Episode #14013 ~ Abigail and Gwen have a major showdown. Allie confides in Claire about her growing feelings for Tripp. Ben apologizes to Claire. Kate breaks up with a bewildered Jake.

Roman: You look nervous. Waiting for a big client?

Jake: No, kate.

Roman: And that makes you nervous.

Jake:Chuckles] She pulled a disappearing act last night, and, uh, I came here thinking that maybe you'd tell me if you'd seen her, but then she called me and told me she'd meet me here.

Roman: So you don't have to be nervous anymore.

Jake: Right, except that when I spoke to her, I don't know, man, something-- she just sounded off. Something about her sounded off.

Kristen as kate: Okay, girl. You have kate's face, voice, clothes, everything to make jake believe that you are his beloved cougar. Now all you have to do is give the performance of your life. Or vivian's gonna make sure that you lose everything.

[Tense music]

Jack: Hi, honey. Is this a good time to talk?

Jennifer: Uh, yes, yes. Uh, it's fine. Everything okay?

Jack: Yeah. Everything's okay, but... I, uh, I made a unilateral decision for the two of us, and I wanna tell you about it.

Jennifer: What kind of decision?

Jack: Gwen was talking about leaving salem, and I persuaded her to move in here instead.

Jennifer: Into our home?

Jack: I didn't want her to go into this pregnancy alone. I hope you're not too thrown by this.

Jennifer: Well, I'm a little surprised and a little taken aback, but it's your home too, and gwen is your daughter. What worries me most is how abigail is gonna feel about this.

Jack: I think abigail's going to understand. Eventually.

Jennifer: I hope you're right.

Jack: She'll dig deep and find the strength to be rational and even gracious about the entire thing.

Jennifer: [Scoffs] Come on, jack. Do you really think that's what's gonna happen?

Jack: Well, that's what I've been trying to tell myself. What do I think is gonna happen? I think she's gonna flip out.

Chad: I know how hard gwen's pregnancy is gonna be on you. I can't tell you what it means to me that you're willing to work on things with me.

Abigail: You know who convinced me I needed to try? Gabi.

Chad: You're kidding.

Abigail: No. She reminded me of all the wonderful things I have going in my life--you and the kids and my family and everything, and I just--I'm not gonna let someone like gwen ruin it all for me.

Chad: Well, she promised she wasn't gonna be in your face anymore, so, well, you can just ignore her.

Abigail: I will try. But it's gonna be a lot harder once the baby is born.

Gwen: Okay, little one.

[Sighs] Thought it was just gonna be you and me, but now we've got your grandfather jack in our corner.

[Groans]

[Gasping] Oh, god. My baby!

[Soft orchestration]

Allie: I mean, being sick or getting hurt seems like it's just a part of life. But you're going to be the one who makes people better.

Tripp: I'm still a first-year med student with a long, hard road ahead of me, all right? And the head resident, dr. Snyder, he's got it in for me.

Allie: Well you're gonna be great, I just know it. You believe me?

Tripp: I know I want to. Allie, I-- uh, dr. Snyder.

[Clears throat]

Snyder: Mr. Johnson, would you tell me what the hell's going on in here?

Claire: Ben, I am telling you that doing something this drastic is a huge mistake. You're just gonna push her further away.

Ben: So you won't do it. You won't help me distract theo for a little while. I thought you were my friend.

Claire: I am your friend, ben, so I will not lie to theo so you can kidnap ciara.

Ben: Fine. Then I guess I'll do this on my own.

Claire: Oh boy, what a mess.

[Knock at door] What are you doing here?

Ben: I owe you an apology.

Jack: Gwen was ready to leave town and raise the baby alone in south philly. What was I supposed to do?

Jennifer: Honey, I get it. I do, it's just--

Jack: It's just doing this is gonna alienate abigail all the more. Jennifer, I just didn't feel like I had a choice. Gwen has no one but me.

Jennifer: Well, that's because of the way she's lived her life.

Jack: Right. But she's carrying my grandchild. And she's trying to be a better person.

Jennifer: I understand, I do.

Jack: So do you have any advice?

Jennifer: You should be the one to break it to abigail. And you should do it before gwen moves in.

Jack: She's moving in today.

Jennifer: Well then, you better do it now.

Chad: I was surprised that gabi picked up your phone.

Abigail: Well, I wasn't gonna answer your call, but she said I was being ridiculous.

Chad: Why were you with her? The two of you plotting against gwen again?

Abigail: No. Gabi and I are no longer working together.

Chad: But you were talking to her about us?

Abigail: I didn't feel like I had anyone else to talk to.

Chad: Well, you could have gone to therapy with me today and talked about it.

Abigail: I wanted to talk to someone who hates gwen as much as I do, okay? I mean, I wanted to talk to someone who I felt like understood my side of this.

Chad: I do understand your side of this.

Abigail: Really? 'Cause just yesterday, you were defending gwen.

Chad: I wasn't defending-- all I said was, I don't think she deliberately got pregnant to cause trouble. She says that since she found out, she sees things differently.

Abigail: What does that even mean? You know--I don't know. It doesn't matter. Whatever gwen's got in her head now, I'm just gonna do what you said.

Chad: Ignore her.

Abigail: I am going to pretend like gwen and the baby do not exist.

Gwen: Okay, breathe.

[Exhales] Oh, that's better. Maybe it was just a one-time thing. Ah! No. Definitely not just a one-time thing. Hang in there, my darling. Mommy's gonna go to the hospital. Gonna go to the hospital.

[ Heavy breathing ]

Tripp: Allie, this is dr. Snyder, the head resident, and dr. Snyder, this is allie horton. She brought her baby in because he is running a fever. Um, that's him. Uh, his name is henry. Turns out he has an ear infection. These are my notes.

Snyder: You examined him by yourself?

Tripp: Uh, no, no. Dr. Johnson supervised. I was just saying goodbye to allie.

Snyder: I see. Well, I'm sure you'd like to get henry home and on his medication.

Allie: Right.

Snyder: I'd like a word with you in private.

Tripp: Sure thing.

[Tense music]

Snyder: Mr. Johnson, I know that your stepmother's chief of staff here, but I hope you know that doesn't mean you get special treatment.

Tripp: I do know that, dr. Snyder. I want to be treated like everybody else in my class.

Snyder: Good. Because what I walked in on just now was not only unprofessional, it was a breach of ethics.

Tripp: You're absolutely right, but like I said, allie's a friend of mine, and her son is my nephew.

Snyder: Just don't let it happen again.

Tripp: Yes, sir.

Ben: These are for you. Claire, I'm sorry for being such a jerk to you. I never should have yelled at you like that.

Claire: Ben, I get it. You were just trying to stop ciara from leaving town. Did you?

Ben: Kidnap her? No. Even though I had every intention of doing so until I got to the hospital and I saw her. I couldn't do it. I couldn't go through with it after everything that she's been through. Yeah. I had to let her go.

Claire: So she and theo have left for south africa.

[Somber music]

It's okay.

Jake: Hey. Come here. I've been so worried about you. All right, what's going on? I thought you were as psyched to go on this trip as I was, and then, what, you don't show? Is there some sort of emergency?

Kristen as kate: Actually, uh, yes. I had kind of a crisis of the heart.

Jake: What does that mean?

Kristen as kate: It means that I think we need to end this right now.

Abigail: So could we please talk about something unrelated to the person I'm-I'm trying to pretend does not exist?

Chad: Sure. I saw jake a little while ago. He and, uh, he and kate were supposed to go on some trip last night. She ghosted him.

Abigail: What? How?

Chad: He got one short text from herhe you haven't see her, have you?

Abigail: No, no. I mean, what do you think's going on?

Chad: I don't know. She finally came to her senses.

Jack: Hey.

Abigail: Dad, hi.

Jack: I'm sorry to interrupt. Harold let me in.

Abigail: No, it's okay. I'm actually really glad you're here. I'm sorry I've been ignoring your texts. I don't want this thing with gwen to come between us.

Jack: I would never side with gwen against you. Not ever.

Abigail: Thank you.

Jack: But I do have news on that front. I asked her to move in with me, and she's agreed.

Snyder: Why don't you go on your break? Be back in time for grand rounds.

Tripp: Thanks. I will.

Gwen: Doctor, please, you have to help me. I'm pregnant, and I think there's something wrong with my baby. Is now a good time for a flare-up?

Claire: Hey. Hey, listen to me, okay? This--this isn't the end. Ciara is going to get her memory back, and when she does, she's gonna come back to you.

Ben: She's just so far away now, I feel like I might have lost her for good. Maybe I should have tried harder to get through to her.

Claire: No, pushing her right now would have just made her hate you.

Ben: What, more than she already does?

Claire: I am telling you, ben, letting her go was the right thing to do.

Ben: Claire, my whole life has been all about her for so long, I don't even know what the hell I'm supposed to do anymore. I don't know how I'm supposed to get through my days.

[Doorknob rattles]

Allie: Oh, uh, sorry. I didn't know you were here.

Ben: It's okay. I was--I was just leaving.

Claire: Call me anytime.

Ben: Thank you. Bye, allie. Bye, henry.

Allie: He's in bad shape.

Claire: You would be too if you'd just had your heart broken into a million pieces.

Jake: Is this about gabi? Are you still angry that i told you I was jealous she's dating philip?

Kristen as kate: Yes. Yes, exactly. I am, and honestly, jake, that was a really stupid, painful thing to say to me.

Jake: Okay, I-- I get it. You're right, I was an idiot. But I also told you I am completely committed to you. So come on, let's-- let's book another flight. We can leave today.

Kristen as kate: I can't do that. I'd be thinking the whole time about whether you're thinking about gabi.

Jake: I just-- I just told you, I'm--

Kristen as kate: [Scoffs] Doesn't matter what you tell me. I mean, the truth is, when a woman of my age is dating a man of your age, I mean, we know it's not gonna last forever, and frankly, I don't want to wait around to be dumped.

Jake: That's not gonna happen.

Kristen as kate: It is happening, right now. Because I've made that decision. This is ending, and there is nothing you can say to change my mind.

Abigail: Gwen is moving in with you? Why?

Jack: She's pregnant and alone.

Abigail: Well, she wouldn't be if she hadn't tricked a married man into sleeping with her.

Jack: That's right. That's right, but she doesn't have a job. She's totally unprepared to be a mother. She needs support from somewhere.

Abigail: She planned this whole thing just to leech off of you.

Jack: It was my idea.

Abigail: Are you kidding?

Jack: She said that she's gonna leave town and go back to philadelphia.

Chad: What? She's leaving town?

Jack: She said doesn't want to cause any more problems for you.

Abigail: So you convinced her to stick around here and keep screwing things up.

Jack: She's my daughter, and she's carrying my grandchild.

Abigail: Does mom know this?

Jack: Yes. She's not pleased. She's not thrilled. But she understands. I hope, in time, maybe you can too.

Abigail: You know, I'm-- I'm trying to get past all this. I'm trying to forget about gwen, focus on my life, and you make it impossible. I can't even go and visit my parents without having to face her.

Jack: We're gonna arrange things so that you can come, and she won't be there.

Abigail: You don't care. You don't care about how I feel, so just go ahead and do what you want.

[Tense music]

Gwen: So, I thought that the first cramp was just a fluke, but then it happened again. So looked online, and I saw that there could be this thing called um, braxton hicks or something-- contractions, where it's like early labor, but it doesn't mean anything. That's what this is. Do you think that that's what this is? You're done? Is everything all right?

Snyder: Ms. Rizczech, I'm very sorry.

Gwen: No. No, don't say that to me.

Snyder: I wish I didn't have to, but, uh, there's no heartbeat.

Gwen: God. No, this can't be happening.

[Suspenseful music]

It's my 5:52 woke-up-like-this migraine medicine.

Allie: I can't believe ciara. She really went to south africa with theo?

Claire: Yeah. Ben is a wreck.

Allie: I could tell.

Claire: So what brought you by?

Allie: Well, I had some time to kill because henry's prescription needs to be filled. He has an ear infection. His temperature this morning was 103.

Claire: What? That's high!

Claire: You must have been so scared.

Allie: I was. I mean, I didn't even call his pediatrician. I just rushed him right to the hospital. Luckily, I ran into aunt kayla and tripp there, so.

Claire: Oh yeah?

Allie: Yeah. And aunt kayla actually let tripp examine him, and he was the one who said he had an ear infection, and then she said he was right, so.

Claire: Was he good with the baby?

Allie: Yeah, he was good with the baby. He was great. He was like a real doctor. He had the white coat and everything. It was pretty cute.

Claire: You mean he was pretty cute?

Allie: Knock it off, claire, okay? Knock it off.

Claire: I asked you the other day if you liked him, and you never answered me. You do, don't you?

Tripp: Hey, ben.

Ben: Hey.

Tripp: How's ciara doing?

Ben: She was just released from the hospital this morning.

Tripp: That's great.

Ben: Yeah. Except for that she just went from the hospital straight to the airport. She's headed to johannesburg with theo.

Tripp: Wait, what about you two?

Ben: She wants nothing to do with me, man. She's known theo her whole life.

Tripp: Claire told me she had post-traumatic amnesia.

Ben: Yeah. She's lost everything between the motorcycle accident and waking up in the hospital. That's all of her and me.

Tripp: Man. Some of those memories should have come back to her by now. I mean, her brain stored those memories.

Ben: Well, it hasn't happened yet.

Tripp: Look, I--I know we don't have the greatest history, you and I, but I want you to know that I'm really sorry. I know you guys loved each other.

Ben: Thank you, man. We did. You know, you really look like a doctor in that coat.

Tripp: No, I'm just a first-year med student. I'm starting to interact with patients, though. I actually treated allie's son today.

Ben: Henry? Is he okay?

Tripp: Yeah, yeah. He's just go an ear infection. He'll be miserable for a couple days, but then he'll be fine. It didn't stop me from freaking out a little bit, though, when I was checking him over.

Ben: Oh, yeah, I bet.

Tripp: Yeah, I just found out he's my nephew.

Ben: Your brother, he was the guy who--

Tripp: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and somebody made him pay.

Ben: I'm sorry, man. I know it's probably tough on you.

Tripp: I'm gonna be there for henry as much as I can.

Ben: Allie deserves it. She deserves somebody better than him. She's a really nice girl.

Tripp: Yeah, she is. Yeah. She's a really good mom to henry.

Ben: How about that smile on your face when I said her name? What's going on with you two?

Abigail: Oh, come on. Mom, no, you cannot seriously be okay with gwen just moving into your house. She's the reason grandma is dead.

Jennifer: Your father doesn't believe that.

Abigail: Yeah, because she plays him like a poker hand from a stacked deck. God, I just wish you were here and you could help him see that.

Jennifer: Abigail, you have to listen to me. Put yourself in your father's place. Think about how you'll feel if someday thomas or charlotte do something that-- that you disapprove of. Would you turn your back on them?

Abigail: No.

Jennifer: Your dad wants a chance to be a father to gwen. The kind of father that he would have been if he'd known about her. You and I have to give him that chance.

Abigail: What if she ends up hurting him?

Jennifer: Your dad knows how to take care of himself. I think it would mean the world to your father if you could just be civil to gwen.

Abigail: You know, I would do almost anything for you, really, but civil? After everything gwen has done to me in my life? Uh-uh. No. I don't think I can do that.

Jack: I think maybe I should go up and talk to her.

Chad: Yeah, I'd just-- I'd give it a few minutes. Let her cool off. Trust me.

Jack: I did not want to throw this at her.

Chad: Well, uh, for what it's worth, I appreciate what you're doing. I mean, I want to be involved with the baby, but I don't know how much I can be. Abby hates the idea. Gwen doesn't love it. But we will figure something out. At least financially.

Jack: Good, good.

Chad: I'm glad you asked gwen to stay here. At least that way I know that she and the baby will be safe, protected.

Gwen: I don't understand. Did I do something wrong? Is this my fault?

Snyder: Ms. Rizczech.

Gwen: I only learned that I was pregnant just yesterday.

Snyder: You had periods?

Gwen: Well, it wasn't very regular, but yes, so I-- I didn't get checkups or anything. I didn't take the vitamins. But dr. Kayla just did a sonogram of me, and she said that the baby was a good size and that it had a strong heartbeat.

Snyder: Okay, well, unfortunately, miscarriages can happen out of the blue and for a variety of reasons, but you mustn't blame yourself. Some things just aren't meant to be.

Gwen: Well, thank you. Thank you. That's very comforting. Thanks for letting me know my baby didn't even stand a chance.

Snyder: I'm sorry. I'm--I'll leave you alone. A nurse will come by and schedule a procedure.

Gwen: Procedure?

Snyder: It's called a d&C. We need to clear the uterine lining. If we don't do that--

Gwen: Okay, I get it. I get it. Can you please just go? Can you just leave me alone now, please? Wait. Were you able to see if it was a boy or a girl?

Snyder: Yeah. It was a girl.

[Somber music]

Gwen: A girl. Oh my god, my poor girl. You'd never want leftover onion residue

Allie: Okay, you're right.

Claire: I knew it!

Allie: Yeah. Yeah. It's just, tripp has been coming around a lot because, you know, henry's his nephew, and I've just seen what a sweet guy he is. And today, I was so relieved when he figured out what was wrong with henry, I--I grabbed his hand. I haven't felt this way about a guy in a long time.

Claire: What way?

Allie: Like I wanted to kiss him.

Claire: Did you?

Allie: I couldn't 'cause his boss walked in.

Claire: Well, there's always next time.

Allie: I don't know.

Claire: What do you mean?

Allie: Look at how me and tripp met. You know, look at everything that happened afterward.

Claire: Allie, I wish that you'd never seen charlie's face. I wish I hadn't, either. But there is no way that he can hurt either of us again. So we need to shut the door on those memories.

Allie: It's one thing to shut the door, but it is a different thing to open it to somebody new.

Tripp: Nothing's going on between allie and me, okay? Well, maybe there is. I don't know. I could just be imagining it. You know, I liked her ever since the first time I saw her, but then everything just went haywire.

Ben: Well, I didn't think I had a snowball's chance in hell with ciara, but I was wrong. So if you really do feel that way about allie, don't give up. If there's one thing I've learned these past couple years, man--nothing is impossible when it comes to love.

Jake: I can't believe you're doing this to me. Doesn't make sense.

Kristen as kate: But of course it does--you're in love with another woman. Why would I put up with that?

Jake: I am not in love.

Kristen as kate: Why would i put up with people whispering behind my back? That's pathetic.

Jake: What's it about, kate? The age difference?

Kristen as kate: Yeah. Yeah, it is. You know, I've--I have a problem with that. There's just something wrong about it. You know, I have a son your age.

Jake: So what? You said it doesn't matter.

Kristen as kate: Well, I was lying. I was lying to you, and I was lying to myself. Because things like that matter to me, and you need to just accept that and move on. Now I'm going to the house to pack.

Jake: What? You're moving out? Today?

Kristen as kate: Yeah, and I'm resigning from dimera. No sense prolonging the agony.

Jake: No, no, no, wait. There's something more going on. What are you not telling me?

Jack: You're glad that i asked gwen not to leave town?

Chad: Yeah, well, trust me, it'd be a lot easier on my marriage if gwen and the baby weren't around. I--I mean, abby and I were just starting to make an uneasy peace agreement, and this is--this is definitely gonna derail that.

Jack: I was afraid of that.

Chad: But I am glad that the baby will be here. At least that way, I won't have to worry whether or not gwen's being a good mother. You'll be here.

Jack: I'm telling you, she's--she's different already. She told me how much she loves the baby.

Chad: I hope that feeling continues.

Jack: I'll keep an eye on her and the baby. You stay focused on abigail and the kids.

Chad: I will. I just hope abby can come to terms with all of this. She's so filled with anger right now. I mean, rightfully so.

Jack: I know, I know.

Chad: It scares me. I just don't--I don't think it's gonna take much more to push abby over the edge.

Abigail: I love you too, mom. Okay, just come home soon, please. Bye.

[Knock at door] What the hell are you doing here?

Gwen: I was looking for chad. Harold said that he might be up here.

Abigail: He's sleeping in a guest room, thanks to you. But he's downstairs now.

Gwen: Oh. Sorry to bother you.

Abigail: What do you want with him? Is this about your precious baby?

Gwen: Yes, it is. And actually, I-- I should probably tell you.

Abigail: My dad already gave me the good news. You're moving in with him.

Gwen: No, that's not--

Abigail: You're such a parasite. Do you know that? You use everyone around you until you get what you want-- my dad, chad, and now this little baby. This child is nothing but a meal ticket for you.

Gwen: Oh, you shut the hell up. I've got moderate to severe plaque psoriasis.

Kristen as kate: Let me go.

Jake: Not until you tell me what's going on. Did gabi get to you? Huh?

Roman: Everything okay here?

Kristen as kate: No. Just broke it off with jake, and now he's acting like a neanderthal.

Roman: Jake, let go of her.

Jake: This doesn't concern you.

Roman: Let go of her.

Jake: Roman, this doesn't concern you.

Kristen as kate: That's a nice way to talk to the father of my child.

Roman: Children.

Kristen as kate: I didn't mean it literally, okay? And you ought to listen to him because he'll break you in half. You know, maybe that's the kind of man I should be with.

Jake: Oh. Go ahead. Something tells me I'm not getting the whole story here. And I'm not gonna stop until I find out the rest.

[Tense music]

Jack: Well, I-- I'd better get going. Gwen's gonna show up at that house any minute.

Chad: Can you do me a favor?

Jack: Sure.

Chad: Can you keep me posted on how the baby's doing? I'd really appreciate it.

Jack: Of course.

Chad: And if you could just keep it between us.

Jack: Abigail's not herself. I just hope that you can please try to understand where she's coming from.

Chad: Yeah, I do. When I thought charlotte was stefan's, I went nuts. I did things that I'll--I'll regret for the rest of my life.

Gwen: You listen to me.

Abigail: I don't wanna hear a word out of your mouth. First, you stole my husband, and now you're trying to steal my dad.

Gwen: I told him that I was leaving town.

Abigail: You only said that because you knew how he would react, and he played right into your hands. My god, you just--you love what this is gonna do to me.

Gwen: You have no idea about how I feel.

Abigail: You do know that it's not gonna work out for you here, right? So if you are smart, you will do what you said, and you will leave town. 'Cause nobody here cares about you or your damn baby.

Gwen: How could you say that about my baby? She didn't do anything to you.

Abigail: No, but you sure did. That baby was an accident. Conceived out of your need to destroy me. Wow. You know, really, I feel bad for it. Because you are gonna be a godawful mother. Just like yours was. A lying, heartless slut.

Gwen: God, you bitch. Cell phone repair.

Claire: I think you and tripp could be good for each other.

Allie: Really? I mean, you used to like tripp yourself.

Claire: He and I had a lot of growing up to do.

Allie: So did I.

Claire: But we're getting there. I think you and tripp could have an amazing future.

[Phone beeps]

Allie: Oh, henry's prescription is ready. All right, you're gonna start feeling better, sweetie. All right. Listen, I will think about what you said. Thank you.

Claire: Okay.

Allie: Bye.

Claire: I love you.

Allie: Love you. Okay, let's go.

Claire: Bye.

Ben: Damn, slow down, rocky.

Jake: Sorry, man, I--

Ben: Are you okay?

Jake: I didn't see you. Yeah, yeah--uh, no. Kate just broke up with me.

Ben: Why?

Jake: No idea.

Kristen as kate: [Sighs]

Roman: [Sighs]

Kristen as kate: God, that was awful. Oh, thank you so much for coming to my rescue.

Roman: Not a problem. It looks like you did what I actually said.

Kristen as kate: What do you mean? I mean--I mean, you talk a lot.

Roman: Well, I told you that you and jake weren't a good match. You and I, on the other hand--good match.

Kristen as kate: Oh, right.

Roman: Does that mean you actually might be thinking about us getting back together?

Abigail: You get out of this house right now.

Gwen: Not until I speak to chad.

Ben: You stay away from my husband! Did you hear me? I said stay away from chad!

Jack: Please tell abigail goodbye and that I love her.

Chad: Yeah, I will. Hey, let me see you out. I gotta go check on her.

Jack: Okay.

Gwen: Leave me alone!

Abigail: Leave you alone? I want you and that baby out of my life for good.

Gwen: [Yells]

[Intense music]

Abigail: [Grunts]

Gwen: [Yells]

Abigail: [Gasps]

[Glass shatters]
