By Stephanie Alexis: This is the part where you finally tell me what's going on? Jax: Not here. Come with me. Elizabeth: Please stay here. I want to keep you safe. Jax: She was trying to pull away from you. Stefan: This was an accident. Chloe, hear me out just one last time. I promise I won't ask you again. Helena: Get rid of Stefan today. Gia: Lucky? Lucky? Elizabeth: Gia? Gia, what is it? Gia: Lucky's gone. Elizabeth: For how long? Gia: I don't know. Elizabeth: Well, what time is it? Gia: I don't know. Why weren't you watching him? Elizabeth: Why weren't you? Lucky: Where'd it go? If I can't bring it back and you can't bring it back -- Lucky: God! You love me. I'm supposed to love you. Lucky: But I don't. Chloe: I'm tired, Stefan. Stefan: I'm not surprised. You're probably as tired of me as I am of myself. Chloe, I look in your eyes and I see both sides of myself mirrored there -- the one who's told a thousand lies and another who's begging for absolution. Chloe: We've had this discussion. Stefan: I won't be the one you mistrust much longer. Nikolas had the right idea when he chose to renounce the family. But I plan to take it to the next level. I'm going to tear apart the Cassadine Empire. I'm going to destroy it. It's the only way I'll ever be free. Helena: I want Stefan dead. Now he's besotted with that clunk of a woman, trying to prove himself worthy. Stavros: Where's your sense of humor, Mother? Stefan trying to prove himself worthy of anything is worth a laugh or two. Helena: His infatuation could bring about the one thing that truly threatens us. If Stefan dismantles the Cassadine Empire, he will drain us of our power -- which is why he must be eliminated. Stavros: Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, Mother, but I'm not quite done with my dear brother yet. Helena: You have no choice. Stavros: Quid pro quo, I allowed you all the time in the world to play with Luke like he was some wounded bird when it would have been so much simpler just to eliminate him. Helena: This is different. Stavros: Why? Because you've lost your toy and I have not? Helena: Luke Spencer is dying. Now, Stefan is alive and he's desperate. You've had your fun, and it's time to be serious. Stavros: I am serious, Mother. And if you cross me on this, you will find out exactly how I'm serious I am. [Phone rings] Alexis: All right, well, this is just great, isn't it? This is just great. Just what I needed. Hello -- okay, so, it's bad luck Friday. Jax: Friday the 31st? Alexis: It has a one and a three in it, and if you're a Cassadine, that's good enough. These were Italian. I only wore them three times. Okay, so you said that Helena -- at the hospital, you told me that she was volatile, even more so than usual. You want to elaborate? Does this have something to do with Nikolas' sudden allegiance to her? Jax: Not that I know of. Alexis: How long are you planning on dragging this out? Jax: I'm not. Alexis: You have been trying to tell me something since you got back, so I need you to form the words in your mouth, use them, and speak. What are you keeping from me? Gia: All right, thank you. The front desk hasn't seen Lucky, but what does that mean? Nothing. Elizabeth: I don't have time for this. I just have to find him -- Gia: And what? Elizabeth: You know, I need to get back into Helena's room. Will you call her and see if she's there? Gia: You call. If you can't trust me enough to tell me why you keep sneaking off into Helena's room and what you're searching for, then you know what? You are on your own. I'm going to go look for Lucky. Stavros: If you could see inside my soul, Mother, and see my pursuit of Stefan is far from lighthearted. I have every right to my hatred. When I was dead, he tried to take my son and my wife and make them his. He stole from a dead man gifts that he was never fit to have, things that I will have back. But in the meantime, he must pay. Helena: Stefan is going to dismantle everything that has the Cassadine name on it. Stavros: Stefan won't have time to worry about it. I have plans for Chloe Morgan. I'm going to make sure she leaves him high and dry. And when Stefan is alone and isolated, he will pay more. I want him trapped. I want him to see retribution coming and be powerless to stop it. Now do you understand? Helena: There is a wild streak in you that satisfies your own hunger but ignores the needs of the family. Now, I will not allow it to destroy everything that I have worked so hard to accomplish. If you will not get rid of your brother, I will. Stavros: If you think you're still calling the shots, Mother, you're sorely mistaken. Helena: You can't kill me. Stavros: Why not? You've served your purpose. Helena: You need me to stay alive. Stavros: Why? Helena: If you want to survive to enjoy your revenge, you need me more than you think you do. Chloe: What do you expect to gain by tearing apart the one thing that you have fought your whole life to keep together? Stefan: I think you know the answer to that -- you. Chloe: Stefan -- Stefan: But if not you, at least I hope to regain my self-respect. Nikolas will be provided for with the trust fund that you agreed to admit, and the estate will be given away to worthy charities, with Alexis and possibly Laura as executors. I'm leaving Windermere, this town, my family. I need to find out who I am without the legacy. I've devoted all my life to my family. I have nothing to show for it but regret. My mother's need for control and vengeance has been growing since the day my brother died. She won't forget Stavros. She won't let me forget him Everywhere I look, everything I hear and see conjures up his presence, his cruelty. The other day I -- I even thought I heard his voice. I know it's not possible. But it was as if Stavros were two feet away from me. Chloe: What did he say? Stefan: The same thing you said to me on the docks -- that I'll never be good enough. Chloe, that will become a self-fulfilling prophecy if I stay here. Now, I know so far I haven't been good for you, but I could be. I love you. I love you, Chloe. Please come with me. You tell me your conditions. I'll meet every one. Chloe: Stefan -- Stefan: Any conditions. We'll live wherever you like -- Milan, Paris, Barcelona if you'd prefer. I'll support your career. We'll build the life that we both want. Chloe: Stefan -- Stefan: Chloe, this could be the start of everything we've always wanted. Chloe: Stefan, I can't. Stefan: No, you can. If you'd just give me that one more chance to prove to you that I've changed -- Chloe: I don't have any chances left in me, Stefan. Stefan: Is this because of the story Helena told you about the girl who drowned? Chloe: No, no. This is not because of -- Stefan: Has she been filling your head with some new poison? What is it? Chloe: No. I can't take the lies. You are not forced to tell these lies. I think it's in your nature, and I will not be with a man that I don't trust. Stefan: I swear to you, there will be no more lies. None. Chloe: I want you to go. Stefan: Chloe -- I know what we could be together if you'll just give me a chance. Chloe: I need you to respect my decision right now, Stefan, and I want you to go. Stefan: Chloe, you hear all the warnings against me, but you refuse to hear what's in my heart. Now, if we can get away from my family where they can't interfere, we'll be fine -- Chloe: Stefan, my head is starting to hurt. I really need you to leave. Please leave. Stefan: Chloe, I -- I can't lose you. Chloe: Stefan, will you get out of here, please, please. Stefan: I can't let you go. Melissa: Ms. Morgan needs her rest. You have to leave. Stefan: No, no -- Melissa: Please, Mr. Cassadine -- Stefan: Listen, I'm sorry. Chloe, I'm sorry. Look, I'm calm. I'm fine now. I'm fine. Chloe: Stefan -- Melissa: I'm going to ask you to leave again, please. Tony: Is there a problem here? Melissa: Ms. Morgan would like to be left alone. Tony: Okay. Ahem. If you don't want to make trouble, let's just go outside in the corridor, all right? Otherwise I'll call security. Stefan: Chloe, listen to me. I am sorry. Tony: Outside, please. Melissa: You all right? Chloe: Yeah, I just got a headache. I'm okay. I'm really sorry about all that. Melissa: That's okay. Don't you worry about it. And you certainly don't have to apologize. Dr. Jones will handle everything. Chloe: Thank you. *********************************************** Tony: This hospital is a place for healing, not harassment. And if I have to, I'll have Chloe slap a restraining order against you. Stefan: That won't be necessary. I only need a moment to apologize to her. Tony: No, you are not going near my patient again. Stefan: All right, but will you give her a message please? Will one of you give her a message? Tell her that I'm sorry. I'll be at Windermere. Please call me. Tony: What's wrong with him? Melissa: I don't know. I'll tell you one thing, though. I would really hate to wake up one morning and find that I was born into that family. Jax: Okay. It's about the necklace that was stolen before the auction. Alexis: What about -- do you have a lead? Jax: Yeah, you could say that. Alexis: Helena, right? Jax: Not even close. Alexis: Then who? Kristina: Oh, my God, I am so sorry. My fault. Elizabeth: I am sorry. Here, let me get it. Okay. Kristina: Whoever treated you to a shopping spree should try and be more generous next time. Elizabeth: Thank you. [Elevator rings] Kristina: Oh, my elevator. Hold, please. Elizabeth: Did you get our note about leaving extra towels? Woman: I'm sorry. I believe that you have the wrong room. Elizabeth: No, you see, I'm engaged to Mrs. Cassadine's grandson. Woman: I need to see your key in order to allow you to stay. Elizabeth: Of course you do. It would be downstairs at the front desk. Now, if you want, I can go all the way back down there and get the key, Linda. I'll do it, but it would be a great inconvenience. Just like Mrs. Cassadine was inconvenienced this morning when there weren't enough towels. Oh, and you know what? That towel warmer -- it doesn't work anymore. Also, you know, she did mention something about her room service order arriving late. Now, if you know anything about Mrs. Cassadine, you know she wants somebody fired, but I talked her out of it. So, now, do you still want me to go all the way back downstairs and get my key, or would you like to remain my friend? Linda: My apologies. Elizabeth: No problem. Elizabeth: Oh, thank you, God. I hope I'm not too late to save Lucky. Stavros: Mommy, is there something that you're not telling me? Helena: Your recovery is not complete. Stavros: Ha, ha. You're bluffing. Helena: Oh. You know, I love you too much to even think what it might be like if I were not here to oversee your medication. Stavros: When do I need this medication, and what is it? Helena: When it’s your birthday, in October. Stavros: October? What kind of medication in October? Helena: An injection. Stavros: Oh, an injection. Of what? Of what? Ugh! Stavros: Damn you. Helena: Stefan must be dealt with immediately. Now, if we wait one more day, there's no telling what damage he could do. Stavros? Stavros, are you listening to me? Stavros: Fine, Mother. You win. I will kill my brother tonight. Chloe: Stefan. Nurse! Nurse! Melissa: Coming, coming, coming. Are you all right? Chloe: Melissa, yeah. Is Stefan Cassadine still here? I need -- Melissa: No, it's all right. He's left. It's okay. Chloe: Dr. Jones -- may I speak with him, please? Melissa: I'll go get him. He's down the hall. Chloe: Thank you. Tony -- Tony: What's wrong? Chloe: Tony, I just had a dream, like I saw things through Helena's eyes. Could this accident have triggered something? Tony: It's possible, but your tests indicate that you're fully recovered. Chloe: I know. This was probably my subconscious working overtime. I'm sure it was just a dream. But it was just -- it was dangerous, and I was putting really weird things together. And, like, there was this man that I know as someone completely different. Tony: I think it was probably your subconscious. To the best of my knowledge, pressure on the nerve caused those dreams the last time and it was an anomaly. It was a condition I've never seen or heard before. So it's highly unlikely that your sixth sense has come back. I would be willing to bet it was just your subconscious trying to deal with some stress in your life. But we're going to take the brain scan just to make sure, okay? [Pager beeps] Chloe: Okay. Tony: Schedule an M.R.I. for this afternoon, and you try to rest, okay? And I'll get back to you later. Chloe: Thanks, Tony. Tony: Excuse me. Melissa: Is there anything else I can get you? Chloe: Yeah. I really need to find Stefan Cassadine. Stefan: After all the time I've avoided this place, here I am. In your eyes, this would be a moment of victory, proof that even in death you have power over me. But the truth is you're dust. And as much as I wish I could say these things to your face, your rotting bones will have to suffice. Helena: Your father would be proud of you. Mikkos and I used to enjoy watching you play at the beach. You, with your black hair, glistening, burnished skin. And then there was your younger brother -- pale, pathetic, afraid of his own shadow. Stavros: And Alexis, always conspiring with Stefan against me. Helena: How either one of them has survived this long I'll never know. Stavros: Well, as ineffectual as their alliance was when we were children, it will be twice as ineffectual now. By the way, Mother, I have plans for Alexis. Helena: Stefan first. Stavros: Fine. As long as it's not fast. Helena: As long as it is successful and over by tomorrow. Stavros -- remember -- make it appear as if -- Helena and Stavros: Jax is responsible. I remember. Helena: Excuse me. Alexis: I love you. You found my necklace. You found my mother's necklace. Jax: What? Alexis: You stole this. You stole it before the auction. And you didn't tell me about it why? Jax: Well, I told you the timing wasn't right. Alexis: For what? You aren't broke again, are you? Going to use this as a stake in Monte Carlo? Is that why you -- Jax: You haven't changed, have you? Alexis: Because I -- I love you, but you can't bet away my mother's necklace. Jax: Why, you don't trust me to win? Not that I need to. My financial position is quite healthy at the moment and growing stronger every day. So far wrecking Helena has not only been fun, it's been quite profitable. Alexis: Wrecking her how? Jax: I've been buying up Cassadine corporations all over the world, picking them up real cheap, because Helena's up to something. And we both know she can be quite dangerous. Alexis: Are you worried that she's going to retaliate? Jax: I'm not concerned about myself. Alexis: Me? Jax: I'm always concerned about you. Alexis: What is it that you're not telling me? Jax: Ladies, first. Isn't there a second half to that? ***********************************************, Gia: Lucky? What are you doing? God, you could have burned half the woods down by now or -- not to mention yourself. What is wrong with you? I didn't mean that. I know what's wrong. Look, Elizabeth and I woke up and realized you had left. We didn't know what to think. Lucky: I know the feeling. When I opened my eyes this morning and saw Elizabeth, it's like -- it's like she didn't fit. I know she belonged in my life, but I can't figure out where. I don't love her. Why did I ever? Gia: You're definitely asking the wrong person that question. Lucky: It's like I lost a piece of puzzle and I can't figure out even what's missing. Gia: Trust me. I still think about Nikolas all the time. I can still feel his skin next to me. But he's not real anymore. At least not for me. But every time I see him, my heart pounds so loud that I'm afraid he'll hear it and know how much I still care about him. But I have to stop that, and so do you. So, instead of thinking of yourself as a loose piece to something where you can't belong, think of yourself as being free. Lucky: I do sometimes, but -- Gia: Every time you're around Elizabeth, it brings back the hurt. Lucky: I know. I know. That's how I wound up here. I tried to figure out what it is I've lost. But it's gone. And you're right. You're absolutely right. It does hurt sometimes. So I said to hell with it and decided to send it all up into smoke. Elizabeth: I can get you out if you'll let me. Alexis: How did you know that there's another part to this necklace? Jax: Do you have it? Alexis: I'm afraid that's going to be my secret. Jax: Do you have it? Alexis: Yes, I do. Jax: Do you want to tell me the story? Alexis: No, I don't discuss it with anyone. I never have, not even with Ned, and I'm not going to discuss it with you. It's a horrible story. It fills me with guilt, and I'm not going to talk about it. Jax: Isn't there love somewhere in the story? Alexis: Love defeated. Jax: Oh, that's Helena's voice in your head. Because you're leaving out the biggest part of the story -- or at least one of the main characters. Alexis: And who is that? Jax: Kristina. Kristina: Lord, please bless and protect Alexis from the troubles Jax says she's in. And while you're at it, can you keep an eye on me, too? I keep telling myself that this is a good thing for everyone. If I'm right, could you just send me a little peace of mind? I don't mean anything zen. I just want a few less butterflies in my stomach. Lord, I only want the troubles of the past to be banished. Stefan: There, Brother. The battle is over, but you don't win. The person who wears the Cassadine name, who holds that power in his hands, only has the illusion of victory. I ruined my life learning that truth. You lorded your triumphs over my head. You made me want them, scheme for them. You made me believe they would dispel all my doubts and make me into the man you said I'd never be. You made it seem as if the Cassadine name was all anyone could ever want. Instead it's a curse. Our name made you into the vacant soul you were in life and in death. We were brothers. We should have cared about each other. But you -- you saw my virtues only as flaws. I threatened you because love and compassion were things you could never understand, let alone possess. So you smashed those things in me by making me despise them in myself until I threw them away. I won't see that happen to Nikolas. Your legacy will not claim him or anything else in my life. Especially not the woman I love. Melissa: Hi. Chloe: Hey, did you get a hold of Stefan? Melissa: No. I left a message. Chloe: Did you try Windermere? Melissa: Got voice mail. I left a message there, too. Chloe: Yeah, all right. He's probably on his way there. I really need to speak with him. Melissa: Okay. We'll keep trying. Chloe: Thank you. Melissa: Is there anybody else I can call for you? Maybe a family member or -- Chloe: No, no, thanks. Thanks. Melissa: Think it might help to talk about that dream a little bit? Chloe: I am probably overreacting, and this is going to sound crazy to you, but there was a time in my life when I actually dreamt things that were truly happening. And, thankfully, the ability went away. Melissa: Wow. Chloe: Yeah, it just -- it had me a little nervous, that's all. Melissa: Okay. We're going to keep trying to reach Mr. Cassadine. And in the meantime, don't you hesitate to call if you need me, all right? Chloe: Thanks. Melissa: Okay. Chloe: Thank you. Chloe: What I need is to find out what Stavros Cassadine looked like. Jax: It belongs to Kristina. Alexis: How do you know that? Jax: I know Kristina. I found her. Helena: Well, things are going exactly as I planned. Helena: Oh – Lucky: What are you doing here, Elizabeth? Elizabeth: It's one of the first places I always look for you. Lucky: Oh. Gia: Any bargains? Elizabeth: Gia, I know you mean well, but shut up. Lucky: No, the both of you chill. This is the last time I'm coming here. Lucky: Okay. Gia: This is not a good idea. Lucky: Gia, it's cool, all right? Thanks. All right, Elizabeth. You want to tell me what's so important? Elizabeth: You are. We are. Lucky: I don't feel that way anymore. It's gone. Elizabeth: I can get it back. Lucky: Elizabeth, you need to move on. It's over between us. Elizabeth: No, no, it's not over. So we understand each other? Stefan: I doubt Chloe will come to me now. The ghosts have chased her away -- that bottomless need in me to be loved and be loved in return. Was it so much to ask of a mother, a brother, of a father, to be loved? Our mother calls me a mistake. She's right. It was a mistake being born into this godforsaken family. My only true weakness was not being able to see it. But I see it now. I have finally broken the chains you wrapped around me. I've thrown your almighty empire to the wind. And I curse you. Stefan: You deserved to die. It's in me; I curse your legacy and your memory into everlasting hell! Chloe: Stefan? Ms. Lansbury? Anybody here? Anyone? Stavros' voice: Stefan and I go way back. Chloe: Oh. Stavros' voice: Tell him he'll never be good enough. Stefan's voice: The other day, I even thought I heard Stavros' voice. The only people who knew about the accident were Helena and Stavros. Chloe: Okay. This is crazy. This is crazy. He's older than Stefan. He's dead. There's no possible way that he -- "Stavros and Nikolas." Oh, my God. >> On the next "General Hospital" -- Roy: She told you what she knows. Mac: She lied. Alexis: I really want you to drop it. Jax: Not until you've heard me out, Alexis. Helena: How did this happen? Lucky: Where did you get that? Elizabeth: Please, help me help you. Chloe: I do need to go. |
