Sonny: I have not seen A.J. Quartermaine in days. Nikolas: You ready? Elizabeth: Think so. Gia: Bon voyage. Luke: This is a start. Right? Bobbie: If you want Laura to be a part of your life, you're going to have to trust each other. Stefan: You're about to lose, finally. Skye: A.J., where in the world have you been? The whole family's been worried sick. A.J.: They'll get over it. Skye: Why didn't you call me? A.J.: I was hung up. Skye: Well, were you off on a trip or away with friends? A.J.: Or what, at a bar, getting wasted? Skye: I didn't say that. A.J.: That's what everyone in this family assumes. A.J. disappears; he must be on a bender. Skye: You wouldn't do that. A.J.: The lone voice in the wilderness. Skye: Dad and dear old stepmom didn't know what to believe. Then a bartender came by with your car keys and said you were off on a binge. A.J.: Really? He actually would have gone through with it. Skye: Who? A.J., what are you talking about? What's going on? A.J.: I don't care what it takes or how much it costs me, Sonny Corinthos is going down. Sonny: Carly? It's me. I need to see you. [Knock on door] Sonny: Carly? Carly, I'm not here to fight or play around. This is very important. Carly? Carly: I'm sorry. I was sleeping. What did you want? Lucky: Elizabeth? Gia, have you seen Elizabeth? Gia: She's not here. Lucky: I have this -- this terrible feeling that somebody has hurt her. I couldn't stop it. It -- Gia: Oh, my God, you don't remember. Lucky: I don't remember what? Nikolas: Ahem. Laura: Nikolas. I'm glad to see you. Scott: I'll stay with Luke. Laura: Thanks. Luke: You again. Why don't you give up, Baldwin? It's over for you. Laura and I are married now. You're history. Scott: Hey, Spencer, what year are we in? Is it 1982? Luke: Whatever year it is, you still haven't signed the divorce papers. How many times I got to punch your lights out before you pick up a pen? Laura: Is Elizabeth all right? Nikolas: Yeah, she's fine. Everything seemed to go according to plan, except that Gia and Lucky showed up after Helena left. Laura: Is Lucky all right? Nikolas: Physically, yeah. He thought Elizabeth was really gone, and I couldn't tell him the truth because if I did, Helena might get it out of him and it would blow my whole cover. Laura: Oh, my God. What about Gia? Nikolas: Well, Elizabeth finally woke up while she was there, and we had to tell her everything. Laura: Will she keep it a secret? Nikolas: I made clear to her that she has to. You know, it's like part of me feels like I'm happy that I don't have to lie to her anymore, and the other part of me is afraid of what could happen if she goes digging around. Laura: You have to make her understand that Helena is capable of anything. Nikolas: You should have seen this. I mean, the worst part of it was waiting for Elizabeth to wake up. Every minute was like -- I mean, I can't explain it. It was like an eternity. And while I stood there, not knowing if she would survive, I had to make pleasant conversation with Helena and make a show that I was happy to have passed her test with flying colors. I just -- I feel like my father. Laura: No. No. Don't say that. Stavros: Too bad your lady love isn't here to watch the moment of your heroic triumph. Stefan: Don't speak to me about Chloe. Stavros: Why not? She may have been impressed enough with you to accept your pathetic proposal for marriage. Stefan: This is your judgment day, Stavros. Stavros: Oh, okay. Is this where I'm supposed to beg for my life? Oh -- and our mother’s? Gia: Lucky, have you seen Helena? Lucky: Uh -- well -- I have these blank spots, periods of time that I can't remember, and this overwhelming feeling of regret that I can't quite touch, something to do with my father. I have done something to him, you know? You know, I know I'm not supposed to remember being with Helena, but I know that I was here. Gia: So she still has power over you. Lucky: I'm getting better at fighting it all the time. I was so close today, but I slipped back. Listen, I know you're not supposed to tell me about anything that's going on because you're afraid that I'll betray it to Helena. Please, Gia, if you know anything about Elizabeth, you know where she is, please let me know. Gia: Lucky, I'm sorry. I don't know where she is. Lucky: But I've got this feeling that something terrible has happened, that I've lost her forever. Gia: No, no. You haven't. Lucky: Why? Gia, what's going on? Come on, you can tell me. Laura: You are the opposite of your father. You always have been. Nikolas: Right, when I act like I didn't care what happened to Elizabeth. Laura: That's just it. It was an act and you had to be convincing about it to save your brother's life. Nikolas: I'm just -- I'm glad it's over. Laura: And Elizabeth is all right, she made it safely to the boat, she's on her way to her hiding place until all of this is over? Nikolas: The sooner, the better. Laura: Yeah, and it will be, it will be if everything goes as planned. Nikolas: What do you mean, "goes as planned"? Laura: Stefan is out of jail. He's going to try to help -- Nikolas: Wait a second. Back up, back up, back up. What do you mean, Stefan's out of jail? Laura: I broke him out of jail. We -- Nikolas: I really wish you'd not have done that. He is safer there. Laura: But we need his help right now. Nikolas: So what, he's going to go confront Helena? How? What's his plan? Laura: I don't know exactly. Nikolas: You can't go up against Helena without a backup plan. Laura: He knows his mother better than anybody. Nikolas: She can't stand him. Okay, I'm on the inside now. She trusts me. Laura: No, you really have to stay out of this one. You really do. Nikolas: If I sit by and do nothing and something happens to Stefan, I will never forgive myself. Now I have got to go. Laura: No, Nikolas. There's something I haven't told you. Stavros: I've won before. I'll win again. Stefan: I will prevail because I'm fighting for the people I love. Stavros: Self-righteous. Don't you know that that's really boring? Stefan: This is for Chloe and all the lives you would have destroyed and especially for Nikolas. Stavros: I love my son. Stefan: Well, thank God he will be spared ever knowing what that means. You won't ever have the chance to make him into your image. Stavros: Oh, Stefan, you're too late. He's already proven himself my worthy son and a true Cassadine. Stefan: He's done no such thing. Stavros: My mother was there as a witness. She was a pretty little thing. I'm sure you knew her -- Elizabeth Webber. Stefan: No! Stavros: Sleep well, brother. [Stavros laughs] Helena: Well, finally. There wasn't even a magazine to read. I thought you'd never stop baiting him. Stavros: Oh, Stefan is amusing when he thinks he's going to win. It's actually the only time he's any fun at all. Helena: End this now. Stavros: Mother, there are better ways to punish people. You let them see what they've lost. Sonny: Is that why it took you so long to answer the door? Carly: What? Sonny: Well, I mean, you know, you have other robes and then you heard my voice and then you, for whatever reason, wanted to wear that one. Carly: Now, why would I do that, huh? Sonny: Can I come in? Carly: Look, though, if it is about the divorce, why don't you just talk to my attorney, okay? Sonny: It's about Michael. Carly: What is it? Sonny: Read it yourself. Carly: This says that A.J. relinquishes all parental rights to Michael, that he can't try and take him away from me again. Is this for real? Sonny: Yeah. Carly: Oh, my God. Thank you. Skye: A meat locker? A.J.: Yeah. Sonny's always been subtle. Skye: And you still refused to sign the papers? A.J.: Yeah. But then he hit me. He hit me below the belt. It started off with a couple of bottles of vodka and then topped it off with a fake newspaper article about my death in a drunk-driving accident. He won that battle. I'll give him that one, but that's it. All bets are off. I'm coming at him with everything I've got, Skye Skye: Look, A.J., come on. You need to think this through. A.J.: I already have. You know, he thinks that -- he thinks that I'm just going to run off with my little tail between my legs because he's put the fear of God in me. That's the kind of ego this guy's got. He actually thinks that I'm going to sit back and do nothing. Skye: Well, that's exactly what you're going to do -- nothing. Carly: I cannot believe you got A.J. to relinquish his rights to Michael. He's been so determined and -- Sonny: The signature's real. Carly: How did you convince him? Sonny: It doesn't matter. Carly: As long as Michael is safe from A.J., I don't care what you had to do. Sonny: A.J. already cost us a child. Michael needs security, not a father who spins out of control or uses him like a bargaining chip. Carly: You're the one that Michael trusts, Sonny. Sonny: You know, when I came over and he told me about his nightmare and that he thought that I'd left and wasn't coming back -- I don't want Michael to have that kind of fear. No child should. It shakes your life, leaves you feeling like there's no safety or, you know, there's nobody you can trust. Carly: Michael won't grow up like that. Sonny: I love him and I want him to know that. Carly: He does, Sonny. And I can't thank you enough for what you did, especially considering our -- our own messy situation. You could have pulled away, but you didn't. Sonny: Yeah. That's not all. There's something else that I want to do. Luke: So you heard my wife and I were going through a little rough patch over that Miss Starlight thing and you decided you'd come and try and cash in. Well, I'm telling you, this pathetic torch you're carrying is stupid. You got to drop it because you haven't got a snowball's chance in a Swedish sauna. Scott: Luke, you want to help Laura? You got to focus right now. Try and focus, okay? Now, the Cassadines, they're back in business, and they've got some kind of a secret lab, and see, now, you drew this map, but, you know, I can't make sense of this and nobody else can. Can you look at this? Hey, come on. Take a look. Luke: I know where it is. Scott: Okay. Well, first of all, what year are we in? Luke: What, did you lose your calendar? Scott: Just humor me, will you, Spencer? Luke: It's 2001 and you and I have still got full heads of hair. Laura: I have to tell you what Stefan's up against. Nikolas: There is no time for this. I have got to -- Laura: It's more dangerous than you can possibly imagine. Nikolas: Listen, you are not going to convince me not to go, okay? So just promise me that if anything happens you will protect Gia. Gia: Love doesn't end, Lucky. Lucky: How can you say that after Nikolas dumped you? Gia: I just know it's true -- the way you know things have happened, even though you can't actually remember them. You know, the next time Helena comes after you, just tell her where she can shove it and go to that place in your mind where you're with Elizabeth and you love her just the way it used to be. Lucky: But it's gone. Helena ripped that out of me. Gia: It is not gone, Lucky. Nothing can conquer love. I mean, I know it sounds trite and pie-in-the-sky, but it also happens to be true. And someday really soon, this is all going to be over, Helena will be gone, and the Nikolas I love will be back with me and you will be back with Elizabeth. Lucky: What we want doesn't matter anymore. Helena's not going to let any one of us be happy -- not you or me or Nikolas or Elizabeth or my parents. Laura: Nikolas, please, don't get involved with what Stefan's doing. You have absolutely no idea -- Nikolas: Look, you know that if it wasn't for Stefan, Helena would have raised me to be exactly like my father. You know that. Laura: Well, that's it. It's about your father. Stavros: It must be a parent's worst nightmare to realize that their child is such a painful disappointment -- not that I would ever know. Stefan: What have you done to Nikolas? Stavros: I didn't have to do anything to Nikolas. Nikolas and I are connected. We're part of each other. Stefan: He's nothing like you. Stavros: You tried so hard, didn't you? You filled his head full of your lies. What do they call that? Misplaced aggression. You hated me, so you tried to teach Nikolas to hate me, too. Stefan: I didn't teach him. I didn't have to. Stavros: There was nothing you could have done to turn my son against me. And now you get to witness the man my son has truly become -- which, I might add, is absolutely nothing like you. Stavros: Hmm. You know, I remember when Nikolas was a baby. I held him in my arms. He was so strong, even then. He would grip my fist so tightly. My little boy -- Stefan: He's Laura's son, too. Stavros: Laura. Laura, Nikolas, and myself, we belong together, we three. Nikolas will help her realize that. She'll soon know that no man has ever loved her as much as I. Stefan: You're delusional. Stavros: Speak for yourself, Stefan. And now you will have the privilege and the honor of watching my son and I be reunited. And you will watch as my son takes his place at my side. Nikolas: Well, what do you need to tell me about my father? Helena: Well, Nikolas, my darling, there you are. Well, I hope I'm not interrupting anything. Nikolas: My mother was actually having a hard time accepting the fact that I'm a Cassadine. Helena: Well, did she mention her little ruse this afternoon? Nikolas: What? Helena: Well, Luke and Laura were trying to run away without being seen, although I can't imagine what all the secrecy was about. Well, is poor Luke sick? Could this be his room? Laura: Stay out of there. Nikolas: Actually, my grandmother is on the board of the hospital, so she's entitled to walk in any room she pleases. Helena: Well said, Nikolas. Scott: What's going on out here? My daughter just had a tonsillectomy, you know? Helena: Well, I -- Scott: What's with the noise out here? Helena: I seriously doubt that. Scott: Laura, Serena's asking for you. Laura: Oh. Okay. Scott: Okay. No, no, you're not going anywhere near my daughter, so fly away, will you? Helena: Well, you know, it's a great mistake to get involved in matters that don't concern you. Scott: Okay. Laura: Where's Nikolas? Scott: He just left with Helena. Laura: Look, will you stay with Luke, please? I've got to stop him. Scott: Yeah. Luke: What am I doing here? You. What did you do? Oh, you ran me down with your car so you could chase the ambulance, didn't you, just for a little extra cash. That's what you did, yeah. Scott: Hey, Spencer, Helena Cassadine was just -- Luke: Helena? The lab. Scott: Right. Right, there's a lab. You know where it is? Luke: Laura knows where it is. The doors -- they're all in here. Scott: Spencer, Spencer, hey, Laura looked at this map and she couldn't make any sense out of it. Come here. Help me, help me. Tell me what you're talking about. Luke: Oh, the father and the son. The father is the son. Son is the -- Scott: What -- Luke: The father is the son. Scott: Spencer, Spencer, come on, come on, come on. Laura: I can't find them. I guess Nikolas must have gone with Helena. Scott: That's too bad because he's probably been down to that lab a hundred times. Laura: No, no, he hasn't. He's only pretending to be loyal to Helena. Scott: Pretending? So his whole behavior's just been, like, a sham? Laura: Yeah, and if she finds out, she will turn against him. But I have to find him. I -- I have to warn him. Scott: Wait a second before you go. Luke said something about the lab, a clue here. Maybe we can make some sense out of it, all right? Laura: We have to. Skye: A.J., Sonny Corinthos is not the kind of man that you come at head-on. A.J.: I'm going to hit him so hard and so fast, he won't have time to react. Skye: Oh, A.J., wake up. You'll be nothing but a minor nuisance in Sonny's life, at best. A.J.: My whole life, people have tried to back me down -- my family and now Sonny. No way. Forget it. I am not going to let this guy make a fool out of me. Skye: What, you're going to intentionally put yourself in danger? A.J.: Nobody tells me what to do! I have rights and I'm fighting for them, that's all! Skye: A.J., please, you can't risk it. I mean, come on, you're -- you're like the only family member that I can stomach for more than five seconds at a time. A.J.: I promise I'll be careful. Skye: A.J., please. Just let go of your pride and drop this, okay? A.J.: You think this is about pride? This is about Michael. He took my son, Skye. He took son. Sonny: I want to make this a serious commitment here. Carly: Oh, Sonny, you already have -- Sonny: No, you got to listen to me, okay? I want to adopt Michael. Carly: Adopt him? Sonny: That's what I said. Sonny: I want to adopt Michael. I want to be his father, and he wants it, too. Carly: And the divorce? Sonny: Well, I mean, that's a separate issue. Carly: Whether or not you and I are together has everything to do with Michael's life. Sonny: He -- okay, but he will have a great life with two loving parents. Carly: Well, you've obviously had some time to think about this. Sonny: It's been on -- it's been on my mind for a long time. Carly: It's a huge responsibility, Sonny. Sonny: I know I don't deserve it. Carly: I didn't say that. Sonny: Well, you know, I'm just -- I will never walk out on Michael. No matter what happens in that boy's life, no matter what he does, I will never abandon him. I've asked that question a lot. I know sometimes, you know, my life is dangerous and, you know, I break the law. I don't want Michael following in my footsteps. I don't want him involved in what I do. Who knows, you know, maybe one day he'll look at me and say, "I hate the life you chose." I mean, I don't know, you know? Carly: Look, nobody ever knows when they raise a child. All that anyone can do is their best. Sonny: Yeah. All I know is I can give him confidence and a father who loves him. Carly: You know, Sonny, in the best of all possible worlds, I -- I want Michael to have a mother and a father who live under the same roof. Sonny: Sometimes it -- it doesn't work out that way. I mean, Michael, you know, he'll be okay knowing he's got two parents who love him and will be there, no matter who lives where. I'm choosing to make a commitment to Michael. I'm the only father he's ever really known. Carly: And I'm his mother. I'm the single most important person in his life. Sonny: Well, see, that's what I'm talking about. Carly: What? Sonny: I think it's best that we think about what's best for Michael, not you. Carly: The person it's best for is you, Sonny. Gia: I'm not giving up, which means you are not allowed to, either. Lucky: A lot of good that'll do. Gia: The kind of love that Nikolas and I had and the kind that you had with Elizabeth, it doesn't just disappear. It is always there, and you just have to believe in it and know that it'll come back. When two people love each other, it's like a miracle. Love is so powerful. It can break through pain and hurt. It can knock down anything that tries to push against it. Lucky: I thought I'd lost you. Elizabeth: You will never lose me, Lucky. Our lives are woven together. No one can pull us apart. We belong together. We've known it since the beginning. So you can't let Helena win. You have to fight. Remember our love and know she can't touch it because I am with you in your heart. Lucky: I just felt like Elizabeth was just here. I could smell her skin. I could feel her hair. Gia: See? I told you. Lucky: She told me I had to fight. Gia: You do. There are happy endings, Lucky. You just have to believe in them and not give up. Nikolas: So what's going on, Grandmother? Why are we on the roof? Helena: It leads to our destination. Nikolas: An elevator? Helena: One that will take us 30 floors beneath General Hospital. Nikolas: You can't be serious. Helena: Oh, I'm very serious, Nikolas. Your life is about to change forever. Everything and everyone who came before will seem small and insignificant. Come. Come. Stavros: Tell me more about my son. Mother says that he likes horseback riding. Stefan: Why would I reveal anything about Nikolas to you? Stavros: Well, he'll tell me soon enough himself. He and I have so much to catch up on. Stefan: You actually believe this will be a joyful reunion for him? Stavros: Stefan, you really do hate losing, don't you? But then again, you always did. I want to know what kind of, like, books he likes to read. Biographies? Historical fiction? Well, I suppose anything is better than the dreadful Latin grammar books that you and I were force-fed, eh? Stefan: Stavros, you're setting yourself up for quite a shock. Stavros: I am going to prove to you how wrong you are, brother. And you are going to have a front-row seat. A.J.: I love Michael, Skye. I think about him all the time. I miss him so much. Skye: A.J., I know what it's like to lose someone you love. You know that -- that I lost my adoptive father, Adam, and all the Chandlers. A.J.: I won't lose Michael. Skye: Michael's not being treated badly, is he? I mean, no matter what you think about Carly, she's made a good home for him, and -- and Sonny seems to genuinely care about Michael. Isn't that right? A.J.: Michael loves -- Michael loves Sonny. You know, when Michael and Carly moved out, he was so young, and he doesn't even remember me. You know, Sonny is the only father he knows. Skye: Yeah, so maybe now, just for now, it's really the best thing for Michael. A.J.: Nice try. I know what you're doing. You're just trying to keep me from going after Sonny, that's all. Skye: Yeah, well, sisters do those kind of things. A.J.: I can't believe I'm going to say this. You win. I give. Uncle. Okay, I will back off -- for now. Skye: Good. Good. A.J.: But I'm a little surprised at you. Skye: Why? A.J.: Because if I'm not mistaken, this is the first time since I've known you not to have some conniving little plot up your sleeve. Skye: Oh, I'll have one. See, I'm just taking the long-term view here. There's going to come a day when Sonny Corinthos wants something really, really badly. A.J.: And when he does, I'm going to be right there to make sure he loses it. Skye: We're both going to be there. Sonny: Why is it best for me? Carly: Well, you get everything you want -- Michael, and without his mother. Sonny: But that's the point -- he'll have both of us. Carly: Somehow you say it like Michael counts and I don't. Sonny: Michael needs me. Carly: You can be in his life whether you adopt him or not. Sonny: I want him -- I want it to be legal so he knows that I'll never leave him. Carly: But you can't adopt him without dealing with me, too, Sonny. Sonny: Well, so this is a package deal? I adopt Michael only if I stay married to you? Carly: I'm trying to be honest you know, I'm going to -- I'm going to need some time to think about this. Sonny: Yeah, that's fine, you know. Alexis will handle the paperwork, and -- you let me know what you decide. Okay? Carly: Sure. Sonny: Okay. Carly: God. Scott: Listen, you know, he was talking about the sins of the father, then he just started singing, and then he sort of left town. Now, does that -- does that mean anything? Laura: No. Scott: He said, "The doors are in your head." Laura: In my head? Scott: Yeah. Does that make sense? Laura: No. You know, it's just a complete waste of time, it's useless, and we are running out of time. You know, Nikolas might be facing something horrible right now, and I don't even know where Lucky is. Scott: Laura, come on, we're going to figure this out, I promise you, I promise. Laura: Well, I hope it's before it's too late. Lucky: Thanks for what you said about love not ending. Gia: So you ready to fight? Lucky: Yes, I am. I'm not going to give in to Helena. She's not going to win. Gia: No. She can't. So what about Helena's pal, Lucien Cain? What do you know about him? Lucky: He's a demon from Hell. He'll grab on to Nikolas and never let him go. Nikolas: It's like a fortress. Helena: Well, I prefer to think of it as a maze. It's amazing. Nikolas: That's cute, Grandmother. Helena: No, an intruder could get hopelessly lost here. Nikolas: Well, why bother? What are we doing here? Helena: Oh, patience, my darling. I have a wonderful scientific miracle to share with you. Nikolas: What sort of miracle, exactly? Helena: Well, one that's very personal to me. It's consumed my life for many, many years. Come. Nikolas: Well, I'm ready. Nikolas: How much further? Helena: Oh, it won't be long now. >> On the next "General Hospital" -- Gia: I need some information. Carly: Yeah, and why should I give you the time of day? Sonny (to Alexis): Is there something else you haven't told me? Roy: Luke? Luke: I never saw you before in my life. Helena: Your son is standing just beyond that door. Are you ready to meet him? |
