Episode #13974 ~ Anna stumbles upon Gwen locked up in the DiMera tunnels. Chad is suspicious when he finds Abigail and Gabi together. Belle is furious at Sami for lying to her. Allie brings Henry to meet Ava for the first time.

Lucas: Any luck? What happened?

Allie: Well, I went to see mom.

Lucas: And? Did you get a chance to see her?

Allie: No because she was in with aunt belle, so rafe sent me away.

Lucas: Wow. I still can't believe your aunt belle agreed to represent her, after everything they went through last time your mom was in town. They really went at it.

Allie: Yeah, I know. Well, I'm glad that they're working it out, though, because it sounds like mom is gonna need a really good lawy

Lucas: Did you hear anything?

Allie: [Sighs] I mean, no. Rafe wouldn't tell me much, but they kept her overnight. I mean, that can't be good.

Lucas: Right. No, that can't be good. Let me see what I can find out, all right?

[Sighs]

[Line ringing]

[Clears throat] Hey, shawn. Listen--actually, we're hanging in there. Thanks for asking. But I have a question for you. Is there any way you can give me an update on sami's situation right now? Allie is really concerned about her mom. What?

Allie: Dad, what? What is it?

Lucas: She was arrested for murder.

[Keys jangling, door opens]

Rafe: Oh. Hey.

Ava: Hey. What are--what are you doing back from work? You forget something?

Rafe: No, I didn'T. I just--I wanted to tell you this in person.

Ava: Okay.

Rafe: Yeah, we have news on the investigation into charlie's murder. The suspect that we had in custody, you know, the one that I told you about?

Ava: Mm-hmm.

Rafe: Yeah. Been arrested.

Ava: Really?

Rafe: Yeah. Yep. We found her fingerprints on the murder weapon.

Ava: Her.

Rafe: Her. Yeah. That's right.

Ava: Okay, so since you have this person in custody, can you tell me who it is?

Rafe: Yeah, I can. It's allie's mother, sami brady.

[Tense music]

Sami: There you are. What the hell took so long? And why did you let rafe arrest me?

Belle: How was I supposed to stop him, sami? Your fingerprints were on the gun that shot charlie.

Sami: Doesn't mean I killed that son of a bitch.

Belle: Okay.

Sami: Wait. Where are you going?

Belle: I warned you not to lie to me, and you said you never touched the murder weapon, so you lied. And now, as promised, I quit.

Sami: [Scoffs]

Gwen: Help! Someone! Please! Help me, someone.

[Door opens]

Anna: [Exhales] Oh. What are you doing in here?

Gwen: Oh. You know. Just looking for a nice merlot. Have any recommendations?

Anna: Well, it looks like you got yourself in a little jam.

Gwen: Yeah. Look, could you--could you please maybe help me out of these things? 'Cause they're cutting off my circulation.

Anna: Somebody kidnapped you.

Gwen: Thank you so much for noticing, yes. Took both of them a lot of work to get me down here.

Anna: Both of whom?

Gwen: Everyone's favorite dynamic duo, gabi and abigail.

Gabi: All right, so even if I take you to where the drugs are, you don't even know what you're looking for.

Abigail: I do because it was on my lab report.

Gabi: You better make this work.

Abigail: Does that mean you're gonna do it?

Gabi: Well, if I don't, will you leave me alone?

Abigail: Nope.

Chad: Don't worry, buddy. I got it.

Abigail: Hi.

Chad: Hi. I didn't expect to see you here.

Abigail: Yeah, I know.

Chad: I canceled our couples therapy appointment because you said--you said you had something more important to do.

Abigail: I did. I--I--yeah, I do.

Chad: You blew off our--our appointment so you could meet with her? What's going on?

[Dramatic music]

Sami: Wait, belle, you can't just go. Come on.

Belle: Why should I stay, sami? Why should I stay and represent you when even I can't trust you?

Sami: Okay. Okay, I touched the gun. All right? I admit it.

Belle: I know you touched the gun, sami. We all know that now.

Sami: But I didn't kill charlie dale. I was telling you the truth about that part. I swear.

Belle: Oh, you swear. Okay. Why don't you answer a few more questions for me then?

Sami: Ask away. Anything.

Belle: Okay. Why did you come back to salem without telling a single soul that you were here?

Sami: Well--

Belle: And why did you go straight to the apartment of a total stranger, a stranger who had just hurt your daughter and gotten away with it?

Sami: Charlie dale was--

Belle: And why were your hands on the gun? And most importantly, why did you lie to me, sami? Why would you lie to your attorney, who happens to be your sister, and is only here trying to help you?

[Exhales] Because for someone who says she's innocent, you sure are acting awfully guilty.

Ava: So do you believe that sami killed my son?

Rafe: Well, what I believe doesn't matter. I just have to go off the facts.

Ava: Yeah, but you and sami are close.

Rafe: Well, my personal relationship with her isn't gonna interfere with the case, if that's what you're thinking.

Ava: I appreciate that.

Rafe: Look, I know that you and charlie weren't close, but he was your son, and I'm going to see to it that justice is done.

Ava: I believe that justice has been done.

[Ominous music]

Lucas: Thank you, shawn. I really appreciate it. I'll be in touch, okay?

Allie: Oh, my god.

Lucas: I know, I know. It's bad.

Allie: Did I hear that her fingerprints were all over the gun?

Lucas: Yes, yes, honey, that's what he said.

Allie: My god, this looks really bad for mom, doesn't it?

Lucas: Listen. I know it does, but your mom, she's been in situations like this before. Believe it or not, and she always finds a way to come out okay. I don't know.

Allie: I know, but if she gets arrested for charlie's murder--

Lucas: Let's not do that. Let's not think worst-case scenario. All right?

Allie: How can I not when this is all my fault?

Abigail: For falsely accusing her of drugging me. Now that I know that it's gwen and it wasn't gabi, I just really felt like I needed to make it right.

Gabi: And I'm listening, by the way, abigail, so you better make it good and heartfelt.

Abigail: And I'm actually glad that you're here. Chad, it'll be good for you to hear this too, so...

[Clears throat] Gabi, I am really, really sorry for all of the pain that I caused you when you ended up being completely innocent. Will you ever forgive me?

Gabi: Why the hell would I ever forgive you?

[Tense music]

Anna: You're telling me that abigail and gabi worked together to do this to you?

Gwen: Uh-huh. Yeah. Gabi knocked me out, and then abigail tied me up. They're quite the team.

Anna: But why take you hostage? What's the long-term plan here? Just leave you down here to die?

Gwen: They don't want me to die. No, they-- abigail wants me to confess to killing her grandmother.

Anna: Did you?

Gwen: No, I did not! And I'm not going to confess just because they're holding me down here captive.

Anna: Well then, it sounds like you're not getting out of here.

Gwen: Well, actually, you could untie me, can't you?

Anna: Oh. Oh, yes, of course. I suppose I can.

Gwen: Yeah. Thank you. Okay.

Sami: Okay, look, I know it looks bad. But if you could just get me out of here--

Belle: I don't know how I'm supposed to do that now.

Sami: You're a great lawyer. I'm sure you'll think of something.

Belle: I just don't understand you. Actually, you know what, I do. I understand you too well.

Sami: What do you understand?

Belle: Oh, you're just like claire was. I don't know, when she was maybe two years old, she'd come in with chocolate all over her face and swear up and down she never ate that piece of cake.

Sami: Well, she takes after her aunt, that's all.

Belle: That's not a good thing. Sami, you knew that your fingerprints were gonna be on that gun, and you knew that I was gonna find out just as you were swearing to my face that you were telling the truth.

Sami: I also knew that you were gonna help me. I know that you are because you're family. Because you're my sister. And you know that that is the most important thing-- that you might not like me, and we might not get along, but when things are really bad, there is nothing that we wouldn't do for each other.

Belle: Fine. I'm not gonna walk out that door this time. But this is your absolute last chance. If you lie to me again, sami, I swear to god I'm done with you.

Rafe: What do you mean justice has been done?

Ava: I mean-- look, I am a mother. Just like sami is. And I understand what it's like when your child is hurting and how you want to do anything to take their pain away.

Rafe: Uh-huh. Are you talking about her kid or yours?

Ava: Both. Look--look, my son, he-- he hurt sami's daughter in the worst way possible, and he almost got away with it.

Rafe: Are you saying you think he deserved to be shot?

Ava: I'm saying I understand why sami did what she did.

Rafe: Okay, yeah. But in the eyes of the law--

Ava: She has to be punished. Yeah, I know, I get it. And look, don't get me wrong. I am grateful that you've arrested my son's killer. But, I mean, whatever he did, no one should have to die the way that he did. I'm just relieved that things are over now and we can all start to heal.

Rafe: Well, I wouldn't go that far.

Ava: What do you mean?

Rafe: Well, this case is anything but closed.

Ava: You got her fingerprints on the gun.

Rafe: All right, but we are in the early stages of the investigation, and it is going to be a long and painful process for everyone involved.

Ava: Including you.

Rafe: Me?

Ava: Well, it can't be easy to arrest somebody who means so much to you.

Rafe: Oh. Please, sami, she's my ex-wife.

Ava: Yeah, well, she's more than that. Come on, you loved her. Maybe you still love her.

Rafe: Yeah, well, my relationship with sami was-- is--is very complicated.

Ava: I get it. So was mine with my son.

Lucas: Why would you think this is your fault?

Allie: Because--because if I hadn't told mom about charlie, then she wouldn't be where she is.

Lucas: Well, you didn't tell your mom to ride into town with a gun and take matters in her own hands, did you?

Allie: Yeah, I know, but I--

Tripp: Hey, little man. You up for a walk? I'm--I'm sorry. Am I--am I interrupting?

Allie: No. No, it's fine.

Tripp: You are?

Allie: Yeah. I wanted to reach out earlier, but I just--I didn't really know what to say about charlie.

Tripp: Uh...

[Laughs] I mean, I don't really know what to say either. I mean, I didn't even know I had a brother until a few weeks ago. I mean, I can't say a part of me isn't relieved that he's out of our lives for good. Losing a tooth didn't stop you

Belle: All right.

[Clears throat] Let's try this again, shall we? So, why on earth would you pick up the gun? I mean, you had to have known that picking up the murder weapon was a bad idea.

Sami: I guess I just wasn't thinking clearly.

Belle: Why are you being so cagey?

Sami: What are you talking about?

Belle: I mean, you still haven't explained to me why you touched the gun. Are you protecting someone?

Sami: What?

Belle: Oh. Well, it occurs to me that if you weren't sitting here charged, that the number one suspect would likely be your daughter.

Sami: She didn't have anything to do with this.

Belle: Are you sure about that?

Sami: Of course I'm sure. I haven't even talked to her in days.

Belle: Then how do you know she didn't shoot charlie?

Sami: I know because my daughter is not a killer, unlike someone's daughter, who doesn't mind torturing an ex or two.

Belle: Okay, hold on. Just leave claire out of this.

Sami: Okay, I'm sorry. You're right. I'm just very protective when it comes to my little girl.

Belle: Yeah, well, same. Anyway, I wasn't trying to imply that allie was the shooter. I'm just saying a lot of people's minds are gonna go there.

Sami: From what I understand, charlie dale has a long list of people who had it out for him. He wasn't exactly making friends in his short time in salem.

Belle: That's true. There are a lot of people out there that wanted to see him dead.

Ava: I know, if I had... if I had been a better mother to charlie, then... I don't know, maybe things would have been different.

Rafe: He's a grown man. He made his own choices.

Ava: Yeah, I know. But, you know, I was never there for him. I didn't even try to understand him. I just... I didn't have it in me to be a mother to him.

Rafe: [Sighs] Well, you were going through your own stuff.

Ava: Yeah, but...

[Chuckles] Whatever the reason is, he, uh-- he's gone now. And I don't really even know how to feel about it.

Rafe: Probably still in shock.

Ava: Yeah, probably. Okay, you know what? On that note...

Rafe: Yeah.

Ava: I should probably get packing.

Rafe: Packing?

Ava: Yeah, I mean, come on. Rafe, I mean, it's no secret that you weren't exactly thrilled to have me here. So now that I'm no longer in danger--

Rafe: Hold on. Hold on a second. No, no, no, hey, hey. You don't have to leave.

Ava: Come on, it's just--

Rafe: No, you don'T. No, listen to me. You stay here until-- you know, just until you get your head right, okay?

Ava: Really?

Rafe: Yeah. Yeah, really. I mean it. You don't have to go anywhere. You don't, okay? But I do. I gotta get back to work. You know, I'm actually waiting on the lab results. See you.

Rafe: Yeah.

Tripp: Yeah, I shouldn't have said that, that I was relieved. I mean, he's my brother-- was my brother. It's just that if he was still here, I might not be.

Allie: What do you mean?

Tripp: He threatened my life.

Lucas: He what?

Tripp: Yeah. Look, a few days ago, he overheard me talking to my dad about how I wanted to be in henry's life. Charlie went nuts and said that he would make sure I would never get anywhere near his kid.

Allie: He said that?

Tripp: Yeah. He even started telling people that he would kill me if that's what it took. He was obsessed with henry, and I thought he was gonna try to sue for custody.

Lucas: Well, we didn't hear any of that.

Tripp: I didn't want to tell you 'cause I didn't want to upset you, allie. You've been through enough.

Allie: Look, all I care about is that henry is safe.

Tripp: And now he is. And so are you. You don't have to worry about my brother anymore.

Anna: [Laughs] Silly me. Of course I could untie you. Why didn't I think of that myself?

Gwen: Okay. Okay, great. There's a box cutter. It's just there, for opening the wine cases.

Anna: A box cutter, huh?

Gwen: Yes, yes. You see it? Just that one right there. You see it?

Anna: Mm-hmm. Mm.

Anna: Hmm. Oh, black label reserve d'viognier 2016. That's lovely.

Gwen: What are you doing?

Anna: Hmm? Oh, I'm trying to find the right wine for lunch. Tony's waiting for me. It should be quite romantic.

Gwen: What the hell are you talking about?

Anna: Well, you didn't really think I was going to set you free, did you? After what you've done to my sister-in-law, I wouldn't lift a pinky to help you out.

Gabi: Have you forgotten all the horrible things you've done to me, aside from accusing me of drugging you? I mean, you sent me to prison for murdering andre.

Abigail: We don't have to go all the way back.

Gabi: Oh, okay. So you want to pick and choose what you're sorry about. Maybe you're not sorry at all. Maybe this is one big show.

Abigail: Okay, do you want to hear me out or not? Because I do actually want to do this.

Gabi: Fine. I'm listening.

Abigail: Chad, would you mind leaving us alone? I think this might get a little intense.

Gabi: Got that right.

Abigail: And I would really hate for our kids to overhear.

Chad: Sure you're gonna be okay?

Abigail: I'm fine, yeah. I think this is just all, you know, part of the process of moving forward.

Chad: Okay. Well, I'm all for that. Good luck. I'll see you back at home. Charlotte, thomas, who wants to go on the swings?

Abigail: What the hell was that about?

Gabi: Had to make it believable, didn't I? Chad wasn't gonna just believe that I'm gonna accept your apology without fighting back.

Abigail: So it was an act.

Gabi: I'm not gonna lie. It did feel good.

Abigail: Yeah, because you've already accepted my apology in real life.

Gabi: Abigail, we have made a truce. But you do have to know that I'm never gonna be totally over what you did to me.

Abigail: Understood. And right back at you.

Gabi: Great. So seeing as how I'd like to spend the least amount of time with you as possible, can we please get this going?

Abigail: Yep. Let's go make gwen pay. I feel bad for kicking your seat on purpose

Allie: Tripp, there's something that you should know. The police arrested my mom for charlie's murder.

Tripp: I thought your mom was in europe.

Lucas: Yeah, that's what we thought too.

Allie: But the gun that they found had her fingerprints on it.

[Exhales] I'm so sorry.

Tripp: Why--why are you sorry?

Allie: I don't know. I just wish that none of this ever happened. You know, so many lives have been affected.

Tripp: I know. I know. I'm just glad henry's okay. And like, I really meant what I said about henry. I mean, he's my nephew, so if there's anything you need at all, I'm here.

Allie: Thank you.

Tripp: And look, I know this is probably a lot to ask. Um...

Allie: Go ahead.

Tripp: It's just, my mom has been having a really tough time since charlie died. She keeps staring at this picture of him as a baby, and... I was wondering if maybe she could meet little henry. And like I said, I know it's a lot to ask, and if you don't feel comfortable at all about it, I totally understand.

Allie: No, um... no, no, I do. It's fine.

Tripp: Really?

Lucas: We're talking about ava vitali here.

Allie: Yeah, who is henry's grandmother. I think it's important for her to meet him.

Abigail: Okay. So, where does dr. Rolf keep his secret stash of the drug? Let's just get it and let's get this over with.

Gabi: I still don't get why we have to threaten gwen with the same drug that she used on you.

Abigail: Like I said, I need her to believe that it's the real thing, and she's seen it up close.

Gabi: Just to be clear, we're only gonna be threatening her with it, right? I mean, we're not gonna inject her with, you know, the--we're gonna melt her brain?

Abigail: I mean, like I would ever do that.

Gabi: Well...

Abigail: And since when have you grown a conscience about drugging people?

Gabi: Oh, here we go.

Abigail: Yeah, here we go.

Gabi: Do you want my help or not?

Abigail: Do you want jake back or not?

Abigail: [Sighs]

Gwen: If you walk out that door and you leave me here to rot, you are an accessory to kidnapping.

Anna: I don't know what you're talking about. The only thing I saw down here was a rat. A very large rat.

Gwen: You're seriously just gonna walk away?

Anna: And don't bother yelling, dear. The walls are soundproof. I'd save my vocal cords.

Gwen: Someone will find me.

Anna: [Laughs] Who, gwen? No one's looking for you. Who even cares enough to notice that you're gone?

[Tense music]

[Sighs]

Rafe: Oh, you're still here. Figured you'd have quit by now.

Sami: Oh, she tried.

Rafe: Hm.

Belle: I'm actually satisfied that she's telling the truth this time.

Rafe: Oh, really? She tell you why her fingerprints were on the gun?

Sami: I told you--

Belle: Sami, you hired me as your lawyer. I'm gonna do the talking now.

Sami: Great.

Belle: She picked up the gun in a moment of panic. And then she put it right back down.

Rafe: Hm. Why didn't you ever mention that before?

Sami: [Scoffs]

Belle: Come on, rafe. She was petrified. She knows how this looks, especially given her history.

Rafe: So you never fired the gun? That's your story?

[Dramatic music]

Sami: You got just what you deserve. Nope. I never fired the gun.

Belle: Look, I know you've got a lot of other suspects, and if the fingerprints are all you've got and the da isn't ready to file charges, then we should--

Rafe: Well, that ain't all we've got.

Belle: What?

Rafe: The fingerprints-- they aren't all we've got. Not by a long shot.

[Dramatic music]

[Door opens]

Tripp: Mom?

Ava: Tripp, hey.

Tripp: Hey, I hope this is an okay time.

Ava: Yeah, of course.

Tripp: I brought someone to see you. Thought it might cheer you up.

Ava: Well, who is it?

Tripp: Would you like to meet your grandson?

Abigail: Hello, gwen.

Gabi: Who'd you think it was?

Gwen: I thought that drunken cow came to her senses.

[Both laugh]

Chad: See you found a little something in the basement.

Anna: What are you talking about?

Chad: What's going on, anna?

Anna: [Laughs] Nothing. Why?

Chad: 'Cause I asked you about some wine you found in the basement, and now you seem all panicked.

Anna: The wine? Oh yes, of course, the wine. Yes. I did find it in the basement.

Chad: And what'd you think I was talking about?

Gwen: What the hell is that?

Abigail: Oh, surely you recognize this delightful little concoction. I think you scored some of it from our dear old dr. Rolf and put it in my champagne, and whoops, I had a psychotic break.

Gwen: Psychotic break? Sure you're not having one right now?

Gabi: Oh, no, she's completely sane. I can promise you that.

Gwen: Sane? Except she's threatening to inject me with that thing.

Abigail: Oh, I'm doing a whole lot more than just threatening. Now, I know your preferred method of delivery was in beverage form. But I hear that it's actually much more powerful when it's injected.

Gwen: [Scoffs] You wouldn'T.

Abigail: I would. Gabi, you know, would you do me the honors of recording this confession, please?

Gabi: Oh, yeah.

Gwen: Recording? You're honestly gonna record a crime in progress? Are you both trying to get arrested?

Abigail: I know a lot of people on the police force. It'll be fine. Go ahead, start rolling.

Gabi: We're rolling.

Abigail: So, let's go ahead and start with--

Gabi: You know what, actually, before we get ahead of ourselves here, we need to stop.

Abigail: We do?

Gabi: Yes, I want to hear first all about how gwen put that drug in your champagne.

Gwen: Oh, god, what does that have to do with anything?

Gabi: It has everything to do with it. You accused me of that, and then you let me go to trial for it.

Abigail: Could we maybe just, like, stay a little focused here?

Gabi: What? We're only-- we only care about the crimes that were perpetrated against your family?

Abigail: I am the person that was drugged.

Gwen: Wow, sounds like there's a lot of dissension in the ranks. Maybe you two didn't think this all out properly after all, did you?

Abigail: No, we're fine. First, you're gonna answer gabi's question. Then you're gonna answer mine.

Gwen: Go to hell. Both of you.

Abigail: Did you maybe wanna--I don't know-- rethink that answer?

[Dramatic music]

Ava: This is henry.

Tripp: The one and only.

Ava: He's beautiful.

Allie: Thanks.

Ava: Would it be okay if I--if I held him?

Allie: Sure. Yeah. Here. He's--he's a little fussy with new people, and it's probably his nap time. But here you go.

Tripp: No fuss there, huh?

Allie: [Chuckles]

Ava: Hello, you beautiful angel. Hello, henry. I'm your grandma.

Belle: There was gunshot residue on her clothes.

Rafe: Yeah. You're welcome to look at the report.

Belle: No, that won't be necessary.

Sami: Belle, I can explain.

Rafe: What did you think?

Sami: If you just give me--

Rafe: What did you think, sami? What, you thought you could just wash the evidence from your hands? You held the gun in your hand-- the murder weapon. You pulled the trigger. Obviously, there is no other explanation here. Why don't you just save us all the song and dance and tell us what happened? You killed charlie dale, didn't you?

[Dramatic music]

Allie: Yeah. I mean, I can't really blame you. I was attacking your son-- your innocent son.

Ava: Yeah, but my other son wasn't so innocent. Allie, I am so sorry for what he did to you. And as sad as I am for what charlie's life could have been and the pain that he caused--

Tripp: Look, the guilty man has finally been punished. We're all better off.

[Tense music]

Rafe: Okay. Well, I'm sure the two of you have a lot to talk about. I need to go meet with the da. You can expect an arraignment soon. I wanted to help you, sami. I really did. But now, there's nothing I can do.

[Door slams]

Sami: Belle, before you say anything--

Belle: No, sami, before you say anything, just stop, okay? Whatever it is, I don't want to hear it.

Sami: Belle, please.

Belle: I told you. I gave you one more chance, and you blew it. You lied to me. So I quit for real this time. You're on your own.

[Door slams]

Sami: [Whimpers]

Anna: Of course I was talking about the wine. I mean, what else could I have possibly found in the basement?

Chad: I don't know. I just--when I brought it up, you looked panicked.

Anna: Did I?

[Laughs] Okay, I have a little confession to make. I might have had a little too much to drink.

[Both laugh]

Chad: Yeah, well, I think you finished it.

Anna: Yeah, well, there's more where that-- but, of course, not today because honestly, I think it could use another year or two to mature.

Chad: Thank you for the advice. But you actually just reminded me that there's a meritage down in the basement that I've been waiting for a special occasion to open.

Anna: Oh, what a lovely idea. Easter, perhaps?

Chad: No. I think we should have a little special welcome home dinner for abi tonight.

Anna: Tonight.

Chad: Yeah. I'm gonna go grab it.

Anna: No! Don't go down there.

Chad: Why not?

Abigail: You can confess now.

Gwen: [Scoffs] We all know you don't have the guts to do it. I mean, come on, you sent gabi to do your dirty work and bash me over the head.

Gabi: I was glad to do it.

Gwen: Yeah, that's 'cause you're almost as ruthless as I am. But not sweet, cowardly abigail.

Abigail: Oh, shut up.

Gwen: Oh, sweet little sister, always a victim, always a martyr. Can we just drop the charade and move on with our lives now, please?

Abigail: No, we can'T. Because, you see, you've underestimated me. Which was a very, very big mistake.
