Episode #13537 ~ A drunk Maggie has a showdown with Kate. Xander and his partner's plan comes into focus. Will lashes out at Ted and Hope. Looking for answers, Sarah and Rex go through his notes from his time working with Rolf.

Nicole: Theeople in this town hold grudges like nobody's business. Being nicole... was the only way I could ever come back.

Xander: You've played the part brilliantly. Sometimes I even forget that the part of nicole walker is currently being played by none other-- kristen dimera.

Kristen: [Chuckles]

Eric: Why would xander break into the hospital lab to steal holly's autopsy report for victor? The police were about to release the results to the public. Why would he take that kind of risk?

Rex: Maybe he's trying to ease his way back into victor's good graces? I mean, look, I don't know, man. I'm just telling you what xander told me.

Sarah: Do you think that he just offered the most innocent explanation?

Eric: When the real truth is that he was gonna alter the report somehow?

Sarah: Alter it how? To say what? I mean, we all... know that holly's dead. Unless, are you saying... she's not?

[Tender music]

Kate: Will! Honey, I didn't mean to startle you.

Will: No, no, no. Um... it's just, uh... horton. That's my last name. I wonder, like, are we related?

Kate: You don't remember tom and alice?

Will: No. Uh, but I should, shouldn't I? Why does this keep happening? What--at first, there were just small moments and things that didn't matter, but now it's people? Now it's people that I love?

Kate: Will--will, look at me. Do you know who I am?

Sonny: [Knocks] Hey, brady. Do you have a second? Maggie. What are you doing?

[Suspenseful music]

Brady: When I brought her back home from the funeral, nicole kissed me.

Victor: And?

Brady: "And?" Seriously, that's-- that's your reaction?

Victor: I'm stunned, shocked. Oh, please. We both knew something was going on with her.

Brady: Why? B-because kate saw her shake hands with xander?

Victor: A man who she supposedly can't stand. And who you talked me into taking her back into the family fold.

Brady: Granddad, come on, what do you--what are you suggesting, that nicole is working with xander? That doesn't make any sense.

Victor: Since when does something to do with nicole walker have to make sense? Clearly, something is going on with her, and if we learned anything from your shared miserable past, it's to stay the hell away from her! She ruined your life once, she'll gladly do it again.

Kristen: [Exhales noisily]

[Laughs] Not bad, right?

Xander: Damn good. I must admit, I was skeptical. You passing yourself off as saintly nicole.

Kristen: You didn't even think I had it in me, did you?

Xander: Clearly, I underestimated you. Although, to be fair, I did think you were just a pile of ashes after the... warehouse exploded in nashville.

Kristen: I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid.

[Fire crackling]

[Dramatic music]

There's one thing you should know about me, xander. I am my father's daughter. And like the phoenix, I rose from the ashes from that fire. And no matter how much my enemies wish it... I will never die.

Male announcer: Like sands through the hourglass, so are the "days of our lives."

[Soft orchestration]

Ted: Hi.

Hope: Hey.

[Grunts] Yeah, well... I didn't realize how much stuff I had accumulated.

Ted: Clearly, I'm giving you a run for your money, considering you've been working here a lot longer than I did.

Hope: [Chuckles] Yeah. Um... well, I'm all packed up.

Ted: Yeah.

Hope: You?

Ted: Of course I am. How about tonight? I mean, we should celebrate.

Hope: Celebrate?

Ted: Should I take you out to dinner? Come on.

Hope: Why not?

Ted: Let's get out of here.

Hope: Sure.

[Tranquil music]

Xander: So, are you ever gonna let ted laurent in on the fact that you are my silent partner?

Kristen: That two-bit huckster?

[Chuckles] I'm not taking the risk.

Xander: Well, that makes me part of a rather exquisite club, doesn't it?

Kristen: No one else will ever know the truth.

Xander: Well, I'm honored, but how can you be so sure?

Kristen: Easy. I don't ever plan on leaving this room without my face on.

[Sighs] Oh, it's so wonderful to feel the air on my skin, and see my own eyes staring back at me in the mirror. Hmm.

Xander: What's this thing made out of anyway?

Kristen: I think that would be like asking what's in a hot dog. Ugh. Trust me, you don't want to know.

Xander: And you put it on your face.

Kristen: Whatever works. Despite his faults, dr. Rolf was A... man of many talents.

Xander: Was?

Kristen: I can count myself lucky to be the beneficiary of his many years of scientific research. Obviously, I would never have been able to set foot in salem being myself.

Xander: But why come back as nicole walker? You could've come back as anybody you wanted.

Kristen: I needed someone roughly the same height, similar body type. And, you know, it helped that she was conveniently dead. In fact, she gives me the in I need to get what I really, really want.

Xander: Brady black.

Kristen: [Laughs] Oh, I love hearing that name. Say it again.

Xander: Brady black.

Kristen: Mm.

Xander: But wouldn't you like to give eric another spin? I mean, he does seem... stubbornly determined to not let you go, or, rather, not let nicole go.

Kristen: He is... a loyal little puppy dog, isn't he? Nah. He'll just have to accept that his beloved nicole is no longer taking in strays.

Xander: And what if he were to stop following you around?

Kristen: Well, then I'll have no choice... but to take drastic measures. Things are bad.

Will: No, um... yes, yes, I-I-I know who you are. You're my grandma kate.

Kate: I have to tell you, that's one of the few times that I haven't minded hearing that word.

Will: That's true. Uh, unlike, uh... grandma alice. Alice and tom. Th-they were my-- they were my great-grandparents.

Kate: Mm-hmm. Yeah, see? You haven't forgotten the people who love you.

Will: Well, not yet. But this--this keeps happening more and more. I mean, today I remember you, but... what if--what if tomorrow I don't? What if I don't remember anyone? I don't, I don't-- I've done this before, but I-I think that I would... I'd rather die than do this again.

Kate: No, no. Don't ever say that.

Will: Well, I-I don't want to, and I don't want to think about it, but how can-- I can't avoid it.

Kate: Okay, listen. You are going to get better. I promise you that. You are. But you have to take care of yourself. All right? Have you eaten? Have you had dinner yet?

Will: No, that's another-- I guess that's another thing I forgot.

Kate: Okay. Okay. Well, then it's no wonder that you're not acting like yourself, because you haven't eaten, okay? What do you say we go get something to eat at the café? Come on.

Will: Okay. Okay.

Kate: Come on, come on.

Will: Sounds like a plan.

Maggie: Um, sonny, I, um... I came in looking for brady, and I picked up some of his laundry when I-- underneath it was-- uh, was this.

Sonny: A bottle of vodka?

[Sighs] Brady's fallen off the wagon?

Maggie: Yeah, yeah. I suppose it's-- that's the only explanation.

Brady: Nicole is not out to destroy me, granddad. She is grieving over her daughter and she needed some comfort.

Victor: Oh, comfort, my ass. She heard you got the big job at titan, she wants you back.

Brady: That's crazy. Nicole's heart belongs with eric. It always will.

Victor: Oh, there's no such thing as "always" when it comes to matters of the heart. You of all people should know that. Nicole thinks eric's responsible for her daughter's death. Can't stand the sight of him.

Brady: No, she's grieving. She's not in her right mind right now, but I believe, in time--in time-- she will forgive eric.

Sarah: Eric, come on. We all wish it were true, but you don't actually believe that holly could still be alive, do you?

Eric: No, I don'T. Nicole might.

Sarah: What do you mean?

Eric: Rafe did not see the van go over the guardrail. When they were finally able to pull holly's body from the wreckage-- if it was holly's body, it was so badly burned, they couldn't even identify her.

Rex: I-I just-- I thought you just said that you don't believe holly's alive.

Eric: I was only a few feet away from the van when it started up in flames. There's not a doubt in my mind that we lost holly that day, but what if xander wanted nicole to believe something else?

Rex: W-why would he do that?

Eric: He's an opportunist. He's looking for leverage. He hated that he was forced into divorcing nicole, that he lost his power over her, and he's found a way to get it back. What if he could even dangle the possibility that holly was alive or claim that he knew where she was?

Sarah: Do you think that's what xander ultimately wants? Nicole?

Kristen: Mm.

Xander: How much more drastic can these measures get? You did just stage the death of a little girl.

Kristen: How else could i convince eric that nicole stopped loving him? And you just said that her death was staged. It was not real. Mm? Mm. In fact, she's in a safe and sound place, much better than where she was, living with that dimwit chloe. I mean, what's so drastic about that?

Xander: Oh, I don't know-- stealing two bodies, exploding a car, getting me to change the autopsy report so it looked like holly really died, putting multiple families through hell.

Kristen: Xander, sweetheart, that's child's play. Mm. You want drastic? You just wait.

Brady: You know, in the last couple years, I've had A... hell of a lot of relationships that blew up in my face. And every single time they did, I would look to the next woman to-- to fix it. I'd think to myself, "this one, this is the one who's going to make everything okay."

Victor: We all saw how they worked out for you anyway.

Brady: Yeah, yeah, obvious disasters, but... my point is it was-- it was maggie who always made me understand why this was happening. She was the one that pointed out to me that I was always looking outside of myself for the answers, in a bottle or with another woman. And I was avoiding the real issue, that I wasn't fixing myself, that I couldn't--I couldn't find happiness until I... found it within myself. And that's the only way I could go into another healthy relationship. It made a lot of sense to me, granddad.

Victor: Believe what you want. All I know is, if maggie was all that good at relationships, she wouldn't be sleeping in your bed.

[Dramatic music]

Brady: What's going on?

Maggie: I-I... hmm. I must've dozed off.

[Chuckles]

Brady: Yeah, I think I know why, yeah.

Maggie: No, no, no, no. No, brady.

Brady: What's happening?

Maggie: No, brady, I-I-- I didn't-- I didn't have a drink. I-I just had a really difficult day.

Brady: I know, I know. I know. I think you're forgetting who you're talking to. It's pretty clear to me you've been drinking.

Maggie: [Gasps]

Brady: All right.

Maggie: [Sobs quietly]

Brady: Take it easy on maggie, okay? I think between nicole blowing up at her at the funeral and then the fight she had with kate recently, she's--she's very fragile right now.

Victor: That woman is tougher than you think. Puts up with me, doesn't she?

Brady: [Scoffs] Yeah, but that doesn't mean she's not vulnerable, granddad, and--and-- now that you've reconnected with kate, I mean... you're playing with fire on this one.

Victor: I don't remember asking for your opinion.

Brady: You didn'T. But you're real good at dishing out advice, so I'm gonna give you a little bit of mine, all right? Don't take your marriage for granted. You'll regret it. I'm gonna go check on maggie and see if she's doing better.

Maggie: Well, you know, I-- I shouldn't be surprised with everything that brady's gone through these past few months. You know, uh, b-being rejected by chloe and-- and now dealing with holly's death. You know, I-it's sad that he resorted to this. Not unexpected, unfortunately.

Sonny: No, I guess not. But you've been there to help him through these slips before, right? I mean, thank god he has you as a--as a sponsor.

Maggie: Right. Yes, oh, yes. And I-I'll always be there, and I-I love him, and--and... I'll take him to the next meeting and I'm sure he'll get through this slip too.

Sonny: Okay.

Maggie: [Chuckles]

[Suspenseful music]

[Discordant music]

Ted: So I was thinking... doug's place for dinner?

Hope: Uh... normally, I would be thrilled to go there, but today is my dad and julie's anniversary. And, given my situation-- you know, my divorce, the firing...

Ted: No, I... completely understand. Do you have any second choice?

Hope: Yeah, how about here?

Will: Uh, hope? What's going on? Are you on a date with this guy?

[Dramatic music]

Kristen: Mm. What? What is that look?

Xander: Don't you think you're going to an awful lot of trouble to get brady back, considering how he used you last time?

Kristen: He didn't use me.

Xander: What's that saying about a river in egypt?

Kristen: Drop the dime store psychology. I know brady loves me. What we had was real, damn it. Oh, wipe the smirk off your face.

Xander: I just think you're being a tad... unrealistic.

Kristen: Oh, unrealistic? Wow, you should talk. Yeah. You have your sights set on that sweet sarah horton, a woman torn between two men, hmm? May I make a point? Neither one of them is you.

Eric: I still think my theory makes a lot of sense. Xander planned on tampering with those test results to make it appear that holly was still alive.

Rex: And then what? He's--he's gonna use that fact against nicole?

Eric: Somehow, yeah.

Sarah: If he's that determined to hurt nicole, then how do we know that he won't try something else?

Eric: We don'T. I need to warn nicole, right now.

Rex: Whoa, whoa, eric! Get it! Get that butterfly!

Kristen: Not so cocky, are you? Oh, why listen to me? If you're so convinced of sarah's affection, then... ooh, come to think of it, if sarah's free from rex, most likely, eric will be distracted from pursuing nicole.

Xander: Hold on. If I win sarah away from rex, then...

Kristen: Yeah, and then eric will swoop in and make a play for her. So what? Mm? Competition will build your character. We've had a lot of luck on our side. I mean, honestly, how many people would've escaped that--that warehouse fire?

Xander: And none the worse for wear, I might add.

Kristen: And then cartel came after chloe, and then hector... hector, he just showed up at the most perfect time to be the fall guy for holly's kidnapping. I mean, I couldn't have set it up any better if I had planned it myself.

Xander: You were dealt a royal flush, my dear.

Kristen: And then... we chose the right card, hmm? With my brother, stefan, when he exiled ted to the deserted island. And then you rescued him. I mean, it's so perfect. And now he's in your debt. Oh. So credit is where credit's due, mm? And then, unbelievably, after that, he ends up a da... in the perfect position to get a confession out of hector. It's all unbelievable!

Xander: Yeah. Ted stepped up, that's for sure. But he's, uh, a little upset about the dead kid.

Kristen: I thought you told him she wasn't dead.

Xander: I did. I'm just not sure he believed me. Let's just hope he doesn't have a sudden attack of conscience, or else our run of good luck might come to an end.

Will: Hope. Are you seriously on a date with this guy? You do realize that he framed sonny and me for murder, right? That he blackmailed us? That he kept us apart for months? And those might have been the healthiest months that I had?

Hope: Will--

Will: Are you--are you--

Hope: Will, I'm so sorry about your illness.

Ted: Whatever your health issues are, it doesn't give you the right to talk to hope this way.

Will: You do not tell me how to talk to my family.

Ted: Well, okay. Let me tell you.

Kate: Will. Are you okay?

Will: [Clears throat] Yeah, yeah. I'm okay. I'm--yeah. I'm sorry. I--

Hope: No. No. Will, it's okay.

Will: No, no, no, no. No. It's--it's not. It's not, um... the doctor said I-I'd be experiencing some, uh, behavioral issues, but I shouldn't-- I shouldn't have-- I shouldn't have done that, and I'm sorry.

Hope: No, will, it's okay.

Will: No, I-I... I apologize.

Kate: But there's not a word he said that wasn't true.

[Tense music]

Sonny: Hey.

Brady: Hey.

Sonny: Um, can I talk to you for a second?

Brady: Um, yeah, what's up?

Sonny: Well, I wanted to give you an update on will.

Brady: How's he doing? Is he okay or--

Sonny: Yeah, for now, thank god, but I am really worried about you.

Brady: Why? Me?

Sonny: Yes, because I went to your room, and I found maggie instead.

Brady: Listen, listen, listen, you-- you can't say anything.

Sonny: No, I'm not. I-I'm not--I'm not gonna say anything. Maggie said she was gonna talk to you, and she knows a lot more about this than I do, but you need to promise me that you're gonna go to a meeting.

Brady: You mean--you mean with maggie?

Sonny: Yes. If it helps. I mean, she is your sponsor, right?

Brady: Yes, she is-- sonny, I don't understand. What are you talking about?

Sonny: Brady, maggie told me you had a slip. Hey, she found vodka in your room.

Brady: Yeah, um... yeah. I did. I did. It was there, I was going through a rough patch. I was tempted, but I did not drink. So that's the good news.

Sonny: Okay. Good. I-I'm really glad to hear that. But, please, talk to maggie.

Brady: That's a good idea. It's a good idea. I will.

[Melancholy music]

Maggie: Thank you, robert. Um, I'll be right down. Mm-hmm. Um, but, um... don't meet me at the front entrance. Just, yeah. The rear entrance. Yeah. Okay.

[Phone beeps]

[Suspenseful music]

I wanted more from

Kristen: Well, if you want to concern yourself with ted laurent, mm, feel free. Frankly, he's the least of my worries.

Xander: Right. Yes, you'll have much bigger problems, won't you? Assuming your plan to get brady back actually works.

Kristen: It will.

Xander: But you won't really have brady back. Nicole will.

Kristen: You seem to be zeroing in on a point. Why don't you try and stick the landing?

Xander: Well, I thought it was so obvious, I wouldn't have to, but okay. Brady has... been with nicole.

Kristen: Right.

Xander: And he's been with you. If he goes to bed with nicole but gets you, I don't know, do you think he'll notice?

Kristen: No. No, I've made a few... uh...

[Chuckles] Subtle modifications to my body. Including... [Sighs] The removal of my precious phoenix tattoo.

Xander: Oh, that must've been painful.

Kristen: In more ways than one. No, there's no need to worry. Brady won't question who's sharing his bed, and, if he does, I can chalk up any differences to nicole's injuries during the fire. He'll never be the wiser until I'm ready to tell him the whole truth.

Xander: You may be right. Brady's many things, but clever isn't one of them, which is why I will be able to take control of titan in no time. Then, once you've wrested control of dimera from stefan, together, we will rule this town.

Rex: Eric, eric, you sure this is a good idea?

Eric: Yes, I'm sure. Nicole needs to know what xander's doing.

Rex: I understand, but is now the opportune time?

[Cell phone ringing] Excuse me.

[Phone beeps] Hello?

Kate: Hey. I am so glad that I got in touch with you, rex.

Rex: Mom. Um, hi. Is--are you okay? Is everything all right?

Kate: No, things are most definitely not okay. I was just with will, and he's had another memory lapse. He totally, totally lost his temper with hope. Honey, I'm--I'm so worried. I just feel like his condition is getting worse. Were you able to find anything in rolf's paperwork that might help him?

Rex: No, um... sorry, I-I have not had any time to look at it. The documents are still in storage.

Kate: I-I understand. I mean, I know things are crazy right now.

Rex: But you know what? It's really important, so I'm--I'm gonna go-- I'm gonna go get that stuff right now.

Kate: Thank you, sweetie.

Rex: Bye.

Sarah: Is your mom all right?

Rex: Um, yeah, she's just really worried about will, and, um... you know what? I-I'll be back. Sorry.

[Door opens, closes]

[Loud, prolonged knocking]

Kate: What the hell?

[Knocking continues] What the hell?

[Dramatic music]

Sonny: Hey. How'd your errands go?

Will: Um... not so good.

Sonny: Why, what happened? Will?

Will: [Sighs] I-I'm scared. Can you-- c-can you hold me?

[Tender music]

You try hard,

Sarah: So are you still gonna go see nicole?

Eric: I'm not sure. I need some air. I need--I need to think.

Sarah: You're never gonna give up on her. And--and you shouldn'T.

Eric: Sarah... I'm sorry.

Sarah: What? N-no, I'M... I'm the one who's sorry. That--that kiss, it shouldn't have happened. I shouldn't have... I promise it'll never happen again. I just want you to be happy.

Eric: I want you and my brother-- both of my brothers-- to be happy too.

Sarah: I wish you all the best with nicole. I know you two will work it out somehow.

Eric: Thank you.

[Door shuts]

[Melancholy music]

Brady: Maggie? It's brady. Maggie.

[Suspenseful music]

Damn it.

[Line trilling] Pick up, pick up. Voice mail. Maggie, hi, uh, it's brady. Where did you go? Um, give me a call as soon as you get this, because I'm worried about you. Give me a call.

Kate: Maggie.

Maggie: [Scoffs] Don't "maggie" me. You've been meeting with my husband behind my back.

Kate: Oh. [Chuckles] Oh, my god, yes. Yes, of course, you know that, because we've had this conversation before, but I don't think you would remember it because you are drunk as a skunk.

Maggie: I am not.

Kate: You can barely stand up, maggie.

Maggie: Fine! So what if I am? You are the reason that I've gone down this road.

Kate: Really?

Maggie: Yes!

Kate: Really, do you think that I seriously believe that you crawled into a bottle because I had one meeting with your husband? Are you really that insecure about your marriage?

Maggie: Uh--

Kate: No. I don't think so. I think what this is all about-- it's about holly. And I lost a grandchild. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. But you're a strong woman. You're weather-beaten. Right? You've weathered a lot. And I don't even think the death of that little girl could make you crumble. No, I think what you're feeling right now is the pain of knowing that you could have saved her life if you had just insisted that victor bring chloe and holly into your home, because--

Maggie: Uh--

Kate: Victor told me-- victor told me that nicole laid into you, that nicole blames you just as much as she blamed chloe and eric.

Maggie: Victor? Victor wouldn't have told you that.

Kate: Oh, well, he did. He did, so you know what I'm thinking? I'm thinking that you shouldn't be here. I'm thinking that you should be in nicole's room, and you should be hashing this out with her, because you are not gonna feel better until you have absolution, and the only one who can give that to you is nicole.

Kristen: Mm. Oh.

Xander: Big plans?

Kristen: Yes, I am... gonna put on my new dress, sip the finest champagne... and enjoy a rare evening being myself. So, if you'll excuse me.

Xander: Need a hand? With your zipper.

Kristen: Oh! Oh. Yes, please.

[Tense music]

Mm. Thank you.

Xander: There'S... really no rush, is there?

Kristen: Get the hell out of here.

Xander: Your loss.

[Dramatic music]

[Knocking on door]

Kristen: Ugh. What the hell do you want? So there you are with your depression

[Cool music]

Ted: I-I'm sorry.

Hope: Hmm? For what?

Ted: That run-in with will and kate before. Hope... are you having second thoughts about tonight?

Hope: You've put your old ways behind you, haven't you?

Ted: I promise. I will not disappoint you.

[Mysterious music]

Hope: Then let's order dessert.

Sonny: Listen to me. We will spare no expense. We are gonna do whatever it takes to recreate rolf's formula. All right? We will find a new drug to cure you. It's gonna be okay. That is a promise.

Sarah: There's--there's gotta be something in rolf's files that we can use, right?

Rex: Yeah. Got to admit I'm kind of afraid of what we might find. Dr. Rolf's research was so-- so unique. Human cloning and--and a brain chip with the y2k virus, and he had a drug that could bring human beings back from the dead. I mean, nobody should have that power.

[Eerie music]

Maggie: [Gasps]

[Mysterious music]

Eric: It's my lucky day.

Xander: Is it?

Eric: I know what you're trying to pull. Rex said he found you with the coroner's files on holly.

Xander: Do you?

Eric: You stay the hell away from nicole, you hear me?

Xander: Look, I don't know what it's gonna take to get it into your thick skull, but nicole doesn't want you to be her protector. She's done with you. And if you're on your way to see her tonight, I was just with her, and trust me, that's the last thing she needs.

[Dramatic music]

Maggie: Kristen! I saw you. Open up or I'm calling the police!

[Both gasp]

Nicole: Maggie. What are you doing here?

Maggie: Kristen dimera... I s-saw her. She answered your door.

Nicole: I-I-I don't-- I don't know what you're-- you're talking about. Kristen dimera is dead.

Maggie: No. I-I s-saw her. I saw her.

Nicole: Maggie. You don't know what you saw. You're drunk, you lush. So go home and sleep it off!

Maggie: [Gasps]
