and get back what you had with Luke? Is that what --

Laura: No. I'm not trying to duplicate what I had with Luke. That's not it. It's that I know what it feels like to have no doubts, and I've decided that I'm not going to go forward with anyone until I feel that way again. I don't want to risk my heart -- or yours, especially yours. I don't ever want to hurt you again. Do you understand?

Kristina: Sonny is still attached to his ex-wife. Okay, all men are until the divorce papers are at least a year old. Okay, fine, so I haven't lived in a nunnery all these years.

Alexis: First of all, Carly's not his ex-wife.

Kristina: Yet.

Alexis: What's your point?

Kristina: Alexis, Sonny is a very attractive man. Oh, what, like you haven't noticed?

Alexis: Of course I have noticed. Who wouldn't notice?

Kristina: So that's why I'm concerned. Attractive man, hot, balmy island winds, the look.

Alexis: What look?

Kristina: You know, that look that Sonny gives every time he gets intense. His eyes get really big and they suck you in like quicksand.

Alexis: Well, don't you think he knows that? He uses it to get his way.

Kristina: Okay, you know what? You're right. Maybe level-headed, responsible Alexis would never let anything like that happen. You're right.

Alexis: What is that supposed to mean?

Kristina: Well, maybe I've just been looking at this whole thing backwards. You know, maybe you do need to have some fun and let your hair down and have a good time.

Alexis: While it's true I enjoy a good labor dispute as much as the next attorney, I wouldn't exactly describe this trip as fun. But I appreciate -- I appreciate your well wishes and your well-meaning if not completely unfounded concern.

Kristina: Just promise me that you're not going to have any of those drinks with the two umbrellas in them. Alexis, they have three different types of rum in them.

Alexis: It's a business trip. There is not going to be any rum.

Sonny: Hey. Johnny's bringing the car around. You almost ready?

Alexis: Oh, I just got to get my bags.

Sonny: Oh, no, that's all right. I got it. All right.

Kristina: Three words -- no tiny umbrellas.

Alexis: I'll see you in a few days.

Kristina: Remember.

Sonny: I'm going -- I'll take really good care of her. What kind of rum do you like? White, dark, amber? Because we make five different kinds down there, you know. We'll bring you back some. How about spiced?

Kristina: Alexis.

Carly: Look, nothing has changed.

Jax: The hell it hasn't.

Carly: Okay, obviously Sonny is a touchy subject for the both of us, so we won't bring him up anymore.

Jax: I have my doubts about that.

Carly: All right, will you just concentrate on the profit margin? Look, I've got a great idea, and you know that. And you've got the money, and I know that. So we had an argument. So what? Most partners, they do, but it doesn't mean that we should lose a really good thing.

Jax: I'm not so sure about this "good thing" at the moment and about you.

Carly: Okay, fine. How's this? Give me a week or two and I will bring in proposals and the budget and sketches.

(Not sure where this next part fits, sorry)

Zander: Sonny has nothing to do with this.

Carly: Oh, but he's the reason you're here. He's all worried because I'm up to something with Jax, so he sent you over to play the friend angle, right? Try to find out all the dirty little details.

Sonny: You all right?

Alexis: Just clumsy. Sorry.

Sonny: Oh.

Alexis: Damn.

Sonny: Are you sure you're all right?

Alexis: Yeah, I just can't seem to keep anything in my lap.

Sonny: Well, that's not usually a problem for you. Are you worried about flying?

Alexis: No.

Sonny: No?

Alexis: Well -- you know what? Maybe I am feeling a little hemmed in.

Sonny: You are? Maybe you should loosen up your seat belt. Let me try to --

Alexis: Oh, thanks. You know what? I can do it. I can --

Sonny: Oh, no, it's all right. I got it. It's quite fine. Okay. I just unbuckled it. All right. Is that better?

Alexis: Yeah, that's fine. That's much -- it's really great. Thank you. I -- I feel -- I'm all set.

Sonny: Yeah?

Alexis: Yeah.

Sonny: No, you're not. Because I can see -- there's a look on your face. You seem a little scared. What are you afraid of?

Skye: Oh.

Jax: Whoa.

Skye: I'm glad I caught you. Our plan is in trouble.

Jax: You know what? You're out of luck because I have to go.

Skye: No, you don't understand. Edward has brought in Sonny. Now they're planning --

Jax: Stop, okay? No more Sonny. I'm sick to death of the name and everything associated with it. Do you understand that?

Nikolas: I'm fine. It was just a -- a dream. I guess that's what I get for napping.

Gia: Well, you need your rest. I mean, you hardly slept at all last night. You kept kicking the covers off.

Nikolas: I know I kept you up. I'm sorry.

Gia: What were you dreaming about?

Nikolas: All I remember is that I was -- I was falling. My father was there. I don't --

Ga: Well, dreaming about your father is no big surprise. I mean, after everything that's happened -- look, maybe this will take your mind off of it.

Nikolas: That feels good.

Gia: Just relax. I have that photo shoot in a little while, but maybe when I'm done we could do a little Christmas shopping together or -- or you can help me pick out a fabulous outfit for the engagement party that Stefan is throwing for us.

Nikolas: Sure.

Gia: Nikolas, what is it?

Nikolas: I just -- I can't -- I can't stop thinking about my father, Ga. I mean, there was so much more I wanted to ask. There was so much more I needed to know. I just --

Gia: Why?

Nikolas: Because he was my father. My whole life, I've remembered him as a shadow. You know -- but he made me. And I'm a part of him, whether big or small. And that means that he's a part of me. And no matter how much I try to forget it or want to ignore it, I -- I can’t.

Gia: Well, I can. I'd like to forget Stavros "Lucien Cain" Cassadine ever existed. I'm sorry. I guess -- I guess I shouldn't say that.

Nikolas: Oh, well, you knew him.

Gia: Not too well.

Nikolas: Tell me -- Gia, tell me what he was like.

Kristina: Why not give me the job? I've already proven to you that I can handle talent, and my organizational skills are much, much better than yours.

[Ned chuckles]

Kristina: Okay, so that's not saying much, but I would present a much hipper front office image for your label than the -- the suit.

Ned: Not to mention your uncanny ability to win friends and influence people. Honey, let's be honest. You have a huge problem with authority.

Kristina: Authority? You're selling rock 'n' roll, which has to do with anarchy, not authority.

Ned: All right, so what really happened? Did you rearrange Alexis' throw pillows once too often?

Kristina: Alexis isn't even in town. She went on a business trip.

Ned: Where?

Kristina: She went to Puerto Rico with Sonny.

Ned: Well, you know, see, that's another reason why you'll never work here. I don't want to talk about Alexis every five minutes.

Kristina: Excuse me, but I didn't even bring her up. You did. And you know what? You're wrong. If you tell me that you're through with Alexis, then I'm through with Alexis, too.

Ned: I'm through.

Kristina: Okay, I'm through with her, too. See? Wasn't that easy?

Ned: Okay, just so we can stay off this topic, I'm going to give you a little test run. File this.

Kristina: Okay. So, do you want it by song title or by composer?

Ned: Song title. Thanks.

Kristina: Okay. Done.

Ned: Give me a shout when you're done.

Kristina: Will do.

[Kristina plays piano]

[Kristina hums]

Kristina: I can't get you out of my heart you made me leave my happy home

Skye: If your feelings about Sonny -- whose name I won't mention again -- are so strong, how can you refuse to help me?

Jax: It's amazing how you do that.

Skye: Do what?

Jax: How you take somebody else's feelings and then twist it all around to serve you.

Skye: Hey, I'm not the only one invested in this, okay? Edward was backed into a corner. He got you-know-who involved, whose goons are now out looking for Janine.

Jax: So fix it.

Skye: I need your help. You're the one with all the leverage, all the corporate power.

Jax: You're the one who provoked Edward to start with. So you call off Janine and Edward won't need Sonny. There -- problem solved.

Skye: That's not going to accomplish what I want.

Jax: Oh, no, of course not. There's no retribution, is there? It doesn't actually get Edward. It doesn't make him pay for the psychic scars that you carry around like a badge of honor -- the terrible fate of being sold from one privileged family to another.

Skye: Hey, you can't even begin to understand what I've been through.

Jax: Then don't ask me to. You have a solution. Deal with it.

Skye: Why are you being so hostile?

Jax: Look, my jet is waiting, okay? I really have to go. Excuse me.

Skye: Wait a minute. Where are you going? How long are you going to be gone? There's an E.L.Q. board meeting coming up, and if you can't help me, then maybe you can give me your proxy vote.

Jax: Yeah, right.

Skye: It's Carly, isn't it? She said something or did something that upset you, didn't she?

Jax: You know, I don't really want to hear Carly's name right now, either.

Gia: I met your father right before you broke up with me. He was charming and attentive, and he wanted to be my friend. And, well, after you dumped me --

Nikolas: Pretended to dump you. Don't forget that.

Gia: It seemed real. I was hurting, and I was angry and confused, and my self-esteem was practically at zero. And Lucien -- he made it easy, you know? He was considerate and fun and even romantic at times.

Nikolas: So, you were attracted to him?

Gia: He's dead, Nikolas.

Nikolas: Gia, please. I need to know. Did he frighten you?

Gia: No. But that's because the man I knew wasn't really who he said he was. Lucien Cain -- he was making himself out to be this likeable and considerate person who seemed interested in me. I mean, he let me go on about you nonstop, and I thought that he was concerned about me. But he wasn’t. He only wanted to know about you.

Nikolas: Can you think of anything he ever said, anything about himself that was honest?

Gia: Well, there -- there was this one time where I actually felt sorry for him. He was in so much pain. I could tell. He said that because of Stefan and Helena, he was afraid he was going to lose the most important thing to him in his life. And now I know that he was talking about you. Nikolas, can we just stop this? I mean, your father is gone.

Nikolas: I need you -- I need you to be honest with me, Gia.

Gia: I'll try.

Nikolas: Did you like him?

Gia: Yes.

Nikolas: How much are my father and I really alike?

Sonny: You can tell me or not, but you don't need to lie because I know something's bothering you.

Alexis: I am -- I'm feeling a little skittish lately.

Sonny: Well, you don't go through what you did and not feel it.

Alexis: Right. Fortunately Stavros is gone and Helena’s about to be locked up, and I -- I need to relax.

Sonny: You know, sometimes it helps if you talk to somebody who's been through it. Have you spoken to Stefan or Nikolas?

Alexis: No.

Sonny: And you want to keep Kristina out of it to protect her. You know, it's not good to have it all bottled up.

Alexis: Oh, look who's talking -- the master bottler.

Sonny: Which is -- which is why I know. I can read you pretty good.

Alexis: "Well." You can read me fairly well -- well --

Sonny: Oh, so it's not enough to, you know, start in on my -- on my ethics. Now you're going to do the same with my grammar? Just tell me.

Alexis: I wasn't sure if any of us would ever be safe again. I -- I hadn't felt that helpless since I was a kid. And there I was, holding my breath, waiting, waiting for it to be over, praying someone would come and rescue me. And then, suddenly, apropos of absolutely nothing, I -- I pictured you telling me to breathe. And I laughed out loud. I mean, I think I did. I don't know. Either way -- either way, it -- it really helped me. A little, anyway. Um -- do you think I could reconsider that drink that you offered me earlier?

Sonny: It's never too late to have a drink.

Alexis: Thanks.

Sonny: You know what? I let you down. You had a dream about me -- that I rescued you -- and I didn’t. And I should have after everything you've done for me.

Alexis: You pay me very well for my -- my legal services. You didn't let me down. I doubt you ever could.

Carly: It's not your fault. You're just following orders.

Zander: Me? Since when?

Carly: Okay, you know what? Don't even bother. Sonny doesn't want me anywhere near Jax, and either he doesn't like the fact that I went to him with a business proposal or he doesn't think I can hold my own. It's probably both.

Zander: What's the business?

Carly: Hell, why not tell you. Everybody's going to know soon enough. A nightclub. So now you can go back to Sonny, report to him, tell him "Thanks, but no thanks" because I can take care of myself.

Zander: I know. I've seen it, remember? When Sorel had us at Sonny's. I thought that counted for something.

Carly: What is that supposed to mean?

Zander: You're blowing me off. No big deal. But don't blame it on Sonny. You know, obviously I assumed too much. It's my mistake.

Carly: Hold on. You're hard to read. I'll give you that.

Zander: Where I come from, you have to be. Maybe I haven't changed as much as I thought. Maybe that's why Emily broke up with me. I don't know.

Carly: Okay, now, cut it out. You keep thinking that way, it's going to get you exactly nowhere.

Zander: At least I do know the way.

Carly: You know -- sit down.

Zander: No, I told you, forget about it.

Carly: No, sit down.

Zander: What made you change your mind?

Carly: You asked. All right, to tell you the truth, not too many people ask for my advice, so -- and I do owe you. You saved my life, so -- you know what? Order dessert. It'll be on me.

Jax: I'm westbound at 2,200. Altitude, 3-3-1-8. No, no E.T.A. I think I might take the scenic route, air out my head a little bit. I'll radio in on my approach. Roger that.

[Skye groans]

Skye: Stop. You're making me sick.

[Skye groans]

Skye: I certainly hope you know how to land this thing.

Jax: What the hell do you think you're doing?

Nikolas: This is not a trick question. There is no right or wrong answer. Just tell me the truth. Do I remind you of my father? Did he remind you of me?

Gia: I can't answer that.

Nikolas: What do you -- why not? Gia, you know him. You know me.

Gia: Look, I only met Stavros at the very end. Up until then, he was pretending to be Lucien Cain -- a made-up person, an act just to try to get me to trust him. Look, I only saw the side of your father that he wanted me to see.

Nikolas: But you just said standing right -- you know what? Just forget it, okay? It's not important. Forget it. It's not a big deal.

Gia: You're afraid, aren't you? You think that you will turn into your father. But you won’t. It is not in you.

Nikolas: Go get ready for your shoot, okay?

Gia: Look, I know how awful this must have been for you -- having your father here and then suddenly he's gone. But that's just it, okay? He's gone. So whatever good things you were able to get while Stavros was here, then hang on to those and just -- just let the bad things go.

Nikolas: I'm sorry about all this. I love you.

Gia: Well, you better. I'm marrying you.

Nikolas: Go. Get ready. Go. I'm fine.

[Kristina plays piano and hums]

Kristina: Since I fell I never would have expected that you like this song.

Ned: Too traditional?

Kristina: No, not at all. It's just not something you would really find on a hip-hop album.

Ned: Who knows? With the right arrangement.

Kristina: Oh, God, no. Please, don’t. This is a classic for a reason. It's beautiful, it's emotional, and --

Ned: I agree. That's why I'm still toying with the idea of releasing an album of standards.

Kristina: Really?

Ned: L&B Records did it a few years ago with an incredible singer named Mary Mae Ward. After she passed away, I just haven't found anyone with the right voice to do it again.

Kristina: I don't give you enough credit.

Ned: I have to agree.

Kristina: I just never thought that you could be capable of appreciating music like that.

Ned: To be honest, I never thought you would, either. So I guess we both underestimated each other.

Kristina: You know, you took me into your home. You watched over me. That shows a lot about who you are. But the fact that you like this shows me even more.

Ned: You mean because we happen to like one song, my taste is now flawless? My instincts are now impeccable?

Kristina: No, I wouldn't go that far, but my respect for you has gone up.

Ned: I'm honored.

Kristina: I'm still trying to figure out why you're in the music business to start with. Is it just a hobby for you? Is it something to waste time and spend a little bit of money?

Ned: Now you sound like Grandfather.

Kristina: Or is it something that you love? Is it a passion? And if it is a passion, then why are you just doing it halfway?

Ned: Is this what you did to Jax? Grill him about his passions, his life?

Kristina: No. But, yeah, I mean, Jax and I did talk. But Jax needs to figure out what he wants for himself.

Ned: But I don't get that option? I have to figure it out right now, right here, with you?

Kristina: Stop evading and answer the question.

Skye: Where are you going? What was so important that you couldn't finish our conversation?

Jax: You won't tell me? Fine. We're above the ocean, Skye. Let me show you.

Skye: Oh -- oh, God. Jax, please.

Jax: You see? Tell me what I want to know, or you're going to experience a barrel roll.

Skye: Oh. I want your proxy.

Jax: For that you stowed away on my plane.

Skye: Yeah, well, I don't give up easily, in case you haven't noticed; especially when it's something I really want. So unless you'd like me along for the entire ride, I suggest that you give up your voting rights and drop me at the nearest airport.

Jax: Sorry. You're along for the ride, for better or worse. I suggest you -- you'd better buckle up.

Skye: Why? Oh -- oh –

Ned: All I want is a nice, quiet, little, mundane life in the gatehouse, being the head of my own record label, and my role as the family gatekeeper since no one else seems to want that job.

Kristina: Gatekeeper?

Ned: I guess you're unfamiliar with the term. It's the person in charge of the gate, someone who controls access.

Kristina: Oh, I see. Kind of like a doorman. Very ambitious, Ned. That certainly wouldn't be enough for me.

Ned: You know what? I don't have time for this.

Kristina: Well, then, make time. Not for this. I mean for yourself. You are presented with an incredible opportunity. Ned, you have the means to do whatever you want in the whole wide world.

Ned: Really? Like what?

Kristina: Like anything. Like cliffhanging, or skydiving, or trekking through Nepal, or luging, or all of the above.

Ned: Luging?

Kristina: Living. What, are you chicken?

Ned: Hardly.

Kristina: Prove it.

Ned: We're not in high school, all right? I don't have to prove anything.

Kristina: You know what? You know what I think? I think that you are afraid. You're afraid of finally admitting that you're wrong, of finally taking responsibility and making new choices -- ones that don't involve being the family doormat.

Ned: Doorman. I mean gatekeeper. Okay, look, if I do something daring for you, will you shut up?

Kristina: Yeah, that and a job.

Ned: Don't push it.

Kristina: I'm not worried at all. Once I get through with you, you will be so busy living your life, you will have to beg someone to hold down the office. Come on, come on.

Ned: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Right now?

Kristina: Yes, right now. Let's go.

Ned: Wait, wait a second. Hold on a second.

Kristina: What? What?

Ned: Just tell me one thing -- have you ever really gone luging?

Kristina: Maybe.

[Kristina giggles]

Alexis: I don't remember the last time I felt this relaxed. Maybe never.

Sonny: Then it's past time.

Alexis: I -- I promised myself when Helena had me locked up that if [transcript ended here]
