By Stephanie Previously on "General Hospital" -- Roy: We need to start building a future. Melissa: Oh, God. Gia: If I didn't know better, I'd think you were still in love with Lucky. Elizabeth: Kind of like you and Nikolas. Angel: Carly sees me as a threat to her marriage. Carly: I did not have to do what I did to Sorel! Sonny: Shut up! Sonny: Carly, you've said enough. Carly: Where do you come off giving me orders? I risked everything for you. Sonny: Carly, stop what you're -- Carly: You know, I didn't expect you to come flying right back into my arms, but I was looking at the bigger picture. Sonny: Can we drop this right now? Carly: After the way you tore into me, I don't feel like being dismissed by you. Sonny: Okay, whatever you have to say, we can do it later. Carly: I was trying to protect you. Sonny: Carly -- Carly: To keep you safe -- Sonny: Carly, come on! Carly: But do you even understand that? Couldn't you come up with a smallest shred of gratitude? Or maybe a little respect for the way that I laid it on the line? Sonny: I'm not discussing anything right here. Carly: You know what, Sonny? You should be thanking me for caring about you and watching your back because I did not have to do what I did to Sorel. Sonny: Shut -- I said shut up. No, no, no, no, no. No. Not another word. Taggert: Come on, Carly, keep going. Come on. Carly: You are going to listen to me. Sonny: You -- I just -- can you just be quiet for one second? Carly: You know what? I did do something to Sorel. It is true. But I did it for you -- all for you. And you know what? You're going to listen to me whether you want to hear about it or not. Roy: I thought maybe I could help you out -- help you out with that plumbing problem you mentioned. That's lame. You seemed a little strung out at the hospital. I -- hey. Melissa: Roy. Roy: Hi. Melissa: What are you doing here? Roy: I was just driving by. I -- I saw a wild bear run into the building. I thought maybe it was following the chocolate trail. [Coughing] Melissa: Gosh. I'm sorry; it's not a very good time. Gia: Here. Elizabeth: Thanks. He looks so peaceful. Gia: So, exactly how long are you planning to hang out in my room? Elizabeth: Until he wakes up. Gia: Aren't you supposed to go meet Nikolas or something? Elizabeth: Oh, no, I just made that up to fool the guy in Helena's room. Gia: You made up a story about rolling around the floor with Nikolas. Isn't that Freudian or something? You blurt out things that you hope will really happen? Elizabeth: Not this again, Gia. Gia: You know, I don't get it. One minute -- one minute you're putting on this big show of concern about Helena getting to Lucky, and the next minute you're stringing Nikolas along. Elizabeth: That is not what I'm doing. Gia: You know, Nikolas admitted that he's wanted you for years, but a guy doesn't just feel that way without some encouragement. Elizabeth: Nikolas knows I only care about him as a friend, okay? Gia: Right. Which is why you keep dropping by the cottage and hugging Nikolas as a friend? He loved me, Elizabeth. And he may not admit it, but he did, and I love him, too. I was in it for the long haul. And you think maybe you could have respected that, considering you were engaged to Lucky. But you had to go after Nikolas, too, and then you lie about it with your little Miss Innocent act. You can go now, he's fine. Elizabeth: Okay, think about what happens if he wakes up and he wants to do something really dangerous and you can't stop him. Gia: Look, I want to help Lucky. That's why I brought him here. Elizabeth: So let me stay. I'm the one person who has a chance of actually getting through to him right now. Gia: All right, then. I'm going to go get some air. I'll be back in a while. If Lucky happens to wake up, tell him he's welcome to stay on the couch. Elizabeth: Thank you. Gia: Go ahead, Elizabeth, boss me around, take over my room, do whatever you want. I'll be a good sport. (Door bell) Nikolas: I'm sorry for startling you. Gia: Guess I look pretty ridiculous muttering to myself. Nikolas: You look beautiful. Gia: You're good. You know that? You can just turn it on and off like a faucet. But then I suppose you've had a lot of practice with all the other girls in the past. Nikolas: So, what are you doing down here? Gia: Why would you care? Nikolas: Well, you just -- you seemed upset. You all right? Gia: I get it. You're out here to butter me up because Granny told you I'm going to sue you and the rest of the dungeon dwellers for all you're worth. Did she mention the part about me smacking her with a strawberry shortcake? Nikolas: You didn't. Gia: Yeah. I was going for the chocolate éclair next, but she ran off. Nikolas: Gia, whatever you do, do not make Helena angry. Gia: I'm not scared. Nikolas: Well, you should be. She'll hurt you, okay? Don't push her like that, promise me. Gia: I annoyed her. She'll get over it. It's not like I sunk her yacht or stole her tiara. Nikolas: God, Gia, this is not a game, okay? You cannot be involved in this. Gia: In what? Lucky: What are you doing here? Elizabeth: Gia called me. Lucky: Why? Elizabeth: What's that on your hands? Lucky: Dirt. I was out on the ledge. Elizabeth: Lucky, we're 15 stories up. Lucky: Yeah, it felt better. Elizabeth: Better than what? Lucky: I mean it felt good. Elizabeth: Were you thinking about me before you went out there? Lucky: Why would I do that? Elizabeth: Because you've been in love with me for years and we're going to get married this summer. Lucky: No, Elizabeth, I wasn't thinking about that. Elizabeth: Oh. Then what was on your mind? Lucky: I don't remember. What does it matter anyhow? Where's Gia? Elizabeth: She left. She wanted to give us a little time alone. Lucky: Oh. Well, there's nothing to say. Elizabeth: No, Lucky, please wait. Don't go. I know you don't feel anything when you look at me. Helena erased it all from your mind. Lucky: Not Helena again. Elizabeth: She did. I watched her do it. Lucky: When? Elizabeth: In the safe house. I hid in the closet before she came in. I watched the whole thing, Lucky. I wanted to stop her, but I was so afraid of what she might do to you. Lucky: I don't remember any of this. Elizabeth: Of course you don't. Helena wants you to think that it was your decision. She wants you to believe that you honestly don't care about me anymore. Lucky: Okay, Elizabeth. All right, all right, all right. Assuming Helena was even in the room, what did she say? Elizabeth: She told you to forget that day we fell in love, to forget all your feelings for me, the happiness we shared, being in each other's arms, the warmth and the tenderness you shared with me. Even the color of my eyes. I know you don't remember any of this and I know you can't think of a single reason to stay in this room, but I don't care because I still love you as much as ever and I am not going to give up on you, no matter how hard you push me away because I know -- I know that you still love me in your heart. Lucky: How could I not love you? Roy: I should have called first. Melissa: No, no, no -- Roy: I'm sorry to bother you -- no, sorry. I was just about to grab a bite. I thought -- Melissa: Shh, shh, shh. Be quiet, okay, because he's very upset. Roy: He? Melissa: Yeah. [Coughing] Melissa: That's Bruno. He's really upset. Roy: Bruno the biker? Melissa: He's got a wonderful touch. You know, he really does. Roy: Is that -- is that right? A wonderful touch? Melissa: With cars. With cars, Roy. He's Bruno the mechanic. Roy: Bruno is the guy who kept topping your drink off at Jake's. Melissa: Okay. Remember that my car is very temperamental. And I don't know, it's just the weirdest thing. It's like Bruno -- he just can sense what's wrong with my car. He's saving me so much money with my carburetor problem. [Bruno sobs] Bruno: Why? Why? Roy: Good for him. That's great. Melissa: He's depressed. Roy: About your carburetor? Melissa: About his wife. She left him after five years of marriage. Bruno: Melissa? Are you okay? Melissa: I'm okay. Bruno, come here. Look who's here. Bruno: You again. You stalking Melissa or something? Roy: No, Bruno, I'm not. Bruno: So why is it you keep showing up? Roy: I'm her boyfriend. Bruno: Not too smart. Roy: That's beside the point. Bruno: Thanks for listening. Melissa: Anytime. Anytime. But listen -- remember what I told you, okay, about trying to be a little bit more in touch with other people's needs. Bruno: Thanks. Melissa: Okay. I'll see you later. Come on in. Roy: Yeah, a piece of advice -- once you're back in circulation, don't keep topping off a lady's vodka gimlet when she's not looking. Melissa: What is? Roy: Chicago. This kind of thing happened all the time. People would meet you and they'd just start pouring their heart out to you, just like that, and you'd listen and give them advice, no matter how busy your own life was. It's just -- it's just something about you. You're like a people magnet. What? Melissa: Ahem. I'm sorry. Roy: What is it? What's the problem? What – [Melissa laughs] Roy: What did I say? Melissa: I'm sor-- ahem. I'm okay. It's that part about being my - [Melissa laughs] Angel: Okay, why am I still here? I thought you were going to move this along. Alexis: I tried. Angel: Well, obviously not very hard. Alexis: The police are busy, Ms. Ellis. You'll have to be patient. Angel: Okay, this is ludicrous. They can't be taking Carly seriously. Alexis: When you bring a man who's been stabbed to your home and hold him there for weeks without contacting anyone, knowing very well that people are looking for him, and then you fail to disclose that you're the daughter of the man that tried to kill him, it's going to raise a few questions. Angel: I thought you said I have nothing to worry about. Alexis: I'm doing the best that I can. You're not making it very easy. Carly: When Sorel held me prisoner, I did everything I could to stay alive and keep you safe. I had to listen to his death threats about you and me and Michael, and he even came on to me. He said he knew how much I loved powerful men and that I would be his when you were gone. And I did everything I could to convince him that you were already dead, and I did. I put on the performance of my life. And then when he found out the truth, I begged him. I fought for you. I begged him not to kill you, Sonny. Sonny: It was a terrible time, and nobody's denying that, but we survived that. Carly: I did it all for you. Do you get it? Sonny: You can't use this to bring back what we had. Carly: What we had was amazing, and you cannot block it out, no matter how hard you try. You know it's true. Sonny, don't you remember the first time we made love? Sonny: Carly, come on, you don't want to bring that right now. Carly: It was so romantic. He will never forget it and neither will I. Mac: Come on, Carly, get to the point. Carly: I will never forget any of the moments that we had in the past, and Sorel wanted to take away our future. Sonny: I don't want to here any more of this. I -- I don't want to hear what you did. Mac: Well, I sure as hell do. Taggert: Come on, Carly, spill it. Carly: You have to know I did it for you. Sonny: It won't change anything. Carly: Sonny, I was fighting for you. And when Sorel was holding me prisoner and after he started to get better -- Sonny: Carly, don't say it. Carly: I continued to fight for us, for our family because we had to stay a family. I couldn't just let Sorel hurt you. Sonny: How far did you take it? Carly: You can ask me, Sonny. You want to know if I killed Joseph Sorel. Sorel deserved to die. Sonny: Well, you know, Carly, if you're so determined to tell me, then you're going to have to go ahead and do it, all right, but you're going to have to -- you're going to have to tell me the truth. You're going to have to answer honestly. Carly: I didn't kill Sorel. Sonny: You didn't? Carly: I wanted to so badly, I thought about it plenty of times, but there was no way I would have ever done it because I have a real responsibility, to you, to Michael, to our family. Sonny: Stop with the family stuff. Carly: You didn't kill him either, did you? Sonny: Why should I tell you? Carly: Because you're a fair man and you just asked me to be honest with you, so you owe me an honest answer. Sonny: No, I did not kill Joseph Sorel. Carly: You didn't? If you didn't and I didn't, then who did? Mac: They're on to us. Elizabeth: It's coming back to you. Lucky: Elizabeth, you're beautiful and sexy, and you're standing here telling me how much you love me. I don't get it. Elizabeth: Get what? Lucky: Why I'm not feeling anything, and any other normal guy would have some sort of reaction. Elizabeth: So you believe me about Helena? Lucky: I don't know. Elizabeth: Lucky, people don't stop loving each other out of the blue. There's always a reason. So can you think of why you don't care about me anymore? Lucky: No. Elizabeth: Is there another woman you've fallen in love with? Lucky: Of course not. Elizabeth: So you're saying you can't imagine that ever happening? Lucky: No! Look, you know, we have been through this before, Elizabeth. Elizabeth: Lucky, listen, I am just trying to help you get rid of whatever it is that makes you want to drive fast and balance on hotel ledges. So think, okay? Think. Did I do something to anger you? Lucky: No. We were together, and then we weren't. It just ended. Elizabeth: We were everything to each other. Lucky: Why don't I know that? Elizabeth: Because Helena took it all away. Lucky: No, you know what? It's over. That's what happened. I got some place I got to go. I'll see you, Elizabeth. Elizabeth: No, Lucky, you are staying with me. Melissa: I'm so sorry. It's just I don't think anybody's called himself my boyfriend since -- Roy: Please, keep this up. My ego is -- is blooming. It's spring for my ego. Melissa: That was very sweet of you. Roy: Like you, like you. And how you've changed. Melissa: I know! Sadder and wiser. I'm okay now. I'm sorry. Roy: You're more beautiful, you're more complicated, you seem more comfortable in your own skin. Sometimes it seems like I've known you forever. Other times, it seems like this is all so new, I'm at a loss for words. I want to be part of your life, and when I see a guy in your apartment, I just get this knee-jerk protective reaction, you know? Which is why I threw out the B word, I guess. Melissa: I am so happy you're in my life, especially with everything that's going on. Roy: Have the police been pressuring you about your connection to Sorel? Melissa: Do you mean do they know that Sorel's the one who had Leo killed? No, they haven't said anything so far. Roy: Is that what I think it is? Alexis: Is – Carly: Okay, if you didn't kill Sorel and I didn't, who do you think did? Alexis: What the hell are you two doing? Sonny: Haven't a clue. Alexis: Is this what we can expect from the reinstated commissioner? Constitutional rights just right out the window? By the way, are either of you aware that marital privilege exists, so you can't use any of this in court? Mac: Not to worry, Alexis. Carly's putting on an act. Sonny's playing along. Alexis: What you just did is unbelievably illegal. Taggert: Relax, tiger. No harm, no foul. Alexis: You want me to relax when you two are huddled in the viewing room trying to entrap my client and his wife? Mac: They didn't say anything incriminating. Come on. Alexis: I don't care what you heard or didn't hear because if catch you two doing anything like that again, I will sue the department before close of business the same day. Mac: And if I find out you're covering for a criminal, you'll be an accomplice before, during, and after the fact. Angel: You know what? I am leaving. You have no reason to hold me here. Sonny: She's right, Mac. You got no case. Carly: How do you know? Sonny: You know, too. Carly: Five minutes ago I got through telling you what a nightmare it was being held by Sorel at the penthouse for days, how he threatened my life repeatedly, and you are on his daughter's side? Sonny: Angel had nothing to do with it. You made a mistake, didn't you? Sonny: You were scared when you were with Sorel. Things got all mixed up. You never heard him say anything about Angel, did you? Mac: I think Mrs. Corinthos could speak for herself. Carly: I heard Sorel on the phone, but I guess I never actually heard Angel's name. I suppose it could have been anyone. But when I found out who Angel was, I figured it was just obvious that he would have called her. It is possible that I made a mistake. I was just trying to figure out what happened. Alexis: Which was a common reaction in a highly dangerous situation. Taggert: Yeah, thanks for the impartial opinion. Carly: Yeah, I was confused. I was in a constant state of terror the whole time that monster was holding me. And where the hell were you? The police are supposed to protect and serve, but you certainly were not protecting had to risk his life to get me out of there. Mac: Yeah, well, the L.U.D.s show that Ms. Ellis did not make a phone call from her house or her cell phone. Alexis: Good, then my client is free to go? Mac: She's free to go. For now, Ms. Ellis. Roy: This is the piano from Rosie's in Chicago. What are you doing with it? Melissa: Okay, before you say anything else, I just want you to understand this not, like, some weird shrine to Roy Dilucca. Roy: Darn. Right where my mind went. Melissa: It's just that they're knocking Rosie's down, can you believe that, to make way for some high-rise or something, and so they're selling everything. They kept marking the piano down and down, and nobody was buying it. Roy: Oh, that's ridiculous. This a perfectly fine inst— [Roy hits sour note] Roy: Instrument. It's a little -- it just needs a little tuning. [Roy hits sour note] Roy: Couple of new strings maybe. [Roy hits sour notes] Roy: What the hell? Did they just spill glue on it? What -- what's that? Melissa: Well, I just couldn't stand to see it unappreciated, so I bought it. Roy: I hate to tell you, but it may make a better doorstop at this point. Melissa: Oh. Guess I neglected to tell you that I'm learning how to play. Roy: Oh. Didn't I -- I try to teach you once? Melissa: No, you didn't. You said that I was rhythmically challenged. Roy: Oh, but it was still good. I mean, those cats never came back. Melissa: Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Don't get me started. Ahem. [Melissa plays piano] Melissa: Stars shining bright above you night breezes seem to whisper "I love you" birds singing in the sycamore tree dream a little dream of me Roy: Wow. Melissa: So much for the rhythmically challenged. Roy: That was -- that was beautiful. That was really beautiful. Singer: In the sycamore tree dream a little dream of me Lucky: It's no good, Elizabeth. Just get out of my way. Elizabeth: You helped me when I needed it the most, and now it's my turn to help you. Lucky: I'll be okay! Elizabeth: Lucky, listen to me. Someone really hurt me once. I shut myself off from the world. I didn't want to be touched by anyone. I retreated into my shell, afraid to let anyone in. But you got through. You were kind and gentle and patient. You gave me all the time I needed, and you made me feel safe again. And slowly, I started to learn that if I could trust you, then maybe I could trust other people, too, maybe I could step outside and live my life again. You did that for me, Lucky. You made -- Lucky: The bad feelings go away. Elizabeth: Yes. Sit down. Helena didn't take away the memories of the things we shared. Lucky: You used to sit in your room. Elizabeth: And you'd climb in through my window and you would stay with me so I wouldn't be afraid. Lucky: I slept on the floor, and if you woke up, I would tell you that it was all right, that you weren't alone. Elizabeth: Let me do that for you tonight. Let me stay here. Let me keep you safe. I'll sleep on the couch. Lucky: You know, there's an extra blanket on the bed. Elizabeth: You're going to need it. It's been a little chilly. Lucky: No, no, you should have it. You know, guys don't get cold. Elizabeth: Do you remember saying that before? Last year for my birthday, we went to New York, we stayed in the hotel. Lucky: Yeah. You slept on the bed. Elizabeth: We were going to make love for the first time that night, but we decided to hold off because you were afraid of what Helena's programming had done to your head. Lucky: Oh, no. This is crazy, Elizabeth. You shouldn't even be here right now. Elizabeth: No, Lucky, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to -- I -- Lucky: No, I'm going to be fine by myself, Elizabeth! Elizabeth: But, Lucky, listen to me. This isn't -- this isn't New York, okay? This isn't about love or romance or first-time anything. This is just about me being here. You trusted me once before. Trust me now. Lucky: All right. Nikolas: All I'm saying is you know what Helena's capable of. Gia: I'm not sure I do, so why don't you tell me. Nikolas: I am serious, Gia. Do not go looking for trouble. Gia: Like you are? If you're here looking for your brother's fiancée, she is up in my bedroom with Lucky. Nikolas: Why are they up there? Gia: Look, I brought Lucky to my hotel room to keep him out of trouble. I didn't know to deal with him, so I called for reinforcements, and Elizabeth still knows him better than anyone. Gia: So it doesn't bother you that they're alone in my bedroom? Nikolas: I'm not thrilled about it, Gia, no, but I'm patient. Gia: Wait a minute. You turn on Lucky, you declare you want Elizabeth, and now you're patient? Elizabeth asked me to leave so she and Lucky could have some time alone. You, planning to elope as we speak. Nikolas: Well, that's a chance I'll have to take. Gia: Uh-huh. Cassadine's don't take chances. Something's up. Nikolas: Ahem. Gia: You're not worried because you know there is nothing to worry about. You're the one who erased Elizabeth from Lucky's brain. Nikolas: You're wrong. I didn't do anything to Lucky. Gia: All right. Maybe you didn't do the voodoo yourself, but you got Granny to do it, just like the last time you wanted Elizabeth. Nikolas: Gia, when Lucky came back from his year with Helena, I had no idea why he pushed Elizabeth away, all right? None of us did. Gia: So, what about this time? Nikolas: We all know what Helena is capable of. Gia: Right. So you knew Granny could do it, so you told her to go for round two. Nikolas: Listen to me, Gia. Gia: Hey -- Nikolas: Stay out of this. Gia: No wonder you're not rushing upstairs to break up the happy couple. You know Lucky won't make a move on Elizabeth, even if she takes her clothes off and dances all around the bed. And you can stand here and hit on me all night and still have your chance with Elizabeth in the morning. How can you live with yourself? [Noise] Woman: It's my sciatica again, Melissa. The pain. The pain is shooting down my legs, and that horse pill that the doctor gave me -- oh, told me about. Melissa: Edna -- Roy, this is Edna -- this is Edna. She lives down the hall from me. She's my neighbor. Roy: Very nice to meet you, Edna. Edna: You better be treating her okay. Roy: Yes, ma'am, I am. Edna: I hope you know what you're doing, Melissa. Melissa: Oh, yeah. Edna: Yeah. Bruno doesn't trust him. Melissa: I know. But he kind of grows on you after a while. Carly: Sonny. Sonny, wait. We cannot just ignore this. Sonny: Ignore what, Carly? Carly: What went on in that interrogation room. You knew what I was going to say, and you just came right back at me. We used to connect like that all the time. You remember when you -- you brought me some flowers as an apology for -- God, I don't even know what. And I told you it was not romantic. And so you said, "All right, I'll just give them to Johnny. He can give them to his mother." You teased me about it, and so then I had to shower you with compliments and tell you how beautiful they were and what impeccable taste you had. Sonny: What's your point? Carly: You were never bored with me. Sonny: So what? I don't make life decisions based boredom. I know what you're trying to do Carly: Oh, come on, I watched you, and you felt alive, and for a minute there, you didn't want to stop. And then we walked out of that interrogation room, and you went straight to Angel. It was not about her, though, was it? No, it was about you, and you wanted to shake that feeling you had with me because you do not want to admit that it's real. Sonny: Okay, you want me to tell you how I feel, huh? Carly: Yeah. Sonny: All right. I'm going to tell you right now. I went along with you in there, and we did okay. Carly: Yeah. You helped me. You convinced them that I did not kill Sorel. Sonny: But you -- you should have never gone to the police in the first place. You are Michael's mother. He needs you. He doesn't want you going to jail. Carly: It was more than that. Sonny: I bailed you out for Michael. That's it. Don't be putting things in your head, and no more stunts like this thing you did with Angel. I'm telling you right now. Carly: But how many times do I have to tell you -- Sonny: I don't want to hear it now. Carly: I was looking out for you! Sonny: I don't -- I don't -- I don't want to hear it! You tried to throw an innocent woman in jail. Carly: Angel? Innocent? Carly: I will if you will. Sonny: What I do is none of your business. As soon as you get that through your head, it's going to be better for all of us. On the next "General Hospital" -- Jax: If it weren't for Kristina, I'd never have come back here. Taggert: I'm following up on a lead of my own. Mac: I expect nothing less. Mike: Carly, what did you do? Sonny: I want a divorce. |
