General Hospital Transcript Monday 5/8/00

Provided by Laura

Laura: Do you believe that Lucky's on his way home?

Luke: Oh, no, I -- that was a bad choice of words. It's just too many miles, you know? Too -- too much bad news. No, it -- it's just that if I knew anything at all, I would tell you. You know that.

Laura: So you're just guessing, then, that he's on his way home. It's not like somebody saw him -- Luke: No, nobody's seen him, darling. We taught him to cover his tracks too well.

Laura: No sign?

Luke: No, not -- I talked to about 50 people in 16 different cities. Nothing.

Laura: So when you say that we should let him come to us --

Luke: Well, again, that's just I'm tired. That's a bad choice of words. What I mean is if you do the legwork and it doesn't pay off, then you got to change your strategy. And I don't know -- maybe we're supposed to give the kid room.

Laura: But I talked to Elizabeth, and she hasn't heard from him.

Luke: But she will. I'm sure she will -- if we give it time.

Nikolas: Lesley Lu says lucky visited her from heaven. How, on Aladdin's carpet?

Elizabeth, she's 5.

Elizabeth: It's true, Nikolas. She has seen him.

Nikolas: Well, how can you know that?

Elizabeth: I just do. I could tell.

Nikolas: Well, did she say where he is?

Elizabeth: I didn't ask.

Nikolas: Why not?

Elizabeth: Because if lucky wants me to know where he is, then he would've told me himself.

Nikolas: You can't be sure of that until we talk to him.

Elizabeth: I gave lulu my subway token, told her to give it to lucky the next time she sees him. I'm sure I'll find it around the neck of one of her favorite bears.

Nikolas: If you're worried about it, I can go get it.

Elizabeth: No, no.

Nikolas: Well, I mean, that token means everything to you.

Elizabeth: How much could it possibly mean if lucky doesn't even want to see me?

Lucky: Elizabeth said she loved me? So you told her I come see you? Did you tell anybody else? It's important, Lu. You can't tell mom or dad or grandma. It's our secret, remember? Just between you and me, right?

Lesley Lu: And Elizabeth.

Lucky: You know how much I love you? Now, go in before grandma misses you.

Lesley Lu: Can you come back and see me again?

Lucky: I promise, sweetie.

[“Sleeping beauty” Theme plays]

Helena: It's not going to work. It's not going to work.

Jax: Chloe? Chloe! Chloe. Hey.

Chloe: Oh.

Jax: You having another dream?

Chloe: Jax -- it's not going to work.

Bobbie: So when this is over, let's go to Hawaii.

Roy: Where we were going to go on our honeymoon.

Bobbie: Yeah.

You know, I've never been there.

Roy: You're kidding?

Bobbie: I had offers, but -- but I'd think about you and me holding hands and -- you remember that picture in the brochure?

I'd think about us holding hands and walking on the beach and watching the sun go down and -- couldn't go without you.

Roy: So now you won't have to.

Sonny: Like I said, it stands for my promise to take care of you, Michael, and the baby.

Carly: When you said marriage -- sonny: Yeah?

Carly: That we should get married for the baby -- I didn't imagine anything like this.

Sonny: Well, if you don't like it, I can take it back.

Carly: No.

It's perfect, you know?

You know it is, too.

Probably even fits.

You sneak up into my room while I was asleep and measure my finger?

Sonny: You'll never know till you try it on.

Carly: I can't.

Sonny: Why?

Carly: Because a ring means that you love me.

And you don't any more than I love you.

Sonny: You want me on my knees?

Carly: No.

That's the point.

You and I, we don't have that.

Sonny: What you had with Jason?

Carly: What does Jason have to do with anything?

Sonny: Well, you wore his rings.

Carly: Yeah, well, you know why.

Because Jason bought me these rings because he didn't want a.

J.

To know that I screwed up, you know, that I got mugged.

Sonny: Oh, a.

J.

, right.

You didn't love him, but you wore his rings.

Carly: Yeah, but that was totally different.

A.

J.

-- the whole thing was a lie -- the marriage and the rings and everything.

Is that what you want, sonny?

Because I thought that you wanted the truth.

Sonny: Well, tell me.

You say this is about love -- that you don't love me and I don't love you.

But I say it's about Jason.

Carly: Well, you know how I feel.

Sonny: Well, I'm not talking about feelings.

I'm talking about, you know, rings.

Carly: Well, these are -- this is all I have left of him.

You want to take that?

Sonny: I don't want to take anything.

I want to give you something.

Carly: When I look at these rings -- sonny: Mm-hmm?

Carly: I know he's gone.

You've told me that enough times.

But he's still out there, you know?

He still thinks that I'm worth it.

And I don't want to argue with you about it.

I say Jason loves me.

You say he doesn't.

Whatever it is -- when somebody looks at you, and they see everything.

They see all of who you are -- how rotten you are -- and they don't look away.

Sonny: I know.

Carly: And that's not going to change.

Even if I never see him again.

So, I mean, I can marry you and we can make a family, but I don't want to live a lie, you know?

I -- I can't wear your ring.

Nikolas: Don't take what Lucky's doing personally.

Ok?

He punched his father and ran away from his mother.

Something's wrong.

I'd ask lulu, but -- Elizabeth: No, don't.

She'd get upset.

Nikolas: Yeah, besides, lucky obviously needs to see her.

Elizabeth: I just wish I knew what he was feeling.

Nikolas: Lucky obviously doesn't want anyone else to know he's here.

Elizabeth: You know, I saw Laura today.

She's hurting so much, and I felt so guilty for not telling her.

But maybe if he sees that we're keeping his secret -- Nikolas: Lucky trusts lulu.

That's a start.

Elizabeth: You're right.

It is.

Thank you.

Nikolas: For what?

Elizabeth: For keeping my hopes up.

I should go.

Nikolas: Yeah, I've got a date with lulu.

And who knows?

Maybe she's seen lucky again.

Laura: Remember when lucky was little -- I think he was only 3 years old.

And he saw a snake on the steps.

I don't even remember where we were.

Luke: Mozambique.

Laura: And then I scooped him up, and you took the snake off for a heart-to-heart.

Luke: Well, like I said, we were trespassing in his neighborhood.

Laura: I'll never forget how he felt, Luke, when I held him.

His ribs -- he was holding his breath.

He was frozen with fear.

And that's how he felt to me when I hugged him in the diner.

He's afraid of something.

I don't know if it's Stefan or Helena.

I don't know, but -- but how can he come out of hiding when they're still out there somewhere?

Luke: Go over this with me again, will you?

Remember that sweet little girl in the diner that was a waitress -- Laura: Katie.

Luke: Katie.

Katie said that cowboy came into the diner with Helena.

They were not unfriendly.

They left together, and then he came back.

Now, does that sound like somebody who is on the run?

Laura: No.

Luke: No.

Helena let him go.

And Katie also said, “He said he was waiting 'for his parents.

'“ Laura: Why?

Luke: Yeah, why?

I mean, just to rearrange my face and then run off and break your heart?

Laura: You think this is about us?

Luke: Well, I'm not sure, but, I mean, if the kid is on some kind of mission -- you know, righting wrongs like last time -- Laura: Mm-hmm?

Luke: Well, the only place he can do that is here.

Laura: You're right.

Well, let him come home.

I can take anything he wants to dish out.

But what if he -- what if he was only in the diner to cut ties with us and now he's halfway around the world somewhere, starting over without us?

Luke: Darling, let's don't jump to that conclusion yet.

Let's just give it a little time.

If he doesn't show up, if he doesn't call, if he makes no attempt at all, then I'll go back out and I'll look again.

I'll look in the unusual places.

I only looked in the usual.

Just give it some time.

And then you say the word and I'll go.

Laura: Thank you, Luke.

Chloe: So, I was sitting on the docks crying, and I -- I could see myself somehow.

I was watching myself from the stairs or something.

And then I heard the music.

And then I started to try to find it.

And then I saw the music box.

Jax: On the stairs?

Chloe: Yeah, the same one.

And I started to reach for it, and then I heard her.

Jax: Who?

Chloe: “It's not going to work.

“ That's what she said.

Jax: Said who?

Chloe: Helena.

And she was laughing at me like she pitied me and -- “It's not going to work.

“ Jax: Wait a minute.

Well, what's not going to work?

Chloe: I don't know.

My eyes, the drugs, the radiation?

I -- I'm going to go blind.

Jax: Chloe -- Chloe, you're not going to go blind, ok?

It was just a dream.

But now you're awake and you can see me, ok?

Just relax.

The dream probably had something to do with the accident.

You saw Helena today, and it reminded you that it didn't work.

She hit you with her car and it didn't work because you're here.

You're here, and you're as good as new.

Chloe: I wish.

Jax: Look, I'm more interested in the music box.

What's it doing in port Charles?

Chloe: I think I know.

Chloe: It's here, haunting me, refusing to go away, giving me headaches.

Jax: The music box?

Chloe: No, this disease, this condition, whatever you want to call it.

The music box is just a symbol, Jax.

Jax: Yeah, but the way you describe it, I mean -- it plays “Sleeping beauty,” A song you didn't recognize.

It's in the jungle, where you've never been.

Has a personality all its own.

Chloe: Yeah, it is stubborn and hateful.

Why did this have to happen, Jax?

Why won't it go away?

Why -- why can't we get rid of this thing?

It's not malignant.

I don't understand why we can't stop it!

Jax: We can, Chloe, and we will.

Just do me a favor.

Chloe: What?

Jax: Stay angry like that.

Laura: If you love something, let it go.

If it doesn't come back -- Luke: Chase it down and beat it with a brick.

Laura: That's your version of it.

Oh, I remember that poster that you had of that in the back room at the disco.

Luke: So, do you agree with me?

Laura: That we should let lucky come to us?

Yes, I think you're right.

Luke: Which is not to say that we do nothing.

As soon as Helena comes up for air, we'll start working on her.

Laura: Ok.

I still haven't told lulu anything because I think she'd just be sitting by the window and waiting.

Luke: How's the baby doing?

Laura: She misses you so much.

Luke: Did Roy take her fishing?

Laura: You don't know?

Roy's gone.

Luke: Gone?

Where?

Laura: He was arrested and taken back to Pentonville.

Luke: What?

Laura: I'm sorry.

I thought you knew.

Luke: Oh, thank you, sonny Corinthos.

Who's his lawyer?

Laura: I don't know.

But I think he's doing all right without one.

I heard that he escaped.

Luke: You got to admire the man's style.

Sonny: I know how you feel about Jason.

I got my own feelings about him.

He's the best friend I ever had.

And I'm not -- you know, this isn't about trying to knock him down.

Carly: And I'm not trying to hurt -- sonny: Did I ask your opinion?

Carly: Knock yourself out.

Sonny: All right.

You got your feelings, whatever.

I got mine.

And I know you're hurt because you know Jason's never coming back.

He's never going to put himself between you, me, Michael, and the child -- I mean our child.

You know it, and it hurts.

And, you know, that takes time.

Carly: It's not about time.

Sonny: I don't -- I don't care how you, you know, feel about Jason.

I -- I can't give you that love, you know?

And I don't -- I don't expect you to love me.

Carly: That's not going to tear you up, knowing that I'm in love with somebody else?

Sonny: No.

Carly: A.

J.

Couldn't take it.

You know, he hated me for it.

Sonny: Well, I'm not a.

J.

Ok, this is how it goes.

When I marry you, I make a commitment to you, you know, to Michael, our family.

And you make a commitment, too.

And you honor that.

To me, our family.

You ever need anything, you come to me.

I'll take care of you.

I'll protect you, I respect you, and you're my wife.

If you think you can do that, I just -- just want you to put this ring on.

It's up to you.

Chloe: I just wanted to strangle Helena today -- hovering over me, pretending like she cared.

Jax: Well, you just hang on to that anger.

It'll help you fight.

Chloe: How?

I don't care about Helena.

I just want to fight the thing in my head.

Jax: Well, I may have an idea.

I got a call today.

Chloe: From the research scientists Jax: Yes.

He says there's a new drug being developed by a European pharmaceutical company, and it targets benign cells.

It slows abnormal growth and sometimes even stops it.

Chloe: Has it been tested?

Jax: No trials yet, but there are a couple cases similar to yours they had positive results with.

Chloe: It's too late.

Tony said if I don't start radiation soon, I'm going to damage my optic nerve.

Jax: Ok, so why not do both?

As long as it doesn't interfere with the radiation.

Chloe: I'll ask Tony if it's ok.

Jax: And I'll see if I can maneuver a place for you in the trials.

That's not pushing it, is it?

Chloe: No, no.

No, you're wonderful.

But saving me is not your responsibility.

That's Tony's job.

I just need you to love me no matter what.

Jax: And if I get caught up in the game, I lose sight of what's important.

Chloe: It's been known to happen.

Jax: Well, it's not a game, Chloe.

You need to understand that.

You also need to understand that we are going to win, ok?

I want you to say it.

Chloe: We're going to win.

Jax: Louder.

Chloe: We're going to win!

Jax: All right.

And anyone that says otherwise, in your dreams or in your life, is the enemy.

Luke: When was Roy busted?

Laura: It was before I got back to port Charles.

There was nothing in the papers.

I don't know what the charges were.

Luke: How did he escape?

Laura: Apparently he was being moved from one prison to the other, there was an accident, and he disappeared.

Luke: Do you know if Bobbie's heard from him?

Laura: I had police in the house asking questions.

I didn't want to know.

Luke: Smart woman.

Laura: Trained by the best.

Luke: I'll nose around and see what I can find out.

I'm going to have to go talk to Corinthos.

I have to help him if I can.

Laura: I know.

I got to go.

Luke: I'll walk you out.

Tell princess I'll come and see her tomorrow.

Laura: Ok.

She'll be sitting on the front porch with her fishing pole.

Bobbie: Are you sure you don't need any help?

Roy: Oh, no.

You cook, I clean up.

Bobbie: Is that a promise?

Roy: That's a promise.

And in case you have forgotten, you're not going anywhere tonight.

Bobbie: Thanks to your clever daughter who invented a nurses' conference for me loud enough for Larkin's spy to overhear.

So they won't miss me till morning.

Roy: So we have a little time.

Bobbie: Yeah, we have more than that.

We're halfway to everything we've ever wanted.

Hannah knows the truth, she still loves you, and we're together.

Roy: Despite all the wrong turns along the way, all the accounts still open.

Bobbie: Not tonight.

Roy: Do you think that the way we are now is the way we would have been if we'd stayed together?

Bobbie: I think it's how we would have wanted it to be.

Were we smart enough or wise enough?

I don't know.

Roy: Yeah.

I was so crazy back then.

I was out of my mind over things I wanted that I didn't have -- a better car, you know, more money, more power.

I don't care about any of that anymore.

Bobbie: This is what I want -- you and me.

Roy: And time.

Here's to lots of time.

Carly: This isn't easy for me, you know?

Sonny: What, letting go of Jason?

Carly: No, just giving up.

I mean, there's this voice in my head that says, “You can do it.

You can get it -- whatever it is -- no matter what.

Always.

“ Sonny: That's not a bad thing.

Carly: Except when it's hopeless.

I know what you're offering.

Sonny: Do you?

Carly: Yeah.

And I can do what you want.

I know how to be loyal.

And I can make a commitment.

Sonny: Good.

Carly: But I'm not -- I'm not ready for a ring yet.

I have to get to that place inside where -- where I really believe, you know, where I know that he's not coming back.

And then -- then I can take off his ring and I can put yours on.

If you can do that for me.

Carly: Thank you.

Sonny: Ok, you know, you -- I think you need time to adjust, so -- just like you said, you know?

Carly: Right.

Right.

Ok.

So I'm going to go upstairs and check on Michael.

And then I'm going to go to bed.

So if you want to talk or anything -- sonny: I'll knock.

Good night.

Carly: Good night.

Chloe: Hey, Tony.

It's me, Chloe.

If you could give me a ring tomorrow, I want to speak with you about trying a new medication along with the low-dose radiation.

So if you could call me when you get in.

Thank you.

Jax: Yes, ma'am.

Chloe: That felt good.

Jax: Well, it should.

You're in charge.

It's your body.

And she keeps smiling at me.

Chloe: That's because she finds you very sexy when you're all motivational.

Jax: You're extremely good motivation.

Chloe: Hey -- promise me something.

Jax: Uh-oh.

Chloe: No.

No, no, no, no, no.

Look at me, look at me.

I want you to promise me that you will tell me if it becomes too much, me leaning on you.

No, seriously.

Because then I won't be afraid to if I know you're going to tell me when to stop.

Jax: Look, Chloe, I'm no boy scout, ok?

I'm your lover.

I need you.

I want you.

But, ok, if I get burned out, I'll take a couple of hours for myself.

But there is no way I'm walking away from this.

Not now, not ever.

Lucky: Remember how I told you the Cassadine-Spencer war is about ready to explode again?

Elizabeth: Mm-hmm.

Lucky: Well, one thing that was drilled into me growing up is what we called having the backpack ready.

It holds, among other things, a significant amount of cash to carry the family through an emergency.

Elizabeth: Oh.

So you think because your dad's gone you need to do this for your family?

Lucky: No.

Dad and mom can take care of themselves and lulu.

I was thinking about you and me, for us.

Elizabeth: I like the sound of me being part of your future.

Lucky: Good, because you're there.

You know, you probably should get going.

You're going to be late for that test.

Elizabeth: I love you.

Elizabeth: Lucky, wherever you are, I'm here and I'm waiting for you.

Nikolas: Lulu, Corky's got my nose.

Whew.

That was so close.

I am so glad that you were here to help me.

And here he goes -- see, now, are you glad I was here to help you?

Because then you could have been a no-nose lulu.

So, remember, anytime you ever need any help, you just call me or Elizabeth, ok?

Whether it's a hungry bear or you just need help.

You just call me.

Laura: Hey.

I can't leave you two alone for a minute.

Lesley Lu: Mommy!

Laura: Hello, sweetheart.

Oh, honey.

Guess who I just saw?

Your daddy.

He came home.

Lesley Lu: Everybody came home.

Laura: Yeah, the whole family's in town.

That's just the way I like it.

You -- would you like it if your big brother read you your story tonight and put you to bed?

Yeah?

Ok.

Nikolas: Absolutely.

I know which one it is, too.

It's the one where the bear eats the princess.

Lesley Lu: Wait.

My bow fell off.

It's over there.

[Knock on door]

Luke: Corinthos -- [knocking]

Luke: It's me.

All right, what the hell happened to Roy DiLucca?

Sonny: It's late.

What are you doing?

Luke: It's later than you think, man.

How long do people got to pay for your mistakes?

Sonny: What do you want, Luke?

Luke: Answers -- from somebody I can trust, somebody who'll tell me the truth.

Did I knock on the wrong door?

Jax: Yeah, it's Jax.

Listen, I'm ready to make my move on Helena.

Bobbie: I don't ever want to move.

Roy: I don't believe you.

I do not.

[music plays]

[Bobbie laughs]

Roy: I thought you might change your mind.

Bobbie: So, where are we?

The disco?

Roy: We're home.

Your son is upstairs asleep.

The dishwasher is clunking in the kitchen.

And as long as we don't wake the neighbors, we can dance all night.

Luke: I come home, my partner's in the tank.

Sonny: And this is my fault, Luke?  I don't know -- Luke: Hey, he was working for you, sonny.  You got the territory, you take responsibility for the risks taken in it.  Roy was no freshman.  He must've been doing something risky.  Or he was set up.  Now, you had to have arranged his escape.  At least you had the decency to do that.  But now his face is on every post office wall from here to Tierra del Fuego.  And he's got a record, man.  The feds will be trigger-happy.  You tell me what's to stop him from getting gunned down.

Sonny: I'm not telling you anything.  I'm handling it.

Luke: Every time you say that, somebody dies, sonny.  Don't handle it.  Do me a favor.  Tell me where he is.  I'll handle it.

Carly: Hey -- where do you get off?

Sonny: Carly, get back upstairs.

Carly: Why don't you go and bother your own family -- that is if any of them still want to see you.

Laura: I was looking at that earlier day, trying to figure out where we went wrong.

Lucky was such a beautiful baby, wasn't he?

Look at him with the chocolate all over his face.

Nikolas: You didn't do anything wrong.

Laura: He hit his father and he ran away from us.

There must be some reason for that.

Nikolas: Helena.

She kidnapped him and locked him up.

You've been through it.

Laura: He could be anywhere out there.

I just -- I just want to know that he's safe.

Nikolas: He's safe.

He's safe.

If he could survive Helena, he's pretty good to get through almost anything.

I'm just sure he's taking some time.

Laura: That's what Luke thinks, too.

So I guess we just stay put and wait for lucky to come to us.

Nikolas: He will.

Laura: Thank you.

You're a good brother and a wonderful son.

You know, I think I should probably call Elizabeth and let her know what happened with Luke.

Nikolas: I'll tell her.

Laura: Ok.

It's got to be pretty hard for her, all the waiting.

She loves lucky so much.

Nikolas: She's fine.

She'll be ok.

Elizabeth: Lucky?

No, lucky, please.

Elizabeth: It's really you.

I have missed you so much.

Lucky, please don't go.

I know a lot has happened.

But I love you.

I love you so much.

>> On the next “General Hospital” --

Juan: You don't have to hide anything from me.

Carly: Get out of our house.

Luke: “Our house”?

Taggert: I know it's none of my business, but Luke Spencer's back in town.

Elizabeth: Please don't run away.

Lucky: I'm not going anywhere.
