General Hospital Transcript Monday 5/29/00 Provided by Laura Jax: Tony, don't tell me that there's nothing that we can do. If this is the drug that Chloe needs, then I'll get it. No, it's the damn pharmaceutical company that I want to strangle, not you. I'll take care of this, ok? And I'll get back to you. Damn. Chloe: I didn't mean to interrupt. Jax: Oh, you didn't. Chloe: Problem? Jax: No, nothing I can't handle. That was -- that was Tony. Chloe: Did he order the drug? Jax: There's been a hitch. The company that developed and tested the medication won't release it or allow any trials. Chloe: Well, if we can't get it, then we'll just -- Jax: Chloe, we'll get it, ok? I'm sorry about the delay, but I promise you that we will get this drug for you. Chloe: Jax, I hate what my illness is doing to you. Jax: It's just frustrating, that's all, knowing that something is within reach but you just can't touch it. Chloe: Let Tony deal with the pharmaceutical companies. Jax: Tony doesn't know how to negotiate in the business world, ok? This is no problem. I'll take care of it. Chloe: It is a problem. I'm really grateful for everything you've done, but I want you to stop. Jax: This is about E.L.Q. again, isn't it? Chloe: No. It's about us. Jax: Yes, but the message is the same. Chloe: If you tell me that you can get this medication, I believe you. E.L.Q. You don't need. Edward needs E.L.Q. I don't understand why you can't let that go. Jax: Then you don't understand me. You know, a while ago you said that you'd never really known me. I'm afraid you were right. Lucky: I can't do this. Elizabeth: What's wrong? Lucky: Everything's changed. This dinner started and ended a year ago. We can't go back. Nikolas: No, lucky, that's not what we want to do. Ok, look, we're just trying to find a new place to start. If this was a bad idea -- lucky: I knew better than to show up. Emily: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Lucky, lucky, lucky -- nothing's changed. We're all still friends here. Lucky: Everything has changed, Emily. Elizabeth: Lucky, wait! Lucky, please don't go. Roy: Do you want to call? See what I got? Man: Two pair. Roy: Whoa. Full house. Thank you, gentlemen. Man: You're not walking out of here with my money. Roy: Winner takes all, my man. It's mine now. Don't do that. Man: No one cheats me and gets away with it. Roy: You shouldn't be calling me a cheater, man. Man: What's going on here? Bobbie: Looking for this? Man: It's a con. He cheats while she steals from us. Roy: Get out of here. Man: Call the cops. Run them in. Bartender: Hey, man, I saw what happened. You don't want the police. Bartender: All right, guys, show's over. Bobbie: You did it. Roy: We did it. Uh, yeah. Bobbie: Here. I hope that guy's not a regular here. Bartender: Never saw him before. You sure you wouldn't want a job here? Bobbie: Well, thank you. If you'd asked me earlier, I might have taken you up on that. Roy: But at this point, she has other plans. Guess where we're going. Bobbie: Home. Roy: We are going home! Bobbie: Whoo! Carly: Do you remember who gave you this doggie? It was your grandma. On your birthday. I don't know where your grandma is. I don't know why she hasn't called. Just your mommy's here with you. You need to get to sleep, honey. You need to go to bed. Ok? Mommy take you upstairs and read you a story? Your uncle sonny comes home, he can kiss you good night, tuck you in? Hmm? Want to bring your doggie with you? Michael: Dog. Carly: Yeah? Ok. Get your pajamas on, and then we'll -- we'll say the prayer that grandma Lila taught us, ok? And we'll ask god to hold your baby brother real close. Ok, come on, baby. Sonny: My son is dead because of you. a.j.: I'm sorry about the accident -- sonny: No, no, no, you're not sorry. You're afraid. That's why you're here -- to whine and beg for my mercy. Or maybe you just want me to put you out of your misery. Which is it? a.j.: I don't want anything. Sonny: What would equal revenge for the death of a child? A life for a life, maybe? a.j.: Sonny, I didn't mean to hurt Carly or the baby -- sonny: You've been threatening Carly ever since she walked out on you! a.j.: Look, it -- sonny: Now you got her, right? a.j.: It wasn't like that! Sonny: You were drunk, and you killed my child. And now because of your child, you will go unpunished. You owe your life to Michael. Roy: You wouldn't happen to know a private plane and a pilot we could hire, would you? Bartender: Use a commercial airline. Roy: Well, you know, we can't -- Bobbie: You know, we can't because our passports got stolen along with everything else we brought. So all we have left are these clothes on our back and these winnings. Roy: Like she said. So -- bartender: I know a pilot I can call. Roy: We'd appreciate that. Whoa. You got that guy wrapped around your little finger. Bobbie: What was that for? Roy: That was for luck. I've been leading a charmed life of late because of you. I don't want it to stop. Bobbie: Maybe we could just fly out of here tonight. Roy: Wouldn't that be nice? We could land in port Charles while Larkin is still down here combing the beaches for us. Bobbie: Hey, you got promise me something. The second we get back to port Charles, we're going to the FBI Roy: Yeah, I'll do -- I'll do that fast as I can, you know. Long as we got these bank records, I think we have enough. I think we have a ticket. We can put Larkin away for life if there's any justice. Then sonny'll be off the hook and I'll be on your doorstep, ma'am. a.j.: The accident has nothing to do with Michael. Sonny: You know, we promised Michael he'd have a baby brother. He was waiting for him. Now he'll never see his little brother. Michael's hurting because of what you did. a.j.: Sonny, I love Michael. I would never hurt him. Sonny: Yeah? Well, you're never going to get a chance to because, you know, he's not going to see his father unless he wants to. a.j.: You're not god, all right? You cannot deprive me of my son. Sonny: The way you deprived me of mine? I won't have your life on my hands. I'm going to look at Michael every day and think of you. a.j.: I'm the reason he exists. Sonny: Mm-hmm. And that one brilliant accident is the only reason you still exist. Every time you take a breath, you should thank Michael because that boy is special. Everything you'll never be. You're not a man. You have no honor. You have no pride. You crawl back to that rat hole of a life you got and keep poisoning whatever it is you touch, but you never come near me or mine again. Luke: What's up? What's the matter? Sonny: My baby died. Luke: Oh, man. Jax: I won't be manipulated by you, Chloe. Chloe: You still don't understand. How do think I feel when I walk in here and I see you on the phone, upset, over something that has to do with me? I am afraid of what my illness is doing to us, what -- our relationship is becoming totally about that. I can't even discuss Edward with you without it getting caught up in your search for a drug. Jax: You know, it still feels like emotional blackmail to me. Chloe: It's not. I came in here to tell you how much it hurts me when we argue, and here we are doing it again. Jax: It's only when it's about E.L.Q. Ok, which is business, Chloe. Chloe: It's not for me. It's personal. The Quartermaines are my family. Jax: It's not like I'm out to destroy them, ok? Every one of those family members will be richer when all this is over. Chloe: I'm beginning to think Ned's right. Jax: Look, I am not going after E.L.Q. Because I feel powerless to control your illness, Chloe. That is complete nonsense. Chloe: I know you would not deliberately take your anger out on my family. Jax: I can't believe you'd even consider that. Chloe: I don't know what to think. Maybe you're creating a situation in order to push me away. Jax: What? Chloe: If you just -- if you want me to leave, just tell me. Jax: Where is this coming from all of a sudden? [knock on door] Chloe: Whoo, maybe that's Edward the troll coming to snap at your heels. Jax: Perfect. Helena: Resist the temptation to slam the door in my face. Chloe: What are you doing here? Helena: Well, I could hear you two out in the hall. Trouble in paradise? Lucky: I thought I could handle tonight, but I was wrong. Elizabeth: You seemed to enjoy the first part of the evening. Lucky: Yeah. I mean, that was ok. And the toasts. "Welcome home. :. The "Friends forever. :. Forever's locked in a room. Don't you get it? Part of me is still locked inside that space. I'm on one side of the barrier. You and Nikolas and Emily are on the other. Elizabeth: But we're still connected, lucky. I never stopped thinking about you. I never felt like we were apart. Lucky: But we were apart. Elizabeth: I wanted this night to happen because that dinner last year was the beginning to a beautiful dream -- and an ending, all in one night -- for the four of us. I went to sleep that night, and I was so happy. And then this dream and these sirens woke me up, and I was scared, so I called you just to be reassured. I got a recorded message saying that your phone was out of service. So I knew I had to go find you just to make sure everything was ok. I saw the glow in the sky even before I knew it was a fire. And when I got to your place, it was a torch. And you were inside, and then you were gone. Tonight was about celebrating that you're alive and the four of us are together. Lucky: Then why did you toast us "More than friends forever"? Elizabeth: Because that's what we said last time. And I want it to be true. I want to believe that some loves never die, even when people change. Isn't that possible? Lucky: I don't know. Laura: Elizabeth. Lucky. Hi. It's good to see you. Lucky: You set this up, didn't you? Helena: I just need a few minutes of your time. Chloe: We're not interested. Helena: I believe Mr. Jacks will be. Jax: Stop playing games. Helena: I assure you, it is no game. Chloe: That's it. I'm going for a walk. Jax: Chloe, wait. Chloe: No, I cannot be in the same room with that woman. Helena: Is she always that touchy, or is irritability a sign of her illness? Jax: Get to the point. Helena: Well, I'm very concerned about Chloe's condition. I understand that the radiation treatments were less than successful. Jax: You know, you never cease to amaze me, Helena. What'd you do, break into the medical cabinet? Helena: Oh, now, stop acting like an emotional little schoolboy and listen to me. Jax: If you knew what was good for you, you'd leave now. Helena: Well -- is the sophisticated corporate raider actually threatening violence? Jax: You show your face around here again, you'll find out. Helena: Is it possible that you are capable of murder? Jax: Murdering you would be a pleasure. Helena: Well -- I can see that you're in a foul mood at this moment. However, feel free to call me. Anytime. I have a feeling you'll be calling me sooner than you think. Elizabeth: The only thing I set up tonight was dinner. Lucky: Well, this is a little too convenient, don't you think? Laura: Elizabeth did not know I was going to show up here, lucky. I didn't even know myself until just a few minutes ago. I decided to pick up takeout. Lucky: Can't you ever tell the truth? Elizabeth: Oh, that's your answer to everything, isn't it, lucky? Just walk away. You actually believe that I would call your mother and set you up? Lucky: Oh, come on. Tell me you haven't helped my parents track me down in the past. Elizabeth: I have never lied to you, and I'm not about to start now. I have nothing to do with your mother being here tonight. Laura: Lucky, you're angry with me. Don't take it out on Elizabeth. Lucky: I am tired of you guys pretending you know what's best for me. All you really want is for me not to rock the boat, move back home, hang up old posters in my room! Elizabeth: What are you talking about? You haven't lived there in ages. Lucky: That's what she wants! Laura: No, no. Not if it's not right for you. Lucky: I don't want anything to do with you. Elizabeth: How can you be so unkind? Lucky: Like I said, I've changed. Elizabeth: And that justifies everything, including you not believing me when I'm telling you the truth? Then we really don't have anything left. Luke: I don't know what to say, man. What did a.j. Have to do with it? Sonny: A.j. Was -- he was drunk. He started mixing it up with Carly on the Quartermaine stairs, and she fell. Luke: Did he push her? Sonny: She fell, you know. I mean, she lost the baby because of a.j. Luke: Well, then he's responsible. Why don't you kill the worthless bastard? Sonny: That's a good question. I -- I don't want Michael someday to have to ask me about his biological father. I don't want to have to lie to him knowing I got a.j. 'S blood on my hands. Luke: God, I'm sorry, man. To lose a kid is the worst kind of hell. Sonny: But you know something -- it wasn't -- it -- it wasn't like with you and lucky. I never got to hold my son. He didn't even have a name. I mean, you would think it wouldn't hurt this much. It's great you got your son back. Carly: Good night, Michael. Love you. Carly: Gone. It's all gone. Lucky: I'm sorry. I was way off base. You're the most honest person I know. My problems with my parents don't involve you. I don't want you getting caught in the middle. Elizabeth: I won't. Lucky: See, it's already happening. That's just another reason I want you to stay away. I don't want to hurt you again. Elizabeth: But you didn't mean to. Lucky: But I already did. And that is so wrong, Elizabeth. Take care of yourself. Laura: I'm sorry. I really am. As soon as I saw the two of you together, I should've just walked away. Elizabeth: No, not at all. The evening wasn't a success even before you got here. We were having dinner with Emily and Nikolas, and things were going great. And then all of a sudden, lucky couldn't handle it. He said things have changed and that he can't be with us. I'm starting to think I'm really stupid, hanging on to how happy we used to be. You know, I mean, he said it was over. Maybe it really is. Laura: No. No, I don't think so because it's obvious that he still has a lot of feelings for you. I mean, you saw how he reacted when he thought he hurt you. Elizabeth: Every time I see him, I am just so grateful that he's alive and safe. I mean, I get angry and scared, but he means the world to me. Laura: I'm glad. Thank you. You hang in there, ok? Emily: Where's lucky? Elizabeth: He's gone. Nikolas: Well, I'll try to find him. Elizabeth: He doesn't want to see us. Nikolas: Well, I want to see him. Emily: You know what? You know what I don't understand about lucky? One minute he's all smiles, you know? And then the next minute he just runs out the door. I don't get it. Elizabeth: It's not you, Emily. He was having a good time with you and Nikolas, and I had to go and wreck it. Emily: No. Elizabeth, you said what was in your heart. Elizabeth: That's the problem. Anything I say or do pushes him away. I don't want to face it, but maybe lucky doesn't love me anymore. Lucky: I guess you just happened to be here. Luke: What? Lucky: You missed the ambush. Or is this the ambush, the sequel? Luke: I'm sorry, cowboy. I haven't got any idea what you're talking about. Lucky: Oh, come on. Save the surprised look. Mom already tried that one. It didn't work. Don't you two ever get tired of lying and playing games? Sonny: Carly? Carly? Sonny: You -- you shouldn't come in here alone. You ok? Carly: Where is it? Sonny: Come on. I'll take you downstairs. Carly: No. I'm not going to leave until you bring it back. Sonny: I can't. Carly: What do you mean, you can't? The all-powerful sonny Corinthos -- you can't bring back the stuff you took out of here? That chair that mike bought me? It's gone. I put it by the window so we could look out the window while I fed him. Sonny: I know, Carly. I can't -- I can't -- Carly: Let's -- sonny: I can't -- Carly: Where'd it go? The little outfit that I bought him -- you remember? The little homecoming outfit, that little white jump suit? You remember that day that I bought that? Sonny: Yeah. Carly: It's gone. How could you? Am I -- am I supposed to pretend that there was no baby? Is that what you're doing? Carly: You just toss it out, huh? Furniture, people -- you don't want it. It's history. Sonny: I thought it -- I thought it would be easier for you if you didn't have to be reminded. Carly: You mean easier for you. Sonny: Maybe. Carly: You didn't bring one damn thing into this room -- not a crib, not a blanket, nothing. Haul it out. Have somebody pick it up and haul it out, cut your losses. You've already moved on, haven't you? Sonny: No, I haven't. That baby was part of me. He still is. Carly: Then go and get Johnny, and you tell him to bring that stuff back here. And we will grieve for our son together. Sonny: We cannot make this into some kind of shrine. We got to hold on to him inside, in our hearts -- Carly: Please, just for a little -- just for little -- sonny: I can't -- I can't -- I can't -- I can't get it back, Carly. I gave it to a children's shelter, and -- you know -- for a baby who needs those things. Carly: I need it! I need it! Those are our baby's things! They're his things! They're supposed to be waiting here for him. How could you? How could you? How could you? Luke: You know what? I don't need this. Lucky: You think I don't know you were waiting for me? Luke: Hey, I ain't waiting for anybody, cowboy. Everything is not about you. Lucky: Why is it so hard for you and mom to admit that you knew where I was going to be today and you were just waiting for the right opportunity to pounce? Luke: All right. Now, hold on. Believe me, I'm real, real happy you're alive and that you're home, but I am not living my life waiting to pounce on you. I have better things to do. Lucky: I told you to stay away. Luke: And I have. Lucky: That's bull. You'll be shoving your way into my life no matter what I say. Luke: You know what I think? I think you want me to. I think underneath all this anger and self-involvement, you really want me to hang in. Nikolas: Lucky? Why'd you leave so fast? Lucky: Family problems. I can't seem to get away from them today. Nikolas: Well, I'll wait by the boats till you're done. Lucky: No, stay, stay. I need somebody I can trust. Chloe: Is the coast clear? Jax: Yeah. I threw her out as soon as you left. Chloe: Helena's a little more than I could handle right now. Jax: I understand. Chloe: You were right. It was emotional blackmail. I don't blame you for being angry. Jax: I hate fighting with you, you know? Chloe: When I was out walking, I was thinking that you and Edward locking horns is the old territorial imperative. It's just a guy thing. Lila doesn't get involved, and neither will I. Well, I will try not to. Jax: And I promise that I'm not out to get Edward personally. Chloe: I know. Jax: It's -- Jax and Chloe: Strictly business. Jax: Right. Chloe: I can't lose you. Jax: You won't. When I found you, I fell in love again. I'll never let you go. Singer: For a shield from the storm for a friend for a love to keep me safe and warm I turn to you for the strength to be strong for the will to carry on for everything you do for everything that's true I turn to you, yeah when I lose the will to win I just reach for you and I can reach the sky again Emily: Elizabeth, lucky loves you. I know by the way he looks at you. Elizabeth: I'm trying to look at things the way they are, not the way I want them to be. Emily: You know, I really think that you're talking yourself into something here. And it's wrong. I can't figure lucky out sometimes, either, but I know that you're still in his heart. And things will be different once he gets his head together, you know? He'll come back to you because he can't stay away. I know that. Elizabeth: If I believed that, I could wait forever. Emily: Well, then, believe it. The only thing is, is that it may get worse before it gets any better, you know? Elizabeth: Nothing could be worse than life without him. Lucky: Did you see Elizabeth? Nikolas: Yeah, she's ok. Emily's with her. Lucky: You know, let's get out of here. Luke: You're going to run away? You're paranoid, cowboy. We were through with all of this nonsense, all of it. And now we're back at square one. What changed? Lucky: Well, I finally wised up. Luke: Oh. Well, my guess is you had a whole lot of help getting there. Think about it. Nikolas. Nikolas: Your old man, he's -- he's different. Lucky: Yeah. It was everything I could do not to punch him out today. Nikolas: Yeah, well, there's always next time. Lucky: Right, right. Look, Nikolas, I'm sorry about tonight. Nikolas: I'm just glad we didn't buy the friendship rings. Lucky: It's not that I don't care. Nikolas: No. You -- you don't need to explain, all right? Lucky: I hurt Elizabeth. Nikolas: Well, she loves you, lucky. Lucky: I need her to back off. But she can't hear it from me. Nikolas: You don't know how it was for her when you were gone. Lucky: You're wrong. I do, Nikolas. She trusts you like I trust you. Do you think maybe you could tell her that she has to leave me alone? Jax: Murdering you would be a pleasure. [Chloe gasps] Jax: Hey. What is it? Chloe: It was another dream. Jax: Do you remember what it was about? Chloe: Someone was threatening me. Jax: Who? Chloe: I don't know. It's gone. Jax: It's all right. Nothing's going to happen to you. You're safe with me. It's ok. Bobbie: There's no way we can fly out of here tonight? Man: There's a fog. Bobbie: Hmm. Man: And I need to make out a flight plan. Roy: Well, it's only one more night. We'll be cool. So, this will get us to the air strip ok. And we'll be there tomorrow waiting for you half an hour after the sun goes down. Man: One more thing -- this job is going to require a special handling charge. Roy: You know, I thought there might be something like that in it, so I sort of planned for that. This ought to cover the handling charge. And here you have half our fare, and we'll settle up when we get to port Charles. Man: Fair enough. Roy: Great. Man: See you tomorrow. Roy: Yeah. Bobbie: So, what's left of your winnings? Roy: Well, let's see. We have here enough for a couple burgers and a room if we can find a place to stay. Bobbie: There was a sign over the bar that said they rent the rooms out upstairs. Roy: Here? Bobbie: Yeah. Roy: Yeah? Bobbie: So, if it's got running water and a mattress big enough for two, I would be in heaven. Roy: Well, you should negotiate with the barkeep because he'll probably give you the honeymoon suite. Bobbie: Oh, wow. Sold. Thank you. We can see the beach from the room upstairs. Roy: Whoa! Bobbie: That's a room with a view. Roy: We may have to stay infinitely. Bobbie: 24 hours longer is long enough for me. Roy: Yeah. You'd choose port Charles over this tropical island paradise? Bobbie: In a heartbeat. Roy: What's the big attraction for upstate new York? Bobbie: Hannah, Lucas, Carly, Michael, my new grandchild, and the start of a whole new life for us. Roy: Damn, that's a good answer. Carly: I'm sorry. I didn't mean that, you know. I know you miss the baby, too. Do you think we could start over? [Glass breaks] >> On the next "General hospital:. -- Edward: Expect a full-scale retaliation. Elizabeth: So, did you find lucky after you left? Nikolas: Yeah, I did. Lucky: I'm leaving port Charles, soon. Mike: Why don't u just do the world a favor, a.j. -- drive your car into another tree. |
